I like sumitaba and specifically thinking about them attending Shujin together post canon and flirting with each other in a "I like you and I need you to know but I would rather die than say it directly, what if I ruin our friendship" sort of way

Futaba has a photographic memory and is extremely smart, so she doesn't need to try at all in school while school does not come naturally to Sumire, who works incredibly diligently to get good grades. Sumire stresses about how difficult studying is for her one time and Futaba immediately starts taking detailed notes with added analysis to share with her. Futaba's never taken notes before in her life but damned if she's not putting way more effort into making these class notes than she does into the actual homework assigned. She adds little jokes and quips into the notes and her stomach does this stupid little flip whenever she catches Sumire laughing at one of them.

Sumire notices Futaba's poor diet (just instant noodles all the time, supplemented by curry) and starts making extra food for lunch to share with her. Is she getting up a little bit earlier now to do this? Does she have a little notebook where she's keeping track of foods Futaba hates/loves? Is she making everything into cute little shapes/animals because they make Futaba smile? Who's to say. She always lies about making too much food and "not possibly being able to eat it all" even though honestly she probably could eat it all herself.

So naturally, they both think their crush is unrequited.
