=>took inventory of the Half Stash
=> need a project to keep the hands busy
=> decided it was time to use up the merino mini skeins from last advent
=> bought some yarn bundles on vinted to compliment (and also because I love stashbusting and using what others would throw away)
=> hello potential new blanket!

Mend March 2025 Day 11: Fab Scrap
This pair of jeans….what can I say? I’ve worn them a lot and they’re my favorite jeans. I like the fit and they’re comfy, but like all clothes, time passes and they wear out. It was the laundry that took a toll on these. Specifically, the dryer. The fabric is stretch denim. Stretch denim has elastic in it to give it that stretch. Elastane actually. Elastane is what’s used to provide stretch in…

simple little bag project i made over an evening and morning between other bigger projects, using some yarn i was gifted. i’ve been watching passioknit kelsie’s crochet vlogs heaps recently and been wanting to try making a mesh bag! not something i would’ve bought for myself, but i actually rlly enjoyed how the colours worked up, and the worsted weight cotton combined w the mesh made this super fast! and it used up exactly one skein, so i’ll probably use the second one to make the same thing and gift one to someone.

I made this a long time ago, but it's still the best way to use up yarn scraps that I've ever done.
My kid called it the 'very color snake' and slept with it like a scarf for years

My goal for this year is to try and actually use some of the yarns in my stash. I went to the Smokey Moutain Spinnery this last September and I finally got around to trying to put the yarn I bought away.
Except my cedar chest where I keep my yarn was already so full it wasn't closing fully.😮‍💨 So stashbusting time it is. Luckily I switched off the overnight shift back in November, so I'm finally not exhausted all the time.
I know I have yarns from when I first started knitting and couldn't afford anything other than acrylics that I want to use first. Then maybe some of my newer squishies!
I started both the ten stitch blanket and the ten stitch twist blanket this week to eat through some of it. The regular one is using Red heart soft yarn in seafoam and Heather grey which are actually the first two yarns I ever bought...back in 2014.
Tumblr media
The twist blanket is going to be in Caron simply soft in bone and dark sage. Also at least 10 years old.

And I've got a baby blanket on the go, but I've got a lot of the yarn that I use for baby blankets so I might just make a backlog of baby blankets with all of that yarn. That way I won't be 6 months late like I was with the last one.😅

Well good thing I decided to do a stashbusting ‘blanket’ with this….. it’s not exactly going to be huge. Still love these colours, that neon green holds a special place in my heart, even whilst I can admit I could never wear anything in any of these colours…. 💚💚💚

Adventures In Design: Stashbusting on a Self Drafted 3/4 Sleeve Tee
Today is National Fashion Day here in the U.S.A. The holiday was started in 2016, but I just learned of it today. To celebrate, I’m posting my latest make, a stashbuster tee that I made with my knit remnants. Some of my best ideas have come from working with leftover pieces of fabric that were used to make other garments. I have a large basket of stretch knit remnants that serve as inspiration…

I have about 24kg of yarn. This is a LOT! For me, stashbusting means to use up leftovers that will simply sit in the stash and take up space, because I do not knit tiny things.
Things I have made to use up scraps are cowls ...

And this little baby hat ...

And a bunch of socks ...

... and much more.
This is probably just because I mostly make amigurumi but one thing I don’t understand is stash busting. Why would I do a project just to get rid of one color when I might need that color to make doll shoes in six months? Making little critters with lots of color changes and different little parts is so difficult when you’re just starting out in a fiber arts hobby and you don’t have many colors but you only need two feet of yarn in a color for the current project

I finished this at the beginning of December but completely forgot to post it (>﹏<;) I was inspired by the other fine people making yarnfellows based on @sleepnoises' lovely work and decided to make my own little amigurumi fellow
