For some reason, Four gives me rogue vibes. Like I can see him pulling out some daggers and being really good at stealthing and stabbing things. Most all Links are good at this at some point, but Four’s vibe is really just screaming proficient in underhanded tactics, sleight of hand, and lock picking. Wind definitely has this down pat as a Pirate but his youthfulness disguises it so well he can hide it but Four can’t. Dead give away. Yes, he’s a blacksmith so he wouldn’t even need to lock pick, the guy probably has the tool on him to break the lock but like what’s easier?

i very rarely appreciate what (partly) normal people have to say about the marauders fandom as whole but this is a cool reality check

the context of this post is that op was quoting a video of someone giving andrew garfield a remus lupin fanart to sign

and i feel like i mostly agree with this???? obviously i love exploring minor characters and events on fanfiction in whatever fandom it might be, but the disproportionate popularity is what makes it weird

another person brings up the experience of opening the comment section of a video and seeing a lot of comments about the marauders. like seriously imagine how annoying it must to just post yourself and get a lot of "that's james potter TO ME" "so james coded!!!" and imagined how it must be to someone like andrew garfield who has an entire career and it's associated to this one character he's never played by a bunch of people who can't get over a fan edit they watched as teenagers

i included the second comment because i think it's hilarious anyone would believe taylor swift wrote a thousand pages long wolfstar fic

but the first comment validates my main argument against the marauders fandom, or at least the iteration that plagues every single character tag and tiktok, "and the minute someone tries to think differently or tries to refute it, you would think they committed murder". the one thing that it's truly harmful to this fandom, and i mean the whole harry potter fandom because whether you like it or not we share an ao3 tag, it's how stagnant and limited it is, how hive minded it is, how some people seem to need a unanimously agreed upon fanon version of events, how you jump into extremely popular fanfics and assume those particular versions of the characters are who the characters are in absolute and just replicate that versions in progressively worse takes that become truly unrecognizable from the source material

fandom should thrive in creativity and it's great that a niche part of the canon universe has grown so much that now we have fan works of very minor characters, but what is the use of these high numbers if most of it it's going to read the same. people who are getting into fandom or are just starting their creative projects shouldn't feel pressured to fit into the same mold just because it seems like everybody else is doing it. not everyone who is writing or drawing or editing wants to make another flavor of the same popular fanon

The funniest interpretation of the bet surrounding how long Bobby will last as captain of the 118 is that the bet was created not only because it’s so goddamn hard to captain a station in Los Angeles, but also because this specific station is just chock-full of feral firefighters. We like to laugh at the current members of the 118 for being constantly unhinged, but I truly believe that had Bobby been anyone else, his bet would’ve been lost before the end of the first week. The 118 firefighters were yearning to be adopted by this equally unhinged midwestern gourmet chef, and we all KNOW that Bobby needed the 118 in return. But mostly, I’m just convinced that all the captains between Gerrard 1.0 and Bobby were driven off by the sheer horror of seeing how the 118 firefighters operate on the daily (in life and on the job). Bobby is the only one who knew how to roll with the chaos.

You know something that annoys me is that in the Earthspark episode Age of Evolution, we get a couple remarks from Mandroid that he’s familiar with the Malto name, and specifically that he’s familiar with Alex, recognizing his face and calling him by his first name when he sees him

But then in Prime Time, we finally get payoff to this mystery when the two finally meet each other, but all it amounted to is that they used to teach at the same university. Like that’s literally it, and I think the only new information the group gained is Mandroid’s real name of Dr. Meridian, which was entirely unneeded info and something the audience has known from day 1. Mandroid wasn’t even a cover name, nor was he hiding his identity, it’s just what the Terrans decided to call him when they met him and the name stuck, because they never bothered to learn his real one

Like what was the point of dropping the hints that they had a history if it wasn’t going to go anywhere?

I can only assume that initially it was supposed to be a bigger deal, but by the time of the reveal it got to changed to just “they used to teach at the same university” and that’s it. I’d say either they had the idea that they knew each other, but could never figure out a good payoff and/or how to work it into the story, so they just had to settle for this, or higher-ups didn’t like the idea or decided to take the story in a direction that wouldn’t have made it work, so again they had to change it

Though it also came like, super late into the season, I’m half wondering if they just had it in there so they could just get the loose thread tied up, even if it didn’t amount to anything

I don’t know, I know it isn’t important in the grand scheme of the story, but it just ticks me off, it’s a plot point that never gets used to its full potential
