Tip
Don’t be shy, go outside and make friends
This one is important for everyone but even more so for international students.  It is important to have a group of people to be there for you through the good and the bad and so you want to go out of your comfort zone and make friends.

Take the time to apply for scholarships. Even going to a community college puts a dent in your wallet.

What I wish I knew...
Use a planner. Don't fall behind. Don't fall into un-organization. Most of the points come just from showing up. Go to your professor's office hours. They will give you extra points or bump you up if they know you. Study more than a day in advance. If your shot tally is over 6 take a 30 min break at least.

What I wish I knew...
Go out and meet people in your classes. It makes studying a lot easier and you can ask for notes if you miss classes. It might also give you a reason to show up to class.

What I wish I knew..
Long distance relationships are hard and it is easy to miss out on a lot because of relationships. Take a semester to be single and if things are meant to be then come back to each other around Christmas time.

What I wish I knew...
I wish I knew MSU has their own version of Koofers/ Rate my professor called SONA. The surveys we take at the end of the semesters are uploaded onto the website for student reference. https://msucas.sona-systems.com/Default.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2f

Tip
Don’t buy the book for your class until after the first few days. Ask people who have taken the class if the book is necessary. A lot of professors get commission on textbook sales- so they tell you to buy it when you don’t need it.

Tip
The school bookstore is a last resort. Chegg and amazon are much better ways to get ahold of books. Renting books through Amazon is super cheap and you get them for longer than the semester (no rush on retuning it the last day of class)

Tip
Buckle down when things get tough, the hard work is only momentarily and so small compared to the huge outcome of passing classes and getting your degree.
