Hello everyone and happy Monday to you all! I’m back at work today after two and a half weeks off and it’s been tough 😅 What better way to celebrate than with a book haul?! These are three hardbacks I grabbed for very different reasons 😂 Malibu Rising was a no brainer as Taylor Jenkins Reid has become an auto buy author for me. Then we have the beautiful Cwen with hot pink sprayed edges. Well you all know I’m a sucker for a spredge and a great cover but it was the synopsis that really drew me in. Finally, we have a non fiction book called My Broken Vagina. Do I need to say anymore?? I was desperate to get my hands on this as soon as I saw the title. Looks fascinating too! I’ve recently finished a wonderful audiobook on women’s health called Pain and Prejudice so this may be my new favourite topic to explore. 😉 I’d love to know your thoughts on any of these books or authors. Hello everyone, happy Monday, happy new week and happy book haul day! 😜 These three gorgeous hardbacks (all #waterstonesspecialeditions) were preorders and I’m already SO excited to be reading The Maid with #bitcrackbookclub next month. The Maid follows Molly Gray, a woman who struggles with social interactions and interpreting people’s intentions. Her Gran used to help her interpret the world but has passed away recently. She has been managing for herself working as a hotel maid which fits perfectly with her personality. However, on entering the room of Mr Black one day, she finds it in disarray and Mr Black himself dead in the bed. Because of her unusual demeanour she is identified as lead suspect but then with the help of friends that she never realised she had, the race is on to identify the real killer. Daughter Of The Moon Goddess is book one of a duology and is a debut fantasy novel inspired by the legend of Chang’e, the Chinese moon goddess. It is the story of one woman’s quest to free her mother by pitting herself against the most powerful immortal in the realm. Finally, Pandora is a novel set in Georgian London where the discovery of a mysterious Ancient Greek vase sets in motion conspiracies, revelations and romance. Hello everyone and happy Friday! My energy is low and I’m feeling a bit poorly but it’s time for another book haul. These three gorgeous hardbacks got my attention in one way or another. The first, Hare House is described as a modern day witch story perfect for fans of Pine and The Loney. Well, I enjoyed The Loney when I read it with the lovely @owlbesatreading recently and I’m starting Pine as a buddy read with lots of other bookstagrammers today so that sounds very exciting. Consider The Lilies is all the fault of @victoria_catherine_shaw she did a post about this book recently and I was desperate to get my hands on it too. It’s described as a modern classic from one of Scotland’s greatest authors that captures the thoughts and feelings of an old woman who lived through The Highland Clearances. Finally we have a selection of poetry chosen by the author Sarah Crossan. It contains poems to comfort, uplift and delight and I’m actually sorely tempted to crack it open this evening and make myself feel better. I don’t have any kind of real expertise with poetry but I definitely want to be less scared of it! I’d love to know your thoughts on any of these books or authors. Hello everyone and happy Monday to you all! I’m back with another book haul. These three lovely little paperbacks were crying out to be preordered. Honestly they were! 😉😜 These Violent Delights was recommended by my lovely bestie Janel over at @keeperofpages and I managed to pick up the @waterstones exclusive edition with hot sprayed edges which makes me a very happy Beth indeed. This is an imaginative Romeo and Juliet retelling in 1920’s Shanghai with rival gangs and a monster in the depths of the Huangpu river. Yes. I’m sold!! I’m a huge fan of Karin Slaughter and can’t resist when another of her novels comes out in paperback even though I’ve got quite a few to catch up on 🙈 This looks to me one of her stand alone novels and tells the tale of Leigh Collier, a woman who works as a defence attorney but who has also had a traumatic childhood. She is asked to defend a man on multiple counts of rape but then realises she knows him and he has asked for her deliberately. He knows what happened twenty years ago and suddenly she has much more to lose than just this case. Finally we have Cold Boy’s Wood. I absolutely loved Carol Birch’s novel Jamrach’s Menagerie and am hoping to get to more of her backlist. It promises to fuse the ghost story with sharp psychological insight and is an arresting, timely novel about loneliness, buried secrets and the havoc they play on the mind. Hi everyone and happy Monday! It’s the start of another week and I’m here with the first of my book hauls post for the week 😜 I have almost got caught up with the books I’ve bought so I will be dropping these posts once a week from next week 😂 All three of these books caught my eye at a recent visit to @66bookclub_ with @keeperofpages and I’m looking forward to picking them up! I’ve had A Gentleman In Moscow by Amor Towles on my shelves for the longest time so when I saw Rules Of Civility I had to pick it up too. It follows a woman called Katey Kontent on the last night of 1937 where she is in a jazz bar watching a quartet because she can’t afford the whole ensemble. By the end of the year she has learned many things including how to live like a redhead and how to insist upon the very best. Embarrassingly, I’ve just checked Goodreads to help with the synopsis and it turns out I’ve already read this book and rated it 3.5 stars. I don’t remember reading it at all!! 🙈 I’m going to give it another go! 🤣😅 The Princess Bride is one I have to admit I’ve never read or seen the cult film before. I definitely haven’t, I promise 😂 This follows a beautiful girl who marries the handsomest prince of all time and he turns out to be quite different than the man of her dreams. Finally, Janel convinced me to pick up The Method. It’s about a sixteen year old girl who is pregnant and kidnapped. Hello everyone hope your week has started off well, happy Monday to you all. I’m still off work but feeling a bit better and it’s a great chance to share another book haul with you! These are three paperbacks I’ve had my eye on. Variations is a debut short story collection where the history of transgender Britain is explored. After reading and thoroughly enjoying Detransition Baby earlier this year I’ve been eager to educate myself more. Filthy Animals is another short story collection, this time the stories are all linked and although I haven’t read the author’s previous Booker listed novel Real Life, it’s coming up fairly soon on my TBR, promise! 🙈😂 Finally we have The Weekend, a novel from Charlotte Wood. I loved her previous novel, The Natural Way Of Things and am excited to read more from her. This follows three women in their seventies who spend time together in the beach house of their late friend. I love stories from the POV of older protagonists and I’m looking forward to getting to know this group of ladies. If this is anything like Wood’s previous novel, it’ll have its dark moments and I am HERE for that! Monday is book haul day!! Hello everyone and hope your Monday has got off to a good start. Today I’m back with three new paperbacks to add to my already enormous TBR.
