Sunday sojourn was to Hayward, and a few of my #vinylremix #art series (or I take 12-in vinyl sleeves and use them as opportunities to visually reshape them, in this case #GraceJones's "slave to the rhythm" single, and a compilation from #LawrenceWelk) join a small brigade of other artists at the anniversary of @thestacksrecordshop , a great reason to swing out to this part of the East Bay (their jazz and funk sections are compact but impeccably curated). I rocked up to @thestacksrecordshop to pick up my four copies of @sndtrak album (got one for @dj_prominent one for @ammbaataa / @drums_and_ammoh and who did I see there aside from my boy @delrokz —my bday twin @kingbeatsme and the legend @seti_x all of whom I’ve known since we were 15 years younger! From Nov 1-20 you can donate non-perishable food at The Stacks Record Shop. Donors will receive 15% off their Stacks purchase and will be entered into a Stacks gift card giveaway to show our appreciation. Sunday #vinyloftheday is one of my pick ups from @thestacksrecordshop , a reissue of "The Trance of Seven Colors" which I originally got on CD on Bill laswell's Axiom label years ago (mid 90s)... It's a beautiful collaboration between the Moroccan #Gnawa (a mostly Morroccan ritual music, but pretty much known across all of West Africa's Malachite Muslim community) musician Malim Mahmoud Ghania, with spiritual #jazz icon #PharaohSanders.
