I love Chesterton best when I dive into a piece of his writing and the words just dance. He's playing with sounds and words and sentences, so it's poetry and music and also just a guy saying whatever pops into his head, and it doesn't even matter if it makes sense because it's so much fun to read. There's pure joy in words and ideas and arguments that underlies everything, such an overflowing sense of humor, so you feel that it doesn't matter if you disagree because what he loves is the conversation. Pure delight. There's just nothing else like it in literature.

Glenbrook's Crown City Concept Art

Some concept art for Glenbrook's crown city! Translation notes and id under the cut. Here's a link as well to some of the Whiteholm Castle translations I did a while back, since a lot of these pages sort of bleed together subject-wise.

Translation notes:

I couldn't tell exactly what the label on the fish/meat stall was saying. It was definitely "______ shop", but I couldn't make out the characters well enough to say what the first word was. I went with "fish" mostly because of the context of the image beside it.

"Router" appears to be literally the phonemes "Ru Ta", which the dictionary I use translates as "router." However, it could also be interpreted as something more like "Luther" or "Luta". I'm not really sure what the intention here was. Maybe "router" is being used as a synonym for "hub"? Or "Luther" was an early name for the city? I left it as router but there's probably a better translation.

One thing that really annoys the hell out of me in Cities Skylines 2: bus roads are literally useless.

Ostensibly, they're for busses and city service vehicles only. But they're broken. They allow all traffic through them. Yet CO falsely considers this to be a feature, not a bug.

And people defend them with stupid comments like, "well, people break the law in real life. You're supposed to give them a better route."

No, people in real life aren't going to cause a traffic jam on a road they're barred from. You might get 1 or 2 people chancing it, not hundreds. Once you get 10, a cop or a camera will sort it out quickly.

And I don't want to troubleshoot that traffic. I'll get to it; removing service vehicles from traffic is the start of that troubleshooting, and intended to fix a specific issue before it becomes a problem. Especially since making mass transit move faster should also reduce that traffic anyway. I actively do not want to mess with the traffic in other ways if I'm trying to use a bus road; I really wish the game would stop being an asshole about it.

The road should do what it says it does. Let me get my busses and garbage trucks out of traffic. If a services-only road can't do that, it shouldn't exist in the game at all.

It's functionally no different from any other road, so why lie and say it does something else? There's no bigger frustration than when a game lies to you about its own function, because that never needs to happen.

I almost always lose interest in playing when I try to use bus roads and remember, "oh yeah, they're never planning to fix these."

baffling. apparently if you have too much joy you just end up with less sleep about it.
