Hesitantly, Sigmund made his way from his hiding place to where Tamatoa was having his moment- though he'd keep his thoughts on that to himself. "You wanted to talk?" He maintained polite civility, allowing Tamatoa to set the tone of the conversation. If the crab wanted to have an attitude or maintain his righteous indignation, he'd respond in kind. Otherwise, hed be perfectly pleasant.
Tamatoa held Alinna a little tighter, but as Sigmund stepped out of hiding, he frowned as he casually but painfully obviously avoided eye contact.
“Seems we got off on the wrong foot…” he muttered. It Las already leagues better than his intimidation tactics before, but there was still mild resentment hiding just behind his words… but hey, he was trying.
“Now that I know who you’re pursuing, I must ask… what draws you to my mate here?” An antenna dipped down and brushed Alinna’s cheek. “… and what are your intentions?”

With an expression of indifference Evil Kip... Kipling stepped into the staff lounge and made a beeline for the couch that his mutant sloth had already been occupying. How they got there was another mystery entirely. It didn't take him long to notice the other in the room, but he didn't bother with addressing her until he was comfortable. "Afternoon, Jaylin." He said, offering a lazy wave. "I figured you'd be out there worshipping Black Hat. You ARE his new little acolyte, aren't you?"
The dark-clothed woman looked up from her book, peering over her glasses with clear annoyance as she snapped the leather-bound guide shut.
“Worshipping? Hardly,” she scoffed as she set it down on top of a pile of papers she’d been signing. “I respect him as a villain and as my employer, but I don’t debase myself over him like his other lackeys.”
Her glare moved to the mutant creature, and her face contorted in controlled disgust. “Must you bring that THING inside?”

The other regarded Twoey with a smile and slight tilt of the head. "Now what a strange place for a carnivorous plant. I would've thought you'd be somewhere with more people around. An easier supply of blood at the very least." Cheeseburger the sloth slowly crawled up Kip's shoulder to get a better look at Twoey before 'mleh'-ing his approval. "Looks like you passed the character test; Cheeseburger likes you."
His smirk grew. “Believe me, I found out that I was more of a city plant than anythin’ else. Shit happened and I wanted ta get away for a while. Wasn’t gonna stay long, but meh… wanted to grow and adapt a bit more here. I get by~” Twoey then stared at the sloth. He had never seen a sloth before, so seeing this strange alien-looking monkey thing on this supposedly human’s shoulder surprised him a bit. But it wasn’t the weirdest thing.
“Good to see Cheeseburger has good taste~ And I take it you feel the same?”

Hun, you're totally a Gryffindor. I promise that I, as a Slytherin, don't hate you, though. ;P
You really think so? Can you explain why I’d be a Gryffindor?
I just honestly don’t see it... ._.

With a sigh, Brian materialized in front of Tam's face. "You need to calm down." He said firmly, crossing his arms. "Acting like that isn't going to help anything and you know it. So cool down and let them talk. The anon you bit in half was right about one thing, you've been in their shoes before. So let them talk." Brian gave Tam his best "angry mom" look that left little room for argument.
Tamatoa growled. “How the hell am I suppose to calm down when it seems like ALL of my mates have secrets coming out of the woodwork?”
... But then it seemed to dawn on him which mate he was talking to, and he slowly reined in the outrage.
“Fine... Whatever...” he hissed through his teeth.

"Calm down, Kai." Konani stepped out into the rain as well. "Take a breath and ssslow down. I need you to tell me what'sss going on ssso that I can properly help. I'm not going to do anything drassstic, okay? And nothing without your permisssion. Ssso tell me, what'sss going to hurt a lot of people?"
Kai was long past the point of being able to calm down... And he wouldn’t be reach that point again any time soon.
He paced outside the cave, clutching his head and leaving puddles in the sand behind him. His expression still practically televised the ongoing battle going on in his head...
Tell? Don’t Tell? What if telling would end up getting his new mates killed? If he stayed silent, would he still responsible? He clenched his teeth and chirped and chattered to himself as he tried to think what to do...
But Konani’s promise not to do anything was what settled it...
And Kaitaiki broke like a dam.
“Parasites... My... Two of my new mates have parasites... Really.. REALLY bad ones...”
He collapsed, claws still clutching his head as he buried his face in the sand.
“It’s... It’s already too late for them... Those ‘eggs’ they’re protecting... they’re not eggs at all! They’re a barnacle that... that...” His words caught in his throat, as if fighting not to be said, but Kaitaiki barely won as he spat them out. “That took over their minds! They... They might not even be female crabs, but the barnacle made them think they have been all their lives! A-and if the... If it manages to make eggs, they...”
He could feel his blood run cold again. “They could infect other crabs in Lalotai... My siblings... Tamatoa... Everyone!”
... And yet...
“B-but it’s not their fault! It’s NOT! They... They really think those barnacles are their children... They’re not going to let them die... and... And I don’t want to hurt them! Konani, I love them! I can’t do it!”

"I absolutely would love the idea of all us mates having a singing competition called Lalotai Idol, but I refuse to participate." Honestly, Brian was seriously lacking in confidence with any sort of artistic ability- singing included. Shy ghost is shy.
“Aw, why not, babe? You sound amazing~”

Brian let up his strict look and put a hand on Tam's cheek. "I say this because I love you, hun. I don't want you to push them away because you're angry and want to lash out. We all have secrets and they were waiting for the right time to tell you theirs." He kiss Tam's cheek and smiled sadly. "Go easy on them, okay, love?"
“Love you too, kid...” he muttered half-heartedly, even though he still meant it. “... I’ll try.”

"It'sss not completely back to normal, but it'sss enough to live in. Tell them what'sss going on and get them there. I'll make sssure it'sss ready for them." He put a comforting hand on Kai's face. "It'sss going to be okay."
The crab leaned into his hand, and nodded... Heartbreaking how such a large monster, several hundreds of years old, looked like a frightened child right now as everything fell apart.
“O-okay... I’ll... I’ll try to get them over there as fast as I can...”

"I'll fucking kill them." Oh hey look it's snake dad.
"Konani!” Kaitiaki quickly scrambled to his side. “We gotta get everyone out of here! Has... Has the Grove grown back yet? O-or... Or where are the others all staying? We need to hide Harakore and Itoito and Jay!”

This was serious. Extremely serious. "You need to tell sssomeone... But telling your father would result in their deathsss... What about that demigoddesss? Briar? Ssshe hasss magic that... If my hunch isss correct... Might be able to reverssse the processs and sssave them... Though I sssuppossse we have other beingsss who could do the sssame, but their price is sssteep."
“B-brier?”
A single eyestalk popped out from beneath the sand... the white of Kai’s eye already stained light blue.
“Do... Do you really think she could... she could help them? I-I don’t want them to get hurt, and I... I know they care about their barnacles like eggs and I... I don’t want to make them hurt more than they already have been...”
He looked down at the ground. “... And it’s... It’s not like the barnacles are... are doing anything they’re not supposed to... I-it’s like when... when a monster gets trapped on the surface... and attacks a village... They’re-they’re not meaning to do harm, but that’s how they survive! I-I just...”
Kaitiaki’s poor mind was getting pulled in so many different directions at once... He felt like he was going to pass out from all this stress crashing down on him at once.

That was quite the conundrum. "... I sssupossse it would depend on the sssuffering causssed. But becaussse I know Jay, I know that ssshe wouldn't want to be resssponsssible for the deathsss or sssuffering of othersss, whether it'sss her fault or not. What kind of hurt are we talking? Quick pain or prolonged sssuffering?" He couldn't help but wonder where this question came from.
“Well... I-I mean... they don’t... seem to be suffering... Not... Not physically, anyway...”
But Kai’s words were choked, and his antennae drooped even further as the book’s description repeated on loop in his mind.
It... It sounded awful... unnatural... a living nightmare! ... but...
He whined and curled a little tighter. “You’d... You’d still love her, right?... It... It wouldn’t be bad for you to... to still care about her... Right? Even if she... She...”
His words gave way to distressed chirping.

Konani immediately scowled and furrowed his brow. "What happened, Kai? You look like sssomeone ssswept the rug from under you." He moved to put a hand on the other's cheek, everything about him exuding paternal protectiveness.
Kaitiaki hesitated as he looked back at him... his face told a story of conflicting desires... He wanted to tell Konani everything... He wanted to say exactly what was going through his head, but something inside him just...
... couldn’t...
The young crab deflated, tearing his gaze away again as he shifted in his spot.
Perhaps he could approach it another way.
“... ... ... What would... What would you do, if... If Jay tuned out to be something... different than who you thought she was? ... Something that could... that could hurt a lot of the monsters you know, e-even though it... wouldn’t be her fault?”
He probably could’ve worded it better, but regardless, he waited for Konani’s answer.

"Take it from someone who's job has been wooing people for longer than you've been alive. If you really care for someone. If you REALLY want them to know that you're a good person to be with. You do not. Throw them. Into a situation they're not ready for. Like a damn interrogation. If you wanted to know so badly, just ask. Be calm. And ask. Had you done that in the past, they'd have immediately opened up to you. But you have a history of acting like a damn fool, so of course they'd hesitate."
Tamatoa scowled... but once again said nothing...
The demon was right, as much as he hated to admit it... But thousands of years of anger and grudge-holding was hard to break though, and he was still bitter about all these secrets.
... Perhaps he just needed some time to cool down before approaching this again...
So without another word or any kind of explanation, he huffed at Zeke and trudged toward the cave exit... Let him make his own conclusions. He simply didn’t care right now...
