I think that I can say that my main problem with Epic is the lack of consistency. Epic started beautifully, tragically, and logically enough (in terms of mythic logic, not real-world logic, yep). And it was never labeled with a sticker stating, 'It’s going to become really unrealistic, goofy anime logic later. Be ready and proceed with caution.' (I am not saying that all anime logic is goofy; I am just saying that there exists a special kind of 'goofy anime logic,' and it’s totally okay if a story uses this kind of logic, as long as it does so from the start so the audience is prepared for it.)

So, I was really tricked a little into believing that Epic was going to remain at the same level until the end. And then... there was a wait for the conclusion. I can bet that I would never have become a fan of Epic if I had seen 600 strikes with the other sagas at one moment. But it was impossible to watch it then, so I just believed it was going to maintain the same level. And I was totally wrong, but already attached to Epic, so it kinda hurts.

So... it looks like it was just my bad luck to get attached before knowing the ending. This isn't going to happen with others now, because picky viewers will just drop Epic when this sudden change occurs and won't get attached to the story from the start. And I think that’s a good thing. :)
