"First thing, make the pain stop. You are literally mentally compromised when you're in overwhelming pain."
The drugs have stopped the pain in my back and hips for now. Deep massage and adjustment by my spouse also stopped the pain for now. For now.
Oh boy, sleep. That's where I'm a Viking.

*entire body screaming in pain all day*
*drugs kick in*
*entire body softly groaning in pain*
My sleep brain: fuck it, close enough, time to sleep.
My THC brain with ADHD (or the other way around): You fool, you think we're not going to read Whump fics for an hour and then dream an entire episode.
*drugs kick in harder*
Yeah I'm good now. Kick harder, drugs.

Hi hello I saw your tags on a post about not giving up and I have to ask what is the spear theory?? It said “hope is a boar spear” is that not the thing that stops boars from further impaling themselves so they can gore the person stabbing them?
Those tags are unrelated, actually! Hope As A Boar Spear was found elsewhere on Tumblr.
The Spear Theory is a thing I invented with a friend on LiveJournal in the early 2010s. It's based off the Spoon Theory. You get a set number of spears to fight Symptoms. The broken and bloodied ones you retrieve are added to the cache.
I'll see if I can find the original links.

November 2024: I just tapped the sign so hard I cracked it.

It's not even hidden. People openly admit to this. They've literally said openly "most of the deaths are people with disabilities so we shouldn't care".

My lower back has been violently spastic all day, and sometimes I forget how I've trained myself to be quieter when I'm in extreme vicious pain. Screaming into pillows is very effective.
Baclofen, gabapentin, weed in vape form and RSO form, might need more of each, it's pretty bad, my toes are yelling.

Oh shit, this weed concentrate is so good that my spastic left hand is suddenly drumming fingers all by itself. Note: my spastic left hand almost never has the dexterity or fine motor control to move each finger separately. My ring and pinky finger are completely unable to touch each other, my pinky joint keeps subluxing. I literally can't do the Vulcan salute with that hand.
Right now, my everything is so relaxed and flexible that I bet I can stretch my whole spine without whimpering.
...yup.
Oooh, something popped good. That was my hips with their ski slope tilt.
It's a rush of energy, like a cool breeze beneath my skin. My body translates reduced inflammation and better muscle circulation as air conditioning under my skin.
I love you, THCV.

Me: I just took like 30 mg of THC. The lower back spasticity and the hip tightness has all been brutal. It's stopped raining and now just hovers, heavy in the air with all the pressure. I'll see you in a couple of hours, floating in space.
My friend Neon, who is learning medical cannabis history from me: See you in the void of time, my friend.
Me: Awwwwww.
The Edibles, kicking in:

Sigh.
I sometimes forget that having a daily cannabis regimen really is regulating my everything, and I slide back to baseline without it. My baseline is OW FUCK EVERYTHING HURTS. Therefore, "taking your medicine makes you stronger" really is a thing I need to stamp on my forehead.
Example: I don't wanna move, I don't wanna take a shower, fuck everything.
*smokes vape of Blueberry Cheesecake and bowl of Lamb's Bread* Never mind, I actually do want these things.
A novel concept.
Those DARE programs in the 80s and 90s with all that Reagan propaganda really did worm its way into a whole generation's mental health crisis.

Hi. I was born with cerebral palsy. I don't suffer. I've never suffered. My life has been pretty amazing.
I'm sorry you find my body horrifying. I'm not a victim, though.

hayao miyazaki on ableism re: AI depicting “zombie”-like movements:
presenter:
miyazaki:
the last part usually gets quoted out of context as a meme or to paint miyazaki as an unreasonable grump but he was speaking against the ableist usage of disabled people’s movements for shock value & evoking ‘grotesquery.’

The Most Common Pain Relief Drug in The World Induces Risky Behavior, Study Finds
Okay holy shit I'm ready to call bullshit on some of the language used here. Tylenol leading to higher risk taking and lowered empathy? Just say you're biased against autistics and BPD folks and go.
This is worrying because of the people who will fall for it, who will try to turn on the chronic pain community yet again, who will drag mental illness out into the streets of so called social justice and who will throw so many neurodivergents under a large bus.
Someone needs to articulate this better because I am losing my eloquence in the face of the audacity.
