Out of curiosity, reading one of Georgette Heyer's non-romance historical novels, The Great Roxhythe, set at the court of Charles II. I begin to suspect it is going to culminate in the Rye House Plot. It seems I am right, and not only that but she has introduced us to some of the plotters, and Algernon Sydney is there, and he has immediately started a fight with somebody. That's my boy <3
#she's kind of royalist but not as much as most people who write books set at the court of Charles II#more 'everybody involved in politics kind of sucks.' at least that's what her idealistic hero has concluded.#anyways it may be bad representation but There He Is. My Guy#people are telling him to shut up and he is not doing it#that is how he was <3#the Great Roxhythe (her fascinating brooding plotter with whom the idealistic hero is sort of unwillingly obsessed) is manipulating all of-#all of the Rye House Plotters and Sydney does not trust him. THAT'S RIGHT he was GOOD AT THIS STUFF#even though they got him in the end
