There’s dark, and then there’s the darkness of Hellblazrer’s demon infested 1980s. It’s a treacherous world that’s not for the faint hearted, but the perfect setting for horror tales that are both gripping and gritty.
‘Hellblazer:Original Sins ’ is one of those comics I picked up at a book fair based on reputation alone. Not that I knew anything about it other than the name, but I’d seen Hellblazer mentioned as a classic 1980s comic alongside Watchmen and ‘V for Vendetta’.
The alternate version of the 1980s portrayed in Hellblazer is full of otherworldly horrors as demons feed on humanity's avarice and weaknesses. But not all of the terrors take the form of mythical beasts. ‘Hellblazer’s darkness also plays on many of the fears of the era - AIDS, drug addiction, famine, ‘yuppie greed’, Thatcher’s conservatism and the aftermath of the Vietnam war.
The book’s protagonist is John Constantine, a hard drinking practitioner of the occult, whose unique skills are frequently called on in the battle between the underworld, and the world inhabited by humans.
Constantine fits the mould of an anti-hero. His actions can generally be justified by the need to serve the greater good, but his pragmatic approach to solving problems involves betrayal, manipulation and quite literally doing deals with a demon. We see all this play out, and the toll it takes on Constantine, across the series of stories collected in ‘Original Sins’.
This is a book that won’t be to everyone’s tastes. If you like horror themes and aren’t too squeamish, this could be a series you enjoy, especially if alternate 1980s is a world you enjoy. For everyone else, it might be one to leave on the shelf.

Prologue 1: Bedtime stories.
John massaged his temple. He’d been pouring through ancient tomes and cross referencing half forgotten folklore for what felt like hours. He sat back in his overstuffed chair, considered lighting a cigarette, then recalled the one unlit, currently pressed between his lips. How long had it been there? He needed a break.
“Da- ... John?” The little voice inquired from the doorway. John slowly raised his eyes.
The child had been in his care for over a year now. Looking at her now, wearing an adults band tee like a nightgown and dragging the large stuffed bat she carried everywhere, it was hard to remember how dangerous she could be.
“Well, what have we here? Little Bird escaped her cage?”
She smiled at the affectionate nickname, but there was still fear in her eyes.
John Constantine had never once thought of himself as anything close to fatherly. After all, his own dear old dad had been nothing short of a five-star bastard. But she wanted to call him dad, wanted him to be a father to her. Seeing her, putting on a brave face, but desperately craving comfort and company, it reminded him why he had taken the girl from a dying world, a dying mother, and her own five-star bastard. He moved in a way that only a concerned father can move, a delicate balance between caution so as not to startle, and haste to provide that comfort she was practically begging for. In moments he had scooped her up, cradled like a princess in his arms.
“Bad dreams again Rachael?” He asked tenderly. She nodded.
“Can’t get back to sleep then either, I take it?” She shook her head.
He pointed at he stuffed bat, now held in a chokehold by her scrawny little arms.
“Now you listen here Batsy, I told you more than once that you’re supposed to keep our girl safe.” A stern voice, usually reserved for pit fiends and people fooling with things they didn’t understand. John Constantine was upbraiding a stuffed toy. If that ever got out it’d be the end of his reputation. But bullocks to that.
“His name is Bartok. And he’s just a stuffed animal.” But she was giggling, genuine and true.
John exited the study carrying the girl back to bed. Neither noticed that the doorway which had previously opened into the foyer now deposited them on the second floor landing, a few doors down from Rachael’s bedroom. This was the House of Mystery, and it changed to suit its owner’s needs. Thankfully it knew John well enough to know that carrying a six year old child up a flight of stairs was a little excessive.
“That’s not entirely true, now is it luv? We studied totems and objects of power just last week. You’ve given him a name, and you carry him with you everywhere. Bartok is probably absolutely pulsing with magical energy. With the right focus and a solid incantation Barty could be a regular supercharged dream catcher.”
He was laying her down now, pulling the covers over her, but making sure to leave the bat’s stitch’s smile free. Rachael listened intently and nodded.
“Zatanna will be here all day tomorrow. I’m sure if you ask really nicely she’ll help you.”
“Is she doing a magic show right now?”
John smiled and nodded.
“Some of us have day jobs. You’ll want to follow her lead on that. Don’t be a deadbeat like ol’ Johnny boy.” He ended with a silly face, and was rewarded with another giggle.
“We’ll have to tell Zee to get you some proper sleepwear. I’m not sure how I feel about a six year old trundling about in a Mucous Membrane tee that’s older than Christ.”
“I like it. Zatanna says it’s the band you were in when you were a teenager. Uncle Boston let me listen to some of your songs, but he made me promise not to tell. He said there were bad words.”
“Did he now? I’ll have to have a talk with ‘Uncle Boston’ later. Punk is for your rebellious teenage years.” He smiled to show he was joking, but mentally cursed Boston Brand for starting her off with his old rubbish. “All tucked in. Close your eyes now Little Bird. Try and sleep.”
He started to stand, but the girl’s eyes doubled in size, wordlessly begging him not to go. He settled his weight once more.
“How’s about a story then?”
She immediately brightened.
“Will you tell me a Hellblazer story?”
John laughed.
“Those stories are a bit too dark for you Little Bird. When your older. Promise. I was thinking something a bit more age appropriate. With dragons.”
Her face dropped.
“A fairy tale?”
“Not exactly, luv. By all accounts this is a true story.”
She quirked an eyebrow suspiciously.
“It does begin a long time ago, in a land far away. About a thousand years ago. In a land called Nol. It was a different dimension. Nol was a peaceful kingdom, in the heights power. Arts, sciences, magic. A true utopia by all accounts. Streets of gold and all that. Actually,” he smirked, leaning onto his side, and gesturing with one hand while chanting under his breath. Sparks of gold light shot from his fingers, and after a few quick twirls, he flicked them towards the ceiling with a flourish. “Better to show than tell, innit?”
The sparks of gold fluttered and danced, multiplied, and arranged themselves into an image. Rachael gasped and watched in wide-eyed wonder that briefly made John understand Zatanna’s Copperfeild routine. Hovering above them, at an angle suited for a child to fall asleep to, the streets of Nol took shape, exactly as John pictured them when he read about them.
Polished marble walls rose ever skyward the tallest among them of height with a modern skyscraper. The streets, onyx, not gold, sloped downward in a gentle incline towards the port, and the sea beyond. All manner of strange vessels were docked there, traders and travelers from strange unknown lands. The great gates of the walled city were many, made of bronze, and flanked by the figures of many fantastic beasts. Here a griffin, there a sphinx, manticores, and many others beyond listing. The houses were of chalcedony or marble, with each their own walled gardens. No workers tools had ever touched these stones, and in fact it looked more like the stone had grown into the shapes they now held.
Of that same seemingly grown stone was the palace, directly in the city’s center. The highest of its towers dwarfed the Great Wall of Nol. And there were many towers. The palace was an opulent thing of soaring towers and impossible domed buildings, of high bridges between towers that seemed impossibly fragile from below.
The child consumed every detail with awestruck wonder.
“The people of Nol enjoyed a thousand years of peace, power, and prosperity. Now, the thing about good times is that they make people soft. See, the soldiers of Nol, save a few brave fools, had grown fat and confident. Sure there were a handful of knights and soldiers who traveled the countryside solving problems and seeking honor and all that rubbish, but mostly the good people of Nol believed nothing bad would ever happen to them.”
“And that’s exactly when something bad happened to them, right John?”
“That’s right. That’s the first lesson in this story, Little Bird. Prepare for the worst, and always expect it to get worse.” She nodded.
“And so, it was a great shock, then, when the dragon came.” The image of the city was replaced with the silhouette of a dragon, a massive thing with glowing eyes. The earth seemed to tremble at its wingbeats and Rachael gasped at the sight of it. “The Primordial Serpent, The Conqueror Wyrm, Malkior. From the east the dragon came, in the late hours after the sun had set. The beating of his mighty wings stirred the whole city to waking, and the soldiers, who were used to only marching about and yelling at rowdy kids prepared for a fight. The first fight for most of em.”
Even as he spoke, images of soldiers rushing too and fro in panicked chaos replaced that of the dragon.
“Now, the great dragon made quick work of the city’s walls, with his great claws and his mighty tail, and even quicker work of the inexperienced troopers practically throwing themselves at him. Even those brave knights who had returned to the city failed to even scratch the dragon’s mighty scales. All seemed lost for Nol, as the beast made his way towards the heart of the great city, intent on the palace and full of sinister purpose.”
Though Constantine had made sure the images were age appropriate, Rachael had pulled the covers up to her nose and was squeezing Bartok tightly.
“But, and this is the most important lesson from this story, it is always better to be clever than it is to be brave, or strong. And very luckily for Nol, there just so happened to be a very clever mage named Rorek. See Rorek had spent his whole life studying magic specially to kill Malkior. Rorek happened to be in the palace, studying magic with the king’s high mage, and when he heard the beating of those sinister wings he knew exactly what to do. Armed with naught but his personal spell book and his wits, Rorek claimed the tallest tower in the palace of Nol to face his hated foe.” The words flowing forth from John were just as magical as the scenes mirroring them to the little girl, and she fought against drooping eyelids to not miss the epic battle she knew was fast approaching.
“ The dragon reached the palace just as Rorek emerged on the tower’s roof.
‘Hark dem-“
“Do the voices.” The girl demanded in a voice laden with sleep. John could think of no reason to refuse.
“ ‘Hark demon! I am Rorek! For too long you have burned and killed and destroyed unchecked and unopposed. I oppose thee now!’” The voice he used now was softer, and a bit more proper. One might allege that he based it off one Jason Blood, though Constantine would never confirm this if pressed on it.
“ ‘Little man,’ said the dragon,” in a voice not dissimilar to Jason’s better half, “ ‘ I am the destroyer, the defiler, the conqueror. I am Malkior! I have seen worlds rise and fall, only to rise again. I have slain kings and emperors, heroes and champions. Who are you to think to stand against me?’ And Rorek stood tall and began his spells. The battle was fearsome, for Malkior too was versed in powerful and ancient magics. It seemed for every spell, hex or curse Rorek threw at Malkior, the dragon knew it’s counter. But Rorek was clever, and even while casting an unending torrent of spells, he prepared his last trick.
‘Foul beast, demon that you are, thy name does not suit thee, but nonetheless, Malkior, I call thee by thy true name, and by thy name bind thee!’
And the dragon roared with fury, lashing, thrashing and cursing even as he was pulled into Rorek’s book and bound. But with a final curse, disaster struck, and the tower which had been the scene of their epic battle was reduced to rubble, and Rorek was lost. But Nol remembered its hero, and until it’s final days celebrated the triumph of Rorek of Nol.”
As the final scene came to a close, the image faded, and the swirling cloud of golden dust dissipated and dissolved.
“So you see-“ John cut off as he turned to look at the girl and found her snoring softly.
He smiled, whispering an enchantment to ward against bad dreams, and brushing her hair back, kissed her forehead to seal the spell in place.
The barrage of vision and memory came with shocking clarity and coherence. Had he not been seated, John would have been knocked off his feet. The things he saw would haunt him for years to come.
It took time to compose himself well enough to stand, much less return to the study, where, hours later Zatanna found him, cigarette in one hand, scotch in the other.
It had been some time since Zee had seen John this upset. It was only after a second and third drink that he smoothed his unruly blond hair back, took a deep breath and spoke.
“We need to talk about Rachael. And her dreams.”

Hell brothers (5/?)
Summary : Hellblazer crossover. Antichrists Michael, Duncan and Jim, aka the triplets of Hell, are not okay. Their dear sister, aka favorite toy, is missing. Strangly, their Father is not helping them with this matter. He prefers to make a deal with the one who is protecting her, John Constantine.
Back with this story, I hope you will like it !
It was a bad idea, a very bad idea, and damn, why was he still looking for solutions to this insoluble problem, when he did not care about this girl ? Constantine did not want to be there, he should not have been there, maybe it was even worse than going to church, because most of them were glaucous, full of secrets and vices, while this place... Miss Robichaux's Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies was immaculate white, a building imposing yet pure and reassuring, filled with women as dangerous as sweet, perverse and kind, working for both their interests and the good of humanity. John had been surprised that Cordelia Goode agreed to receive him, and seeing Myrtle Snow's disapproving look in the entrance, he imagined she had made that decision without consulting her, or she had simply decided to ignore her advice. The past he shared with the Supreme was complicated. They did not have a relationship per se, she was still married when they met and their work did not really allow them to be distracted, but there was always a tension between them, despite his links with the world from below. The sweet witch had innocently offered to help him solve his cigarette problem, to give him more time, but he declined the offer, preferring that she did not interfere in the affairs that were between him, God and Lulu, for her own safety. Because Cordelia Goode might not be taking care of the exorcisms, she was not tracking the hybrids that did not respect the balance, but she was more important than him, because her magic and those of her girls were a powerful protection against evil, and as long as they were there, the Apocalypse could not take place. It was not hard to guess why the Devil wanted the witch's death.
"John Constantine." Cordelia greeted him when he entered her office. "To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit ?"
"I'm coming for a... complicated case."
"Urgent ?"
"Not according to your criteria."
In other circumstances, the Supreme would probably have done everything to help Rachel, if the girl had been... normal, if Lucifer was not involved, if the fate of all humanity was not at stake. Constantine knew that she would keep her distance, that she would be suspicious as soon as he began to explain, but he wanted to be able to say that he had tried everything, absolutely everything, to find a solution.
"The case is very special. A girl came to me, explaining that she was tormented by demons, very powerful demons, directly sent by Satan himself, and and I do not think I can stop them. I knew it from the start, but... Lulu was kind enough to make me a proposal. "
"Whatever it is, it's a bad idea." Cordelia said, frowning. "Nothing is easy with him, there's always something. I guess what he asks is not possible and you're suspicious, telling yourself that it looks like a trap."
"Of course."
"So, what does he want ?"
"You, your soul."
Too bad, she had really seemed happy to see him until now, but Cordelia's smile completely disappeared after this revelation and she went on the defensive.
"I refused of course, it will not happen and you do not need to worry, but I'm trying to find out if there's another way. Maybe a spell so the demons can not find her, so that Lulu can not approach her."
"I see." sighed the witch. "Who is this girl, that the devil will persecute her like that ? She sold her soul ?"
"No. She is... innocent and very unlucky."
"That's why you want to help her so much ?"
"When you said I had to be suspicious, you were right, I have doubts about her, even now, but... if she ever did anything wrong, as she says, as everyone asserts, so she's going to have to go to hell for eternity. I've been there for ten minutes, I know what it is, and I can not let that happen to anyone who does not deserve that."
Rachel was weird, Rachel was the "daughter" of the devil, created to please his three sons, Rachel had never known anything but hell, but was that enough to condemn her to this life, to leave her because it was her function, that she did not choose and that she did not support ? What had she done wrong ? John was suspicious, because nothing good can be created by Satan, and yet... He had been an angel, he had been good, and the triplets had asked for someone pure, someone they could break. So perhaps, perhaps, that she was pure and for that he had to help her, especially if God did not do it. Slowly, Cordelia got up to put her hand on his shoulder.
"I'll look." she said in a low voice. "But I do not promise you anything. If you have not found anything on your side, I'm afraid it's a dead end."
She was going to try, he did not ask anything else.
___________________________
It was only a matter of time before the eldest of the infernal triplets came to see them, the Satanists knew it. They had seen the signs, heard the murmurings, learned that Jim and Duncan had been seen in several cities, so he was missing only the most important of the three, the most powerful, the most dangerous, Michael. And he would necessarily come to their church, even if they did not know the reason for their coming to Earth, so every night they would meet, to wait for his coming.
"Do you thin ... they come to announce the end of the world ?" Mutt asked hopefully.
"HAIL SATAN!" exclaimed Madeline, praying that the big day had finally arrived.
"I do not think so." Jeff said. "I mean, they would have come to see us right away, they would not have lost their time with idiots. They know we are the only ones who can help them."
"Ah, because you think they need us to succeed ?" Miriam Mead laughed. "You're just vermin for them. The Apocalypse will arrive without any of us being informed - no, they're here for something else."
"As always, you are the wisest of all, Miss Mead."
As soon as the sweet voice of their master's eldest son echoed in the church, all satanists turned to the door, before kneeling before Michael, but also before his brothers, who had unexpectedly accompanied him. No doubt they did not want to miss a chance to be worshiped, and especially to remember to everyone that even if they had not come out of their mother's womb first, they were as important and powerful as their twin.
"My lords." Mead greeted them. "How can we serve you ?"
"We are looking for our sister. It seems obvious that she has not left the country, and we are almost certain that she is in this city, but strangely we can not feel exactly where. A powerful magic is at work here. We suspect witches, but there are other suspects. As we deal with Cordelia, I want... "
"We want." Duncan and Jim cut him off.
"We want you to investigate the others : the warlocks, the voodoo queen, the inhabitants of the Cortez hotel, and... Constantine."
There was then an icy silence in the Church, while the tension was palpable, the triplets radiating hatred at the mention of the exorcist, probably because he disrupted the establishment of the end of the world, maybe also because their father seemed a little too attached to this insignificant human, but it was clear that they hated him, and that the only reason they did not go to visit him was because that the devil had forbidden it.
____________________________
"What is happening ?" John sighed as he pulled out his jacket, while Rachel kept staring at the computer screen in front of her, crying.
"She is learning." Billie replied with a smile. "She discovers the world, the people, the rules of knowing how to live... No need to lock your door."
"She is crying for that ? Please."
After pouring himself a glass of whiskey, John collapsed on the couch, behind the kid who was staring at the computer, still sobbing. Over her shoulder, he could see that she was exploring the world via Google Map. Strange reason to cry. He closed his eyes, hoping to sleep a bit, while Billie continued to look for other protections to add to her house and Rachel was busy with her explorations.
"I do not understand." she said, turning to him, reducing his chances of napping to nothing.
"What ?" he mumbled, keeping his eyes closed.
"This world is beautiful, really beautiful. Why does my father want to destroy it ?"
"Lulu wants to destroy men, because they are assholes, do you remember ? And also because he was jealous that his dad had new favorites, who were not as good as him. So, by proving that humans are evil, recovering their souls, and burning the world, he takes revenge and proves that he was right. "
"Human beings are not all bad. I do not want this place to be destroyed, I want to stay here."
Okay, bad plan. Without saying anything, Constantine got up to join Billie Dean Howard, because it was urgent that she recovered her computer and that she showed Rachel that the world was ugly and uninteresting.
"Why ?" she wondered.
"Because she sticks in. She wants to stay."
"Yes, since her arrival John."
"Not at all, she did not want to go back with her brothers, but she had no idea how Earth was, it was a vague idea, something totally unknown, so it did not matter if she was did not stay. But now she loves the world, she really loves it and when she's going to have to leave, because I'm sorry to tell you that despite all my efforts, despite all my will, I already know we're going to fail, it will be a nightmare for her, because she will know what she has lost, she will be able to compare the life she has in Hell and the life she may have here. You needlessly torture her. Take back your computer."
John's aggressive tone seemed to surprise the medium, but she smiled, sadly, understanding that he just wanted to protect Rachel, even though he could not do anything else to help her. He returned to the living room to take the computer, patting the girl's head, who was looking at him without understanding. Then Constantine went then to lock himself in the guest room, to sleep a little.

5 Reasons why Supernatural is not queer baiting you [and is not stuck in the closet]
This is an edited repost.
Interpretation of any piece of art and literature is one of the fun aspects of being human. You use your imagination to analyze a loved work from every angle so as to increase your pleasure of said work. However, if you present your interpretation as if it is a fact, and it results in harassment, bullying and threats for actors involved in a show, then it becomes a problem. Why do some fans accuse Supernatural of queer baiting, whilst others are vehemently opposed? Why is it not a universal argument in fandom? It is because the former don’t admit that their interpretations are just that: interpretation. Bi Dean arguments have no basis in canon, and proponents of Bi Dean in fact refuse to acknowledge canonical oppositions to their interpretations. The vehement opposers of Bi Dean actually respect canon. Truth is universal and canon is truth.
1. Dean was not born from gratuitously bisexual inspiration
As a fiction writer myself, I know that an original character is not easy to put together. You have to do a character analysis [I believe in using a homemade template, myself], character background [because it should shape what the character becomes in the current canon] and formulation of their physical attributes as well as wardrobe. I, in fact, include things like medical history and diet choices in my own template to get a feel for the character that I want. But every writer is different and chooses a different approach. Eric Kripke had a clear idea of what he wanted his characters to be.
For the character personalities
Kripke wanted them to be like Han Solo and Luke Skywalker. Han Solo was a cavalier renegade who had no respect for authority and fits in with Dean’s overall personality. Dean doesn’t care if he is talking to an FBI agent, a priest or even his own father. If you say something wrong, he will correct you and he has done that in canon. If you have given him a reason to hate you, trust Dean to let you know, right to your face. Dean doesn’t kiss up to authority. He is the quintessential bad boy.
Luke Skywalker is the polar opposite of Han. He does things by the book. He wears his heart on his sleeve and shows more empathy and emotion than his counterpart Han. Sam is all of this and, like Luke, gives off an air of innocence, and sporadically the viewer feels the need to protect him because of said innocence. Despite the fact that Sam has grown up and out of his chocolate boy features, he still remains the quintessential good boy.
There are many tropes at play here that fiction writers cling to. The polar opposite trope is favored because it provides room for friction. Imagine how Supernatural would be, if Dean and Sam just agreed with each other all the time. It would make for bland viewing. Sometimes they are on the same page. Some times they aren’t. Polarizing characters make for more vivid story telling and [particularly in our fandom] forces you to pick a side. In other words, it keeps you invested in the characters. The polar opposite trope can also be used for two enemies who are stuck in the same situation. And in some cases, one of them is the overall baddie in the story. It is not just a friendship trope.
Another well known trope that is being used here, is the much-loved buddy formula. The buddy formula is used by a lot by screenwriters, because it is so popular with audiences, and can share similarities with the polar opposite trope. Essentially the buddy formula contains two characters and even though they may be polar opposites, they tend to have a deep affection for each other. Cagney and Lacey, Riggs and Murtaugh, Thelma and Louis and finally, Sam and Dean are example thereof.
At this juncture, I would like to laughingly point out that Bi Dean advocates will cling to Thelma and Louis as proof of bi dean, because of the possible lesbian subtext. Stop right there. I watched Thelma and Louis, and I felt that they were fed up friends, almost sisters who didn’t want to live in the world any more. I didn’t see any subtext. If you did, good for you. It increases your viewing pleasure. However, as a straight woman, I have my own interpretation and it is just as significant as yours. Hilariously, Sam and Dean have referred to themselves as Thelma and Louis. So you cant use that to proof Dean is bi, because essentially you will be proving wincest.
The difference between the buddy formula and the polar opposite trope is the affection that is inherently mixed into the buddy formula. Buddies are more affectionate with each other. In one of the Lethal Weapon movies, Riggs walks into Murtaugh’s kitchen, plants a kiss on Mrs Murtaugh’s cheek, walks up to Murtaugh and nonchalantly plants a kiss on his cheek as well, before going to raid the food storage. Murtaugh doesn’t react negatively. That scene was added for many reasons but there are two important reasons: [1] to show the affection between the two, which is platonic [2] to get a laugh out of the audience by showing how irritatingly unaware Riggs is, that Murtaugh is angry with him.
Murtaugh even “sensed” that Riggs was drowning and saved him, telling Riggs “I heard you, Riggs. I heard you, baby.’‘ Yes, that is an actual line from Lethal Weapon and it proves that they love each other. How you perceive their love is up to you. Affectionate name calling is used in the buddy formula and is also apparent in Sam and Dean’s interaction as well.
Is Cas an affectionate shortening of the name Castiel? Both Dean and Sam call him Cas? Maybe. Or it maybe because the name Castiel doesn’t syllabically roll off the tongue. It’s an ancient name and for modern day Sam and Dean, saying the full name is verbally cumbersome. So they opted for Cas. If the shortening of the name means Dean is in love with Cas, then it easily means Sam is in love with Cas too. Oddly, despite the character name of Samuel being shortened to Sam, by Dean so it will roll of the tongue during a conversation, Dean actually adds a syllable and called him Sammy out of affection. So for Sammy, the ’'name is too long and cumbersome’' excuse flies out the window. Sammy gets used even when Dean is in a hurry, angry or affectionate. It is a part of his personal lexicon.
For the character backdrop
Part of Kripke’s logline for Supernatural and its backdrop included “Star Wars in truck stop America,”. Another trope comes into play here: The fish out of water. In earlier seasons, the studious and preppy Sam clashed with the dustbowl Americana surroundings and its people. Dean fit in. Dean is salt of the earth. Sam is more aware of the world beyond the dustbowl Americana because he is an intellectual. Another part of the logline was ’'X Files meets Route 66”. Route 66 is about two guys [Todd, the Yale graduate good boy and Buz, the street smart fighter bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks] who go on a road trip across North America, encountering and solving social problems along the way, while trying to find a place to settle and find how they themselves fit into their world. Kripke picked very accurate loglines for Supernatural, because Todd and Buz are exactly like Sam and Dean. But they had names that Kripke didn’t like. I don’t blame him.
For the character names
Bi Dean advocates always use the name Dean as being proof of Bi Dean. Kripke chose both the names of his main characters from Jack Kerouac’s Beat Generation classic On the road. it is not an LGBT classic. It was a universal classic that just happened to have a bisexual character. The characters were Dean Moriarty and Sal Paradise. That is all he took from the work. He didn’t take the road trip idea from On the road. He took it from Route 66. Even the polarizing characters were taken from Route 66. All he took was the names, and even then, he wasn’t happy with Sam’s previous name so he changed one alphabet. He took nothing else. And that is the one thing Bi Dean advocates cling to. There is no unique similarity between On the road and Supernatural. Or between Dean Winchester and Dean Moriarty, for that matter, other than one character sharing a name with another. I can understand why he stuck with Dean. The name just has an All-American ring to it.
Bi Dean advocates argue that the bisexual Dean Moriarity was inspired by a real bisexual man called Neal Cassidy. What they fail to realize is that Moriarity and Cassidy were not only bisexual but also pedophiles. Dean Winchester is not a pedophile.
Don't dig into Kerouac’s character's backstory to try and prove that Dean from Supernatural is bi, whilst ignoring the backstory of Supernatural own formulation. That is called over reaching, and some fans use this unsteady theory to threaten the leads and plant accusations of bigotry. Jensen has received online abuse for this and his reputation is completely tarnished with accusations of homophobia.
2. Castiel’s wardrobe choice does not reflect on Dean’s sexual orientation
I remember watching a scene from That’s 70’s Show, where Fez confessed to having an erotic dream about Kelso. Kelso is shocked and declares “Do you know what this means? Its means I’m gay”. This fandom is proof, that Kelso is not unique in his stupidity. Our fandom has a rich supply of ignorance, conveniently shrouded in social justice, so that when you successfully contradict them, they can just call you a bigot and quieten you down.
For Castiel, Kripke only took wardrobe inspiration from John Constantine, a famous bisexual character. That is it. He took nothing else. Trenchcoats are wardrobe items and not a sign of an individual’s sexuality. Constantine was bisexual. Columbo was straight but also wore a trenchcoat. There is no unique similarity between Castiel and Constantine. Constantine is a man, an occult detective, a humanitarian and is best known for his sarcasm. Does that sound like Castiel to you? Castiel is an angel [a very useless one], a killer of many innocent people, a displacer of angels and very rarely says something mildly sarcastic. And if the trench coat makes Castiel bi, how does that reflects on Dean?
3. Castiel’s sexual orientation is not complex, neither is it reflective of Dean’s sexuality
Castiel is not human, and therefore is not shackled by human limitations. He is not even a “he”. He doesn’t have any preferences, nor does he canonically have any sexual desire except for Meg, whom he willingly kissed. But that might be borne out of his love for her and her relentless pursuit of him. His bond with Meg was not sexual. When he became human, sexual desire awoken in him and he slept with a woman merely because she hit on him and he was curious. But he doesn’t do that in his angel state. He doesn’t seek out sex in his angel state because he has no human, physical desire. Canonically, he doesn’t even have a soul, so how he and Dean can be seen as soul mates baffles me. Nobody else has relentlessly pursued Castiel accept Meg. Dean hasn’t. Dean kicked him out of the bunker despite the fact that he was vulnerable because Sam’s host Gadreel had a problem with him. Dean doesn’t love Castiel, nor does Dean pursue him. He looks for Sammy when Sammy is missing, but doesn’t do that for Castiel. Dean doesn’t sympathize with Castiel’s pain, even telling Castiel once “nobody cares that you are broken”.
4. Dean cannot, textually, be interpreted as a bisexual unless you relinquish common sense
Most of the canon examples of bi dean can easily be explained away.
Dean is not giving Charlie flirting pointers because he has hit on men before. He is himself a man, and know what he wants to hear from a woman and what would get him interested or distracted. By the end of the scene, both Dean and Charlie who like women and not men, felt dirty. And Sammy laughed through the whole thing because he knew how uncomfortable his brother was. Because Sammy, who was raised by Dean, knows his brother. Dean wont keep his bisexuality from Sam, because he has no reason to. Sam is not narrow-minded.
In the context of this scene, when Castiel just berated Dean, only a true intellectual maverick is going to think that Dean is inviting Castiel to a impromptu session of fellatio. Because that would make sense for the whole vessel scene, wouldn’t it, geniuses. For people, who are not soaked in delusion, Dean is countering Castiel’s berating with disrespect because he is angry. I cant believe this needs to be explained because “blow me” is a popular colloquial slang, used to insult someone. Have none of the bi dean advocates ever heard that term before? Do they think “scr*w yourself” means “Go and masturbate right now”? Which rock to they live under?
Dean is not flirting with the sheriff here. He is drunk. There is a reason, a drunk person’s testimony doesn’t fly in court. You don’t take a drunk person seriously. The deputy isn’t flirting back either. He is just amused by the compliment which he didn’t earn or deserve. He even asks Sam beforehand if the other “agent” is drunk. He is probably amused by a drunk, anxious agent hanging around the station.
The gif is wrong. He didn’t say hi. He said doctor. I am touchy about this one because Jensen got a death threat over it. The idea that a man can only be a fan of a male celebrity because he wants to sleep with the male celebrity, is completely insulting and a failure to understand male psychology. Dean’s flustered facial expression here is used for two reasons. [1] that is how some fans, both male and female behave, and [2] its hilarious to watch Dean fanboying. This is a humor device and nothing else. Even blushing is not a sign of attraction. If your teacher compliments your work in front of the entire class, and you blush, does it mean that you are in love with Mrs Haggerty from Science Lab?
Ah, the birth of Performing!Dean. Performing!Dean doesn’t exist. He has no reason to. Because Dean has no motivation to stay in the closet and hide his supposedly feminine bisexual self behind a toxic masculine façade. Sam is not giving us clues of Dean’s bisexuality. He is taunting his big brother because that is what obnoxious little brothers do. Remember, the hotelier thought that they both were gay. Sam only picked on Dean here, because only Dean has an issue with it. He isn’t a homophobe but a proud straight man.
Dean doesn’t care about the human state of the world. He doesn’t care about human issues like racism, sexism and the lgbt. He will categorize you as a human being and protect you, if you gave him a reason to. He doesn’t care how you look, which way you swing, and how you pray. If you give him a reason to like you, he will like you. If you give him a reason to hate you, he will hate you. Dean will only care if you are useful to him in his hunt. The hunt is his life and his motivation to hunt is Sam and keeping Sam close and safe. Dean is not pro or anti anything. If you are human, you matter. That is why de-graced Castiel is left out of hunts, because without any power, Cas is “basically a baby in a trenchcoat”, in other words, utterly useless to them. But if Sam’s wall breaks, hold the phone.
He doesn’t judge your sexual orientation. He has worked with gay and bi people before, like Charlie and the gay hunting couple. So he is not a bigot. However he isn’t used to men hitting on him. He almost throws up because the Chief from the BDSM club [Criss Angel is a douchebag] describes what he is planning to do to Dean and asks for a safe word, and he is flustered by Aaron because he doesn’t know how to react. He wasn’t expecting Aaron to tell that very clever lie. He didn’t bother telling Aaron he was straight. Of course, bi Dean advocates think that is significant, and how he closed his badge is also significant.
It is. It shows that Dean is compassionate. He was ready to punch Aaron in the face for following him. But when Aaron lies about being attracted to Dean, Dean lets him down easily. What was he supposed to say to a man he thinks he will never meet again: “Look dude, I am not queer. We didn’t have any moment.’' Dean quietly packs away his badge, because he realized that he brandished it at the wrong person. Another reason is that Dean is an arrogant man when it comes to his looks and doesn’t mind a compliment. So he isn’t going to break the heart of the person complimenting him. He is compassionate but he has an ego. That is why he was disappointed that Aaron had successfully fooled him by inflating his ego. Because he did it so easily and Dean must have wanted to kick himself for falling for it.
Dean being born in the Bible Belt of America means nothing. His father was an atheist. He was too, until he came face to face with an angel. He acknowledges the Divine exists, but he believes in free will. He spent most of his life, traipsing around America. Its not like he stuck it out in the Bible belt area. He has no religious reason to be in the closet. He raised Sam and Sam isn’t a bigot, so Sam wont have a problem with him being bisexual. Dean has no motivation to hide himself from Sam because, in many ways, Sam is his child and knows him. If Dean was bi, Sam would have figured it out.
Dean is sexually not a vanilla person when it comes to sex, and despite where he was born, he is a sexually outspoken, kinky, loudmouth who admits to wearing his date’s underwear, not because he is feminine, but because he is a kinky little dirt bag who will do anything the date says, so he can close the deal with her. Wearing her underwear is not proof that he is bisexual, because there are bisexual men who don’t wear women’s clothing and this is insulting to them.
5. Dean and Castiel do not make a better couple than any of their love interests
Castiel had only one genuine love interest. Meg. And this union between two polar opposite characters in human vessels, is certainly more compelling than the blank stares that Dean and Castiel shared until their screen time decreased, much to Jensen’s happiness. Meg took care of Castiel despite being a demon. Dean kicked Castiel out of the bunker for Sam’s benefit. Meg pursued Castiel. Dean let Castiel to swop places mentally with Sam, so Sam could leave the asylum, safe and healthy, whilst Castiel remained in the asylum, broken and damaged. He never pursued Castiel or took care of him.
Dean only had one girlfriend. And she was Cassie. The name Cassie does not foreshadow destiel. Cassie didn’t work out because she was far too involved in worldly things like racism and he cared about the supernatural world. She was an intellectual and he was a high school drop out. She is actually a lot like Sam, and they would actually make sense as a couple. Dean never loved Lisa. Canonically, he only shacked up with her, because Sam forced him. And when Lisa realized that, she let him go.
Castiel and Dean don’t make sense as a couple because Castiel has lied to Dean about many things. There are some things he hasn’t come clean about, to Sam and Dean, e.g. opening up the Panic Room door and letting Sam free. He used the mixed tape to double cross Dean, so the mixed tape is a proof of Castiel’s betrayal. It is not proof of destiel. The whole Leviatian affair is Castiel’s fault. And although Dean does take Castiel like a brother, canonically, he wont sell his soul for Castiel, like he did for Sammy. Using slowed down gifs of Dean and Cas staring blankly at each other, doesn’t proof that Dean is bisexual. Every time Dean stares at a man, its doesn’t mean he is attracted to that person.
The show is not queer baiting you by leaving subtextual easter eggs in the frame. They don’t have time for that. Because they average one episode a week. They are working at a break neck speed. They don’t have the time to indulge fannish nonsense. Everyone associated with the show have said that Dean is not bi. I don’t mind you interpreting, but when you force it on Jensen and threaten him when he doesn’t like it, you are being a vile and disgusting predatory beast. The only person who is reinforcing destiel, claimed at Jaxcon that Dean is bisexual and is queer baiting you is Misha Collins. Go take it up with him.

Modern Science and Modern Evangelical Christianity: Strange Bedfellows
Many bloggers and media pundits seem to suggest that “science” and “religion” (and by “religion” they usually mean Christianity) are opposite forces that are at complete odds with each other. Well-known celebrity science advocate Bill Nye’s new TV show is all about promoting science and “defending” it from the “anti-scientific claims of religious leader.” As a Christian myself, not only do I believe that there is no contradiction between scientific fact and Biblical truth (as opposed to scientific theory vs. speculations about Scripture), I also believe that the quest for truth – whether through scientific exploration or theological study and reflection – is always something God delights in. All truth is God’s truth, and both 2+2=4 AND John 3:16 are equally valid, even if the methods for discovering the truth are different. But I find it fascinating that there are two big issues in which both scientists and evangelical Christians seem to be stuck together in the same boat.
The first is this: (1) who speaks for either group? The Roman Catholic Church has a big advantage over the rest of the Christian family, as they have the Pope who is the only one authorized to speak on matters of theology, doctrine or practice. But for evangelical Protestants, who speaks for them? Pat Robertson? Franklin Graham? Joel Osteen? Rick Warren? Paula White? All of them are people the media will go to for a quote. But while there is a broad consensus among Christians on the main issues of the faith (salvation, Lordship of Christ, etc.), when it comes to secondary issues (baptism, interpretation of Revelation, speaking in tongues, etc.) or hot-button political/social issues like abortion and same-sex marriage, there are many different answers you might get to these questions. No one person speaks for all Protestant evangelical Christians. And when the media reports that Christians disagree on some things, it leads a lot of people to believe that Christians don’t agree on ANYTHING. Now, if you can get past the profanity, crude sex jokes and unrelated tangents, watch John Oliver’s show from last season on “Scientific Studies” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Rnq1NpHdmw) and you see the same dynamic at play. Every week, there is a report in the media on a new “scientific study” about a food or some product that will either (a) give you cancer, (b) prevent cancer (c) help you lose weight, (d) make you fat, or (e) any combination thereof. It’s no wonder, as Oliver notes, that so many people distrust “science” when it all seems so contradictory. At one point, he angrily berates Al Roker for suggesting that people “just pick the scientific study that works for you” (in all fairness, Roker probably said it in jest) by shouting: “No! In science, you don’t get to cherry pick the parts that justify what you were going to do anyway!” That’s what religion does!” And he’s right! – or at least, he’s right about how many humans approach religion (i.e., cherry picking the parts of the Bible that they already agree with while ignoring the others). So, if science is not this big monolith, with all scientist moving in lockstep, who “speaks for science”? Well, just like evangelical Christianity, people like Bill Nye, Neil DeGrasse Tyson and others are jockeying for position, trying to get the most media face time, and hoping to be the official spokesman. But, both sides are facing an uphill battle.
The second issue that both groups are facing is this: (2) when either science or Christianity gets in bed with politics, the search for truth becomes secondary. Politics is all about, as Charlie Sheen used to say, WINNING. It’s all about your side winning the debate, shouting down your opponent, and making your side look good and the other side look bad. And that unfortunately is what both evangelical Christians and scientists have been doing for the last several decades. Early on in the history of the Church, Christianity was outlawed by the Roman Empire but despite its suppression, it grew exponentially even though the followers of Jesus risked their lives by doing so. But then, the emperor Constantine made Christianity the official religion of the state, and overnight, Christians went from persecuted to favored status. Suddenly, Christian leaders and teachers were members of the emperor's court, and got caught up in palace intrigue and king-making instead of sharing their faith -- something we've struggled with in many Western countries ever since. So many evangelical Christians give their blind allegiance to either the Democrat or Republican parties hoping that the trade-off will be more power and prestige (regardless of whether or not the party fully espouses Christian virtues). And in the same way, many scientists have aligned themselves with political movements and given them their full allegiance without taking into consideration other studies and other potential conflicting data. Many scientists, having been goaded into support global warming as a political issue rather than as a scientific inquiry, are now so fully immersed in their political position that they won't stop to consider any conflicting data (as we saw from the “Climategate” scandal several years ago). Rather than searching for scientific truth and trying to educate the public about the dangers of damaging the earth’s ozone layer, instead it's all about proving that “Al Gore was right and his Republican opponents were wrong!” and shouting “DENIER!” at anyone who questions them. But when you try to ask these scientists “what can we do help stop global warming?” it's like they don't care about what we can do to fix it. All they seem to care about is being right and winning the debate.
Personally, I don’t know if the scientific data available has convinced me that every time there is a record high temperature somewhere in the world it is the result of man-made global warming as opposed to circular weather patterns. But, I also don't need for the former to ultimately be true for me to be convinced that pumping lots of fluorocarbons into the atmosphere is bad and it's going to wreak havoc on the environment. I also don't know if I believe that either the Democrat or Republican Party is “more Christian” than the other and deserves our full allegiance. But, I believe that even if we don't choose sides, we could still work together to make a huge difference in this world. It would be great if both scientists and evangelicals could put down their guns and knives and poison pixels on the internet and start listening to one another and working together the solve some of the bigger problems in this world. Because when it comes down to it, we are both pursuers of Truth.

Fear in the unknown episode 2

The image that is used for this story is not my property all to its respective creator.
I think this is weird? The curse is affecting me too fast. This made me a little nervous. This made me very nervous it is assumed that the curse affects me from 15 but for some reason it begins to affect at 13 years I do not know what to say I know what to do with this I just think that I. I am the reason we die again and again. What I can do is enjoy this new life with my brothers.
the only thing that worries me is that. What if now the curse affects us from the age of 13 I do not think that this will be the case in the end I plan to leave the house and leave my brothers with our adoptive parents
I think it's a bad idea but they want water I have no other idea the only thing I know is that I should leave so as not to get in the way. The birthday of my middle-time brother is approaching before leaving I leave him a small gift for when I left I am already in the streets of the city
While I am walking in the streets of New York meanwhile I will be walking I saw a guy in a long trench coat, formal shirt with red tie, black pants, blonde with facial hair. While taking a puff of smoke from the cigar he carries. He just looks at the horizon and then talks.
. . . : Tonight if it looks very beautiful don't you think so? The stars are so aligned forming a whirlpool. What do you think girl?
Melvin: I do not believe that if you see something beautiful
. . . : Anyway, I think so. You are right. Hey girl why are you alone? I say it's not that I care so much but I'm made to be alone and more at this time of tomorrow
Melvin : It's nothing important it's just an unimportant thing it's kind of stupid what I'm doing
. . . : But everyone in life does stupid things without knowing why we just do it and already
Melvin : I think you're largely right but it's still something I don't think you can help me.
Melvin : Mmm I do not believe it sir what I have I do not think it can be solved believe me there was already a person who tried and ended badly
. . . : Let's at least let him try maybe figure out some method to solve your problem you say?
Melvin: Haaa good is fine. At least I can know your name you sir?
john: Oh yes true but nothing lord please makes me feel old you just tell me john Constantine or just john as you prefer girl
Melvin: Well mine is melvin Modlin
john: Mmm with which modlin eh? I think to see heard that surname somewhere mmm na must be a crazy coincidence oh mmm hey girl you have somewhere where you can stay ? If you want you can come with me if you prefer
melvin: Did you know that anyone can misinterpret what you tell me as a kind of kidnapping right?
John: Mmm you are right is better to leave and leave you here on the street without anything to eat, rest or shower
melvin: Hey I didn't say you had to leave me your badly repaired moflette body with leakage
John: Hey no insults either ok
Melvin: Well, not waters that say it as for example not abandoning me
John: Well let's leave that better let's go I'm very tired and I'm not in walking much
Now our bad luck duo with a shitty life are leaving that place heading to their home. What's in store for these two in the future will have to find out later.

Matt Ryan || John Constantine || 35 || Male || Liverpool, England || Exorcist / Demonologist / Mage || Unregistered || PLAYED BY BIGGLES
biography:
John Constantine’s life has not been a happy one. His mother died giving birth to him, and he suffered an abusive childhood at the hands of his alcoholic father. In the hopes of escaping this existence, when John was a teenager he started to read everything he could on the occult, spells, and rituals. Shortly thereafter, he left home for good, taking his new-found knowledge on the road to see how he could best put it to use. That use turned out to be mostly for good, as John found himself a niche fighting the powers of darkness and investigating strange incidents and crimes.
However, he overestimated his skills in his quest to save a little girl named Astra who was possessed by a demon. John summoned a stronger demon in an attempt to free her, but he lost control of said demon who then dragged the girl’s soul to Hell. Badly shaken by this, John checked himself into an asylum in the hopes of recovering from the Newcastle incident. But as time went on, he realized that in order to stay sane he would have to quite literally face his demons, not only for his own well-being, but for the well-being of humanity. So John checked himself out of the asylum and has continued on his quest to fend off evil and darkness around the world.
Most recently, he has traveled to New York, looking for otherworldly demons to banish. Upon arrival, however, John found that there were problems of a more humanly sort which were taking precedence. The Accords were just the sort of governmental rot that never seemed to really solve anything, and despite not having been approached by anyone, John vowed he would refuse if the time ever came. He had much better things to do than sign up with some Yankee task force, so John decided to keep on doing what he does best–lurk in the shadows and deal under the table. And keep kicking demons’ arses, of course.

If there’s one thing RPG’s and side scrolling beat’em-ups have taught me, it’s that if your health is low, you should feel free to eat turkey legs you find laying on the ground. Or is it that hordes of random thugs will accost you and after you defeat them you face their boss? No, no, wait... It’s that you become a better, more well-rounded individual the more thugs or monsters you beat up!
Sadly, that approach doesn’t actually solve many problems.
So where are we going with this? Not one-hundred percent sure, except to maybe make a reader believe they’re looking at the opening monologue of a Fight Club fanfic (Is that a thing? Now I’m curious...).
(insert record scratch sound)
Just erased a couple paragraphs that really didn’t need to be there. I have never been able to decide if blogs are really best at being publicly digested, or as a non-committal sounding board, or as an emotional punching bag. I think I tend to waiver between all three of those, since it always feels like my brain is ready to burst with random thoughts, feelings, and bright ideas, but trying to contain them becomes taxing. If you saw the TV show Legion (which was AWESOME, in case you didn’t; and IF you didn’t, WHY NOT?!), and I’m certainly not trying to compare myself to someone who suffers from actual real-world dementia, but if you look at the great pains it took David (our protagonist) to keep his head silent and focused, that’s kind of what it feels like. I’m sure most people could make the statement that they feel the pressures of reality setting in, but I don’t know that Private Snuffy from back on the block spends a not-inconsiderable amount of time contemplating the variables of existence.
That sounds much more grandiose that I should be giving myself credit for, much like John Constantine in the very first episode of his TV series (”That does say ‘master,’ doesn’t it? I should change that to ‘petty dabbler.’ I do hate to put on airs.”)
What? You’ve never done that? You’ve never thought about how life could be different? I don’t just mean “oh, if only I’d gotten that home run in eighth grade” (yes, that’s a reference to Mr. Destiny starring Jim Belushi. I have no idea why that movie is permanently in my cache memory, but it is). I mean looking at every major life event and how each one leads to what is now. Then there’s not just looking at the past, looking at the myriad configurations your life could have previously taken, but then there’s the future. Oh, the pitfalls and possibilities...
Suffice to say, getting lost in these thoughts is like binge-reading fanfic of your favorite TV show. It’s terribly fun, but afterwards you’re left with the reality that you were trying to get away from (I’m looking at YOU, Buffy season four!).
Damn, this turned dark like the original ending of Clerks... Okay, no, not quite that bad.
Where are these thoughts supposed to go? Is this why people take up meditation? Or medication, as the case may be? Does putting thoughts on paper really help purge them, or does it just serve as a physical catalog of internal recrimination?
I’d love to hear how others deal with this, but how on earth does one begin to describe a multiverse trapped in their own head?
...
...
Jeeze, proof-reading this makes it sound like an excerpt from Documentary Now, season two, "Parker Gail's Location Is Everything.”

Grace v Lordship: Proper v Follower viz Poetry, Spirit, and Kingship
Note: This is in prep for upcoming changes to my longer Doctrinal Statement and may be revised.
– I had a professor in one of my two Hermeneutics classes and the Gospel of John who was in the Grace Theological Society, Dr. John Hart. – I grew up under a Lordship Theology -trained pastor. Dr. Gerhard T. deBock, but experienced a nice contrast with the Church of God with my grandmother during my younger childhood years, which my childhood church didn’t really know much about. – I also visited many other Christian fellowships across the North and Midwest, which I wrote about in my Crossroads series. – My primary understanding of both comes from studying under their avid evangelists and in life and conversation, not merely through literature nor as a third-hand follower. – Tenants of “Grace” Proper (not extra teachings spread by fans & followers of Grace Theology who tend to use it as a license to sin) is mainly theoretical: In theory, sin does not remove salvation, which is by faith, not by perfect obedience to works. They define “repentance” as “changing one’s mind at a core, worldview level”. Their main point is essentially that we can’t lose our salvation. – Tenants of “Lordship” Proper (not the extra teachings spread by the fans & followers who tend to tone it down when it seems too extreme) is mainly behavioral: In practice, ongoing, conscious sin in a Believer’s life with no concern whatsoever is an indication that that Believer might not have become a Christian, but still can. They define “repentance” as both mental and emotional and teach “radical repentance”, missing the point that over-defining emotions makes a kind of volitional repentance (emotional theatrics) and that the decision to believe Jesus usually catches us by surprise to such a point that we have no control over how “radical” our repentance is. Lordship usually teaches that salvation can be lost, but more as a concession, redirecting conversation to the likelihood that a Christian who appears to “lose salvation” probably was not a real Christian to begin with. – Both groups feel that they want to agree at some level. Both question whether they are only debating semantics. Both eventually agree that it is about more than semantics, but lifestyle and quality of happiness in Christ. – The two seem to be offspring of Calvinism and Arminianism, and are post- Millard J. Erickson, which is why I prefer his book, Christian Theology. – Both of them have powerful truths that don’t necessarily need to conflict. – Grace, though it often leads to it among followers, does not want lawlessness and strongly objects to “Grace as a license to sin”. – Lordship, though it often leads to it among followers, does not want legalism and strongly objects to “Works-based salvation”. – The general problem, in my conclusion, is over-analysis. – It is interesting that their primary circuits are in Bible Church communities (likely to believe that Baptism of the Holy Spirit is not a second work, but happens at Christian conversion.) Presence in Pentecostal and Charismatic circles (Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a second work, post Christian conversion, usually through laying on of hands) rarely reflects the original tenants of either Grace of Lordship and behaves more like the extra ideas added by fans and followers. – I believe that these both result from a combination of genuine love for Jesus in a believer who has not received the second work of baptism. It seems like the man who tries to manufacture an android female companion until he falls in love with a real woman. – In their over-analysis, both of them miss the point that humans instinctively use the term “repent” correctly, even with no theological, Biblical, Christian, or any kind of religious background at all. We know what it means. It’s emotional. It is both cooperative and involuntary. It is a “come to Jesus moment” about whatever truth is on the table. It is that moment that hits us where we say, “What have I done!” And, above all, it is beyond any definition except to say that repentance is repentance. Such emotional-poetic forms of explanation usually seem uncomfortable when trying to over-analyze. Still, this mistake of over-analysis is well-intended and not malicious, at least from the the Grace and Lordship Proper theologians themselves. – The basic solution to Grace v Lordship is the paradigm that Jesus is Bridegroom, King, and Judge. The Bible refers to these three paradigms to describe Jesus quite often. He can judge us because he is our friend. That’s what a king involves. He is not a Lord only. He is not a grace-giver only. He is our king, which means both friend and judge, and he has the authority to help and save. – The best-kept secret among both Grace and Lordship is the benefit of works. God’s commands make perfect sense, though not always to us in our situations. God’s law liberates us (Ps 119:32). His command is love and life. By making wise and moral choices, quality of life will be better. Thus, the bigger question is not whether we can or cannot sin and be Christian, but the Christian question is whether we can sin and remain happy. Both Grace and Lordship Proper teachers seem to agree to this, but rarely say so since their main focus seems to be on detailed analysis. Again, by over-analyzing, they miss another point: The Bible is not an analytical-academic work, it is poetic, whether in prose or in content. – The essential problem with both Grace and Lordship is that they are over-analytical rather than poetic. And, most of the problems in the Church do not come from Proper Grace or Lordship teachings, but from followers and fans of each who, not being as heavily trained in developing Biblical and Systematic-Bible Theology just don’t understand what the academic authors are really trying to get at. I, however, understand them perfectly and I love them all in both groups. I just pray they can find that second work of poetry and Spirit so that their good message might finally come across.
Can Christians continue in ongoing sin? (Just look at Sunday Morning.) – Of course they can. To say otherwise would indite everyone who attends Sunday Morning… – Living off of Christian donations, but not in a commune or as guests on the mission field. (We have come to accept a local resident of what the Shepherd of Hermes called ‘Christ mongers’.) – The scandal of disunity during the most segregated and unbiblically territorial hour of the week. – So many theological disagreements that would be solved if we merely applied Matt 18:15ff and James 1:19 to our denominational differences. – Essentially, Christian divisiveness and concern about “retaining local congregation membership” wouldn’t exist if pastors didn’t live off of donations—a practice neither demonstrated nor encouraged in the New Testament. Paul’s teaching of “payment” was not for a leader, but for deacons (Operations Employees). – The sad part is that we care so little about Christian fellowship, except for our small group of friends, that we gladly tolerate the widespread mutual spite in the Church and walls that inhibit more fellowship. We easily say, “It’s not perfect, but it is where we are.” But, with all the stronger friendships we could share in Christ, the current Sunday Morning system is not merely imperfect, it is a travesty that needs to be ended as soon as possible. – Back to the “necessary evil” argument about the problems with the Constantine-initiated clerical and non-profit structures we mandate today, they may be evil but they are anything but necessary. – So much sin is tolerated in the Church. Even with all the vomit spilled on Rob Bell (rather than Don Carson’s benevolent and charitable ‘communicative’ approach to potentially errant doctrine), Christian “professionals” (a Biblical oxymoron, given that Jesus and Paul had a trade) would rather that someone submit to and agree with Rob Bell as a pastor, rather than be a Christian who disagreed with Rob Bell and followed Biblical teaching, but without “submitting” to a paid, State-licensed clergy. It is clear where the “professionalism” culture in the Church has misguided our priorities. If the organic and undocumented Christian life had more priority than State-licensed “church” membership, perhaps there wouldn’t be so much widespread immorality in the Church universal. – The only reason I advocate a delay in the inevitable transition away from Sunday Morning is to avoid even more of the same broken fellowship that is no less than intolerable. I don’t advocate leaving Sunday Morning quickly, but no one, under any circumstances, should advocate staying aboard when the time comes to abandon the sinking ship. – Grace v Lordship and similar controversies, arguably, might not exist were it not for the divisive and misguided priorities of the Constantine-implemented territorial clerical system.
Can Christians live without Sunday Morning?
– Of course they can. They did before Constantine.
– Without the crutch, Christians need to learn to walk on their own.
– They must read the Bible seriously and daily.
– They must take initiative to maintain meaningful Christian fellowship, without a nanny to make sure it happens on autopilot.
– They must take personal responsibility for failures, confess their sins and faults to each other, and keep a close connection with Jesus.
– When the strong Christian life becomes the responsibility of the individual Christian, not the responsibility of paid clergy, then Christians will not struggle so much to know the difference between Grace, Works, Faith, and Jesus Christ as our King.

5 Reasons why Supernatural is not queer baiting [and is not stuck in the closet]
It is because the former don't admit that their interpretations are just that: interpretation.
Han Solo was a cavalier renegade who had no respect for authority and fits in with Dean's overall personality. Dean doesn't care if he is talking to an FBI agent, a priest or even his own father. If you say something wrong, he will correct you and he has done that in canon. If you have given him a reason to hate you, trust Dean to let you know, right to your face. Dean doesn't kiss up to authority.
Some times they aren't.
I watched Thelma and Louis, and I felt that they were fed up friends, almost sisters who didn't want to live in the world any more. I didn't see any subtext.
In one of the Lethal Weapon movies, Riggs walks into Murtaugh's kitchen, plants a kiss on Mrs Murtaugh's cheek, walks up to Murtaugh and nonchalantly plants a kiss on his cheek as well, before going to raid the food storage. Murtaugh doesn't react negatively. That scene was added for many reasons but there are two important reasons: [1] to show the affection between the two, which is platonic [2] to get a laugh out of the audience by showing how irritatingly unaware Riggs is, that Murtaugh is angry with him.
Murtaugh even ''sensed'' that Riggs was drowning and saved him, telling Riggs ''I heard you, Riggs. I heard you, baby.'' Yes, that is an actual line from Lethal Weapon and it proves that they love each other. How you perceive their love is up to you. Affectionate name calling is used in the buddy formula and is also apparent in Sam and Dean's interaction as well.
Is Cas an affectionate shortening of the name Castiel? Both Dean and Sam call him Cas? Maybe. Or it maybe because the name Castiel doesn't syllabically roll off the tongue. It's an ancient name and for modern day Sam and Dean, saying the full name is verbally cumbersome. So for Sammy, the ''name is too long and cumbersome'' excuse flies out the window. Sammy gets used even when Dean is in a hurry, angry or affectionate. It is a part of his personal lexicon.
For the character backdrop
Part of Kripke's logline for Supernatural and its backdrop included “Star Wars in truck stop America,”. Another part of the logline was ''X Files meets Route 66''. But they had names that Kripke didn't like. I don't blame him.
For the character names
Bi Dean advocates always use the name Dean as being proof of Bi Dean. Kripke chose both the names of his main characters from Jack Kerouac's Beat Generation classic On the road. it is not an LGBT classic. It was a universal classic that just happened to have a bisexual character. The characters were Dean Moriarty and Sal Paradise. That is all he took from the work. He didn't take the road trip idea from On the road. He took it from Route 66. Even the polarizing characters were taken from Route 66. All he took was the names, and even then, he wasn't happy with Sam's previous name so he changed one alphabet. He took nothing else. And that is the one thing Bi Dean advocates cling to. There is no unique similarity between On the road and Supernatural. Or between Dean Winchester and Dean Moriarty, for that matter, other than one character sharing a name with another.
Don't dig into Kerouac's character's backstory to try and prove that Dean from Supernatural is bi, whilst ignoring the backstory of Supernatural own formulation. That is called over reaching, and some fans use this unsteady theory to threaten the leads and plant accusations of bigotry. Jensen has received online abuse for this and his reputation is completely tarnished with accusations of homophobia.
2. Castiel's wardrobe choice does not reflect on Dean's sexual orientation
I remember watching a scene from That's 70's Show, where Fez confessed to having an erotic dream about Kelso. Kelso is shocked and declares ''Do you know what this means? Its means I'm gay''.
Trenchcoats are wardrobe items and not a sign of an individual's sexuality.
3. Castiel's sexual orientation is not complex, neither is it reflective of Dean's sexuality
Castiel is not human, and therefore is not shackled by human limitations. He is not even a ''he''. He doesn't have any preferences, nor does he canonically have any sexual desire except for Meg, whom he willingly kissed. But that might be borne out of his love for her and her relentless pursuit of him. His bond with Meg was not sexual. When he became human, sexual desire awoken in him and he slept with a woman merely because she hit on him and he was curious. But he doesn't do that in his angel state. He doesn't seek out sex in his angel state because he has no human, physical desire. Canonically, he doesn't even have a soul, so how he and Dean can be seen as soul mates baffles me. Nobody else has relentlessly pursued Castiel accept Meg. Dean hasn't. Dean kicked him out of the bunker despite the fact that he was vulnerable because Sam's host Gadreel had a problem with him. Dean doesn't love Castiel, nor does Dean pursue him. He looks for Sammy when Sammy is missing, but doesn't do that for Castiel. Dean doesn't sympathize with Castiel's pain, even telling Castiel once ''nobody cares that you are broken''.
Because that would make sense for the whole vessel scene, wouldn't it, geniuses. For people, who are not soaked in delusion, Dean is countering Castiel's berating with disrespect because he is angry. I cant believe this needs to be explained because ''blow me'' is a popular colloquial slang, used to insult someone. Have none of the bi dean advocates ever heard that term before? Do they think ''scr*w yourself'' means ''Go and masturbate right now''? Which rock to they live under?
Dean is not flirting with the sheriff here. He is drunk. There is a reason, a drunk person's testimony doesn't fly in court. You don't take a drunk person seriously. The deputy isn't flirting back either. He is just amused by the compliment which he didn't earn or deserve. He even asks Sam beforehand if the other ''agent'' is drunk. He is probably amused by a drunk, anxious agent hanging around the station.
The gif is wrong. He didn't say hi. He said doctor. I am touchy about this one because Jensen got a death threat over it. The idea that a man can only be a fan of a male celebrity because he wants to sleep with the male celebrity, is completely insulting and a failure to understand male psychology. Dean's flustered facial expression here is used for two reasons.
Performing!Dean doesn't exist. He has no reason to. Because Dean has no motivation to stay in the closet and hide his supposedly feminine bisexual self behind a toxic masculine façade. Sam is not giving us clues of Dean's bisexuality. He is taunting his big brother because that is what obnoxious little brothers do. Remember, the hotelier thought that they both were gay. Sam only picked on Dean here, because only Dean has an issue with it. He isn't a homophobe but a proud straight man.
Dean doesn't care about the human state of the world. He doesn't care about human issues like racism, sexism and the lgbt. He will categorize you as a human being and protect you, if you gave him a reason to. Exactly like Jensen. He doesn't care how you look, which way you swing, and how you pray. That is why de-graced is left out of hunts, because without any power, Cas is ''basically a baby in a trenchcoat'', in other words, utterly useless to them. But if Sam's wall breaks, hold the phone.
He doesn't judge your sexual orientation. He has worked with gay and bi people before, like Charlie and the gay hunting couple. So he is not a bigot. However he isn't used to men hitting on him. He almost throws up because the Chief from the BDSM club [Criss Angel is a douchebag] described what he is planning to do to Dean and asks for a safe word, and he is flustered by Aaron because he doesn't know how to react. He wasn't expecting Aaron to tell that very clever lie. He didn't bother telling Aaron he was straight. Of course, bi Dean advocates think that is significant, and how he closed his badge is also significant.
It is. It shows that Dean is compassionate. He was ready to punch Aaron in the face for following him. But when Aaron lies about being attracted to Dean, Dean lets him down easily. What was he supposed to say to a man he thinks he will never meet again: ''Look dude, I am not queer. We didn't have any moment.'' Dean quietly packs away his badge, because he realized that he brandished it at the wrong person. Another reason is that Dean is an arrogant man when it comes to his looks and doesn't mind a compliment. So he isn't going to break the heart of the person complimenting him.
He raised Sam and Sam isn't a bigot, so Sam wont have a problem with him being bisexual. Dean has no motivation to hide himself from Sam because, in many ways, Sam is his child and knows him. If Dean was bi, Sam would have figured it out.
Dean is sexually not a vanilla person when it comes to sex, and despite where he was born, he is a sexually outspoken, kinky, loudmouth who admits to wearing his date's underwear, not because he is feminine, but because he is a kinky little dirt bag who will do anything the date says, so he can close the deal with her. Wearing her underwear is not proof that he is bisexual, because there are bisexual men who don't wear women's clothing and this is insulting to them.
5. Dean and Castiel do not make a better couple than any of their love interests
Castiel had only one genuine love interest. Meg. And this union between two polar opposite characters in human vessels, is certainly more compelling than the blank stares that Dean and Castiel shared until their screen time decreased, much to Jensen's happiness. Meg took care of Castiel despite being a demon. Dean kicked Castiel out of the bunker for Sam's benefit.
Cassie didn't work out because she was far too involved in worldly things like racism and he cared about the supernatural world. She was an intellectual and he was a high school drop out. She is actually a lot like Sam, and they would actually make sense as a couple. Dean never loved Lisa. Canonically, he only shacked up with her, because Sam forced him. And when Lisa realized that, she let him go.
Castiel and Dean don't make sense as a couple because Castiel has lied to Dean about many things. There are some things he hasn't come clean about, to Sam and Dean, e.g. opening up the Panic Room door and letting Sam free. He used the mixed tape to double cross Dean, so the mixed tape is a proof of Castiel's betrayal. It is not proof of destiel. The whole Leviatian affair is Castiel's fault. And although Dean does take Castiel like a brother, canonically, he wont sell his soul for Castiel, like he did for Sammy. Using slowed down gifs of Dean and Cas staring blankly at each other, doesn't proof that Dean is bisexual. Every time Dean stares at a man, its doesn't mean he is attracted to that person.
The show is not queer baiting you by leaving subtextual easter eggs in the frame. They don't have time for that. Because they average one episode a week. They are working at a break neck speed. They don't have the time to indulge fannish nonsense. Everyone associated with the show have said that Dean is not bi. I don't mind you interpreting, but when you force it on Jensen and threaten him when he doesn't like it, you are being a vile and disgusting predatory beast. The only person who is reinforcing destiel [and by extension Bi dean] and queer baiting you is Misha Collins. Go take it up with him.
