- Some of the fics will be explicit, & will be marked accordingly. If you are below 18, I recommend not clicking on links marked with the mature or explicit label.

- Feel free to submit your own stories! Whether sending a link through the ask box, tagging this blog on a post you made, or writing something in the submissions box, I'll accept all of it!

- English only! Unfortunately, I only speak English, meaning I can't properly recommend fics in other languages. If a fic has a translation into English, feel free to submit!

- You can also ask for help finding a certain fic! Maybe you read a great one a few months ago & can no longer find it. I'm here to help! Just send an ask containing what you remember, & I'll do my best to find it.

- Mind the tags! If you click on a link, be sure to check the tags of the story! I only include the rating, summary, & if it's complete or not.

- What counts as a fic? Any written piece of content that tells a story! Only 100 words? It's getting recommended! Written using a weird format? It's getting recommended!

You must be 18+ and have an AO3 account to participate in the exchange. If you do not have an account, you can request an invitation to join the Archive here.

Note: In case the mod team needs to reach out to you, AO3 shows us the e-mail address you use to log in. If you end up unmatchable or if your creator sends us a question to forward to you, we will use this e-mail address. Be sure to be able to access it, check it regularly while the exchange is running—and, if your legal name is in it, to change it if you don’t want the mod team to see it! How to sign up

Click on 'Sign Up'/'Sign-up Form' on the exchange's profile page (or click here) to fill out your requests and offers.

You must submit at least 3 requests (at least one per box) for characters and/or relationships that you would like to receive fanfiction and/or fanart about. You can add additional request boxes, up to 10.

For each request box, choose 'Warhammer 40.000' as the fandom.

Add 1-20 characters or relationships from the exchange tag set. You can search for nominated characters/relationships using the drop-down menu. We allow up to 20 character/relationship tags per request, but please be mindful of the person receiving your request and try not to go overboard. You have to fill out Request 1, 2 and 3 with at least one character/relationship in each; if possible, group together tags that share the same character(s) or canon source, DNWs, or other characteristics into a single request.

Choose whether you'd like to receive only fanfiction, only fanart, or both. You can choose different media(s) for each request.

Linking to a 'dear creator' letter on an external website, i.e., a tumblr blog post, Google Doc, Dreamwidth page, etc. going into further details about your preferences, is optional. The person assigned to you is not obligated to read it, but may find it helpful for inspiration. Please make sure your page is publicly available; some tumblr links can only be accessed by tumblr users.

Use the text box for suggestions, optional prompts and preferences. Keep in mind that we have all sorts of participants, so be as broad as possible to inspire others without restricting their creativity — optional details are optional and your creator is not required to stick to your suggestions, but having a general idea of whether you like fluff/action/comedy/smut, the Great Crusade/Horus Heresy/M40/M42-era, your favourite tropes, art styles, etc. is very helpful. You MUST list anything you Do Not Want (DNW) to see in a gift, such as squicks and triggers. The mods will check your gift to make sure it doesn't contain any of your DNWs, but we only check for the specific ones listed in this text box. You will only be matched with one other participant and required to create a single gift regardless of how many offers you submit.

Choose whether you'd like to create only fanfiction, only fanart, or both. You'll only be required to make one gift for your assignment even if you offer both.

Please return to check before the sign-up deadline (June 16, 11:59am CET/5:59am EDT) that your offers match at least one request by another participant in the exchange.

If your offers don't match anyone else's requests by the time of the deadline, the mods will e-mail you to ask if you would like to add additional offers. If you do not respond to this e-mail within 12 hours or decline to add additional offers, your sign-up will be deleted.

Once you have filled out at least 3 requests and offers, hit 'Submit' at the bottom of the page. You have now signed up to participate in the exchange and your requests will be visible to other participants in the Request Summary.

You can edit/add to your requests and offers by clicking 'My Sign-up' on the exchange profile page. Note: After the sign-up deadline, only the mods will be able to edit your sign-up details.

"What if there is someone I don't want to be matched with?"

The best way to ensure a fun and enjoyable exchange experience is to keep an eye on the Request Summary and adjust your offers based on other participants' requests. Maybe you'll see something that inspires you to offer characters or relationships you didn't consider before — or maybe someone requests something for one of your offers that you would rather not create, in which case it's perfectly fine to edit your offers so you won't risk matching on that particular character/relationship.

If, however, there is another participant that you do not want to be matched with, please e-mail us at 40kfanworkexchange@gmail.com before the sign-up deadline and let us know:

OOC Posts and Reblogs

As the name suggests, this is just me having fun sharing memes, fanart, fanfictions and so on. These posts will be tagged as #Mod speaks and #Mod reblogs. If interacting with people via comments, I also use //mod to clarify who's speaking, as well as )) at the end of my messages in DMs. If you want to ask me a question/make a request for me personally, please address we with "Mod", so I know whom you're targeting.

In Character Interactions

A big part of this blog are my RP interactions with Tumblr users or other RP accounts in character. You will find a lot of One-Liner-Style Roleplay Posts on here. Character reactions will always be tagged with #Sasori RP. Additionally, all my answers/reblogs/posts in character will be written in red font.

As of now, there are no limitations to Asks. You can ask a question or hop straight into RP if you want. Keep in mind though, that if you wish to start a longterm RP, I'd prefer you to contact me via DMs, so that our back and forth doesn't clutter my feed for an extended period of time.

Feel free to tag me on any posts you'd like Sasori's reaction to.

The short-term interactions are open for anyone to reblog and interact with.

Don't forget, that Sasori is an impatient, rarely polite rogue who turns people into puppets for fun. He'll likely not be nice.

Roleplaying Semi-Lit/Lit/Novella

If you're interested in longterm RP, please contact me via DMs or send me an Ask, so that I can contact you. I'll discuss the plot and ideas with you, exchange requirements and will decide eventually, if I'm down or not. I don't have a lot of time, therefore I don't want to commit to too many Roleplays at once. I also only commit to Roleplays, that personally inspire me. For everything else, such as RPs that aren't fully my cup of tea, for crack interactions and similar things, I offer the short-term interactions I mentioned above.

As of now, this committed type of RP will be tagged as #Longterm RP for the time being. Perhaps I will come up with a better solution in the future. Despite it being RP, it will not be coloured in the before mentioned font colour, so as to increase the readability of long walls of text.

The Long-Term Roleplays are closed threads. Only the person whom I've agreed to RP with, is allowed to reblog the posts.

General Rules

Everyone is welcome on my blog. Regardless of gender, sexuality, ethnicity and age. Keep in mind though, that this blog may contain content for mature audiences, such as violence, cursing, sex and occasional (written) gore. I will try my best to tag sensitive posts as mature.

-> I know it can be annoying that all the fun accounts are minors DNI, so I try to keep this blog as open as possible, so that people under 18 get the chance to ask their favourite character questions as well. Be aware though, that I also post mature content. Interaction at your own risk.

I value open communication. If something is making you uncomfortable or upset, please tell me. We can then talk things out and work out a solution.

I'm not available for any hate speeches/angry rants/passive aggressiveness etc. If you try to involve me in any of these things, regardless of whether it is directed towards me, my friends or a stranger, I will block you. That said, for all those who have heard of the Anon Drama of the past few months: I am no longer involved with the people in question. I have cut contact with them for my wellbeing and sanity and do not want to be associated with them anymore. Do not send me updates, screenshots or posts about things that may or may not have been said about me. I have moved on. OOC Posts and Reblogs

As the name suggests, this is just me having fun sharing memes, fanart, fanfictions and so on. These posts will be tagged as #Mod speaks and #Mod reblogs. If interacting with people via comments, I also use //mod to clarify who's speaking, as well as )) at the end of my messages in DMs. If you want to ask me a question/make a request for me perosnally, please address we with "Mod", so I know whom you're targeting.

In Character Interactions

A big part of this blog are my RP interactions with Tumblr users or other RP accounts in character. You will find a lot of One-Liner-Style Roleplay Posts on here. Character reactions will always be tagged with #Shisui RP. Additionally, all my answers/reblogs/posts in character will be written in blue font.

As of now, there are no limitations to Asks. You can ask a question or hop straight into RP if you want. Keep in mind though, that if you wish to start a longterm RP, I'd prefer you to contact me via DMs, so that our back and forth doesn't clutter my feed for an extended period of time.

The short-term character interactions are open for anyone to reblog and interact.

If I don't reply to you right away, that can include the following reasons: I haven't seen it yet, I need to think of a good reply (I value accuracy), I'm too busy with life rn, or I may have overread it. Please never assume I ignore you on purpose or out of malicious intent. I will get to you, I promise.

Roleplaying Semi-Lit/Lit/Novella

If you're interested in longterm RP, please contact me via DMs or send me an Ask, so that I can contact you. I'll discuss the plot and ideas with you, exchange requirements and will decide eventually, if I'm down or not. I don't have a lot of time, therefore I don't want to commit to too many Roleplays at once. I also only commit to Roleplays, that personally inspire me. For everything else, such as RPs that aren't fully my cup of tea, for crack interactions and similar things, I offer the short-term interactions I mentioned above.

As of now, this committed type of RP will be tagged as #Longterm RP for the time being. Perhaps I will come up with a better solution in the future. Despite it being RP, it will not be coloured in the before mentioned font colour, so as to increase the readability of long walls of text.

The Long-Term Roleplays are closed threads. Only the person whom I've agreed to RP with, is allowed to reblog the posts.

General Rules

Everyone is welcome on my blog. Regardless of gender, sexuality, ethnicity and age. Keep in mind though, that this blog may contain content for mature audiences, such as violence, cursing, sex and occasional (written) gore. I will try my best to tag sensitive posts as mature.

-> I know it can be annoying that all the fun accounts are minors DNI, so I try to keep this blog as open as possible, so that people under 18 get the chance to ask their favourite character questions as well. Be aware though, that I also post mature content. Interaction at your own risk.

I value open communication. If something is making you uncomfortable or upset, please tell me. We can then talk things out and work out a solution.

I'm not available for any hate speeches/angry rants/passive aggressiveness etc. If you try to involve me in any of these things, regardless of whether it is directed towards me, my friends or a stranger, I will block you. This blog is a safe space. If you have something important to share, you can do so in a constructive manner.

That said, for all those who have heard of the Anon Drama of the past few months: I am no longer involved with the people in question. I have cut contact with them for my wellbeing and sanity and do not want to be associated with them anymore. If you have questions on the topic, please contact me privately, I'll gladly give you a heads-up. Do not send me updates, screenshots or posts about things that may or may not have been said about me. I have moved on. Should you not have heard about the Anon Drama, thank your guardian angel and ignore this point.

I do not do Longterm RPs with OCs at the moment. That may change in the future. OCs are however welcome to send me Asks and make reblogs for me to react to in character.

Keep in mind that me and my characters are two separate people. Their actions and beliefs do not equal my own, neither do I hold grudges against anyone whom my characters may have insulted.

Lastly, have fun! This blog is meant to bring joy to both me and all those who love Shisui, so don't hesitate to interact. I love each and every question I receive and I am thankful for everyone who allows me to indulge in some fun and games with my favourite characters.

Marvel Fans 4 BLM - Rules and FAQ!

What is Marvel Fans 4 BLM?

Marvel Fans 4 BLM is a charity auction where fans offer works in exchange for donations. Our focus is to raise money for various Black Lives Matter organizations as well as focus on creating content for Black Marvel characters. 

Who is allowed to participate?

All fans from any and all Marvel fandoms are welcome! We ask that if you are under 18, you do not offer or request explicit rated content.

How does it work?

Creators sign up to offer their works. Bidders then pledge donation amounts in auction-style. The winning bidder donates their pledged amount to a charity; once that donation is confirmed, the creator starts, uh, creating!

Monday 6 July - Sunday 12 July: Auction Week

What items are acceptable for creators to offer?

All creations should be centered around one or more canon Black characters in any Marvel fandom (movies, comics, TV - any Marvel adaptations!). Other characters are welcome to join the fun, as long as they are not the main focus. Shipping and Gen content alike are welcome! Creations accepted are:

- Fanfic

- Digital art (original art, moodboards, manips, edits, etc.)

- Physical art (artworks, crafts, merch, etc.)

- Podfic

- Fan vids

- Translations

- Fan labor (beta work, sensitivity reading, culture-picking, fact checking, SPAG editing, etc.)

If you’d like to offer something not listed, feel free to ask.

I wanna be a creator! Tell me more!

More details will be shared at each stage, but here’s an outline to get you started! 

Creator sign-ups run from Monday 15 June to Sunday 28 June. You’ll sign up via a Google form and there you can specify what type of fanwork(s) you are offering with some relevant details like characters, pairings, and content you are willing to create in addition to other notes for bidders to see!

As well as fundraising for important causes, this event is intended to create new content for our favorite Black Marvel characters. With that in mind, we will not accept any previously published or created works. The exception to this is physical goods and crafts. 

After the auction closes, we will put you in touch with the highest bidder and from there you two work together to create something great! Once you have your bidder’s prompt, you’ll have until 31 January 2021 to complete your work for them. We’ll have a check-in on 15 November but it’s up to you to follow through by the 2021 deadline. Unfortunately, failure to complete by the deadline will mean you will be unable to participate in future events - until you meet your obligation to your bidder.

You can offer up to three works for auction, but please be honest and respect your limits. We want both creators and bidders to end with a complete work and enjoy the process! For physical goods, it is up to you and your bidder to decide how to handle shipping - keep this in mind when setting your starting bidding price. 

After posting, you can tag us in and any works that follow our rules will be included in our AO3 collection and featured on our Tumblr!

From 29 June through 5 July, you will be able to view all items up for bid, as well as check out each creator’s other works to get a feel for what they can do. You may also reach out to contact individual creators if you have questions. We recommend that if you have a specific idea in mind, or a rarepair, or something the creator has never done before, that you reach out and confirm they will be able to fulfil your request before you bid on them.

From 6 July through 12 July, bidding will be open. All bids will be placed in US dollars, with a $5 minimum starting bid and a $2 minimum incremental bid. Bidding will not be anonymous. Group bids are welcome. 

You may bid on as many items as you like, but please keep in mind that you cannot retract a bid, so make sure you can commit to donating the amount(s) that you bid. You may donate to any of our approved organizations listed below, or ask the mods for approval to donate to another cause that is working towards BLM goals.

For physical fanworks, whether or not your final bid includes shipping will be up to the creator. Once we receive confirmation of the donation, we’re no longer responsible for communication between creators and bidders. Be aware that for physical fanworks, creators will need your address to send you the item. If you aren’t comfortable giving out personal information, we suggest you bid on other auctions instead.

Once the auction is over, we will confirm the final amount for your winning bid(s); do not donate until you receive this confirmation. As soon as we have proof of your donation (pdf receipt that shows date, organization, and amount, all other info can be redacted) we will put you in touch with your creator. At this point, it is up to the two of you to work out how you’d like to proceed to ensure that the bid is fulfilled by 31 January 2021.

If you don’t hear from your creator after we connect you, please reach out to them yourself! If it has been a couple of months and you haven’t heard from them at all despite your efforts to get in touch, let us know and we’ll try to contact your creator on your behalf or help you assess the situation. Unfortunately, there’s always an inherent risk that a creator may fall through for various reasons. If this happens, we hope that knowing that you donated money to support an amazing cause will lessen the disappointment of not receiving a promised fanwork.

Remember that this event is designed to create content for Black Marvel characters, so please be sure to keep your requested works aligned with our Content & Conduct guidelines.

What charities will be supported?

We want participants to feel connected to where their efforts are going. There are multiple organizations linked in our Resources section below, along with master list sites that are updated regularly as new donation opportunities arise.

Creators will be allowed to specify up to three sites that they’d like their winning bidder to support with their donation. Any of the sites or organizations linked in our Resources section are acceptable. Creators can also decline to list a preference, and their winning bidder will be permitted to donate to any of the sites or organizations linked in our Resources section.

We are also open to suggestions! Other donation opportunities requested by the creator and vetted by the mods will be welcome.

Can I sign up to provide more than one offering? Can I sign up as a creator and a bidder? Can I bid on more than one offering? 

The answer to all of these is an enthusiastic yes! Creators can make up to three offerings. Just be sure not to spread yourself too thin; we want everyone to have a successful participation. Do not agree to participate, either as a creator or a bidder, unless you are absolutely committed to following through.

Content & Conduct

This event is designed to spotlight Black characters in a positive way. This doesn’t mean we require fluff, smiles, and happy endings, but it does mean that for this event, we require that you think critically about what you are presenting and how that representation fits within the larger context of the way fandom treats characters of color.

All creations must be centered around one or more canon Black characters, meaning they must be the main focus of the story, artwork, etc. They should not be sidelined in favor of other characters, and if there is any shipping (which is not required, Gen creations are more than welcome) they should be in the main pairing.

This event is designed specifically to support BLM and therefore we expect all participants and creations to align with the values of the movement. To that end, we ask that you do not create or request fanworks that celebrate law enforcement or the military. This is not the appropriate event for a cop AU or similar. For characters canonically affiliated with law enforcement or the military, be critical of how those institutions are portrayed, as well as how BIPOC are treated by and within those institutions.

Some additional points to keep in mind:

- Some Marvel characters have canonical physical, mental, and emotional disabilities - including invisible ones like chronic pain and mental illness. These should be treated respectfully, with due diligence given to portraying their lived experience.

- No perpetrating anti-Black stereotypes or tropes.

- No sympathetically portrayed Hydra or other Nazi analogues.

- No explicit or romantically portrayed non-con.

- No sexual/romantic relationships between adult and minor characters.

- No sexual/romantic relationships between family members.

- All content shared publicly should be tagged appropriately and thoroughly. 

Any offerings or creations that do not adhere to these guidelines will not be promoted on any of our social media platforms, and may affect your ability to participate in future events.

Artist Claiming Information for the Harry/Draco Big Bang 2021

Artist claiming for the Harry/Draco Big Bang is almost upon us! So exciting! So we thought it was time for a post with all of the information you beautiful, wonderful artists need to know to join in the fun. If you need more information, please shoot us an email at harrydracobang@gmail.com and we'll get back to you ASAP.

The schedule for artists is below:

June 11: Author Summaries Available for viewing June 13 at 9 AM EST: Artist Claiming Opens! ~June 18: Author & Artist names exchanged July 16: Artists Checkpoint August 16: Final fic & art submissions due September 13: The Big Bang will start posting!

In order to assist you with making your claim, please see the key information below the cut.

Claiming: On June 11, the summaries of the fanfics available for claiming will be made available to all registered Artists via email. In order to view these summaries, you must register as an artist here. Registering does not commit you to creating for this challenge, but it does indicate a strong interest in participating. The summaries will contain the details of the participants' fanfics, including any content warnings. The writers have also been asked to consider the mood and style of art they feel would be best suited to the fanwork and the level of collaboration they would like to have with participating artists, in order to ensure good matches. Please don’t feel too stifled by these requests, however. The authors are aware there is no guarantee that the artist will want to collaborate with them as they would like.

Claiming Post: On June 13, we will make a post on tumblr linking to the google form that you will use to claim. We will also send out an email to all of our artists with the link directly, so please don't worry if you're not on tumblr! Please complete that google form to claim your preferred choice of fic. You'll receive an automatic email confirmation that we've received your claim once you submit your google form. Once all of the fics have been claimed, and sometime before June 18, the mods will email you with a final confirmation of the fic, or fics, you have successfully claimed, and encourage you to reach out to your writer.

How 'finished' are the fics? I don’t want to claim something which has only been half-written: None of the fics have been made available for claiming unless the mods are satisfied the participant has advanced sufficiently to complete their fic by the deadline. All of the authors listed have submitted at least 80% of their fic, and only have a couple of scenes left to write. When you are matched with an author, they will be able to provide this draft to you so that you can choose the scenes you find most inspiring. However, these fanworks are currently drafts which we expect the authors will edit heavily before final submissions are due. Even if you choose not to collaborate closely, we recommend a dialogue with your author, to ensure that scenes you decide to illustrate are not going to be cut during the writer's editing process.

Can I claim more than one fic? We will be asking all artists to indicate on their claim forms their top three choices, as well as asking whether they would be prepared to produce additional art for other fics. It is possible that artists may end up illustrating for two fics (one piece for each as per the minimum fest requirement for two pieces of art). If you also indicate you are happy to produce additional art beyond the minimum requirement, the mods may contact you, together with confirming your primary claim details, regarding illustrations for another fic. 

What if not all fics are claimed? The mods will be working tirelessly to ensure that this is not the case.

When are the authors notified of the claim? Can I contact them right away? In order to ensure that every fanfic has at least one artist, we ask that you do not contact any authors until the mods have confirmed that it is okay to do so. We will send an email introducing the artists and authors to one another, and then step out of the picture and let you take it from there by June 18. 

How many pieces of art will the artists create? The minimum requirement is two pieces of art. If you are assigned to a single fic, then you are required to create a minimum of two pieces of art for that fic. If you are assigned to two fics, then you are required to create a minimum of one piece of art for each fic. There is no maximum and if you would like to illustrate more scenes, please do so! If you have signed up to pinch hit or to specifically produce a one-off illustration, you will simply be required to produce one piece.

What kind of artwork do I need to submit? All participating artists will be required to commit to two detailed drawings of a suitable standard, as opposed to drawbles or concept sketches. There is no requirement for the art to be coloured - we know some of our favourite fandom artists are wonderful with pencils and charcoal and we don’t want to place any unnecessary constraints on the artists. We will not be accepting photo manipulations, lego art, crafts etc. for this particular fest although we appreciate (and love!) the time and effort that goes into those fanworks. 

Will more than one artist work on any one fic? Aside from those fics where the authors and artists have signed up to collaborate from the outset, it is possible that more than one artist will work on the same fic. Where more than one artist is working on any given fic the mods will provide contact details so the artists can ensure that they are not working on the same scenes. 

I can do more than two pieces of art, no problem. How can I help? As above, all artists will be asked if they wish to illustrate scenes from other fics. We will contact any willing artists on a case by case basis. You may also decide to collaborate more closely with the author of your 'claimed' fic and produce more art for that particular fic. Finally, we will also be looking for artists to pinch hit on the off-chance we have artists drop out and although we hope we don't need to contact you, if you are willing to pinch hit, it would be great if you could let us know via the claim form. 

What if I claim a story based on the summary and then I don’t like the fic? It's tough, but mismatches do happen. Just as we request authors not view the art as a 'gift', we would also ask the artists to try to work with the story they have claimed. The one exception we will make is if the artist discovers material they are triggered or squicked by to the extent they feel they cannot proceed, in which case we will suggest they select another piece. We very much hope to avoid this by including appropriate warnings in the summary section which the artists can keep in mind when claiming.

How will the Harry/Draco Big Bang post? The headers will post on the Harry/Draco Big Bang community on tumblr, and the stories themselves will post in an AO3 collection with the art embedded in the story. Additionally, artists may choose to host an art-only work on AO3, their personal journals, or on Tumblr, provided they include a link to the illustrated fic(s). 

The mods will be posting and revealing works on AO3 during a 1-2 week period in September 2021. Artists should not post their art until the fic is revealed as per the fest schedule. All participants will be informed of that schedule before the fest starts. 

Anything else? All participating artists must be over the age of 18 and must be able to demonstrate at least one example of fanart, whether produced for HP fandom or otherwise. If you're here, we're guessing you satisfy that criteria!

Introduction Post!

Hey everybody! So I decided that I'd settle down and properly do an introduction post. It's something I've been wanting to do for a while but just haven't gotten around to doing it. Now that there's quite a few of you guys (many that I'm now personally friends with!) I decided it's about time that you get to know me a bit. If you'd like to know more about me read below the cut!

This is my cutie 'mascot' I guess you could call it. Sona? I don't really know. She's a mixture of those plague doctors designs and a shy guy from mario! I've had her for years with no real use until now. I'm just happy that she has a purpose now!

(I had a picture with her color palette but I lost it. Whoops. She's basically just got a white mask and her robes are dark purple if anybody was curious. My babe is also super tiny. Rules

First and foremost, because this is a general event meant to celebrate the novel in all its entirety, all ships—or lack thereof—are welcome in the fan works created. And below we will describe the rules of participation.

Propriety 

Though there is a screen between us, please do remember that all participants and we Mods are all humans. Always remember to speak with respect and kindness.

A huge part of this event is collaborative, so all participants must be mindful and respect one another’s squicks and no gos within the artist/writer teams.

General Requirements

Do not post the entirety of your works to any social media until your assigned posting date, however teasers are permitted to an extent. If you have a question about whether or not your teaser is too revealing, please ask us, that’s why we’re here.

You must comply with mandatory deadlines and check-ins; failure to do so will result in ineligibility to participate in the bang. This will make your art invalid to claim or require a pinch hitter to write the story in your stead. Though, we understand emergencies and life issues can get in the way, just please be open and honest with your Mods.

Artist Requirements

All art pieces must be created for this specific event by your own two hands, you cannot turn in an already published piece or anything of the like.

You cannot claim your own art if you decide to also participate as an author.

I know you’ve read this a thousand times over, but this is a—let’s say it together now—collaborative event! So you are highly (HIGHLY) suggested to be in contact with your author and to communicate with them through the process. Due to this, please give each other up-to-date contact information whether through Tumblr, Discord, Twitter, or email when you begin communicating. 

Artist Specifics 

Digital traditional art: Your final piece must be no smaller than 800x600 pixels, and the idea of a completed art piece is up to uour  discretion, what you would ordinarily post on ur own blog. You are permitted to create more pieces to accompany the story if you so wish once you and your author begin collaborating (but this is completely optional).

Comics must be at least one full page.

Playlist entries should have at least 12 tracks in the queue, with a completed front and back cover, and a accessible link.

Graphic edits should include a coherent story arc, while adhering to Tumblr sizing limitations.

Author Specifics 

You cannot claim your own work if you also signed up as an artist.

The minimum word count is five thousand (5,000) words and absolutely no maximum, but do take caution that your fic must be completed and beta’d by the final submission date.

All writing pieces must be beta read before publication. You may use your own beta or request a beta through the bang.

Again, this event hinges on the fact that it is CALLABORTIVE! This means means that you are highly (HIGHLY) suggested to get in contact and stay in contact with your artists as you create your project with one another.

As authors, you are required to take into consideration your artist’s squicks, no gos, triggers and etc. You want to stay respectful and thoughtful to your partner.

Please! Please! Do NOT claim a NSFW artwork unless you are 18+, we know that this is mainly based off of trust, but if you do lie about this and we somehow figure it out, you will be removed from the event and prevented from participating in any future events.

How To Sign Up

The sign up date and check in date are all published in our schedule.

Signups for the event will be through a google forms link, but for now we want to simply get a head count of how many people are interested and or excited to participate.

All forms—amidst the four separate ones for artists, authors, pinch hitters, and betas—will ask for your name, contact email, and one reliable social media contact (tumblr, twitter, instagram, discord) which are all required. If you agree to be a pinch hitter as an author in your form, you will not have to fill out the pinch hitter form separately. Beta forms have slightly different questions asking on their strengths and preferences for what to beta.

The discord link will be sent in the confirmation email once you’ve signed up.

Once Artists Complete Their Works 

One of the most important rules we hold is that when an artist completes their piece for the claiming rounds, that you do NOT include a watermark or signature for the preview page. We want folks to choose anonymously to try and make this as much of a fair playing field as possible.

We know art theft is a concern, but we promise that the preview page is simply a google doc with limited permissions, with the art works all shown in a column and it will not expand from that private viewing.

The preview will only be open to participants of the event, and we ask kindly for no one to share the link anywhere to anyone.

The only information in the preview page is simply the art piece, with a number indicating it for claims. The NSFW work will be divided with a distinct warning. But that is all, anything else the artist wishes to clarify to their author will be discussed once we pair everyone up.

You will be able to edit your artwork as much as you please once linked up with your artist, but it must be recognizable from your original submission.

Look above for the mandatory aspects of your art medium.

No artworks or artists can be accepted once the previews are opened to the authors.

Claiming 

Artworks are anonymous, without any watermarks or signatures by the artist. So they will be claimed based off the artwork and that is all.

All art pieces will be given a number to make claiming run smoothly.

All claims, once submitted to us, are final. So please authors be careful in choosing artworks you can and are excited to write for.

Take your time with claims, they are not done on a first come/first serve basis. But we will do our best to match everyone up with their preferred choices.

Authors should not choose an art piece with a possible trigger/squick already in mind before they even speak to the author.

Check-ins

All check-ins are mandatory. You will receive the check-in forms through a link via email and posted on the discord server. We really hope everyone is honest and consistent with communication.

All check-in dates are already scheduled and you can see them on our schedule post, though if you have a conflict on any of those dates, please communicate that to us before hand.

When you sign up for the event, you are required to give us an email that you check regularly and can communicate easily through.

You are only “required” to communicate with your artist/author directly after claiming and directly before posting begins. But again, we highly suggest you communicate throughout.

Always stay as kind as possible to one another.

Posting is obviously the final part of this event, please as stated above, do not post your works anywhere publicly before hand, besides small teasers that shouldn’t give much of anything away.

Your posting dates will be assigned by your Mods, but if there is any sort of conflict just message us ASAP.

There are no requirements for actual posting, besides the fact that the artist/author duo discuss with one another when they’d like to publish, and tag this blog on the post for round up.

There will be an AO3 collection that you can opt into joining, whether through the link or search box. It will be revealed and not-anonymous from the start.

There is also no posting standard, but in your posts we do ask that you both link to one another’s pieces so to help the folks consuming your works understand the full picture.

Because tumblr is unreliable, we ask you to both tag the blog, RWRBREVERSEBANG, and also send us the links through the submissions form.

If you miss your posting date, please contact us and speak with us to figure out when and how you can publish your work.

~ What is the Shyan Valentine’s Exchange?

The Shyan Valentine’s exchange will be run as an anonymous exchange, meaning that folks will sign up to write, create art or otherwise, and will receive something in exchange, but the creators will remain anonymous until posting time!

~ Event Rules

By signing up, you are committing to write an original, fully completed story that is no less than 1k words, or an original and finished fanart that is fully colored (grayscale counts), or a gifset comprised of 3 gifs or more, or graphics/edits (including posters), or a fanmix or fanvideo (fully completed, no less than 1 minute).

This event is for works written in English. Anyone from any part of the world can enter, but English is necessary.  Fanfics must be reasonably edited and readable.

You are expected to leave a comment on the gift YOU receive.

Works should be focused on the Ry*n Berg*r*/Sh*ne Mad*j (shyan) romantic pairing. You can include other side pairings or even other relationships involving them, but the end result of your work should be driven by Shyan.

Please do not write things that your giftee has explicitly indicated they are not comfortable with receiving. If you need more details from your giftee, reach out to us and we’ll help facilitate the conversation.

Your work must be complete. Works in progress are not acceptable. Multi-chapter fics must be complete on posting day.

You must remain anonymous to your recipient until you post your gift. 

If you sign-up and have to drop out, you need to contact the mods no later than two weeks before the deadline.

There will be a mandatory check in on February 1st to confirm that your gift is in progress. If you do not respond to this check in, you will be considered to have dropped out of the event and a pinch-hitter will be assigned to your giftee.

Works including rape/non-con/torture-porn/underage are not allowed as part of this event! This is not a ban on dark material. You may address related themes in your works, but graphic scenes should be avoided. But material of the kind between the couple will not be allowed. Keep this in mind when making your requests, too.

This an event to have fun, please be kind to each other and there will be a zero tolerance for any kind of shenanigans including ship and character bashing as well as discouraging folks from writing and/or requesting their particular preferred characterizations and tropes.

There is no minimum age requirement to participate in this exchange. However, if you are under the age of 18, please do not request or create explicit content.

Fanfics must be posted on AO3 with the tag Shyan Valentines Exchange 2020. You can crosspost to Tumblr, Wattpad, etc but it must be on AO3 as well. That will be our archive.

When posting on Tumblr, please tag it as #shyanvalentines2020 in the first five tags of your post and feel free to mention the blog! Please do not tag the name of the show or the boys’ full names. The work must be reasonably edited and readable if fanfic. That means we are not beta’ing, the way you post it is the way it goes out to the fandom!
