I've been playing some Super Robot Wars GC lately. You can capture enemy units, which is pretty neat.

I'm about to finish Super Robot Wars GC so i'm going to give a short first impression of each series featured in this game that i haven't watched yet, cause i can't sleep.
-Future Robo Daltanius: it's cool that it's about a bunch of war orphans but other than that it looks rather uninteresting.
-Super Beast Machine God Dancouga: cool name. The characters from this seem to be constantly pissed off and at odds with one another which i enjoy. I particulary like sniveling shit Shapiro who has a god complex and starts dressing like a queen once he switches to the enemy side. Probably the most fun antagonist in the game, too bad he blows up halfway through.
-J9 trilogy: all of these guys are chill as fuck and their shows look really stylish. I love that their collective catchphrase is yelling "yay" over and over.
-Invincible Robot Trider G7: looks like a very funny show. Clearly inspired another of my favorite mech games Robot Alchemic Drive with the concept of the protagonist being the school aged ceo of a robot company and having to watch out for finances when fighting. Yeah!
-Strongest Robo Daiohja: the premise just being about a prince and his retainers travelling together doesn't interest me in the slightest so im unlikely to ever check this out. Death to royalty and all that. Doesn't help that you play through an scenario based on the show's finale in this game and it was very unexciting.
-Metal Armor Dragonar: seems extremely generic and boring. Has one of the most blatant Char clones to the point where he even has a Sayla clone! I kinda hated he was the only character Char really got paired up with in the whole game.
-Matchless Raijin-Oh: these characters didn't actually get to do much in the story so i didn't get much of an impression but idk looks like a cute series, great opening too. I feel a bit bad for these little primary school kids having to fight in an intergalactic war all of a sudden.

there was a meme idea i wrote once or twice back in like 2015-2016 where there's just this waiting room for original generations that all OG characters go to after their games are done, and they're just stuck there until they get into OGs
it's just a regular waiting room, but none of them can leave until they get introduced in OGs. a lot of them have been waiting in there for over a decade now.
#super robot wars#srw#personal#uh...i don't know who will appreciate seeing this#but i felt the urge to bring it up for no reason#when moon dwellers was announced i wrote everyone in the room freaking out because either they got in (J/GC)#or they didn't and now they're stuck waiting even LONGER for their OGs debut#the 4/F and 64 OGs are trapped in a closet with a sign that says ''NEVER EVER''#apparently when asked about the 64 OGs possibly appearing terada was just like ''no point since A OGs are better versions of them''#big oof#so anyway OG game announcement on the 21st? please??

June 3rd-June 9th, 2020 Reader Favorites Archive
The archive for the Reader Favorites chat that occurred from June 3rd, 2020 to June 9th, 2020. The chat focused on the following question:
From any webcomic, what side character is your favorite and why?
Shizamura 🌟 O Sarilho
Honestly, this may be a little premature, but I'm loving Gris so far in http://heirsoftheveil.fervorcraft.de/!! Sassy little fae really bringing up a different personality to the show In https://www.ghostjunksickness.com/ I really like Nowe and Sam.
In https://hookteethcomic.com/ I'm a big fan of Vayth and I'm very curious to know more about her
I also really like the First Lady in http://broken.spiderforest.com/, even tho we didn't spend much time with her but I'm sure we will in the future and I can't wait(edited)
spacerocketbunny
My heart will always soar for Franquelim from O Sarilho!! He has such a charming personality and a tight as hell aesthetic and symbolism that represents him throughout the story I'm really warming up to Fausta as well, while her personality is showing itself a little slower than the immediately flashy Franq, I'm really becoming endeared to her sweet demeanor and intrigued with her background and position in the story https://sarilho.net/en/
boogeymadam
Isaac from Cunning Fire!! Always a fan of a non-supernatural character snooping so into the affairs the otherwise-supernatural cast was trying to protect them from, and being competent at it. Isaac in particular is also such a sweet and determined goof, Every scene he's in I just want him to be happy and safe and get his answers. https://www.cunningfire.com/
Tantz Aerine (Without Moonlight)
I really like Chekhov from The Second Crimean War. He's such a powerhouse of fight and wit and yet 99% of the time he's a calm, mild mannered pacifist that prefers to talk things out. Love him. We're now during a sequence where we learn more of his past and that makes him even more awesome to my eyes! http://secondcrimeanwar.thecomicseries.com/comics/
sierrabravo (Hans Vogel is Dead)
ahh I really enjoy The Second Crimean War (weird phrase lol)! I think Bekir is my fav secondary character, he's cute and I feel like I spend a lot of time worrying about whether or not he's going to end up ok!!
also gotta give a shoutout to Kat from Gunnerkrigg Court, she's one of my favorite "best friend characters" of all time and I LOVE the complicated morality that her skill at robotics get her into. Also she's a great example of well-written queer characters in YA, which I always want more of. I've been reading GC since high school and highly recommend it to everyone if you haven't read it! https://www.gunnerkrigg.com/
RebelVampire
Electric Zebra from Super Galaxy Knights Deluxe R http://sgkdr.thecomicseries.com/comics/ because he believes in the power of love and music. Also because he's a general who somehow also dislikes the government so that makes him a fun character for me. Honestly hard for me to pick cause most of my favorite comics are ensemble casts so it's hard to categorize them as side characters.
chalcara [Nyx+Nyssa]
Zeetha and Bang from Girl Genius. I'm fond of murderous ladies it appears. Zeetha's one of the most interesting mentor character's I've ever seen, plus her arc didn't end in death. And Bang's Bang.
shadowhood (SunnyxRain)
-Mordecai Heller from Lackadaisy. He's a very straightlaced assassin...but there's something about seeing him freak out and make so many hilarious out of character expressions that gets me. Also that he's so important to the plot that when i find myself explaining Lackadaisy to people...I always mention him.
-Heath and Olive from Gourmet Hound. Heath is serious and it's very admirable to see him try so hard to overcome his mom's fame in the baking industry. As someone who wants to be a pastry chef one day I can relate a bit to his journey on becoming one. But what got me was how he has legitimate concerns and fears about being betrayed by a friend. The way his issue was portrayed instory...made him feel much more real and human for me. Being tired of waiting for a friend who left him, being betrayed....it struck a chord with me
Olive was also very relateable, because she portrays a side of culinary individuals that I don't think many people see as much. The fear of something wrong going in the kitchen, the pressure and stress involved is not something to discount. I've seen many of my classmates (myself included!) in chef school break down and have to calm down in the walk in freezer due to the stress involved. Leehama chose a good character to show this issue, because Olive is essentially someone who has to hold in her issues and pretend everything is fine. Of course.....that will backfire horribly, and I loved seeing the ramifications of that in a kitchen setting, particularly with someone whose motivations are relateable and likeable.

fics I won't write, number 1
lego movie au where gcbc knows his parents are master builders before everything goes down and they all go into hiding together because you absolutely cannot convince me that gcbc would have willingly worked with business if he knew it would put his parents at risk. gcbc joins the resistance, and all the master builders are kind of condescending about some rando who can't stick two bricks together hanging out there but then he takes out like an entire squad of robots on his own with nothing but a metal chair and heavy scowling and everyone's like. all right. that's fair. a few months in and people only question his loyalty once because the ensuing speech he makes is the most anyone's ever heard him say at once and it's simultaneously the most scathing and weirdly inspiring thing they've heard in a long time. people sometimes quote him when he's not around. gcbc is super bad at making friends, mostly because he's not trying and neither is anyone else. people think it's kind of weird that he only really hangs out with his parents, but they don't call him a momma's boy where he can hear because he might not be a master builder but he sure does have a right hook that he's not afraid to use. in between jobs, he keeps to himself, busies his hands with yarn or dough or a pencil, and listens to the chaos around him without comment. both gc and bc have a tendency to brush people off, so it takes an embarrassingly long time for people to realize he's actually two people. he runs information and supplies efficiently and does dangerous jobs for the master builders nobody else wants to do because if there's one thing he knows, it's that some things are worth more than his personal safety and it's not like he likes the master builders, because he really doesn't, but they're fighting business and business is trying to capture his parents and that's reason enough to help them and keep them safe. he gets hurt, of course he does, but when he's only got one thing to fight for, it makes these life or death decisions easy. they don't let him look for the piece of resistance. if anyone's going to be the special, it'll be a master builder. eventually the master builders realize that they don't know enough about business's movements. they're always a step behind, can only react to what business sends after them and they'll never win the war like that. they need a spy. gcbc is really the only choice. nobody knows about his links to master builders and he's got no building skills of his own and his loyalty is unquestionable. he doesn't like it, he doesn't know if he can do something this big, but it's what the resistance needs. so he goes in. it's easier than he expects because he doesn't need to fake his animosity against the master builders and he can fall in step with business's rhetoric like it's his own. the master builders have ignored him and used him for years now and he might be loyal to their cause, but there's a big difference between being loyal to someone and liking them. gc knows how to be cold and bc knows how to be ruthless, and together, they become the hammer that shapes the resistance. gcbc helps business capture the master builders by day and passes off information by night and he's good, too good at both, and even as the master builders start gaining ground, they can't help but wonder if gcbc's really as loyal to them as they thought he was. when he takes familiar faces down to interrogation, he doesn't apologize. he only has one thing to fight for, and it makes these decisions easy. this time, business doesn't have anyone to use against gcbc, he's made sure of it, holed himself up in his head alone with himself just so he can keep from dragging anyone down when he inevitably drowns. it's hard, and it means business can only apply pressure directly, and he does so with gusto. gcbc screams, far from where anyone can hear, and later looks at scars trailing down his arms and face and thinks that there may be things more important than his personal health, but he's not sure if he'll live long enough to see them. (they talk about him, the master builders. he's a legend, or maybe a cautionary tale. they talk about knit sweaters and baked cookies and someone who said inspiring words and would fight robots with nothing but bare fists they wonder if they really saw all that or if it was all a strange dream. they tell the recruits to never underestimate him, to run for their lives, because they may not know much about him, but they know he won't spare any of them. sometimes, they will lay awake at night and wonder if they regret setting such a monster on the world.) time passes and when gcbc finds the special, he knows right away that emmet's not a master builder. it makes him want to laugh and cry because of course he wouldn't be. the master builders will throw a fit and it's nothing more than they deserve, thinking that only a master builder could be important enough to save the world. he stays with emmet only long enough to tell him about the prophesy and then he hands him over to the resistance. he returns to business. he's tired, he hasn't seen his parents in years, and things are finally coming to an end. he's not there for the final confrontation. business finds out about the special too late, and he loses. the world is saved, the kragle is sealed forever, and everything is awesome or something approximating that. gcbc doesn't really care. he just wants to go home, and so he does. it takes him a few weeks to find his parents again in the mess that follows the final battle and the reunion is...not easy. gcbc's changed, he's been torn apart and put back together, and he's not even sure if he can remember what it's like to be with people again. people he loves, people he's fighting for. his parents see the scars, there's no way they don't, but they don't mention it when they pull him into a hug and hold him tightly. they're real, they're warm, and gcbc just sinks into their embrace and cries. you did it, they say. all those things you had to do and all those things business did to you. it must have been so hard. no, he responds, softly. it was easy. i did it for you.
#the lego movie#lego movie#fic ideas#fics i won't write#gcbc#fanfic#sometimes i think about how scary undying loyalty can be#and gcbc is nothing if not loyal#anyways#i wrote this in like#an hour and a half#instead of taking notes for genetics#jessepinwrites

Took me a whole month but i finally finished Super Robot Wars GC. It was a kinda fun game? Maybe a little too easy. I barely had to use tactics at all, though it stayed somewhat engaging with optimizing the ammount of exp and money obtained. The stages got pretty damn long in the second half but i didn't really mind.
The most dissapointing part was definetily the crossover writing. It seemed satisfied with having very basic and dull interactions between characters of different series and occasionally repeating the best bits from each show. I really hope other SRWs are better in this aspect.

Almost everyone in OGs: *has at least one relationship bonus with another character*
Touya: *doesn't*
Everyone else:
Everyone else: That's sad, Touya.
#super robot wars#srw#well al-van has lv 1 friendship with him#...except it's not mutual (meaning touya doesn't have it) so the point still stands#this is still funny to think about 4 years later#touya has literally no relationship bonuses#not even with the akatsuki twins who are supposed to be his school friends#the ONE person who has a relationship bonus with him is al-van and he doesn't even reciprocate#to be fair all the newcomers don't really have many relationship bonuses#the twins only have friendship lv 1 with their respective love interest from GC/XO (though there wasn't much between them in MD)#calvina only has relationship bonuses with al-van (yes plural: she has love lv 2 and rivalry lv 3)#but they have SOMETHING! touya has literally NOTHING!#why didn't touya have friendship lv 1 with the twins. you'd think they'd at least have that#are you really going to tell me that akimi and akemi made better friends with sally and sieg than touya?#sieg and sally have lv 1 friendship with vort and the dude isn't even playable. why doesn't touya have any relationship bonuses.#are you telling me it's all spent on him being a harem protagonist in the granteed? come on boy.

Tfw SRW:GC’s translation patch is actually pretty far in. 20 chapters! Latest update was on the 8th of last month. Too bad I can’t run Dolphin. Oh well. I’ll tag this under Moon Dwellers, since I’m pretty sure the majority of the SRW fandom doesn’t know anything about GC. :P http://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php/topic,16892.0.html
