absolutely yes is the answer! it's just been on a sort of hiatus the last few years because I've had some insane things going on irl, and I also think I sort of ran myself into the ground by putting a ton of pressure to update because I was writing so much at the beginning (when I was at a very different place in my life than I am now, with lots more time).

but I do work on it from time to time, and I've made a promise to myself I will finish it...I'm just not entirely sure when. but hopefully soon!

OHMIIGD i just read ttfs for the first time and DUDE. AMAZING. LOVELY. FABULOUS. I've realized that one of the reasons I love your writing so much is bc it is so INSANELY CRISP.

here’s a bit of married jily from The First Time Divorcees Club 😉

“You’re ridiculous.”

“You like it,” James responds and slides his hand around her arse, pulling her on top of him. She gasp-laughs and props herself up, hands braced on either side of his head. She smiles down at him, hair falling around her shoulders in a soft cloud.

“I do,” she concedes. She wants to trace the lines of his mouth—the quiet smile he’s wearing now. It’s not his usual grin, but it’s softer and directed entirely at her. A little upturn at the corner, lips slightly parted. Eyes bright and unguarded without his specs in the way. She wants to memorize the feeling of his happiness, so when they’re apart she can touch her fingertips to her mouth and imagine that slight curve against hers.

She can’t do any of that, since her hands are currently occupied with holding her up—though pressing entirely up against his bare chest with her bare chest doesn’t sound like such a bad idea—so she consoles herself with dipping her head and kissing him.

@pottinglilies and @theesteemedladydebourgh tagged me to share a line from a WIP but I don't want to share just one! 😅 Here's a teaser from the Second Chances AU I'm working on:

Lily’s heart skips as her eyes dart automatically toward the clump of people opposite her, mind already racing about the possibility of seeing a familiar face, and then it feels like her heart stops entirely, like her stomach falls straight through the floor, when her gaze instantly lands on the hazel eyes already locked on her.

Six years ago, when she’d arrived on Platform Nine-and-Three-Quarters for her seventh year at Hogwarts, she’d thought his newly defined muscles and longer hair had turned him into a man over the summer. How wrong she’d been. This, in front of her, is James Potter turned into a man.

Strong jaw, chiseled cheekbones, tamed hair. Bags under his eyes and five o’clock shadow on his face, both of which only serve to somehow make him more handsome. He’d always been pale, but now he looks ashen—or is that a result of seeing her?

A discreet elbow to her arm knocks her out of her trance and Lily blinks, glances sideways. Ruby’s eyebrows are high on her forehead, but she seems to be the only one who noticed the staring match happening while everyone else’s attention is focused on Aurora. Thank Merlin.

hi hi! i got my shit together (theoretically), and TFTDC is returning for semi-regular updates this summer! 🥳 starting with chapter 8! 🧳🐺🦌🌼🌅🕰⚖️💘 (emojis in no particular order, though perhaps with some hints)

i embarked on a thorough reread of JHF and TFTDC last week, which made me realize 3 things: 

1. I can never read my own smut again. once it’s written down, it’s out of my hands and my eyes can never take it in ever.

2. Chapter 5 (March II: and we fall into each other) of TFTDC is by far my favorite chapter of the fic, and entirely responsible for re-igniting my passion for writing. 

3. i’ve missed this world and these characters, and there’s a whole new basket of mysteries, emotions, themes, and past issues 👀 to get into for the summer months of the fic. 

***little addendum on thematic pacing, because it just occurred to me that i should probably explain it lol. January-March II was thematically Act I of Part I of TFTDC, and April-May was Act II. (By Part I, I mean that in my head the fic is split into two halves). June starts off Part II of the fic, with Act I being the summer, June-August. And then theoretically September-December is Act II of Part II, but that has potential to change if I add anything new!

hopefully that made sense and wasn’t just vague rambling haha. the emotional arcs of this fic are extremely important to how it’s structured, because where Lily and James are emotionally is almost more important than the plot. and there are some fun arcs coming up!

i will be popping on and off of tumblr over the next week (and constantly tip-tapping away in my little writing cave), but i’m very happy and excited to get back into posting fic again, and especially to work on this story!

yeah, part of the reason I wrote JHF/TFTDC was because I couldn’t find any accidental marriage jily fics and I thought it was a fun trope to play around with (in a slightly diverted way since they’ve been together in the past).

Hmm I'm realizing I've read extremely little married/domestic Jily, ha! All that's coming to mind at the moment for established marriage are two Jily Lives fics/series I really love: Eyes Glistening by @startanewdream and Professor(s) Potter by @jilyesplz.

A fic I adore that's not technically "marriage" but is still very domestic and fluffy is The Waiting Game by @cesays.

And the only fic in the accidental/fake marriage category I know about right now is @theesteemedladydebourgh's masterpiece Jingle—Holy F*ck and its sequel, The First Time Divorcees Club!

If anyone has any others feel free to leave them in the comments. These are tropes I don't often read or see aside for the fics above, so I'm also curious what else is out there!

I’ve actually been thinking of trying out something new with TFTDC, so I’ll put it to you guys for opinions: I’ve been shown time and time again that writing the massive, ~40k chapters is just not possible with my lifestyle these days, which is completely different from what it was when I was posting TFTDC regularly (blame the work industry I do 😭). It’s also often the thing that stops me from working on it, because I write chapters in short bursts, and I never feel I have enough time to do the whole thing, so I just don’t attempt it even when I have a day or two to write.

So…I’ve been thinking of possibly splitting the chapters into shorter segments? Meaning 3-4 parts per month of the story. Maybe around 6-10k each (roughly). I don’t want it to feel disjointed, and it would be a bit of a challenge for me to fit the story around this in a way that leaves natural breaks, but I’m sure I could manage it.

If I did do that, either the story would just continue on with more chapters (but no change to the content or overall length of the fic, just to clarify!), and maybe eventually when my life sorts itself out I could go back to fewer and longer chapters, or maybe not! I’d just see where it went.

Idk, it’s entirely up to you guys 💕 I like the longer chapters in terms of theme, but I have to come to terms with the fact that if I stick with that, it could be a very long time (possibly years) before I have enough time to devote to writing them.
