if it isn't obvious arthur and quinn have very different interpretations of their meeting arthur is like "fucking asshole im going to inconvenience you as revenge for not letting me kill myself" whilst quinn doesn't even remember saving his life and is like "wow we're friends and we talk so much yay"

the truth is that arthur would just talk at quinn whilst quinn would reply with hms and ohs and side eyes and sighs and to arthur this was proof quinn absolutely hates this, but quinn thinks they're having a normal human conversation and arthur is a really nice and interesting guy who brings him homemade food. he's sighing because he's having trouble with a screw or something.

eventually during their bonding period in the deadlands arthur is like "im really sorry for being so annoying btw" and quinn is "???" oh this is that self esteem thing they wrote about in the relationship book for love noobs "Why would you think that? you weren't annoying at all."

at this pont arthur already knows quinn is just really really socially inept and wasn't purposefully rude.

mooch has a teddy bear from tyler with a voice box of him saying he loves her and she plays it so much when they breakup that it stops working and she is heartbroken. she brings it to a build a bear where he got the bear originally and the workers are like “we can’t fix it, we’re sorry,” and she just has a wobbling lip and she’s like “oh okay.”

back to making kj a villain! mooch asks him to run by the mailroom for her and he sees this letter that is addressed to mooch and sees the initials T.D. on the envelope and it magically gets lost on the way up to mooch’s room.

luke always texts quinn for updates on mooch because she’s not answering messages a lot and quinn will lie and say she’s doing okay

jack knows mooch well. he sees through her lies. he comes to ohio on a roadie. and they go for lunch. and she’s broken up with tyler by this time. and he asks her about how she’s doing and she’s like “i’m okay.” and jack says “i would have thought you’d be better at lying… what’s going on?” and mooch breaks down

mooch heads girls muttering about how they are jealous of her because of trevor and trevor eats that shit up. he will walk into school and wrap an arm around her. or kiss her cheek every morning. or bring her a smoothie for breakfast.

Irish-American, John R. Shillaty is attacked and badly beaten by a mob in broad daylight in Austin, Texas.  He is Executive Secretary of the NAACP. He is escorted to the train by the mob and the sheriff

15 year old Francis Murphy, a Sinn Féin scout of Glan, County Clare is shot dead by British Soldiers.  He dies as a result of bullet wounds received while sitting by the fire reading a book.  The inquest into his death concludes that the murder was carried out by the military as revenge for the shooting of Constable Michael Murphy and Sergeant John O’Riordan at Ballyvraneen.

 24 August      

St Colman’s Cathedral, Cobh, is consecrated by the bishop of Cloyne, Robert Browne.  In attendance is the primate of all Ireland, Michael Logue, the archbishop of Cashel, John Harty and the archbishop of Tuam, Thomas Gilmartin.

Fannie Sellins (nee Mooney) witnesses guards beating Joseph Starzelski, a picketing miner from the Allegheny Coal and Coke Company, who is killed.  When she intervenes, deputies shoot and kill her with four bullets then a deputy uses a cudgel to fracture her skull.

28 August      

The amount of the national loan issued reaches £250,000.

30-31 August  

The Knoxville, Tennessee race riot begins after Maurice Mays (pictured above) is arrested for the murder of Mrs. Bertie Lindsey.  A 5,000 strong mob storm the county jail and free 16 white prisoners.  They also attack the African-American business district, where they fight against the district's black business owners, leaving at least seven dead and wounding more than 20 people.

An all-white jury takes 18 minutes to find Mr. Mays guilty of Mrs. Lindsey's death. He dies at age 35 in the electric chair in 1922, declaring his innocence to his dying breath.

NEW YORK | Bill Clinton, Smokey Robinson to speak at Franklin funeral

NEW YORK  — Former President Bill Clinton, Smokey Robinson, the Rev. Jesse Jackson and Cicely Tyson will be among the speakers at Aretha Franklin’s funeral next week.

Franklin’s rep, Gwendolyn Quinn, says other speakers will include former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, music mogul Clive Davis, the Rev. Al Sharpton, Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder and Bishop T.D. Jakes.

Clinton and the Queen of Soul were longtime friends. She sang at both of his inaugurations. Robinson and Franklin grew up together in Detroit.

Franklin died last Thursday of pancreatic cancer at the age of 76. Her funeral will be held in Detroit at Greater Grace Temple next Friday.

The Rev. Jasper Williams Jr. will deliver the eulogy. He is pastor of Salem Baptist Church in Atlanta.

for quinn; quinton grew up in an independent safecity that was known for being made up of solely fugitives/insurgency rebels (I haven't thought out much about the insurgencies enemies yet, so this might change drastically tbc). the city--fallenher, was once an industrial zone 70 years ago that manufactured mechs and machinery for the insurgency. his father was neglectful and often left him alone for weeks on end. he was known as the feral kid that wandered around stealing scraps and hiding away from sight. quinn had no interest in other people, but he had a fascination with the old mech shells left over across the city.

he had learnt by watching the rebels reassemble the mechs and reading all of the instruction manuals he could find around the factories. by the time the insurgency raided fallenher and cleared out all the inhabitants--quinn was able to make miniature robots that could perform basic tasks via remote control.

the fallenher raid had taken place when most of the rebels had left to attack a nearby insurgency site. the raid consisted of arresting the rebels that had stayed behind and relocating it's other residents. despite the cities population of rebels--there were a good portion of people who simply just lived there but were unable to leave. quinn was counted as one of them, and when given a choice on where he wanted to go, he chose to join the insurgency mecha team purely because that was the one thing he was interested in. he saw this as an opportunity to learn more of engineering and piloting mechs. he didn't know where his father was, but he really didn't care too much.

his time in the insurgency also revealed to him that he was intersex, he shrugged and moved on, unpreturbed.

quinn was revealed to be a prodigy at mecha, he excelled quickly graduated to enroll in his site's mech team. quinn's nature was never a sociable one, so he quickly became the aloof gifted recluse that many of his peers stayed away from or ignored. he knew very well that some of them even resented him out of envy--when he would come back to his dorm and find his clothes strewn everywhere or rotten food stuffed in his pillow--but he couldn't find himself caring. it was juvenile bullying. he had been through worse. they didn't dare touch his mech as intentional sabotage was punishable by jail time (if a mech goes haywire on the field, it could kill it's pilot)(his instructor greatly favoured him too, so they had never been brave enough to step up the harassment).

one day, someone from the medical team started talking to him whilst he was working on his mech.

the medic didn't cease trying to talk to him once he was brushed off like all the others. he kept coming back every single day and even greeted him when they passed by eachother. it should have annoyed quinn, but it confounded him. he didn't know if this was some new harassment technique or what, but he found that he..kind of looked forwards to it--a fact he realized when arthur the medic didn't show up one afternoon. quinn had been so distracted by that he broke the the lid to his mech's transmission fluid.

arthur had later shown up with food for him the next day, it was the first time someone had ever made food for quinn. it felt, nice. even though it was very burnt, he ate all of it--he had eaten way worse as a child anyways. arthur would keep bringing him food then, and talking with him, and look for him. for the first time in his life, quinn knew companionship. he had something other than mecha that he was interested in.

owns a mascot suit of Oim the bugpup. it was molding in a warehouse somewhere.

surprisingly, she seems to pair clothes together pretty well (when she isn't trying to be funny anyways)

unconsciously includes black/greys and red in her serious outfits to match her mask. seems to have endless heat tolerance and will wear flat out black on hot days.

is pretty masc in presentation but tends to go more fem for formal occasions. it makes them feel like they're unleashing their true form. like a power ranger.

arthur:

thin shirts all throughout the year because he's never cold.

similarly likes tacky button-ups, though he's outgrown his favourite ones (they've gone to nadia).

he likes his ears to be free so no hats, no matter how enticing the "fish fear me" ones are. average overall when it comes to outfitting.

has a few obscene meme graphic tees nadia and twince got for him one year as a joke but it went over his head so he will wear them as often as he does other clothes (much to neighbour's horror). no one tells him (quinn also doesn't understand them. twince is 7. palm never notices. chai cannot care enough. nadia wanted to see how long it could last.) until ven does.

has a good and cute fashion sense he likes to use on twince and quinn instead of himself.

ven:

alt, more scene (neons) than goth. is very good at dressing himself up but treats alt fashion more as an art performance costume thing than casual everyday wear.

prefers plain shirts and slacks for everyday and work.

experienced with makeup. is also very good at dressing other people up in general. shares clothes with palm.

all of his earrings are clip-ons and his eyes aren't pierced.

completely unbothered by what is considered "embarrassing" or "cringe" and will not bat an eye at anything anyone is wearing. the only aspect of fashion that's embarrassing to him is his own perception of whether or not he could pull something off. example: if you made him wear a maid dress, he would more be concerned about how he isn't fitting the vibe of the costume itself than the possible shame.

palm:

the hand me downs from her siblings/parents are plaid and striped. they're baggy too. as palm is the shortest member of her family.

clothes that she bought specifically are all cartoon prints, the nerdy stuff like the equivalent of "brony brofist" shirts.

shares clothes with ven. wears whatever is the most comfortable. ven picks out her serious outfits for her-- the striped work outfit she's represented in most of the time is his doing (done over a video call prior to ven's arrival to ingot street 09)

she does like how her work attire gets her "he/him"ed sometimes.

wears lensless glasses as a sort of protective mask when heading into a potentially stressful or new situation. she doesn't wear them at all in the firm or at home. similarly also did the same by making a mock up fringe with her fur.

one of her antennae is pierced. done during her teenage years. but it's very ticklish so she never wears any piercings.

twince:

wears what arthur dresses her as. she has outfits pre-prepped for her (hung up or laid out) as she's always bouncing to get moving immediately after waking up.

loves clowns and would dress as one every single day if she could. but full face paint everyday can't be good for a growing poodle and those itty bitty sized jumpsuit don't have tons of variety. also they're banned at her school since the incident at the annual school sports fair where twince became the reason for a classmate's clown phobia.

hair cannot be confined with hairties (unless she does it herself--which is never) and destroys scissors (they snap in half or come put with a bite taken out of them). she also hides things in it. it's also fireproof.

chai:

he owns 20 copies of the exact same work outfit for the firm. sometimes snaps a weapon harness over it if he needs to attend another assignment afterwards.

has one other jacket and cap that makes him look like a one-off antagonist character who only exists to grab a ladies purse and yell "get out of my way!" only to get downed by the cool protagonist.

literally did not own any other clothes aside from the two points listed above. until he reunited with reizo--which gave him a closet of teen reizo sized old hoodies and sweaters teenage he will wear begrudgingly at request.

he looks like he'd wear cunty outfits that say "i like to get dicked down by men" but he doesn't because he's terrible at dressing himself up and he's a loser idiot dumbass.
