i was and am absolutely sick and floored that i couldn’t find a single drag queen jamie headcanon or design. i, frankly, absolutely despise designing things, especially fashion, so i grit my teeth and went into agony to deliver this concept.

seriously, how can you not look at this kid and go “a DRAAAG QUEEN???” anyways…here’s my design notes

if i’m referring to jamie in his drag persona, i’ll be using she/her pronouns as is customary with drag queens. and forgive me for any historical or chinese errors; i cannot read or write chinese i can only speak it, and my buddy vinnie stopped answering my questions after a while.

tentative drag name: xiao long bao—yun and yang are known as the white dragon (bai long) and blue dragon (lan long) respectively, but jamie’s title is a pun: “dragon” or “long” is the title, but the entire word “xiao long bao” jsut means soup dumpling. and that’s fitting to me as a nickname for jamie, but imo, it’s not a good drag name. it’s cute and it’s fitting, but it’s not vogue, it’s not a performance name. PLEASE GIVE ME IDEAS IM BEGGING YOU

jamie really seems to like having chinese inspirations in his normalwear, so it made sense to me to have his drag persona be very inspired by hanfu (i believe this is uhhh tang dynasty; the one focused on very ornate patterns with the cross-body robes and emphasis on a waistline; though normally every chinese character pulls from song-dynasty tradition). since i’m not very imaginative, this look was pulled straight from Guangzong drag queen Yuhua Hamasaki

in that traditional chinese hairstyle, jamie has 4 loops in the back with the crown and 4 major pieces of clothing, and with every swig, the loop gets untied and a piece of clothing gets taken off (numbered in order of taken off) the top of the clothes is a zhiju (2, 直裾), dark purple with a reddish iridescent pattern, with a the red xiapei (霞帔) scarf on top. it’s tied with a “horse face skirt”—mamianqun (1, 马面裙) —giving that very long dress/skirt sillohette. underneath that is a jinru (3, 晋襦), another cross-body but shorter robe that’s red and hides the typical drag queen bodysuit (4) that she can then breakdance in.

i debated the logistics of breakdancing in drag heels, but turns out elektra fence has done it on drag race before so. i don’t need to justify its plausibility.

the other two designs are kind of jokes; i’ve (against my will) been forced to see that darkstalkers felicia jamie mod, and i think it’d be a really cool if this actually was a drag thing of his, especially with my hc that yang kind of treats jamie like a beloved stray cat. and felicia’s a performer and singer; i’m sure he could do it. i did adapt some things from felicia’s design; instead of an actual tail (or even a prop one)—which could fuck up jamie’s breakdancing routine—she ties her hair at the end, where it’s dyed white to act as a “tail.” i also hope you enjoy the paw high heel concepts i came up with.

i like jttw, it’s probably my favorite legend of all time and i blame sun wukong for 40% of my personality. but quan yin is absolute fucking mother, and we must pay tribute, so like with his usual routine, jamie strips and reveals the lotus dress underneath her robes.

yun and yang are surprisingly supportive of jamie’s drag hobby, and they’re willing to participate in performances or just show up to support; hence, i think they open up the quan yin act with a fight between sun wukong (yun) and the liu er mihou (yang) before jamie comes in and breaks up the fight by distinguishing the two. the reason for yang’s pensive expression is that, because sun wukong and liu er mihou look exactly alike, then yang has to look like yun, something he despises. would require heavy convincing, but i think he’d eventually budge.

i think jamie’s drag attitude (and attitude in general) reminds me a lot of wesley snipes—an actor typically in hypermasculine action films, who played a very flamboyant drag queen. i’m referencing his role as noxemma jackson in “to wong foo” of course; everything about snipes as noxemma absolutely reeks of jamie, and i could see this being a major inspiration and influence for him

i thought a bit about jamie on rupaul’s drag race, and i concluded that he would fucking hate it. drag queens are viscous, and jamie’s good at quipping insults back, but he’s also used to being able to throw hands afterwards. i can imagine he’d say things like “even the most aggressive, dangerous street fighter cannot match the viciousness of these girls.” i also think he would not like rupaul because rupaul is racist and the judges don’t like cultural performances.

ah yes. the lesbian fucking love drag queens. drag in general—they show the fuck up. jamie in drag would summon every dyke with a 50 mile radius immediately, tips and drinks in hand to be given.

anyways, someone please tell me i’m not insane for this idea that is totally canon, peer reviewed, no notes.

Xie Chuyi

Chuyi is very protective of you. The only people who matter to him are you and his younger brother. He treats you almost like he treats his brother, but in a more romantic way. He spoils you, treats you like a princess. He is also observant, so he notices the little things about you.

Xie Yuzhi

Yuzhi is very overprotective of you, almost hostile towards anyone who even looks at you the wrong way. This man probably loves cooking, but is probably fairly horrible at it. Li Ling has definitely lied to him, saying it was delicious, when it actually murdered his taste buds

He totally sets up all sorts of movie nights, and game nights for the Union. He takes suggestions on what games to play and what movies to watch as well, always happy to try new things!

He totally chills with Ife and watches action movies with her if no one else is free. He’s the one to come to if you can’t find anyone else to spend time with. He's happy to help!

On missions he’s very quick to come up with a plan and always feels fairly guilty if it doesn’t turn out well. But he gets a lot of reassurance that it wasn’t his fault

He frequently texts Yun, asking questions, telling him about his day. Just trying to talk to him. Yun usually doesn’t answer, but he appreciates it

Like all missions for the Esper Union, there is a certain level of risk one must realize that they have to accept. Tang Xuan was no exception to this risk. While he normally wasn't the one having to deal with any sort of injuries (despite his excitable nature, he knew when to be careful), there were times where he too ended up having to make a trip to the medical tent on site to get treatment from whoever had accompanied them.

And unfortunately for him, he was a bit more injured than what he would have been happy with. (It was after Yun had left the Union. Not that he would have admitted it, but Xuan was certainly not completely at his best. Distracted? Totally.) Which was how he ended up with blood on his temple, and his foot giving a searing pain anytime he put pressure on it. So getting to the medical tent was a bit more of a struggle than what he would have liked.

He had known you were a part of this mission as well, but seeing as how you had your own responsibilities, the esper wasn't expecting to see you so soon. Your expression shocked but also worried for him. Having confided in you with what had happened with his brother but still not deciding to take a break from the Union, as the miramon certainly wouldn't take breaks for him either, your concern practically doubled-no, tripled.

What he wasn't expecting however, was one of your arms going underneath his knees, and the other behind his back as you had lifted him into your arms, keeping him close to yourself. Despite his slightly woozy state, Xuan feels a rush of heat on his face. Stammering that he didn't need to be carried only for you to insist otherwise and keep going along. The fact that you had cared enough to do so, even though it was a little embarrassing, warmed his heart just a bit. Once the embarrassment settles, he’s happy to be carried by you, laughter most likely caused by adrenaline (and maybe a little bit of embarrassment).

Contrary to his friend, a certain long haired and rambunctious young man has a slightly different reaction. Li Ling's own prideful nature, probably wouldn't realize he has to go to see someone for an injury unless he's almost dying. (Just kidding, but it's definitely one of those "It's my injury stay out of it." moments.) He sees that his strength is far above that of either miramon or Shadow Decree members, so how could they hurt him of all people? Plus he’s just that good that he wouldn’t get distracted, right?

Wrong. Even despite his skill as an Esper, he wasn’t infallible. Li Ling’s still a human after all. So when he’s unexpectedly attacked, a simple patrol didn’t warrant his attention as much as other work did, he unfortunately let his judgement slip just this once. A lucky hit, he grumbles, while your frank look proves your disbelief. Thankfully it wasn’t just him caught off-guard, otherwise he surely wouldn’t live down the embarrassment.

Only he stumbles once you convince (according to him: nag) him enough to go see any of the Union’s several medical specialists. That's when you decide he probably shouldn't walk the rest of the way there. Unceremoniously, you take him in your arms, and carry him the rest of the way while he makes a rather embarrassing noise that's a mix between a yell and a squawk. He insists that he is more than capable of walking himself and you respond dryly with just, "and do what? bump into a miramon if they so happen to appear again?"

He grumbles. Face flushed and expression flustered because even with his more fearsome reputation, there is undoubtedly going to be stares. (Xuan and Lewis stare in awe because no one has ever really made him speechless like that before, and he simply flips them off at hearing an awkward cough hiding a laugh.) Even with the short walk there, Li Ling will admit that it's kind of nice to be carried around like this (as with his extra arms, he's probably doing most of the carrying), will probably start getting comfy only when you actually have to put him down, but he'll never admit that. Although for his sake, indulge him once in a while, would you?

i have a hc that the tang twins had brown hair before their esper transformations, and that they kept them in identical braids.

since tang xuan's careers section specifies they couldnt be told apart, i assume they also had the same hairstyle.

after their esper transformations, tang yun kept desperately trying to dye his own hair red, wanting to cling onto their childhood symbiosis, in contrast to tang xuan feeling liberated now that they were no longer identical.

it was impractical since, obviously, he also refused to cut his hair as long as tang xuan also had long hair, and instead it always ended up a weird ugly purple. his hair is very damaged from repeated attempts to bleach and dye it

Tang Yun x Hall Headcanons:

(I feel like some of these are ooc/mischaracterized I'm so sorry)

They already met before either joined the Decree because their brothers hung out a lot, but they only started to know each other after becoming shadow guards

They first met when Bardon dragged Hall to one of Lucas’ shows, and while trying to find a spot to get away from the overwhelming music and yelling, Hall found Tang Yun hiding in a secluded corner, at the brink of tears and having a huge sensory overload (one day I’ll write a fanfic about it)

They both have very cheesy but cute pet names for each other:

I've already mentioned in a post that Hall calls Yun "Angel" because of the shape of his ears, but he also calls him "Min Elskede" which means "my darling" or "my beloved" in danish

And Yun calls Hall "pudding" because he likes to say that Hall is very sweet, just like pudding

Tang Yun likes to play with Hall's hair when he's bored or as a distraction to pass thr time after missions, he always does tiny braids on it

They’re both bilingual and they're teaching each other how to speak their languages(Hall speaks Danish and Tang Yun speaks Mandarin)

When they first started dating, Leon threatened to snipe Tang Yun if he ever hurt Hall's feelings and the Xie twins, especially Yuzhi, also made similar threats towards Hall  (they threatened to bury him alive if he ever fucked up)

They can't even stand next to each other without some shadow guard yelling “GET A ROOM”, it's mostly either Freddy, Jeanne or Yuzhi doing that just to annoy them

Tang Yun learned how to write in braille so he could leave little notes with loving messages scattered around Hall's apartment for him to read, Hall thinks it's really cute and he kept all the notes found so far

Hall is the only person in the SD that Yuzhi refuses to prank and if asked why, he’ll say that it's out of respect for Yun, since the two are dating (bullshit, he has seen the damage Tang Yun can do to someone who messes with Hall and he doesn't wanna risk ending up at the morgue over a prank, Yuzhi enjoy being alive with all his bones & organs intact, thank you very much!)

Tang Yun's love language is biting, no I will not elaborate

Hall learned how to make homemade chocolate pudding to surprise Yun on his birthday, or when he's having a bad week

Tang Yun is very needy and affectionate, but he's terrified of becoming annoying or a burden to Hall, so he tried his best to not be needy at all(abandonment issues does that to people, saying this from experience :D)

They crash at each other's place so often it feels like they're practically living together, they even have keys to each other's apartments:

Because of this, Hall started keeping hair products in his apartment even though he doesn't need them, they're for Yun since he comes by so often, sometimes Hall will use some of the products just because the scent is nice and reminds him of Yun

Tang Yun started keeping some of Hall's clothes and favorite action movies for a similar reason, he'll sometimes watch some movies by himself when Hall is away in a mission

The only person that can convince Hall to put on a shirt is Tang Yun and no one can change my mind

Hall started carrying noise canceling earbuds with him just in case Yun start having a sensory overload during one of their dates or in general

They're the only people in Grandis that Sander trusts enough to pet sit his cat for him, they even nicknamed the cat "Indigo"

Hall will frequently buy a random trinket and gift them to Tang Yun because it made him think of him(they're usually mini stuffed animals, mini axolotl figurines, ponpon keychains, bracelets, etc), as much as Yun thinks it's adorable and cherishes every single trinket given to him, he can't help but worry about Hall's spending habits

Tang Yun's avataras are also very affectionate to Hall, but that actually makes Yun a little jealous (this hc was inspired by "The New Guy" btw)

Hall started hanging out with the Xie twins more often because of Yun, He became their alibi whenever they did their pranks and sometimes he joins in on it as well

Tang Yun paints Hall's nails for him, they sometimes wear matching nails

so glad this one is semi-canon now but yun and the xie twins are besties. he is their unofficial younger brother. he is the only one in the shadow decree that knows how to talk to and deal with them without nearly dying. they have no clue how he does it
