Up From the Skies, Aliens Exist! (Crossover Among Us AU)

I started putting together a crossover among us au with some of my fandoms because someone told me how they love among us fics and my ass went "omg i used to love among us, let me write something"

i think i mightve been itching for something platonic cause why am i so excited about the potential friendships? like, between those from different fandoms? i might have the slightly bit of someone catching a crush (and then either they or the person they like dies), but for the most part im here for introducing the faves to each other and have people die 😌

im gonna start watching old among us videos to get back in the headspace of the game, and i might even start playing it again myself so i get some new hands-on experience 😭 but i'll mostly be basing it on 2020-2021 among us (in it's height) cause idk all the changes that well

oh! and the fandoms im currently planning on cobbling together are: mcu spiderman trilogy, blue beetle (2023), voltron: legendary defender, and homestuck. basically anything i liked that was related to space even a lil bit (and most of these are a lotta bit!)

when the first chapter of this insanity is posted, i'll make another post here to say so. im so excited for all the murder and betrayal 🤧 i already know who's dying first... and im so sad (my ass had to spin-wheel it cause i did NOT wanna part with any of my pookies 💀 but thats like... the whole point. lotta people gonna die LMAO. but now that the first has been picked out, i feel more comfortable with all the other characters im gonna kill off 😇)

So first off, for those who don’t know me well, I have a total of Four Sona’s: Never the Dragon, Reven the Dragon, Roxy the Dragon, and Lis the Moth.

NEVER THE DRAGON: He’s been around since the beginning. That’s actually me! He came into existence around 2009, but wasn’t officially a fursona til I first learned about the furry fandom in 2013. Pretty much, I said “I’m a Blue Dragon” and that’s how Never was born. He took my name, which is also Never

ROXY THE DRAGON: Is a fursona I actually designed and made for a friend, my partner at the time. Roxanne is no longer alive however, and as such I took the Dragon back to remember her with (:

REVEN THE DRAGON: Born in 2017 because I needed a mascot for a sideblog I made, and didn’t want to have it relate to my main. His colors are the Tumblr default colors, with his tail being the notification icon ;) Reven is Never backwards

LIS THE MOTH: She’s small, fluffy, and her personality is a complimentary opposite to Nevers. Her colors reflect her true name; BLISS.BMP

The first three were Dragons because I love Dragons. I made Lis the moth to specifically branch away from that tho; diversitise my portfolio. Birds, Bats, and Moths are my three favorite non-Dragon animals, and thats where I got her from

As for making your own, alas I can’t help too well 😔 Never’s a Dragon because I love them so much. It was almost a given; had I found the furry community before Never existed, he still would have been a Dragon. The most common advice I’ve seen around is “Take your personality and assign it your favorite animal” but that only goes so far. it’s like, mid advice, but alas it’s all I have 😔

Don’t worry, you have multiple Worm anons. What Vision would you give Taylor? Cryo would make sense, for similar reasons you gave for Rachel (troubled teen ostracized from society), but I could also see Anemo—tends to avoid her interpersonal problems, the claustrophobia/desperate need to escape of the locker incident, loss of close relationships (her mom through death, and her friend through betrayal), etc. Also, I feel like Anemo just works better with her powers than Cryo; plenty of bugs can fly, but just about every bug hates the cold.

And if you’re willing, maybe elaborate on Electro!Lisa (which you mentioned in the Cryo!Rachel post)?

anyway. taylor is not anemo. shes like. the opposite of anemo. anemo is about reeavaluating your prev understanding of the world that was taken from u and accepting the loss, its about learning to let go and begin again, learning to go with the flow in new circumstances. taylor never let go of anything ever lol, she never met a situation she could not escalate by trying to solve it even if its not her fucking business. she's a definition of hyper-controlling freak lol. she's a queen administrator for fucks sake. like the only time you could say anemo even near her is at the end of the book where contessa asks her if it was worth it and she says no.

also, you should not get caught in subjects of powers. bugs is just aethetics, and both powers and vision bank much more on person's perceptions than on actual physicality. no one cares what bugs like. like, hu tao's symbol is plum's bloom, you could be like oh flowers hate fire! she can't be pyro! but its just aethetics, its about meaning to hu tao, not what actual plum flowers are like. with taylor, bugs are just infused witrh element and no one gives a fuck what they like. did bugs like biting lung's dick? natural properties don't matter

now about taylor's actual element... like i hope we're operating on the same understanding that powers manifest due to trauma and are ironic-tilted coping mechanisms? like im not actually in worm fandom on tumblr so idk if its a common understanding or not, but imma proceed like it is. visions are v similar to this, but not limited to trauma, they are about more general perception of the world, but obv if trauma is present, it will affect perception, and so, a vision, a lot.

so, what was taylor's trauma that manifested her specific powers? its not just bullying. its being watched, feeling like she's being watched at all times, like she can't have a safe space, they find her in the toilets, anywhere, etc, can't trust or count on other people. and so she gets power that lets HER watch everyone, lets HER be omnipresent, bc she thinks thats the only way to counter-act, and ultimately, lets her take direct control of other ppl bc she thinks she can't trust them to cooperate.

so like yeah. cryo kinda fits. but like. cryo manipulators are not blunt, you know what i mean? cryo like kaeya, rizzley, charlotte to the extent use social games and understanding of others to control them. taylor just brute forces it bc everyone's afraid of her.

so like. hear me out. raiden shogun. the theme of omnipresent watch over ppl. very strong warrior, but poor social skills\understanding of ppl. stubborn. thinks she knows best than everyone else despite not even knowing them. control of ppl for their own good. loss of close relationships, very solipsist. beating her head against the wall until the wall cracks (raiden fought her puppet for 500 years, taylor's... everything). raiden takes direct control of her puppet like taylor takes control of ppl. there's another toxic electro girlboss whose trying to manipulate her bc she thinks she's saving her (lisa\yae)

conclusion: taylor could reactivate raiden's vision

For me at least, it takes a certain amount of vulnerability to post at all about something you like, so having someone come in and yuck for yum feels so shit. Makes my skin crawl thinking about it.

People really can't just shut the fuck up. You're allowed to feel whatever way about some something, but it becomes a problem when you can't mind your own business and go out of your way to fucking rude.

also, scout doesn't know he's a robot from the start!! think like- fern from adventure time. he believes he's the og, and that he's a living being. (adding on, the word flashing at the end of the animatic- absconditus, means hidden or concealed in latin. i like to think engie had a failsafe measure installed in scout that makes it so that he forgets everytime he finds out he is a robot. i feel like scout probably overrode that command because he kept finding out over and over again, leading to engie just scrapping it entirely cause it was making him bug out or something lmao)

as for other teammates, i didn't really have much planned for anyone else! there was this idea of pyro and scout interacting because of their shared exp w/ engie and his whims, but not much else!

engie and medic have that mad scientist combo going on tho, i feel like engie went to medic everytime he was having trouble w/ anatomy in building the body, and medic was just like an enabler lol

i STILL keep having trouble finding my sideblogs on the new layout. its been like a month. If it was intuitive I would have learned it by now. No way thats newbie friendly

you can, you just need to post the image somewhere else first

what ive done when messing around with it in the past is make a sideblog thats set to private and post the image there, then you can go to edit your fic and the easiest way to add it is set it to rich text and do the add image option

right click on the image on tumblr to open it in a new tab, copy the url, and then paste it into the link area

you can edit the size here if you turn the lock off, but you can also just grab a corner within the editing box and resize it, you may have to play around with it and save it to check how it looks a few times tho

and then itll be in your fic (random draft i have for example)

if you need it to be moved to the right or left or something more and moving it is giving you trouble you can add some transparency to one or both sides in gimp or something and use the new image but otherwise i dont think there's really any ramifications, i actually get kind of excited at seeing images added to fics myself so others may likely feel the same

question for people who are better and more adventurous with ao3 than I am: can I edit a fic to have an image in it? are there ramifications to doing so beyond just. people who already read it will not know it's been edited since they read it?
