Supporting Robotics and Automation Rollouts with Industrial Estimating Services
Introduction Robotics and automation are revolutionizing industrial operations by boosting productivity, improving quality, and reducing labor costs. However, implementing these technologies requires significant investment and meticulous cost planning. Industrial estimating services play a pivotal role in supporting robotics and automation rollouts by providing detailed, accurate, and realistic cost estimates. These estimates help stakeholders make informed decisions and avoid budget overruns in complex automation projects.
Understanding the Cost Components of Robotics and Automation Robotics and automation projects involve a variety of cost elements beyond just the purchase price of equipment. Key components include:
Hardware costs: Robots, conveyors, sensors, controllers, and peripheral equipment.
Software costs: Licensing, integration platforms, programming, and updates.
Installation and integration: Engineering design, system integration, and commissioning.
Training and change management: Educating staff and adjusting operational processes.
Maintenance and support: Ongoing servicing, spare parts, and software upgrades.
Cybersecurity: Protecting automated systems from vulnerabilities.
Regulatory compliance: Ensuring adherence to safety and industry standards.
Accurately estimating these diverse costs is essential for comprehensive budgeting.
How Industrial Estimating Services Add Value Industrial estimating services bring specialized expertise in cost analysis tailored to the unique challenges of robotics and automation:

Becoming deeply radicalized against the idea of crewed Mars missions, y'know how the Rovers keep sending back better and better data what if instead of that we made an even bigger one and devoted nearly 90% of its capacity to holding a guy in a bubble on top of it instead of sending back useful data, but wait! They'll eliminate like a half hour of latency and also almost certainly contaminate the landing site and possibly the entire planet, so it's not all downside.
#At least in the near term it's fucking pointless and the downsides are very large and very big#Quite frankly it is extraordinarily likely that the first people to arrive at mars will do so dead#Because they will have been sent by fucking idiots willing to take too large risks#But the good news is that the wreck will spread across and contaminate huge amounts of the martian biosphere#To the point that we will quite possibly never be able to discern the history of life on mars#But if they live at least they'll get to slightly reduce the latency on our telerobotic fleet!#And travel home with the samples I guess#Good thing Percy's tagging and bagging rocks that we just canceled the return trips for#At least once we fuck up the rest of the planet those will be sterile#Kinda still excited about Aritimis but also kinda becoming anti-human spaceflight in general#We should consider not doing that for a while and at most focus specifically on living on the moon in a controlled and limited fashion#Ground the whole fucking commercial fleet who gives a shit those capsules are both gonna get someone killed sooner rather than later#And it's not like we're learning a whole lot by having people on hand up there#They spend most of their time trying to keep the machines from falling apart#Which is the main thing people would be doing for three continuous years on the shortest possible mars mission#Like you could send a dozen rovers for the price of one crewed mission both mass and money-wise#And that's probably a lowball estimate even assuming more and more advances in rover technology#Which are happening a lot faster than the advances in life support technology#Right now we do not even have enough functioning space capsules at our low earth orbit space station#Starship HLS is a fucking joke#The whole thing reeks let's just stop sending people into space for a while what were we really getting out of it

"therapists are gonna become obsolete as more and more people use generative ai for therapeutic purposes" I cannot overstate how much that isn't gonna render our job obsolete. That actively creates more work for us in just about any branch of psychology I can possibly think of.
#anti ai#anti gen ai#look if there's one job where i'm not worried about technology replacing humans#it's mine#idk there's a conversation to be had about the price and inaccessibility of mental healthcare#and the isolation of people that leads them to turning to fucking character ai or chat gpt for help#but yeah i don't think praising the “human connection mimic” that reinforces this isolation is the solution oddly enough#“it's gonna put psychologists out of work” bro we're already overworked and you're making this worse

AU where Stockman decides to leave the foot clan after he initially gets his eye gouged out and then goes looking around for other potential employers that interest him (traits including that they have Interesting- if not necessarily legal- work and probably will be able to keep the foot clan from getting to him again because I can't imagine that Oruku Saki takes kindly to a defector) and one way or another ends up discovering the EPF.
And Baxter is a smart man who happens to be getting out of a previous job where he got maimed, so he's a little bit cautious about the organization and looks into it. Which probably involves a bit of hacking and accessing government documents that he really shouldn't have access to, let's be real, but one way or another he decides its a good fit and gets an interview. For sake of the scenario I think Bishop himself is doing the interview, maybe because Stockman is a pretty high profile, talented person, and Bishop wants to see for himself what he's like.
So the interview starts and goes as interviews do, Baxter bragging about himself up and down and probably also dropping hints that he's down to do illegal things because let's be real the EPF does so many illegal things. And then at some point he starts hinting at things that are buried deeper and that he shouldn't be able to know at all. Things about the EPF's true nature that shouldn't be available to a civilian, sure, but also things about Bishop. Things that are so deeply hidden that nobody but himself and maybe the president should be able to know.
And since let's be real subtlety is not Stockman's strong suit this is probably him being like "hey given that you founded the EPF that means you've been alive since at least 1870 what's up with that?" in the middle of the interview before going back to talking about how awesome and smart he is.
And Bishop is just sitting there going "I think my only options are to hire this guy or kill him."
#bambi's rambling#tmnt 2003#tmnt 2003 au#2003 baxter stockman#2003 bishop#eye trauma mention#and then stockman gets hired obviously thats the funniest option#let him at that alien ship that bishop has squirreled away in area 51 he will create technology aliens themselves can only dream of!#it comes at the low low price of him being a petty asshole to everyone around him! including bishop!#anyway the idea of bishop agreeing to an interview because hey this guy is *known* to be incredibly smart and also he went missing???#might as well see what all that's about#and then getting all of his personal information recited to his face. by a guy who's motivation for doing so is 'surely this will get me hi#it would be such a fun dynamic

Yesterday I bought a November 28, 1963 newspaper from Buffalo, New York and it seems the reason why someone kept it is because JFK died a few days earlier so most of the headlines are about what Jackie O and LBJ were doing in the wake of the tragedy. Thing is, since this was published right after Thanksgiving, 3/4 of it is actually advertising for the AM&A department store [existed 1867-1995] for their Christmas sale. Most of it isn't interesting merch but there are occasional glimpses like this Fisher-Price toy that I don't recall ever seeing as a child and don't think I've ever seen in the antique stores.

Petroleum Coke Prices Index: Trend, News, Graph and Demand
Petroleum Coke, commonly referred to as pet coke, has seen dynamic price movements across global markets during the first quarter of 2025, driven by a combination of supply constraints, shifting demand patterns, and macroeconomic factors. As a by-product of oil refining, pet coke plays a crucial role in industries such as aluminum, steel, cement, and power generation. Its pricing is influenced by factors like crude oil costs, refinery output, freight rates, and the broader energy landscape, including coal and alternative fuel prices. Throughout Q1 2025, pet coke prices have shown a bullish trend in most regions, marking a sharp contrast to the relatively subdued or even declining market sentiment seen in the previous quarter.
In North America, particularly in the United States, pet coke prices followed a strong upward trajectory during Q1 2025. The quarter began with limited supply and weak demand from the silicon metal industry. Despite this, prices gradually increased due to tight spot market availability, adverse weather conditions affecting transportation, and an overall positive market sentiment. February saw prices stabilize briefly at around USD 400 per metric ton FOB USGC before rebounding sharply by the month’s end. The return of Chinese and Indian buyers after the Lunar New Year, coupled with increased consumption from aluminum and steel sectors, fueled a 4.9% price jump. This upward momentum carried into March, with prices climbing another 4.6% in the first week alone. Supply constraints continued due to low inventory levels and consistent refinery shipments, while freight costs remained competitive. Rising downstream demand, especially from carbon-intensive industries, reinforced the bullish trend, leading to a strong quarterly performance and a clear departure from the marginal price decline witnessed in Q4 2024.

The Asia-Pacific region, with a focus on South Korea, experienced similar bullish dynamics in the pet coke market. Prices for calcined petroleum coke on a CFR Busan basis started at USD 362 per metric ton in January and increased steadily through the quarter. The market was initially supported by constrained supply from China, limited spot availability, and elevated freight rates caused by pre-holiday congestion. Despite tepid demand from the silicon metal industry, aggressive pre-Spring Festival stockpiling by buyers sustained upward price pressure. February brought stronger procurement from aluminum and steel manufacturers, aided by the return of major importers like India and China. While early February showed stable pricing, a 6.9% spike occurred by the end of the month as supply tightened and shipping costs declined. In March, falling crude oil prices did little to curb the bullish momentum. Demand from carbon-consuming sectors increased, pushing prices up by another 7.7% during the last week of the quarter. Compared to Q4 2024, which saw seasonal demand recovery, Q1 2025 was defined more by a supply-driven rally and robust market fundamentals.
European markets also mirrored this global bullish trend in pet coke pricing. Prices began January at USD 396 per metric ton and rose consistently throughout the first quarter. Although downstream demand from the silicon metal and construction sectors remained relatively weak, supply-side limitations and tight spot availability provided strong price support. Rising freight rates and cost-push factors from crude oil added to pricing resilience early in the quarter. In February, sentiment turned more decisively bullish as procurement activity increased across the aluminum and steel sectors, further encouraged by the return of Chinese and Indian buyers. Despite a decline in crude oil prices, narrowing discounts and rising international demand led to a 4% price increase by the end of February. March continued the upward trend, bolstered by active trading, lower inventories, and steady U.S. supply. In stark contrast to Q4 2024, which recorded a 1% drop in pet coke prices due to weak market sentiment and growing competition from alternative fuels, Q1 2025 delivered a notable reversal marked by strong demand, diminishing discounts, and a robust price environment.
South America, particularly Brazil, demonstrated one of the strongest quarterly performances in the pet coke market. Beginning at USD 432 per metric ton in January, prices surged throughout Q1 2025, culminating in a nearly 14% increase by early March. The bullish run was underpinned by reduced supply from U.S. refiners, planned shutdowns of coking units, and rising freight rates resulting from logistics disruptions. Although the silicon metal sector remained a weak spot in demand, increased consumption from aluminum and steel producers more than compensated. Aluminum facilities resumed full-scale operations following the holiday season, while steel output rose steadily, driving procurement activity. Falling feedstock crude oil prices offered some relief on the cost side, but narrowing price differentials between pet coke and coal helped maintain competitiveness and support further price increases. Improved global trade conditions following the Chinese New Year, along with renewed interest from Indian and Chinese buyers, added to the bullish momentum. Even during brief moments of price stability, increasing crude oil prices and strong downstream demand drove another upward push by the quarter’s close, securing a firm bullish trend for Brazil’s pet coke market.
Globally, the petroleum coke market in Q1 2025 has been characterized by a convergence of tight supply, resilient industrial demand, and shifting macroeconomic variables. Price trends across major regions reflected both local conditions and broader global dynamics, such as refinery output disruptions, international trade flows, and alternative fuel competition. Compared to the final quarter of 2024, where some markets experienced price stagnation or decline, the first quarter of 2025 marked a decisive turnaround driven by stronger fundamentals and heightened market activity. As industries continue to scale up post-holiday production and global trade stabilizes, pet coke is likely to maintain a firm pricing outlook, at least in the near term.
