You can't remember a time where Gally wasn't a part of your life.
Right from the start, you were immediately inseparable. In the complete chaos that was the first couple months in the Glade, the two of you had simply met and decided; we're sticking together.
"The water's drinkable. It's clean."
Gally's head whips around as he locates your voice.
You stand calmly, leaning back on a tree with a blade strapped to your hip.
"And why should I trust you?"
You step forward and cup your hands into the stream to take a sip. "See? Safe."
Gally doesn't move.
You sigh. "Look, man. It's a mess 'round here. If some of us don't start working together, we're all gonna die in this shithole."
He looks you up and down and apparently decides you're trustworthy, because he sticks his hand out to shake. "I'm Gally."
You take his hand. "Y/n."
Even after the group got together and started organising a proper system, with jobs and leaders and actual teamwork, you and Gally always stayed close.
Gally was your biggest supporter and protector, the one person you trusted more than anyone, the one person who understood you more than anyone. And it was the same for him with you.
Eventually, your close bond evolved into love.
You've kept your relationship mostly a secret, stealing kisses behind closed doors and holding hands under tables.
It's been perfect, until now.
You stand in front of the Maze doors, having just cut Teresa loose from where she was tied up.
"You're with them?" Gally's voice wavers as he stares at you in shock and hurt, and your heart breaks at his betrayed expression.
"I'm sorry," you say softly. You clench your hands as you pull up your resolve. "They have a way out," you explain desperately.
"It's over," says Thomas. "Just come with us."
Tears rise in your eyes as Gally shakes his head.
"Gally, please," you step forward, but Newt tugs you back.
"Don't," says Newt quietly.
"Good luck against the Grievers," Gally's tone is flat, eyes forced away from you.
"No," you whisper.
"Y/n," says Minho gently. "We have to go."
You cast one last look at Gally, the person you love, the person you thought you'd give anything for, and you turn to face the Maze.
⭒----⭒
You stand in shock as the video footage of WCKD and their actions fades out, the gunshot from Ava Paige's suicide still ringing in your mind.
"Is it over?" Chuck asks shakily.
"She said we were important," says Newt, frowning in confusion.
Thomas shakes his head. "Let's just get out of here."
You nod in agreement, turning towards the exit.
"No."
You freeze. "Gally?"
You take a step forward, about to run up to him, but Teresa grabs your arm. "Wait," she jerks her chin to where Gally's clutching a Griever stinger in his hand. "He's been Stung."
Your heart drops as you see him lift a gun.
"We can't leave," he says. You look closer at him under the flickering lights, and see that his eyes are darkened, glazed over.
"We did," says Thomas, hands reached out as he tries to calm Gally. "We're out, we're free."
"Gally, look at me," you implore.
"Careful, Y/n," warns Newt.
"Hey, it's us," you say to Gally. "Just put down the gun, and come with us. Please."
For a split second, you think you see a hint of recognition in his eyes, but it disappears in an instant.
"We'll never be free," says Gally, chest heaving. "We belong to the Maze."
You squeeze your eyes shut instinctively as he aims the gun, and your body jerks as the bullet slices through your shoulder.
"Y/n!"
Deep red blooms through your shirtsleeve but you ignore the pain and stumble to where Gally's been knocked over, a spear embedded in his chest.
The world blurs as everyone crowds around you, they concerned words melting together.
You fall to your knees beside Gally, turning him to face you, hands moving frantically around his chest in panic.
"Nonono, please no," tears roll down your face as you cup his cheek.
Suddenly, a commotion of noise cuts through the haze of your grief, and the air fills with yelling behind you.
People, strangers, dressed in dark armour grab at your friends, dragging them out.
As one of the men advances toward you, you lift Gally's hand to your lips, presses a kiss to his knuckles. "I'm sorry," you whisper.
You don't fight as the man takes you by the arm and yanks you over to where Frypan and the others are being piled into a helicopter, and you stare out the window as it takes off, flying you further and further away from Gally.
⭒----⭒
Moving on hurt; it hurt a damn lot.
Despite feeling the ache of Gally's loss every day, you've managed to keep yourself together and alive, which is pretty good, all things considered.
You got through the Scorch and found the Right Arm, but with Minho captured now you and the group are trying to get into the Last City.
You keep an eye on Brenda, making sure you don't lose sight of her as you weave through the sea of people crowded up at the walls of the Last City.
"We've got to go." Newt appears behind you, Thomas in tow.
"What's going on?" you ask.
As Newt points, you turn to see masked people coming straight towards you, from different directions.
"Shit," mutters Brenda.
"Quick, let's go," you start moving, but stop as you hear creaking metal.
You look up in horror to see WCKD weapons taking aim.
"Run, now!" you scream, shoving Frypan to move as the missiles start to fire.
You sprint after Thomas, ducking around a corner where a bunch of vans are parked.
"Oi!" you trip as you hear Newt's yell, and someone grabs you roughly while you're distracted.
"What the- Hey!" You're thrown into a van with Frypan and Jorge, hearing tires screech as the van takes off.
"Let us go!" you shout, knocking a guy in the throat.
As you move to swing at the next guy, a gun cocks, and you freeze.
"Just wait 'till we get there," growls the guy.
When the van stops, Jorge takes the advantage to attack the people guarding you.
"Where is she?" he yells, kicking a guy out through the van doors. "Where's Brenda?"
"Wait wait stop!" Brenda skids forward, jumping out of the other van.
More guards leap into the fight, all holding guns, and you and your friends back up with your hands raised.
"Alright everybody calm down! We're all on the same side here." The voice is distorted by the mask, and you frown in suspicion.
"What do you mean 'same side'," says Thomas, shoving a guard off him. "Who the hell are you?"
The guy pauses, thinking, then reaches up to the mask and yanks it off.
Your breath is immediately knocked out of you, and you feel ice flood your veins as you lay your eyes on the person you thought you'd never see again.
"Gally?" you rasp out.
You see the moment his calm shatters. Gally flinches at your voice, physically stumbles back as his eyes jump towards you, and he looks about as shocked as you are.
"Y-Y/n?"
You let out an unintelligible sob and run forward, jumping into his arms.
"What the- I thought you were dead," you say fervently.
"I thought I shot you," he replies, still in shock.
Gally lets out a disbelieving laugh, and you feel it in his chest. "God, I missed you." You reach up to cup his tearstained cheek, and pull him in for a kiss.
He lifts you as he kisses back, and you tighten your arms around his neck, feeling your feet lift of the ground.
"Alright, lovebirds. Oi Gally, what're we doin' with them?" calls one of the van drivers.
"I- Right, I just need to," Gally stutters towards you for a second, and you place a hand on his arm.
"Later - don't worry, we have time."
He gives you a fond smile at your understanding, looping an arm around your waist.
"Gally," groans Frypan. "Just explain, please."
"Alright, alright."
⭒----⭒
Thomas goes in to meet a guy named Lawrence, and comes out with a plan to scout the city first.
"Hey, can we have a minute before we go?" you ask Thomas.
"Yeah, of course," he replies.
Gally takes your hand and leads you into a quieter part of the building.
"I- I missed you so much," he tells you. "I never forgot you, not for a single day. I couldn't forget, thinking that I'd... that I'd killed you."
"Gally," you interrupt. "Look at me."
As he lifts his head, you pull down the collar of your shirt, all the way to the side to expose your shoulder and the scar from the bullet.
"See? Just a shoulder wound. I'm fine, and you..." you let out an incredulous huff. "I can't believe you're here. You're alive."
You reach out and brush your fingers lightly over his chest, feeling the steady rhythm of his heartbeat through his shirt. "I thought..."
"I'm okay too, see?" He covers your hand with his own. "There's a scar there too, but that's all they are. Just marks. We're both, we're both here."
"I never stopped loving you," you tell him.
Gally smiles, and it reminds you of the old days; he only really smiled at you.
"Me too."

``Careful What You Wish For``
Tumblr media
[TMR] The Maze Runner
Pairing; newt x reader
Summary; after having a heated argument with your family, you go to bed crying. When you wake up you find yourself in a metallic box.
Warnings: cussing, verbal abuse, family conflict, slight angst?
When talking 'like this' means that you're speaking in your mind.
Part One,
~~~
"Please.. don't start this." You had grown adjusted to the verbally abusive outbursts that your mother would throw at you. Normally, you would be more calm and collected. Today, however, you just couldn't handle it.
You had recently lost your best friend to a virus, along with breaking up with your toxic boyfriend. With everything wrong going on with your life at the moment, you weren't so surprised to find that you had also lost your job at the cafe.
Your brother and sister silently sat at the table, trying to eat their food and block out their mother's screams with the earphones they shared. You loved how close your siblings were, and quietly shooed them to their rooms with a reassuring smile as your mother began to target her verbal abuse at you again.
"—you're the reason your father died, you damned slut!"
That was when you lost it. In the heat of the moment, you started screaming back at her. God knows what you said, but you had surprisingly gotten that old woman to shut her trap. You stormed up the stairs and into your room, slamming the door behind you as your flopped onto the bed. Tears streamed down your face and you dug your claws into the cloth of your blanket.
"I wish I were in a fictional world—.. one where I would never have to see that abusive old hag again." You said into your pillow in-between sobs.
~~~
When you woke up, you found yourself with a huge headache. God, you felt like your head was gonna split in half right then and there!
With a pained groan, you lifted your hand to your head and sat up. Soon hearing the cries and squeals of a pig, your head shot up in confusion. That was when you realized that you weren't in your room. You were in a metallic box surrounded with barrels and what seemed to be supplies.
Maybe, just maybe you wouldn't have panicked so much—if it weren't for the ascending elevator-like box you were in, and irritating, yet scary squeals and bangs from the caged pig next to you. All of this was terrifying and confusing. Where were you? Why were you here? Were you kidnapped? Are your siblings safe? Why in the absolute fuck is there a pig here?
In the midst of your confusion and panic, you sat in the middle of the box with your hands cupped on your ears and hair draping over your tear-filled eyes. You flipped through your brain, replaying all of last nights events. They all seemed to circle back to the last words you said that night.
A small, "no way.." left your lips and you were ripped from your thoughts as a siren went off and your hands fell from your ears. All around you flashed a dark red, then a bright green.
Looking up, you saw the ceiling of the elevator open up, and a series of people crowd over the box you were in.
'No way—'

*NOT MY GIF*
Sometimes you were jealous of the people who blipped. They got the easy way out. It was the rest of you that had to live with the pain for five years. Five long years. **       "Y/N?"       You sat up from under the covers to see Cap's silhouette in the open door; you hadn't even heard him come in.       "Any news?" you whispered hoarsely. The sound of your own voice surprised you. You hadn't spoken much over the past few days.       Cap sighed. "No, not yet. I just wanted to come check on you. When was the last time you've eaten?"       You couldn't remember.       Taking your silence as an answer, he slowed walked to the side of your bed and sat beside you. Up close you noticed how much older he looked. His eyes weren't the same. They just looked sad, worn-down.       "We're going to find them Y/N. We will."       You couldn't tell if even he believed his own words.       Not knowing what to say, you just reached for his hand and held it. He looked at you and offered you a smile that looked an awful lot like a grimace, but it was enough to make you feel slightly better. It was this moment and many more like it that helped you through the next five years.  **
"Hey, Y/N, you still in there?"       You jolted from your thoughts to see your best friend's face hovering in front of your own.       "Yeah, sorry. What did you say?" you asked.       "I asked whether you wanted to watch Back to the Future or Harry Potter." Peter said, holding up the two DVD cases. You smiled lightly. Leave it to Peter to have the biggest collection of used DVDs in his possession.       "Back to the Future." you said, pulling your blanket around your shoulders and snuggling into the couch as he pushed the disk into the player. You could clearly remember the last time you'd watched this movie, though it felt like a lifetime ago. In fact, this was the movie you were watching when you and Peter first met.
**       Clearly you weren't one to pay close attention to your surroundings, well certainly not at that age, and the new voice from behind made you jump.       "Is that Back to the Future? I love that movie!"       You paused the movie and turned around to see a boy standing in the entrance of the living room. You recognized the boy as your dad's young recruit and you studied him, making him instantly uncomfortable under your gaze. The battle at the airport had taken place just days before and your dad came home with a broken Rhodey and a lot of broken promises about your family that was now ripped to shreds.  He looked a several years older than you, probably in high school, and you found you found yourself slightly shocked that this was the Spider-thing from YouTube.       Tired of your thoughts, you turned your back on the boy and played the movie. You heard him walk into the room and he sat on the opposite side of the couch. You could feel his timid gaze on you, and you tried to ignore him, but quickly grew annoyed of his stare.       "Do you need something?" you said bluntly; you dad had always said you were brusque, especially for a 11 year old.       The boy, again, seemed uncomfortable. "I just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Peter. Peter Parker."       "You're the Spider-thing my dad recruited, right?" you asked. Now that he was closer, you could see the details of his face. 'He's got nice eyes.' You thought to yourself.       "It's Spider-Man" he muttered, making you crack a small smile.       "You don't look like a man to me." you said, making him roll his eyes and grin. You both turned back to the movie and watched in a weirdly comfortable silence. **
That night was the unlikely beginning of a friendship that helped you through some hard years in your life. Peter was like an older brother to you; he would come over and watch classic movies with you, he'd help you with your homework, not that you needed much help, and you found yourself grown attached to him. At the time, although you never would have admitted to it, you had a growing crush on the young superhero, but he was almost five years older than you so you kept your feelings to yourself. Never would you have fathomed the events of the years to come that would ultimately change everything. **       You watched as the credits on the screen began to roll and stretched you legs along the length of the couch and yawned.       "It's late. Do you wanna stay the night here? May won't mind." Peter said copying your yawn.       "Nah, we both know that Rhodey will murder me if he found out that I spent the night at a boy's place." you said as you put your shoes on.       "Oh c'mon. He knows me. You're practically my little sister Y/N." Peter whined as you stood up off the couch. "Just stay and we can get breakfast tomorrow before school."       You smiled and rolled your eyes. "Aha! There's the real reason you want me to stay. It's not like you enjoy my company or anything right?" you joked.       "Bacon and egg breakfast burritos are so good though" Peter said, following you into his bedroom.       "Yeah whatever douche bag." you said, playfully punching him in the arm.       "You sure you don't want me to swing you back?" he said as you opened his window and stepped onto the fire escape.       "Nah, I'm good Spider-thing. I'll see you tomorrow." you said and you tapped your wrists together twice, clinking the bracelets that you wore on each arm. You felt the nano-tech stream from the bangles and cover your body, forming your suit.
You playfully saluted Peter and activated the thrusters that carried you away from Peter's building.       "It's Spider-Man." Peter grumbled, sliding his window shut, but he couldn't help the smile that was forming on his face. Through the window, he watched the light of your suit grow smaller and smaller in the sky and flopped on his bed.       Not even a minute had passed until he felt his phone buzz in his pocket.       Lil Stark: You miss me already, don't ya? ;)       Spider-Thing: You know, I don't       Lil Stark: Dude you can't be mean to me, I'm older than you.       Lil Stark: Shit Rhodey is coming I've gotta go       Lil Stark: Night Spidey       Peter turned off his phone and stared at the ceiling. It was still weird that you were now technically older than him. One day you were the little 13 year old who he would go visit at the compound, and then he came back to see you his age, grown up. He remembers seeing you, but not recognizing the little girl he once knew.
**       "Okay I've got this." Peter said, quickly becoming overwhelmed my the number of aliens attacking him. "I don't got this. Somebody help!" he screamed, clutching the gauntlet.       "Hey Queens, heads up." Cap said and threw miljoner in Peter's direction.            Relieved, Peter cast a web and hung on as it carried him away from his attackers. His relief was short lived as a blast from the sky cut his web and Peter felt himself falling, until he wasn't.       "I've got you Spider-thing. Good to see you again."       He looked up to see a teal and silver Iron Man suit carrying him through the air. You deactivated your helmet and, for a second, he couldn't breathe. It was you, but, not you. Your face had grown out of the chubby face he was used to and you had lost the prepubescent acne you once adorned. But your eyes were what shocked him the most. They looked older, harder. The mischievous glint that once shone through them was no longer there.       He could have stared at you for hours, but he was snapped back to reality when you dropped him with Valkyrie, flying back to help the others behind you.       Tearing his gaze from your figure, heading into battle, he focused himself on the war raging around him, yet, through everything, he couldn't shake the look in your eyes. The look that proved, beyond a doubt, that the Y/N he knew was gone. **       Another buzz from his phone brought Peter back to his bedroom.       Ned: Are you going to Flash's party tomorrow?       Peter: I don't know. Why do we even go to his parties?       Ned: To be social like regular human beings       Ned: Is Y/N going?       Peter wasn't sure, you hadn't really talked about it. You had just started to go to school again after what happened to Tony. He figured, though, you would probably go just to get out if the compound. You hardly spent time there anymore.       Peter: I don't know. Probably.       Ned: Maybe you can finally tell her that you're in love with her. ;)       Peter scoffed at his phone.       Peter: Dude shut up. I don't like her that way, she's like my little sister.       Ned: Yeah, that was before the blip and she became a badass.       Ned: Anyway, we can talk about it tomorrow.       Peter: Yeah whatever, see u tmr
He sat there in the silence of his room and, against his better judgement, thought about what Ned said.       Sure, you used to be younger than him and you used to look to him as an older brother, but that was, for you at least, five years ago. You grew up fast in the time that he was gone and now you could probably kick his ass. And, sure, you were pretty. Beautiful even. You were still much shorter than him, but you had grown into your body. He felt his face heat up thinking about your curves and toned body and your...       'This is so stupid' Peter thought, and pulled the covers over his body. He tried to forget you as he drifted off to sleep, but, for some reason, he fell asleep thinking of your eyes. Your big E/C eyes that, after some time and some rebuilt trust, showed him the softness that still remained within you. The softness he remembered. A softness that you reserved just for him.

Thunderstorms | Gally
Tumblr media
Pairing: Gally x Reader
Warnings/Includes: None, cuddling
Summary: You and Gally always bicker when you’re around each other, and some Gladers would even say that the two of you actually enjoy it. But one night, you’re too occupied by the raging storm outside to spare him any of your wit.
A/N: I used to have a blog where I would write for TMR and some other fandoms but I deleted it, under the impression I’d never want to read my old works again. So here I am recreating the one I remember the most. :)
Rain poured down in blinding sheets over the Glade. Luckily, everyone had managed to take cover somewhere, but most people were out of a place to sleep. You had booked it to the Homestead along with Minho, Gally, Wintson, and a few others. For as long as you had been living in The Glade, it had never rained like this. The rush of water left you uneasy, anxious for a reason you didn’t understand.
“Damn.” Minho comments, looking out of a window. “There’s going to be a lot of flooding.”
The group murmured in agreement, shuffling around without a sense of what to do with themselves.
“We should just go to sleep now. The rain doesn’t look like it’s going to be stopping anytime soon, and it’s already almost dark anyways.” Gally suggests, shrugging and crossing his arms.
You feel his eyes flicker over to you for a moment, and you know he’s expecting some sort of fight from you. But you’re too focused on the water outside to care about arguing with him. Besides, something inside of you was telling you to sleep now before the rain got worse.
Luckily there was enough beds for the small group of you that had taken shelter in the Homestead. You claim one that was farthest away from any of the windows, and to your surprise, Gally takes the one right next to you.
“Seriously?” You glare up at him, watching as he kicks off his shoes.
“Got a problem?” Gally smirks down at you, an obvious invitation to verbally spar with him.
A flash of light sparks through the Homestead and dies off again, which you recognize as lightning. The rain must be turning into a storm. Your chest tightens as you feel an awful sense of dread rise up to your throat.
“Just don’t bother me.” You sigh, clearly shutting down the conversation as you turn your back to him. Gally eyes for you a moment - you can always feel when he’s looking at you - before you hear him climbing into his bed as well.
You close your eyes, the room is dark enough for you to fall asleep, but your body doesn’t seem to have any intention to do so. You change positions and lay on your stomach, still keeping your face away from Gally. After a moment you grew uncomfortable, so you switched back to your previous position. Just as you curled up on your side, a sharp crack echoed through the air.
You jolted uncontrollably, your eyes flying open. This is what you’d been waiting for ever since the rain started. You knew it was only thunder, but you couldn’t help the way panic froze your body. Behind you, there was a slow rustle of sheets. You laid in bed frozen, unable to feel the blanket on top of you and unsure if you were even breathing. Across the room another Glader snored.
A deeper roll of thunder seemed to vibrate the Homestead, causing you to shrink in on yourself, before another loud crack jolted you again. Once the adrenaline from the sudden sound had run it’s course through your body, you felt it again. Those eyes.
You forced yourself to stay still, the last thing you wanted was Gally teasing you about something like this. The sheets behind you rustled again and you heard a foot softly touch the floor. The bed dipped behind you, and you squeezed your eyes shut, willing your body to relax and lean naturally with the movement as if you were asleep. The small bed shook a bit more as a body laid down next to you. Your own body was still frozen and now so was your brain. No way did Gally just lay down next to you. You could barely process the concept, but you knew it was him and nobody else.
A few seconds felt like hours as you both laid there in silence. His eyes were still on you. A soft lull of thunder encompassed The Glade, and you cursed the way your body tensed.
“I know you’re awake.” His voice was a soft murmur. You’d recognize it anywhere, you’d spent to many hour constantly bickering with it’s owner not to.
You couldn’t bring yourself to say anything, you wouldn’t know what to say if you could. After another moment of silence, an arm snaked around your waist, Gally’s large hand on your stomach as he pulled you away from the edge of the bed and back towards him. As much as you didn’t want to believe that your source of comfort could be from Gally, his familiarity was soothing.
There was another roar of thunder, but this time you only jumped slightly, Gally’s hold on you like an anchor. You buried as much of your face as you could in the pillow, embarrassed by the situation.
“It’s okay.” Gally comforted, resting his chin on the top of your head.
He stayed with you as the storm raged on, and eventually you relaxed in his hold. Every time thunder erupted from the sky, his arms would temporarily tighten around you. Your body was no longer frozen in fear, and you found yourself leaning into him. You heard the rain lighten up, no longer streaming down in sheets.
“Thank you.” You whisper, brushing his hand with yours as you drift off to sleep.

mid-week
to follow up with my last post, i’m less emotionally distressed. i hate having some kind of unresolved conflict while being cross country with matt. i automatically felt better once he landed in LA on tuesday. i haven’t seen him in person yet; our new thing is to take things more “chill” (or as much as they can be), have more alone time, and not jam pack our schedules.
the last time we came back to LA (and I came back first), matt went to the ER. this time around i felt on edge and worried about him given what happened last time. thank god we are learning healthier patterns, and thank god for gabbie his therapist that he really benefits from.
upcoming plans: very late movie night tonight at 10:45pm in pasadena with matt, his bro and his dad to watch flash to celebrate his brother’s birthday. my family dinner to celebrate my cousin’s elementary school grad and my other cousin’s birthday at my aunt’s house tmr, wedding on sunday, dimsum with work friends on juneteenth, and delayed father’s day celebration on tuesday.
the gods may have heard me, because a few good things happened since. matt had two interviews yesterday (one was spontaneous) and they seem like pretty good opportunities that are mostly in line with what he’s seeking. other places are also starting to respond to his inquiries.
also, my director finally informed me that the new position is now posted. i worked on my resume late tuesday and submitted my application yesterday. i still don’t know how this process is going to work as it seems they can’t explicitly say “i’ll hand you the job”. the JD seems like it’s written for me because it includes the work they have asked me to pick up in the past year. my director said the process depends on if there are other applicants. the range for this position is very wide: $67-155k. considering the other promotions i’ve seen recently in our department, i would be content to be bumped up to $80k.
my bro and SIL are facing different problems than matt and i - we are opposite ends of the spectrum. my dad is guiding my SIL into buying a donut shop business. her track record shows she’s not very hardworking and prefers not to do any hard labor (i.e. work in store). she’s more about being an owner and having others work in place of her. they also spent the earnings from previous years and do not have enough assets currently to secure the business loan, as my brother is also unemployed and there are no income streams. my dad will have to sign as a guarantor. today he had a long (one sided) convo with my bro explaining that they need to get their act together financially, that they can’t rely on parents for survival and that they both need to start working immediately. my parents are happy to babysit for them if both are working.
matt and i are very hardworking (matt moreso) in comparison, but we also absorb more stress/pressure and our mental health is suffering. financially, we are great. day-to-day peace and being able to “chill”, not so much. it did make me feel bad these years to have such a stark contrast, that our unit is working very hard to support ourselves and to create better opportunities for the future, and to compare our sacrifices to my bro & SIL who are mostly chilling and reliant on my parents for help financially and otherwise. i’m excited for the months to come, to see both of them being employed and for us to have more equilibrium.
