Went into a local gas station to grab snacks...and had the cashier "preach" to me via /r/atheism

Long story short, went out to grab a few snacks for my wife and I after we got our daughters asleep. After picking out my stuff, and ringing it up, the total comes to $6.65.

The cashier looks at me (covered in tattoos with a nose ring) and smiles, saying "Well, I guess you are lucky that it wasn't a penny more!"

I looked back at him confused, as I was not paying attention to what he was saying. I said "excuse me?"

He then says "Yeah, because you know, 666 is the mark of the devil. That is the devil's number," and then went on a spiel about how the devil was supposed to come back on June 6, 2006.

I just laughed and said "well, I think that he missed his window then. I guess that is only relative if you actually believe that the devil is real. I don't believe he is, same as I don't believe God is real."

He just stared at me, then defiantly said "God is real, and the devil is too."

​

I took my receipt, said "have a good one, bud," and walked back to my car.

Being an atheist, living in a bible thumping and conservative area, this kind of crap happens all the time.
