Y'know what bothers me most about Bionicle weaponry?
It's not the metallic beings covered in plate armour still wielding swords; I have no trouble believing in fantasy super-metals that can shear and punch through each other when shaped into a blade. Plus blades could still do significant damage to all the exposed organic tissue and vulnerable joints.
It's not any of the comically oversized weapons either; these characters are much stronger than humans, they can get away with proportionally implausible equipment.
Dual-purpose weapons, impractical designs, utterly bizarre contraptions, none of that really irks me at all. I'm here for it.
What bothers me is the near-complete lack of counterweights.
Seriously. None of these swords have pommels. None of these spears' butts are weighted (Or spiked! Huge loss!). It seems like the handles of most tools end somewhere in the user's palm. You're lucky to even see a shaft continuing beyond the hand, let alone properly finished. These things would be flying out of people's hands all the time, not to mention the balance issues.
Basically, Axonn is the only bitch I respect. Even if the shaft of that axe is so thin that a single swing would snap it like a twig, at least he understands the importance of a good weighted grip.
I can overlook most aesthetic quirks, even appreciate them, but this I say, is where I draw the line. This and all the holes in the shields, I mean honestly.
#bionicle#axonn#joke post#this is a minor nitpick of course#and i know the reason for most of it#but still#such poor craftsmanship cannot be allowed to stand!

Integrity and Excellence in Every Window Installation
In the realm of home improvement, few projects can transform a space as dramatically as window installation. Windows are not merely functional elements; they are the eyes of a home, allowing natural light to flood in, framing views of the outside world, and contributing to the overall aesthetic appeal. However, the importance of integrity and excellence in every window installation cannot be overstated. These two principles are foundational to ensuring that the installation process is not only successful but also sustainable and beneficial for homeowners in the long run.
The Importance of Integrity
Integrity in window installation begins with the selection of materials and extends through the entire installation process. It involves honesty, transparency, and a commitment to doing what is right, even when no one is watching. For homeowners, this means working with contractors who prioritize ethical practices, such as providing accurate estimates, using high-quality materials, and adhering to building codes and regulations.
Visit our Website: https://www.americanwindowscenter.com
When a contractor demonstrates integrity, they build trust with their clients. This trust is crucial, as window installation is a significant investment. Homeowners need to feel confident that the contractor will deliver on their promises, whether it’s regarding the timeline, the quality of the work, or the final cost. A contractor who practices integrity will communicate openly about potential challenges, provide realistic timelines, and ensure that the homeowner is informed every step of the way.
Moreover, integrity extends to the warranties and guarantees offered by the contractor. A reputable installer will stand behind their work, providing warranties that protect the homeowner’s investment. This commitment to accountability not only reassures the homeowner but also reflects the contractor’s confidence in their craftsmanship.
Pursuing Excellence
Excellence in window installation is about more than just the final product; it encompasses every aspect of the process. From the initial consultation to the final inspection, each step should be executed with precision and care. This commitment to excellence is evident in several key areas:
Quality of Materials: The choice of windows is critical. High-quality materials not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of a home but also improve energy efficiency and durability. An excellent installer will guide homeowners in selecting windows that meet their specific needs, considering factors such as climate, style, and budget.
Skilled Craftsmanship: The installation process itself requires a high level of skill and attention to detail. Poor installation can lead to a host of problems, including air leaks, water intrusion, and structural damage. An excellent installer will have the training and experience necessary to ensure that windows are installed correctly, providing a tight seal and optimal performance.
Attention to Detail: Excellence is often found in the details. From ensuring that windows are level and square to properly sealing and caulking, every aspect of the installation should be executed with care. This attention to detail not only enhances the appearance of the windows but also contributes to their longevity and functionality.
Post-Installation Support: A commitment to excellence doesn’t end once the installation is complete. A reputable contractor will offer post-installation support, addressing any concerns the homeowner may have and ensuring that the windows perform as expected. This ongoing relationship is a hallmark of a contractor who values excellence.
The Benefits of Integrity and Excellence
When integrity and excellence are prioritized in window installation, the benefits extend far beyond the immediate project. Homeowners can enjoy increased energy efficiency, improved comfort, and enhanced curb appeal. Additionally, high-quality windows can lead to lower energy bills and increased property value, making them a wise investment.
Furthermore, the positive experience of working with a contractor who embodies these principles can lead to long-term relationships. Homeowners are more likely to return to a contractor they trust for future projects and recommend them to friends and family. This word-of-mouth marketing is invaluable in the home improvement industry, where reputation is everything.
Conclusion
In conclusion, integrity and excellence are not just ideals; they are essential components of every successful window installation. Homeowners deserve to work with contractors who prioritize ethical practices, quality materials, and skilled craftsmanship. By choosing to uphold these principles, both contractors and homeowners can ensure that the installation process is smooth, the results are stunning, and the investment is protected for years to come. Ultimately, when integrity and excellence are at the forefront, every window installation becomes a testament to the beauty and functionality that well-crafted windows can bring to a home.

How to Tell If a Rolex Watch is Fake: A Comprehensive Guide
When it comes to luxury watches, Rolex stands at the pinnacle, renowned for its impeccable craftsmanship and timeless design. Unfortunately, this reputation has made Rolex a target for counterfeiters. If you’re considering purchasing a Rolex, it’s crucial to know how to tell if a Rolex watch is fake. In this guide, we’ll explore the key indicators that can help you differentiate between an authentic Rolex and a replica.
1. Check the Weight
One of the most immediate ways to assess the authenticity of a Rolex is by its weight. Genuine Rolex watches are crafted from high-quality materials, making them heavier than many fakes. If the watch feels light, it’s likely a counterfeit. Use a digital scale to compare the weight against the specifications listed on the Rolex website.
2. Examine the Craftsmanship
Rolex watches are known for their exceptional craftsmanship. Inspect the watch closely for any signs of poor workmanship, such as uneven edges, misaligned components, or visible seams. Authentic Rolex watches have a smooth finish and meticulous detailing. Look for the fine engravings on the case and bracelet, which should be precise and clear.
3. Look for the Serial and Model Numbers
Every Rolex watch has a unique serial and model number engraved between the lugs at the 6 o’clock and 12 o’clock positions. To check if these numbers match, you can refer to Rolex’s official records. If the numbers are missing, poorly engraved, or don’t match the model, it’s a red flag.
4. Inspect the Movement
Rolex watches are powered by high-quality movements. If you have access to the watch, observe the second hand. Authentic Rolex watches have a smooth sweeping motion due to the high-quality automatic movements. If the second hand ticks in a jerky manner, it’s likely a fake.
5. Check the Cyclops Lens
Rolex watches have a distinctive Cyclops lens over the date function, which magnifies the date by 2.5 times. A genuine Rolex will have a clear, crisp magnification. If the date appears flat or the magnification is weak, it’s a strong indication that the watch is counterfeit.
6. Look for the Rolex Crown Logo
The crown logo is a signature element of Rolex watches. On an authentic watch, the logo should be crisp and well-defined. Pay attention to the positioning and clarity of the logo on the dial and the winding crown. If the logo is missing, poorly printed, or appears fuzzy, it’s likely a fake.
7. Verify the Glidelock Clasp
Many Rolex models feature a Glidelock clasp, which allows for easy adjustment of the bracelet. An authentic Glidelock clasp will operate smoothly and feel sturdy. If the clasp feels flimsy or doesn’t adjust properly, it may be a counterfeit.
8. Research the Seller
When purchasing a Rolex, it’s essential to research the seller thoroughly. Look for reputable dealers and retailers, and check for reviews and testimonials. If you’re buying online, ensure the website is secure and has a good return policy. For quality replicas, check out Luxe Replica Watche, where you can find detailed descriptions and high-quality images of replica watches.
9. Ask for Documentation
Authentic Rolex watches come with documentation, including the warranty card, instruction manual, and service history. If the seller cannot provide these documents, it’s a significant warning sign. Always request the original box and papers when buying a Rolex to ensure its authenticity.
10. Compare Prices
Rolex watches retain their value, and genuine models rarely sell for significantly less than market price. If you encounter a Rolex priced well below its typical value, it’s likely too good to be true. Always be cautious of deals that seem unusually low.
Conclusion
In conclusion, while counterfeit Rolex watches can be convincing, knowing how to tell if a Rolex watch is fake can save you from making a costly mistake. Always prioritize quality, craftsmanship, and authenticity when purchasing luxury watches. For those interested in high-quality replicas, visit Luxe Replica Watche, where you can find exquisite replicas designed to mimic the elegance of authentic Rolex watches.

Can a Rolex Say 18K Gold Be a Replica? Understanding Authenticity in Luxury Watches
When it comes to luxury watches, Rolex stands at the pinnacle of prestige and craftsmanship. Owning a Rolex is not just about telling time; it’s a statement of success and sophistication. However, as the demand for these exquisite timepieces grows, so does the market for replicas. One common question that arises is, \"Can a Rolex that says 18K gold be a replica?\" In this article, we will explore the intricacies of Rolex authenticity, especially concerning the 18K gold designation, and how to discern a genuine piece from a replica.
Understanding the 18K Gold Marking
Rolex typically uses 18K gold in its watches, which is a high-quality gold alloy consisting of 75% gold and 25% other metals. This blend not only offers durability but also enhances the watch's overall aesthetic appeal. The presence of 18K gold is often stamped on the watch case, and this marking is a crucial indicator of authenticity. However, just because a watch has this marking does not guarantee it is genuine.
Signs of a Replica Rolex
While some replicas are getting increasingly sophisticated, several telltale signs can help you identify a fake Rolex:
Weight: Authentic Rolex watches are heavier than most replicas due to their use of high-quality materials. If the watch feels unusually light, it may be a replica.
Movement: Genuine Rolex watches use a specific movement that is smooth and consistent. A ticking sound or jerky movement is a red flag.
Engravings: Examine the engravings closely. Authentic Rolex watches have precise and clean engravings, while replicas often have poorly done markings.
Dial and Hands: The dial and hands on a genuine Rolex are impeccably crafted. Any misalignment or poor craftsmanship can indicate a replica.
Serial Number: Rolex watches have unique serial numbers that can be verified with Rolex’s records. If a watch claims to be genuine but lacks a serial number or has a number that cannot be verified, it’s likely a fake.
The Role of E-Commerce in the Replica Market
The rise of e-commerce has made it easier for consumers to access luxury watches, but it has also opened the floodgates for replica watches. Websites like Luxe Replica Watche offer a wide selection of replica watches, including those that claim to be made of 18K gold. While these replicas can be visually appealing and may even come with convincing markings, it’s essential to understand that they do not possess the same quality or value as genuine Rolex watches.
Why People Buy Replica Watches
There are several reasons why individuals may choose to buy replica watches:
Affordability: Genuine Rolex watches can cost thousands of dollars, making them inaccessible for many. Replicas offer a more affordable alternative, allowing consumers to enjoy a similar aesthetic.
Fashion Statement: Some people purchase replicas simply to make a fashion statement without the intention of misrepresenting themselves.
Gift Options: Replicas can serve as suitable gifts for occasions where the sender wants to give the impression of luxury without the associated costs.
The Importance of Buying Wisely
Before purchasing a Rolex or any luxury watch, it’s vital to do thorough research. If you are considering a watch that claims to be made of 18K gold, ask the seller for proof of authenticity, including documentation and a warranty. If you’re exploring options for replicas, consider reputable platforms like Luxe Replica Watche, which focus on providing quality replicas and transparency in their offerings.
Conclusion
In conclusion, while a Rolex that says 18K gold can indeed be a replica, understanding the nuances of Rolex's craftsmanship and authenticity is crucial. The luxury watch market is rife with counterfeits, and being an informed consumer is your best defense against falling prey to deception. Whether you choose to invest in a genuine Rolex or a replica from platforms like Luxe Replica Watche, always prioritize quality and authenticity in your purchasing decisions.

Debunking Misconceptions: Unveiling the Truth about Reproduction Watches, Rolex Clone for Sale
In the world of watch enthusiasts, the phrase "rolex clone for sale" often sparks a myriad of assumptions and misconceptions. As the popularity of reproduction watches grows, it becomes imperative to separate fact from fiction and dispel the myths that surround these meticulously crafted timepieces. Let's delve into the world of reproduction watches, addressing common misconceptions and uncovering the truth behind the allure of a "rolex clone for sale."
One prevalent misconception is that a "rolex clone for sale" is synonymous with poor quality or inferior craftsmanship. In reality, high-quality reproduction watches, often denoted as clones, have evolved to embody precision engineering and attention to detail. Skilled artisans meticulously replicate the iconic Rolex designs, ensuring that the finished product mirrors the elegance and sophistication of the genuine article. From movements to materials, these replicas adhere to stringent standards to provide collectors with a timepiece that stands as a testament to meticulous craftsmanship.
Another myth centers around the durability and longevity of reproduction watches. Skeptics may argue that these watches lack the resilience of genuine luxury timepieces. However, a well-crafted "rolex clone for sale" can withstand the test of time when properly maintained. Regular servicing, accurate assembly, and the use of high-quality materials contribute to the durability of these replicas, challenging the misconception that they are inherently less robust.
The notion that reproduction watches are only for those who cannot afford the real thing is a common misunderstanding. While affordability is undoubtedly a factor that attracts many collectors to a "rolex clone for sale," it doesn't diminish the inherent value or craftsmanship of these timepieces. Reproduction watches offer a unique entry point for enthusiasts who appreciate luxury designs without the premium price tag, making high-quality replicas an appealing option for a diverse range of collectors.
It's also essential to dispel the belief that reproduction watches lack authenticity. The term "clone" may suggest imitation, but it more accurately signifies a dedication to replicating the original design with precision. A well-crafted "rolex clone for sale" captures the spirit and essence of the genuine Rolex, offering collectors an authentic horological experience without the prohibitive cost.
In conclusion, the world of reproduction watches, encapsulated by the phrase "rolex clone for sale," is filled with misconceptions that often overshadow the truth about these high-quality replicas. Separating fact from fiction reveals that these timepieces are not only affordable but also crafted with precision, durability, and authenticity in mind. As the market for reproduction watches continues to thrive, understanding the truth about these timepieces allows collectors to make informed decisions and appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into creating a well-executed "rolex clone for sale.

The Armored Man
Title: Personal Eden (Ongoing)
Chapter 1: The Armored Man
Rating: Mature (17+)
Word Count: 2.0k
TW: Mentions of abuse (physical/verbal)
Flanked by suited guards at all four corners of the private billiards room, you stand nervously at the side of your master; an aging politician, paranoid about not only his perception in the public eye, but also self-preservation in the wake of his long winded history of gambling, trafficking, and despicable ideologies that have even the most corrupt audiences cannot accept. He frequents this particular casino, how fitting, and is notorious for his poor betting skills and overall ineptitude for making any sort of rational monetary agreement. You’ve witnessed his dumbness before, betting all of his credits away simply to serve his enormous ego.
You keep your head low, not allowing yourself even a glimpse at his newest client until it was permitted of you to do so, that was the rule. Instead, you focus on the sparkling silver platter in your hands, covered with an equally as spectacular dish cover, with elaborate embellishments and with enough brilliance for you to make out even the finest details in the reflections of the muraled ceiling. You catch your own reflection in it, your ruby lips coming to a fine line of both despondence and humiliation.
For as long as you’ve endured this job, it never fills you with the pride that your master promised you it would, nor what he shames you into believing.
You’d agreed to the work a few years ago (five… perhaps), where the pay was handsome, living conditions guaranteed to be provided, and with the promise of growth and experience to graduate you into higher ranked and paying jobs. However, you quickly learn this was not the case when standing in a line with many other girls who looked nearly exactly the same as you. But by then, you’d signed the contract, and you were picked out of that line of young women to serve the man you are not allowed to refer by name but simply master and sir. It’s an arrangement you deeply detest, but one you’ve been conditioned to follow out of fear for your own safety, and security.
“Mando!” Your master greets boisterously, “If you don’t mind me calling you that.”
“Ja’Aele Malsifer.” You hear a voice say in polite greeting, filtered by a modulator, the speaker likely wearing a helmet. But even over the digital graininess, their tone felt warm and pleasant. You do not hear them take the empty seat at the other side of the table, Malsifer is surely displeased by the blatant rejection of his gesture of performative kindness.
“Lighten up, will you? It’s just us friends here today. Y’don’t need to be so uptight.” Malsifer continues, popping open the top of a crystal whiskey bottle and serving himself and his guest a drink. There was still no movement to be heard from the guest he refers to as ‘Mando’.
“I don’t remember us ever being friends, Malsifer.” Mando responds, you hear him lean on the back of the upholstered chair, “What do you have for me, otherwise, I’m leaving.”
You understand this to be your cue to set the silver platter down between them at the table, before the sharp quip of Malsifer’s metal cane snaps at your shins and you nearly let the silver platter collapse onto the ground. Luckily you catch it.
“I didn’t tell you to put it down, did I?” He hisses through his teeth, returning his cane at the side of his seat before taking a drink of his whiskey, “Please, Mando, you haven’t touched your drink!”
“I didn’t ask for it.” Mando responds sharply, “I don’t have time, nor the patience. What do you have?”
Malsifer bitterly motions with his glass for you to set the platter down at the center of the table, removing the cover to unveil a handful of tracking fobs, some blinking more erratically than others. At this opportunity, you steal a glance upwards at his guest, Mando, to find him completely decorated in armor made of Beskar.
He looks completely and utterly enormous in his costume; broad shoulders, puffed chest, gnarly buttons and switches across his wrists, and a cape round his neck for what could only be dramatic effect. He is terrifying.
You have experienced your fair share of questionable clients that Malsifer hosted, some as physically repulsing as Hutts, and others more beautiful like Twi’leks, but this armored man (if he even was a man) is clearly a terrifying force, one that earned the Beskar to decorate his armor.
You back away to the side of your master, awaiting any further instruction, and perhaps the opportunity to finally lift your lowered gaze.
“I have a few… enemies, so to speak.” He begins, “Some unfriendly business partners for whom a bounty is worth less than what they owe me.”
“What’s your point?” The armored man asks, “You’d rather have them killed than for them to pay you back?”
You agree to his logic. At this point, you’ve known that Malsifer has exhausted his coffers extensively, and that it’s much easier to clear his debt by killing the ones who owe him and to upcharge anyone or anything that is now required to repay the enormous sums.
“I’m offering you payment for a service.” He replies simply.
“I’m a bounty hunter, not an assassin.” Mando replies just as tersely.
“Exactly!” Malsifer exclaims, “What made you think I won’t compensate you for your troubles?”
“It’s not just me who thinks so.” Mando responds.
Malsifer laughs, swirling his whiskey, “I’m well aware, which is why I’d rather invest in something well worth my money.”
At this point, your eyes perk up at the conversation, sensing that Malsifer’s patience is eating away with every passing moment. Mando does not seem willing to entertain his comments and sarcasm, however, it is how Malsifer determines who is his friend or foe. He is the classical example of someone who requires others to enable his behaviors rather than constructive criticism, no matter how kindly you approach the matter. You’ve felt it across your knees and shins even with the softest, most encouraging, tone of voice.
Mando clears his throat, reaching from some place behind him and keeping his hand there for a moment, “I’ve been given an offer much more expensive than yours…”
“I’ll double the pay!” Malsifer says boldly, his vision set on what Mando holds behind him.
Suddenly, clattering onto the table, is another tracking fob, blinking angrily and rapidly as though the target were right in front of it.
Mando clears his throat, “You.”
Malsifer’s eyes widen in surprise.
The room erupts into the deafening shrieks of red blaster fire as they fly into every corner of the room with deadly precision and accuracy and into Malsifer, before stopping at you.
Your skin erupts into fine little goosebumps, a chill sweeping over you as you barely finish inhaling a breath and drop the silver platter’s cover onto the carpeted ground. The yell you let escape is short lived when you realize that the blaster has taken aim at you, with Mando behind the trigger.
“You. Who are you?” He demands.
Your name quivers from your scared lips, tears blurring your vision altogether as you silently pray to the Maker in an effort to consolidate a good place for you in the afterlife.
“Will you help me take him back to my ship?” Mando asks, his blaster still trained onto you, grip slightly loosened. His voice took on a softer tone, more sympathetic.
Your eyes focus onto him. You didn’t notice his helmet before, too focused on the elaborateness of his other armor to see that the same skill and craftsmanship had been applied to his helmet as well. Sharp angles of the Beskar metal accentuate where sunken cheeks would be, and a thin and impenetrably black visor is the only point of reference for eyes. It looks too much like a storm trooper’s helmet, but judging from the medium of choice, an Imperial manufacturer couldn’t possibly invest so much time, effort, and credits into giving all hundreds and millions of stormtroopers a full set of armor made of Beskar.
“What are you?” You ask, voice shaking, already feeling your makeup melt off your face with every trickling tear.
Mando lowers his blaster irritably, “Will you help me take him back to my ship?”
You decide against any further questioning, knowing that soon, more security will arrive to investigate the situation. For you, it would surely be on sight.
Nodding, he hoists the lifeless body of your master onto his shoulder before slinging his arm over your shoulders to distribute the brunt of the weight more equally. Malsifer’s metal cane topples to the ground.
Mando kicks it up into his hand, briefly investigating it and removing the silver head piece, revealing the small and compact dagger that you’ve seen be used as a letter opener and an interrogation device.
He hands it off to you, “Might come in handy.” He says.
You’re physically repulsed to be holding the instrument of yours and other’s misery in your hands as a ‘handy’ tool to inflict yet even more suffering, as if it weren’t enough. Clearly, the armored man had little consideration for that.
The two of you clamor out another exit, one that led down an empty stairwell and out back into the gardens. The air smelled rich with incoming rainfall and the aromatic flowers that bloom during the later night hours. This would be an enjoyable setting, however, with a dead body slung over your shoulders, your body experienced all ranges of emotions at once, fifty times over.
The sky begins to open up as the two of you race across the mazes and patches of flowers and into the neighboring forest of trees whose dense canopies made it that much darker than the night and two moons could already afford. The leaves, however, did little to shield from the heavy rain that punished you further on the already unfortunate night. The light and flowy dresses that Malsifer had you wear did little to protect you against the cold downpour that transpires over the course of a few minutes. They stick to your arms, legs, and back as you race with the armored man through the forest, the sounds of shouting and alarms blaring behind you.
The armored man slows, stopping upon an open hull to a ship you could not see very well in the dark. He releases you from the weight of your dead master, dragging him up into the darkness of the hull.
“Go!” The armored man shouts at you insistently.
Your eyes dart behind you, the noise of the shouting, the alarms, and the rain overwhelming your already stressed senses. You try to quickly think of a way out of the forest, but you’re helpless without anything to protect you, feed you, and keep you safe against the elements of the landscape you’re not familiar with. The mobs will certainly find you amidst the shrubbery and trees, making you basically dead. You’d be framed for Malsifer’s death, and subsequently be put to death as punishment.
You look back up at the armored man, who continues to haul Malsifer’s body further into the abyss of his dark hull.
“I have no where to go!” You cry up into the hull, hoping that Mando could hear you, “If I stay I’ll be killed!”
The familiar armor returns into view, side stepping one side of his body out of the ship and the other remaining inside, also deliberating something.
“I don’t need anyone else on my ship.” He says dryly, his helmet looking down at you from his height.
You look back in the direction of the casino, the mobs sounding as if they’re closer.
“Please?!” You beg, “You don’t understand, I have no where to go! I have no family, no friends, no money! If they find me here they’ll blame the murder on me, and then they’ll kill me if they don’t do it now!”
The armored man looks into the distance, seeing the same dancing lights as you are of search animals and security officers scouring the area for yours and his scents.
“Fine.” He says, “Get in”.

OCtober Day 2 - Glass
Shirayuki considered himself an avid collector. Old and ancient things like books and records that possessed history and knowledge. Bonus points if they were said to be enchanted or cursed. Now those made it all the more interesting. But most of all, he valued beauty. Tonight, he found himself in a small antique shop with his eye on one thing in particular.
“..S-Sir?” Shirayuki heard a voice stutter.
He turned around to see the elderly shop owner, who gave him—or was attempting to give him—a smile.
He could feel the tense air radiating off of him and smiled back. Was this man scared of him?
He held back a chuckle. The jumpy ones were always amusing.
“You’ve been standing there for a while, is there something that interests you?”
“Why, yes.” Shirayuki beamed and gestured to the golden mirror and the other objects like it. “This is a lovely collection you have here. Judging by the craftsmanship, it’s clear that you consider quality.”
The shop owner stared at him, almost looking stunned. He seemed to calm down a little. “Ah, why thank you! Actually, the mirror you’ve been looking at is one of the latest additions. There’s an interesting tale behind this one.”
“Is that so?”
“Yes! The craftsman told me that before it had been repaired, the mirror was said to have been owned by a priestess who used it to reveal evil.”
Shirayuki gave a laugh. “Reveal evil? Does it work?”
“I cannot say. But it was for that reason that the craftsman gave it away to me.”
“Oh?”
“He told me that he’d seen strange shadows lurking within the mirror. Apparitions that would stare at him and whisper things; all while tapping at the glass.”
Shirayuki chuckled. So he was right to come here.
He walked closer to the mirror and traced his fingers across the gold that laced its once-shattered parts. He marveled at the cracks and shards cleaving into his reflection.
How pretty.
“Kintsugi.” Shirayuki spoke. “The art of mending broken things together with gold. The philosophy behind it is to embrace and celebrate all of one’s imperfections.”
The shop owner only nodded. Then his gaze had wandered elsewhere and he blinked. Then he seemed to have frozen.
Shirayuki only continued to smile.
“I suppose that there are many who resonate with such an idea. For to be repaired after being broken is beautiful…”
He watched as bits of his reflection clawed its way back at him. Shadows swirled about and peeked through different fragments. Somehow in some parts of the mirror, his kimono was covered in dark red stains. Shadows enveloped him as he stared back with an eye glowing and empty.
Within, he swore he could hear familiar voices screaming for help and cursing at him. Different faces fading in and out of view; men and women, young and old. All white, torn, and ridden with agony.
What a truly peculiar mirror, daring to show all pieces of him. It only made him love it all the more.
“Philosophies like this have grown my liking for all broken things.”
Shirayuki turned to look at the shop owner again, who seemed to be shivering.
“Tell me, Tanaka.” He watched as the other man flinched in horror.
Ah, did he say someone else’s name without them telling him again? He really needed to watch himself better.
“How would you look like if you were broken?”
The man did not answer. Instead, he dropped to his knees and started mumbling a Shinto prayer under his breath.
“Oh dear! Whatever’s the matter?” Shirayuki knelt down to inspect the shop owner. He looked pale.
“You poor thing. You look as if you’re about to have a heart attack. Did you perhaps overwork yourself today? Or… did you see something you didn’t want to?”
“P-please! I have family!”
“Now, now, you look at me as if I’m holding a knife to your throat. Fear not, I’m only here for the mirror.”
“Then take it! Take it and please leave!”
Shirayuki put a hand to his heart. “You would allow me to take this for free? My, that would be too much! Not to mention, a business decision that I wouldn’t recommend on your part.”
But it was too late. The shop owner seemed to have keeled over. Shirayuki still sensed some life in the man.
The poor thing probably fainted.
A shame.
—
By the time Tanaka came to, he was lying on the floor of his shop, with morning light seeping through the windows. The scary gentleman and mirror were gone.
On his counter lay a handsome sum of yen and a note saying that they would come by again soon.
He immediately thought of retiring.
——
AKA local shop owner is scared senseless by trolly, curious kitsune man.
And that’s day 2! Forgive me for being slow, as I haven’t been feeling well lately. ^^’ I will do my best to catch up soon!

Build: Muscular and toned but wide and sturdy, good bone structure
Auri Features: Dark Blue/Purple scales over majority of face and body including jaw line and nose bridge. Six visible horns, two pronounced which have metallic inserts on their tips and dagger-like shape while the remaining four rise from his hairline and scalp
Scars: Reference Here
Tattoos/Marks: None
At First Glance (+5)
A Warrior: Spotting him in a crowd is rarely hard and he is typically armed, though rarely fully armored. It's in the way he holds himself, the rhythm he moves and the gait which threatens to push those who step in his path over. Even without his rough appearance or scars, or even the callouses on his hands, it would be hard to mistake him for anything but what he is with his body language and the myriad of battle scars covering him. He may smile and laugh, be friendly and around his mate he can even be seen as a gentle man, but there is always a sharpness to his eye and readiness for violence that reads in him clearly enough to put others off.
Odd-Eye: While his eye-patches admirably hide it, Subetei's left eye is utterly decimated and even the surrounding skin shows tell-tale burns, scar edges and fissures of skin that have healed and marred over. It is impossible to not notice in good lighting and seeing it is unsettling to say the least. Underneath it is even worse; The eye has been split and sealed, re-healed and fused to the skin in some places. The milky white orb is bloodshot in places and has flecks of blood mixed in, with no real pupil, and some parts of the bone stick out near the edges of the eye. It is a gruesome sight and it is why he rarely removes his eye patch.
Self-Made: While he does wear some items professionally made or fitted, the vast majority of what Subetei wears is hand-stitched and crafted by him for his own purposes and as such it is rare to find him not wearing something made of hide, leather or decked in fur. While not ugly or poor quality there is a definite simplicity in his designs that shows. Hardly flashy or elegant, there is also an element of Xaelan tribalism that shows as well; Fang necklaces, hanging tassels and colored patterns, it would be hard to ignore such a thing and Subetei wears it proudly.
Heavy Metal: Contrasting to his own creations, Subetei is rarely far from well crafted and maintained arms to the point that even in his most casual moments he will have a hand or cutting axe available. In private this isn't so much a problem, but in public he is usually dragging around a greataxe of proportional size to himself, and this can mean that one is suddenly faced with an over seven fulms tall Xaela with an axe larger than most hyurans. A startling sight to be sure.
Talk Like A Pirate: Despit having been born in Othard, Subetei has spent most of his life and living in Limsa Lominsa, to the extent that he learned the common speech of Eorzea -from- Limsan natives. He speaks with a thick accent of Limsan that on it's own would be rough to discern but he also had the rich, deep and gravel-like voice of a Xaela with their unique speech patterns and inflections. This makes his natural speech difficult to pull apart and understand, though he can control it to some degrees. Speaking more slowly and clearly often allows him to at least be understood with minimal thought.

Social Level: Easily coaxed into social behavior. Open and brash. Jovial and quick to friendship. Hard to anger or offend. Comfortable in small groups or large crowds equally.
Optimistic View(s): There is no shame in the work of living, no sin in the act of surviving.
Pessimistic View(s): No one gets out alive. Life will take all it gives in time.
One Positive Personality Trait: Subetei is the sort of person who attracts others with a boisterous personality and a hearty laugh, no matter the circumstances. Even in the midst of a fight he can usually find time to crack a smile or a joke and in social settings it is rare he lets someone be a 'wallflower' around him, opening his table and tab to others with little reservation.
One Negative Personality Trait: Subetei is incredibly physical and has no consideration for his own monstrous strength around others. From a simple hand-shake to sparring, he does not hold back in any interaction with others and while this is normally not an issue, it makes it hard to be around him if one is frail or excitable.
·One Personality Warning: Abuse of his trust is tantamount to asking to die when it comes to Subetei. If he considers you a close friend, which takes some work, breaking that bond is traumatic to him in a very personal way and if you're lucky, you'll simply find yourself on the bad end of an ass whooping. If what you'e done is severe enough, he has no qualms about seeking his own revenge and retribution no matter what laws or barriers would stand between him and you.
Random Quirk: Digs his claws into furniture when excited.
Hobbies: Wandering and Riding, Sparring and Training, Physical Labors, Brewing Mead and Alcohol
Addictions: Work, Neyuki, Fighting and Violence

TRIVIA ––
We seek tomorrow’s sun, It’s all for the taking here
Only the valiant survive, Live for better years
Subetei's mixed upbringing has given him a tenuous faith in the Twelve, or the Xaelan deities, and instead he has developed a slightly paganistic viewpoint of the world in the form of natural phenomena. The Salt and Storm, as he calls this viewpoint, is a simple belief that while life is harsh and can be demanding, it's pains and undertakings are rewarding in experience if nothing else. It also holds a certain karmic edge to it as well. He does not really call this a 'religion' or believe others should live like this.
His wounded eye is extraordinarily light sensitive despite being functionally blind and when exposed to sunlight or other equally bright sources it's akin to having the wound reopened with blades of salt and fire. It causes him incredible pain and exposure for a long period can lead to blacking out or migraines so intense they last days. His eyepatch is as much a safety measure as it is a decoration for him and as such he wears extremely well-made patches. Metal wires are used to reinforce the straps and the leather is studded if not inset with metal sheets. He also uses metal ringlets on his horns to hold the patches in place. If he expects particularly pitched or harsh conditions he will often use salves or pastes to hold the patch in place.
With his inherent reliance on instincts and natural tendency to disassociate from morality or consciousness during battle, Subetei has developed a dangerous habit of going into berserker trances during battle that put his already high reflexes into overdrive and his natural senses become sharp enough that he has, for instance, picked up the sound of an arrow approaching and smashed it aside before it can connect with him. While useful and extremely dangerous to others, it presents a unique danger to himself as well, as his already uncomfortably high pain tolerance is also increased and he has been known to inflict damage on himself to continue to fight, even at the risk of health or death.
Subetei has an unstable aether that has never been trained, developed or explored in any respect. He cannot use aetheryte, cast spells or channel it in any meaningful way willingly or consciously and those who try and scry his aetheric strength are faced with a soupy, chaotic mess that does not spell much out. Yet he has been known to perform feats that can only be described as 'inhuman' when he fights unconsciously and in his trances, leading some to conclude that Subetei's aether actively permeates him at all times and empowers him, allowing him to fight at above-optimal strength and focus even when he should be gravely wounded. This is not formally confirmed, but it would explain why he also tends to be quick to recover from wounds and injuries as well as his distaste for sitting still and being idle.
While he and Neyuki share an amazing chemistry that cannot be called anything but 'love', Subetei has historically been awkward and uncomfortable around women and intimacy in the past. During his time before Neyuki he had next to no partners and no long-term relationships due to his emotional issues at his younger age and later on his insistence on isolation. He also has certain physical irregularities that make him wary of sex. When approached sexually or flirtatiously he often comes off as cold and aloof, if not outright dismissive, as he has frankly no fucking idea how to react to it in most circumstances.
While Subetei does a good job of containing it, there is a part of him that thrives in the loosening of his reins and control. This primarily comes to the front during battle when he looses himself, but it also tends to show in other moments where restraint is pressed; This includes his time with Neyuki and they are infamous in certain taverns and inns for the destruction of property that has occurred when Subetei truly lets go of himself, and more than once it has been suggested that Subetei's habit of carrying Neyuki everywhere is a symptom of this.
Subetei can pilot a boat and maintain a ship well enough that he is often comfortable going out by himself on sailboats over moderate distances and he loves the ocean, but a certain thrill-seeking part of him loves the sky and airships. During his time in a mercenary company with such vessels he frequently took out the ship he was assigned and used it for all sorts of activities, both on and off the job.
It cannot be understated the kind of outdoorsman Subetei is, to the extent that he can and has survived over a month in the wilderness with only basic supplies to begin with. During his time as a hunter and mercenary he has learned many survival and wilderness methods that he has also become a scarily accurate tracker and wayfinder, though he often does not use those skills in anything but his actual work. He has discovered some secreted places in his times in the wilderness and though he has recorded them quietly, he does not intend to explore or give away their location. Some things are intriguing to simply know.
Subetei's eye was lost during an extremely controversial moment in Gridanian history, where the Wood Wailers and Twin Adders as well as mercenaries hired by an unconfirmed source, descended on a Keeper of the Moon encampment accused of poaching and harboring criminals to the Shroud. Subetei balked when the order was given to drive the children and non-combatants out of the encampment with fire, an act that would have cost lives, and turned on his employers. Though he survived he harbors a lasting grudge against the Elementals, for allowing such an act to be considered free of sin yet hunting to survive be an act worthy of reprisal, and he further disdains Gridania for their involvement in the action and subsequent attempts to play the act off as the work of factions impersonating Wailers and Adders.
One might be forgiven for assuming Subetei does not speak the Auri dialect anymore after his time in the rest of the world but this is extremely untrue. While he has difficulty reading Auri script nowadays he can still speak fluent and distinct Auri with an old Xaelan syntax and inflection that marks his time away from the Steppe. He chooses not to converse in it often, even among other Xaela, to preserve the air of distance he has from the Xaelan culture and to keep an ear on those around him if they do speak it. He is also fluent in sign and non-verbal gestures as Neyuki is mute, allowing him to communicate with Qester rather comfortably at times.
Subetei is a Noykin by blood and nothing else. He does not use his name as a surname and instead as a title, as if it is only a formal thing, and he does not recognize any other Noykin as his brothers or sisters in any way. Though he still retains many of their skills and love of animals he is long removed form his family and their culture. To introduce oneself to him as a fellow Noykin is to receive the same greeting as anyone else, but he has no patience or acceptance for those who would use the name to garner clout with him.

Today’s reading from the ancient book of Proverbs and book of Psalms
for September 1 of 2021 with Proverbs 1 and Psalm 1, accompanied by Psalm 74 for the 74th day of Astronomical Summer (simultaneously the first day of meteorological Autumn) and Psalm 94 for day 244 of the year (now with the consummate book of 150 Psalms in its 2nd revolution this year)
[Proverbs 1]
I, Solomon, David’s son and Israel’s king, pass on to you these proverbs—a treasury of wisdom—
So that you would recognize wisdom and value discipline;
that you would understand insightful teaching
And receive wise guidance to live a disciplined life;
that you would seek justice and have the ability to choose what is right and fair.
These proverbs teach the naive how to become clever;
they instruct the young in how to grow in knowledge and live with discretion.
The wise will pay attention to these words and will grow in learning,
and the discerning will receive divine guidance,
And they will be able to interpret the meaning of a proverb and a puzzle,
the twists and turns in the words of the wise and their riddles.
Let us begin. The worship of the Eternal One, the one True God, is the first step toward knowledge.
Fools, however, do not fear God and cannot stand wisdom or guidance.
So, my son, pay attention to your father’s guidance,
and do not ignore what your mother taught you—
Wear their wisdom as a badge of honor and maturity,
as fine jewelry around your neck.
My son, should your less honorable peers pressure you to do what is wrong,
you should be strong enough not to go along.
If they should say,
Evildoers: Come on! Everyone, hide and let’s wait to see whom we can beat to a pulp.
We’re going to jump some unsuspecting chumps for no reason at all.
We’ll have our way with them, and when we’re through, there will be nothing left,
as if their bodies were swallowed whole by the grave’s dark pit.
We’ll take whatever we want—all their wealth and their fancy clothes—
and when we’re through, we’ll have piles of their treasure for our own.
You have to join us; forget about God.
We’re going to rake in the goods, and we’ll share all we take!
My son, do not join them;
keep well away from their violent, destructive paths.
For they run right away, every time, to do wrong,
and they are thirsty for blood.
You see, it makes no sense to bait the net and set the trap
while the bird is watching,
But these hiding in the shadows and waiting to spill innocent blood
are really just hastening their own destruction!
By giving in to their sinful desires,
they set themselves up to be ambushed.
This is what happens to everyone who tries to profit by violence;
violence will eventually rob them of their very lives.
There’s another voice in town.
It belongs to Lady Wisdom, who calls out in the street.
She cries out in the town square,
At the city gates, in the noisy city streets,
you can hear her speaking over the racket.
Lady Wisdom: You simple, naive people, how long will you love your feeble ways?
You simpletons, how long will you enjoy making fun of what you don’t understand?
You fools, how long will you hate learning what truly matters?
Turn to me and receive my gentle correction;
Watch and I will pour out my spirit on you;
I will share with you my wise words in order to redirect your lives.
You hear, but you have refused to answer my call.
My hands reached out, but no one noticed.
All my advice, all my correction, all have been neglected—
you wanted nothing of them.
So I will be the laughter you hear when misfortune comes, and it will come.
I will be the mocking sound when panic grips you—
When panic comes like a stormy blast,
when misfortune sweeps in like a whirlwind,
when sorrow and anguish weigh you down.
This is when they will call on me, but I will not respond;
they will be frantic to find me, but they won’t be able.
Because they despised knowledge of my ways,
and they also refused to respect and honor the Eternal,
Because they rejected my advice
and turned down my correction,
They will surely get what’s coming to them:
they’ll be forced to eat the fruit of their wicked ways;
they’ll gorge themselves on the consequences of their choices.
You see, it’s turning away from me that brings death to the simple,
and it’s self-satisfaction that destroys the fools.
But those who listen to me now will live under divine protection;
they can rest knowing they are out of harm’s way.
The Book of Proverbs, Chapter 1 (The Voice)
[Book 1]
The Genesis Psalms
Psalms of man and creation
The Tree of Life
[Psalm 1]
God’s blessings follow you and await you at every turn:
when you don’t follow the advice of those who delight in wicked schemes,
When you avoid sin’s highway,
when judgment and sarcasm beckon you, but you refuse.
For you, the Eternal’s Word is your happiness.
It is your focus—from dusk to dawn.
You are like a tree,
planted by flowing, cool streams of water that never run dry.
Your fruit ripens in its time;
your leaves never fade or curl in the summer sun.
No matter what you do, you prosper.
For those who focus on sin, the story is different.
They are like the fallen husk of wheat, tossed by an open wind, left deserted and alone.
In the end, the wicked will fall in judgment;
the guilty will be separated from the innocent.
Their road suddenly will end in death,
yet the journey of the righteous has been charted by the Eternal.
The Book of Psalms, Poem 1 (The Voice)
[Psalm 74]
We Need You Now
Asaph’s poem of instruction
Are you really going to leave us, God?
Would you turn your back on us, rejecting your people?
We are yours, your very own.
Will your anger smolder against us forever?
Don’t forget that we are your beloved ones.
Wrap us back into your heart again, for you chose us.
You brought us out of our slavery and bondage
and made us your favored ones, your Zion-people,
your home on earth.
Turn your steps toward this devastation.
Come running to bring your restoring grace to these ruins,
to what the enemy has done to devastate your Holy Place.
They have come into the very midst of your dwelling place,
roaring like beasts, setting up their banners to flaunt their conquest.
Now everything is in shambles! They’ve totally destroyed it.
Like a forest chopped down to the ground,
there’s nothing left.
All of the beauty of the craftsmanship
of the inner place has been ruined,
smashed, broken, and shattered.
They’ve burned it all to the ground.
They’ve violated your sanctuary,
the very dwelling place of your glory and your name.
They boasted, “Let’s completely crush them!
Let’s wipe out every trace of this God.
Let’s burn up every sacred place where they worship this God.”
We don’t see any miraculous signs anymore.
There’s no longer a prophet among us
who can tell us how long this devastation will continue.
God, how much longer will you let this go on
and allow these barbarians to blaspheme your name?
Will you stand back and watch them get away with this forever?
Why don’t you do something?
You have the power to break in,
so why would you hide your great power from us?
Don’t hold back! Unleash your might and give them a final blow.
You have always been, and always will be, my King.
You are the mighty conqueror, working wonders all over the world.
It was you who split the sea in two by your glorious strength.
You smashed the power of Tannin, the sea monster.
You crushed the might of Leviathan, the great dragon,
then you took the crumbs and fed them to the sharks.
With your glory you opened up springs and fountains,
then you spoke, and the ever-flowing springs of Jordan
dried up so we could cross over.
You own the day and the night.
Sunlight and starlight call you Creator.
The four corners of the earth were formed by your hands,
and every changing season owes its beauty to you.
O Yahweh, don’t ever forget how these arrogant enemies,
like fools, have mocked your name.
Lord, aren’t we your beloved dove that praises you?
Protect us from these wild beasts who want to harm us.
Don’t leave us as lambs among wolves!
You can’t abandon us after all we’ve been through!
Remember your promises to us,
for darkness covers the land,
giving the violent ones a hiding place.
Don’t let these insults continue.
Can’t you see that we are your downtrodden
and oppressed people?
Make the poor and needy into a choir of praise to you!
Don’t ignore these ignorant words, this continual mocking.
Rise up, God; it’s time to defend yourself from all this.
Never forget what your adversaries are saying.
For their rage and uproar rise continually against you.
It’s time to stand up to them!
The Book of Psalms, Poem 74 (The Passion Translation)
[Psalm 94]
O Eternal God of vengeance,
O God who sets things right, shine upon us.
Rise, O Judge who presides over the earth,
and pronounce Your sentence upon the proud.
Give them what they deserve!
How long, O Eternal One, how long
will the guilty revel in their prosperity?
Arrogance pours from their mouths;
all these troublemakers brag of their exploits.
They have broken Your people to pieces, O Eternal One,
and brought ruin to Your future generations.
They slay a widow, kill a newcomer,
and murder an orphan.
Then they say, “The Eternal can’t see what we’re up to;
the God of Jacob’s people pays no attention to us.”
Think, brainless people;
stupid people, when will you get it?
Does the God who set the ear in its place not hear?
Does the God who made the eye not see?
Does the God who teaches the nations
and guides humanity to knowledge,
not exercise just correction?
The Eternal knows the highest thoughts of the wise,
and they are worthless.
How fortunate are those You discipline, O Eternal One,
those You train by Your divine law;
You relieve them in times of distress,
until a grave is dug for evildoers.
The Eternal will not abandon His people;
He will not turn away from those He redeemed
Because justice is coming for those who do what is right
and all the good-hearted will pursue it.
Who will back me up when evildoers come against me?
Who is willing to take my side against the wicked?
If the Eternal had not come to my rescue,
my soul would have descended to the land where death silences every voice.
When I said, “My foot is slipping!”
Your unfailing love, O Eternal One, held me up.
When anxiety overtakes me and worries are many,
Your comfort lightens my soul.
Can wicked tyrants be Your allies?
Will You align with rulers who create havoc with unjust decrees?
They have joined forces against the life of the just-living, the right-seeking,
and have sentenced the innocent to death.
But the Eternal has been my citadel;
my God, a sure safe haven.
He will fold their wickedness back upon them,
and because they are malicious, He will silence them.
The Eternal, our True God, will scatter them.

Beauty and the Beast live action 2017: a character/credits analysis
So, I recently rewatched the Beauty and the Beast live action remake for the umpteenth time (it never fails to amaze me every. single. time), and gosh did I have a hard time trying to rein in my emotions at multiple points in the movie (seriously, I get that not everyone gets as emotional as I do, but if this movie doesn’t bring tears to your eyes at least once, we cannot be friends). I mean, the music (Alan Menken, you genius man), ADAM!, Evermore, “He took me there. I know what happened to Maman.” “Then you know why I had to leave her there. I had to protect you. I've always tried to protect my little girl.”, “Belle? BELLE! YOU CAME BACK!”,”At least I got to see you, one.. last.. time..”, his empty blue eyes as they gaze up, unseeing, the transformation, ADAM!.. Okay, I think you get it, even the ouverture brings tears to my eyes. I was never one to stick around for the credits at the end of a movie. But boy am I a sucker for the Beauty and the Beast credits, especially the first part during How Does A Moment Last Forever?. I admire the credits for their artistic quality and how well the lyrics fit. But then I got to think about the meaning behind it. So I felt the need to plunge into those credits and try to analyse them as best as I can.
Beware, this is a rather large post.
Alright. The Royal Celebration Ball comes to an end, I’m still on cloud 9 and the credits appear. Celine starts singing. How does a moment last forever? How can a story never die? The first character to come into view is, of course, the female lead: Belle. Above her name, the depiction of an open book, the pages turning. A book may come to its closure when you get to the last page and read ‘The End’, but its story never truly dies; the moral of the story lives on inside of you.

Can we just admire how happy she looks? She’s at peace with the world and her happily ever after. She’s wearing her iconic yellow/gold ballgown, a gown which I truthfully had to get used to when the first promotional pictures were released, but I’ve grown to love it and now, I absolutely adore it. It’s perfect and I even prefer it over the 1991 gown. It does suit Belle’s practical nature and still looks sophisticated (especially the bodice!). Plus, her necklace is my favourite piece of BatB merchandise that I own. They could have displayed her in her village dress, but I think that part of Belle(’s past) is already represented in the blue background. I’ll get back to that later. No, instead they show us Belle in her iconic ballgown. It fits the setting, it fits her new beginning and her story. Her village dress would not have fit the promise of a better future, because it stands for the memory of a past she’s eager to leave behind. That does not mean that she’ll never wear (similar versions of) it again, but it just does not fit here. Another option would have been to let Belle wear her Royal Celebration gown. I personally love that gown. I'd buy it if I had the chance and wear it as often as I could. So why not let her wear that dress in the credits, other than the fact that the golden gown is the iconic one? Belle always stood out from the crowd because she was considered odd and too far ahead of her time. And that is not a bad thing. But it can get lonely. You can start feeling lost, like you lost your place in the world. During the credits, wearing her white gown, could have caused her to stand out even more again. Look at the colours in each segment of the credits. They are perfectly balanced, in harmony with the characters. Now you’re probably thinking: But had they chosen to display Belle in her Royal Celebration gown, they probably would have used a different colour scheme for her. That is true. But, the golden gown was also a pivotal segment of Adam and Belle’s story. It made them come to realizations, selfless actions and acceptance of the inevitable. Let us go back to the depicted book I previously mentioned, just for a second. Books teach you important life lessons. Belle learned that being different from others is not a bad thing at all. Adam accepts her for who she is, he delights in it. Merde, the guy gave her a library because he saw how happy it made her. (Note to future significant other: here’s a challenge for you. Try to surpass that. You probably can’t. Unless you do have a personal library you're planning on giving me. Then I’m all yours.) They’re the same on so many things, they complete each other. They’re both sides of the same coin, yin and yang, keeping each other balanced. So at the end of the movie, Belle has learned that it is okay to be different, to stand out from the crowd. She also found where she belonged and discovered a purpose. So she fits in, more or less, but still stands out because she won’t back down for what she believes is right. That is who she is (and I salute her for that). She won’t give up fighting for her cause. Belle is surrounded by a golden blooming rose and a golden baroque ornament (just like Adam!), against a blue background. I’ll get back to the blue blackground when I discuss Maurice. But the roses, that’s something that unites Adam and Belle. The rose stands for so many things. In Belle’s case: her past (the rattle), her love for the mother she never knew and her longing to know more about her. The rose also symbolises her childhood and her childish innocence. But it also brought her a new beginning, a new life, love, and because of that love she can and will travel the world, have adventures in the great wide somewhere, and not just live adventures through her books. Her story is only just beginning.

Then there’s Adam: It is love we must hold unto. Never easy, but we try. Those lyrics were made just for him, I’m telling you! The atmosphere changes; we see a darker image that pans out; it’s the depiction of Beast!Adam, but as the rose blooms, his past melts away and the background changes, lightens, and we see the castle emerge. Adam doesn’t exactly smile, but it’s clear to me that he’s happy. He looks us in the eyes with a confidence that speaks for itself. He’s ready for the future, ready for his life with Belle. And let us not forget: the man had a horrible childhood; he lost his mother and was brought up by his terribly cruel father. Like Belle, the blooming rose stands for his new beginning, a second chance. He’s learned to love, managed to tear down the walls surrounding his heart and step out of his own shadow, a shadow which his father had cast as he “twisted [Adam] up to be just like him...”
On to his outfit. He’s wearing his blue Royal Celebration outfit, one that I absolutely love. It’s pale blue, which stands for the freedom to break free. And boy was he able to break free. Their mutual love is what saved him, and now he’s celebrating life, love and the trust that better times will come. I think the choice by depicting Adam in this suit is striking. Displaying him in his Trash Prince outfit from the Prologue? Nah, not an option. Because like Belle, he’s leaving the past behind. They could have depicted him in the ensemble he wore when he died/transformed into his human form.. But minus the stunned expression, I think..

Ha! As you can see, cloning a background is not really my specialty. But then again, no. His Royal Celebration outfit suits his ‘new me’ far better than that plunging neckline. During the Prologue, he danced with every single girl who was lucky enough to catch his eye. During the Royal Celebration Ball, he only danced with Belle, because all he could see was her. This is character development, peeps. Now if that doesn’t overflow you with feels, I don’t know what does.

Then there’s Gaston. Being the great hunter he is, he has antlers framing his name. Sometimes our happiness is captured.. And.. a mirror appears. “You are the wildest... most gorgeous thing I have ever seen. Nobody deserves you. But at least I know our children will be beautiful.” So.. he is his own happiness? I’m not much of a pro in Latin, but ‘Vanitas vanitatum et omnia vanitas’ sure applies to him, I’d say. Luke, hun, I love you. But Gaston? Not so much.

Papa Maurice! I feel so connected to him, because his fatherly love reminds me of my own parents. Somehow a time and place stands still.. That wistful look, a small smile playing on his lips as he looks down and away.. The world and time did stand still for this poor man, on more than one occassion. First, in Paris when he was forced to leave his dying wife behind in order to safe their daughter and provide her with a safe(r) future. I can imagine that this was, by far, the most difficult decision he’s ever had to make. Then, when Belle took his place as Adam’s prisoner, allowing him to escape. And once again when Belle convinced him to help her get out of the wagon so she could travel back to the castle to warn Adam and be with him for evermore. “Your mother was... fearless. Fearless.” In those moments, Belle must have reminded him of his poor wife, and how much she resembles her. His name is framed by gears, symbolizing his craftsmanship and his music boxes. The background, like Belle’s, is sky blue, and like I promised, here’s my little analysis on that. Blue stands for intelligence and creativity, but also strength, wisdom and trust. It symbolizes openness; the sea, the sky. But I also think an open mind. Maurice and Belle are both openminded, they don’t judge others for who they are. Blue also means being sincere, reserved and quiet, and the dislike to make a fuss or draw attention. That doesn’t necessarily apply to Belle, but I think this does apply to Maurice, especially during the first scenes when he’s in his workshop and preparing for the market. He likes his life to be simple, peaceful, unlike the awful conclusion of his life in Paris. Live and let live. But as you can see, clouds are rolling in. Some of them white, others darker and ominious. Maurice moved to Villeneuve with Belle to give them a fresh start. The people there are simple, they do the exact same things every day. They’re used to routines and mind their own business (well in theory, mostly). He regarded Villeneuve as their safe haven, a chance to start anew. And like Maurice told Belle in his workshop: “This is a small village, you know. Small minded as well. But small also means safe”. Well until then, at least. Because said small minded people are easily convinced that the unknown is a threat and should be eliminated. Everyone who stands in their way, is regarded as an equal threat as well and deserves the same treatment, leading to Maurice’s imprisonment. As a parent, he’s always tried to protect his daughter. And later on, he realizes he might have been too overprotective. He sees so much of his fearless deceased wife in their headstrong daughter, leading to his fatherly pride battling with his fatherly concern for her wellbeing, wanting to protect her but at the same time realizing he’ll have to let her go at some point. I love how we see Maurice at the end of the movie, during the Royal Celebration Ball. He’s painting on canvas again, a hobby/profession I think he left behind in Paris when he fled. Ignoring the fact that he painted his music boxes, of course. It seems he wasn’t that out of practice, anyway. He looks truly satisfied, a small blush on his cheeks as he watches his daughter dance in the arms of her prince. I think nothing makes him more proud than to see his daughter so happy, and it brings out the best in him too. I think he found his purpose again, knowing that Belle is taken well care of, and that she found her dream.

Love lives on inside our hearts, and always will.. LeFou, my precious! Oh how I love LeFou. Like Adam and Belle, his story is only just beginning. He‘s starting a new life, free from the shackles that tied him to a life of abuse. Yes, abuse. You see the theatre masks above his name? It’s not because his character was meant as ‘just’ some sort of comic relief. The poor guy was keeping up a brave smile while at the same time he was falling apart. Life with Gaston wasn’t easy for him, even though he kept telling himself that LeDuo was all that mattered, thus making himself believe the lie. The dark clouds symbolize that life of darkness, of standing in the shadow of a man who wasn’t worthy of his love and support anyway. Because LeFou is really not a bad person. He is good at heart, we’ve seen that multiple times when he tried to defend Maurice, even though it was to no avail, and later when he rescued Mrs. Potts and switched sides. Mrs. Potts was right: LeFou was “too good for him anyway”. The yoke he was carrying was just too heavy for him to throw off, and can we blame him? I think not. But, dawn is breaking. The promise of a new life, a brighter future. He gets his own chance at happiness with Stanley, and I couldn’t be happier for him. Gone are the times of pretending, of acting like he was fine and it didn’t really matter. He still has a long way to go, but with the help, love and guidance of Stanley and his newfound friends at the castle (especially Mrs. Potts! I can totally see her taking him under her wing) his healing process can finally begin. And I’m already proud of him.

Minutes turn to hours, days to years then gone.. Lumière. Light of my life. I think we all need a Lumière to brighten things up once in awhile. That is why I love the way he is depicted here, alongside his enchanted self, of course. I really like the design, and it does suit his personality. He is a showman, doesn’t do things the half way if he’s convinced it is the right thing to do. His outfit resembles the colour of the sky we see here; a warm soft hue of sunlight, making it appear as if it’s on fire. Lumière means light and it is what he is in every way imaginable. He is the guiding light, he’s bright, he gleams, he shines. Plus, his wig is a work of art. If Adam would be the leader of a secret clubs of dandies, I think Lumière would be his S.I.C.

But when all else has been forgotten..

Still our song lives on...
Maestro Cadenza and his Diva, Mme De Garderobe. I think it’s only fair to give them a joint analysis, after so many years of being apart. They are dressed in the same ensembles as they wore during the Prologue, and of course they are accompanied by their enchanted selves, their colour palettes and extravagance matching perfectly in both human and enchanted form. Cadenza’s name is framed by music notes and ribbons flow through the air behind Mme. And once again, the lyrics fit like a glove! Gardenza’s music and songs are a major key to breaking the curse. The Maestro's accompanying music to many key scenes, like the Prologue, Days in the Sun, the title song that is actually composed by him, the Finale.. it all gives the magic of this movie an extra dimension. Mme. De Garderobe, as Mme. de La Grande Bouche, was already an opera singer in the stage musical. By introducing Cadenza in the live action movie, thus ignoring the subtle chemistry she had with Cogsworth in said stage version, is a wonderful addition if you ask me. On to the backgrounds. They have hints of purple in it. Purple stands for lots of things, like ambition, extravagance, creativity and grandeur. What other couple applies to these qualities? None, I’d say. They are ambitious and creative, composing and singing songs even during the enchantment, they are extravagant and simply radiate grandeur. It’s not just a plain coincidence that Adam wanted them to perform at his débutante ball we saw during the Prologue, you know? They are the best, and so he had to have the best. Purple also means devotion and magic. Think about it. As far as we know, the only couple to be found within the castle walls who haven’t seen each other in years because of the curse and are still very much devoted to eachother, are Cadenza and Mme. De Garderobe. Talk about relationship goals. The only way they were able to ‘converse’ was through their darling dog FrouFrou or one of the servants. It must have been so lonely for both of them.. (Not that it wasn’t for M. Jean and Mrs. Potts (and Chip), but M. Jean lost his memory of them. He knew he was missing something, or rather, someone aka his family, but he never knew for sure what it was until the curse was actually broken.)

Maybe some moments weren’t so perfect..
Plumette. What a Queen. I would have liked to see so much more of her. I was so happy they actually gave her a name that resembled her lightness and - of course - her enchanted self. Little Plumeau. So much better than Fifi, Marie or Babette, depending on which previous movie/musical version you’re more familiar with. I’m very disappointed we only got to know so little of her, other than that she’s playful and graceful and sweet and perfect. And Lumière’s girl, of course.

Maybe some memories not so sweet.. But we have to know some bad times..
Ahahahaha! That has to be the understatement of the year. Agathe. Our enchantress/village spinster-turned-beggar-turned-medicine woman-turned-life saver. Because yes, Belle professed her love for Adam but it was a) after Adam died and b) after the rose died with him. Technically speaking, the curse was permanent. But Agathe, out of the goodness of her heart, reversed the curse, conquered death and all was well again. She’s dressed in gold and, if I may say so, she has gorgeous hair! The rose and baroque ornament kind of resemble that of Belle and Adam, but hers are white with golden details in it. I wasn’t sure if it was a rose (I’m not that much or a floral expert) or perhaps a white carnation (that’s really a wild guess) or something completely different. But, let’s say it’s a rose for now. After all, Agathe loves roses, or so it seems. The red rose she offered Adam before she cast her curse resembles love. Because there was no love in his heart, he had to find it in himself again and earn it in return. A burgundy red rose stands for a love that has yet to be realized, so I’m going with that explanation for the red rose. But a white rose.. A white rose means a new beginning and hope for the future. Her job is done, Adam learned to love another and earned love in return. By reversing the curse and bringing him back from the dead, she’s given him a new beginning, a fresh start and a second chance at life. He’s no longer the selfish and unkind prince, but a loving and kind man.
The golden details of the flower and ornament, along with the golden colour of her attire stand for success, achievement and triumph. The question if the enchantment and how far it reached was a real necessity is a topic of discussion, but I think we all agree with the fact that Agathe’s enchantment was successful and that she achieved her goal. Love triumphed, saved the day and all is as it should be.

Or our lives are incomplete. Then when the shadows overtake us.. One thing I’ll never understand is why Chip had to be cursed as well. Yeah okay, he was there, otherwise he could have run off and that wouldn’t have been exactly helpful either. That is, if he made it out in time. And if he did, he probably wouldn’t remember his mother, the castle, his friends.. And/Or if he did (or didn’t) his father propably wouldn’t remember him anyway and no one would believe him. He’d be considered as a boy who had lost his mother/parents and was probably making up stories because he felt lonely. That would have made it even more sad. Either way, it all just doesn’t make much sense to me. I get that Agathe cursed the servants as some sort of redemption for them as well for not standing up for Adam to protect him from his father. I’m not sure if they would have been successful though if they had. I’m sure Adam’s father would have fired them on the spot, so I’m not certain if they would have had a chance at all to make a difference. But that was years before Chip was born. Oh, you can't judge people by who their father is, now can you? applies to Chip as well in my humble opinion. You cannot judge him because his mother failed to stand up against Adam’s father. He’s an innocent child. You can’t hold that against him. Now that I think about it, do you remember Mrs. Potts’ frantic cries for her son as she followed him into the ballroom? I mentioned it here in one of my headcanons that was brought to life after reading some old Beauty and the Beast comics. We all know how proud, selfish and unkind Adam was, but according to Mrs. Potts he also had a soft spot for Chip:

In said headcanon I added the following observation which I’m still planning on incorporating in my (sadly currently still neglected) fic:
Is this why the producers decided to have little Chip race into the ballroom as the curse took its effect? Because Chip actually looked up to Adam, and because they were actually friends? Because Adam secretly enjoyed Chip’s company, regarding Chip as the little brother he never had?
It gives me chills every time I think about it. Perhaps Agathe was aware of the close bond between Adam and Chip, and because of that she wanted to prevent Chip from turning into the same man as Adam was, afraid that Chip would see Adam as a (albeit bad) rolemodel. Thanks for breaking my heart in tiny little pieces, Disney.

Just when we feel all hope is gone.. We’ll hear our song and know once more... Henri Cogsworth. Surrounded by cogwheels and the dial of a clock, before the image pans out, revealing his enchanted self. Former military man, current (cynical, pompous yet cowardly) majordomo and head of the household. I can imagine he was rather satisfied that he no longer had serve in the King’s army, but was even happier when he started working at the castle to avoid his wife, Mme. Clothilde, who he left behind in Villeneuve. I think it’s safe to say he’s quite disillusioned with love, judging his far from enthusiastic reaction upon hearing his wife calling out his name and his rather spontaneous wish to be turned back into a clock again. Or his observation that you’ll feel slightly nauseous when you know you have found ‘the one’. Whether or not he once thought that of Clothilde, will forever remain a mystery (in canon, that is). I think Cogsworth is not an easy man to love. You’ll have to approach him in a certain way, be able to break through his stern and cranky personality traits. From what I have seen of Mme. Clothilde, though we do not know any specifics of their life together, she’s not a subtle and easygoing kind of person either. She’s a tough woman, far from a mere damsel in distress. She’s learned to fend for herself, a character trait that would be helpful to any military wife I’d say. They say opposites attract, but in their case they probably clash. Even so, she must love him and has certainly missed him, judging the way she hugs him over and over again, to Cogsworth’s great dismay. By the end of the Celebration Ball however, he’s happily dancing with her and they do look content to be close to each other again. My idea is that he does love her, but is not so fond of her public displays of affection. Even though he is a rather cowardly man in times of danger, he was a military man after all, judging his military awards and decorations he proudly wears on his uniform. It could also mean his eagerness to keep up appearances, always wanting to appear to be in charge and in check of his emotions. He may try to appear being indifferent to love, but I think he does love in his own way, without showing it. Because he doesn’t want others to think him weak? Even now, when the lyrics mention love, he frowns and looks away. Perhaps his cogwheels are in dire need of some much needed oiling..

Our love lives on.
Mrs. Potts, the sweet motherly head housekeeper and loving mama to Chip. And, of course, loving wife to M. Jean, Villeneuve’s potter. Golden embellishments in the sky form the image of her enchanted self. She’s smiling sweetly at us, inviting us to accept a rather adorable teacup that’s in her hands. I’d like a herbal tea, please. No no, no lump. Thank you Mrs. Potts, how very kind of you. *sips tea* Now where was I? Ah yes, Beatrice Potts. She’s a firm believer of love, and is perhaps the only one in the castle who had faith from the very beginning until the very end that all would be well. Perhaps it is because of her gentle nature that she kept believing. Or perhaps because of her love for her own son and husband, eager to be reunited again and be a family once more. Either way, no matter how many years have gone by, she’ll stop at nothing to ensure that Chip will have his days in the sun again. I feel as though she is the mother hen who keeps everyone together. She’s the one to turn to when you need advice, when you’re in trouble or just need a shoulder to cry on. She’ll provide you with the best kind of advice, helping you see things differently, motivating and encouraging you. She’s open-minded and always ready to forgive, like she did with LeFou. And even if you don’t want to hear it, she’ll sternly confront you to tell you what you need to hear. She’s the voice of reason, has the biggest heart imaginable and has the patience of a saint. She believes Adam can change, has faith in him and tries to help in a motherly way, no doubt seeing it as a chance to atone for not helping him all those years ago by protecting him from his awfully cruel and abusive father. I think we all need a Mrs. Potts in our lives once in a while.. Whoever that may be in your case; your mother (or father), sister (or brother), grandmother (or grandfather) or best friend. And, perhaps, at the same time, you can try to be a Mrs. Potts once in a while as well. Because after all, we all need posivitism, hope and forgiveness in our lives.

That’s it, everyone. You have just read my musings after an entire week of analysing. Thoughts/ideas/additions are more than welcome :-)

Ford is a USA automaker of leading cars stand as a Ford Motor Company marquee and one of the U.S.A's largest manufacturer of automobiles of prevailing cars all over the world. with an headquarter in Dearborn, Michigan, penetrated the public in 1903, Ford primarily integrate similar kind of electric keys and locks structure on almost all of their cars since 1996.
On decrepit generations, to make another key on the dash-board, the driver has to have not less than 1 programmed serviceable key, withal to copy another key for current car, an exclusive diagnostic equipment and key programmer is mandatory.
Since 2007, Ford cars can integrate the Intelligent Access with push-button start for it's a pushtostart ignition or smart key as a optional or standard platform.
Ignition switch repair
Your car ignition switch grants power from your car battery to nearly every of your car’s electronics and contain tiny mechanical and electrical segments that commonly have tendency to worn down as a result of heavy traffic using the ignition system for many years.
If your Ford ignition key wont turn, dash-board console lights flickering, key turn freely in ignition and key have problems turning in the ignition, chances are strong that it is a manifestation of decaying ignition lock or key as a result of dent ignition key, foreign object inside the key-hole or high temperature that can surely provoke the ignition lock to go wrong, restraining you from activating your vehicle.
While operating a vehicle, poor ignition cylinder can shut the engine down during driving, which may become incredibly unsafe, which is why we strongly advise not to tamper with the ignition tumbler by unqualified hands which may going to cause a deeper hardship and liability.
The only thing an owner can do coming across ignition cylinder or key issues is to double check you’re actually attempting to light up your own car and ask a car key-smith to come out to your premise to replace, repair rekey the key or ignition which will priced as around $160–$360.
Chipped key construct
In the 1990’s car makers employed no digital chips in their lock and key instrumentation. Vehicle lock-cracking and stealing was common and present a grand concern to drivers and insurance companies world wide.
The key hold a chip, listed with an exclusive encrypted identification number and the car computer module coded with matching identification number. At the same time as the key is put in the ignition, the transponder transmit a radio frequency ciphered signal to the immobilizer. If the ciphered signal isn't verified, the car's computer demobilize the fuel injection and the vehicle will not turn on.
The disadvantage of employing electrical chipped keys and immobilised car computer module keylock is that in most situations to restore a stolen or lost key, the immobiliser has to be re-coded by specific key programming machine which implies that you’ll must hire a car locksmith or tow your motor vehicle to the dealership.
Ford smart key
Proximity key remotes, also called (RKS or RKE) allow a car owner to unlock and lock their car or truck remotely in addition to alternative features such as releasing the trunk or turning on the fog lamps to upturn visibility at night or in bleak weather. In addition, some contemporary keys integrate remote start which is appear to be mandatory on contemporary vehicles.
Exceedingly all smart keys integrate a proximity radar system that is turned on when the smart key located within a specific distance of the car. This Proximity key are handsfree meaning that the car can be unlocked and locked or shut down and activate the car ignition without driver input.
Copy vs lost car keys
The actual process of cutting and programming a car key differ among particular year and models of your Ford. On several models, dash-board console programming could be applied to copy a spare transponder key. This interface ward off the need for costly computer equipment and codes when programming a new transponder key to the car. Models who don't provision Dash-board console key copy arrangement should have an extra key programmed employing a dedicated computer equipment that is available only to a sanctioned locksmith or Ford dealer-ship.
This coding machine priced as approximately several thousands of dollars to own which is why having an electrical car key is way more expensive to plainly cut an old-style metal blade key.
If you lost all keys to your car you will probably need to tow your vehicle to the dealership or find a vehicle locksmith to come out to your place of choice to decode the vehicle computer to employ the new key and deny the lost one. Lost key made prescribe ownership papers like insurance, registration or title and will priced as approximately $185–$270.

· Are all companies reputable and members of the Better Business Bureau?
· Have you compared the B.B.B reports and checked for complaints?
· Are all estimates for the exact same work. Make sure you are comparing apples to apples.
· Check warranty information. How long a company stands behind their work is often a good criteria for decision making.
· Are all estimates relatively close in price? There is an industry average for electrical work. Bids that appear to be too high should really be examined closely.

NOTE:
· Have you heard of a Federal Pacific or Zinsco electrical panel?
· Has someone told you “Your breaker box is dangerous”?
· Did you know that these “Stab-Lock” breakers can fail to “trip”?
· Federal Pacific and Zinsco breaker boxes are no longer UL listed and should be replaced
*Caddell Electric is not implying that if you own “Stab Lock” designed breakers your home will burn. It is however, safe to say that if you do in fact own this type of breaker, have a short circuit, and it fails to “trip”, the potential for a fire is great.
Here are a few facts from the U.S. Fire Administration regarding house fires.
During a typical year, home electrical problems account for 67,800 fires, 485 deaths, and $868 million in property losses. Home electrical wiring causes twice as many fires as electrical appliances.
The Facts
December is the most dangerous month for electrical fires. Fire deaths are highest in winter months which call for more indoor activities and increase in lighting, heating, and appliance use. Most electrical wiring fires start in the bedroom.
The Cause
Electrical Wiring
Most electrical fires result from problems with “fixed wiring” such as faulty electrical outlets and old wiring. Problems with cords and plugs, such as extension and appliance cords, also cause many home electrical fires.
In urban areas, faulty wiring accounts for 33% of residential electrical fires.
Many avoidable electrical fires can be traced to misuse of electric cords, such as overloading circuits, poor maintenance and running the cords under rugs or in high traffic areas.
Home Appliances
The home appliances most often involved in electrical fires are electric stoves and ovens, dryers, central heating units, televisions, radios and record players.
Safety Precautions
· Routinely check your electrical appliances and wiring.
· Frayed wires can cause fires. Replace all worn, old or damaged appliance cords immediately.
· Use electrical extension cords wisely and don’t overload them.
· Keep electrical appliances away from wet floors and counters; pay special care to electrical appliances in the bathroom and kitchen.
· When buying electrical appliances, look for products evaluated by a nationally recognized laboratory, such as
· Underwriters Laboratories (UL).
· Don’t allow children to play with or around electrical appliances like space heaters, irons and hair dryers.
· Keep clothes, curtains and other potentially combustible items at least three feet from all heaters.
· If an appliance has a three-prong plug, use it only in a three-slot outlet. Never force it to fit into a two-slot outlet or extension cord.
· Never overload extension cords or wall sockets. Immediately shut off, then professionally replace light switches, that are hot to the touch, and lights that flicker. Use safety closures to “child-proof” electrical outlets.
· Check your electrical tools regularly for signs of wear. If the cords are frayed or cracked, replace them. Replace any tool if it causes even small electrical shocks, overheats, shorts out or gives off smoke or sparks.

Best Ski Goggles 2018
For our annual list of the best ski goggles in 2017, we only chose goggles with a high optical quality, interchangeable lens systems for maximum usability. Helmet compatible straps and high quality, layered foam for all day face comfort were also critical deciding factors. As a result, our #1 pick is the Smith IO 7 goggle which boast large spherical lenses, easy lens interchange, and a highly adjustable strap compatible with most helmets. To that end, Smith offers tons of lens and color options for this particular goggle including a photochromic option, which automatically adjusts to the brightness of the sun. Also, did we mention that Smith offers a lifetime craftsmanship warranty?
Best Ski Goggles 2018
How We Choose
In the five years of teaching skiing full time, I've figured out how to separates the okay goggles from the legendary ones, and how to avoid some of the most common mistakes in goggle buying. How do we choose the best of the best? We're looking for goggles with advanced spherical lenses, that offer great peripheral views, UV protection, and stylish color options. Our choices must be helmet compatible too, as more and more skiers wise up to the benefits of protecting their heads. We're also only including lenses with interchangeable lens systems - an important factor for swapping lenses on bright or cloudy days. All of the goggles we have chosen are offered by recognized manufacturers in ski industry with proven track record, and we've avoided budget and up-and-coming brands to bring you only the most refined ski goggles available today.
Why You Should Buy New Ski Goggles
Goggles have evolved greatly over the last handful of years to meet two main needs. First, skiers are demanding more flashy colors and styles, and second, skiers are almost universally wearing helmets today which older goggles cannot fit over anymore. Helmet use is on the rise, and we really expect to soon see every skier wearing a helmet. This means old goggles with small straps are out. You need a goggle with enough adjustability to be worn with or without a helmet and that's exactly what we've chosen here. Our goggles feature highly adjustable headbands and wider attachment points at the goggle to accommodate that new helmet. While fashion may not be the most critical upgrade factor, flashy new lenses do offer a few real upgrades over older lenses. First, newer goggles and lenses are beginning to incorporate wide lenses with a greater peripheral view. This helps with safety, allowing you to see more of what (and who) is around you at all times. Second, these newer lenses are using reflective coated technology to help shed harmful UV light before it reaches your eyes. Because crisp visibility and wide viewing angles are an important part of skiing at your best level and avoiding potential dangers, we feel there's a strong case to be made for an upgrade. Your goggles may be the unsung hero of your skiing gear. Without a good goggle you'll be left skiing in poor, flat lighting which makes skiing difficult and unsafe. Choosing the right goggle and lens combo will revolutionize the way you see the snow you're skiing...literally.
Smith IO 7
Price: $160 | Style: Interchange | Included Lenses: 2 WHY IT'S A TOP PICK: Refined simple design with large spherical lens for perfect viewing. Designed around a "less is more" concept, these interchangeable goggles come with two lenses (on most models). You can swap out your lenses with one simple turn of the release lever, and lock the new ones back in within seconds. All around the best ski goggle we have reviewed on our list. Triple layer foam on the IO 7 surrounds your face with moisture wicking synthetic fibers for a dry, cool fit all day, no matter how hard you're hucking it. One of many reasons this goggle earns our top rating is for the almost limitless variations available. Buy your goggles in one of more than a dozen frame and strap colors, and you can buy just about any color reflective lens to match your style. Highly customizable, reliable, and crystal clear viewing make the Smith IO 7 our editor's pick for best ski goggle this season. Read: Best Ski Boots Quick release strap and silicone bands around the entire strap help to make sure that once the goggles are on, they won't be coming back off easily. Wide pivot strap hinges are designed with helmets in mind and we know this goggle will perform like a dream with your favorite helmet. I recommend the photochromic lens - it adjusts the darkness of the lenses automatically based on the brightness of the day. Sunny day? You lens will automatically become darker. Cloudy day? You lens will lighten up for better viewing and safer skiing!
Smith IOX
Price: $99 | Style: Interchange | Included Lenses: 2 WHY IT'S A TOP PICK: At a lower price tag this great wide lens goggle is compatible with glasses (OTG)! I've been rocking the Smith IOX goggles for years since they first hit the market and I can say that with over 300 days in these goggles, they don't back down and never fog up. The Smith IOX are also one of the best ski goggles for wearing over the glasses (OTG). Roomy, comfortable, and featuring a cutout on the sides for your glasses to sit gently on your temples without being smashed by the goggle. Without a doubt, the IOX goggles earn the best OTG goggle pick on our list. Changing lenses on these goggles isn't as easy as the newer IO 7 goggles, but it's still quite simple. The quick release strap is durable and reliable, fitting any helmet with ease and style. Our main concern is that the IOX goggle offers slightly less peripheral view compared to the IO 7's. These are great, reliable goggles with all the performance of the IO 7's at a fraction of the price.
Oakley Flight Deck
Price: $174 | Style: Interchange | Included Lenses: 1 WHY IT'S A TOP PICK: Massive lens will keep you looking like the best skier on the mountain (even taking diggers on the bunny hill). Oakley has been making solidly-built optics for years, and ski goggles are no exception. The Oakley Flight Deck ski goggles are based around an oversize spherical lens and a low profile look. The may not be not as slick as Maverick's gold rimmed aviators from that 1986 classic, but it's as close as you're going to get without an F-14. Without a doubt, the best ski goggles for style and fashion. The included lenses are designed to be 100% protective to UV light for prolonged high altitude exposure to sunlight. We all know how bright a cloudless day can be on fresh snow pack at 12,000 feet - keep yourself protected! Our only real complaint is the high price and single lens included with the goggle.
Dragon Alliance X2
Price: $129 | Style: Interchange| Included Lenses: 2 WHY IT'S A TOP PICK: Thin frame design makes the lens view unobstructed and completely immersive for great skiing. If you're looking for a serious goggle with a lens view that won't compromise, then the X2 is for you! Dragon Alliance created this goggle around a frame-less design, which maximizes real estate and minimizes any obstruction of view. For their reasonable price it seems Dragon Alliance has been able to create an awesome goggle at a killer budget price. Don't forget the goggles come with two lenses right out of the box. We think this is a great deal at a great price. Dragon Alliance has really been the sole maker of "frameless" goggles up until recently. You can be assured these goggles make a statement and won't be mistaken on the hill. While gaining popularity, they're still much less common than the Oakley and Smith goggles. Dragon Alliance X2's earn best frame-less goggle design.
POC Lobe Goggle
Price: $77 | Style: Interchange | Included Lenses: 1 WHY IT'S A TOP PICK: Economy based pricing with a wide lens view and great fitment. If you're in the market for a great wide lens goggle with helmet compatibility at a reasonable price, then the POC Lobe might be just the ticket. Unfortunately the interchange system is a little clunky compared to other goggles on our list but the lower price might just make up for it. Relatively narrow outriggers for the goggle straps mean you may have a tight fit over larger helmets, but the strap its self is plenty adjustable to meet your needs with or without a helmet. Unfortunately lenses will cost as much or more than a whole new set of these goggles, so choose your color options wisely when purchasing. These goggles stand out on the hill with a unique, simple aesthetic that's recognizable from a distance. With uniform color throughout the goggle, the POC Lobes earn the best ski goggle choice for the skier looking to match colors. They look great with a sleek, matching color helmet too!
Key Factors and Features of a Good Ski Goggle
View: Never compromise on view. One part of having great clarity and contrast through a goggle is a high visibility lens for overcast days. I highly recommend an interchangeable lens system for this reason. Spend the extra money on a good pair of wide view goggles too, and your skiing will improve dramatically.
Price: Price is a big deal to many skiers. A new pair of skis and boots are expensive, so it can be tempting to try and save a little money on the goggles, but don't do it! Investing in good goggles is critical to avoid fogging, clarity issues, and low light contrast issues. It's scary trying to ski moguls in low light with a foggy lens. Avoid that by investing in a good goggle system.
Helmet Fit: Most goggles these days are designed to be worn with a helmet. Wide hinge points for strap attachment and silicone bands on the strap help keep everything in place. Make sure your goggles and straps are wide enough to fit around your helmet - all of our recommendations are!
Lens Types: Buying a goggle with a wide assortment of available lenses is a huge bonus. On super dark and snowy days a clear (or near clear) lens is great to improve visibility. For bright bluebird skiing a reflective lens helps protect your eyes from solar radiation, and also gives a good increase to your overall "radness" level in style.
Included Lenses: If you're spending good money on a new goggle system, look for one that includes more than one lens with your purchase. The Smith IO7 goggles we reviewed, for example, usually come with two lenses - a dark and a light lens to accommodate different weather patterns throughout the day.
Mistakes to Avoid
Going Too Big: With the big goggle trend at an all time high, some skiers may buy the coolest goggles only to find out they're actually too big to fit with their helmet. Yeah, that's a thing. Check reviews to make sure the goggles you're ordering aren't too big to fit your riding setup. Skimping on Price: Many skiers will say their skis or ski boots are the most important piece of gear. I would urge you to think differently - your goggles are the most important piece of gear. Without a good, crisp image to see while you're skiing, it's impossible to avoid dangers and injury. Fog, flat lighting, and overly dark lenses are all common issues. Spend the extra dough on your goggles - you'll be happy you did.
Which Ski Goggle is Right For Me
With so many options on the market, we've narrowed it down to reputable brands with goggles that outperform and are feature rich. We recommend you stick with high quality ski goggles to get the most out of your day on the mountain. Glasses can be difficult to wear when skiing so if you're looking for an over the glasses (OTG) goggle solution, go with our #2 pick, the Smith IOX goggle. Interchange lenses, high performance, and OTG fitment make this goggle a clear winner. If you want only the best all-around goggle system today, we recommend the Smith IO 7's with quick interchange lenses, triple layer foam for all day comfort, and many choices of advanced lens technology. We also think they beat the competition with helmet compatibility and adjustability. For the newest and sleekest frameless goggle look on the mountain, it's tough to top the Dragon Alliance X2's upgraded from previous models. Huge lenses, tons of color options, and reworked design make them a total winner. Ultimately all of the ski goggles we've chosen have a place on the mountain, and all that's left for you to do is choose a goggle based on your needs and budget.
