my self indulgent always sunny headcanon of the day is that mac claims to hate taylor swift but has a secret playlist of taylor songs that remind him of dennis

i hate to keep pushing this but it kind of pursues me everywhere so

i don't like "taylor swift is gay" discourse AND

it's not because i think it's disrespectful to talk about celebrities sexuality (although i do)

it's not because i think being gay is bad (i am bi)

it's because i think it's harmful and disrespectful to the lgbt community

she is a straight woman who made her career out of songs she's written mostly about her male exes who has been linked correctly to several male partners and who has a very performative gay alliance stance. i like her and her songs and yet it's important to acknowledge all of that. she's not asking us to see it when she wears a certain color os gives us a certain look. if she was and wanted us to know she'd tell us. she keeps things private when it's convenient and then she makes things public also when it's convenient (don't get me started on the football player thing i am so over that). she is not gay. there are very real, very out gay singers out there making gay music. go listen to them if it's important to you.

This insomnia is killing me.

This is totally my opinion. I strongly believe that Nic believed Luke and the dancer had broken up in NY. They did hook up on the WT, I believe she was under the impression that A was confused and that Luke had given her the wrong idea that they were more serious than what they were. Leading to all the mixed messages answers.

A resurfaced at the London premiere, and I still believe it was orchestrated by his sister Lauren.

Now, before the cray cray, Luke haters misunderstand me. Luke has some issues. He is truly a nice guy. And with nice guys, they tend to get into situations because they are trying not to hurt people.

He and Nic put some distance between them after the WT. It is easy for them to compartmentalise. Their feelings are just their characters spilling over.

The throwaway comment that Nic made about her being a 7 haunts me. It presents as low self-esteem. She knows she is a good actress, and she is happy to receive compliments when it has to do with her work, but she hates it when people comment on her appearance, good or bad. I might be projecting here, but it makes sense to me. Every time she gets recognised for anything, she pivots to someone or something else.

She loves Luke and cherishes his friendship. I think she sees it to be all that it could ever be. I have been in a similar situation. Again, I might be projecting.

He and A rekindled their relationship over the summer but parted ways again just before S4 filming kicked off. By this time, Nic's walls were up.

After the new year, A again reapeared, this time at the family funeral. Again, I think Lauren was the person who invited her. Luke and Nic have been on a filming break. Similarly to the one they had in Nov/Dec last year. My guess is about a month. During this time, he and A started hanging out again.

This brings us to the SAG awards. I have a feeling A was going to be at least at the afterparty, but something last minute changed.

From the SAG awards red carpet, it did seem like it was coming more from Luke's side. Nic was more reserved. But their feelings for each other are real, and they can't hide it. Nic's walls are still up to protect herself. Yes, in my opinion, it was an overcompensation to follow A. Saying in a way that she won't let anything happen between her and Luke because, look, she is now friends with A. Also, I believe subconsciously she is forcing Luke's hand, claim A, make it official.

Now, I don't believe he will claim A. Actually, the opposite will happen. He believes himself to not be a pushover, unlike his character Colin. Because he is a truly nice guy, he acts out in a way that only hurts himself. Like how he took A to the Boss One event and the BAFTA afterparty. Someone most definitely in his team advised him against it.

Luke and Nic will be back on set tomorrow, and I believe they will confront what has happened.

Side note: Luke respecting S3/Polin/Nicola by not bringing A into the light has done what I thought it would. He has gained a lot of positive attention. He was essentially just part of the ensamble nominations, but he was as highlighted as Nic by all the major accounts. Yes, their interaction helped. But essentially, they only hugged each other. In of it self is super harmless and on the surface meaningless. It was the authenticity of the moment that made it blow up.

I listened to the Nikki Glaser episode of Armchair expert with Dax and Monica on my walk yesterday. She famously made a comment about Taylor Swifts weight, which was included in Taylor's documentary. She reflected on how it was 100% on herself. She was projecting as she was struggling with various forms of eating disorders. She was jealous of Taylor, one for wanting to look like her and two for wanting to be her friend. She apologised to Taylor, owning what she had said. Taylor graciously accepted the apology.

I so resonated with what Nikki was saying. I gained quite a bit of weight in my 20s&30s because of some health issues. Not having the funds to see specialists. I have always been told I was pretty. Sinse from a very young age, but when my late father made a comment a few years ago that it is a shame that I gained so much weight, I am no longer pretty, shook me to my core. I never thought I was pretty. But I suddenly realised I was being treated differently.

Covid happened, I got retrenched and received a really nice settlement. Could finally afford that specialist, psychologist, and dietician. 12 months later, and I am back to what I weighed at university. It has been hard work. Commitment and determination. No excuses and being extremely hard on myself.

Something inside me has shifted. I used to be body positive. All bodies are beautiful and have value. But lately, I find myself thinking very harsh thoughts. When I see someone who is overweight, I judge them. If I can do it, so can they. Why are you not taking care of yourself. Your health is the most important. If you could just stop eating takeouts or sugar. This is me 1000% projecting. It is my own issue. I miss eating nice food. I miss having to just sit and watch movies. Not exercise. Sometimes walking 5km is absolute torture. Everything hurts. My energy is at 0. Every step is extreme effort. But I am being so extremely hard on myself that I just hate on everyone who gets to not do it. I can admit that. I don't go and speead that toxicity on other peoples posts.

These people hating on NIc or Luke, you are telling on yourself. It is not on them. We don't know them. We make assumptions and guesses, but at the end of the day, we only see glimses of them.

Before making that nasty comment, reflect. Are you projecting, assigning labels, and judging what is on the surface?

i love it when you get sustantiatedly bitchy about things that don't really matter like ships, so i'd love you to talk about some of the ones you feel most strongly about, but tbh now i am also curious what you DO see

anyway i feel like most of my examples are honestly not down to anything wrong with that particular ship but moreso overall trends in f1blr shipping (and i think i have set forward this exact thesis before so apologies for repeating myself but i love getting bitchy as much as you love to read it so i will yap about it again 😁) so it's probably more productive for me to just moan about those. perhaps with examples. just to swing the bat at the hornets' nest a little bit harder

in my opinion all of these trends are also interconnected - although they may at first seem contradictory - and feed into and amplify each other's respective flaws to create one big mess of mediocre shipping

trend one: trying to make fetch (yaoi) happen for every combo of teammates, rivals, drivers who came up through feeder series together regardless of if there is any chemistry or even anything remotely interesting about the dynamic

trend two: when there is no chemistry or canonically compelling feature to a certain combo, instead of doing the tried and true crackship method of getting a bit silly with it and going "hey would this be fucked up/funny/sexy/cute or what" everythingggg has to be about overwrought tinhat soulmateism, which is what makes trend one so exhausting. you can't be telling me you actually think every single teammate combo on the grid are actually star crossed lovers with abundant genuine and compelling yaoi fodder. it's not possible

trend three: everyone on here has the attention span and object permanence of a six month old cocomelon addict and so instead of respecting and sticking to the genuinely fantastic "vintage" (read: they were teammates/friends 2-5 years ago and don't interact as much publicly anymore) ships that exist for several drivers the overwhelming trend is for people to flock to the next big thing (read: whatever two drivers are standing next to each other for this season). it's kind of like migratory slash fandom but it's even weirder because it's happening all within one fandom, and half the time you're abandoning a genuinely good fun interesting ship for something that fits trends one & two and is therefore, to me, a bit shit

anyway examples of ships i just don't really Get for one or more of the above reasons include: a lot of contemporary lando ships (i'm not actually saying this because i'm a lando hater on track. when it comes to yaoi i do not discriminate and i think carlando is an all time banger f1 rpf staple. which is why i'm baffled by so many people acting like landoscar is anywhere near a worthy replacement); certain other teammate ships like britcedes, alex/logan (🕊️), zhou/bottas; even (please don't kill me) lestappen to an extent which i don't mind and have even written multiple fics for but i think people are taylor swift easter egging it a bit too hard at this point

on the other hand some of the ships i DO still like and Get include: strollonso (genuinely top ship to me at this point, peak contemporary teammate ship), piarles (idk if this has fallen victim to the Vintage Ship issue as much as i think or if i just perceive it that way bc half the pierre blogs on here have me blocked), some maxiel (lowkey prefer it when treated as a Vintage Ship as opposed to trying very hard to prove it's still alive and kicking today), carlando as already mentioned, whatever was going on between lando and max fewtrell and their possibly shared girlfriend a couple of years back, charlos (another strong contemporary teammate ship), sebmark, and of course my beautiful iconic eternal brocedes. I'd also ask that Chappell Roan fans interact with caution. I don't like Chappell Roan. In fact, i am often a hater. I never put my stuff in the Chappell roan tag bc I'm not trying to pick fights. I just feel like she's doing the same stuff a lot of nonwhite queers were doing years ago, better than her. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

I've been putting this off for a couple weeks, but I have to talk about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

First off, yes I am a Swifty. And yes, I am a man. But that doesn't matter in the big picture. She is a talented, successful, beautiful woman who has amassed a legion of fans with her music and stage presence. I don't think that anything about her is manufactured or fake. She is a real, genuine person and cares about her craft and the people who love her.

I am a huge football fan as well. And when Travis Kelce entered the picture, it was a perfect match in that spectrum. Watching them interact with each other for the past 6 months has been a delight. I am a romantic at heart and their relationship has moved me like a breath of fresh air. The PDA they displayed at the beginning of their romance was inspiring and I couldn't help comparing it to Kelce scoring a touchdown and Taylor captivating large, enthusiastic crowds with her performances.

They seem to be totally into each other. And just like following a football game or screaming in adoration at Taylor during her concert; it's epic.

But the past couple weeks, the insane, hardline conservatism that Magas, Fox News and the general insanity of the GOP has displayed is sickening to me. So let me sort this out. The GOP thinks that Taylor is an undercover operative working with Biden to gain votes for the upcoming election. Wow. I didn't think anybody from that party was intelligent or creative enough to come up with that kind of scenario. It is just bonkers. (The GOP party should change their name to the Bonkers party.) I guess haters are going to hate, no matter which hat they wear.

But despite all this insanity, I am going to thoroughly enjoy the upcoming Super Bowl. I am going to enjoy, win or lose, Travis and Taylor's love story. I am going to lose myself in the idea of love and how high it can elevate all of us.

And maybe within that, I can find a little for the Bonkers party as well.

As someone who is “team real” (although I totally respect everyone’s opinion) I can for sure understand why people who are “team PR” would see why not wearing a ring would be a big deal.

To be on the other side of things, she could not be wearing it because honestly… if I was engaged to him? I wouldn’t wear one if people knew who I was. And not saying she doesn’t deserve the hate she’s gotten but with the response she has had with the public, I wouldn’t be caught dead with it on. Also, they could just want this to be about them and have something that’s just between them and their families. Or they’re not engaged at all. Or, this whole thing is 100% PR which could be possible too! Either way, no one knows exactly what is happening because we don’t know these people.

I understand that perspective but given the lengths her and her friends have gone to for attention it doesnt make sense to me

The entire thing is weird and I do believe its to garner attention. I can't explain why else Justin keeps doing the shit he does. We also know for a fact she watches the fandom, given the mom picture and yoga diploma since they were posted as a direct response to speculation.

They want attention. That is their only purpose.

Alba is the only celeb I know of who LOSES several hundred followers every time she posts.

This is her main source of any kind of attention and interaction at this point.

Given the type of people they all clearly are, I wouldn't put anything past them. And to be honest? If they were engaged, I don't believe for ONE second she wouldn't want to SHOVE that into the faces of the people hating on her. Of course she would. Why wouldn't she?

And if they're truly happy and engaged, why would they even care in the first place? Who else do you know that abides to the "haters" will in the same way?

Even Taylor Swift, who got publicly shamed and cancelled, came out and said "fuck you bitches" with an entire album and tour, and all she said was "there will be no explanation. There will only be reputation."

This behavior is weird and not at all normal, I hope even people who believe they're real and even those supporting the relationship, can see that.

Happy that you liked 'A Dream Carved in Stone', read it multiple times and will always go back. what do you think about the potion with dark magic that haves to Lily? I am not sure if maybe is quite common in a lot of Snape/HP fanfics but when I read in aim & ignite about the Patronus potion I immediately thought about that ff.

I'm not sure if it's common but I mean, it's entirely possible! Sometimes I wonder what ideas are original and what I've deeply buried from fanfics I read 10+ years ago. I read so many Severitus fics that I began to forget that Snape is not Harry's dad LOL.

11: Do you write scenes in order, or do you jump around?

I try to write in order because I find that it flows and makes me want to rip my hair out way less but other times I jump around and then I end up with a patchwork quilt of a chapter that is a pain in the ass. I don't know what it is but I cannot just sit and write in one go; it's constant skipping back and forth and I hate it.

18: Do you enjoy research?  Which fic of yours required the most research?

I do like the research aspect - most of the time it's "can I do this magic thing" but then I realize She-Who-Must-Named-Be-Named never really gave any indication of how magic worked which I actually really enjoy, it gives fanfic authors so much creative liberty. I really enjoy going back and rereading canon and noting little things I can change, that takes up the majority of "research" tbh

23: Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process?  How do you come up with titles?

during the writing process; all of them are song titles or lyrics! aim & ignite came from the fun. song titled "light a roman candle" and the lines, "we owe it to ourselves to try, so we aim and ignite."

the snily oneshot came from the song "Majorie" by Taylor swift, because that song is so fucking beautiful and heart breaking, and Lily is dead in the main story but she is woven into Ariel's life so much more. "what died didn't stay dead, you're alive in my head."

34: How much of your personal life/experience do you include in your fics?

not a lot at all; sometimes my fiancé will say something really sarcastic and I'll be like, that's a Snape line." I think it's in Chapter 2, but Snape says something like "were you hurt in the mental leap you took --" before Dumbledore cuts him off and my fiancé said that about someone else once and it made me laugh really hard. other than that, nothing really, I am Loving, Nurturing Teacher and Snape is Supreme Hater of All Children.

okay well maybe now that I think about it, some of the snarkier teacher thoughts from Snape, but that's it LOL.
