Structural, MEPH, and Building Services: The Pillars of Building Excellence
In the realm of construction, there exists a complex and fascinating world of acronyms, plans, and blueprints, each contributing to the creation of remarkable structures. Among these, three crucial components stand as the unsung heroes that make architectural dreams come true. These components are Structural Engineering, MEPH (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Heating) Systems, and Building Services.

While the average person may not be familiar with these terms, they are the unyielding pillars that uphold the principles of building excellence. Together, they ensure that every structure, whether it's a towering skyscraper or a cozy home, is not just a work of art but a functional, safe, and sustainable living space.
Demystifying the Pillars: Structural Engineering
At the core of every building, there's a skeletal system, often hidden from plain sight. This is where structural engineering comes into play. Structural engineers design the framework that supports the entire structure. This framework includes everything from the foundation that keeps the building standing to the beams and columns that distribute the weight. In essence, structural engineering is the backbone, and without a strong backbone, the building would crumble.
MEPH: The Unseen Marvel
These are the systems that breathe life into any building. Here's what each component represents:
Mechanical Systems:Â These systems manage heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC). They ensure that a building's climate is comfortable and that the air remains fresh.
Electrical Systems:Â The electrical systems in a building are the circulatory system of the modern world. They provide the power needed to light the rooms, run appliances, and charge your devices.
Plumbing Systems:Â Plumbing engineers design the systems that deliver clean water and remove waste. They bring us clean drinking water and ensure that wastewater is safely carried away.
Heating Systems:Â During cold winters or chilly nights, heating systems provide warmth and comfort. Whether it's central heating, radiant floors, or HVAC systems, they are designed by MEPH engineers.
Building Services: Putting the Pieces Together
Building Services is like the conductor of an orchestra, bringing together various elements for harmonious living. It includes facility management, security systems, and elevators, among other things. Building Services ensures that a building runs like a well-oiled machine.
Why Are These Pillars Important?
Safety:Â Without sound structural engineering, buildings can be dangerous. Weak foundations, improperly designed roofs, or insufficient fire protection systems can lead to disaster. Structural engineering ensures a building's safety.
Functionality:Â MEPHÂ systems transform a lifeless structure into a comfortable and livable space. Imagine a building without heating or electricity. It makes sure these systems function effectively.
Energy Efficiency:Â The world is moving toward sustainable practices, and The engineers play a significant role. They design systems that reduce energy consumption, making buildings eco-friendly.
Comfort:Â Building Services encompasses everything from access control to elevator systems, providing convenience and comfort to occupants.
Innovation: Innovations in structural engineering, MEPH systems, and building services continuously push the boundaries of what is possible in construction. From energy-efficient designs to smart technologies, innovation remains at the heart of these pillars.
Conclusion:
These three pillarsâStructural Engineering, MEPH Systems, and Building Servicesâare the unsung heroes of the construction world. They ensure that buildings are not just marvels of design but safe, functional, energy-efficient, and comfortable spaces where people can live, work, and thrive. The next time you enter a building, take a moment to appreciate the complexity and precision of these hidden pillars of building excellence.

PART 4
Chapter 13
Almost 3 weeks later
Calina approached the small suburban house on leaden feet. She wanted nothing more than to get back on her bike, return to her hotel room and lock herself away from the world.
But that was the old Calina. The one who ran when things got hard. The one who hid behind serums, and shut herself off from her loved ones, instead of confronting the pain of being human.Â
She was trying to be better.
Her intensive counselling sessions with Dr Gossard were helping. The tablets sheâd been prescribed - proper FDA-approved and widely used anti-anxiety medication - was helping. And having an explanation for what was wrong with her had helped the most.
After their first conversation three weeks ago, Dr Gossard had ordered a PET scan of her brain. And the images had revealed that her amygdala was well and truly fucked. Of course, that wasnât the actual scientific analysis. The neurologist had spoken of âunco-ordinated pathwaysâ and âsignalling irregularitiesâ. Dr Gossardâs theory was that her amygdala was underdeveloped to start with - due to the Red Roomâs mind control - and the modified serum Melina designed for her had damaged it further.
Anya had come at it from a different perspective. âThink of your amygdala like a filing cabinet,â sheâd explained. âEach drawer contains an emotion, with instructions on how to recognise it, and how to react to it, and even how to cope with it. Thanks to the Red Room, you - and the rest of us Widows - are lacking some of those instructions. Especially the ones about coping - thatâs why you struggled so much after the Vanishing. But when you took the serum, you essentially tipped your filing cabinet over, emptied it out, and now all your files are jumbled up and scattered all over the floor.â
The metaphor - whether it was strictly accurate or not - had helped. It proved that what she was going through wasnât normal. And it gave her a framework for getting better - she just had to re-wire her brain. Get those files back in the right order.
It sounded impossible, but Dr Gossard assured it would happen - with enough therapy and time.
Which meant she wasnât cured yet. She still struggled to recognise what she was feeling. She still found her emotions overwhelming, and she still had moments where she broke down or lashed out. But she had some strategies to help her now. Most had come from Dr Gossard.
And one was tucked away at the bottom of her backpack, contained within a little glass vial.
It was the last dose of serum - the one that had fallen under her bed weeks ago, before the battle in New York and everything that had followed. Sheâd come across it a few days ago by accident when retrieving one of Nikaâs toys. The sight of that little ampoule of amber liquid had forced all the air from Calinaâs lungs. Sheâd sat on the floor, cradling it in her palm for what felt like hours, battling the desire to find a syringe and inject it into herself. She could almost feel the numbing relief it would bringâŠ
But then Nika had grabbed the toy from her other hand, and woofed happily. Calina had glanced down into her dogs sweet brown eyes, and felt a wave of tenderness swell over her. And in that moment - just for that moment - she didnât feel the need to numb anything. She wanted to bask in that love, and the bond she felt with Nika.
So sheâd shoved the vial in her backpack, where it had lived ever since.
It was comforting, knowing it was there. Just in case one day it all got too much.
It was a safety net.
And it gave her the courage to come here tonight, to this little house in Brooklyn.
Something she should have done long before now.
Calina took a deep breath, clenched the strap of her backpack, and knocked on Karenâs door.
âââ
She was greeted with a hug, Karenâs slender arms clenching her around the shoulders. âIâm so glad youâre okay.â
âIâm okay,â Calina replied, her own arms around Karenâs waist.
She felt a tug on her jacket. âLina!â
She glanced down at Izzy, her little arms outstretched. âHug?â
âOf course you get a hug.â
She swapped Karenâs embrace for the weight of Izzy in her arms, those little arms now squeezing her around the neck. She breathed in the scent of innocence, and had to fight back tears. This was what sheâd been denying herself all these years?
Sheâd always felt a bond with Izzy, from the moment sheâd held her in the crook of her arm and stroked her soft cheek. But it was nothing compared to the reality of her feelings.
She loved this little girl. The strength of the emotion was dizzying. She felt her heart almost explode with it.
Izzy leaned back in her arms and smiled, oblivious to the seismic shift taking place within Calina. âDoggy?â she asked in her sweet piping voice.Â
Calina laughed, a wet, tearful sound. âYou only want me for my dog, donât you?â She kissed the toddler on her forehead and apologised. âSorry, Nika had to stay at home for this trip.â
Izzy stuck her lower lip out in an exaggerated pout and stared up at her through her lashes.
Calina laughed again. âWhere did she learn that?â She looked at Karen for the answer, expecting to see her smiling at her daughterâs antics. Instead she stood watching Calina intently, a frown furrowing her brow.
âWhat is it?â Calina asked, letting Izzy slide to the floor.
Karen shook her head. âI donât know. Thereâs something soâŠdifferentâŠabout you.â
Calina bit her lip. Then nodded. âI have a lot to tell you.â
âââ
They were sitting at the kitchen table, a bottle of wine between them. Izzy had been put to bed half an hour ago, and the two adults had retreated to the back of the house to indulge in a glass of Malbec.
âI usually just drink beer with Frank, so this is a nice change,â Karen commented as she pulled out the cork.
âWhere is he tonight?â
âAt his place.â
âI thought he was practically living here now.â
âHe is, but he still has a couple of months left on his lease. I think it's good for him to have somewhere he can escape to when itâs all getting a bit too much for him. Besides, he always makes himself scarce whenââ
âWhen what?â
Karen shook her head. âNothing.â She glanced at her watch again. The movement was subtle, but Calina was trained to notice these things.
âWhatâs going on? Are you expecting someone?â Calina asked.
âNice try, trying to change the subject. But weâre here to talk about you.â She leaned back in her seat and pinned Calina with a stare - and Calina saw the echos of the investigative reporter she once was. âSo talk. Whatâs been going on with you? Why did it take you almost two months to come see me, and why have you been avoiding Matt?â
Calina winced at the sound of his name. She dodged Karenâs probing gaze and played with the stem of her glass. âItâs a long story.â
âHow long?â
âIt starts three years ago. After I had myâŠepisodeâŠin the Memorial Park.â
She glanced up to see Karen frowning at her again. "Really?"
"Really," Calina nodded. She dropped her gaze again, took a deep breath, then told Karen everything. About going to Melina. Taking the serum. The fight in New York against Thanosâ army. Her injuries, how long it had taken to heal them, and the problems sheâd been having since. âIâm sorry I didnât contact you when I woke up. I was justâŠI honestly thought I was going crazy. Iâve never felt so out of control in my life, and it- it scared me.â
Karen said nothing. She just stood up and walked to the window looking out onto her garden. She stayed there, staring out into the darkness, her back to Calina.
âKaren?â
Karen turned around, one arm crossed over her stomach. âAll that timeâŠall those yearsâŠyou were lying to me?â
Calina bit her lip, and nodded.
âYou knew how much it hurt me when Matt kept his secrets from me. I thought he was my friend, and he deceived and manipulated me. And then you did the exact same thing. You came here for years, talking with me, laughing with me, playing with my daughter, and bringing her presents, and making her love you, and all that time you felt nothing? All that time it was just an act.â
âNo!â Calina protested, hating the sound of betrayal in Karenâs voice. âI mean, it was sort of an act, but it was all real as well.â She scrubbed her forehead, trying to find the words to describe something she barely understood herself. âI was still feeling everything, it was just buried. Cordoned off. But some of it always seeped through - especially around Izzy. It was as if I loved her so much, there was no way to block it completely. And I do love her. I love you - youâre my best friend Karen. And Iâm so sorry. Iâm sorry for lying to you, but I knew taking that serum was wrong, and I couldnât admit what I was doing. I was too ashamed. And Iâm sorry for being so weak, and taking the easy way out, but I didnât know what else to do! I didnât know how else to survive!â
She felt the sharp, shallow rise and fall of her chest, her breath hitching as she tried not to cry. But she lost the battle. A sob escaped her lips, and she buried her face in her hands as her tears broke free.
She felt gentle hands on her shoulders as Karen crouched down beside her. âShhh, Calina. Itâs okay. Iâm not blaming you for taking the serum. I understand that part of it - I was there, remember? After the Memorial Park? I saw what state you were in, and I was so worried about you back then. But then you turned up a few months later and you were so much better, and I was so relieved that Iââ
Calina sat back up and wiped her eyes. âWhat?â she whispered.
Karen sat back down next to her. âI guess I was just glad I didnât have to worry about you. I was pregnant by that point and stressed out about the baby, and I knew something was wrong with David. I was glad I didnât have to worry about you, so I never really pried into why you were suddenly so much better.â
âI wouldnât have told you, even if you had.â
âAnd thatâs what hurts the most - the lying. So please donât ever do that to me again.â
âI wonât. I swear.â
Karen blew out a long breath. âIn the spirit of honestyâŠI should probably tell you that Mattâs on his way here.â
Calina jerked her head up. âWhat?â
âHeâs coming over for dinner.â She looked at her watch again - openly this time. âHeâs late, as usual.â
Calina staggered to her feet, shaking her head. âI have to go. I can't be here."
Karen grabbed her arm. âNo. Please stay - heâs desperate to see you.â
âI canât. Karen, IÂ canât. Not like this.â She could already feel herself starting to come apart, all those unnamed and confusing emotions rushing into her like a torrent. Her heart started hammering in her chest, and the urge to run was overwhelming.
âCalina, he loves you. Heââ
âHe loved the old me - the one he thought was strong, and brave and had her shit together. But she doesnât exist anymore, Karen. Iâm a mess, now. Iâm weak and a coward andââ
âYouâre none of those things.â
She could feel tears fill her eyes again as she pleaded with her friend to understand. âPlease,â she said on a broken whisper. âI donât want him to see me like this.â
Karen let go of her wrist. âOkay. Okay. If you donât want to see him, can you at least call him? Heâs been putting on an act lately - like you did - but I can see how difficult heâs finding all of this.â
Guilt welled up inside Calina. She could only imagine how he must be feeling after suddenly being catapulted into this strange new world. But the guilt wasnât strong enough to override her fear. She opened her mouth to tell Karen that sheâd try to call him, but a knock sounded from the front door.
The two women froze.
Karen gave her a look. It was a plea to reconsider, and resigned acceptance all at once. Then she sighed and left the kitchen. Calina heard the front door open moments later.Â
âOh, hey,â Karen said in greeting, her voice breathy and high-pitched. âI, um, figured you werenât going to make it.â
âYeah, sorry about that.â
Calina gasped at the sound of Mattâs voice. Even quiet and muffled by the kitchen door, it was the most amazing thing sheâd ever heard. Because it was him.
Finally, after all these years, it was him.
He was really back.
Calina clamped a hand over her mouth to stifle a sob. She wanted to run through the door and into his arms and have the last five years be nothing but a terrible dreamâŠ
But she couldnât do it. She couldnât make herself take even a tiny step forward.
Instead she lifted her jacket from the back of her chair, and snuck out the back door. She moved slowly, silently, desperate not to attract his attention. Eventually she made it through the back gate, down the path, and onto the main road. But just as she swung her leg over her bike, the pounding of footsteps rang out behind her. Then, âCalina!â
Her head whipped around, and she gasped again.
Because there he was.
He wasnât a muted voice down a hallway. Or a blurry photograph on her phone. He wasnât a conjured memory, or a visitor to her dreams, indistinct and ephemeral.
He was there, 20 feet away from her. Real and alive.
She drank him in.
The way he stood on the sidewalk, one foot frozen in front of the other, hand outstretched as if he was trying to hold her place with the force of his will. His dark hair, slightly dishevelled; his stubble, so much longer than she was used to; and his eyes hidden from her behind familiar red glasses.
He was alive.
He licked his lipsâ and oh, his beautiful, curved top lip was split and healing from a fist. And that somehow made him seem even more alive, because of course he was Daredevil, as well as Matt.
âCalina.â
Her heart stopped.
But then he took a step towards her. âCallieââ And the sound of that name on his lips broke her. She wasnât his Callie anymore. She hadnât been that person for five long, tortured years.
And she didnât know if she ever could be again.
She wrenched her eyes from his, started her bike and tore away from him down the street.
âââ
The ride back to the hotel was a blur. All she remembered was clutching the handlebars so tight she thought the skin over her knuckles would split. As if her grip on the bike was the only thing keeping her from shattering into a million pieces.
She strode into the lobby after parking her bike, and veered straight for the bar. She couldnât face going up to her room, where thereâd be no distractions from her thoughts. And she really needed a drink.
Or five.
âShot of Vodkaâ she ordered. She collapsed onto the stool, propped her elbows on the marbled bar top and dropped her head in her hands.
Almost immediately, the man whoâd been seated three stools down sidled up to her. âLet me get that for you, sweetheart.â
Calina flinched at the pet name - the one Matt would often use. But whereas heâd said it with loving affection, this man laced it with oily smarm. âI can buy my own drink.â she replied without lifting her head.
âYeah, take a hike sleazeball,â a voice chimed in. A very distinctive voice - one which made Calinaâs head whip around. She watched in disbelief as her long-lost sister jumped onto the stool next to her.
âHey,â Yelena greeted her, her raspy voice casual, as if theyâd made plans to meet up here. As if theyâd just seen each other yesterdayâŠinstead of five and a half years ago.
âHey?â Calina parroted. âJust, âHeyâ?â
Yelena shrugged.
Calina leaned over and pulled the other Widow into a crushing hug. She felt Yelenaâs arms snake around her waist, her hold much looser.
Calina let Yelena go, and sat back. She felt the familiar burn of tears behind her eyes, but strangely no other symptoms of an impending breakdown reared their head. Maybe the last hour had wrung her out so completely, even her screwed-up emotions were taking a break to recover.
âWhere have you been?â Yelena hadnât been in Wakanda when sheâd woken up. She hadnât been in Geneva, either. After the battle in New York, sheâd basically dropped off the face of the planet.
âAround. Went to see Melina for a while. Then justâŠâ Another shrug. âAnya said you were staying here, so I thought Iâd say âHeyâ, and yell at you for stealing my dog.â
Calina recognised the last bit as a joke. But there was no levity to it. There was barely any inflection in Yelenaâs voice at all. She seemed listless, flat. Smaller than Calina remembered, and lacking her usual fire.
Grief did that to people.
âIâm so sorry about Natasha.â
The bartender arrived with her drink and Calina passed it to Yelena before ordering two more. Yelena threw back the shot and slammed the glass onto the bar top. âIronic, isn't it.â she said. âThe whole world got their loved ones returned, but I lost mine in the process. Wait - is that irony? I always forget what it means. Maybe itâs not irony. Maybe itâs just my eternal bad fucking luck.â
Calina didnât know what to say. And she knew from experience, that there wasnât anything she could say that would ease Yelenaâs pain. So she just sat beside her friend and drank.
âDid you go to see him tonight?â Yelena asked after her sixth shot.
âMatt?â
âNo, Captain fucking America. Of course Matt.â
âNo,â Calina replied, twirling her wine glass on the bar top - sheâd given up on vodka after shot number four. âI went to see Karen, a friend. Matt came, though. I- I didnât know he would be there, so I panicked and ran.â
She could still hear his voice as he called her name on the street. His deep, beautiful voice. It had been full of such hurt, and confusion, and disbeliefâŠand a thousand other things she couldnât recognise. She felt the burn of acid in her gut, guilt eating away at her. And she knew the only reason she wasnât falling off the deep end and having another emotionally unstable crazy woman episode was because the alcohol was numbing the worst of her emotions.
So she took another large sip.
âWhy did you run?â
Calina stared at her in disbelief. âDidnât you hear what IâŠdid? With the serum?â
âYeah. I heard. Anya told me when I checked in yesterday. Who cares?â
ââWho caresâ?â
âYeah, as far as Iâm concerned those five years donât count. The news is already referring to it as a blip. So thatâs what it was. A blip. Meaningless. All that matters is what you do now.â
AÂ blip.
Calina felt her jaw clench. The most cataclysmic event in human historyâŠreduced to a fucking blip. A minor inconvenience. Like the world merely took a wrong turn on a road trip, and was now back on track.
All that grief. All that pain.
Reduced to a fucking blip.
It was insulting.
Infuriating.
Calina felt her gut burn again - in anger this time, instead of guilt. White noise filled her head, and she squeezed the glass she was holding so tight it shattered.
âFuck!â Yelena yelled, the most animated sheâd been all night.
Calina shook off the wine coating her hand and slid from her stool. âI need some air,â she gritted out.
Yelena found her outside moments later, pacing the small alley beside the hotel. She shoved a wad of napkins at her. âYouâre bleeding.â
Calina glanced at the jagged cut across her palm, the oozing blood appearing black in the moonlight. She didnât feel the pain.
She only felt rage.
Rage that was building by the second. Rage that felt like it would detonate insider her, blow her apart if she didnât do something.
So she spun around, pulled back her arm and punched the brick wall.
Hard.
She felt the pain now. But it just fuelled her on. She cocked her arm, ready for another hit, but Yelena grabbed it instead, twisting it behind her back. âWhat the fuck are you doing, Calina?â
Calina wrenched herself out of the hold. âGo away, Yelena.â
âNot while youâre like this.â
She pushed the shorter Widow back. âGo!â
Yelena stumbled back a step, startled. Then she narrowed her eyes. Clenched her fists.
And attacked.
Calina dodged the first punch, catching Yelenaâs fist in her hand. She grunted at the impact against her cut palm. Then she flung the hand away and followed up with a jab to Yelenaâs flank.
Yelena retaliated by sweeping Calinaâs legs.
And so it went on, the only sound in the dark, damp alleyway the thud of kicks landing and punches hitting, and both women breathing hard as they took their anger out on each other.
Until eventually Yelena had Calina pinned on the ground. Both were flagging by that point. Neither had been out in the field for over a month, and they were feeling the effects of that - as well as all the alcohol sloshing around their systems.
âYield?â Yelena panted.
âSince when do we yield?â
âSince Iâm fucking tired, and sore, and want to get out of this rat-infested alley.â
At that, all the fight went out of Calina. She dropped her head to the ground and nodded. âOkay, okay. I yield.â
Yelena stood up and offered her hand. Calina took it, and dragged herself to her feet.
She pressed her fingers to her cheek, wincing at what was bound to become a spectacular bruise tomorrow. Various other aches and pains let themselves known - including the torn skin on her knuckles and the sharp wound across her palm. She prodded at the cut, checking for any glass shards, and flexed her fingers, assessing movement.
âYou good?â Yelena asked.
âYeah. No tendon damage.â
âI wasnât asking about your hand. I was asking if you were good. Are you over whatever the hell that was?â
âThat was what I was trying to explain to you. Thatâs what Iâve been like ever since I stopped taking the serum - Iâm either collapsing in on myself, or Iâm lashing out and hurting people. Itâs why I canât see Mattââ
Yelena scoffed. âYou donât think your vigilante boyfriend can handle you?â
âHe shouldnât have to!â
âI think heâd feel differently, if you gave him the choice.â
Calina shook her head. âWhy are you pushing this? You were never a fan of me and Matt.â
âBecause youâre wasting what she gave you,â she growled. âAnd itâs pissing me off.â
âWhat are you talking about?â
âNatasha. She died- no, she sacrificed herself - to try to make everything right. To put the world back together. My sister died to give you another chance with Matt, and youâre throwing that away. Itâs like youâre spitting on her death.â
The words stole Calina's breath - even more effectively than the elbow sheâd taken to the solar plexus just five minutes ago. âYelena,â she whispered. âI- I didnât meanââ
Yelena shut her down. âForget it,â she sighed. âI donât want to hear it.â
Calina bit her lip.
âMake sure you clean that hand. And ice your cheek.â
Calina nodded, feeling a hint of relief. If Yelena was fussing over her injuries, she couldnât be too mad at her. âThanks. I will. AndâŠIâll think about what you said.â
âGood. Do that. Otherwise Iâll come find you again, and beat you up some more.â
Tough love, Yelena-style.
Calina smiled.
Sheâd really missed it.

Militant about joy
We want to connect joy to militancy for a number of reasons. We are interested in how the capacity for refusal and the willingness to fight can be enabling, relational, and can open up potentials for collective struggle and movement, in ways that are not necessarily associated with control, duty, or vanguardism. We want an expansive conception of militancy that affirms the potential of transformation at the expense of comfort, safety, or predictability. A common definition of militancy is to be âvigorously active, combative and aggressive, especially in support of a cause.â[29] We are interested in the ways that putting joy into contact with militancy helps link fierce struggle with intense affect: rebellions and movements are not only about determined resistance, but about opening up collective capacities. With joyful militancy we want to get at what it means to enliven struggle and care, combativeness and tenderness, hand in hand.
However, the historical associations and current renderings of militancy are complex. Historically, militancy is often associated with Marxist-Leninist and Maoist vanguardism, and the ways these ideologies have informed revolutionary class struggle and national liberation struggles. These ideals of militancy have been challenged, especially by Black, Indigenous, and postcolonial feminists, who have pointed out the pitfalls of rigid ideology, patriarchal leadership, and the neglect of care and love. The traditional figure of the militantâzealous, rigid, and ruthlessâhas also been challenged by situationism, anarchism, feminism, queer politics, and other currents that have connected direct action and struggle to the liberation of desire, foregrounding the importance of creativity and experimentation. From this perspective, the militant is the one who is always trying to control things, to take charge, to educate, to radicalize, and so on. This kind of militant tends to be two steps behind transformations as they manifest themselves, always finding them lacking the correct analysis or strategy, always imposing a framework or program.
The contemporary discourse of counterterrorism associates figures of militancy with ISIL,{2} the Taliban, and other groups named as enemies of the United States and its allies. In this way, the specter of the âmilitant extremistâ helps justify further militarization, surveillance, imperialism and Islamophobia. The suspected presence of one militant is enough to turn a whole area into a strike zone in which all military-aged men are conceived as enemy combatants, and everyone else as collateral damage. Within this discourse, the militant is increasingly the ultimate Other, to be targeted for death or indefinite detention. In all of these representationsâfrom the Maoist rebel to the terrorist extremistâthe figure of the militant tends to be associated with intense discipline, duty, and armed struggle, and these ways of being are often posed in opposition to being supple, responsive, or sensitive. Itâs clear that militancy means willingness to fight, but in its dominant representations, it is cold and calculating.
At the same time, there are other currents of militancy that make space for transformation and joy. When we interviewed her, queer Filipino organizer Melanie Matining spoke about its potential to break down stereotypes:
The word âmilitancyâ for me is a really, really hard one. It was used a lot in Filipino organizing. I would always connect it to the military industrial complex, and I didnât want to replicate that. And then as I started peeling back the actual things we need to do⊠As an Asian woman, to be militantâthatâs really fucking rad. It breaks down sterotypes of submissiveness. The concept of militancy is a new thing for me, and to embrace it Iâm unpacking notions of who Iâm supposed to be.[30]
Artist and writer Jackie Wang argues that militancy is not only tactically necessary, but transformative for those who embody it. In the context of anti-Blackness in the United States, Wang shows how the category of âcrimeâ has been constructed around Blackness and how mass incarceration has led to a politics of safety and respectability that relies on claims of innocence, contrasted implicitly with (Black) guilt and criminality. Rejecting the politics of innocence means challenging the innocent/criminal dichotomy and the institutionalized violence that subtends it. This form of militancy, Wang argues, is ânot about assuming a certain theoretical posture or adopting a certain perspectiveâit is a lived position.â[31] Drawing on Frantz Fanon, Wang writes that militancy has the capacity âto transform people and âfundamentally alterâ their being by emboldening them, removing their passivity and cleansing them of the âcore of despairâ crystallized in their bodies.â[32] Living militancy, from this perspective, is inherently connected to a process of transformation that undoes the knot of subjection around innocence, challenges the carceral logics of anti-Blackness, and opens up new terrains of struggle.
When we asked Indigenous political theorist Glen Coulthard about his conception of militancy in the context of Indigenous resurgence, he called it an âemergent radicalismâ that destabilizes relations of domination.[33] Coulthardâs work focuses on Indigenous resurgence and resistance to settler colonialism. He reveals the ways that Empire represents Indigenous peoplesâ oppression as a constellation of personal failings and âissuesâ to be addressed through colonial recognition and reconciliation. He also focuses on Indigenous refusal and resistance, the revaluation of Indigenous traditions, and a rise in Indigenous militancy and direct action. Militancy, in the context of Indigenous resurgence, is about the capacity to break down colonial structures of control, including the stateâs monopoly on the legitimate use of force; it is a break with the colonial stateâs attempt to subjugate Indigenous people and ensure continued exploitation of Indigenous lands. This emergent militancy isnât based on a single program or ideology, but comes out of relationships, as Coulthard says:
Itâs emergent in the sense that itâs bottom-up. But it also emerges from something, and thatâs those relationships to land, place, community. So that is the emergent part. Emergent doesnât mean entirely new, because those relationships to place are not new. Theyâve always been there, and are always re-emerging. It comes in cycles. The always-there emergent militancy is acted on through management strategies, recognition and accommodation, whatever. That has its effects: it dampens the crisis, it overcomes contradictions temporarily. And then the militancy will emerge again. And weâve seen this four or five times in the last half-century, these series of containment/management strategies. âŠWhatâs always prior is agency of Indigenous peoples, and capital and the state are constantly on the defensive, reacting. As opposed to thinking that weâre always reacting to colonialism, when we privilege it. Itâs this resurgent Indigenous subjectivity that the state is constantly trying to quell or subdue. And itâs successful, but never totally successful. And it boils over, comes to the surface, and some new technology is deployed in order to manage it, and reconciliation is the latest tool that is doing that work. But itâs always because of our persistent presence: weâve never gone away and weâve been articulating alternatives in words and deeds.[34]
This conception of militancy as emergent is important because it doesnât come out of thin air, or from an enlightened vanguard of militarized men who suppose that they can see things more clearly than common people. It comes out of the ongoing refusal of Indigenous peoples to give up their ways of life. As Kiera Ladner and Leanne Betasamosake Simpson write in their introduction to This is an Honour Song,
The summer of 1990 brought some strong medicine to Turtle Island. For many Canadians, âOkaâ was the first time they encountered Indigenous anger, resistance and standoff, and the resistance was quickly dubbed both the âOka Crisisâ and the âOka Crisesâ by the mainstream media. But to the Kanienâkehaka (Mohawk) people of Kanehsata:ke, who were living up their responsibilities to take care of their lands, this was neither a âcrisisâ at Oka, nor was it about the non-Native town of âOka.â This was about 400 years of colonial injustice. Similarly, for the Kanienâkaehaka from Kahnawa:ke and Akwesasne who created âcrisesâ by putting up their own barricades on the Mercier Bridge or by mobilizing and/or mobilizing support (resources) at Kanehsata:ke, this really had nothing to do with Oka, a bridge or a golf course. This was about 400 years of resistance. Like every Indigenous nation occupied by Canada, the Haudenesaunee have been confronting state/settler societies and their governments since those societies began threatening the sovereignty, self-determination, and jurisdiction of the Haudenesaunee. It was not a beginning. Nor was this the end. This was a culmination of many, many years of Onhkwehonwe resistance resulting in a decision to put up barricades in defense of, and to bring attention to, Haudenesaunee land ethics, treaty responsibilities, and governance.[35]
Indigenous resurgence and events like Oka are not joyful in the sense of being happy, but in the sense that they are deeply transformative and able to catalyze solidarity across Turtle Island. But unlike Marxist conceptions of militancy in which the vanguard is supposed to usher in a global revolution, it is clear that Indigenous struggles do not implicate everyone in the same way. As it breaks down colonial structures of control and dispossession, Indigenous resurgence implicates us, as settlers, in complicated ways: it unsettles us and our relationship to land and place, and throws into question received ideas about who we are, our responsibilities and complicities, what it means to live here, and our received ideas about what âhereâ is. It compels us to learn, together, how to support Indigenous resurgence and resist settler colonial violence.
Joyful militancy has also emerged in spaces where people generate the capacity to move with despair and hopelessness, to politicize it. In her study of the queer movement ACT UP, queer theorist and activist Deborah Gould shows how their militant tactics not only won institutional victories that prolonged and saved lives; they were also a process of world-making:
From its start and throughout its life, ACT UP was a place to fight the AIDS crisis, and it was always more than that as well. It was a place to elaborate critiques of the status quo, to imagine alternative worlds, to express anger, to defy authority, to form sexual and other intimacies, to practice non-hierarchical governance and self-determination, to argue with one another, to refashion identities, to experience new feelings, to be changed.[36]
The militancy of ACT UP was not only about a willingness to be confrontational and defy conventions of straight society and mainstream gay and lesbian politics; the movement also created erotically-charged queer atmospheres and sustained networks of care and support for members who got sick. Catalyzed by grief and rage, it blew open political horizons and changed what was possible for people to think, do, and feel together.
When we asked the Argentina-based intellectual SebastiĂĄn Touza about militancy, he discussed the danger of defining it once and for all:
I donât know if militancy can be defined âas such.â Probably it is not a good idea to define it that way because that would entail a general point of view, an interchangeable and abstract concept, valid for all situations. But, on the other hand, I would say that a militant is somebody who struggles for justice in the situation ⊠Thus we have to pay attention to the situation, to the encounters that take place in it, to how meaning is elaborated there, to the subjectivities that arise as a result of those encounters.[37]
This âsituatedâ militancy does not start from a prefabricated notion of justice. It is an attempt to intervene effectively in the here and now, based on a capacity to be attuned to relationships. An example of this could be Touzaâs discussion of the struggle of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo, a feminist organization that formed in resistance to military repression in Argentina in the 1970s:
Mothers grew up not from strategic plans but from below: from the pain of mothers seeking to recover their children who had been kidnapped, tortured, and âdisappearedâ by the state. Because they have not separated affects from political activity, Mothers never consider each other means toward ends. Nobody has to be subordinated to strengthen the organization. Rather, they regard each other as ends in themselves. What bonds them together is not an idea but the affect, love and friendship that arises from supporting each other, sharing intimate emotions, moments of joy and sorrow. They organize themselves through consensus, understood not as a system of decision-making or conflict resolution, but as a direct engagement with the lives of one another. As in a now long established feminist tradition, for them the personal is political. Mothers guide themselves by an ethics of intimate conviction whose exercise cannot be detached from everyday life. They have a profound distrust of ideologies and party lines and are proud of their autonomy from the state, political parties, unions and NGOs. Their autonomy does not consist in fighting against a dominant ideology, which might summon the need for the specialized knowledge of a vanguard party, but rather ⊠in the affirmation of liberating aspects of popular culture that already exist among them.[38]
The Mothers are a powerful example of how militancy often springs from everyday life and the bonds of kinship, rather than abstract ideological or moral commitments. These struggles eventually waned or were absorbed by Empire, at least partially. The Argentinean government eventually began using the discourse of human rights and began to offer money and services as an attempt to relegitimize the state and regain control, causing deep divisions between the Mothers and other movements in Argentina.[39] The Canadian government used treaty negotiations, reconciliation discourses, and other formal processes in an attempt to quell Indigenous resurgence and militancy. As Coulthard explains above, new forms of militancy tend to provoke new strategies of containment and absorption by the state, leading to the invention of new forms of struggle. None of these movements stayed frozen in one form: in various ways they transformed, dissolved, shifted, or were institutionalized. But the fact that Empire always invents new forms of containment is not evidence that movements have âfailedâ or that they were misguided. Joyful transformation sometimes ebbs and flows, becomes captured or crushed, grows subtler or percolates into everyday life, but always re-emerges and renews itself.
Militancy is not a fixed ideal to approximate. We cannot be âlikeâ a militant because militancyâin the way we conceptualize it hereâis a practice that is based in the specificity of situations. We cannot become these examples, nor should we look to them as ideals. Rather than boiling joyful militancy down to a fixed way of being or a set of characteristics, we see it arising in and through the relationships that people have with each other. This means it will always look different, based on the emergent connections, relationships, and convictions that animate it.
In relation to this, we believe it is important to hesitate, lest our understanding of militancy become another form of rigid radicalism. Not everyone we spoke with has been enthusiastic about this word. For instance, in our interview with them, writer and artist Margaret Killjoy was ambivalent, emphasizing its connection to armed struggle:
I guess I see it as being someone who is âactivelyâ involved in trying to promote radical social change, and in a non-reformist way. Itâs dangerous as terminology ⊠I donât use it much myself ⊠because of course the first implication it seems to have is that of armed struggle, which is far from a universally applicable strategy or tactic.[40]
We hope that joyful militancy allows for questions and uncertainties that are too often smothered by conventional conceptions of militancy. We also recognize that many will still prefer different language. We are not suggesting that all joyful struggles share an ideology, a program, or a set of tactics. What the above examples have in common is that they express a form of militancy that is attuned to their local situations and arises from peopleâs needs, desires, and relationships. What we are calling joyful militancy is not a shared content, though we do think there are some shared values and sensibilities. Rather it is an attunement and activation of collective power that looks different everywhere, because everywhere is different.
Besides these highly visible examples, joyful militancy also lives in art and poetry that opens peopleâs capacities for thinking and feeling in new ways. It is expressed in quiet forms of subversion and sabotage, as well as all the forms of care, connection, and support that defy the isolation and violence of Empire. It is not a question of being a certain way, but a question of open-ended becoming, starting from wherever people find themselves.

First Time Investing in Crypto: Tips for New Traders on the Digital Coin Market
This has changed the financial landscape for good; it is the first time in history that investors have a share of this type since cryptocurrency entered the market. But then again, getting into the crypto market to begin with can be incredibly intimidating for a novice. This includes some key tips that you must know for making trade-offs more intelligent and how to invest in cryptocurrencies.
1. Understand the Basics

Understand the basic principles of what Cryptocurrency is, how it works before you invest. If you're unfamiliar, cryptocurrencies are basically decentralized systems, operating with a peer-to-peer framework, that let users do all sorts of things like get rewards for paying on time or using an app. Because they are not organically produced like typical tender, these financial tools are meant to be circulated in a decentralized way via blockchain networks. Educate yourself onwards like blockchain, altcoins, wallets and exchanges.
2. Do Your Research
The value of cryptocurrencies is influenced by a number of factors, and this makes it an extremely volatile market. Learn about various cryptocurrencies and how they are used. Tools like CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko show trends, rankings other handy information regarding ranging and past data. Follow us on Twitter for more news and updates on the Bitcoin space.
3. Diversify Your Portfolio

Investors apply diversification in their investment strategies. Diversify by investing in multiple cryptocurrencies I mean, everyone knows Bitcoin and Ethereum â why not looking a little bit further down the line at some promising altcoins with real fundamentals. A healthy mix of investments can ensure you have a little exposure to any type of gain or loss that may arise.
4. Only Invest What You Can Afford to Lose
The world of crypto is such that even the prices can and do tend to rise or crash in a jiffy, thanks to high volatility. Gamble only with money you can afford to lose without impacting your finances. Never borrow to invest in crypto or use your emergency savings for crypto investing. This approach ensures that you still are able to stay financially safe in case there's a downtrend.
5. Choose a Reliable Exchange

It is important to be sure that you deal with reliable cryptocurrency exchanges for safe trading. Search for exchanges with strong security protocols, a simple UI, and broad coin support. Some of the most trusted exchanges that people have been using include Binance, Coinbase and Kraken. Are they regulated and insured for digital assets.
6. Secure Your Investments
In the world of crypto, security is vital. Keep your cryptocurrencies on hardware wallets or in cold storage solutions; simply turn on 2FA in your exchange accounts and do not publish or disclose the private keys. Keep your software up to date and watch out for phishing attacks and malware.
7. Stay Informed and Adapt

As we know the crypto market is alive and never takes a nap. Learn from the market, regulatory and tech changes. Engage in some of the crypto community forums on platforms like Reddit, Twitter and Telegram to get the benefits of inside knowledge from other investors. Change your investment plan based on new informational and market circumstances
8. Have a Long-Term Perspective
Although there is money in short-term trading, it often requires quite a bit of time and skill to excel what you do. Long term investment strategy If you are beginner, Long term is the best way for you to invest your money from beginning. Look at the long term growth potential of cryptocurrencies instead of trying to make a quick buck. I read many books and listend to a lot of podcasts about the stock market, nearly all these sources agreed that patience and discipline was key to becoming a successful long-term investor.
9. Seek Professional Advice

If you are uncertain about the investments, you can get help from financial advisors or even some crypto experts. They can offer some personalized advice, depending on your financial goals and comfort with risk. Expert help will make it easier for you to manage the particularly volatile world of crypto.
Conclusion
Investing in cryptocurrency can also be a lucrative endeavor as long the trader is well-versed when it comes to his or her craft. These basic principles, combined with extensive research, establishing a diversified portfolio, and security first will put you in good stead on your crypto investment journey. The key is to stay informed, adapt and think long-term in order for you to succeed.

Japanâs Web3 Summit Kicks Off in Tokyo This August: A Global Game of Stablecoins, RWA, DeFi, and AI
#Japan #Stablecoin #RWA
After several bull and bear cycles in the global crypto market, Tokyo in 2025 seems poised for a heavyweight âindustry checkup.â From August 25 to 26, WebX 2025 will be held at The Prince Park Tower Tokyo, bringing together blockchain founders, investors, developers, and policymakers from all over the world.
At first glance, it may look like just another crypto industry conference. But if you take a closer look at the guest list and agenda, itâs not hard to see: this is Japanâs moment to present its âstrategic calling cardâ in the Web3 space to the world.
And the topics go far beyond short-term hot spots like coin prices and on-chain data â the focus is on the core tracks for the next 5 to 10 years: stablecoins, RWA tokenization, decentralized finance (DeFi), the convergence of AI and Web3, and the deep evolution of the Bitcoin ecosystem.
As industry observers, we are not just counting how many big names will show up, but also looking to see the trends and signals behind this event.

Japanâs Web3 Strategy: âAccelerationâ from Policy to Ecosystem
Japan is not a newcomer to crypto. As early as 2017, the Financial Services Agency of Japan took the lead in recognizing Bitcoin as legal tender and introduced an exchange licensing system. At the time, this was a highly forward-thinking move, laying a solid foundation for Japanâs position in Asiaâs crypto landscape.
Since 2023, the Japanese government has continued to send positive signals:
Tax optimization: Reducing the tax burden on companies holding tokens, encouraging more Web3 companies to register in Japan.
NFT and metaverse policies: Encouraging gaming companies to explore blockchain games and digital assets.
RWA and stablecoin regulatory framework: Striving to balance innovation and risk, and attract compliant capital inflows.
This time, WebX 2025 will feature not only industry leaders, but also heavyweight figures from Japanâs political sphere â such as the Minister of Digital Affairs and Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike â directly engaging in policy discussions. This means Japan is sending a clear message to the world:We not only welcome crypto projects to land here â we want to be the central hub for Web3 in Asia.
From the Agenda: The Key Crypto Tracks of 2025
1. Stablecoins: The Next Battle in the Global Payments Landscape
Stablecoins are the most practical and widely deployed crypto application in 2025. On WebXâs agenda, representatives from VISA, Circle, Coincheck, and others will discuss global stablecoin regulation and interoperability. This is not just a technical topic, but a competition for dominance over global payment networks.
Why It Matters:
The digitalization of the U.S. dollar: Stablecoins like USDC have already become the âbase currencyâ of cross-border payments and DeFi.
Opportunities in Asian markets: Southeast Asia, Japan, and South Korea have strong demand for cross-border settlements, and stablecoins can significantly reduce costs.
Regulatory trends: The U.S., EU, and Japan are all drafting stablecoin legal frameworks â whoever lands theirs first will have the advantage.
Observation tip: If youâre an investor, watch how stablecoins integrate with traditional finance, such as VISA using them for real-time settlement. If youâre a developer, think about how to achieve stablecoin interoperability in a multi-chain environment.
2. RWA Tokenization: Unlocking Trillions in Liquidity
The tokenization of real-world assets (RWA) is increasingly seen as the core driving force of the next crypto bull cycle. In WebXâs RWA sessions, participants include Toyota Blockchain Lab, the Tokyo FinTech Association, and major crypto investment figures like Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz.
Why RWA Is Hot:
The asset digitization wave: From government bonds and real estate to artwork, blockchain enables fractional ownership.
Liquidity boost: Assets that are illiquid in traditional markets can trade 24/7 on-chain.
Institutional adoption: RWA projects are more likely to get licenses and institutional investment because they are tied to the real economy.
Industry trends: In the short term, tokenized government bonds and real estate will lead the way; in the mid-term, private equity and commodity futures may follow; in the long term, the line between on-chain and off-chain assets will blur.
3. The Evolution of DeFi: From Speculation to Infrastructure
DeFi sparked a âliquidity mining frenzyâ in 2020â2021, but cooled down after hacks and high volatility. At this WebX, Uniswap founder Hayden Adams will present the latest developments in DeFi, and the Solana Foundation will discuss scalability and privacy issues.
Key Shifts:
Compliance trend: Future DeFi may integrate KYC (Know Your Customer) to meet institutional participation needs.
Multi-chain ecosystems: Expanding from single-chain Ethereum to collaborative models like Ethereum + Layer 2 + Solana.
Privacy protection: Zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs) enabling compliant transactions while preserving user privacy.
4. AI + Web3: An Intelligent, Decentralized Future
AI is the global tech buzzword this year, and its combination with Web3 could reshape decentralized application models. In WebXâs AI + Crypto sessions, Arm AIâs Director and several entrepreneurs will explore using blockchain to train, manage, and distribute AI models.
Where the Potential Lies:
Data ownership: Blockchain can provide provenance and ownership protection for AI training data.
Decentralized AI marketplaces: Models and computing power can be freely traded on-chain.
Autonomous economies: AI agents can use cryptocurrencies to autonomously trade and execute tasks.
5. Bitcoin Ecosystem: From âDigital Goldâ to a Multifaceted Platform
In recent years, the Bitcoin ecosystem has seen breakthroughs in the Lightning Network, Ordinals NFTs, and Layer 2s. In WebXâs Bitcoin-focused sessions, investors and enterprises will discuss its dual role as a store of value and a financial tool.
Trend Insights:
Store-of-value role solidifying: Growing macroeconomic uncertainty has strengthened Bitcoinâs safe-haven value.
Function diversification: Beyond âHODLing,â Bitcoin can now support decentralized applications (dApps) and NFTs.
Asian opportunities: Japan and South Korea have natural advantages in Bitcoin payments and trading infrastructure.
Opportunities and Challenges for Web3 in Asia
Asiaâs markets are characterized by dense populations, widespread mobile internet adoption, and frequent cross-border trade â all favorable conditions for Web3 adoption. However, challenges are equally significant:
Regulatory fragmentation: Different laws across countries raise compliance costs for cross-border projects.
Education and awareness gaps: Public understanding of crypto still often stays at the speculative level.
Talent competition: AI, blockchain, and cybersecurity experts are in fierce demand.
Japanâs edge lies in clear policies, ample funding, and strong tech foundations; its limitation is market size, so it must radiate influence across Asia.
Conclusion
WebX 2025 is more than just an industry gathering â itâs more like the âAsia stationâ declaration in the global crypto landscape. Stablecoins will reshape payment systems, RWA tokenization will open trillion-dollar markets, DeFi will evolve into infrastructure, AI + Web3 will give birth to new species, and the Bitcoin ecosystem will become more diversified.
Standing in the summer of 2025, we can feel Japanâs attempt to claim a long-term strategic high ground in the global Web3 competition.

 Green Hydrogen Projects in India
A multi-element transmission scheme anchored by a 765/400kV GIS hub and a loop-in of a 765kV double-circuit line is set to power one of the most ambitious Green Hydrogen Projects in India. The first phase targets evacuation of 3,000MW bulk renewable supply to feed industrial-scale green hydrogen and ammonia facilities along the Andhra Pradesh coast. The latest procurement amendment for this high-capacity interstate transmission package aligns compliance with the July 2024 Make in India order, replacing the 2020 sourcing mandate. This shift could narrow eligible OEM pools for GIS ICTs and STATCOM systems â a critical development for EPC contractors eyeing Green Hydrogen Projects in India. The scope covers a full 3Ă1500MVA ICT bank, a ±300MVAr STATCOM with mechanically switched capacitors, and future bay provisions â engineering-intensive components essential for maintaining dynamic stability under large industrial draws. The design also integrates a ~20km loop-in/loop-out of an existing 765kV corridor, injecting capacity into the new substation, with 240MVAr switchable line reactors to handle voltage and reactive power swings typical in Green Hydrogen Projects in India. In line with recent competitive trends, pre-qualified bidders will first submit prices in an initial round, after which the top half will proceed to an e-reverse auction. This two-stage process has previously triggered aggressive tariff undercutting in major transmission awards â a factor to watch for developers in the green energy and hydrogen space. By adopting the 2024 Make in India framework, the tender not only influences vendor eligibility but also reshapes pricing strategies for core electrical components. For stakeholders tracking Green Hydrogen Projects in India, this package offers a clear signal: transmission readiness will be as decisive as production capacity in determining project viability, Green Hydrogen, Hydrogen Economy, Renewable Energy, Hydrogen Projects, Green Hydrogen India, India Hydrogen Mission, Green Hydrogen Project in India, EnergylineIndia.

ISO 27001 Consultants in UAE: Your Trusted Guide to Information Security Excellence
In a world where data breaches, cyberattacks, and privacy violations are rising by the day, protecting sensitive information has become a non-negotiable priority for businesses of all sizes. Whether you're a startup in Dubai's vibrant tech scene or an established enterprise in Abu Dhabi, ISO 27001 consultants in UAE can be the game-changer your business needs.
What is ISO 27001 and Why Does It Matter?
ISO 27001 is an internationally recognized standard for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS). It provides a framework that helps organizations protect their data, manage security risks, and ensure that they are handling sensitive information in a secure, structured, and legally compliant manner.
The standard is not only about technologyâit encompasses people, processes, and policies, making it one of the most holistic approaches to information security.
Key Benefits of ISO 27001 Certification:
Builds trust with clients, partners, and regulators
Enhances legal and regulatory compliance
Reduces risk of data breaches and cyber threats
Improves operational efficiency
Provides a competitive edge in tenders and business deals
Why Businesses in the UAE are Turning to ISO 27001
The UAE is rapidly transforming into a digital-first economy. With booming sectors like fintech, healthcare, logistics, and e-commerce, the need to safeguard digital assets and customer information is more urgent than ever.
Regulatory bodies like the UAE Cybersecurity Council, Dubai Electronic Security Center (DESC), and sector-specific laws such as the DIFC Data Protection Law further emphasize the importance of robust information security frameworks. This makes ISO 27001 compliance not just a best practiceâbut in many cases, a business necessity.
The Role of ISO 27001 Consultants in UAE
Implementing ISO 27001 is not as simple as installing a firewall or setting strong passwords. It requires a deep understanding of risk management, information governance, technical security, compliance documentation, and employee training.
Thatâs where ISO 27001 consultants in UAE step in. These professionals guide your organization through every step of the ISO 27001 journeyâmaking the process smoother, faster, and more effective.
What ISO 27001 Consultants Typically Offer:
Initial Gap Analysis Consultants evaluate your current security posture to identify gaps between existing practices and ISO 27001 requirements.
Risk Assessment & Treatment Plan They help you identify risks to your information assets and formulate treatment strategies.
Policy & Documentation Support From creating policies to writing SOPs and asset registers, consultants provide tailored templates and advice.
Implementation Guidance They work closely with your team to align your processes with ISO 27001 requirements.
Internal Audit & Management Review Consultants conduct mock audits and guide management through performance reviews to ensure audit readiness.
Support for External Certification Audit They prepare your organization for certification by liaising with accredited certification bodies.
Post-Certification Maintenance ISO 27001 consultants often offer managed services to help maintain compliance in the long run.
What to Look for in ISO 27001 Consultants in UAE
With many providers offering compliance services, how do you choose the right ISO 27001 consultant for your business?
Here are some factors to consider:
1. Proven Experience
Check if the consultant or firm has successfully implemented ISO 27001 in organizations of similar size or industry. Case studies, client testimonials, and references go a long way.
2. Local Knowledge
Consultants with experience in UAE-specific data protection laws (like ADGM, DIFC, or NESA) offer a distinct advantage. They understand local compliance requirements alongside global standards.
3. Qualified Professionals
Ensure that the consultants are ISO 27001 Lead Implementers or Lead Auditors, certified by recognized bodies such as IRCA or PECB.
4. Hands-on Support
Some firms only provide documentation. Look for consultants who offer hands-on help during risk assessments, awareness sessions, and internal audits.
5. Cost-Effectiveness
Cheaper isn't always better, but your consultant should offer transparent pricing and value-for-money services. Be clear on whether youâre paying a flat fee or per milestone.
Leading ISO 27001 Consultants in UAE (Examples)
While there are several providers in the region, here are some reputed names to consider:
BSI Group Middle East â Known globally, they offer consultancy and training services for ISO standards.

The Digital Rupee Is Here: What Every Aspiring Investment Banker in India Should Know
India's financial system is at the edge of a historic leap. With the launch of the Digital Rupee, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has initiated a new chapter in the evolution of money. This isnât just about going cashlessâitâs about redefining how transactions happen, how assets are managed, and how capital moves through the economy.
For finance students and professionals, especially those in Indiaâs thriving southern metro, itâs a wake-up call. Whether youâre looking to enter the world of capital markets or work with major investment banks, understanding the impact of this shift is essential. If youâre preparing for this new landscape, an investment banking course in Bangalore could be your best step forward.
What Is the Digital Rupee, Really?
The Digital Rupee (eâč) is a form of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC)âa digital version of Indiaâs official currency issued by the RBI. Unlike cryptocurrencies, which are decentralized and unregulated, the Digital Rupee is backed by the central bank and carries legal tender status.
Itâs not a payment app, and itâs not just a wallet. It's a fundamental redesign of money itself, offering programmable capabilities, instant transfers, and traceable transactionsâwithout relying on traditional intermediaries.
Why Is the Digital Rupee a Big Deal for Investment Banking?
1. Speeding Up Capital Markets
In traditional markets, clearing and settlement take one or two business days. With the Digital Rupee, settlements can happen instantlyâeven across bordersâcutting costs and reducing counterparty risk.
2. Tokenized Assets and Programmable Payments
CBDCs like the Digital Rupee can support tokenized securities and automated compliance, allowing complex transactions to execute only when certain conditions are met. This is already being explored by Indian exchanges and clearing corporations.
3. Reshaping Treasury and Risk Functions
For investment banks, CBDC will impact liquidity management, collateral optimization, and intraday credit risk. Understanding these shifts will be crucial for anyone working in treasury desks or financial strategy roles.
In short: Digital currency will change the DNA of investment banking.
Why Bangalore Is the Ideal Launchpad
Bangalore is not just India's tech capitalâitâs becoming a fintech and financial innovation hub. With global banks, financial analytics startups, and blockchain companies setting up shop, the city is brimming with opportunity.
By enrolling in a top-rated investment banking course in Bangalore, you can tap into:
Real-world fintech exposure
Proximity to startup accelerators and banking innovation labs
Guest lectures and networking with industry leaders
Courses in Bangalore now increasingly cover digital currency frameworks, crypto regulations, CBDC impact, and blockchain for financeâskills that werenât relevant five years ago but are absolutely critical today.
What Will the Digital Rupee Mean for Consumers and Businesses?
Frictionless Payments:Â No more waiting for NEFT/RTGS windows or depending on UPI servers.
Financial Inclusion:Â A simple smartphone and internet access can now link someone to the national financial system.
Data Transparency:Â Transactions are traceable, enabling better fraud detection and compliance tracking.
Smart Contract Integration:Â Payments that execute automatically when terms are metâthink business contracts, insurance payouts, and supply chain finance.
These are not future visions. Pilot programs are already running in major cities across India. The financial professionals of the next decade will need to work at the intersection of traditional finance and programmable money.
Is It the Right Time to Upskill?
Absolutely. As digital currency adoption increases, the demand for finance professionals who understand both traditional markets and emerging digital tools will skyrocket.
If you're looking to step into this new era of finance, consider enrolling in an investment banking course in Bangalore that includes:
Capital markets and securities analysis
Treasury operations in a digital currency world
Fintech integration in banking
Live simulation projects with real market data
Institutes like the Boston Institute of Analytics are offering such blended courses in Bangalore, led by industry experts and designed for real-world careers.
Final Thoughts: CBDC Is Not Just a PolicyâItâs a Paradigm Shift
The Digital Rupee isnât just another fintech trend. Itâs a strategic infrastructure upgrade that will change how India manages, moves, and multiplies money.
For those entering or evolving within the financial sectorâespecially in cities like Bangalore where finance and tech convergeâunderstanding CBDC is no longer optional. Itâs essential.
If you want to thrive in the future of investment banking, itâs time to start thinking beyond spreadsheets and balance sheets. Start thinking in blocks, tokens, and programmable flows. And the best place to begin is by investing in the right education.
