There's nothing to worry about here! Nothing in the Bible even remotely suggests that the Antichrist will be heralded by red smoke. In fact, "the Antichrist" arguably isn't even in the Bible at all - if anything, he's kind of a boogeyman stitched together from a number of unrelated passages.

Another influence on the modern conception of the Antichrist is The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion. This old hoax is why so many conservative Christians imagine that the Antichrist will be someone who seems to espouse progressive values, which is never implied in any of the Biblical texts Christians claim describe the Antichrist.

Since Pope Leo XIV is politically to the left of the Republican regime because he believes in some common sense stuff like "don't be turbo racist," we're probably going to see a lot of Christofascists claiming he's the Antichrist. But he's not. He's literally just a regular middle of the road Catholic guy.

In the prologue of Pathologic 2, in the first nightmare, Artemy talks to an Executor before he walks into a cloud of plague.

That Executor says "How should we know? You're the doctor, not us. Go and see. [...]" when asked what lies ahead.

In the Russian original, it's "Иди и смотри" - the translation is direct. But there's a crucial bit missing.

Иди и смотри is a clear (and well known) quote from The Book of Revelations, known in English as "Come and see". It is an invitation to observe the destruction done by the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Chapter 6, 1-7. Also the title of my favorite movie.

One of the many biblical and religious references in Patho, but that one got a bit lost in translation.

"Yeah, fucking fantastic." They approached a house with boarded-up windows. It looked reasonably safe. Suddenly, Ian swept Mickey off his feet and carried him bridal style. "The fuck are you doin’, asshole?" Mickey asked, shocked. But Ian grinned from ear to ear. "You're my apocalypse-husband, and I'm carrying you over the threshold!" Mickey couldn’t suppress a smile, even though all his alarm bells were ringing.
