黄泉のツガイ | Yomi no Tsugai | Daemons of the Shadow Realm is an ongoing fantasy manga by Hiromu Arakawa that began in 2021, and a promotional poster and teaser were revealed for the upcoming anime adaptation, made by Studio Bones, who also handled one of her other series, Fullmetal Alchemist. The series is going to be directed by Sword of the Stranger director, Masahiro Ando.

A brief teaser trailer premiered alongside the announcement and poster at Anime Expo in California on July 5, 2025.

Gachiakuta EP1 things I FUCKING LOVED

• When Rudo escapes the trash facility the music lyrics are "a goat can't stay a sheep" Like damn if that isn't the most perfect thing for Rudo. He's not a sheep like the people of the sphere. he is, however, the G.O.A.T.

• When Rudo is talking about his hands it has the Geiger counter sound effect

• when he falls into the pit it looks like a hand is reaching for him (could it be 👀)

• how the apostles eyes look red when arresting him they're terrifying

• it HOLDS NO PUNCHES. YES

• JUST ALL OF THE MUSICAL CHOICES

• The TV-cut out effect when he falls into the pit

• THE DETAIL IN THE COLOURING

• the CGI on the trash beasts actually looks great from that tiny bit we see

• AND THEY SOUND SO FUCKING CRAZY TERRIFYING LIKE WHAT

• the scribbley stylistic when he falls also

• they actually put so much love and detail into the animation

I CANT WAIT TO SEE THE OPENING AND ENDING NEXT WEEK

Can't wait to see all my faves animated I love this series more than words can explain

Studio Bones, explain.

Why did you censor Dazai’s bare forearm? What are you afraid of? The power? The sheer, devastating allure? The fact that we’d all lose our minds over one (1) inch of exposed skin?? That forearm reveal in the manga had me foaming at the mouth, and clawing at the bars of my enclosure. Only for you to stomp on my dreams when the anime adaptation came along.

Cowards.

Manga Akutagawa: Elegant, sophisticated, beautiful

I wonder how Bones is going to adapt this. They're probably going to consider action packed scenes over emotional scenes, as always, and cut corners, but I still think it's going to be awesome. I'm mad at Bones and so is everyone else for a plethora of reasons, but at the bare minimum they can give us a decent season six

Just seeing sskk come to life with voices and background music and movement is enough for me, but please no fish eyes 😭

Kensho Ono and Yuuto Uemura are going to be so killer with their voice lines though, they always are (I love the emotion they put into their roles)

Also, on a side note, what if season six is the season of sskk and they adapt 55 Minutes into the beginning? 55 Minutes is the second longest bsd light novel so it'd probably be more than 4 episodes (unless Bones cuts like 25% of the story out 😭), but it deserves its spotlight by now. And also I think having an episode where Akutagawa says "It isn't hate" to Atsushi right before breaking into season six's main story with sskk, Amenogozen and Fyodor would just be so awesome
