i truly think solas should have been bi for several reasons:

it's equality, he's literally an immortal being who cares more about The Soul of his lover than anything else, if he's elf-locked anyway then why not guy elves. let male lavellans be lovelorn and miserable. the dialogue would be the exact same.

deters the type of person who gets upset about their fantasy blorbo theoretically being attracted to other genders. goodbye toxic heterosexuals.

deters - and this is crucial - the snide condescension towards female (generally) fans for liking "a morally complex antagonistic protagonist". as well as deterring the devs from writing a romanced lavellan in veilguard as an unfortunately wet blanket who's on that "uwu but i still love himmmm... 🥺😔" type of YA novel mindset, regardless of how you wanted her to react to such a difficult situation. either all lavellans should be written as equally pathetic about it and their players derided by the developers, or people register how weird it looks when it's about a guy (clearly it did not bother them to write several previously strong female characters as suddenly mild and soft, and call mostly female fans stupid 🙄) and stop.

solassan could be Real and Extremely Heartbreaking.
