Day 10 #stradaeasel challenge "The Elephant in the Room" 8" x 10" oil on linen panel, 2021 I tried chasing the sunlight again in the studio today, so this little elephant ended up skulking in the shadows. I think it made for a stronger, more dramatic composition than my original setup with all the objects in the scene fully lit. Day 24 #stradaeasel challenge I stepped out of the studio and into the living room today to paint this lovely gourd pile. We harvested these back in September, and many are still in good shape! Day 26 #stradaeasel challenge I'm really enjoying all the reflected light opportunities to be found in the folds of drapery; it reminds me a lot of the way light gets reflected in the shadows of snowbanks (it is the same principle, after all). In this cloth snowbank I saw fit to situate a partially unwrapped satsuma, in an effort to paint it one last time before it began to grow mold.
