TSSC partners Huawei to open Centre of Excellence for IoT in Patna as India gears up to become skill capital of the world

The Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) inaugurated a Centre of Excellence at NIT Patna for capacity building in the telecom sector with Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). The inauguration was graced by the chief guest Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad (former IT minister) who lauded the efforts of TSSC, citing the growing economy of states like Bihar, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh. The CoE will cater to roles in Information and Communications Technology, Cyber Security, Electronics and Communication including Technical, Services and allied fields. This includes job roles for Internet of Things (IoT), Call Centre Executive, ToT, ToA, among others. On the occasion, Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad (former IT minister) said, “TSSC is fulfilling the need of the hour by creating high-end skill centres to cater to demand from the youth. We need more industry-aligned training to empower our youth with advanced skills like 5G and IoT. I want to see more being done for the state of Bihar.” The MoU, which has been signed for a period of five years, is aimed at the skilling/reskilling/upskilling of aspiring students to enhance their employability through training in innovative technologies. This includes finding potential sponsoring agency (govt./private) for developing the suitable infrastructure at NIT Patna for smooth conduction of the training programmes. The CoE will also train the Trainer and Assessor program for certifying trainers and assessors. Arvind Bali, CEO, Telecom Sector Skill Council, said, “Frontline workforce skilling & upskilling for the telecom industry has become imperative with the accelerated growth of the industry. We are seeing new technology-enabled ventures every day with telecom being their backbone, and to fulfil client delivery, we need to have the workforce in place. Huawei will be a strategic partner who will help us align with the future demands of the industry and NIT Patna will provide the crucible for the transformation of the students.” TSSC will be supplying training content, network of training partners, industry connect, NOS as per industry demand, institutionalize accreditation process for training providers, assessment and certification of assessors, trainers, and trainees, all of which would be endorsed by the industry. This centre will also serve as an adequate facility for Industrial Training for B. Tech/ Diploma/ Certificate courses. The lab setup will cater to high-end courses in IoT technology. Once the period of the MoU is over, the centre will be handed over to NIT Patna. Harsh Khurana, Executive Director, Huawei India, said, “Huawei has been a strong proponent for telecom growth in the Indian market. India has immense potential to develop quality skilled workers and TSSC has a proven history for finding prime movers in the ecosystem. NIT Patna is one such institute which is why we chose to work over here. The accelerated technological growth of the Indian market will lead to more services and manufacturing in the telecom industry. We chose a futuristic technology like Internet of Things (IoT) taking into consideration the growth potential of IoT with projects like NDCP and Smart Cities India.” NIT Patna will host the lab setup and all equipment necessary for the training. It will additionally be supplying a faculty list for those who wish to be trainers at the CoE. The institute will be in control of the centre to optimize operations at the centre. Pradeep Jain, Director, NIT Patna said “We at NIT Patna consistently strive to raise the educational standard of NIT-Patna. As a legacy engineering institute, we must upskill ourselves with the changing times. Huawei and TSSC present the perfect mix of technical prowess and operational control for us to collaborate with them to train students in futuristic job roles. At around ten o'clock in the evening of July 6th 1988 the Piper Alpha oil platform in the North Sea was rocked by a huge explosion.
The 30th anniversary of the disaster will be remembered at a special memorial service tonight in Aberdeen at the Piper Alpha Memorial Garden in Hazlehead Park. The names of all 167 men who lost their lives on July 6 1988 will be read out during the ceremony to be attended by their relatives, friends and representatives from the oil and gas sector.
The vast human tragedy of that day sent shockwaves around the world and forced the industry to take a painstaking look at its practices. On that night, there were more than 220 men on board Piper Alpha, with most in the accommodation section and more than 60 working on the night shift.
After a gas leak on the North Sea platform a series of explosions followed and, minutes later, it was engulfed in a fireball. By the time the rescue helicopters arrived, flames were reaching 300ft and could be seen from 70 miles away. The smoke and fire made evacuation by helicopter or lifeboat impossible, and many people gathered in the accommodation area. Remaining there meant certain death. With the platform ablaze and exploding, some men jumped off from 175ft above the North Sea. Others plunged from lower levels or clambered down ropes and hoses before plummeting into the water. There were only 62 survivors that night in what remains the world’s worst offshore disaster. An inquiry led by Lord Cullen opened in Aberdeen in January 1989, ended in February the following year, and published its report of several hundred pages nine months after that. It led to North Sea safety being shifted from the Department of Energy to the Health and Safety Executive, and meant that automatic shut-down valves were made mandatory on rigs to starve a fire of fuel.
It's not often I would name all those that perished, but on the 3oth anniversary I think it is only fitting to do so, RIP to the 167......

Fiber Engineer Training Program
With their construction well under way and a strong team in place, CCN is now keen to offer locals the opportunity to start a career in fibre. The new fiber engineering trainee program will train people without prior experience to join the project. As fully qualified fiber engineers, potential trainees can look forward to years of reliable work and the opportunity to be at the heart of digital transformation in the local area. Trainees will join CCN in full-time, permanent roles from day one. If successful, you will be offered fully funded in-house training with CCN. The training program will run for 6 -18 months, starting with two weeks of in-class training at CCN's Portsmouth training site. Trainees will then have the opportunity to continue their training for two weeks on site, shadowing and working alongside established fiber engineers. The program will continue until you receive all of your credentials. CityFiber commissioned CCN to build the network for much of the south, with sites in Chichester, Worthing, Dorset and Portsmouth. What does it take to become a trainee fiber engineer? No prior fiber or telecom experience is required, but two things are essential for success. First, trainee fiber engineers must enjoy working outdoors, in the field. Second, willingness to learn new skills, and commitment to the program will be important. Due to the requirements of the role, trainees must be aged 21 or over and hold a clean driving license for two years.
What will the learners get in return? Each trainee who completes the program and passes probation will receive their certificates in Unit 2 NRSWA (Guardian Safety and Lighting) of the SA001, SA002, S7 and S8 fiber qualifications. You will also be promoted to a qualified fiber engineer role, bringing a higher pay rise and more autonomy.
Are these paid positions? yes These are full-time, permanent jobs from day one. Trainee fiber engineers start at £20,000 a year. They also get pension, 20 days holiday + bank holidays, and retail benefits. Each trainee will be given a probation period of six months.
What are my career prospects as a fiber engineer? Fiber is a relatively new industry, as such, there are not enough skilled professionals in the job market. Qualified and experienced fiber professionals are in high demand across Britain. The CityFiber project alone is expected to take at least 5-years of operation. Once a network is built it will still require constant maintenance, repair, and expert monitoring. A fiber engineer's career path may include promotions to supervisor or fiber engineers may continue their professional development and acquire qualifications in other areas. TSSC partners Huawei to open Centre of Excellence for IoT in Patna as India gears up to become skill capital of the world

The Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) inaugurated a Centre of Excellence at NIT Patna for capacity building in the telecom sector with Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). The inauguration was graced by the chief guest Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad (former IT minister) who lauded the efforts of TSSC, citing the growing economy of states like Bihar, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh. The CoE will cater to roles in Information and Communications Technology, Cyber Security, Electronics and Communication including Technical, Services and allied fields. This includes job roles for Internet of Things (IoT), Call Centre Executive, ToT, ToA, among others. On the occasion, Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad (former IT minister) said, “TSSC is fulfilling the need of the hour by creating high-end skill centres to cater to demand from the youth. We need more industry-aligned training to empower our youth with advanced skills like 5G and IoT. I want to see more being done for the state of Bihar.” The MoU, which has been signed for a period of five years, is aimed at the skilling/reskilling/upskilling of aspiring students to enhance their employability through training in innovative technologies. This includes finding potential sponsoring agency (govt./private) for developing the suitable infrastructure at NIT Patna for smooth conduction of the training programmes. The CoE will also train the Trainer and Assessor program for certifying trainers and assessors. Arvind Bali, CEO, Telecom Sector Skill Council, said, “Frontline workforce skilling & upskilling for the telecom industry has become imperative with the accelerated growth of the industry. We are seeing new technology-enabled ventures every day with telecom being their backbone, and to fulfil client delivery, we need to have the workforce in place. Huawei will be a strategic partner who will help us align with the future demands of the industry and NIT Patna will provide the crucible for the transformation of the students.” TSSC will be supplying training content, network of training partners, industry connect, NOS as per industry demand, institutionalize accreditation process for training providers, assessment and certification of assessors, trainers, and trainees, all of which would be endorsed by the industry. This centre will also serve as an adequate facility for Industrial Training for B. Tech/ Diploma/ Certificate courses. The lab setup will cater to high-end courses in IoT technology. Once the period of the MoU is over, the centre will be handed over to NIT Patna. Harsh Khurana, Executive Director, Huawei India, said, “Huawei has been a strong proponent for telecom growth in the Indian market. India has immense potential to develop quality skilled workers and TSSC has a proven history for finding prime movers in the ecosystem. NIT Patna is one such institute which is why we chose to work over here. The accelerated technological growth of the Indian market will lead to more services and manufacturing in the telecom industry. We chose a futuristic technology like Internet of Things (IoT) taking into consideration the growth potential of IoT with projects like NDCP and Smart Cities India.” NIT Patna will host the lab setup and all equipment necessary for the training. It will additionally be supplying a faculty list for those who wish to be trainers at the CoE. The institute will be in control of the centre to optimize operations at the centre. Pradeep Jain, Director, NIT Patna said “We at NIT Patna consistently strive to raise the educational standard of NIT-Patna. As a legacy engineering institute, we must upskill ourselves with the changing times. Active in more than 130 countries, TotalEnergies puts sustainable development in all its dimensions at the heart of its projects and operations to contribute to the well-being of people.     Job Summary: Provide support to the Information Systems & Telecommunications team mainly in telecommunication.   Roles and responsibilities: - Collaborate with management to develop and implement an effective communications strategy based on our target audience. - Write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website content, annual reports, speeches, and other marketing material that communicates the organization’s activities, products and/or services. - Respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews, and act as a spokesperson for the organization. - Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists, and maintain a media database. - Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the brand, and coordinate publicity events as required.     Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering. - Must have undertaken Industrial trainings in Telecoms, ISP environment with a GSM operator (in roles of Field Engineers, RF, Transmission, Core Networks and NOC operations - Should have knowledge of network systems and technologies (radio links, microwave, VHF, fiber optics, leased lines, WiFi, IP address planning and cabling) - Certifications: CCNA (Route or Voice) with any programming language - Maximum 2 years post-graduation experience.     How To Apply for Total Uganda Jobs 2022 All interested and suitably qualified candidates can submit their applications through the link below.
