The First Morning
@sdavid09’s Daily Writing Challenge
Character: Fíli
Fandom/Series: The Hobbit
Tale Teller’s Daily Writing Challenge
Prompt #1
Today is the first day of the challenge! So, tell us one of your character’s favorite firsts.
——
The First Morning
There have been many ‘firsts’ in Fíli’s life, some are good and some are bad. They all had an impact on his life in some way.
There was the first time he held his baby brother, the first time he forged his first weapon, his first training lesson, his first hunting trip, and so many other things.
Out of all of them, his favorite First was braiding his One’s hair.
He and Kíli had spent hours upon hours over many years designing and crafting beads and clasps with their symbols and markers. How they had practiced their braids and styles on each other until perfected, ready to be done when their One was finally found.
He remembers that first morning, the morning after their wedding. Waking to Mallory sleeping in his arms. He can recall the sleepy kisses and wandering hands, knows they woke Kíli up who joined him in pleasuring their Wife.
They eventually got up to wash and eat and (mostly) get dressed.
He can still feel the nervous excitement that he felt as they finally sat down to do their hair.
He vividly remembers pulling Mallory from Kíli’s grasp as he finished adding his braids into her hair. He thinks of her in between his legs, her back against his chest, his fingers gently running through her red curls. He recalls the giddy joyful feeling that bubbled inside of him as he began to braid her hair for the first time, braiding each braid that fell against his brothers own. Each one symbolizing that she was their wife, part of the royal family, and many other things.
He smiles at the memory of her hands in his own hair, Kíli’s larger hands wrapped around hers as he helps guide her in braiding Fíli’s hair.
He feels the rush of love recalling it all. Her soft voice as they talk, her hands in his as he helps her braid Kíli’s hair, their lips meeting again and again as the three fall back into bed together.
Even after all this time he stills feels all of those emotions every morning and every time he braids her hair, but nothing will be as powerful or wonderful as that first time.

The Navy Seal Makes a Splash
Pairing: Steve McGarrett x Reader
Word Count: 403
Summary: You thought you were going to have a relaxing birthday, instead Steve enjoys teasing you.
Written for: @goodthingshappenbingo / @sdavid09
Squares Filled: Cuddling / Romance
“I don’t want to move from this spot, I just want to be here with you,” You mumbled against Steve’s chest, you had been cuddled up for the last hour and it was nice to have the afternoon with the man you knew as the daredevil workaholic.
“It’s a good job, I turned my phone off and I’m not letting you go anywhere just yet. As much as I love my job, I love laying with you, just doing nothing.” You appreciated Steve’s word, sometimes you went for a long time without seeing each other. Each of your schedule’s didn’t really give you that one on one time that you wanted to spend with each other.
Eddie, though, had other ideas. Steve’s adorable dog jumped up in your lap, sniffing you before licking both of your faces. He had a habit of getting himself into trouble but quickly getting out of it with his cute little face, one that you couldn’t stay mad at.
“That lasted longer that I thought.” You giggled, untangling yourself from Steve. “You wanna go take a dip in the water?”
“Since you’re already up, might as well join the prettiest woman on the beach.” Steve smirked, throwing a towel on his deck chair, chasing after you, arms wrapping around your waist and pulling you under the water.
Choking on the way up, you pushed your hair out of your face before coughing and spluttering. When your breathing evened out again, you pushed the water over at Steve in his face, of course being a navy Seal, he remained unfazed by your retaliation. “That was uncalled for, especially on my birthday. You’re supposed to be nice to me.”
Steve pulled his lips into a faux pout, it was one that you loved so much but hated when he used it against you. “I’m supposed to nicer that now.” He smirked at his stupid joke, his hands finding your waist once more, pulling you against him.
“Yeah.” Before you could say anything else, Steve pulled your face up to his own, lips pressing firmly to yours, making you forget about your almost death experience.
“I love you, birthday girl.” You spent the next hour in the clear blue ocean, laughing and playing. It was the perfect day, one you would never wish to replace for the world, one that you had ingrained in your mind for the future to come.

30 in 30 Fanfiction Writing Challenge (Daily Writing Challenge)
I have been wanting to do another daily writing challenge, as I feel a lot of people really enjoy doing them, and I always enjoy reading the stories each day...but I wanted to do something new and creative. Thus, this challenge was born!!!
This will be like any other daily writing challenge where you will be tasked with writing one piece of fanfiction a day. It could be a full story, part of a multi-chapter story, a drabble, head canon, anything! The goal is just to write each and every day!
However, this year we are going to have a “twist” in the challenge. Instead of me sending out a prompt each and every day for you to use, you are going to have more creative control. Because instead of using a prompt...you are going to use different stories, fandoms, or characters--depending on the level of difficulty you would like to take on for the challenge! :D
This is going to be a special 30 in 30 Daily Writing Challenge!
If you want to learn more and how to sign-up for the challenge, click the “keep reading line” below. Otherwise, be sure to follow the hashtags below so you can read the amazing stories written by our different participating writers! :D
How to Participate in the Challenge:
To join the challenge, all you have to do is the following:
Make a Master List (a text post you save to link your stories to later) for the challenge. I will make a Master Post linking to each writer’s master list so people can find your stories and page easier. However, I am only allowed so many links per post, so this will help avoid those issues.
Send me an ASK (please not a message, because I lose those easily) letting me know you’re joining and the link to your Master List Post -- as well as let me know what “level of difficulty” you would like to try! (so I can start the Master Post).
Start writing on April 1st! :D Be sure to link each story you write to your Master List and to use the challenge hashtag (Tale Teller’s Daily Writing Challenge 2021) so others can see your stories as well.
When you link your post on your master list, it may help to list what fandom or character it is for too, just so your readers know!
Choose Your Level of Difficulty -- there are three ways you can participate in this challenge, each more difficult than the last. The Levels Are:
Normal Difficulty -- Write one story per day (no limits or stipulations on characters or fandoms)
Medium Difficulty -- Write one story per day -- but each day you need to write for A DIFFERENT CHARACTER! They can be in the same fandom, but the main character (MC) has to be different for each of your 30 stories.
HARD DIFFICULTY -- Write one story per day -- but each day you need to write for a DIFFERENT FANDOM. Yes, you read that right, for the hardest level of difficulty, you would be writing 30 stories, in 30 days, covering 30 fandoms! MAXIMUM EFFORT! XD
Get excited and spread the hype for the challenge!
Rules of Participating in the Challenge:
There really aren’t many “rules” per se, as I want to give you full creative control, but here are a couple things you will want to note:
Please tag warnings and spoilers. This is for your readers, please don’t have them reading something triggering without a warning or spoilers for their favorite movie/show without knowing it. You will also want to use the #Tale Teller’s Daily Writing Challenge 2021 hashtag!
Link all your stories on your Master List, so everyone following the challenge doesn’t miss a single one. It is my plan to reblog the Master Post (which will contain links to all of the master lists) every couple of days so people can find more stories to read, so be sure you update each day so no one misses any of your stories! :D
Support and cheer on other writers in the challenge. I really love the community challenges build, so let’s make this one extra special by cheering on everyone who is participating!
“Front Loading” and “Back Loading” (binge writing stories) are allowed -- just please be kind to yourself and take care of yourself! Make sure you sleep, eat, and get plenty of rest! ^^
HAVE FUN! This is supposed to be a fun challenge, so be sure you are enjoying it!
I hope you will consider participating in this challenge! I won’t have any “prizes” to give out for this one, sorry! But I do hope you find it fun and inspiring for your next writing project. I will plan to do special reblogs for those writers who do “Win the Challenge” (write 30 stories in 30 days).
Happy Writing!

Thranduil x reader
Prompt 50 - “I DIDN’T ASK FOR THIS! SO WHY ARE YOU TREATING ME LIKE I DID?!”
Word count 679
Today just couldn’t get any worse could it? You thought to yourself as you made your way through the kingdom leaving small droplets of water trailing behind you, “fucking dwarves, fucking orcs always something with them lot” you muttered to yourself as you looked up and saw you were approaching the throne room, passing the two guards you gave them a look letting them know you were in no mood for snippy comments on your appearance as you pushed the door open, stepped in and closed it behind you doing so you could feel the kings icy eyes on you as you stepped forward and stood at the bottom of the stairs, making a small puddle around yourself.
“What news do you bring me?” Thranduil asked looking down at you.
“My lord the dwarves escaped down the river, they were being trailed by a pack of orcs, we dealt with the orcs and Prince Legolas and Captain Tauriel are on the trail of the remaining orcs” you answered, not looking up at your king.
Hearing footsteps you knew the king had descended the stairs and soon enough you felt his presence behind you, as the hair on the back of your neck stood up and you glued your eyes to the floor, fighting the feeling to look up.
“Is there a reason why you are dripping water all over the floor?” Thranduil asked in an icy tone, telling you the king was not impressed.
“Yes and no my lord” you answered, seeing the king's shoes as he stood in front of you.
“Well what is it? How come you are standing in my throne room soaking wet?” Thranduil asked again.
“I fell in the river alright” You admitted.
“You fell into the river?” Thranduil repeated your words and you could sense the sarcasm in his voice.
Feeling your anger build you looked up at the king “I DIDN’T ASK FOR THIS! SO WHY ARE YOU TREATING ME LIKE I DID?!” You shouted and then regretted your actions, as you turned your eyes back to the floor.
Watching Thranduil’s hand you felt it under your chin as he lifted your head so your eyes could meet, you knew the other elves were jealous as he seemed to have a soft spot for you, and you could always get his favour in matters, you had always said it was down to the fact you did your job, connecting your eyes with his you saw the spark of mischief in his eyes.
“A skilled warrior like you, falling into the river, I would pay to see that” Thranduil said as his lips twisted into a smile.
“Don’t you dare laugh” you hissed at him.
Letting out a loud laugh Thranduil stepped back from you smirking pulling your hair from your back you collected some of the water in your hand and flicked it towards him as your own lips twisted into a smirk wetting them you cooling asked “would my king like a cuddle?” as you extended your arms out wide and saw him drop the smirk on his lips.
“You wouldn’t dare” Thranduil said as he watched you approaching.
“Oh I would, my lord” you said as you stepped closer and closer to him and soon enough you were chasing the king around the throne room, waiting for Thranduil to turn you turned your body around and managed to catch him off guard and sent the pair of you to the ground in a giggling mess, getting to his feet Thranduil extended his hand to help you up “lets go get you dried” he said as you took his hand and he pulled you to your feet.
“I have a better idea” you smirked making the king lift an eyebrow as you leaned in closer and whispered it into his ear making him step back and pick you up throwing you over his shoulder as you let out a giggle, you had been in a secret relationship with the king for almost a year now, and you always got your way.

Friendship & Lies
Author: @supernaturallymarvellous
Characters: Tony Stark x Reader
Summary: After his epic and brutal discovery in Siberia and his subsequent fight against Steve and Bucky
Word Count: 750
Warnings: Spoilers for Civil War
A/N: So I’ve been in a massive writing slump....just unable to write at all. But that semes to have resolved slightly so I’m picking up on my entries for the 52 Week Writing Challenge being hosted by @sdavid09. Tag Lists are open if anyone would like to be tagged for the rest of these fics.
Prompt: “I can’t prove anything, but I would have thought our friendship would have awarded me the courtesy of your trust.”
***************************************************************************************
The day Tony returns from Siberia is one that’s filled to the brim with tension. He’s battered, bruised and broken in both body and spirit. He went there, hunting for Steve and Bucky, in an attempt to make amends and bring closure to a difficult chapter in their lives. His intention had never been to cause any trouble but life never goes as smoothly or as easily as planned, and that had certainly been the situation here. Learning of Bucky’s involvement in the death of his parents had been a hard enough blow to handle but then finding out that Steve, someone he had thought of as a friend for many years, had known the truth the whole time – well, that was a step too far. Any last shred of trust or hope that had been left between them was broken…..as shattered as the remnants of the shield that the great Captain America had carried with him.
As soon as the jet touches down on top of the Tower, he’s out and staggering on weakened legs across the flight deck. He doesn’t even let the medical personnel touch him, forces his way past the throng of people gathered for the sole purpose of making sure that he’s not going to pass out or worse. He practically shoulder barges the doctors and security team out of the way in his haste to confront the only other person who might have had a clue as to what had occurred all those years ago…..Y/N.
She’s been in her quarters ever since Steve made the decision to sign the Accords. Unable to agree with his course of actions, Y/N cut herself off, effectively bringing an end to their three year relationship. It had hurt both of them but Y/N simply couldn’t reconcile herself to the fact that the man she loved would risk everything, including the potential safety of thousands of innocent lives, for a shot at redemption for his former best friend. Steve’s inability to even consider seeing things from her point of view had caused an irreversible split between them and now Y/N was alone, left with nothing more than memories and a handful of mementos of their intimacy which lay scattered across her room.
It’s late afternoon when her door flies off its hinges, crashing into the opposite wall with all the force of a hurricane behind it. She immediately jumps into action, her body reverting with ease to a familiar fighting stance. She relaxes slightly when the cause of the commotion is revealed to be Tony although when he keeps coming towards her with a ferocity she’s never seen before, she’s terrified. She’s backed against the wall as he moves closer to her, pieces of his armour falling onto the floor as he moves closer and closer…..close enough that Y/N can see the anger and fear intermingled within his eyes.
“Did you know?” His voice is harsh and strained, filled with more anguish that she has even thought possible. He repeats himself over and over again. “Did you know, Y/N? Did you know about it?”
Y/N knows what Tony’s talking about. Friday has already contacted her to let her know exactly what took place as her former lover and best friend battled each other in the frozen wilderness. In the time since the fight occurred, Y/N has trawled through the files and, after watching back the recordings from Tony’s various suit cams, has all the information she needs to know. Through her fear, albeit a fear that’s not deep set as she still trusts Tony more than anyone else in her life, she eases him gently towards the bed, forcing him to sit down as she begins to speak.
“I didn’t know. I’ve only just found out but I can’t prove that….I can’t prove anything, but I would have thought our friendship would have awarded me the courtesy of your trust.”
That’s all Tony needs to hear. Y/N can see his long-standing walls breaking down as he slides down onto the floor, tears starting to trail down his bloodied face. She moves to sit beside him, gently manoeuvring him so that she can hold him in her arms, showing him that he can trust her. Y/N can see the doctors gathering at the door but she waves them away. It’s not medical treatment that Tony needs right now – it’s friendship and that’s something Y/N knows they can provide for each other, even though their entire world has crumbled around them.

King of your heart
A/N: Just one more prompt and I’m back on track!! This is just a cute little blurb written in all haste and as all the other fics I’ve posted lately it’s not at all edited, but I hope someone finds joy between the words
Prompt: “This isn’t working, is it?”
Word count: 949
Warnings: None at all!
Loki Laufeyson x reader
It was finally here! The most wonderful time of the year had finally arrived!, yeah, right, what a load of crap that was. This part of the year has not been any different from the rest besides that it now is freezing cold and you need a million layers of clothing just to step out the door. Still, you prefer this weather to the inhuman heat waves washing in on the country every summer, in your own words ‘it was hot enough to get everyone roasted’, a pun that, mind you, against popular belief had been very well received.
Even if there were a lot of things with this holiday season causing you more problems than enjoyment, there is one thing that will bring a smile to your lips every time. Figure skating, or just skating in general, if there's ice involved you were in, simple as that. When a certain god sauntered in to your life, quite literally, you didn’t know of his chilly heritage. You had found out by accident one time during the cursed summertime a few months ago, and ever since you had loved him even more. It must have been fate, if there was such a thing out there, that is.
You had been laying the groundwork for the past few weeks now, you had been sucking up to him left and right, being overly sweet, baking him those cookies he loves so much despite them being a ‘midgardian miniature’ of whatever cookies they had back in his beloved Asgardian palace. Dating a literal prince had its pros and cons, mostly pros, but when it came to normal everyday chores such as laundry or cooking he was hopeless. But you loved him nevertheless. You wanted him to come ice skating with you tomorrow, you wanted to show him the only holiday activity worth trying. It would have been an easy feat if he wasn’t as stubborn as a donkey’s backside.
You approached him with caution, much like you would a scared animal. He sat in his usual spot by the window, feet propped up on a nearby table, a book in his lap lazily kept in place with two fingers and head relaxing against a Christmas pillow. Moreover, that pillow is one of the few Christmas decorations you allowed into your home, it reflected you holiday spirit perfectly, and quite frankly summed up Loki’s entire character in two simple words “Oh deer”. Both funny and useful, the perfect combination.
You stood still, silently watching him for a while, contemplating if this really was a good idea. Your nerves were all on edge and you made a mental note to never wear a shirt with cufflinks when trying to ask important questions. It was now or never. You had to get it out before you changed your mind and just walked away again. You started with a careful yet noticeable clearing of your throat to catch his attention. He didn’t look up from the old pages of parchment but you knew he was listening to you thanks to the slight rising of his right eyebrow.
“Loki, I was uh… I was wondering… If you, might, you don’t have to by any means, but it would make me very happy if yo-”
You had started to word vomit. Great. And you would have continued on with that if you hadn’t been stopped by a curious gaze sent your way accompanied with a loud thud as the book that he had previously been reading snapped shut. His feet were no longer resting on the table and his very regal, and to be honest, somewhat degrading position, told you that you now had his full attention.
“You’re stalling, my dear. What is it?”
It was a simple sentence, yet he managed to calm you down with so little. It amazed you what effects he had on you, but right now there was no time for such thoughts right now, you had a mission to accomplish. At least that’s what you kept on telling yourself.
“I just.. uhm… wanted to ask you if you wanted to come skating with me tomorrow?”
For a minute there you thought you’d just rambled on in front of a statue or something with how still he had become. He had clearly not expected that to be the ‘very important thing’ you wanted to ask him before. The clock ticked on and on and he didn’t move a muscle. Not. A. One. Maybe you broke him? He didn’t even blink for a solid three minutes before the silence finally got to you and you, once again, started to ramble in a futile attempt to save the situation.
“This isn’t working, is it? I tried to ask nicely, maybe I shouldn't have said anything, I will just go by myself tomorrow, really, there’s no problem at all I’ll eve-”
“Will you stop talking for a second, pet? I may have been surprised by your proposition at first, but seeing as it means so much to you I’ll gladly accompany you to this ‘ice skating’ thing you talk so fondly about.”
Now that was a welcomed surprise, not like last year when you got stuck up a turkey’s ass, but that’s a story for another time. Tomorrow you would get to show loki the real reason why you adored ice as much s you did, and who knows, maybe he will come to share this love with time. You just couldn’t wait for him to realize he was a king already. He was the king of your heart.

His - Fíli x reader
Let’s get ourselves some protective and jealous Fíli today. I decided to incorporate the first prompt of the Tale teller’s 52 week writing challenge into my story for Fíli appreciation week. I do hope you enjoy!!! <3
xoxo

His
Summary: Fíli is head over heels with a lady at court, and watches her during the victory feast in Erebor.
Tags: @theincaprincess @fizzyxcustard @soradragon @deepestfirefun Let me know if you want to be added to or removed from my taglist!
Warnings: Mild swearing. A bit of tension, some kissing.
‘Would you like some more ale, my lord?’ the maid asked.
Fíli was sitting at the high table, the drained cup the lass had been referring to still firmly in his grip. The great victory feast had been in full swing for the last few hours and it showed: the attendees were finally starting to get drunk and the servants were struggling to keep up with the demand for ale and meat.
After tragedy struck and Smaug had taken the great kingdom of Erebor, the hall of kings had waited patiently for more than a century for the return of its’ people. No one had expected to experience another feast in this magnificent room again, but then the impossible happened. Smaug was chased away from his unrightful throne and ultimately destroyed: his carcass would lie in the depths of the Long lake forever. As some discussed the possibility of fishing up the skull of the once mighty fire-drake and hang it in this very hall as their revenge, those who actually had been there simply wished the dragon would stay hidden below the waters.
It didn’t matter, it was all in the past now. The battle of the fives armies was over and king Thorin would be officially crowned in the next few days. But most of all, the grand hall was filled with laughter, music and lively chatter once again.
But none of that cheerfulness reached the golden prince, because he hadn’t been paying attention. As a matter of fact, he did not seem to be aware of anything around him, but one. His eyes were fixed somewhere in the hall. The prince wasn’t eating and barely drinking from his cup, as he kept looking in the same direction.
‘Prince Fíli?!’ the maid tried. She was getting fed up with waiting until the dwarf prince would finally respond to her. ‘Do you want me to refill your cup?’ ‘What?’ Fíli growled as he was snapped from his ponderings. ‘Ale?’ the lass repeated while swinging the carafe in front of her. ‘Oh, yeah.’ Fíli said absentmindedly, his thoughts already drifting away again. ‘I could use a refill.’
He did not see the girl huffing indignantly at his rudeness as she left and if he had, he probably would not have cared one bit. It was unlike Fíli to forget his manners, but tonight was different. Fíli, son of Durin, had experienced enough dalliances and short-lived affaires to know what was happening to him, but yet this time it all seemed so… different. His heart was hammering in his chest uncontrollably and his head was swimming with thoughts. There was a restlessness swirling through his body that made him want to bust a move before it was too late, but a crippling fear kept him glued to his chair. He could not trust on his usual charms this time, since in his current state of mind he was unable to pursue the ladies. Not that he would want that now anyway.
For he has had the pleasure of feeling and tasting her beauty and he wanted to have it again. And as she was sitting there a bit further along the hall, enjoying the festivities with her comrades, Fíli dared not to take his eyes of her, frightened that she would vaporize on the spot if he did. She was too good to be true. All his life he had wandered the earth without this mysterious concept of the One, but now he felt it through all the fibers of his very being. This was it, the real thing.
She was laughing at someone, the dwarf in question probably telling a joke. Fíli shifted in his chair and narrowed his eyes. He could not see the guy that clearly, but any male that was located within a few feet from her could be considered a threat. Her beauty was radiating, attracting suitors from all over the hall. So far, she had chuckled at their sometimes drunken attempts to woo her, but the handsome, joke telling lad across the table had managed to catch her attention every single time.
What was so special about him anyway? Fíli watched the lad’s dark manes and groaned. If she was into the burly, moody types even his uncle would have a much clearer shot at her love than he did himself.
But still, that would not explain what happened last night…
Oh mahal, last night.
The jolt in his stomach told him neither his body nor his mind had forgotten. In fact, he had been playing the scene over and over in his head, memorizing every curve, every movement. Every word they spoke. In final, he had to conclude that she was the embodiment of perfection, a goddess in dwarf form.
Fíli gritted his teeth when he noticed that the joke telling dwarf was winking. She giggled, shook her head and looked away. Her eyes flashed over at the high table and found the prince’s gaze. His heart skipped a beat. Just twenty four hours ago, they had been a lot closer to each other. He wished he could relive it once more. As for her, she bit her lip and gave him a small, knowing smile before focusing on the dwarf at her table again. Fíli inhaled sharply. Could that mean that she felt the same? Was the trying to say…?
Oh. No, it probably was a wild guess. She had continued talking animatedly with that joke telling lad once more. He probably had imagined the whole thing anyway…
‘Hey, idiot!’ Someone was jabbing at his arm, pulling him from his contemplations. ‘What now?!’ he snapped. Kíli was crouching next to him, smiling. ‘Nice to see you too, bro.’ he smirked. ‘What do you want?’ Fíli asked suspiciously. He knew his brother all too well and when those dark puppy eyes were glistering mischievously, it always meant trouble was coming.
A lot of trouble.
The whole mountain better prepare and hide away until the worst was over. ‘Nothing special…’ his brother shrugged. ‘I just noticed you were ogling that pretty lass over there for hours at an end, so I figured I should ask you what’s going on.
This was just great. If even his brother, the world’s biggest ignorant oaf had noticed, he could assume that the whole hall by now knew of his lovesick behavior.
‘It’s nothing.’ Nevertheless, he could try to divert the predator anyway. ‘I wouldn’t call those smoldering looks you’ve been giving her all evening nothing…’ Kíli grinned. ‘’Did you fuck her already?’ ‘Don’t be so ridiculous.’ Fíli objected, hoping his face wouldn’t betray him. ‘Would Tauriel approve if you talked about her this way?’ ‘Certainly not.’ The youngest Durin agreed. ‘But she’s not within earshot, so I’ll be safe.’ ‘I still don’t know how you got her to fall in love with you.’ Fíli muttered. ‘I’m not sure either. But we were talking about you and your new fling.’ ‘There’s nothing to tell.’ Fíli ensured his brother. ‘And that’s the end of it.’ ‘You sure you’re not going to pursue her love?’ Kíli inquired. ‘Because it looks like she’s got a lot of suitors anyway…’
Fíli looked up to the spot she had been occupying for the last hours, only to see her disappearing through the doors of the hall with none other than the joke telling lad. Her h/c hair was bouncing on her shoulders, the green dress complementing her delicious curves.
No, not today. He had just found her for Mahal’s sake!
Fíli smacked down his cup on the table, the ale splattering on the wooden surface. He moved abruptly, the chair he had been sitting in shrieking loudly as he stood up. His ears were ringing, the vein in his temple pulsating. Somewhere in the distance he heard his brother cursing him.
But Fíli didn’t give a fuck that the other guests at the high table were staring at him as he stormed away from the hall. He did not care that in the process he almost ran over three servants who were carrying heavy plates with food. It didn’t even occur to him to apologize. He was seeing red, hot raging fury spreading through his veins and corrupting his thoughts.
He could handle a lot and he would have understood if she did not want to put a name on it yet. In the end she was his now. She could talk with anyone she wanted, but leaving with someone else…
That was it.
He could not believe that she really intended to get nice and cozy with another guy just hours after he had laid with her. She owed him at least an explanation, and it better be a sensible one.
But by the time he reached the entrance of the hall, she and her new lover were gone. The prince stormed the staircase towards the rooms he knew her family was staying in. His boots were thumping on the stone steps as he ascended the stairs towards her family’s quarters. Fíli was beside himself. Had he simply served as a rebound? Would he have to settle with the memories of a mind-blowing one night stand? He had given her his everything, and he got nothing to show for it.
No, he could not stand this any longer. He had to know. She was going to tell him the truth.
So when he slammed the door that connected the corridor with the staircase shut and saw her walking towards his left, he took a sprint to catch up with her. The joke telling suitor was nowhere to be seen, which probably was a good thing.
‘Y/N! HOLD ON!’ he snapped. She obliged, turning swiftly to face her golden lion. ‘Fíli?’ she began with a surprised tone, but before she could say anything more the prince grabbed her arm and pushed her against the wall.
Fíli had wanted to shout at her, to show her how much she had hurt him, but now she finally was in his reach again, there was only one sensible thing left to do. Their lips met in a earth-shattering kiss that made his head spin. Her body was pressed against his own and he could feel her heart beating in her chest. Her hands were clawing in his tunic, pulling him closer. His own arms had slipped around her bodice, already tugging the lace strings on the back.
But suddenly he remembered the very reason he had chased her. He pulled back, earning a protesting moan. His breathing came in harsh pants, and he had to take a moment to recover.
‘Do I mean this little to you?’ he finally managed to say. ‘Are you this superficial?!’ ‘What do you mean?’ she murmured, a frown appearing on her face. ‘Don’t play innocent!’ he retorted, anger flaring up in his abdomen. ‘You know EXACTLY what I’m talking about!’
The expression on her face changed as she did the math. Standing up straight, she met his glare. The answer was written in her eyes.
And in that instant, he knew.
Shit.
She returned his feelings and he had fucked this up royally. But how could she if she was seeing other males on the side? Fíli didn’t understand and that made him even more livid. He wasn’t going to share her with anyone, she was his and his alone.
‘Fíli, don’t be ridiculous.’ She declared. Her demeanor was controlled and an amused smile was displayed on her lips, but the fire in her e/c eyes was unmistakable. ‘Me?’ he scoffed. ‘You’re the one who seems to be quite busy!’ ‘Fíli, stop it!’ she countered. ‘You need to calm down NOW!’ ‘No. You explain yourself.’ He demanded. ‘First you’re acting like a little dwarfling.’ She scolded. ‘I’m a what now?!’ he dared, narrowing his eyes. ‘Secondly.’ she went on as if there wasn’t one enraged dwarf prince standing before her. ‘That, prince Fíli, was my brother…’

Kili x reader
prompt: The answer was written in her eyes
Warnings: Angst with a happy end
Tale Teller´s 52 week writing challenge masterlist
Anyway, enjoy^^ ~~~~~~~
The answer was written in your eyes. You knew what had to be done, you knew it was the only way for the others to escape. You couldn't and didn't want to risk the lives of the others. It was the only way. And he knew it. He saw it in your eyes clear as day, shaking his head in denial as a soft broken whisper left his lips, making the others turn their heads, wanting to know what's going on.
"No..."
Taking a step forward to get to you, he didn't notice when or how his uncle grabbed his shoulder, pulling him back. He reached out towards you in a desperate attempt to catch you and pull you into his embrace. And protect you from the undeniable fate that was about to engulf you in an abyss. An abyss of pain, horror and uncertainty.
Kili let out a scream, which was muted by a hand and a harsh shush from someone. He watched with tears in his eyes while you were abducted. Taken away to who knows where and he couldn't do anything.
You were afraid, he saw it in your eyes, but you still put up a brave front. Perhaps to reassure everyone, everything will be fine. But Kili knows you put up a brave front to convince yourself everything will be okay, even though you know it's a lie.
He broke when you mouthed three little words to him with a quivering smile before you were knocked out. Three little words that would've brightened his entire day, made butterfly's flutter inside his stomach, made his heart do summersaults and burst from his chest, made his whole body feel flushed and loved, three little words he never heard from your mouth, yet craved for without knowing.
'I love you.'
Three little words that would've made him so happy, if...they weren't said in these conditions.
Fire surged through Kili's veins, fueling his blood with searing hot rage. He struggled against his uncle and brothers' hold on him, shouting and roaring against the hand, pushing against his mouth. Hands from different angles grabbed him as he thrashed in their hold. Hushed concerned commands were thrown about the cave.
Kili watched as the orcs fled into the forest, like cowards. From what exactly he didn't know, not that he cared anyway. His eyes never wavered from your limp body in the filthy hands - he so badly, wished to cut off, of an orc as it made you gradually vanish in the forest, away from him, ripped from a safe place full of camaraderie, you learned to call home, ever since the journey started.
The moment you disappeared from the brown-haired dwarf's view, was the exact same moment when Kili felt a sudden pain invading his body from within his heart. Spreading down his legs and up to his neck, shoulders and arms. The fire within his veins ceased to exist, leaving behind tired protesting limbs.
He broke out of the barricade of hands that held him in place, running out of the steep cave, scanning the area, trying to find a trace of you or the scum who caught you. Nothing but paw prints of the wargs and hoove prints of horses. Kili sunk to the ground, his legs giving in, unable to carry the sudden weight and pain within his chest A scream full of agony and fury cut through the air before he penetrated the dirt with his bare fists.
"Kili! Kee, stop! Stop, that's not going to bring Y/N back!" Fili grabbed his brothers' shoulder with a trembling hand. Kili glanced towards his brother, wanting to give him a piece of his mind, but the comments that were about to leave his lips were silenced when he saw the sorrowful pain in his brothers' eyes. His brother was hurting just as much as he did. Kili glanced behind him, everyone was staring at him or at the path the orcs took, with a distant look in their eyes.
Thorin studied the path with stern eyes for a moment before marching forwards, the others looked at him with bewildered looks. "Thorin, where are you going?" Bilbo asked, hesitantly going after him, "isn't it obvious? We're going!" Thorin replied, moving past a baffled Fili and Kili who looked like he was about to murder someone.
"You're going to leave Y/N behind!!? AFTER EVERYTHING!!??" Kili yelled, glaring at his uncle's back, not believing what Thorin said. Thorin turned with a frown on his face. "Who said anything about leaving her?"
*(*)*(*)*
The company had followed the tracks towards the orcs camp, Bilbo had scouted out the area, telling them that the wargs were nowhere to be seen. He guessed that some orcs took them to report what they found. Bilbo said you were held captive inside a deep hole with two orcs keeping guard.
"Alright, Bilbo said there are about twenty orcs around this camp. You all know the plan?" Thorin asked the others nodded. "Good, to your positions, Fili Kili with me." The brothers followed after Thorin, sneaking past the bushes as quietly as they could, Bilbo would distract the two orcs by the pit while Thorin, Fili and Kili got you out of the hole. The others would distract and kill the orcs by the fire.
Everything went how it was supposed to... until a loud roaring sound of a horn was heard. And hell broke loose. Kili rushed in between the fighting men and jumped over the falling corpses of orcs, trying to get to the pit where you were supposedly being held imprisoned, Fili followed close behind him.
"Y/N?" Kili called out as he peered into the pit covered with wooden bars. "Kili...?" You questioned, looking up to see the beautiful brown-haired prince above you. "And Fili!" The golden prince's head appeared above the bars, next to Kili.
"Y/N, stay there! We're going to get you out!"
"It's not like I can go anywhere, but okay." You muttered quietly, watching as the two brothers got rid of the thin wooden bars. Kili jumped into the pit as soon as the bars were removed. He rushed towards you and scooping you in his arms.
"Are you alright? Did they hurt you? I swear if they did!" Kili rambled, cradling your face in his hands with the uttermost delicacy, his brown eyes examined your face, looking for any kind of injuries. He paused when he found the badly looking cut right next to your right eye. You saw how Kili eyes became darker, full of guilt and anger, he softly stroked the skin next to your wound with his thumb, he looked sad.
Kili snatched you into a hug, pressing his head against your shoulder as he shook.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry you had to go through all this! This is my fault, I should've protected you better." He whispered, his voice cracking as he held you tighter. You wanted to tell him everything was fine he but cut you off.
"Y/N, by everything above, I swear I won't let anyone touch you or harm you in any way ever again! I promise with my entire being that I will protect you. Properly this time, I promise you, my ghisvashel."
you were stunned, eyes wide as you tried to make sense of what he just said. Kili. The adorable and sweet dwarven prince. The one who you got a big crush on for ages, called you his treasure...Surely you were dreaming. You let out an involuntary squeak.
"Even though I absolutely love that you finally proclaimed your undying love for each other, I really do, but could this I don't know, wait a moment "after" we got out of here without orcs surrounding us!?" Fili shouted.
"And brother! I can see from here that Y/N is alright!! Don't tell me you're turning into Dori now."
You and Kili let out a snort, "ready kick some arse, my ghisvashel?" He reached out his hand for you to take, with a mischievous grin. You laughed, taking his hand. "Always, my dear prince under the mountain."
Fili lifted Kili and you out of the pit before giving you one of his daggers, "can't fight without a weapon now, can we?" He winked, before raising his hands up in a mock surrender when you gave him a playful glare.
The three of you rushed into the battle, slashing down the few remaining orcs with the others.
You stabbed the dagger into the head of an orc before turning around, watching as Kili took down an orc that was close by. He stayed close to you, striking down any orc that came too close for his liking. You gave him a quick smile before glancing behind him, an orc was sneaking up behind him without him knowing.
"Kili! Duck!" you shouted Kili reacted immediately, ducking as you threw your dagger at the orc behind him. "Right in the eye!" You called out in victory as the dagger dug into the orc's left eye. Kili looked behind him with wide eyes.
"You sure know how to get yourself in sticky situations now, don't you, dear?" You said smugly.
"What can I say." Kili grinned, "I was never meant to fight on my own, amrâlimê~"

Just Do the Thing
Pairing: Alpha!Dean x Omega!Reader
Word Count: 1055
Summary: You’re waiting for Dean at the bar but someone beats him to it. Dean’s not to happy when he shows up.
Warnings: Smut, Claiming, unwanted attention from an asshole alpha.
Written for @sdavid09 ’s 2020 bingo challenge filling the square ‘one shot’
Written for: @spngenrebingo / @spnabobingo / @spnkinkbingo / @spnquotebingo / @/spnonewordbingo
Squares filled: a/b/o / (honey/blackberries/bourbon) / omegaverse / “ you’re in a relationship with me. Everything will never be okay!” / hickey
“You wanna dance, sweet cheeks?”
Great, another Alpha that wasn’t your own was hitting on you. The Alpha’s scent makes you gag into your drink. The scent is much too unpleasant, too overpowering for you to bear.
“No thanks, I’m waiting for someone actually. I think it would be best if you just left.” You tried telling him but the Alpha was persistent and not in the charming way either.
“Oh, you’re a feisty omega, I see.” The Alpha licked his chops and crossed his arms over his chest, looking you up and down as if you were a piece of meat. There was no way that this guy was getting laid tonight. The bartender’s voice broke your concentration from your suddenly very interesting glass of alcohol.
“Beat it, Randy, she’s not interested. Go away or go home.”
Before the Alpha finally sauntered away, he made sure to spread his scent over you, rubbing his body over yours, like it was his to claim, like you were his. It was disgusting how Alpha’s like him behaved, even more so that they got away with it.
Your heart was stammering in your chest, your body shivering at the uncomfortability that the Alpha had caused. It wasn’t until the bartender had snapped his fingers and a burly guy had stormed over to you. Quickly, he resolved the situation by removing him from the bar. Rolling your eyes, you shook your head in annoyance and finished off the remainder of your drink.
Pulling out your wallet, you paid for your drink and told him to keep the change. You made quick work of getting out of your seat and into the safety of the ladies bathroom. It was horrible that any bathroom became a kind of sanctuary.
The counter was a great place to slump on, at this point you really hated Alpha’s.
After a breather and a calmer chest, you hated this feeling but you had to go back out just to get out of this place and even though Randy had been thrown out he still gave you the creeps.
Once you were outside, the air was harsh against your warm skin and for once you welcomed it. It was better than the overwhelming stench of Alpha. But then it all faded away.
Your Alpha’s scent crowded your nose before he came into view. The soft scent of honey and bourbon soothing you before he got to you and took a sniff. The scent of blueberries had come and gone. He was none too pleased at the smell of another Alpha on you.
Dean’s nostrils flared, his smile disappearing. There was no way that this was going unanswered, he didn’t even need you to tell him who it was or what he did. Your Alpha stormed back to the entrance of the bar and sniffed out the culprit, nowhere to be seen until the bodyguard stopped the man from coming in.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” Dean challenged the other Alpha, getting into his face and staring him down. “You’re obscenely brave to mess with another Alpha’s Omega.”
Your eyes widened when you heard Dean laugh at the man. There was no laugh that anyone desired to hear, it was a murderous laugh, like he was ready to rip this guy’s throat out if he even thought about you. If you didn’t intervene then the other Alpha would be dean or close to it and you didn’t want a death being traced back to the two of you.
*
“You know this wouldn’t keep happening if you just did the thing.” You said nonchalantly, as you began folding your laundry.
“This ‘thing’ you speak of is dangerous. You’re in a relationship with me. Everything will never be okay! If I do it you are bound to me forever. There is no going back.”
“You selfish butthole.” You threw the tee you had in your hand angrily back into the laundry basket. “If I had that thing it would be much less dangerous. Shit like that wouldn’t happen if you just claim me as your own.”
Dean scoffed, an eyebrow raised in skepticism. He looked up from his book, he really didn’t want to put you in danger but he knew that you had a point. Knew you were right about being safer by being claimed. But there was still the nagging feeling in the back of his mind that he shouldn’t do the job that he had put a target on every single person that he came into contact with. It would only increase the chance of you being put in even more danger if you were claimed. You could have been used as leverage and the thought was just about enough to make him feral. He knew what he had to do, and he was going to give you what you needed.
Dean’s snarled, he forgot about his book, tossing it to a place he didn’t care for. The laundry basket was forgotten and you were whisked away onto the bed. He tore into your clothes, lips attacking your neck, teeth aggressively scratching against the skin.
The Alpha pulled away, shoving his pants down his legs, cock in hand, pumping it a few times. He yanked your pants and underwear from your body, pushing your legs apart so you could accommodate him. His free hand wrapping around your throat when he thrusted into you.
You groaned as your Alpha filled you to the hilt. “Alpha, yes.” You pulled him down, pressing your lips to his, desperate to feel him against every part of you.
“Is this what you wanted, Omega? You want to be fucked?” Dean accentuated his words with a thrust of his hips, his skin smacking against yours as he fucked himself into you. “You want me to claim you? Is that what you want, ‘mega?”
Whining and whimpering, you clung on to Dean. “Yes, Alpha. Want you to claim me, Want you to own me. I’m yours. Just claim me. That's all I want.”
Dean grunted, his knot growing inside, when he was about to come, he bit down on your neck. Only sinking his teeth into your flesh when he came inside of you, he licked over the new abrasion on your neck, somehow healing it.
“Now I’m yours.”

Worth it
Word count: 1.7K
Pairing: Dean X Castiel, Coffee shop AU
Warnings: Fluffy and cute!
Square filled: Ship
Summary: Dean Winchester owns the beloved coffee shop in town, and he loves that his life is predictable, until a certain blue eyed man walks into his shop and his life.
A/N: This is my first entry for the @sdavid09‘s Tale Teller’s 2020 Bingo Challenge. Please let me know what you think!
If there was one thing that could be said about Dean Winchester with absolute certainty, it was that he loved making his customers happy. If you visited his coffee shop, you left satisfied and appreciated. This was why his little coffee shop was so loved by everyone who visited. The coffee was always good, but so was the morning after being greeted by him.
Dean knew everyone in the little town and everyone knew him. Here, he lived his life with satisfaction and without many surprises. He liked it that way, too.
That was true until on Saturday, 20th of August, when the guy in the Trench coat walked in.
Even if Dean hadn’t immediately known that he was new to this place, the man’s awkward mannerism would have been enough to point it out.
He glanced around the shop and then walked to the counter, holding his hands clumsily at his side, as if he didn’t know what to do with them.
“A coffee to go please?” His voice was deep and low pitched. It was funny that Dean even noticed it, since he was awestruck looking into his deep blue eyes. It was a stunning color. He could take a swim in that, he thought to himself, embarrassed.
“What would you like?” Dean managed, forcing himself to concentrate and not be flustered.
“Just black,” the man smiled nervously. “I don’t know much about all these fancy names.”
Dean controlled his urge to laugh. He personally did believe that the long and ridiculous coffee names sounded better on exotic plants in botanical gardens.
“What name shall I put on the cup?”
“Oh.” The man looked startled to be asked such an obvious question. “Castiel.”
“I’ll be right back with you, sir.”
Dean decided to get Castiel his favourite brew. Barely anyone asked for it; he just kept it on the pot for himself, to unwind at the end of the day.
“Here you go!” Dean handed him the cup.
Castiel smiled at him gratefully. “Thank you for not making me go through the hundred options. I’m new here, and this is the first coffee shop I found.”
“Don’t worry about it.” Dean was secretly glad that his shop was at the centre of the town’s main square.
Castiel waved at him before leaving.
For the rest of the day Dean found himself humming and smiling for no particular reason.
He looked up expectantly each time the door opened the next day. Each time, when it turned out to be someone other than Castiel, he felt a small pang of disappointment.
An hour before the closing time, after Dean had given up hopes of ever seeing him again in his life, the bell at the door rang and Castiel stepped in, wet and annoyed at the rain pouring outside.
His face did break into a smile at the sight of Dean, and Dean found himself hoping against hope.
“That had to be the best cup of coffee I’ve ever tasted in my life,” Castiel said, running his hands through his wet hair. “What did you put in it?”
There were a lot of corny things Dean could have said, he settled for just a smile. “If I tell you, you won’t keep coming back here.”
“I don’t think you need to worry about that,” Cas said. “I’m not going anywhere anytime soon.”
Soon the whole town was buzzing about this real estate developer who had come in to scope the place, with his rough voice and ocean eyes; who wanted to turn the town into something altogether new. What better place to exchange gossip than town’s favourite coffee shop?
For most part, Dean didn’t comment on anyone’s opinion, just provided them with a sympathetic ear. From what he had heard so far, the people weren’t exactly opposed to the development. Just wary. And who could blame them for not wanting to trust a stranger after being a closed community for such a long time.
Personally, Dean didn’t believe that Castiel had any intentions of selling the whole town out. He didn’t look the sort. But what did Dean know? Maybe it wasn’t his brain, just his love-struck heart that was constructing all his opinions.
“Here you go,” Dean handed Castiel his coffee to go on his twenty-sixth day. Yes, Dean remembered the number of days. It was all very pathetic.
Castiel grinned at the name. “This says Cas on it!”
“You don’t like it?” Dean asked, scratching the back of his neck.
“It’s nothing like that,” he said. “I’ve just never had anyone call me that.”
That was weird. What sort of people had he surrounded himself with, who couldn’t catch the obvious nickname?
“You can call me, Cas, though,” he said quickly. “I like it.”
“Alright, then Cas,” Dean said, smirking slowly. “You have a good day.”
Cas waved and headed out the door.
“What was that?”
It was Charlie. One of Dean’s regulars at the shop and his closest friend outside of it.
“Nothing,” he muttered, turning away so she wouldn’t spot the blood rising up to his cheeks. “We were just chatting.”
“That’s not chatting,” she wiggled her eyebrows. “Where I come from, it’s called flirting.”
“I don’t even know if he’s interested,” Dean huffed. No point keeping it from her. She would sniff out the barely concealed crush anyway.
Charlie reached out to ruffle his hair. “And you won’t if you don’t ask.”
Later that night, Dean was cleaning up after the last customer had left, when Cas came in. His hair was dishevelled, as if he had run his fingers through it repeatedly and his shirt was unbuttoned at the top. It quickened Dean’s heartbeat to look at him.
“Are you closed? I’m so sorry for coming in this late.” He looked dejected. “But I didn't know where else to go.”
“C’mon in,” Dean said, sliding a chair towards him. “Is everything okay?”
Cas bit his lip. “I don’t know what I’m doing,” he said, agitated. “I don’t think any of my ideas are welcome here. The town folks don’t even want to listen to me. Maybe I should just give up.”
“That’s just plain stupid.”
Cas looked up, eyes startled.
“Look,” Dean said. “I’ve lived here all my life. Sure the people are stubborn as hell, but they aren’t idiots. They’ll see a good scheme if you keep at it. Are you trying to dupe them?”
The shocked look on Cas’s face was almost comical. “God, no. I would never.”
“Then you just have to convince them that.”
Dean wasn’t sure if he was making any headway with this handsome man. Cas’s eyes were like an open book and they didn’t look very convinced right now.
“This is a small town,” Dean tried. “These guys have all grown up together. They might have a hard time accepting outsiders, but give them time, they’ll come around.”
“You really think so?” The hope in his voice was almost desperate.
“Sure do.”
Cas placed his hand over Dean’s. “Thank you, truly.”
Dean could barely string the words together without fumbling over the contact of their fingers. “Don’t mention it, man.”
He watched over the next few weeks as town folk were slowly intrigued and then interested in Cas’s plan. He wasn’t out to demolish their houses and heritage like they had initially thought he was. In fact, the new town planning scheme would ensure more income and profit for everyone, including a small residential settlement in a property that was otherwise completely wasted.
In about a month's time, Cas had suddenly become everyone’s favourite. Dean was happy for him, of course, but it did put a damper on his plans to ask him out. Afterall, Cas had better company now and he was busier than before.
“You’re going to be a mooning single man forever if you keep this shit up.” Charlie put her hands up. “I’m just saying.”
Dean sighed. “It’s not the right time.”
“There’s no such thing,” she retaliated, picking up her latte. “And you’re just stalling at this point.”
No, I’m not, Dean wanted to say. He didn’t, though.
“All I’m saying is- if you saw the way he looked at you when you weren’t looking…” Charlie blew him a kiss and left for a table.
Cas was bright eyed today as he stepped forward for his drink and Dean’s heart skipped a beat. “The usual?” he asked.
“Yeah… Dean, wait a second.” Cas made sure that he wasn’t holding up the line. “I wanted to thank you for everything you’ve done for me.”
What?
“You’ve been the only friend I had here. Listening to me and giving me advice.”
“You don’t have to thank me for it.” He really did have the most beautiful eyes.
“It’s not just that.... Dean?”
Dean looked up. “Yeah?”
Cas seemed to hesitate. “It’s nothing…”
Dean poured the brew in the cup and put on the lid. There was a slight tremble to his fingers and a ‘now or never’ feeling in his gut as he clutched the sharpie.
“Thank you!” Cas said, taking the cup, a regretful smile on his face.
Dean followed Cas’s figure with eager eyes, when Cas stopped at the door. He turned slowly on the spot, then stared at Dean with wide eyes.
“Do you really mean this?” He asked, holding out the cup.
Instead of his name, the side of the cup read, ‘Will you go out with me?’
Dean’s heart was pounding against his ribs. “I do.”
“Yes, yes!” Cas exulted a bit wildly, “I’ve been meaning to ask since day one. I just didn’t know you were interested.”
“It translates into- both of you are really dumb,” Charlie supplied. There was a loud cheer from everyone present and Dean looked around surprised.
“We’ve been waiting for this for weeks!” Said another regular. When Dean eyed her, she jabbed him in the arm. “Everyone but the two of you knew.”
There was a lot of blushing and a hurried, ‘I’ll see you in the evening’ from Cas, before he left, forgetting his coffee altogether. As for Dean, he had never waited for an evening with so much eagerness.
The next morning, waking up in Cas’s arms, he would know that he had all been worth it.

Sacred Light
A/N: I have a hopeful heart so Erik is alive and redeemed. I also didn’t proofread cause I was trying to get all the thoughts out. Hope yawl like. Sidenote: life hit me like a runaway train literally the first day of this challenge so I’m mad behind now. Sorrrrryyyyyyyyy. I will write and post when I can.
Summary: When the Jabari rejoined Wakandan society, it would seem as if Bast was intent on keeping the tribes joined. M’Baku succeeds in capturing the heart and soul of Wakanda’s most sought after hidden light. Part storm, part flower, and some kind of wild woman, Qaqamba Bejide Achebe - Ramonda’s orphaned niece who grew up alongside the Udaku’s, yet as much out of the spotlight as possible - blooms under the affections of Hanuman’s chosen chief. There is a prophecy tied to the Achebe name - their daughters are said to be blessed by every goddess with a light and love like no other, something late King T’Chaka knew to be true - a prophecy that makes them as much of a target as their light shines. And she, is the last of their line with the gift, with the brightest light since the line began. Can M’Baku protect such a sacred light?
Warning: some violence, mentions of murder/death
Translations (via google translate):
nsọ ìhè - sacred light
umanyano oloyikayo - the sacred light union
It was the night of the joining festival, to commemorate the joining of both the Jabari and the Lost Tribes back into Wakandan society. N’Jadaka was out of rehab and somewhat integrating into his new home, having been pardoned from creating a civil war due to winning the Waterfall Duel which was his birthright. He stuck close to Shuri until M’baku arrived and Shuri ditched them both. Little did those two know, they would soon be walking into an ancient battle for the right of a sacred light.
------
Earlier:
A frightening chill ran through Qaqambe as soon as Queen Mother and King T’Challa declared the beginning of the ball of nations. He was here. The man from her nightmares.
“Shuri, get aunt Ramonda quickly. They’re here,” she practically screamed into her kimoyo beads.
------
“Please! She’s still a child, let her grow into her own like her sister did.” Qaqambe’s mother, Sade cried.
“She bleeds, that is growth enough for me to pluck my long awaited bud.” Adrian said.
“13 is not long enough! I beg of you, let me keep her for a little while longer! She deserves to be her own woman.” Sade said.
“Need I remind you of the outcome last time your family denied me my light?” he asked.
Sade vehemently shook her head and sobbed.
Adrian crouched down and spoke into Sade’s ear and said, “I have no quarrels getting rid of you to get to her. There is no one else left to keep her from me.”
Sade raised her head to look him in the eye and yelled her declaration, “That is what you think. She’s long gone and she will find her light keeper before you ever get the chance to lay a hand on her! You just wait, they will be the most formidable warrior on this continent, unwavering in their stand to be the shield of her light.” She laughed hysterically, scared of her certain death yet finding comfort in her dream of a fulfilled daughter with her destined to be.
Adrian stood up and sighed, straightening his unwavering cuffs.
“How unfortunate, I’d hoped to keep her from being orphaned…” he shrugged, “...have it your way.”
Adrian shot Sade in the head twice.
“Now you’re dead and I have to search all of creation for her. Such a pitiful sight, you could’ve been my mother had you ignored destiny and walked into the arms of fate. Now destiny’s got you dead.”
-------
Now:
Shuri rushed into her lab to find a frazzled Qaqambe pacing a hole into her floors.
“Mother is keeping an eye out at the party, if you stop your pacing you can help us find him much faster.” Shuri said.
“Find who?” N’Jadaka asked, startling both young women into head butting each other.
Shuri said, “Ow! Why are you sneaking around, cousin? Now you’ve caused not one, but two concussions at one of the most inopportune moments!”
N’Jadaka said, “It’s you who was sneaking around lil bit, we just followed you.”
“We?” Qaqambe asked as she locked eyes with M’Bkau, tilting her head back to take in his full glory as he and N’Jadaka walked up to Shuri’s station.
Suddenly, Qaqambe was no longer worried about her impending fate, for it seemed destiny had arrived in the nick of time.
“I don’t believe I’ve had the pleasure of such a rare gem,” M’Baku said as he grasped Qaqambe’s hand and kissed the back of it.
“I-” Qaqambe was out of breath and words, unable to stop her body from responding to what she could only assume was what her ma and aunt told her about power of light keepers. She felt as if an inferno was lit the moment his lips touched her hand and spread to her entire body.
“M’Baku, Qambe. Qambe, M’Baku. Introductions made. Cousin, take him back to the party, we have urgent business to discuss,” Shuri rushed out, trying to guide the boys back to oblivion and Qaqambe back to their task.
M’Baku easily escaped her hold and ended up in front of Qaqambe again. “Whatever it is that is troubling you, let me help. And don’t you dare try to lie, I can see your light dimming in the face of darkness”
Qaqambe looked to Shuri for help, but her gaze was just as quickly pulled back to M’Baku, like a magnet. “Aunt Ramonda made us promise not to tell anyone outside the Dora what’s happening.”
“It sounds like he already knows with that last declaration,” Shuri mumbled.
“Just trust that it’ll help not hurt to tell us little one,” M’Baku tried again.
“I can show you better than I can tell you and it’s getting hard to hold it all in anyway,” Qaqambe said.
“Qambe no!” Shuri yelled as Qaqambe rolled her neck, opened her arms, and let loose the reigns on her gift.
Suddenly, lights of various colors burst from her, like an aurora light show escaping from her every pore. When she looked into M’Baku’s eyes it was like a supernova was activated, Qaqambe’s light erupted in a large flash before dimming and folding back into herself.
M’Baku, in awe, whispered, “nsọ ìhè, it’s real.”
-------
Meanwhile, Adrian was 75% certain that his little light was here in Wakanda when he arrived for the festival. He had spent the last decade tracking down Sade’s twin sister, Monda, who had disappeared with her light keeper around the same time Sade did with hers. Using records from before his birth to track down that who did not wish to be found presented as damn near impossible. Damn near.
Turns out that she changed her first name and secured a different last name by marrying. Too bad she married a man who’s responsibilities would put her in the spotlight. Thanks to his father and uncle’s drawings as well as the news of a newly opened Wakanda, he found her and had all the info he needed to infiltrate the party. Qaqambe’s light show gave him the confirmation and motivation he needed.
Slipping from the party virtually unnoticed was easy enough. It was figuring out his way through these halls to find the source of that flash oc light that was going to prove difficult. There were Dora Milaje stationed at the end of every corridor.
He didn’t need to worry since being so close to snuffing out Qaqmbe’s light seemed to strengthen his opposing power of darkness. Adrian slipped past the Dora with ease, able to become one with the shadows of the halls, letting them lead him to Shuri’s lab.
-----
“Aye! Who the fuck are you and what you doing so far from the party?” N’Jadaka yelled at an instantaneously appeared Adrian. Shuri had notified Queen Ramonda and the Dora while putting on her gauntlets and then pointed them at the intruder while M’Baku gently eased Qambe behind him. N’Jadaka picked up Shuri’s nearby disc blades and took up a similar stance to Shuri.
Adrian smirked, breathing in the fear his sudden appearance created. “Ahhhhhhh, it has been a long time since I’ve smelled such purity ready to be stripped.”
M’Baku growled deep in chest, reacting instead of thinking.
“Why don’t you come on out from behind this beast? Don’t you want to get acquainted with your betrothed?” Adrian said.
“My late mother and aunt told me of the forced betrothal alliance! You have no real claim to me,” Qaqambe said with tears in her eyes and voice.
Adrian spoke an unknown language, opened his hand and clutched into a fist. Qaqambe fell to the floor holding her throat as if she was choking. He said, “you will come with me, or I will do that to those you love,” and then he released her to gasp for breath.
M’Baku dropped to his knees beside Qaqambe and held her close. “We will fight him for your freedom, do not worry about us, you won’t have to go with him. I swear by Hanuman’s name, he won’t get your light.”
N’Jadaka and Shuri took a step forward as well as the Dora Milaje that was easing up behind him, but Adrian repeated the mantra and motion. Everyone except M’Baku and Qaqambe fell to the floor gasping for air.
A flash of confusion and fear flitted across Adrian’s face, which was long enough for M’Baku to charge at him. His hold on everyone broke as soon as he made contact, tackling Adrian to the ground like linebacker was his job title. When he wrapped his arm around Adrian’s neck and held him in place by his legs, Adrian started to go limp unable to combat such pressure and force without the use of his powers.
Qaqambe couldn’t let M’Baku take on such a burden as taking a life, especially not on her behalf. “M’Baku, no! Let him live. Do not stoop to his level.”
He loosened his hold, but didn’t let go completely, knowing that someone as conniving as Adrian would take her kindness for weakness and try to use it against them.
“Well what shall we do with him then? I won’t give him another opportunity to harm you.” M’Baku said.
Queen Ramonda walked in with her guards on her tail. “We’ll take away his chances of claiming her. M’Baku?”
“Yes, Queen mother?” he responded.
“Would I be wrong to assume that you are familiar with umanyano oloyikayo?” she asked.
M’Baku said, “No you wouldn’t. And if your next question is whether or not I am willing to participate in it with your niece, the answer is that I would be honored to be her light keeper...” M’Baku locked eyes with Qambe, “...if she’ll have me?”
Ramonda looked to Qaqambe who couldn’t stop crying watching their exchange. She nodded her head vehemently.
Ramonda signaled the Dora and Ayo stepped forward to handcuff and neutralize Adrian, allowing M’Baku to release him and make his way back to Qambe. N’Jadaka and Shuri stood down when he was secure.
Ramonda said, “All you have to do is promise to be her light keeper in your heart and mind as well as out loud, like a prayer, and you seal it with a kiss to her forehead.”
Adrian struggled uselessly against his restraints and guards. “No! She’s mine!”
M’Baku barked his signature Jabari grunt, silencing the interloper. He pulled Qambe to him by her hands until they were flushed against one another. He enveloped her in his arms, resting his hands at the base of her back and rested his forehead against hers, both their eyes closing in recognition of the sanctity of their last minute coupling. Once he spoke the prayer internally and externally, he sealed the union just as Ramonda had instructed. Qaqambe’s head tilted back, letting loose a wail of beautiful pain. Her light burst from her third eye first before it poured from her mouth as well until she collapsed into M’Baku’s arms with her light dancing around her like an aura.
“What in the 5th element just happened?” N’Jadaka asked.
“Much more than you were ever supposed to see nephew,” Ramonda said as she linked her arms with Shuri and N’Jadaka.
“Is Be gonna be okay?” he asked.
Ramonda looked back to the new couple as M’Baku trailed behind the group, refusing to let his eyes leave Qambe’s face for too long.
Ramona smirked and said, “She’s going to be just fine now.”

Walking through the castle your mind was turning on the many tasks you had to complete before the visiting lords arrived in two days everyone in Mirkwood was doing overtime, cooking food, cleaning the kingdom, collecting wines from Laketown this meeting has been months in the making and it was going to be one of the biggest meeting of elven lords in history, and Thranduil was the elf to do it, of course you knew Thranduil wasn’t happy about it, normally Lord Elrond would host such a meeting and one where he could send Legolas to, but this time it was Thranduil who had to host it, and you were on your way to give him an unexpected problem.
Sitting in his study Thranduil was reading the speech you had helped him write for this meeting, turning the paper over and over again in his hands, he started to get lost in his thoughts, for years he watched you grow, watched how you had to overcome the challenges of being a half human, half elf in his kingdom, you had became one of his closest friends and you were more trustworthy than his generals, Thranduil cared about your opinion, and if he was being honest with himself he was glad you got lost in his woods all those years ago and it happened to be on a night where he was only in the woods looking for Legolas after an argument broke out between them, one small question had started a shouting match, and hours searching for his son, but finding you.
….
A travelling wizard had visited the kingdom and asked permission from Thranduil to have the old fortress as his own, Thranduil did not trust this wizard, so permission wasn’t granted and he was told to leave immediately, passing Legolas Thranduil watched as the wizard bent down to his son whispered a few words and rose with a smirk, as Legolas looked up at him like he was just told ancient secrets, but in fact he had told the young prince about the other side and how some people can talk to others who were no longer there, then later that night Thranduil had passed his son room and heard him talking, slowly pushing the door open Thranduil saw Legolas sitting inside a circle of candles talking out loud, fully entering the room Thranduil opened his mouth to ask what was going on, but stopped when he heard Legolas ask “MOMMY? HOW DID YOU AND DADDY MEET?” That was the question that had started the fight and sent Legolas jumping out of his window onto the trees and into the forest at night making Thranduil roll his eyes as he had to follow his son.
….
A knock on the door pulled him from his memory, letting out a sigh Thranduil placed his speech on the desk and rose to his feet, walking towards the door he reached out with his hand and took a hold of the handle pulling the door open.
“Yes?” Thranduil murmured as he opened the door.
“My lord, I bring you an update on the process of the kingdom” you spoke nervously as you knew Thranduil would hate what you needed to show and tell him.
Seeing it was you Thranduil’s lips twisted into a small smile before he wet his lips and asked “Are we on time for the meeting?”
“We are my lord, but there is a problem” You said as you lowered your eyes to the ground in hopes Thranduil would not let his anger out on you.
Raising his eyebrow Thranduil asked “Problem?”
“It would be best if you saw it with your own eyes, my lord” You spoke turning your eyes back up to his and saw as he nodded, stepping back a few paces you waited for him to exit his room before he looked at you again and you had realised you hadn’t told him where this problem was, wetting your lips you spoke “we are going to the kitchens” before you lowered your eyes again and followed Thranduil.
….
Glancing down at you Thranduil started to wonder why you seemed to be tense, you had never really been tense in his presents before hand, and you certainly liked to get your opinions across often talking back to him on matters you believed in, qualities a future queen should have Thranduil thought to himself, ”is everything ok?” Thranduil heard himself asking.
Lost in your own thoughts you were twisting the small necklace around in your fingers, the only thing you had of your family, your half elf side granted you immorality but you had lost your family many years ago, It was old, a token from a life that seemed to be ages ago, but it didn’t matter. They would carry it until their death, Thranduil cleared his throat as you looked to the King.
“(Y/n) is everything ok?” He asked again.
“Yes my lord, everything is fine, thank you” You answered a little too fast for Thranduil’s liking, now sensing something was seriously wrong.
Before Thranduil had a chance to ask again you both had rounded the corner and his eyes saw what the problem was, the whole of the kitchen was black and it looked like the ovens had exploded, turning his eyes over the mess Thranduil felt his blood starting to boil with anger, the cooks had said to him they would be able to cook all the food in a matter of days, not the weeks he had planned out, and he stupidly believed them, and now it would take months to get the ovens fixed and this place cleaned up and the meeting was happening in the next two.
“What happened?” Thranduil barked towards the two cooks who slowly started to hide themselves behind you.
“The ovens just exploded my lord, there was nothing we could do, my lord” one of the cooks muttered, clinging onto you like a scared child, as the other cook nodded her head.
“My lord, I was….” You had started before you jumped in shock at Thranduil’s outburst.
“TELL ME AGAIN, WHAT HAPPENED, BUT THIS TIME LEAVE OUT THE LIES” Thranduil had shouted making the two cooks scream in fear and explaining how the ovens just exploded, and there was nothing they could do, sending them away you said you would talking to the King and calm him down.
Walking back and forth Thranduil’s face showed what mood he was in “Thranduil, they speak the truth, I was here when it happened the ovens just caught fire” you said as you watched him.
“The meeting is in two days, the lords will be touring my kingdom, and what can I show them? A KITCHEN THAT DOESN’T EVEN WORK!” Thranduil shouted at you.
“THEN CLEAN IT!” You shouted back, holding your ground.
“I AM A KING” Thranduil barked at you staring you down.
“Oh I am sorry, THEN CLEAN IT, YOUR MAJESTY” you shouted again before turning on your heels flicking your hair as you left Thranduil standing there, starting after you wondering what the hell just happened.
….
Emptying the last of the dirty water in the bucket Thranduil looked at the kitchen seeing it looking brand new as he just spent the whole night cleaning it, after your outburst at him, he would have gotten the cooks to do it, but he knew you would have sent them to the back up kitchen to finish the food for the meeting, and he knew you would not let this drop, leaving the bucket at the side of the sink Thranduil turned and headed to his chambers to get some sleep as the lords would be arriving tomorrow and he hopped he could clear the air with you beforehand but his exhaustion over took him as he realized, it was finally done.

A little sarchotic
A/N: Here we have it, week 15 of the year long challenge. I just wanted to say that this is inspired a lot by my many hours spent on pinterest so sorry in advance. Also Since I’m participating in another writing challenge starting on Friday my fics are going to be more of short imagines than oneshots because I’m working on school too so sorry if the fics to come in November aren’t up to the same quality!
Prompt: “ Your sarcasm is not only unnecessary, but unwanted.”
Word count: 1119
Warnings: swearing and bad writing.
Loki Laufeyson x reader
Today had to be the worst day in your life. It had been many years since you had had a bad day reaching this level of fuck yous, if you’d counted correctly, there had been a total of fifty seven fuck yous uttered before lunch. That has to be a new record, well, you hoped it was at least because managing to live through this day has to come with some sort of reward. It was very rare for you to admit to having a bad day and usually you wouldn’t swear this much, but honestly, this day had had it coming.
The first sign that this day would go down the drain was when your alarm didn’t go off in the morning making you late for work. In your hurry to get out of the door as soon as possible and minimize the lateness you had gotten attacked by the cereal box, taken a milk shower, run out of clean clothes to wear and as if that hadn’t been enough, your hairdryer had tried to kill you when you’d tried to use it. And this was all before eight AM. It had really been a rotten day.
After finally arriving at work, only fifteen minutes late thank you very much, you just had to run into Kevin. I think we all have that one coworker that we just wished could go up and quit, or at least stay out of the way for the entirety of the shift. The bastard had managed to corner you in the common room as you were preparing for Mr.Stark’s latest charity event. Oh yeah, you worked for none other than Tony Stark, the world famous billionaire, playboy and philanthropist, as he liked to introduce himself. Enough of that, back to Kevin.
Nothing good ever came from this guy, he never helped with any of the work, just sliding along on the hard labour you poured into your assignments and then claiming he did at least half of it. More often than not he took all the credit if you were to be honest, but you never complained, just avoiding him to the best of your ability. Usually he was the one arriving late, leave it to today to make him on time just the day you happened to be a few minutes late.
As usual he used all the pet names in the book, trespassed on your personal space by the mile, tried asking you out with the worst pick-up lines in history and, never. Stopped. Talking. But when you finally got rid of him you couldn’t help but let out a frustrated mumble as you went to continue with your decorating.
“I’ve met a lot of pricks in my life, but that guy is a fucking cactus”
You had thought you were alone in the room but a low chuckle both startled you and proved you otherwise. Looking in the direction from where the ear pleasing sound had come from you found a tall, lean man with raven hair and dressed in the most intriguing garments that fitted his person in all the right places. Loki. You had never really talked to him, just seeing him around the tower reading as you run around trying to complete one of Mr.stark’s commands after the other. Standing before him you should probably feel embarrassed of what you’d just said or be afraid of him in general, to your surprise though, you were neither. Well, you thought, have I already spoken my mind there's no reason to stop now.
“Yeah. I just said that. Welcome to my mind, you may want to buckle up.”
At that he chuckled again. At least my bad day turned out to be amusing to someone. The statement followed by a somewhat awkward silence, he just stood on the opposite side of the room and observed my every move.It felt unnerving, and had it not been for him moving over to the kitchen area and letting his eyes roam freely over a fruit bowl instead you may actually have considered to fling yourself out the window. Your day couldn’t get worse anyway.
Loki moved with the grace of a royal, which isn't that weird considering that he was one. He looked like he inspected each and every fruit in the grande bowl before picking up an apple. One thing that startled you though was that he offered it to you instead of eating it himself. “apple?” he asked while extending his arm holding the apple in your direction with such a good poker face you couldn’t help but wonder if you just imagined him asking.
“Thanks, but I’m not hungry, and I doubt an apple can keep Kevin out of the room so, please, enjoy it yourself”
You kinda thought that would be it of your brief little conversation, but he surprised you yet again. He took a bite from his apple and started his way over to your half of the room before slouching against the armrest of one of the many couches. After yet another minute of silence he answered you.
“You know... An apple a day can keep anyone away. You just have to throw it hard enough”
Now it was your turn to chuckle, well, more like snorting, but, you know. Had the Loki just engaged in a conversation with you? and cracked a joke no less! but you still couldn’t help but feel a bit irritated over your otherwise bad day’s attempt to lighten the mood. You liked Loki, sure. But you preferred not to have him laugh at your expense and fill your head with unseemly ideas, though, throwing an apple at kevin would be very satisfying indeed.
“Your sarcasm is not only unnecessary, but unwanted.”
No later had the last word left your mouth before he replied. You guessed he wasn’t referred to as silver tongue for nothing.
“Says the girl I have listened to muttering sarcastic comments under her breath all morning”
How long had he been in the room exactly? And how had you not noticed him earlier?
“I’m not sarcastic, it's in my nature you see, my friends call me a sarchotic: When you’re so sarcastic, people aren’t sure whether you’re joking or if you’re just plain crazy.”
At that he chuckled again. It was a sound you could get used to. Well, you had to, because that had been the day you and Loki met but it wasn’t the end of your story, no.
