we all know about the creature, but it's clark saving the engineer by shielding her from the impact actually. because she tells lex that she won't be able to survive the collision, but she does, even if barely, and it's known that if you put something (or someone) soft under you to break a fall the result will be better, which means that's exactly what clark did.

I love this because it shows off how both stories perfectly foreshadow this moment. Superman makes it clear that the nanites are controlled by her mental functions so when The Engineer falls unconscious, the nanites stop working. Meanwhile Taylor's bugs are controlled by her shard so when Alexandria tries to escape the bugs just keep going and even once she's out of range the bugs are still doing their bug thing so even without Taylor to control them they do not stop. Love this!
