I’m sorry people are not being very kind. I hope you know that the number of interactions that you get doesn’t define how good of a writer you are. I think it’s just a consequence of tumblr/the fandom dying.

I’ve had more luck with longer fics on AO3, it’s free to post/use. Maybe because people go there primarily for longer fics? Idk I just know that I’ve gotten a lot more interactions there.

Also I just want to add that I often think of you and your stories and am sending you good vibes/prayers. I hope that you do what makes you happy 💛 and if writing isn’t that don’t force yourself to.

(Also just have to add I’ve been thinking about Where the Storm Gathers probably once a week since you posted the last chapter 😅. Not saying this to pressure just the series is one of the best I’ve read and you should know)

you do get across “smart”, detailed, incredibly well plotted masterpieces here all the time but, just as you said, definitely not AUs (infantile) and definitely not in the 5sos fam part of tumblr, sadly we are way past our peak

Oh I know there are some amazing fics out there that aren’t au. But calling them infantile is just a bit much here , I think. When 5sos went MIA a couple of years back, the ones that kept the fandom going here were the writers. Amazing writers such as Angie, Hailey, Blanca, Crystal, Cass… just to name a few, kept the fandom going with their amazing AU’s series and fics. AU’s were the backbone of the fandom.

We might be past our peak, but don’t forget what brought that peak in the first place. It might not be your style or many people styles nowadays, but there is no need to tear any expression of art down.

Thank you for your words ❤️ but, at the same time, they’re not wrong. They were rude, yes, but the point they made about aus is still true. As I’ve seen, many of the stories here now are contemporary one shots that focus on smut (which we love, please they’re are so freaking by good) but layered stories, with chapters, that utilizes smart as a way to progress the growth or plot… those are not here anymore. Or at least they will not get that much attention.

It’s the tiktokfication of tumblr 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’ve realized that a long time ago, but they didn’t have to say it like that.

I mean I was not referring to the amount of content/interactions. Those been slow for months. And I know my story ideas aren’t for everyone and AU’s are not as popular as they used to.

I was referring more to the feeling of sharing something here. Getting excited for sharing art. I used to get so happy with every post I made, would write one fic a day, maybe even two. Now it seems more like me trying to get that same feeling again because I remembered how happy it made me and I need that rn.

Writing saved my life when I most needed to. I was hoping now it could do the trick as well.

💘: None that I could think of really. The old ones are cringy and with poorly grammar, but they still show my progress and growth so I wouldn't change a thing

💎: cause it saved my life. it's my therapy and my escape. it's what I always wanted to do. I have a voice and a message and an outlet. I help myself and I hope it helps others as well. it's my own little thing and I adore it. I have met so many amazing people because of it. it's me

📡: I agree with your take and you have no idea how much it means to me. I embrace the heartbreak and I like giving it a new meaning besides all the angst. it might be my way of just letting it all out, but I truly believe that pain must be felt, heartbreak, sadness, having your soul torn apart, it's part of life and it's so so beautiful to be able to just feel and let it evolve into something even more beautiful. There's a song that claims "after the storm, the sun comes out" and I live by that. and even if some of my fics don't have a happy ending, you'll know that it'll be okay. endings don't need to be happy for them to turn into new beginnings.
