“Welcome to Steven Stone’s Stevember Student Lectures of the Shifting Space. This month, we will learn to define the terms: universe, dimension, and reality. From there, we will also learn examples of the three, how to differentiate the three, and the many misconsceptions that arise from using these terms interchangeably.”

“No, this is not a formal college lecture. No, I will not be continuing this series after this month, for your sake and mine. I am only here out of obligation for the mun’s monthly holiday of “Stevember”. And no, I’m not an expert. Don’t quote me on anything I explain today, my knowledge is limited to the rudimentary information the mun looked up on the morning of June 1st, 2018. Any way, let’s begin.”

“Firstly, before we can define anything else, we must learn what a dimension is. A dimension is any plane of existence where, if the laws of physics within said dimension permits it, at least one universe can exist. For example, we all know what paper is. It’s flat. It’s one dimensional. Say I stacked two more pages on top of it. Now we have three peices of paper, or three dimensions.”

“Now, that isn’t to say dimensions are all one-dimensional. In fact, some, if not all dimensions, overlap each other. How so? Let’s go back to the paper example. Say I had a permanent marker. The ink on a permanent marker is so strong that it bleeds through paper. If I were to place a dot on the stacks of paper with said marker, and then glanced at every individual piece, we would see that the dot bled through all three pages, right? This dot, young padawan, is the representation of a universe.”

“What is a universe, then? A universe is a specific realm where time and space (or matter) meet. Universes can either be inhabited by any living being, or completely inhabited. Let’s go back to the dot example. Did that dot come out of nowhere? No, I put it there. I took the time to take the cap off of the marker and place it on any space within the stacks of paper. Time and space meeting together to create one dot, or one universe. There are numerous examples of a universe: the Pokemon Universe, the Mobian Universe, the Steven Universe Universe. Haha. Despite my redundancy, I think it’s quite clear: without time or space, you cannot have a universe. This is why any plane of existence that is devoid of time or space would be considered a dark dimension, or a void of existence.”

“Last, but certainly not least, is reality. What is reality? Reality is any instance of time (within a universe) where a decision of a course of events has been made. Now, I know what you’re probably thinking: Are you suggesting that any mundane decision I make can create a new reality? Yes. This phenomena, dear readers, is what we call the Many Worlds Interpretation. Or the gist of it, at least. Unfortunately, we are out of time, and I am all out of patience. Tune in next week for more examples of dimensions, universes, and reality. Who knows? I may have a guest speaker next week to enlighten us on the realities of the Pokemon Universe. Until then, this has been Steven Stone’s Student- ...Oh, whatever. You get the point.”
