Holland does not deserve hate

I’m so tired of this disrespect towards Holland. Y’all passing judgement on him without even knowing his story. So let me walk you through why, if you don’t like him, you should just keep your mouth shut.

“He can’t sing/He has bad music.”

Even as a stan I’ll admit, it’s not the best in the industry. But here’s why you shouldn’t hate on him for that: He was literally denied access from companies/agencies because he was gay. He doesn’t receive support from most of the South Korean public. So he has to do everything by himself. Producing, writing, promoting. And he hasn’t had years of vocal training like most idols. I think what he’s put out so far is amazing for having no professional support. He puts his heart in his music and I think that’s what’s most important.

And if you don’t like it, that’s okay. Just say “I don’t like his music” or “his voice is not for me” because snide comments like “his music is shit” is actually really insensitive.

“He has no talent.”

He does actually. Holland’s a photographer and he directs/makes the concept for his music videos himself. Have you watched them? That shit aesthetic bro! It’s so beautiful. And his concept for Nar_C is fantastic. So many theories and layers. He really puts a lot of thought into the message he wants to convey through the song and music. The fact that he can touch so many people through this medium is no accident.

“People only stan him because he is gay.”

Personally, I think there’s nothing wrong with stanning someone because they’re LGBT. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to support someone like you, especially his music and music videos are meant to be relatable to LGBT people. Since South Korea is still very homophobic, LGBT artists need all the support they can get to increase visibility. There’s nothing wrong with supporting him to help LGBT representation in South Korea. It’s only wrong if you’re fetishistic about it. And true Holland stans hate those fujoshi stans.

Some of y’all fantasize about your faves fucking but won’t even give Holland the time of day when he’s actually gay. Sick.

If you dont think Holland has talent, at least recognize that he has COURAGE. Holland was bullied in middle school for being gay, to the point of contemplating suicide. Yet he still had to courage to come out to the world, to want to spread a message of hope for LGBT people. Being your true self when for your whole life society has been against you, that takes incredible drive. And he’s still struggling. He receives death threats from South Korean religious groups for what he’s doing and he still won’t back down. You cowards typing shit behind a screen don’t have his balls.

Holland has called out the hypocrisy of the industry, openly condemned racism, and made efforts to support trans people. If you make comments deriding Holland, I better not see you calling other idols “LGBT Kings/Queens” when they don’t even do HALF the shit Holland does. Some of y’all are so fake woke.

And I’m scared that if another idol tries to come out, y’all will start this whole “we don’t need Holland” mentality again. Y’all, it’s not a competition. Why do we need to tear down one LGBT idol in favor of another one? We can support both. More representation is always welcome! In fact, Holland has said some idols have thanked him privately for his bravery. He could have inspired future idols to come out and be proud of who they are. Don’t dismiss his impact.

You don’t have to stan him, but how hard is it to have even a basic level of respect for what he does? Holland has done nothing but spread a positive attitude and do his best to please his fans and this is what he gets? I’ve been stanning him since his debut and seen how hard he works so to see this undeserved hate literally makes my blood boil. Respect Holland or keep him out of your damn mouth.
