HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!

Me and @wolvesofdeltora have been working on this collaboration for the Good Omens Spooky Bang! They’ve written this wonderful story in which Adam regales the Them about a particular spooky night Aziraphale and Crowley had exploring an abandoned mansion. It’s clever, funny, and thrilling! I really enjoyed working on it with Deltora, and I hope you all have as much fun reading it as I did!

anathema thought she didn't wanna date until she met newt and realized her type was just very pathetic boys and she hadn't met a pathetic enough boy

for some reason i think muriel would get asked out a lot on earth but at first they wouldn't realize they're dates so they're just happily cruising along being an absolute player. after realizing they'd be like "so if i just keep making lip contact with my dates they'll purchase more human sustenance for me? what an interesting trading system!"

i also headcanon that muriel is a lesbian though because i sense my own

gabriel finds flies on him a lot. in pockets, in hair, in his teeth. beezlebub just wants him to have lil friends

nina isn't very good at expressing affection so she'd do it really awkwardly. she'd hand someone a trinket, say "its yours" and then leave without explaining anything.

maggie hates nina's ex more than anyone. if she ever met them she'd give them a proper little smack. also i can see her as the "with all due respect, which is none..." meme

HELLO, SINNERS, welcome to my youtube channel, I'm Adam, the Antichrist, Adversary, Destroyer of Kings, Angel of the Bottomless Pit, Great Beast that is called Dragon, Prince of this World, father of lies, Spawn of Satan, Lord of Darkness.

Today I want to talk to you about the law of attraction, a trend that's been circulating in the self-improvement community recently. And hey, I'm all about the law of attracting! TODAY WE'RE MANIFESTING OUR BEST, MOST SINFUL LIVES.

Now I know some of you are skeptical. Manifestation? What kind of nonsense is that, it's not for us Satanical sinners! Well, I'm here to tell you that is ABSOLUTELY IS. NOT JUST MANIFESTATION, BUT ITS SINFUL BROTHER, DELUSIONS.

LET ME SHARE A REAL LIFE STORY.

I HAVE USED MANIFESTATION MYSELF. IN FACT, I USED IT AT THE EARLY AGE OF ELEVEN. I USED IT TO REVERSE THE APOCALYPSE! Not only that, I delusioned my way out of my bloodline of darkness, made myself related to my adoptive family, created duck aliens, possessed my friends and defied heaven and hell!

SO YOU SEE, YOUR DELUSIONS CAN NOT ONLY MANIFEST YOUR FUTURE, BUT ALSO REWRITE YOUR PAST. BE DELULU. IT WORKS.

Of course, I then reclaimed my Antichrist identity for this Youtube channel, because my good friend Pepper said I needed to stick it to the patriarchy and shake the status quo of the current self-improvement clime. She then said this is not what she meant by that, but HEY! THE LESSON IS, DON'T FOLLOW THE PACK, CARVE YOUR OWN PATH, EVEN IF IT'S A STUPIDER ONE!

MY GOOD FRIEND CROWLEY ALSO MANIFESTED HIS WAY THROUGH THE DREAD SIGIL ODEGRA, DRIVING HIS CAR INTO FLAMES AND EMERGING THE OTHER SIDE.

*Minor Spoilers* Welcome to Willowbrook Hall, or as I like to call it, The Gay and Trans School for Gay and Trans Teens. Come meet professors Mr. Fell and Mr. Crowley, and their colorful cast of teens as they spend the school year getting ready for the performance of a lifetime in the school play. This place has it all: hijinks, dances, costumes, drama, and best of all a cat.

What I really loved about this story was how cinematic it felt. Sure, some scenes intentionally reference a movie (Wild Child, so fun and camp!), but that's not what I mean. The whole thing plays out like a movie or its own TV show. We get big dramatic moments of romance and heartbreak, plus fun ones like a mini makeover, the school dance, and the play. And there is tons of subtle foreshadowing along the way that will make you jump up and down when things come to fruition. It's thrilling and engaging, and waiting for updates when this was a WIP was excruciating because I wanted to know what was going to happen next so badly!

The side characters especially are so much fun! I loved the kids and their side plots. Even though we don’t follow their story directly, we see enough to get hooked. Adam and Warlock are standouts, but they aren't the only ones I enjoyed! Honestly, I'd read a standalone from the kids perspective! The teachers are excellent too. I have a soft spot for Newt, who pops in now and then, always a sweetheart. Crowley could be in the depths of heartbreak and still manage a smile for Newt. All the teachers (plus Nina) don't feel like they're just there. I was interested in them, and you really get a sense of how much of a family they all are. It's a real skill to make side characters as interesting as the main duo.

Of course, the main attraction is Crowley and Aziraphale. They’ll make you fall in love with them all over again. They’re the perfect domestic couple well before they admit anything. So many lovely details about them, from note passing and bets, to their shared bond with Beethoven the cat (aka the best character ever). You'll experience everything with them: the highs of gender discovery and euphoria, and the lows of miscommunication and misunderstandings. What drama is complete without that? Yes, they’re a bit thick headed, and yes, a single conversation could have fixed everything. But where's the fun in that? I'm here for the drama! The pang of heartbreak and yearning makes the reunion so much sweeter! They are wonderfully characterized, and yet still have an air and life of their own. Unique to this story, but true to their characters.

You’ll be mostly safe reading this in public. There are a handful of explicit scenes but you should have enough notice to get away from prying eyes. The sex here is delicious and heart pounding! Plus the way that Crowley's gender fluidity plays into those scenes was very beautiful. There are so many reasons to love this story. It's engaging, cinematic, dramatic, funny, and romantic. This was an incredible achievement and I hope you have just as much fun and I did!

The importance of Richmal Crompton that captivated Sir Terry Pratchett when first reading William The Antichrist- or as we know it today, Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch.

Sir Terry Pratchett was once told by a school teacher that he would never amount to anything. That was one of his childhood memories- rotten humanity limiting knowledge. But that wasn’t the only memory of course. Throughout his life, words and stories always kept him company and one of those emblematic authors whose words cut deep through the bleakness and that made an impact was Richmal Crompton. Better known for writing the “Just William” books.

An impact so strong that this was Sir Terry in 2014 dressed as William Brown from Richmal Crompton’s “Just William” for a series of portraits done for an exhibition inside The Story Museum.

Now, if you know anything about the origins of Good Omens, you’ll know that it had been previously named William the Antichrist- a draft/ file that was around 5282 words long in 1985, exploring a scenario in which Richmal Crompton's William Brown had somehow become the Antichrist. And that called STP’s attention so much that he even offered to buy it off.

Said draft, had it not been sent to Sir Terry and had he not loved it enough to save it in his computer, would have been lost forever since the original file was lost in a computer crash. Sir Terry auto-denominated himself “The Keeper of the Disk”.

My Tweet liked by Rhianna Pratchett: Forever grateful about the fact that Sir Terry loved the draft of William the Antichrist so much because of (inferably) his love for Just William, that, had he not saved the file in his computer when he first received it, Good Omens would have never happened (the original file had been lost in a computer crash).

The original draft had things like these: (my slides I made from owning William The Antichrist).

You can only imagine why he would have been so enthralled by it. This is what Sir Terry had to say when he wrote Good Omens afterwards:

"I seldom let Neil touch any of the bits involving Adam Young himself." (Locus Mag)

And: Initially, I did most of Adam and the Them and Neil did most of the Four Horsemen, and everything else kind of got done by whoever -- by the end, large sections were being done by a composite creature called Terryandneil, whoever was actually hitting the keys. By agreement, I am allowed to say that Agnes Nutter, her life and death, was completely and utterly mine. And Neil proudly claims responsibility for the maggots. Neil's had a major influence on the opening scenes, me on the ending. In the end, it was this book done by two guys, who shared the money equally and did it for fun and wouldn't do it again for a big clock."

"Yes, the maggot reversal was by me, with a gun to Neil's head (although he understood the reasons, it's just that he likes maggots). There couldn't be blood on Adam's hands, even blood spilled by third parties. No-one should die because he was alive." (Terry Pratchett: HisWorld)

It is obvious to see that the love for William Brown is what took him in and something he never let go throughout.

Even though they had to change the name from William to Adam, the Just William spirit was never far away. As you can guess, the Them are just The Outlaws from the Just William books- renamed and regendered.

Various Good Omens sentences are constructed in a way Richmal Crompton would have written them.

The sentence when Anathema tells Adam that she has lost the Book, and he tells her that he has written a book about a pirate who became a famous detective and it is 8 pages long... that's "a William sentence" or in this case an Adam one.

Sir Terry liked Richmal Crompton so much because she wrote stories that ended up reaching a major kids audience, but that at the end of the day, were stories written for adults. The vocabulary was advanced, the subjects were deep, and she never made you feel like a lost child nevertheless.

Here is a snippet of STP talking about her from that same Story Museum broadcast in BBC Radio 4:

Good Omens would have never been shaped into what it is today if STP had not taken those initial 5282 words and completely rewritten them into 10,000. Bringing the irony and humour that he learned through Crompton and that metamorphosed into something completely Pratchett.

Oh look, there's my belated contribution for week fourteen(!) of the Ineffable Prompt-A-Thon. Somehow my initial idea escalated a bit and turned into this monster of seven limericks with accompanying LEGO (and related brands) illustrations! Apparently God loves her Sevens and wouldn't let me get away with anything less. 😉 Enjoy!

There once were an angel and demon, Who loved Earth, but also some scheming. Godfathering a child Might sound quite wild; About saving our world they were dreaming.

There once was an Antichrist called Adam, Who loved shenanigans with The Them. Brought up quite normal, Not divine, nor infernal, The Apocalypse he did condemn!

There once was a planet pretty blue, With twinkling stars for a gorgeous view. When extinction loomed, Her champions felt doomed, Yet sabotaged the Great Plan coming true.

There once was a plan so ineffable, That it was completely inaccessible. Neither Heaven nor Hell Could really tell If saving Earth hadn’t been intentional.

Once again there were our angel and demon, But this time the Metatron was scheming, Taking away their breath, Serving coffee or death, Namely a promotion and a redeeming.

Then there were plans for a Second Coming. (Sadly not in the sense of good punning.) Will Jesus come back? Will Earth finally crack? No, it must be saved from succumbing!

In the end there will always be love, Despite Hell below and Heaven above. A South Downs cottage? Some yummy…. pottage? There will be a Happy End to speak of!

@ineffablyruined Once again, thank you for another lovely prompt that gave me a much needed "butt kicking" to finally make Aziraphale's flaming sword and Crowley's crank for a recreation of that scene from season one.

Also, sorry for the delay, but it took me quite some time to put all this together! It was fun, though! Hopefully my interpretation of the prompt works? After weeks of changing things around again and again my initial concept got a bit scrambled (like my brain)! 😉
