Idia with a cosplayer SO
How did it start (Idia):
○We all know how invested Idia is when it comes to the series he enjoys so it would only be natural that he followed accounts that post content for those series.
○He most likely found his future SO account due to this fact. They were cosplaying a more niche series that he had been hyperfocused on so he had never hit the follow button faster.
○This would have spiraled into him becoming one of their biggest supporters. Always interacting with posts, sending anonymous messages, going to fan meets mostly digitally but sometimes in person when he was brave enough
○I would say he'd even have either drawn fanart for them, or made some type of merch, we'll say a Keychain in this case to give to them during the one time he was brave enough to go to a fan meeting in person.
How did it evolve:
○Imagine Idia's shock finding out his favorite cosplayer was attending NRC and is in the same dorm as him. When he's the Housewarden!
○Idia almost thought it was his eyes tricking him but the sight of a familiar Keychain used as a phone charm made him realize it was real.
○Was Idia going to approach them? Absolutely not, but to his horror delight they ended up joining the board gaming club.
○Things were made worse when they recognized him. How is someone supposed to react when their favorite cosplayer remembers them. Idia almost short circuited that's for sure.
○Idia didn't pursue a friendship with them but they pursued one with him.
○Idia almost thought he was living in a dating Sim at this point. And he was the capture target. His future SO was relentless. Always going to his dorm, dragging him out when they weren't busy with class, building a friendship with Ortho, working on their cosplans in his dorm, listening when he talked about his interests/sharing their own. Anything and everything they could do they did.
○And eventually one day they approached him with a request. They wanted him to cosplay with them for their next event....that is cosplay a couple. To say Idia.exe stopped working was an understatement. He tried to cover his embarrassment by jokingly asking if they were asking him out and he got a serious yes. He almost fainted on the spot but managed to agree.
As a couple:
○From then on it wasn't just his SO who was a famous cosplayer he became one himself to his horror. Their fans were now his fans and he just had to suck it up and accept his fate.
○Couples cosplays are a must! But only from series they both genuinely like. He'll be super embarrassed if you're going to cons in cosplay together but He'll suck it up for you. For private photoshoots he's a little more comfortable but is still embarrassed when his SO posts them.
○His dorm wasn't just his own anymore. It was shared with his SO. You could clearly see they practically lived there.
○Cute gaming sessions, and by that I mean him gaming and his SO working on a project and commentating.
○Friday movie nights are a must. If he doesn't get time to just sit with his SO in his arms binge watching series he'll combust
○Designated bag holder Idia is real. He's the bf walking around the con with all of his SO stuff and he doesn't complain one bit. Why would he when his partner is cosplaying one of his favs and looks so genuinely happy to be interacting with fans
○Idia takes the best photos btw. Both in cosplay and out of cosplay he's always prepared. He'll use drones, go out of his way to get the best angles and even edit the photos himself If his SO asks. He's their number 1 supporter
○Idia will fight to pay for things. Need fabric? You know his card information. At a con and see some merch you want? Here's his card grab anything you want, and actually get multiple of some of the keychains or pins so he could match with you. Basically if you want something you'll get it. He has the money to spare and it's more meaningful if he spends it on you.
○He's a pro at making props. With his technical skills he's making props that actually do the same things that they do in their individual series
○He's very interested in the creation of cosplays as a whole but cannot sew whatsoever so he sticks to what he knows and just enjoys watching his SO work.
Notes from Riri:
You will never have a more supportive Bf than Idia istg. Sorry if this isn't like an actual fic I just wanted to get this out of my head. But lmk if you like content like this and my asks are always open! I'm not a pro at writing but hey I'm here to be delusional so that's what I'll be

Chapter 3-Pink
Patton kept a diary. When he was younger he would stay up late at night, using pens to write in composition notebooks. Assigning different colors to different days of the week, doodling in the margins, dating every page in the top right corner, and taking time to think of a title for each day. At the bottom of every page Patton would rate how well the day was on a scale of one to five and doodle a little face that showed how he felt.
Keeping a diary was one of the few constants in Patton's life. After so much change and heartbreak, holding on to something, as silly as diary keeping, made Patton’s time a little more enjoyable.
When he received his first phone, Patton decided that a digital diary would be more convenient. He downloaded a simple note taking app, and began writing about his day there.
The advantage to a digital diary was he could write wherever he wanted. Patton sat on the bus to school, typing fervently. It was their first day back since the last attack and he had not gotten enough homework done as he would have liked. Patton was letting out some feelings onto his phone and listening to the chatter of the kids around him.
Patton is very aware of the fact that many of them were staring at him in awe. Especially the middle schoolers. Typically his audience on YouTube was middle schoolers. He knew having a few million subscribers got him attention and Patton had accepted that attention as part of his everyday life. It meant nothing to him now. A sort of bitter exchange. He didn’t feel the nervousness he used to when people approached him for pictures. The right feelings he got when young minds randomly appeared next to him and wanted to ask about being a YouTuber. However, that also meant he didn’t get the rush of happiness when some small kid praised or thanked him. He didn’t really feel that delighted feeling of pride anymore.
Patton typed on his phone until the bus pulled up to the high school. Patton stepped off the bus after almost tripping over several small kids in the bus isle. He began rolling up to the school, warm humid air hitting him. It had rained horribly the day before and him, along with several other fluffy haired people, were feeling the affects.
Patton opened the doors for a few high schoolers behind him and walked in. Heading for his locker immediately. After gathering his things Patton began taking his bag to his first hour.
“Hey Pat.” The familiar voice of Naomi, one of his close friends, greeted him.
“Hey Mi.” Patton smiled at her, moving a little in the hall so she could walk next to him.
“How was break?”
“Ugh, did not get any homework for Leed’s class done.” Patton rolled his eyes. “But, ya know, got some editing finished.”
“Well, I don’t think the teachers honesty expect us to have gotten anything done.” Naomi tried to soothe him.
“Yeah.” Patton sighed. They stepped into their shared first hour and continued to talk. A few more friends walked in and began talking with them, but Patton dropped away from them quickly.
He never felt particularly attached to the people in his school. It was hit or miss with people you talked to. Patton was very aware of his social standing as ‘the most popular person in high school’, but he attributed that to his YouTube channel’s success. It wasn’t like he didn’t have friends. He certainly had people wanting to be his friend. However, it was never the type of connection that Patton would see on tv. No best friend sleepovers, skipping class together, eating cookies late at night while watching Netflix. Patton wasn’t proud of the fact that he didn’t have a close friend like that, but he figured he should take what he gets.
Besides, he still had friends.
Lunch was an easy time for Patton. He typically sat with Naomi in the library. Sure that’s not what one would expect from a popular socialite like Patton, but the cafeteria was simply too loud. Hectic and scary were adjectives Patton often described lunch as. He didn’t eat much at lunch either. He never really ate much. There wasn’t a lot of time to eat.
Patton often spent his time listening to his friends’ problems, studying, doing something for the array of clubs he was in, or editing for YouTube. There wasn’t much time for anything else, but that was okay. Patton enjoyed doing all of those-besides studying-so it wasn’t like he missed anything. There was nothing to miss when he didn’t know of much else he could do.
Mondays were usually not the favorite day of the week for any student, never mind any person. However, they were Patton’s favorite. Why? Well, Mondays after school, Patton got to go down to the freshman biology teacher’s room and run the QSA at his school. He loved the QSA. He had been going since 8th grade, when he couldn’t technically go because he wasn’t in high school.
However, he dedicated a lot of time to the QSA and had become the president of the club in junior year. He was elated to be in it and was able to get together a team to spread the word about it and set up fun activities. It was one of the only things about school that Patton documented in his YouTube videos.
Patton didn’t like to talk about school too much for fear of it interfering with him graduating, but he was able to take videos of everything that happened with QSA. Much to the delight of his viewers.
Patton sat anxiously in 6th hour, awaiting the final bell that meant he could head down to the club room. Sadly though, sixth hour was just getting under way, so he would have to wait.
“Welcome back to sixth hour!” Patton’s calc teacher, Mrs. Ryans began. “I know school only had been a few weeks in when the attacks hit, and it essentially feels like the next semester, but we’ll be doing a small project!”
The class cheered a little. Projects for her class were typically easier than usual class work. She would often pair up students to work on it together, making it all the easier on Patton. Usually Mrs. Ryans paired Patton with Logan, who was more than happy to help Patton on the project. Patton loved partnering with Logan, he was understanding of Patton’s schedule and never got frustrated with Patton’s inability to meet in order to work on the project. Though Patton had heard he was quite the opposite with other partners in different classes.
“So, I didn’t really have the time nor the care to make a list of partners, so, your table partners will do for this.” Mrs. Ryans sighed.
Patton met Logan’s eye with a disappointed look and shrugged. Logan returned the sentiment before looking toward Remus next to him. Logan smacked the snickering idiot.
Patton turned to his table partner Dee and gave him a warm smile that was met with a side smile, reserved for Patton alone.
“Donnie can you pass out the papers?” Mrs. Ryans asked.
“Sure!” Donnie smiled and stood, grabbing the stack of papers that explained the assignment.
“Mrs. Ryans! Dee and I need to be partners.” Kayley Holt said a few rows behind Patton.
“Uh, no.” Mrs. Ryans trailed off giving Kayley a questioning look.
“But we have to be. We have co-dependency anxiety and we’re both super anxious without each other! We have to be partners.” Kayley demanded.
Patton looked over to Dee who held a blank expression rivaling Lady Gaga’s ‘poker face’. Patton could tell he was not happy with the arrangement Kayley was trying to pull.
“You know what Kayley, I know you’re lying to me about this so don’t even try and pull this stunt again, but fine, you and Dee can be partners. Just don’t whine when you two both get Cs on the assignment cause you didn’t work.” Mrs. Ryans pointed at Kayley. Then pointed at her table partner. “Roman, you’ll pair with Patton.”
Patton smiled over at Roman who dramatically smiled back.
“This will be due on Friday and I expect it typed, nothing handwritten! Heck knows you people write in hieroglyphics.” Mrs. Ryans dismissively waved her hand. “You will have Thursday in class to work on it if you need but if you don’t you can just have this as a free hour.”
Patton received the paper and began reading over the project. Dee and Roman switched places and the two dove into the work. Dividing it between themselves and scheduling times to meet to work on it.
“Are you free tonight after QSA?” Roman asked.
“Yeah, you?”
“Mhm. I don’t think Logan or Remus have anything going on either. We can all kinda work on it together at my place.” Roman turned to where Logan and Remus sat across the room. “Logan! Remus! Come here.”
Logan and Remus turned to Roman who was waving them over enthusiastically. The two look at each other before Logan shrugged and began walking their way. Logan and Remus sat down across from Patton and Roman, the four began talking about going to the twins’ home after QSA to work on the project.
“Well what am I supposed to do while you three are in your club?” Remus asked
“You can come if you want. We’re doing some stuff for the underclassmen for homecoming.” Patton told Remus.
“I though they called off Homecoming.” Roman looked at Pat.
“Well, they did,” Patton trailed off. “but the freshmen on the QSA group chat were so upset, I mean I couldn’t let them be so disappointed.”
“What did you do? Pay ‘em off?” Remus whispered.
“What?! No!” Patton whispered back. Not fully knowing why he was whispering, so he stopped. “I just argued to the superintendent that they deserved a Homecoming.”
“How? He never changes his mind.” Roman smiled.
“Well, I mean, I’m good at convincing people, I guess.” Patton shrugged. “But yeah, homecoming is back on.”
“None of us go to homecoming though.” Roman pointed out.
“Yeah, but the freshmen and sophomores like going and some juniors go and I know I don’t have time to go, but they deserve some fun. The town’s ten pm curfew doesn’t exactly give any kids the chance to hang out with their friends like normal teenagers.” Patton explained.
“Well, it’s nice for you to do something for them. Having experiences with their friends, like homecoming, will make it all the easier to deal the trauma of the attacks.” Logan finally said.
“Thank you Logan.” Patton nodded. “Now, is that all settled. We just head to your place after QSA?”
“Yep.” Roman nodded.
Patton smiled at him and began texting his foster mother the plan. Class ended a while after that and the four began their walk to the science wing of the school. Heading to Mr. Travis’s-the QSA faculty advisor-room. The room was already full of kids from every grade. Eager freshmen were talking nervously to their friends while the other two seniors looked around commenting on how they were used to it by now.
“Hey guys!” Patton said as he entered.
“Patton!” Jana, a sophomore, squeaked when he entered. “I passed the project!”
“I knew you would! You’ve gotta stop doubting yourself.” Patton congratulated her.
“I know, I know.” She giggled. “Camera?” Jana put out her hands expectantly.
“Here!” Patton walked over to one of the cabinets and pulled out the camera he used for filiming. He handed it to Jana who giddily heded over to tripod and began setting up eqquipment. "Okay everyone, before I begin with what we're doing today can we set up the tables into one long table?"
The group got up from their chairs, still chatting, and began arranging the tables the way Patton had asked. Once done helping, Patton walked to the 'head' of their make-shift table and sat down. Jana started up the cameras and sound and Patton began.
"Homecoming is back on, which means another year of having to find a date, dress nice, and so on. So, what I’ve decided to do, is spend this week, next week, and however much longer making flower crowns.” Patton announced. “I know it’s a little childish, but pride flag flower crowns are so much fun to make and afterward you get really good at them”
“I love it.” Cami, one of the juniors said.
“Thanks Cami.” Patton smiled. “Make some for yourself, make some for our friends, make pride flag ones, make any color ones, doesn’t matter, just use all the flowers. I printed out a bunch of instructions on different types of crowns and other jewelry you can make with the flowers. Just have fun with it!”
Mr. Travis entered the room with loads of flowers in his hand and his daughter trailing behind, also carrying many flowers.
“Here we are.” He grunted, setting them down.
“Thanks Mr. Travis.” Patton smiled. “Let’s get started!”
The club dispersed into groups and began making crowns, chatting with their friends, and goofing around. Patton was pulled over to a group of sophomores and freshmen who wanted to talk.
He looked over to see Logan, Roman, and Remus talking quietly while making the crowns. Patton smiled, even Remus was making a pride flag flower crown.
After some time he walked over to Logan, Roman, and Remus. The three stopped talking quickly and focused a little too intensely on the flower crowns.
QSA ended far too quickly for Patton’s liking, but he and the three others left for Roman’s house soon. They talked the whole way, mainly Remus, and were very quickly entering the home.
Patton and Roman went to the living room and lazily began talking about the project. Logan and Remus went to the dining room and Logan attempted to make progress while Remus threw Cheetos in the air and tried to catch them in his mouth.
Patton looked around the house. It was huge. Large eggshell white walls and intimidating furnishings. It barely looked lived in.
“Hey Roman,” Patton started, “can you point me to the bathroom?”
“Yeah sure, the closest one is just down that hallway.” Roman pointed to a dark hallway. “I’m pretty sure it’s on the right. You’ll find it.”
“Thanks.” Patton smiled.
He got up and headed that way, not quite sure what he was doing. He didn’t need to go to the bathroom, but something about the house felt so familiar. He had to find out why. Why did being in the home feel off yet inviting. It didn’t make any sense. Patton has always been good at feelings. Knowing what they are in him and observing them in others. This though, this was different.
Patton walked down the hallway toward a door, feeling the pull even more intensely. Every step was pulling him forward. Why was it so familiar?
Patton opened the door and stepped into an extremely dark room. Patton’s eyes could barely adjust. Without realizing it he had entered the room and was running his hand along the objects in the room. The feeling grew to an overwhelming point and Patton tried to pull away and go back to the living room, but to no avail. Then something grabbed him. It wrapped around his wrist and tightened into a perfect fit. Patton was finally able to pull his hand back and looked at the thing on his wrist.
A bracelet. Glowing pink and swirling around his wrist.
Patton screamed.
“No, no, no, no, no, no, no,” Patton continued. He just stared at the bracelet in horror trying to get it off him as fast as possible.
Patton distantly heard Logan call his name. Pounding footsteps headed his way and the lights around him were flipped on.
Patton barely noticed, he just focused on tearing the bracelet off of him.
“Patton?!” Logan yelled for his attention.
“Get it off, get it off, oh please just get this thing off of me.” Patton cried out.
“What?” Roman started, but stopped when Patton turned and showed them the bracelet. “Oh.”
“Please just get it off, please, please,” Patton suddenly stopped, staring at Remus. “You-you’re-“
“Remus!“ Roman chided, noticing the mace he had in his hand.
“What? We didn’t know why Patton was screaming! It could have been a minion.”
“Jeez Remus.” Roman shook his head.
“You’re the Green Ranger?” Patton asked shakily. “Which one are you Logan?”
“I-uh blue.” Logan hurried out an answer.
“Logan! You can’t just tell every pretty boy you’re the Blue Ranger!” Roman smacked Logan on the shoulder.
“I’m not!” Logan’s face turned a bright red.
“Oh this is a disaster.” Roman sighed.
“I know.” Logan looked away.
“Look, I don’t care! I won’t tell anyone, I promise! You can trust me! Just please get this off of me! I don’t want to be a Ranger please!” Patton begged.
“Patton-“
“Can you take this off or not?” Patton asked, tears welling in his eyes.
“I-uh-no.” Logan stuttered. “We don’t know how.”
“Fine.” Patton stood and looked at Roman. His expression hard as tears began falling ever so slightly. “I need to borrow your car.”
“What?” Roman asked startled.
“I need to borrow your car, drive to Thomas, and get him to pull this horrible thing off my wrist.” Patton said, his voice steady.
“Patton we-“
“Please.” Patton broke down into a quiet sob. “Please just let me-“
“We’ll drive you. It’s unsafe to drive when you’re upset like this.” Logan said quickly. “Roman let’s go.”
“Ok-okay.” Roman turned and headed out of the room.
The four quickly ran out of the house and into a car. Roman started it up and began driving. Remus sat quietly in the passenger seat, looking at Patton nervously. Logan and Patton sat in the back, Patton silently crying into Logan’s chest. Logan wrapped an arm around Patton’s shoulders, holding him soothingly.
They pulled up to Thomas’s house and frantically ran to the front door.
“Thomas! Thomas! We need you open up!” Roman knocked on the door loudly.
The door swung open and a little kid stood there worried. “What’s going on?”
“Emile! Where’s your dad?” Roman asked frantically.
“Coming coming! What is it?! Is someone hurt! What happened?” Thomas asked. He looked at the four.
Remus and Roman stood awkwardly on the small porch. And a little ways behind them, Logan held a crying Patton.
“Wha-“ Thomas stopped himself. “Patton?”
“Thomas!!” Patton pulled away from Logan and raced to Thomas. He fell into Thomas’s arms and sobbed harder.
“Oh Pat. It’s okay I-I know.” Thomas tried soothing him. “Come on lets all go inside.”
Thomas led the four inside. Patton collapsed on the couch and looked around, drying his tears.
“Thomas, get it off of me.” Patton started shakily.
“Patton, you know that’s not how it works.”
“I don’t care. It needs to come off. I’m not breaking my last promise with Talyn. I won’t do it.” Patton shook his head. Once again grabbing at the bracelet and trying to pull it off.
Emile put a hand on Patton’s bracelet to stop him from tanking at it.
“Patton, you know Talyn would be proud of you no matter what. They knew that it wasn’t a choice you got to make. You were chosen. They would be so proud to know you’re the next Pink Ranger.” Thomas smiled.
“No!” Patton’s tears started up yet again. “I promised! I said I would never! I told them I would never become a Ranger. It’s dangerous and heartbreaking and it tore Talyn away from me! It took Joan and Talyn from me! It took them both and it almost took you!”
“Patton, I know.” Thomas sighed, stepping closer to Patton who only pulled away.
Roman, Remus, and Logan stood in the kitchen eyeing the scene and trying to understand whatever was going on.
“I can’t do this. I won’t do this.” Patton stated firmly.
“Patton, don’t you remember when you were younger and all you wanted to be was a Ranger? You were so excited to be everything Talyn was and more.”
“I was young. And stupid. And I still am. I’m not ready for this. Talyn didn’t want this.”
“Talyn knew that this would happen. They knew you would be Ranger. It was simply your destiny. You know that. We all knew that.” Thomas sighed. “Talyn just didn’t want you to feel pressured. Talyn knew the risks and didn’t want you to go through the pain.”
“If it weren’t for the morphers, Talyn, and Joan, and Valerie, and Terrence, and Dominic would all still be here! You wouldn’t have been the only Ranger for the past ten years! You wouldn’t be doing this on your own.” Patton cried.
“Pat-“
“Thomas, please just get it off of me.” Patton held out his wrist to Thomas. “Please. I can’t do this, please.”
"Patton. I-I-"
"Pat, please." Emile took Patton's jaw in his hand. "I know it hurts, but think about what you're doing. You know you can't take it off. Once it's on you, you can't just take the morpher off. It's there and there's nothing you can do. So, what you need to do, is live up to that amazing loving person the morpher chose. The morpher chose you because you bring heart and care and compassion to the team. You're made for this role and I know you can do it. Though you may not feel it now, it's still there."
"Emile-“
“When we were so much younger do you remember pretending to be Rangers together. You were always the brave Pink Ranger, swooping in your save me from the Dragon Witch. You just wanted to help me. You’ve always wanted to be a Ranger and you’ve always wanted to help people. Please don’t give up on that. You know for a fact Talyn only said that to try and keep you safe. No matter what you’ve promised them, or Joan, or Megan, you want to do this.” Emile stopped him. “You don’t have to be afraid. You’ve got a team by your side.”
They sat in silence. Patton’s tears had dried on his face and he desperately tried to talk but found no sound coming out. His chest heaved and ached. Patton could only squeeze Emile’s hand in his and sniffle.
“I’m sorry.” Patton squeaked. “I’m so sorry.”
“No, don’t be sorry. Pat of course you’d feel this way. No one expects you to immediately want to be a Ranger. Especially after what happened with Talyn. No one blames you for feeling this way.” Thomas assured him.
“Thank you, I-I know. I know it’s okay. It just still doesn’t feel that way. It doesn’t feel-feel-feel-“
“I’m sure it doesn’t. But it’s okay.” Emile whispered.
Patton collapsed into Emile, just crying into the smaller boy. “It hurts so bad.”
Emile nodded and ran a soothing hand through Patton’s hair. As Patton continued trying to control his sobbing he felt more arms wrap around him. He shifted to see Roman, Remus, and Logan holding him gently, too gently. It was like they though one squeeze would break Patton in half.
“You’re going to be the best Pink Ranger to ever fight.” Roman told him.
“Thank you I-I’m okay.” Patton smiled sweetly at the boys hugging him.
They pulled away, but stayed close.
“I’m going to be okay.” Patton said a little shakily but calm.
I’m ready. Patton wrote late that night in his diary. I’m going to be okay.

Unnecessary life update
i.
I have officially made it to the halfway point of this quarter. And I don’t mean to sound morbid but I didn’t expect to at all!
It’s just that I’ve recently learned that chronic sleep deprivation actually does lead to premature death and I’ve slept at three in the morning everyday since I started online schooling. (Though actual scientific evidence has always been available on the Internet, I found it easier to believe that this was a hoax.) But concerning as it may be, the past two weeks have been so demanding of my time and energy, resting didn’t seem like an option.
ii.
Much to the dismay of Freshman Angel, most organizations in Ateneo require an interview as part of the application process. I remember signing up for three departments in my home org back then: I sweated my way through one screening, completely flunked the other, and ghosted the last. I also applied to be part of our hosting pool and made a run for it at the last minute: despite having spent only two weeks on campus, I easily found a secret passageway leading to the nearest exit just so that I wouldn’t have to run into the officer in charge of my audition.
Given the unfortunate display of cowardice, it’s hard to believe that this year, I found myself on the other side. I conducted several ICs (rebranded to individual conversations) in an attempt to welcome freshmen, give them a picture of what awaits them in ACTM, and hopefully serve as one of their first friends, if I built enough rapport with them.
The week after, I had to conduct interviews and screen all hopefuls who wanted to make it into my department. I only spoke with 13 of them through a screen but I had to go through three times more application forms, interview footage, and assessments to determine who would make it to our final line-up. One night, I binge-watched the recordings of all the interviews I conducted in chronological order and I didn’t know if I found my waning energy levels depressing or funny. Toward the last few, I refused to turn on my camera because I had gotten a sudden allergy attack.
iii.
And as if the load I bear as an associate vice president in ACTM wasn’t heavy enough, I joined five other orgs last recruitment week. I wouldn’t go and call the quarantine a blessing because I’m not an asshole but these past few months have made me realize that I want to do and be so many things in life and I missed the opportunity to start on them earlier, since I spent the first few years of college hanging around with no end goal in mind. So in a fit of impulsiveness, I signed up for:
The Development Society of the Ateneo, where I will be working either as an advocacy or consultancy trainee under the research and development department (depends on how my interview this Thursday fares);
Ateneo Education Geared Towards Empowerment, where I will be gathering data from our partner communities to help the organization provide quality education given the online setting;
Ateneo Association of Communication Majors, where I will be under the research and development department yet again of MIRLab, their documentary production house;
Ateneo PEERS, where I will be part of a peer support program intended to help in my self-improvement, and that of others as well;
Project Kabuhayan, where I will be participating in initiatives geared towards empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises
I had general assemblies for most of them: had to ditch two for a midterm, and will be watching the recordings tomorrow. I didn’t even have to talk in any of them; simply watch the officers speak about their projects for the year then head on over to my designated breakout room. But the mere idea of being perceived by hundreds of Zoom call participants was already enough to drain my social battery.
iv.
To top it all off, my major tasks for all three subjects I’m taking this quarter were due last Friday. I had a group podcast for Philosophy class which we had to shoot twice on the busiest day of my week. I wanted nothing more than to get it over with, so when we wrapped up our first attempt, we were ready to let it go through some rushed post-production and submit it without giving it a second look. But I couldn’t stomach the thought of submitting subpar work when the task is supposed to be easy, given enough discipline.
Another group I was a part of had a marketing plan (you’ll never guess which subject it was for) that proposed the rebranding of Adidas Originals to cater to an older target market, or “the active ageing”, as we liked to call it. We only found out a couple of hours before the deadline that our professor was not accepting anything over 10 pages just when we had hit the 40-page mark. All of our well-researched, comprehensive parts had to be cut down significantly, which was the equivalent of flushing many sleepless nights down the drain.
And of course, I had a case study and midterm to accomplish for Law. The minute I received the message confirming the submission of my answers, I plopped down on my bed and napped. Later on that night, I released all the pent-up tension in me by going on my first ever e-numan. I never got the logic behind drinking alcohol in front of my computer: I always thought it was a sad attempt to replicate the bustling nightlife of Katip or the intimate energy of barkada chillnumans in condominiums. But I guess all I needed was the right company, and some sweet-tasting Novellino.
Anyway, before this turns into a full-on advert for a brand that isn’t even sponsoring this post, let me move on.
Reading that probably exhausted you. As the one who had to live through all that, I can tell you: it was even more hectic than you think. Before this pandemic was a thing, my schedule was clear-cut. I could tell the days of the week apart, and appreciate the endless possibility brought by Friday evenings. I could wake up at eight on Saturday morning, smile to myself because of how early it is, and go back to sleep without any feelings of guilt.
Now, the line that separates work and home has been completely obliterated. The Internet promotes that I have to be at the top of my game all the time. Every moment spent in rest and recreation is a moment wasted when there’s so much to do, always somewhere to be even if I’m technically not allowed to leave the comfort of my own home.
I would sometimes report to my friends that I threw my circadian rhythm out the window, which would be met with the same well-meaning outcries. “What the hell! Drop all your commitments! Pace yourself! Sleep early!”. I think they know by now that this often falls on deaf ears. Ironically, whenever I observe or hear of friends falling into the same patterns as me, I’m often one of the first to reprimand. I sentence them to early bedtime like a stressed suburban mother of two, and check in on them constantly to see if they’re doing alright. I tell them not to pressure themselves to perform at their very best, while working myself to the bone, writing this ~2,000 word essay at half past two in the morning.
But one conversation I had with one of my friends stood out. He told me how proud he was of me: that even if I’m so busy juggling so many things, it all pays off in the end because I’m genuinely happy and fulfilled. I get to see the fruits of my labor and share it with the world.
Which is so true. I honestly enjoy the success that comes from this hyperproductivity, and take pride in the output that I manage to churn out. I’m willing to give up hours of sleep if it means getting to do what will help me make my pipe dreams a reality, or create something that sets my soul on fire.I don’t mind going out of my comfort zone if it’s to talk to new people who have the potential of being some of my greatest friends in the future, or advocating for causes that I’m passionate about.
In fact, I am so willing to prolong my period of working to welcome the new members of my department or create even more articles to talk about pressing cultural phenomena. It will be hard as hell while the sacrifice is still ongoing but I always know that it will lead to something greater and bigger than I am.
Besides, when I feel like I can no longer take it, I don’t think I’ll have it in me to force myself. It might not look like it but I am afraid of the serious health risks and will try to slot in more time for sleep if need be. But I have no plans of backing out of anything right now since I’m still on top of everything. Guess I’m fueled by a genuine desire to give/be/do as much as I can, while I still can.

Where did this post even go, honestly… This was supposed to be a simple life update, complete with a pop culture recommendation to supplement my experiences. I did not expect it to spiral the way it did so now I have no idea how to transition from one part to the next in a way that isn’t entirely awkward. Oh well.
I managed to preserve my sanity these past two weeks by listening to only one artist. Anyone who follows me on Spotify must think that their Friend Activity tab is glitching but the rumors are indeed true: I have been listening to chosen songs from The Boyz’ discography on a constant loop, like an actual zombie. Count on me to get into a new K-Pop group during the busiest week of the quarter as a coping mechanism.
I was an anti of this group when they first debuted because they are home to a former Produce 101 contestant whom I hated. (Still do, up to now. Don’t know how to reconcile my conflicting feelings.) So you could say I was heavily biased from the start and refused to give them a chance. Thankfully, one of my best friends recently converted after watching them on Road to Kingdom and sent me some of their performances to reel me in. Since I am a girl with a working brain and pair of eyes, I was easily impressed. When they came back recently with The Stealer, I officially fell and made no active efforts to get up.
If there are any Deobis reading, (1) congrats, you are a person of taste; (2) please be my friend. My current favorite songs other than their latest title track are No Air, I’m Your Boy, and Break Your Rules. I’ve also started most mornings with their Danger live stage. Who needs caffeine when you have acrobatic stunts and good-looking men?
I also have a lot of exciting things coming up, which I just felt the need to share:
I’m going to be a panelist at a talk for Developh, an organization I’m a part of which leverages technology for social good. This Friday, October 16th, I’ll be joining three brilliant go-getters from different fields to talk about my internship at makesense Philippines (which warrants another blog post) as well as my experience as a freelance writer.
I have a couple of published pieces in the pipeline right now that I absolutely cannot wait to share! I honestly think they’re some of my favorites. Over the past few weeks, I have written about Internet study communities, the Subtle Asian Dating Facebook group, and unpaid internships. I’ve also pitched a couple more to my bosses and they’ve given me the green light at the same time so yes, once again, I am running on tight deadlines.
I’ll be applying for internships once this quarter is over and I’m already considering a couple of start-ups as good prospects. I’m making my personalized CVs for each company and saving the contact details of the designated point people in a neat little Notion spread for easy access.
Feels weird to end this post with stay safe and healthy, and don’t forget to rest. Maybe I’ll just make that a note to self.
Love and light,
Angel

(Y/N) , (Y/L/N) , (S/C) , (H/T) — Your name, your last name your favourite colour, skin colour, home town
—
She was just one other face in the hallway, but somehow she stood out. The boys, along with some girls, made her their main interest. Sure, by now she was use to it, but in a bad way. (Y/N) was the most gorgeous girl at Riverdale High School. Everyone was after her, including the people who kept silent. In fact, that was Riverdale’s own Jughead Jones. He was afraid all they would ever get to if they had the chance was be lab partners. Sadly, nothing else, or so he thought.
You moved to Riverdale a year ago from (H/T). Straight away as you walked through those great big halls on your first day, you were afraid it would be exactly like your old school. Your parent’s got a job offer, meaning they had to move to Riverdale. Of course it wasn’t a bad thing, but what was ahead of her was. A new movie, a new start, was all she wanted when learning that she was moving far away. Thank god, is all you thought to yourself.
The reason why you hated your old school was due to only one person. In fact, that person was a boy. A cute boy at the time, but learnt later on to be absolutely vile. His name was Jake. He was a senior, whereas at the time you were only freshman. Since you were ahead of your grade in science, you had the honour to move to senior classes instead of freshman ones. That’s when trouble all started. Since laying eyes on him, you knew it was going to be bad. Sure, his eyes were deep and blue, the kind that looked look a starry night sky, but it was a rabbit hole to fall in to. Since the two of you were assigned lab partners, you got to know him more and more everyday, meaning that the feelings you had for him grew too. One day after class, he asked you out on a ‘date’ to go to a party another senior was hosting while his parents were gone on a business trip. Since your parents never allowed you to date, you decided to be a little rebellious and sneak out with him whilst they were out of town. When it came time for him to pick you up, he was slightly intoxicated, sitting in the drivers seat of his car. You knew straight away it was going to be a bad night. In fact, it was. He got more and more drunk that night, leaving him to almost lead you to a bedroom to have sex in. You called him out, all the boys ganged up and told you to leave, walking all the way home in the pouring rain. That next day of school, someone photoshopped your face on a girl in a revealing bikini was sent to every boy with the caption ‘slut’. Luckily it was a miracle, the move to Riverdale, that was a sign to a fresh new start.
She was wary of every boy that caught her glimpse since her first day. She obviously didn’t want a repeat of the last incident that still haunted her. Boys asked her out, but she kindly declined with the excuse that her parents didn’t allow her to date. Someone assumed she was a lesbian, but that was just a rumour. At least the boys here we nice enough to accept her response. Since still being fairly new, you didn’t really acknowledge many people as your friends, as you didn’t exactly know who to trust anymore. One person, the only person, was the only exception. Jughead Jones, the only boy that acknowledged you as a human being with feelings and stories. Since of your high IQ, you were still assigned to a couple higher classes to fit your standards. You didn’t mind the classes, especially science, as it was your favourite subject. And your lab partner, which happened to be Jughead, wasn’t your usual douchebag preppy jock that only wanted you for your looks.
The day was Friday. Most of your classes that day was with Jug. Of course you didn’t mind as he was the only person you got along with. As you were late to school, you quickly went to the office to grab a late note for your teacher to give on arrival. When you made it to English that morning, to your surprise, Jughead saved you a seat next to his. It was knew of him. Jughead always seemed to have a huge opinion on personal space, but this was new to her, including a couple classmates. She held in a chuckle walking over to her seat which sat next to his.
“So, did I miss anything on Shakespeare?” (Y/N) whispered, opening her bag to take out her books. “Shit, do you have a pen?” She asked, still trying to search deep into her bag to find where her pen could be. Jughead picked up the pan that already sat on his desk, waving it in front of her, as she looked up and thanked him taking it.
“No problem. But with the Shakespeare question? Yeah, I’m a bit sick of hearing Romeo & Juliet over and over again.” Jughead confessed, a smirk playing on his lips as he took out a new pen for himself. “At least it’s not Macbeth this time.” You smiled, trying to not giggle too loudly.
For the last two weeks, news spread that there was a party hosted by Chuck Clayton that night in honour of Riverdale’s football team, the Bulldogs, latest win against their rival school. Of course that wasn't on your interest, as fear hit you like a dozen bricks all at once. But there was no fear in asking others if they were going. Since Archie Andrews, Jughead’s best friend, well, no one really knew what they were at the moment, she thought he would tag along with Archie to support his win.
“…So, did you hear about that party tonight?” You hesitantly asked, looking up from your work into Jughead’s eyes. Every time she looked into them, a hit of familiarity came over her. A deep blue, similar to Jake’s. Of course she knew that Jughead wasn't like every other boy, but she didn’t exactly know every single thing about him and she was still wary of her surroundings. All he did was scoff in response, stretching his arms out.
“Do you really think I would go to one of Chuck’s stupid parties? It’s just an excuse to drink and flirt with people whilst you’re drunk.” Jughead informed, support his head with his hands before resting his chin on the table.
“O-oh, b-but what about Archie? Aren’t you going to support him?” As soon as those words escaped her lips, his head shot up.
“Look, (Y/N), ever since Jason’s death, we haven’t really been talking. You see, the morning of the gunshot, Archie and I were suppose to go camping a bit out of Riverdale for summer vacation. I was packed and everything, ready to go. But he never showed up. So basically, my summer consisted of writing, eating, and playing video games.” Jughead explained to her. (Y/N) was aware of the gruesome death of Jason Blossom. Since it was big deal in Riverdale, of course she would have heard about it by now since it was brought up almost everyday, and she knew Jughead was fascinated in the mystery of it, as one day the two of them were both at Pop’s to finish some homework and he showed her the process of the book he’s writing.
“Jug, I’m sorry to hear that. If it makes you feel any better, I’m not going either. Long story, I’ll tell you if I ever get the chance. I might go to the Drive-In or something.” You suggested, going back to your writing. Jughead’s eyes lit up as you mentioned the Drive-In. Since it was where he worked, and literally where he lived, he sparked interest to make tonight’s shift a little more fancier since she was going.
“Since when did you find you go to Drive-In’s? I work there, so, technically I have to be there. But I run the reels up in the projection room, so I just put it in and snack away on popcorn. I find it more fascinating watching it in a point of view sort of way. If you want, maybe I could show you what it’s like?” The end part to what he said came out almost in a question. Jughead was hesitant, shy almost at the suggestion to her. He was head over heels for (Y/N), and the main focus on her wasn't her appearance for once.
“S-sure, Jughead. I’d love to.” That answer caught him by surprise, along with herself too. After one whole year of not going out, staying in most of the time, she deserved one night off from the troubles of teenage life. “What were you thinking of playing tonight?” She asked, curious in his movie taste.
“Well, I have a couple in mind. Maybe ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ or ‘Heathers’.” He replied, fiddling with the pen between his fingers.
“Both. I like your movie taste, Mr Jones.” She complimented, a blush slowly clinging to her (S/C) cheeks.
—
The period before lunch was finally over. The hallways filled up with loud students as Jughead and you tried to manage to make it to the end to sit with Veronica, Betty, Kevin and Archie.
“Hold on a second, I have to quickly get something from my locker.” She told Jughead, walking over to her locker that was opposite her.
“Sure, I’ll just wait in the cafeteria. I’ll save you seat.” He hung his head low, hiding a blush as he dug his hands into the pockets of his jacket before spinning on his heels and walking off. (Y/N) smiled back at him, a blush now on her cheeks as she turned to face her locker to put in the code to unlock it. She quickly put in her books as she took out her perfume, looking around the hallway in sight of Jug before spraying a bit on herself. She placed it back in her locker as she shut her locker, a boy standing behind it now in her sight, making her jump.
“Whoa, didn’t mean to scare you.” He chuckled, biting his lip as he looked up and down at you, instantly making you feel uncomfortable. “(Y/N), right?” You nodded slowly, clinging onto the strap of your bag.
“Yeah, that’s me.” You said awkwardly, trying to keep conversation short as she didn’t want to hold up Jughead waiting for her.
“Chuck. Chuck Clayton. Captain of the Bulldogs. Anyway, I have this party tonight which I really think you should come to. It seems like your kinda thing.” Chuck asked, still eyeing your body up and down, making you now extremely uncomfortable. You’ve heard from Veronica and Betty bad things about Chuck from the past which got him suspended and kicked off the team. But since his dad was coach, they somehow let him back on and everyone pretended like nothing happened.
“O-oh, yeah, I’ve heard about it. I-I, look, uh… parties aren’t really my thing and I have plans anyway. I-I’m sorry.” She kindly declined, turning to quickly lock her locker before Chuck forced his hand onto it, holding it down.
“Aw, really? You know, the whole football team was looking forward on your arrival? I mean, I promised them and everything. And you’re just going to let us down like that, (Y/N)?” At this point, he cornered you against the lockers. You knew what was going to happen. The hyperventilating started, the tears on the corner of your eyes were about to break and the ball in your throat was keeping you completely still.
“C-Chuck, I-I… I have to go-..” (Y/N) tried telling him, but the ball in her throat dropped and a tear shed down her cheek.
“Aw, look, are you crying? You won’t be crying by the end of this.” He smirked at her, biting down on his lip before a sudden bang against the locker broke his grip off her. Jughead stood at the end of the hall, a steady glare held onto Chuck’s eyes.
“Let. Go. Of. Her.” He forcefully said, the breathing in his chest visible as he tried his hardest to be calm yet stern, although he was furious and out of his mind. Chuck just laughed, still cornering her as he turned his focus to Jughead.
“Or what, Wednesday Addams? Are you going to tell on me?” He joked, now looking back at her as he held on higher to (Y/N)’s arm. At this point, Jughead was in absolutely rage.
“I said let go of her, Chuck.” He screamed, his eyes now tearing up along with yours. No one has ever stood up for you and it felt like a honour for it to be Jughead. Chuck let go of her, shoving her against the lockers as he stared at her once again before stepping back from her looking at the both of them.
“Freaks.” He mumbled, before walking off and disappearing from the hallway. You looked at Jughead before walking over to him and standing opposite him.
“Why did you stand up for me?” You said sternly, looking deep into his eyes. Jughead once again scoffed, a glare now facing her.
“You’re kidding me, right? I just saved you and you’re asking such a stupid question?” He replied, looking down at her.
“No! Jughead, I didn’t mean it like that!” She giggled staring up into his eyes as she stood directly under his nose. “It’s just, no one has ever stood up to me before. Ever. And I genuinely feel honoured for you to do that. Thank you.” She sniffed, blinking away tears.
“I-I..God this is going to sound stupid. Look, (Y/N), I-I..I just wanted to protect you.” He admitted, looking down at her, captivated by the beauty in her. A smile played on her lips as she sighed deeply.
“…Jug?” There was a pause. He was waiting for what she was going to say. And just like that, the perfection moment was perfection. She stood on her toes as she closed her eyes, placing her lips on his as she held onto his jacket. Their lips both moved in sync as he moved his hands from inside his pockets to hold onto her soft cheeks, deepening the kiss with passion and love. Shortly after, they both pulled away and he smirked down at her.
“Pick me up at 8.” She bit her lip, walking off in the hallway to class as the bell rang, leaving him standing there with a goofy grin playing on his lips.
