continued from here
It was a bad idea.
And if Sharon hadn’t been on hour fifty two of no sleep, she would’ve recognised it as a bad idea before she went ahead in doing the bad idea. But instead her mind was foggy with exhaustion, her muscles too wired to sleep and her common sense now just a distant memory. And when she heard Bucky tossing and turning in his bed obviously suffering from a night terror, her mind decided to wake him up.
Her weary tongue called his name multiple times, urging him to wake up. This was safe. If she had only kept calling his name until he woke up she would have been fine. But instead, she decided to touch him and shake him awake.
In the millisecond before Bucky awoke, common sense came crashing through into Sharon’s mind with a single phrase that was taught to her when she was in the army.
auribus teneo lupum
‘I hold a wolf by the ears’. It means that one is in a position where whether someone holds on or lets go, the outcome will still result in harm.
Sharon’s head slammed against the wall as Bucky awoke, his grip on her throat crushing her larynx. Suddenly she was awake.
“Bucky. Bucky. Bucky.” She gasped, trying to meet the man’s frantic eyes. She drove the palm of her hand over and over into the metal of his prosthetic forearm, not trying to forcibly release herself, she knew better than to try and fight him, but to try and bring him to his senses.
His grip was tight enough that when she tried to breathe his name, the J sound became stuck, only the word ‘-ames’ escaping her lips before suddenly she was dropped, her body falling to the floor in a heap.
She gasped in deep breaths, her hand moving to her throat to check for damage while her heart thudded away in her chest.
After a moment of trying to catch her breath, she finally spoke in a rasped voice.
“I’m. Sorry. Are you. Okay?”

It's not often that James returns to Wakanda, but he'd needed the trip after Steve... after Steve. It's peaceful here. Sharon showing up concerns him that perhaps his peace is about to be shattered. Still, tone and sigh are both soft. "What are you doing here?"
Five years.
Five years of her life had been lost in the blink of an eye, and yet she woke up in the same place that she had fallen, on the floor of her apartment, startling the new tenants who had been in the middle of lunch.
The CIA had recommended a therapy group for those that had been dusted and how to integrate themselves into the world again. Sharon had politely declined the initial meeting, though she kept the group details on a business card pinned to her fridge with a magnet. Instead she decided to talk and find those that she had been involved with prior to the snap. First she found Sam, the man hadn’t been difficult to locate, and through him she’d learnt of the losses of her friends.
Tony.
Nat.
Steve.
All three of the people she’d lost had a single connection besides her, a lone man that had apparently disappeared off of the face of the planet. Except he hadn’t. Thanks to Sam and her resources at the CIA she’d been able to locate Bucky in Wakanda and through no logical thought, she booked a plane flight to locate the man.
“I’m on holiday.” Sharon glanced around the serene landscape stretching out around them. “It’s beautiful. I can see why you came back.” Of course that didn’t explain why she was standing in front of him, but even she didn’t have an answer for that. Instead she moved to sit underneath a nearby tree, leaning her back against the bark with a vacant expression on her face.
“We won. But we still lost them.” She mused quietly, her fingers tapping against her kneecap that was drawn to her chest, her eyes looking up at Bucky.
“I’m sick of losing people. Aren’t you?”
