Haven't made a Family Ties post in a hot minute.

Was watching the FT Pluto channel while sick in bed this week, and caught the "Beauty and the Bank" episode, which I haven't seen in a long time (or more than once or twice I think) because Alex is so annoying for the majority of it.

But anyway, there's a sweet scene at the end when Alex comes home late and finds Steven still up and making hot chocolate for Andy, who can't sleep. Steven mentions how he used to make the cocoa all the time for Alex whenever he was upset.

Steven: "Say you'd only gotten a 98 on a test or something. You'd be up in your bed crying. It used to calm you down."

Alex: "Yeah, I remember. We used to stay up all night. Talk about politics."

Steven: "Then I would start crying."

It's just so Steven and Alex. Your Supremely Gifted Child™ is laying in bed sobbing over the absolute failure that he is (got a 98), so you whip up a cup of your world famous hot cocoa and sit up all night with him indulging in his special interest to make him feel better. His political opinions soon bring you to tears, but at least he's calmed down.

I love them.

i have developed the silliest attachment to steven keaton. how to describe him? like idk he's just some dad he's also a protesting environmentalist he's also a guy's guy but he's the biggest wife guy he dresses like a gay painter most of the time he's been arrested three times he loves his kids he's a frisbee champ he was naked at woodstock he won the midwest murray award for outstanding documentary for the egret's regret

Stunt work doesn’t have a category at The Oscars and I hope that’ll change someday. So many films have smashed it this year. Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd and Chaplin were stunt performers as well as filmmakers. Telling stories with their entire bodies. This D&W stunt team over-delivered. A lot of them are friends I’ve worked with for years and I’ll spend the rest of my days doodling their names in my Heidi Stationary, dotting all the “i’s” with little hearts. I’ve worked with Alex Kyshkovych since the very first @deadpoolmovie. He not only doubles me — he’s the Fight Coordinator. I’d take a sledgehammer to the face for Alex. Or rather, I’d ask Alex to take a sledgehammer to the face for Alex. Second Unit Director/Supervising Stunt Coordinator, George Cottle is a HUGE GET. You’ve seen his genius in Spider-Man NWH along with a ton of other gems. His skill is world class and he made the entire film better. I’d let Alex to take a rusty fork to the eye for George. It’s mind boggling how much @RealHughJackman does himself. But Daniel Stevens steps in for the truly dangerous stuff. He’s been “Wolverining” a long time. As we know, Wolverining is HARD. I’d ask Alex to eat the crab salad I left on the dashboard for three straight days for Dan. Huge shoutout to Andy Lister for bringing a new and insane Wolvie gear to the Deadpool Corps fight as well.
