Does anyone else like "pre-apocalyptic" as a genre? Like I love the calm before the storm, fiction where you're assured that the end of life as we know it is coming but get to live and breathe in the world before that end, seeing the raw uncertainty experienced and how humanity tries to cope with the oncoming end. I personally love near future sci-fi versions of this where civilization attempts to muster all the strength of its technology and hold it back with the Works of Man. Example of this vibe are Evangelion, the Final Station, and Interstellar (though the latter isn't a true apocalypse it gets pretty close). A less tech oriented example would be Children of Men. Am I alone here in liking this vibe?
