tuesday lab rat activities ༄˖°.❦.ೃ࿔*:❧・.
more agar plates and microscopy this morning, pic 2 is klebsiella pneumoniae in 40x magnification and pic 3 is the same slide in 100x magnification !! it's hard to take pics through the eyepieces so they're not as clear as i'd like
worked my way through a dense thorax and abdomen lecture on the abdominopelvic wall today, all of my activity on forest has been just me watching and taking notes in 25 minute increments
my group project for thorax and abdomen is done and we just submitted it 3 days early !! this is the first group project i've done that has gone smoothly with everyone doing their part i'm glad i have more assignments with this group :3
i'm going to clean my room and prep my lunch for tomorrow before i go to bed, bye !!

the thing is I think he tries really valiantly to read the headlines and articles but my god it all turns to word soup at 7am. his favorite funnies are Family Circus. and Snoopy 🫶 frowning down at the paper with glasses on and coffee mug in hand looking so studious. so intellectual. and then he lets out a big chuckle that startles you and shakes his head, rustling the paper back into place with a snap- “babe you’ve got to read this after me, that dog is so silly 😌”
he clips the best ones for his girls and magnets them at toddler-height to the fridge so they can see them too 🥹
hey i think we should be allowed to sue him for damages

tuesday — i finally remembered to take pictures !! ೃ ✿𓈒ॱ⬭ᩙ
spent the entire day on campus yesterday
had my microbio lab in the morning, prepared more agar plates and got to prepare my own microscope slide
started two upcoming group projects that are due in the next few weeks
watched a thorax and abdomen lecture
didn't end up leaving campus until 7pm, so i went home, had some dinner, and watched an episode of orphan black
april is off to a great start, i hope it's also treating you well :3

tuesday: mid-april debrief !! ✧˖ °. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁˖ . ݁‧₊˚ ☾. ݁₊
this month has been very busy and i haven't been making time to post on here, so here's a lil catch up on what i've been up to over the past week !!
i've been studying for my thorax and abdomen midterm that i did yesterday afternoon. out of the 90 questions, i missed 4 because of the time constraints. usually in anatomy assessments, i blank way more than that so i'm very surprised. i'm proud of myself for not leaving my revision too late and staying on top of the content for this unit :3
made this delicious quinoa salad last week, i added crumbled feta for a little extra protein. i've been obsessed with these brown rice crackers too. i made a big batch to keep in the fridge and it was such a refreshing study snack
i interviewed for the first aid officer job on friday. i had to go to the city for it in the morning and i spent the rest of the day studying in a city library. pic 3 is yet another carpark sunset pic from when i left the train station in the evening
had a quick and easy microbio lab this morning, today i prepared a gram stain for e.coli (pic 4 is my slide in 100x magnification), and we did an experiment to find contaminants in apple juice. hopefully the results aren't too gross next lab...

friday – turning the day around ꒰ᐢ. .ᐢ꒱₊˚⊹
the plan was to spend the day doing online classes in the library but i slept in :/
finally got around to finalising some certification and submitted a job application to be a first aid officer :3
spent some time organising a farewell party for a coworker, tbh i'm not sure why i decided to do this considering i'm not that close with her lmao
ended up in the library to do some microbio work in the evening. i worked on an easy group poster assignment with one of the group members for about an hour
i also watched a few microbio lectures, i really appreciate my professor for only keeping the lectures an hour long. i can't deal with 2 hour lectures, i usually have to take a break halfway because i start losing focus in the second hour
i deleted every unnecessary app from my phone (the main culprits being instagram and youtube), hopefully it'll bring down my screentime.
things have been a bit difficult this week. i think i'm spreading myself a bit thin and not taking care of myself as well as i should be considering how busy uni is getting. here are some things i'm going to try out over the next few weeks to be a bit kinder to myself:
going back to my low dopamine morning routine to start my day on better footing (can do a separate post on this if anyone is interested)
sticking with taking my iron supplements consistently to help with fatigue
going grocery shopping over the weekend and doing some food prep for next week to help with food stress
giving myself a night off to rest every thursday for the rest of the semester to help with burn out
taking a break from social plans so i have some time for myself and my studies
stay off my damn phone (advice on this is always appreciated)
i'm working all weekend so you may hear from me again on monday. i hope this week has been kind to you and that this weekend is even kinder <3

monday – and we're back! ˚˖𓍢ִ໋🌷͙֒✧˚.
i went to my first lab of the semester, got to see a really cool transverse section of the thoracic cavity !! i had so much fun examining this specimen, torso anatomy is growing on me :3
dealt with some health stuff that i've been putting off for ages, it was scary at first but i ended up learning a lot (treating myself as a case study whenever there is something wrong with me medically). my friend came with me for moral support and i ended up studying at their house and having dinner with them <3
i finally got around to printing out all of my torso anatomy diagrams and have started updating my notebook, i'm hoping to be up to date with my notes by the end of this week
i prepped for my 2 labs coming up tomorrow, i'm excited to do more hands on work !!
i did my first assessment today (a human anatomy + physio quiz that's worth like 5% of my grade lol) and i got full marks yippee

friday !! ⊹₊。ꕤ˚₊⊹
back to back anatomy classes today! revised pleurae + lower respiratory tract in my torso anatomy class, attended a human anatomy lecture on histology, tissues + integumentary system (very dense), and attended a workshop on the vertebral column for torso anatomy. i'm tired (T-T)
did some diagram drawings for torso anatomy today, i love using clear sticky notes for tracing <3
tried going for a run when i got home but my calves are still hurting from my last run and it started raining so i stopped 10 minutes in (divine intervention maybe haha), i'll try again tomorrow
i just tried a new recipe for dinner and it turned out so good !! i added sugar snap peas to give it some crunch, i think next time i'm going to add some edamame and boiled eggs for some protein
i'm going to do more diagram drawings until i get sleepy bye !! i might post some of them if they turn out good hehe

i watched a lecture on the lungs + lower respiratory tract and quizzed myself on the content
i watched the first half of this week's cardio lecture (focused on the pericardium + heart today)
i've collated most of the torso anatomy diagrams from the past 3 weeks so i can print them out when i'm on campus tomorrow. diagram labelling is the most helpful way for me to study anatomy
my sister and i went to my friends' house for dinner
i'm going to be on campus all day tmr so i'm going to pack my bag and get to sleep !!

went to a group meeting after lab to work on our thorax and abdomen project. we might be able to submit our work a few days early, which is great since we have a midterm next week :(
went to my doctor's appointment in the afternoon
went grocery shopping and spent the rest of my day doing ingredient prep for some new recipes i'm going to try this week <3 i still have to go to costco at some point to get some pistachio cream, i've been telling my sister i'm going to make her dubai chocolate strawberries for weeks now ૮(˶ㅠ︿ㅠ)ა

thursday
had a study date with my sister, i helped her with her english assignment and updated my thorax + abdomen notes
friday
my human anatomy lecture got cancelled so i just attended my thorax + abdomen class and had a group meeting for our project on variations of coronary arteries !!
started on this quizlet set
hung out with my best friend for the rest of the day. i hadn't seen her in weeks and life is so much more colourful with her around <3

i haven't been posting as much this week because i'm starting to fall behind. i'm upset about it because i've been studying almost every day yet it still feels like i've been wasting time.
i think it's because i've been really focused on thorax + abdomen for the past few weeks but i never feel like i know enough to move onto the next subject or concept so everything else is falling to the wayside. i also tend to work at a much slower pace and it takes time for things to stick and i've always been insecure about that. i want to prioritise being up to date with microbiology and human anatomy next week.
i have assessments coming up in april so i need to use my time well next month. i want to set a study plan for april so i can get everything done without getting overwhelmed, i'll update you on how that goes.
longer entry today but i'm feeling very nervous. this is the point in the semester where i'd usually start avoiding my work because it'd get too overwhelming to deal with it and i really want to break that cycle. i know i can push through this discomfort and get my work done !!

tuesday lab rat update `⎚⩊⎚´ -✧
attended my first microbiology lab, practiced some aseptic technique and microscopy (didn't get to take any pictures smh). excited to see how my agar plates turn out next week :3
tried a different cafe on campus (right outside my lab) and had the yummiest salmon poke bowl for lunch
attended a dry lab for human anatomy, i felt kinda dejected being what felt like the only second-year student in the lab but i got through the work and got to leave a little early
putting my quizlet subscription to use with some thoracic wall revision for torso anatomy while i'm at the library with my sister.
i feel my focus drifting away so i think it's time to wrap up studying soon (i've been up since 7am and i've been looking forward to getting back into bed all day)
i have some teriyaki tofu marinating in the fridge which i'm excited to fry up for a rice bowl tonight

weekend catch up – technical difficulties please stand by ( ×>.<)
i worked on saturday morning, boring as always but at least it got me out of bed earlier than usual
i went straight to a friend's house after my shift to catch up with a high school friend i hadn't seen in ages, i had a lovely time with her
i was a bit frazzled on sunday, i went to a coworker's birthday party in the evening and figured i could study during the day. i ended up being stuck in Waiting Mode for most of the day which was really frustrating and overwhelming (idk if this happens to anyone else here when there are plans later in the day). i didn't end up getting anything done before the party but i had a nice evening catching up with some work friends who i don't get to work with anymore
i started my period last night so in hindsight, it was a good idea for me to have a break over the weekend. i don't want to beat myself up for not being able to be as productive as i intended. it's a new week with more opportunities to study <3
idk if this counts as a studyblr post but i wanted to be transparent about when things don't go the way you plan for them to because it happens. usually when my brain gets foggy like that, it's my body telling me i either need to rest or i need to talk to someone/be in community for a bit so i can feel like a person again lmao
i have a lot more clarity and feel more focused now and i'm excited to be in labs this week !!
