My Predictions for Helluva Boss
Alright, guys, not gonna lie... I'm tired from HB! Protagonist-centered morality, favoritism, lack of stakes, Stolass' endless woobification, etc... It has become too much for me. Thus I've gave up any hopes for the writing improvement and refused to watch the show in the long run.
But!
This won't stop me from analysing the previous episodes that I've already watched. Furthermore, I wanna make a few predictions about what's going to happen in the next two seasons (unless those will be cancelled). Perhaps I'll repeat some of the points other critics had already made. So I'm sorry in advance for this, mates.
Now be careful, there's a HUGE list under the cut! 🔮
⋆˙˖⟡°˖⟡˙ {Predictions} ˙⟡˖°⟡˖˙⋆
None of the main cast is dead. The plot armor is too strong. Especially for Stolass. I mean, do you genuinely believe that Viv would kill her precious sad bean?! Bitch, please! 🤗
All/most of the antagonists are dead. The only exception I can think about is Cherubs. They're just too unthreatening to bother about. Prolly the D.H.O.R.K.S are dead but reborn in Hell and Idk if that counts or not 💀⚰️
If the rumors about one of the Deadly Sins' upcoming death are true then it's going to be Mammon. No other options 💸 (Btw I saw a fan theory about Blitzø killing Mammon and taking his place... Well, considering how poorly Viv handles the class problem I wouldn't be surprised if that came true)
F!zzarozz!e get married (S3) 💞 - 100% probability
Stol!tzø get married (S4, finale) 💞 - 100% probability
M&M became parents. Honestly I thought they'll save it for the end but after Sinsmas... Yeah. Anyway the truth about Millie's pregnancy is revealed (nearly to the middle of S3), she gives a birth for pro-lifers' delight and takes maternity leave becoming a background character. The child prolly is a boy and gets a better development than his mother. Apparently he's named Blitzø Junior or smth like that 👨‍👩‍👧
F!zzarozz!e & Stol!tzø double date💕
Moxxie's insecurity issue is showed at least once at the season. Now he isn't sure about himself being a good father/protector/role model for his son 💪
Loona shows her human disguise at least once at the season. Doesn't really matter if there's no logical reason for that 🐺➡️👩
More sappy sad ballads performed by Stolass 🎵
I.M.P. continue murdering people and not giving a fuck about morality (Sinsmas was the only act of mercy) OR they leave the business and fully go for Stol!tz soap opera (not like they haven't done that already- but hey! there's always room for degradation, right?) 📉
Stolass succeeds at the dime novels writing 📜✍️
Carnal hyper-sensual coitus between Stolass and Blitzø appears on-screen. Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember Viv expressed her desire to animate an intimacy act, so I have zero doubts these two are involved. It can't be anyone but them 🤢
Octavia forgives Stolass the moment she finds out about Stella's abusive nature. And since Stella's confirmed as a "stupid cow" the truth's revealed in the dumbest way possible. I wouldn't be surprised if Stella spilled the beans by herself 🤦‍♀️
Blitzø boosts his connection with Stolass the moment he finds out about Stella's abusive nature. After all we've got a sex out of pity, so why wouldn't we got a love out of pity as well? 🤡
Possibly Striker/Stella had been a thing at a certain time. Why? Because ✨fanservice✨ of course! And yes, it's going to be as dull, flat and out of nowhere as Cherr!snake. Or maybe worse 🙁
Stella's backstory turns out like the "she was born evil so don't you dare to sympathise with her" full edition. There is no valid motivation, no intriguing conflicts, no nuances - none of that. There is only Stolass' woobification arc. So this backstory isn't about Stella. It's revolved mainly around Stolass, maybe around Andrealphus or Vassago at the least. Granted that Stella ever had a chance to receive a decent backstory for herself Vivienne would've thrown it away right in the next episode without mentioning it ever again 😭
Actually Mammon can't play the guitar 🎸 He's just too dumb and untalented for this (according to Vivienne). Don't expect an epic villain song from him. I'd be happy to be wrong about this one but my hopes are dead
More fatphobic jokes toward Mammon 👎
Stolass' in drag. Just no comments 💄👠
Love triangle between Stolass, Blitzø and Vassago. At one point, Stolass leaves Blitzø because he doesn't satisfy his wet dreams well enough. Vassago and Stolass have complete mutual understanding and the idyll but Stolass feels smth isn't right. Smth is missing, smth like… Meanwhile Blitzø suffers and seeks Stolass' mercy. Eventually Stolass comes back to Blitzø because 💖 ~ they belong together ~ 💖
Perhaps after the breakup between Stolass and Vassago the latter will get together with Andrealphus 💘
Millie & Moxxie or Fizz & Ozzie giving romantic advices to Blitzø / helping him improve the relationship with Stolass 💝
Barbie Wire forgives Blitzø in her next appearance and then moves away from the plot without a trace 💨
Sapphic bait 💗 Verosika/Barbie Wire? Barbie Wire/Sallie May? Sallie May/Verosika? All of them together? I don't know! But I do know Viv would rather escape from being accused of wlw underrepresentation. Since she has promised S3 is going to be "a queer roller coaster" she would need to dilute her sausage party a bit. And of course the lesbian ship (whichever it would be) is poorly developed.
New unnecessary characters for celebrity VA's ⭐
Stolass was kidnapped... again?! Yes, Striker abducted him before but... Why wouldn't do this one more time? After all the stans love presenting Viv's auto-plagiarism as meaningful "symbolic parallels". Besides kidnapping is one of the most beloved tropes in fanfiction. And HB is an animated fanfic for sure ⛓
More shitty dads/exes? Because Viv adores reusing the same tropes over and over again 💩
"Positive" characters keep being justified and woobified infinitely 😇 while villains are losing all their charisma and braincells from episode to episode 😈
Nobody will ever remember that Stolass harassed Blitzø 🙈
Nobody will ever remember that Ozzie allows succubi to enter the mortal realm and seduce humans by hypnotic songs (which doesn't sound pro-consent, does it, Mr. Lust-Is-Not-About-Force?) 🙉
Nobody will ever remember that Queen Bee runs shelters (which are essentially slave trade hellholes) in terrible conditions 🙊
Stolass' "depression" is brought up occasionally as a reason to justify and pity him. Stolass' immediately healed by Stella's death. Right after that the depression has disappeared completely. Therapy sessions aren't required. Even if the therapy is shown then only as a lame joke 🌧
Stolass brings his powers back because he's out... for LOOOOoOHoOOOHoOOVE!!! 💓💃🏻
Stolass gets everything he ever wanted without any efforts and self-improvement. Because he's good enough already and everyone who disagree is just stupid and mean 🏆
Aaaaaaaand that's all! My forecast: at least 80% of these predictions will come true one way or another. And what do you think? Maybe you have your own ideas? Please share those in the comments/reblogs! It'd be cool if someone made a bingo based on all this. It definitely wouldn't be me because today I'm identifying myself as a lazy ass. Bye-bye! 👋😊

Differences in the philosophy of different Aikatsu seasons
Aikatsu has a pretty consistent set of values, but each series is a bit different.
Aikatsu
Every Aikatsu series puts a lot of emphasis on self-improvement, but the original series probably does it the most.
There's also a lot of focus on worthiness and becoming worthy, such as getting accepted into Starlight Academy, earning the approval of the brand designers, and earning the right to be in Tristar. Aikatsu is honest about the fact that not everyone can be worthy of everything. "Only a few stars at a time can be the brightest in the sky", and all that stuff.
Aikatsu encourages using the tools and support that others have set up for you, but also doing what you want. Yurika refuses to break characters during the Tristar auditions. Sumire rejects the modeling jobs she was offered because she wants to be a singer, not a model. In both cases, the opportunities they turned down ended up coming back in another way, a way that suited them better. Aikatsu says it's worth it to turn down opportunities that don't align with your vision. And that the further you get down your own path, the more people will come to understand and support your vision.
Aikatsu's philosophy is like a cross between a business/institution and a personal trainer. The business aspect is about getting external validation through institutions, and how once you get in, you are welcome to make use of everything provided, but there are expectations you must meet. The people around you are here to support you, but also to compete with you. The personal training aspect is how you should go down the path you want, and be responsible for yourself. Above all, Aikatsu's biggest value is probably discipline.
Aikatsu Stars
Aikatsu Stars probably has the biggest emphasis on "personal brand", that is, turning yourself into a product people will want to consume. As such, it has a recurring theme of pushing yourself to appease your fans at any cost, such as in episode 11 when Hime puts on a concert while having a migraine, or in the movie when Subaru tells Yume not to let her fans see her depressed. (Luckily, they add nuance to this through Lily, who is very strong-willed but still genuinely has limits she can't surpass because of her health condition. She can't always give the fans exactly what they want, but she still has a loyal fanbase despite that. The thing with Yume's rainbow powers also explores the dangers of pushing yourself too hard.)
The personal brand thing also ties into the whole "self-producing" theme that Aikatsu Stars brought up a lot around the beginning. In the original series, most characters follow their school's curriculum and do fairly standard work (with the notable exceptions being WM and the Dream Academy students). Aikatsu Stars idols have more choice, and therefore more responsibility, in the path they choose to take. Yotsuboshi students have to choose whether to major in song, dance, theater or beauty. In season two, some of them choose to attend Venus Ark. Many of them travel around the world. No one is laying out a path for them to follow − they must create their own.
The original series' focus on worthiness turns into straight-up elitism, with a lot of focus on getting into elite groups such as S4 or Venus Ark. Joining those groups provides special opportunities that are closed off for regular idols. However, the series still shows that your dreams don't have to end just because you didn't make it into a special group, as opportunities are everywhere.
Aikatsu Stars' philosophy is closest to that of influencers and self-employed people. It's a mishmash of DIY and elitism, with a strong emphasis on doing your own work and forging your own path.
Aikatsu Friends
Well obviously Aikatsu Friends puts a higher value on friendship compared to the other seasons. It's about having others help you do things you couldn't do alone − perhaps the exact antithesis of Aikatsu Stars' philosophy. (They do go against this in the third cour of season 1, but it's so out-of-the-blue that it ends up coming off as unreasonably harsh, especially in the Halloween episode.)
There's still an emphasis on self-improvement, but this time, it's for the sake of others rather than for oneself.
Aikatsu Friends is the least elitist of the shows – there's an idol division at a regular school, and the main character transfers to the idol division easily. Units are always formed by creating bonds between the two members, not passing a competition. Of course, there's still some elitism, because elitism is sort of baked into Aikatsu's DNA, but it's not as strong here as it is in the first two series.
Aikatsu Friends' philosophy, at least in season 1, is sort of like a friendly competition between teams. Players should work well together, but also be strong on their own. Bonding is just as important as training. (I'm not sure what season 2 is like. Season 2 moves away from the competition aspect and is overall less Aikatsu-y.)

on my current sims 4 legacy challenge
so i’ve been playing with the same sims on long lifespan for over a year now and i have some things i wanna say
amassing wealth has been shockingly easy. my legacy founder, mallory, is in the writer career, and has been at the top of it for FOREVER. probably over an in-game decade. getting money from working plus royalties made her really rich really fast.
i thought it would be a lot harder to get this rich because i’ve been watching lilsimsie’s nightmare legacy challenge for years and they always seem to struggle for money. but, kayla has said that she likes to cheat the money away for an extra challenge. same with james turner, except each generation starts fresh for another rags to riches challenge.
her wife, alaina, works as a floral designer at the top of the career, so we’ve had a flourishing garden for a while now. making a death flower, at this point, would not be hard.
all four of the children have been stand-up, model citizens (and tbh that’s on me. i can’t let my sims do bad things bc it makes me feel bad 😭) the scouting aptitude trait from seasons works WONDERS in terms of building skills fast. i don’t think it’s for every child but it is definitely for mallory’s children.
having multiple children in the 2nd gen is probably not conventional but i think it’s good for growing the family tree fast and opening up different options for storytelling. for example, i have vampire twins, blair and blythe. blythe is happy with her position and powers, content with her immortality. blair, however, learned more about the history of vampirism and is now looking for a cure. this difference in opinion about vampirism has the potential to cause a rift in their previously close relationship.
i’ve gotten into such a pattern with playing that i have to remind myself to set long-term goals. this will help me not get bored while playing as well as improve my sims and further the overall storyline.
at this point i’m just waiting for the legacy founder, francis, to age up so i can start working on some of my future plans. i love this family so much and i’m super excited for what’s to come!

What to Do While Patiently Waiting for MTB Trails to Dry Out
Spring mud season is here. While it may be a sign of good things to come on the trails (like hero dirt and blooming flowers), riding on wet and muddy trails is not a good idea. So, what do you do while avoiding the temptation to get out there? There are plenty of fun and productive activities to do as you count down the days until things dry out.
Volunteer on Local Trails
If you can’t ride the trails, you can do the next best thing: Help maintain them. From brush clearing and trash pickup to erosion control, there are many tasks that need to be done to the trails to get them rideable for the summer season. Local trail organizations rely on volunteers for upkeep, and this is the perfect time to give back to the places you love to ride. Contact your local trail system or biking groups to see how you can help, even if it’s just a few hours on a Saturday. It feels good to volunteer, and you’re pitching in on a much-needed service.

Explore Somewhere New
Use this off-season time to explore new ways of enjoying the outdoors. If you’re wanting to stay on two wheels, pick up a pair of discount electric bikes for you and a partner or family member and explore new territory in the city or long swaths of paved pathways. This is also a great time of year to test out gravel bikes on backroads and get some miles in. Even climbing paved hills in your neighborhood on a road bike will give your legs a good workout.
Hit the Bike Park and Learn a New Skill
Playing around at the bike park or pump track on a BMX bike or mountain bike is a super fun way to stay engaged and sharpen some skills. You can work on bike handling skills on berms, drops, and jumps. Anything you can do to fine-tune your skills will help improve your riding performance when the trails and resorts are open.
Tumblr media
Check Out New Bikes
If you’ve been thinking about upgrading your ride, now’s the perfect time to research new mountain bikes, components, and gear. Many bike shops have demo days where you can test different models. Even if you’re not in the market for a new bike, checking out the latest technology can keep the stoke high while you wait. This is also a good time to look at pre-season sales, pick up a discount bicycle online with free shipping, and upgrade your current bike.
Get Your Bike Serviced
Bike shops start to get busy at this time of year, so get your mountain bike in for a tune-up as soon as possible. You want to make sure your suspension is in good shape and running smoothly. Bike techs can also clean and lube the drivetrain, inspect brakes, and ensure your tire tread is good to go. It’s always smart to go into the season with a fresh tune-up to make sure your bike is in peak condition.

Better CR: Roseburrough, NC
I wanted a better CR set in the Appalachians, so I scripted this. Roseburrough doesn't exist here in this CR (as far as I know) but I scripted that it's pretty close to Asheville.
Most of my better CRs (with a couple exceptions) are fairly close to my original CR's past. I do have a couple "Better Family" CRs but for the time being I just feel like I want to get some distance from the family in a CR so I can work through some of these issues in a safe place.
I usually don't script "perfect world" alt CRs because it just doesn't feel real to me. But what I do is take my current reality and modify it here and there, vastly improving some things, making other things just a bit less awful, and just overall re-shaping reality to be not just more tolerable overall but much better in many respects. And I always, always include the caveat that I can permashift to another CR if I ever want to, whenever I'm ready to move on.
So in this reality, I was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. My grandmother (my dad's mother) was from Roseburrough; she had a gorgeous old farmhouse on fifty acres that's been in the family for multiple generations. I'm living there now, just my dog, my cats, and I (she passed on over a decade ago, like she did in the original CR).
There are stories of witches, healers, people with the Sight, and people with magic going back along my grandmother's line. She herself taught me a lot of folk magic that had been passed down to her, a lot of German folk magic and some of the newer Appalachian folk magic traditions that evolved when her ancestors immigrated to the U.S. Grandma has a lot of old family journals and heirlooms that she showed me while she was still alive; they're still in the house. I haven't read through all of them yet but it's something I've been wanting to do.
My parents still live in Charlotte. I have gone very, very low contact with them, and they know why.
I have a group of close friends in Roseburrough who have become my family. Lorna is a single mother, a Wiccan, and owns a nice little pub in town. Andrew and Jonas are a couple; Andrew is a pediatrician and Jonas owns a construction company. They own a small farm a little down the road from me. Jeremy is a trans man living in town; he is our resident computer geek, and works as a freelance coder. Rosa is my best friend, and her large family has basically adopted me. She owns a plant nursery and is a practicing bruja.
I also have the same friends in this reality that I have in my original CR.
In this reality, I worked in my 20s and 30s for a company called "Art in the Parks," a group that hired out "art guides" to various resorts and national parks around the country. I would take guests on easy guided hikes, and then give them a plein aire painting lesson. I had an RV that I lived in, and traveled around quite a bit between the seasonal jobs. I also became something of an acclaimed "magical landscape" and faerie artist during that time. I also made some smart investments, so when I quit my job at Art in the Parks, I was pretty well off.
I moved in with my grandmother in 2012 to help take care of her, and began building a freelance art career. I did a lot of book covers, comic covers, game art. I still work as a freelancer, but I don't have to take a lot of projects because I've got a very nice nest egg saved. I'm currently focusing a lot on my own illustrated novel series project.
A.I. as it exists in the original CR doesn't exist here, but there is a different sort of A.I. that doesn't harm the environment or steal from creatives. It makes things such as 3D modeling, animation, game creation, moviemaking, and gameplay/character scripting much more streamlined and easy while still maintaining full creative control.
There is also a virtual reality system called DreamTime that essentially lets you project your consciousness into the highly realistic virtual space. The base program is highly versatile, so you can build your own characters and adventures, but you can also purchase games based on various IPs as well.
All of this technology is completely safe and ethical. This world is a much better place overall, though there are still some pockets of religious fanatics and such. The shitty people are very much the minority and are ostracized by the rest of society.
The house interior is laid out almost like the interior of my grandmother's house in the original CR, but the upstairs is a bit different, with more rooms. I had it fixed up a bit a few years back, because it was starting to get a bit run down and was having some issues with the plumbing and wiring and a leaky roof. It's in good shape now. It's on an absolutely gorgeous tract of land, with lots of old forest growth, a river, and a waterfall. I have a very nice garden and keep a few chickens for eggs. My dog Shadow is still with me in this world, and I also have two cats, Ember and Morpheus.
I have all the same DR scripts here that I have in my original CR, and whatever shifts I've experienced are also mirrored here, so I can pick off wherever I left off in any DR whenever I permashift here and start shifting again.
I am happy and content living alone and single in this world; most of my romantic relationships are in DRs that I shift back and forth from.

100 percent sure wins,
100 percent sure wins,
When it comes to games of chance, betting, or even life in general, the concept of a "100% sure win" is tantalizing, yet often elusive. Whether you're a seasoned gambler, a strategic player, or someone hoping for a bit of luck, the promise of a guaranteed win is highly appealing. But does such a thing actually exist?
Understanding the Odds
In any game of chance, there is always a level of uncertainty. Whether it's roulette, poker, or sports betting, outcomes are influenced by factors beyond anyone's control. This is why odds are established — to represent the probability of a certain event happening. In most games, the odds are stacked in favor of the house or the opponent. Even in games that seem based purely on skill, like chess or poker, luck still plays a role.
So, the first thing to understand is that the term "100% sure win" is often used in misleading ways. No betting system, no strategy, and no amount of skill can ever guarantee a win in a game of chance. Even with perfect information, the element of luck can influence the outcome.
Strategic Betting and Systems
In certain scenarios, you can significantly improve your chances of winning, but this still doesn't equate to a 100% win rate. For example:
Card Counting in Blackjack: This strategy involves tracking the cards dealt in order to estimate the likelihood of certain hands being dealt. While it can increase your chances of winning, it doesn't eliminate the risk completely. Casinos also have countermeasures to identify and prevent card counting.
Sports Betting Systems: Many punters claim to have developed foolproof strategies based on statistical models. While these strategies can sometimes give a more accurate prediction of outcomes, there’s still an element of unpredictability in sports.
Poker Strategy: Skilled poker players can minimize their risk by understanding odds, reading opponents, and making smart decisions. However, even the best poker players can lose hands, tournaments, and even entire sessions.
Roulette and Other Casino Games: While some players might use betting systems like the Martingale system to try to cover their losses, there is no strategy that can overcome the house edge in games like roulette, where each spin is independent and random.
Is There Such a Thing as a Sure Win?
The truth is, there is no such thing as a "100% sure win" in the context of betting or games of chance. Even the best strategies or systems are still based on probabilities, and nothing can eliminate the inherent risks involved. The only exception might be in games of complete skill, like chess, where a player can theoretically ensure victory against an opponent of equal or lesser skill — but even then, the pressure of time constraints or human error can lead to unexpected outcomes.
"Guaranteed" Winning Programs: Caveats
The internet is filled with advertisements promising "100% sure win" systems, often in the form of betting strategies, poker bots, or sports prediction models. While some of these programs may show short-term success, the reality is that they usually involve significant risk and are often unsustainable over the long term. Many "guaranteed" systems are designed to exploit players' desire for quick wealth, and there are countless examples of scams that claim to offer foolproof strategies.
The Importance of Responsible Gaming
While the allure of a "sure win" is tempting, it’s important to approach games of chance with a responsible mindset. The reality is that there will always be a risk involved, and understanding the odds and managing your expectations is key to enjoying these games without falling prey to unrealistic promises.
Responsible gaming involves setting limits, understanding the risks, and playing for enjoyment rather than solely for financial gain. No one should expect to always win, but with the right mindset, gambling can be a fun and exciting experience.
Conclusion
In summary, the idea of a "100% sure win" is more myth than reality. While there are ways to improve your chances, luck, probability, and randomness will always play a significant role in the outcome. Rather than searching for the impossible guarantee, focus on strategies that improve your odds and, most importantly, enjoy the experience responsibly.

Explore Premium Used Yachts for Sale – Luxury on the Water Awaits
Explore the most exceptional deals on used yacht sales with South Florida Sailing
A lot of people believe owning a yacht to mean luxury, freedom, and adventure; however, buying a new yacht is not the wisest choice for someone who actually enjoys yachting.
That is when one gets lured into the idea of used yacht sales. It's a perfect way out for the budding yachters who do not want to pay that exorbitant fee. Here at South Florida Sailing, we take extra consideration when connecting buyers to quality second-hand yachts. So, in this blog, we will be discussing some tips on how to wisely invest in used yachts and the advantages of buying one.
A used yacht sales is one of the great benefits; it is economical. Like a car, new yachts lose a great deal of value within a few years of owning them. With a used yacht, you won't have to deal with this initial depreciation.
Another positive side attached to buying a used yacht is the opportunity for customization. The earlier owners already invested in improving the yacht's performance, comfort, and aesthetic. So when buying a used yacht, you might find it equipped with high satellite navigation systems and luxurious interiors and other exceptional equipment, which pay much extra to have them put while buying new. This even saves you time and costs since you do not have to do these modifications by yourself.
Use yachts that have proven their reliability in the field. Whenever a person goes to buy a new yacht, he feels some kind of uncertainty about how the yacht will perform and what problems are always present. But while buying a used yacht, you can reap the fruits of the experiences of other owners who have already discovered and solved all expected problems. This definitely builds confidence in the purchase and helps in preventing unexpected maintenance costs in the future.
At South Florida Sailing, we really make tucked implements within a seized framework of different styles of yachts with features of pure quality and backed by age-old professional experience. They have been thoroughly inspected to guarantee they meet our tough standards in performance and safety, as well as conditions. Buying a yacht, we know, is not an easy decision but investing big money into it, we are committed to find the perfect fit for your needs and lifestyle.

Top 10 Best Leaf Blowers for 2024 As we approach the fall season, keeping our yards tidy becomes a top priority. That's why I've compiled this comprehensive guide to the best leaf blowers available in 2024. Whether you're a homeowner looking to maintain a pristine lawn or a professional landscaper seeking efficient tools, this list has something for everyone. I've carefully selected these leaf blowers based on their performance, features, and value for money, ensuring you can find the perfect match for your needs without breaking the bank. Why I Decided to Review These Leaf Blowers The Quest for the Perfect Yard Companion As someone who takes pride in maintaining a beautiful outdoor space, I've always been on the lookout for tools that can make the job easier and more efficient. Leaf blowers have become an essential part of my lawn care arsenal, and I've spent countless hours researching and testing various models to find the cream of the crop. A Thorough Research Process My journey to find the best leaf blowers involved more than just reading product descriptions. I dove deep into user reviews, consulted with lawn care professionals, and even got my hands dirty (or should I say, leafy) by testing many of these models myself. This hands-on approach allowed me to understand the nuances of each product and how they perform in real-world scenarios. Brand Reputation and Innovation In the world of lawn care equipment, brand reputation matters. I've paid close attention to manufacturers known for their quality and innovation. Companies like EGO Power+, DEWALT, and Husqvarna have long-standing reputations for producing reliable tools. However, I've also kept an eye on up-and-coming brands that are shaking up the market with new technologies and features. Balancing Price and Performance One of the key factors in my selection process was finding leaf blowers that offer excellent value for money. I understand that not everyone has an unlimited budget for lawn care equipment, so I've included options at various price points. From budget-friendly models to high-end powerhouses, there's a leaf blower on this list for every wallet size. Features That Matter When evaluating the best leaf blowers, I focused on features that truly make a difference in usability and performance. Things like air speed (MPH) and volume (CFM) are crucial for effectively clearing leaves and debris. Battery life and charging time are essential considerations for cordless models. Ergonomics and weight distribution play a significant role in user comfort, especially for extended use. The Cordless Revolution One trend I've noticed in recent years is the shift towards cordless leaf blowers. The convenience of not being tethered to a power outlet, combined with improvements in battery technology, has made these models increasingly popular. Many of the leaf blowers on this list are cordless, reflecting this market trend and the preferences of modern users. Environmental Considerations As we become more conscious of our environmental impact, I've also considered the eco-friendliness of these leaf blowers. Electric and battery-powered models generally have a lower carbon footprint compared to gas-powered alternatives. However, I've included a gas model for those who require maximum power for large properties or professional use. By thoroughly examining these aspects, I've curated a list of the best leaf blowers that cater to a wide range of needs and preferences. Whether you're looking for raw power, quiet operation, or exceptional battery life, you'll find a leaf blower on this list that fits the bill. Let's dive into the top picks and find the perfect leaf blower to keep your outdoor spaces pristine and leaf-free. EGO Power+ LB7654 $299.00 - Buy Now When it comes to the best leaf blowers on the market, the EGO Power+ LB7654 stands out as a true powerhouse. I've had the pleasure of using this beast of a machine, and I can confidently say it's a game-changer for lawn maintenance. From the moment I unboxed it, I knew I was dealing with a premium product. The first thing that struck me was the build quality. The LB7654 feels robust and well-engineered, with a comfortable grip that makes extended use a breeze. But it's when I fired it up that I was truly impressed. The 765 CFM of air output is no joke – it effortlessly cleared my leaf-covered lawn in record time. What's more, the variable-speed trigger allowed me to dial in the perfect amount of power for different tasks, from gently clearing flower beds to blasting stubborn wet leaves. Battery life is often a concern with cordless tools, but EGO has really delivered here. The included 5.0Ah battery gave me solid runtime, easily enough to clear my medium-sized yard with power to spare. And when it was time to recharge, the rapid charger had me back up and running in no time. One feature I particularly appreciated was the shoulder strap. It might seem like a small detail, but when you're dealing with a powerful blower like this, having that extra support makes a big difference in comfort during longer sessions. The weight distribution is excellent, and I found I could work for extended periods without fatigue. Noise levels are another area where the LB7654 shines. While it's not whisper-quiet (no powerful leaf blower is), it's noticeably less noisy than gas-powered alternatives. My neighbors actually commented on how much quieter it was compared to my old blower, which is a nice bonus. Pros Cons Powerful 765 CFM air output Higher price point Variable speed control Heavier than some competitors Excellent battery life May be overkill for small yards Comfortable shoulder strap Charger is a bit bulky Quieter than gas models   Rapid charging   2. DEWALT 20V MAX* XR $199.99 - Buy Now As a long-time fan of DEWALT tools, I had high expectations for their 20V MAX* XR Leaf Blower, and I'm happy to report that it didn't disappoint. This compact powerhouse has become my go-to for quick clean-ups and maintenance around the yard. Right out of the box, I was impressed by how lightweight and well-balanced this blower feels. At just 7.1 pounds with the battery, it's a joy to use for extended periods. The ergonomic design means I can easily maneuver it with one hand, which is great for precision work around flower beds or tight corners. Performance-wise, the DCBL722P1 packs a punch. With 450 CFM of air volume and speeds up to 125 MPH, it tackles most yard debris with ease. I found it particularly effective for clearing leaves from my deck and driveway. While it might not have the raw power of some larger models, its combination of airflow and speed makes it more than capable for typical suburban yard maintenance. One of the standout features for me is the variable speed trigger and speed lock. This level of control allows me to use just the right amount of power for the task at hand, whether I'm gently clearing mulch or blasting away stubborn wet leaves. The speed lock is a welcome addition for those longer clearing sessions, reducing hand fatigue. Battery life is always a crucial factor with cordless tools, and the DEWALT doesn't disappoint. The included 5.0Ah battery provides ample runtime for my needs, easily lasting through several cleaning sessions before needing a recharge.
And since it's part of the DEWALT 20V MAX* system, I can swap batteries with my other DEWALT tools, which is incredibly convenient. Pros Cons Lightweight and well-balanced Less powerful than some competitors Variable speed control with lock May struggle with very large yards Good battery life No included shoulder strap Compatible with DEWALT 20V MAX* system Nozzle length not adjustable Excellent for small to medium yards   Quiet operation   3. Cordless Leaf Blower, 540CFM/170MPH $100.07 - Buy Now When I first got my hands on this cordless leaf blower, I was immediately impressed by its robust build and comfortable design. As someone who's used various leaf blowers over the years, I was eager to see how this model would stack up against more established brands. The first thing that struck me was the power output. With 540 CFM and speeds up to 170 MPH, this blower means business. I put it to the test on my leaf-covered lawn, and it cleared the area with surprising efficiency. The 6-speed mode and turbo mode offer great versatility, allowing me to adjust the power based on the task at hand. I found the lower speeds perfect for clearing delicate areas around flower beds, while the turbo mode made quick work of stubborn piles of wet leaves. What really sets this blower apart is the inclusion of two 6.0Ah batteries. This is a game-changer in terms of runtime. I was able to clear my entire yard, including the driveway and patio, without needing to swap batteries. And when it was time to recharge, the fast charger had me back up and running in no time. The ergonomics of this blower are well thought out. Despite its power, it's relatively lightweight and easy to maneuver. The comfortable grip reduced fatigue during longer clearing sessions, and I appreciated the thoughtful addition of a shoulder strap for added support. One feature I particularly enjoyed was the turbo mode. While I didn't need it for everyday clearing, it came in handy when dealing with a particularly stubborn pile of wet leaves that had accumulated in a corner of my yard. With a press of a button, I had the extra boost needed to get the job done. Pros Cons Powerful 540CFM/170MPH output Brand may be less known 6 speed modes plus turbo Slightly heavier than some competitors Two 6.0Ah batteries included May be overkill for very small yards Fast charger Turbo mode drains battery quickly Comfortable ergonomics   Great value for the price   4. Leaf Blower Cordless with 2 * 20V Battery $63.35 - Buy Now As someone who's always on the lookout for efficient and affordable lawn care tools, I was intrigued by this cordless leaf blower. The price point is certainly attractive, but I was curious to see if it could deliver the performance I needed for my yard maintenance tasks. Upon unboxing, I was pleasantly surprised by the build quality. It feels sturdy and well-made, despite its budget-friendly price tag. The design is straightforward and user-friendly, which I appreciate. The inclusion of two 20V batteries is a nice touch, ensuring that I can tackle larger jobs without interruption. When it comes to performance, this blower holds its own for light to medium-duty tasks. The two-speed levels offer good versatility – I found the lower speed perfect for clearing leaves from my flower beds and patio, while the higher speed was effective for tackling larger leaf piles on the lawn. It's not the most powerful blower I've used, but for its size and price, it gets the job done efficiently. One of the standout features for me is how lightweight and maneuverable this blower is. I could easily use it one-handed, which made reaching tight corners and working around obstacles a breeze. The non-slip handle is a thoughtful addition that enhanced comfort during extended use. Battery life was decent, though not exceptional. With both batteries,I was able to complete most of my yard work without needing to recharge, although I did find myself swapping batteries for larger projects.
If you're looking for a powerful blower, this may not be it, but for regular maintenance and smaller tasks, it's quite effective. Pros Cons Affordable price Limited power for heavy-duty tasks Includes two 20V batteries Battery life could be better Lightweight and easy to maneuver Two speeds may not suit all needs Sturdy build quality May struggle with wet leaves Non-slip handle enhances comfort Overall performance is basic 5. Mueller UltraStorm Cordless Leaf Blower $41.99 - Buy Now When I first received the Mueller UltraStorm cordless leaf blower, I was skeptical about its capabilities given its low price point. However, after testing it out in my backyard, I found it to be an excellent little machine that exceeded my expectations. The blower operates at a speed of 140 MPH, which is quite impressive considering its compact size. While using it, I was able to clear away light debris easily; it performed particularly well on dry leaves and small twigs. Though I wouldn’t rely on it for heavy-duty jobs, it’s perfect for routine clean-up around the garden and driveway. One feature that stands out is its lightweight design. I could use the blower for extended periods without feeling fatigued. The ergonomics are solid, making it comfortable to hold and use. It’s easy to maneuver around tight spots, which is essential when you’re trying to avoid damaging plants and flowers. Battery performance is decent, though there were times I wished for more runtime. It's important to note that this blower is best suited for small to medium-sized yards as it might struggle with larger areas or heavier debris. Nonetheless, for those quick tasks, it performs admirably. In summary, the Mueller UltraStorm is a fantastic choice if you want an affordable and efficient leaf blower for light tasks. It’s not meant for tackling massive lawns or tough clearing jobs, but it shines in day-to-day maintenance. Pros Cons Very affordable Limited power for heavy tasks Lightweight and easy to use Battery life is somewhat limited Compact design for easy storage Not suitable for large yards Good for light debris Lacks advanced features 6. Leaf Blower, 680 CFM 190 MPH $99.75 - Buy Now As someone who frequently deals with autumn leaves and everyday yard upkeep, I was excited to test out the Leaf Blower with a robust 680 CFM output and a top speed of 190 MPH. Right from the start, this blower gave me confidence in its capabilities due to its sturdy construction and design. During my initial run, I was pleasantly surprised by how well it cleared various debris types, including wet leaves and small branches. With three-speed settings, I was able to adjust the power based on the task, which really made a difference. The highest setting tackled heavy piles effortlessly, while lower speeds were gentle enough for delicate flower beds. The inclusion of two 4.0Ah batteries is a significant advantage. I was able to work through my entire yard without worrying about battery life, and recharging was quick and convenient. This extended usage meant I could tackle larger areas without interruptions, which is crucial for anyone with a bigger lawn. Ergonomically, I found the blower comfortable to handle, even during longer sessions. The lightweight nature allowed for easy maneuverability, and the grip felt secure, helping to reduce hand fatigue. The design also incorporates a thoughtful shoulder strap, providing additional support while working. Overall, I would recommend this leaf blower for anyone needing reliable performance paired with versatility. It checks all the boxes for the average homeowner looking to maintain their yard effectively without spending a fortune. Pros Cons High CFM and MPH output Might be too powerful for small tasks Three-speed settings for versatility Heavier than some other models Two long-lasting batteries included Noise level can be higher at full power Comfortable design with shoulder strap May require occasional cleaning of leaves stuck in duct
7. Leaf Blower Cordless - 580CFM/160MPH $138.00 - Buy Now After some anticipation, I finally got the chance to put the 580CFM/160MPH Cordless Leaf Blower to the test in my backyard. Right from the outset, I was impressed with its sleek design and how manageable it felt in my hands. Performance-wise, this blower has proven itself worthy during my various yard work sessions. Clearing leaves from my patio and pathways was a breeze thanks to its powerful output. The three-speed modes offered flexibility, allowing me to choose a lower speed for delicate surfaces and ramping up for tougher clearing jobs. I particularly appreciated the turbo mode for dealing with stubborn wet leaves after a rainstorm. Another highlight for me was the inclusion of two 4.0Ah batteries. They provided ample power, enabling me to work continuously without frequent interruptions. When it came time to recharge, the process was swift, letting me get back to maintaining my yard in no time. Comfort is key when using any tool for extended periods, and this blower delivered. Pros Cons Strong performance with 580CFM/160MPH Slightly heavier than lighter models Three speed settings available Battery life depends on usage intensity Two batteries included for extended use Turbo mode can drain batteries quickly Ergonomic design for comfort Noise level can be notable on high settings Versatile for various yard tasks   8. Leaf Blower Cordless, 580CFM/160MPH 3 Speed Levels $121.81 - Buy Now Upon receiving the Leaf Blower Cordless with 580CFM/160MPH power, I was eager to see how it would perform compared to other blowers I've used in the past. Immediately, I noticed its lightweight design, which made handling it feel effortless. The blower really shone while tackling my leaf-filled lawn. With three-speed options, I could easily switch between modes depending on the task at hand. I favored the medium speed for general cleanup, while the high-speed setting was instrumental in clearing out dense piles of leaves. One aspect that impressed me was the battery life. The unit came with two batteries, allowing me to work for an extended period without interruption. The fast charging capability meant I could complete my yard work without waiting long to recharge, which is something every gardener appreciates. What I loved most was how comfortable it was to use. The ergonomic design, combined with the non-slip grip, ensured that I had control throughout my tasks. I didn't experience any discomfort even after a prolonged session, which I often do with heavier models. In summary, this leaf blower offers excellent value for anyone needing a versatile tool for yard maintenance. Its performance and battery life make it a compelling choice for both casual users and dedicated gardeners alike. Pros Cons Efficient airflow with 580CFM/160MPH Not ideal for extremely large areas Three-speed settings provide flexibility Slightly bulkier than some competitors Long-lasting batteries included Performance may vary with heavy wet leaves Comfortable and easy to use Noise levels can increase with higher speeds Great for routine maintenance   9. Husqvarna 150BT Gas Leaf Blower $345.51 - Buy Now Having always been a fan of powerful gas-powered tools, I was excited to try out the Husqvarna 150BT Backpack Leaf Blower. Upon using it, I quickly realized why this brand is trusted by many professionals. This blower is designed with power in mind, boasting an impressive 765 CFM and 270 MPH. During my test runs, I found that it handled large debris with ease.
I was able to clear my entire yard in record time, something I struggled to achieve with previous electric models. The backpack design is incredibly comfortable, distributing weight evenly across my shoulders, making it easy to use for extended periods. One feature I really appreciated was the adjustable air output, which allowed me to tailor the strength based on whether I was clearing leaves, grass clippings, or sticks. It made a noticeable difference in efficiency and control. The ergonomic harness system is a game-changer for someone like me who often spends hours outside maintaining their lawn. While this blower is undeniably powerful, it does come with a few drawbacks typical of gas-powered equipment. The noise level is higher than electric options, so ear protection is recommended. Additionally, the maintenance required for gas engines can be a bit of a hassle, especially for those not accustomed to such tools. To sum it up, the Husqvarna 150BT is an exceptional choice for anyone serious about lawn care and needing a powerful yet comfortable leaf blower. It may be on the pricier side, but its performance justifies the investment for those who desire efficiency. This blower is lightweight and easy to store, which is an added bonus, especially for homeowners with limited space. While it doesn't have extensive features, it gets the job done effectively. The two tubes included were useful for getting into tight spots, ensuring I could cover all aspects of my lawn care routine. I don’t understand people who are upset we don’t have all the answers about the Veil right now because quite frankly I thought that was the point? Like if we had all the answers then we get to the issue (that a lot of these same people had) where the seasons feel disconnected and like little actually matter until the last one before the expansion. They didn’t give us everything probably because we’re supposed to discover the answers as the year goes on before we chase the Witness through whatever portal it made. Bungie is doing what they wanted and yet people still complain
Yep, pretty much. They also did explicitly say in the latest TWAB that yes, the story will continue throughout the year. Some people took that as Bungie "having to tell us that there's more story because of how shit their writing is" but what I saw was community managers trying to politely explain to tens of thousands of raging players that the story isn't over. It felt almost passive aggressive to me given that this is exactly what players wanted:
We know there are still plenty of questions left unanswered at the end of Lightfall’s Campaign that you’re all eagerly awaiting answers to. As the events of Season of Defiance get into full swing this week, know that this is just the beginning of the next year of storytelling that will connect the events of Lightfall and The Final Shape. We can’t wait for the community to learn more about The Witness’s origins, its objective, and the ways we can thwart it and its disciples throughout Season of the Deep, as well as Seasons 22 and 23 later this year.
You made a great point about that. People asked that seasons become more meaningful. I remember that initially seasons were kinda all over the place and not really connected into a full story. Like, there were very few connecting points between Undying-Dawn-Worthy-Arrivals. Nothing that couldn't be summarised in 2 sentences. Even less if you look at Black Armory-Drifter-Opulence seasons from Y2.
On one hand, it meant that you could skip any and not lose much. But on the other hand, those that weren't skipping complained that the seasons aren't very well connected between each other and the main campaign of the year. This was a serious enough complaint that it became the reason for more connected seasons and also a reason to let seasons last the whole year, as detailed in a TWAB from April 2020:
We have been making progress carrying the overarching narrative Season over Season in Destiny 2. Saint-14 and Osiris led to the Warmind which leads to… [REDACTED]
It’s not perfect yet. The bridges between Seasons can definitely be improved, and we could do a better job of recognizing prior Seasons’ narrative threads in the active Season.
In Year 4, we are going to build a better interconnected narrative and, more importantly, let players be a part of that narrative no matter when they enter the current year.
I'm putting this here because people have notoriously bad memory, but we have tangible proof of people asking Bungie for seasons that have more meaningful and interconnected narrative. Bungie listened, but that also meant that skipping a season became harder if you wanted to stay in the loop. Obviously you can watch a playthrough online, but you know. But clearly the majority wanted seasons to be meaningful and were happy when Bungie listened.
And now suddenly we don't want the story to continue during the year? I understand the FOMO complaints and monetary complaints. If you buy an expansion, you want to NOT feel forced into buying all seasons for it in order to experience the full story. It's just strange to me that we are dropping that issue at Lightfall when BL and WQ were the same. A lot will say that they liked it before, but now just got tired of the same thing over and over, but what exactly is that thing? A good and connected narrative that links expansions and seasons? Do we now want a break year where seasonal stories are irrelevant and nothing meaningful happens?
Obviously, connected seasons benefit Bungie. I am aware that connecting the narrative like this means more people will feel compelled to buy the seasons. But if they're already making contect they want us to buy, then people want their purchase to mean something instead of getting content they easily could've skipped. It's kind of an impossible conundrum? We want the seasons to be good and narrative rich and meaningful, but we also want the seasons to be easy to skip and not necessary to play. That's kinda contradictory.
I genuinely don't know what is the solution and I welcome discussion about it. I just find most of the discussions about this kind of stuff to be very strange. Like, in most cases it just boils down to a contradiction of wanting the story to feel worth investing yourself into, but also easy to sit out. Those two things just can't both be true at once.

You know the show has improved so much since the beginning. That being said it baffles me that they still can’t fix Lila. She still has the main problem that everyone except Marinette and Adrien’s intelligence score drops by half whenever she’s involved. And her lies are never as clever or nefarious as the plot acts like that are.
It’s somehow made worse by Felix when he’s not even there because we know the show can write sneaky, smart, clever, and compelling villains.
Heck Even Hawkmoth who should be a joke at this point due to losing more than any other character has somehow become more and more competent and it feels weirdly earned.
Shows fixed a lot of things still needs to fix Lila.
She hasn't actually done much that's all that insidious since "Ladybug". Even in "Illusion", the major thing she did was just eavesdropping on the Core Four and then letting Gabriel know, it's not like she actually tricked her way into that information, even Chloe could've done the same thing.
I think there's this expectation with Lila that the Miracuclass should be screaming at her to go away and absolutely shunning her every time she comes within a few meters of one of them, if they were "smarter". But they don't even treat CHLOE with that much animosity and disdain, much less Lila, who, even if they knew she was lying (which I mean... she actually hasn't done much major lying since season 3), they wouldn't know how willingly she's working with Monarch, or even Gabriel (modeling for him doesn't mean she's spying for him, after all). She honestly hasn't done all that much that could be traced back to her, the big "wrong" thing she did was getting Marinette suspended in "Ladybug", and she explained that away as being part of a disease where she can't always control the things she says, which isn't so out there as to be completely unbelievable. And the Miracuclass is EXTREMELY nice and accommodating to people with disabilities or anyone who generally needs help.
I feel like people have a far, FAR inflated view of how much evil that Lila's committed that the Miracuclass should be able to catch onto, she's honestly done very little, overall.

Fifth Review: Digimon Top 10
I’ve been really enjoying Digimon Ghost Game, I don’t have anything else to write about this month, and Top 10s are fun, so here’s my Top 10 Favorite Digimon. Because.
NUMBER 10: OmegaShoutmon X-Antibody
Tumblr media
It may be obvious to people who frequent my reviews that I really like Shoutmon. A well-developed Digimon with a toy-centric gimmick I enjoy, and a very shiny evolution introduced half-way through the show to add to that gimmick. OmegaShoutmon ends up winning out over Shoutmon and his kingly evolution because I like the design more, and the X-Antibody version wins out over that for the same reasons. It’s definitely a bit over-designed, but I can’t help but want to see this thing Digi Xros’d with something to see how crazy it can get.
NUMBER 9: Bastemon
Tumblr media
I just think she’s cute. Also, I really enjoy her portrayal in Xros Wars, where she’s incredibly lazy 90% of the time, but can occasionally get really heated when she needs to. Her fight against Chuchumon, even though we don’t see it, is probably my favorite joke from that season.
NUMBER 8: Omedamon
Tumblr media
I don’t like April Fool’s Day. It’s a lot of really dumb jokes, most of them half-hearted, and very little of it I find interesting. Omedamon, however, is the exception. A crossover between Digimon and Medarot (Medabots) that wasn’t just fun, goofy art, but both Omedamon and the eventual 3 new Medarots (across two years) are usable units in both series’ mobile games. Not only did we get several great designs introduced into two franchises, but they were canonized. I wish more companies were willing to do this kind of thing.
NUMBER 7: Omegamon Alter-S
Tumblr media
Omegamon/Omnimon is definitely one of the most popular Digimon overall, and I like them as well. Every time I watch Children’s War Game, I well up a bit at the scene where their body is forming from the wishes of all the world’s children. Their design has also been replicated many times, both in series with Digimon like Chaosmon, Omedamon, and Shoutmon, and parodied in other series as well. Unfortunately for Omegamon standard, design always wins out over nostalgia with me, and Alter-S is a cooler design in my opinion. Replacing the familiar WarGreymon/MetalGarurumon combo with the (IMO) more interesting BlitzGreymon and CresGarurumon, they swaps the usual arm weapons and adopts a more dark appearance. I also love how they used them in Adventure:, with the dual-wield moments and final reveal against Abbadomon. An improvement on an already great design.
NUMBER 6: Dukemon (Amplified) (Art by @/Asmaria_)
Tumblr media
Out of every evolution gimmick introduced throughout the many season of Digimon, above-and-beyond, my favorite has always been Bio-Merging. It’s the ultimate extension of the partner concept focused on in the first three seasons, and several after. And while I like all four of the Lv.6 Digimon that utilize this mechanic, Dukemon/Gallantmon is my favorite. The knight aesthetic is great, his moment of evolution and following fight are the strongest, and like many of the Digimon on this list, he has many iterations to choose your favorite from. Mine, unsurprisingly, is the model kit version. It’s still Dukemon, but with a higher level of detail and a lot more sharp edges. Just a great design.
NUMBER 5: MetalGreymon (Virus) X-Antibody
Tumblr media
It’s not that I don’t like the original MetalGreymon, but his design isn’t that interesting to me. I like that he resembles his previous form, which not every evolution from season 1 does, but he isn’t as compelling to me as many of the other Greymon evolutions we’ve gotten, including Greymon himself. Virus X takes that uninteresting design and evolves it in a way I really enjoy, with the flaming hair and wings, increased metal parts, and especially the Alterous. It’s a rotating arm that can form MetalGreymon’s usual claw, or 180 and become a large cannon. It’s so cool that they gave it to MetalGreymon standard in Adventure: as a power-up. A fantastic upgrade to an originally meh design.
NUMBER 4: Pulsemon (Art by @/gebofrog38)
Tumblr media
An aspect of the games that never truly integrated itself into the shows until recently is a Digimon’s ability to have multiple evolutions. We saw moments here and there, like SkullGreymon and Megidramon, but they were one-offs; active mistakes caused by the Digimons’ Tamers. Then came the Vital Brace and Pulsemon, a Digimon designed specifically to not only have branching lines, but a branching web of evolutions. Since his introduction, we got a few more situational evolutions in Adventure: and it’s Gammamon’s main gimmick in Ghost Game. It’s a Digimon with a gimmick that it did so well it inspired copycats.
NUMBER 3: Shoutmon X3
Tumblr media
Again, I like Shoutmon. I always thought he was ok, but then I got my hands on the Xros Figures and my opinions of both him and how much went into his design skyrocketed. As I somewhat jokingly pushed the idea of him getting a model kit in the ongoing lines, I ended up becoming more and more serious to the point that I will be legitimately sad if I never handle a decent toy of this design in my lifetime. As for why I specifically chose X3, it’s because it’s the unencumbered base design without the Star Sword. While I like how it incorporates Shoutmon’s weapon as a handle, I’ve always thought the Star Sword was a bit goofy. Still, a great design that hits me right in my love of toys.
NUMBER 2: Gaioumon Burst Mode (Art by @/Asmaria_)
Tumblr media
Gaioumon has some interesting history behind him. He was originally designed to be BlackWarGreymon X-Antobody, but the design team thought he looked so much cooler than WarGreymon X that they opted to make him his own Digimon and BWGX a recolor in order to not overshadow one of their flagship characters. That being said, you’re probably confused as to why Gaioumon has a Burst Mode, a gimmick exclusive to four-and-a-half Digimon from Digimon Savers...
He doesn’t, actually. Gaioumon Bust Mode is non-canon. Turns out Gaioumon is actually the favorite Digimon of semi-frequent series collaborated As’maria, who created the above art, as well as the original Gaioumon. So it’s a fan character, but that fan works on the actual series.
On a fun side note, within the most recent run of X-Antibody Digimon we got Gaioumon: Itto Mode, who bears a number in interesting similarities to this design, such as the gold horns, scarred eyes, and stomach teeth. An unofficial design so cool that it eventually wormed its way into some form of canonicity. Heck yeah.
NUMBER 1: MetalGreymon (Xros Wars)
Tumblr media
Yes, MetalGreymon is on here twice, I’m not sorry.
A lot of points I’ve made previously on this list apply to this choice. It’s a toy-centric redesign that improves upon a lackluster original. It has a high amount of detail, three different evolutions, and something I haven’t been able to talk about thus far is I love its art. While it’s hard to find the old Xros Wars art at a good size, I love the thick outlines and the sketchy style of it. It’s because I like this design so much that I started painting the Xros Figures Greymon I got, and subsequently the rest of the line, to be more show accurate, and why I’m so sad I haven’t been able to find MailBirdramon to complete it. I’ve even been planning to commission art of a Xros Wars WaruMonzaemon that integrates with it to form a Xros Wars WarGreymon once I get both in hand to be able to fully understand the parts layout (I’m not the biggest fan of ZekeGreymon). There’s just so much going on that makes me like it. It may not be your favorite, but it’s the perfect Digimon for me.
Thanks for reading my ramblings about Digimon. It was fun analyzing why I liked all these designs so much. I know my concept over nostalgia mentality isn’t something most people will agree with, but that’s just how I think, and maybe this gave you a slight idea of how my brain works.

Action Master Galvatron
Back in the 1980’s, Hasbro’s Transformers toy designs and how they looked in the cartoon and comics didn’t always match up. Sometimes, this would be as drastic as Ironhide, where the figure didn’t even have a head, or Bumblebee, who didn’t have a mouth. And sometimes it would be like Galvatron, where the colors were just wildly different. The thing is, lately, Galvatron’s toy colors have been making a comeback, so when I saw this figure, I wanted to take a look and see how the colors hold up! So this week, we’re looking at “Transformers ReAction Figure Galvatron G1 Retro!”
Tumblr media
Once upon a time, Hasbro decided they needed to make more money and that the best way to do that was to clean the slate of their Transformers cast to bring in new characters to sell to kids. So, they put out an animated movie and traumatized kids all over the world by graphically killing almost all their favorite characters from the hit cartoon and by having Optimus Prime die in a hospital bed, surrounded by the new guys and the very few of his friends who were still alive. …Yeah, this went over with kids and parents as well as you would expect. Megatron, meanwhile, had a slightly different fate: A giant space-monster-robot shaped like a planet “transformed” him (See what I did there? My English degree at work.) into the mighty Galvatron, who would be the main villain of season 3 of the original cartoon and would go down in history as the most psychotic Decepticon of all.
The ReAction Figures are a line of retro-styled toys created by Super7, a company known for retro-style toys and generally fun nerd stuff. The figures are meant to emulate the toys of the 1970’s-80’s, and include just a massive amount of stuff. He-Man, The Simpsons, Terminator, Big Trouble In Little China, and even heavy metal band mascots are just a few of the many, many franchises you can find in the ReAction line.
The way the line approaches Transformers is pretty interesting. Since the figures aren’t able to transform, the toys are instead incredibly faithful recreations of the animation character models, with the exception of Unicorn, who is based off an unreleased figure. This actually has precedent in Transformers; in the 1980’s, Hasbro did a line called “Action Masters,” which were Transformers that didn’t transform and instead came with transforming accessories, resulting in a higher level of show accuracy. The ReAction Transformers don’t come with the accessories, but the lack of the need to turn into something means that the toy makers can put more effort towards recreating the character from the TV screen.
Galvatron’s sculpt is an almost exact replica of his TV appearance, which looks really great. The one real exception is that his arm-mounted gun is mounted at an angle, and that’s due to the laws of physics necessitating that compromise to keep the gun looking good without clipping into his arm, Color-wise, he’s very different from the usual all-purple Galvatron. Like I said earlier, these are the colors of the original Galvatron toy, but they’re applied to Galvatron’s character model. Personally, I love these colors on him. They go together well, making for a striking figure, and make me really see this guy as an upgraded Megatron. The translucent barrel of his gun’s a really nice touch, as well. It’s clear a lot of work went into this paint job. My one complaint, though, is Galvatron’s face.
Tumblr media
How do you know he’s an improvement from Megatron? He actually killed Starscream.
The dark grey used for his face makes it hard to make out the sculpting on it, though there is sculpting, and the dark red of his eyes makes his eyes blend into his face. I have to hold him up to my eyes to even make out any details.
Galvatron shares the same articulation as most ReAction figures: his arms swivel up and down, his legs move, and his head turns. Nothing too dynamic. There are a few things to watch out for. His shoulder pieces actually block his arms from a full 360 motion, though that’s not something that would really come up much in play, and you need to be careful how you grip his head to turn it so you don’t bend his horns.
Tumblr media
Galvatron! With the power to shake his fist in rage!
Galvatron comes with no accessories, and this is very much a good thing. His hands are solid, with no way to hold anything, so any accessories he did come with would have to be set aside. It does irk me a bit, honestly, because I would have liked him to be able to hold something, and I feel this limits him a bit.
Tumblr media
Just gonna sit here and chill.
“Reaction Figure Galvatron G1 Retro” stands at about 3.75 inches, which makes his $18 price tag, the standard price for ReAction figures, hurt. He’s a Target exclusive and is very much a collector’s item, with his packaging recommending him for ages 14+. I feel that his limited articulation and inability to transform mean that he’s a collectable best suited for people who display their toys on shelves or in the packaging, since he can’t pose or hold anything. Would I recommend him? Honestly, while I do really like him as a collectable, that price tag really irks me. I just can’t recommend him for that price. Wait until he’s on sale or you have a gift card. This is JS signing off and wishing you Happy Toy Hunting!

Do you any suggestion for Super Sentai?plz
*cracks knuckles*
Well first off, if anyone wanting to get into Super Sentai watched Power Rangers growing up, I’d check out the series whatever season you watched was adapted from to see how things went there in comparison to how they were in the United States. So if you grew up with the original Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, watch Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger. If you don’t know what the Sentai the season you grew up with is called, I’d check out RangerWiki, which provides a lot of information on both franchises.
I’d also recommend checking out a few episodes of the very first Super Sentai entry, Himitsu Sentai Gorenger. Not all 84 episodes, mind you, but I’d just watch a few to see where Super Sentai got its roots from, because the team football attack gets referenced a lot further down the line. Yes, you read that correctly.
But for individual seasons for beginners, it’s harder for me to answer. Super Sentai has varied aesthetically and tonally across its 45 year run. Some shows are dark and gritty, while others are light-hearted and goofy. Some shows have a vehicle motif, while others use animals for a motif. So the seasons I’m going to talk about will cover all kinds of tones and themes across the years. I also haven’t seen every single entry, so these are the ones I’ve seen that I recommend for beginners.
Tumblr media
Denshi Sentai Denziman (1980-1981, 51 Episodes)
Centuries ago, the evil Vader Clan conquered and decimated the Denzi Civilization. In the modern day, the talking dog IC awoke from his slumber when the Vader Clan began their invasion of Earth. So IC recruits five people to become the Denzimen to defend their planet and stop the Vader Clan once and for all.
The first three seasons of Super Sentai were very experimental, but Denziman was where Toei started to get an identity for Sentai down. Not only would the black visors and sculpted mouthpieces become a staple for Sentai’s (and by extension, Power Rangers) suit designs, but this was also the first season to really start a few Sentai traditions. It was the first season to have female villains, the first to use a transformation device for the heroes, the first time the monsters grew to fight the team’s giant robot.
The Denzimen, while not really going through any character development, are still very likable characters, especially Denzi Blue/Daigoro (played by legendary tokusatsu actor Kenji Ohba). The villains are also a lot of fun, a real improvement from the first three villain groups, who were all basically Earth-based terrorist organizations and/or death cults. The Vader Clan is full of villains who are just as entertaining to watch as the heroes, especially Queen Hedrian, played by the late Machiko Soga, who would later go on to play Witch Bandora, the character Rita Repulsa is adapted from in Power Rangers. There’s not that much of an ongoing for most of the series, and it can get pretty goofy at times, but it’s still a really good show.
Tumblr media
Choushinsei Flashman (1986-1987, 50 Episodes).
Five infants are abducted by the Reconstructive Experiment Empire Mess to use as test subjects for experimentation, but are saved by benevolent aliens from the Flash Solar System. They all spend the next twenty years in the system developing their combat skills and special powers until they decide to head back to Earth to fight Mess themselves as the Flashmen, despite the warnings of their alien caretakers.
The 1980s are usually referred to by fans as Super Sentai’s golden age, with a string of great seasons thanks to famed writer Hirohisa Soda. Flashman is no exception. While Denziman tended to have more stand-alone episodes, Flashman is more story-driven. Later on, there’s a really dark plot twist that I don’t want to give away. Admittedly, some of the special effects can be dated to showcase the Flashmen’s powers in addition to stock footage being reused a lot, but the action and camerawork are still fast-paced and rarely do the fight scenes get boring.
The villains are the kind you love to hate, and their actors all give great performances, especially the late Unsho Ishizuka (the Japanese voice of Professor Oak) as Great Emperor La Deus. This is easily one of the darker Super Sentai entries, but if you don’t mind that, I highly recommend it.
Tumblr media
Choujuu Sentai Liveman (1988-1989 49 Episodes).
At an academy for the finest minds in the world, three of the students feel their talents are being wasted on designing a satellite to conduct scientific research. They soon join up with Great Professor Bias, leader of the Armed Brain Army Volt, who takes them all under his wing as his students and generals. Before they leave, they kill two students, leaving their three friends traumatized. Two years later, Volt begins its plan to conquer Earth, but the three friends of the two victims developed their own technology to fight them as the Livemen in the two years since they last saw their former classmates. Bias’ students have developed their own abilities through mutating their bodies, starting a conflict between some of the most intelligent youths in the world while figuring out what Bias’ evil plan is...
Some Sentai fans consider this to be even darker than Flashman at times due to the themes discussed. Unlike earlier seasons, the heroes have a more personal connection to the villains, and act as foils to them in terms of morality. The show also has some surprisingly deep themes at times, deconstructing the harsh standards the Japanese have for education and the effects they can have on people. Seriously, the main villain, Great Professor Bias, sets up a competition for his generals as a way to advance his plans, treating it like a high academic honor.
This series also has some amazing special effects for the time. This was the first Sentai series to have an animal motif, so they go all out by using one of the most complicated models for his giant robotic lion, a stunning innovation for special effects. It was also the first series to introduce the gimmick of combining two robots, which is a genius marketing tactic when you think about it, motivating kids to buy both robots to combine them. Even putting those technical aspects aside, this is still one of the most iconic Super Sentai seasons, and a must-watch for beginners.
Tumblr media
Choujin Sentai Jetman (1991-1992, 51 Episodes)
An elite soldier is chosen for a top-secret military project meant to turn him into the leader of a team of supersoldiers called the Jetmen. After he gets his powers, the satellite base is attacked by the Dimensional War Party Vyram. Not only are the four remaining “Birdonic Waves” meant to empower the rest of the Jetmen scattered across Earth, powering four civilians instead, but the soldier’s fiance is killed in the process. So he has to recruit the rest of the Jetmen and form a competent team to stop the Vyram from conquering their dimension.
A lot of Precure fans view Heartcatch as the best series in the entire franchise, and many Sentai fans view Jetman the same way. It was a huge success in ratings and toy sales, which actually helped to save Super Sentai from cancellation after the disastrous sales and ratings of the previous series, Chikyuu Sentai Fiveman. It also had some elements that made it stand out from earlier Sentai seasons. While I’ve talked about how Marinette was forced to become Guardian against her will while the show doesn’t acknowledge it, this show actually does point out that almost the entire team is a group of civilians with no combat experience. Earlier episodes are not only spent assembling the team, but also training them to better fight the Vyram and pilot their giant robot.
The series introduced a love triangle for three of the Jetmen, and while controversial among fans, was very popular with Japanese mothers, who were rumored to find Gai/Black Condor very attractive and begged Toei to not kill him off. The love triangle, while arguably one of the weakest parts of this show (but still better written than the Love Square), was part of the main theme of the team being more conflicted, showing they weren’t all best friends all the time.
This extended to the Vyram, who also tended to fight with each other over their plans to conquer the Earth. Sure, there was the occasional villain in earlier seasons who tried to overthrow the big bad, but this was the first time we had a whole group of villains trying to one-up each other. The best way to describe the Vyram is if the cast of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia were supervillains who were still competent at their jobs.
The series is also incredibly dark, and is often seen as the darkest Sentai has ever gotten. There’s a lot more violence and blood than usual, and a lot more onscreen deaths that aren’t just limited to the villains. Humans are actively killed or hurt in the crossfire, and it shows just how painful this war is. And because of all of that and many other reasons, this is seen as the peak of Super Sentai. If you have to watch a single Sentai series, watch Jetman.
Tumblr media
Ninja Sentai Kakuranger (1994-1995, 53 Episodes)
During Japan’s Sengoku Era, a team of five ninja sealed away the leader of an army of Youkai, rendering their kind powerless. In the present day, one of the few surviving Youkai tricks two bikers, who are actually descendants of two of the ninja in the past, into undoing the seal and giving all of the Youkai their powers back. Another descendant of the ninja recruits them into taking on the legacy of their ancestors to fight the Youkai, becoming the Kakurangers.
The 1990s were when Super Sentai was starting to delve more into fantasy elements rather than just science-fiction, and also started to take on a more light-hearted tone. Kakuranger is no exception. It’s a lot more goofy than the other entries, even using comic book-style graphics during its fight scenes. There’s also a narrator who appears to explain the history of the Youkai of the week, a detail I really like. While this show is still unashamedly goofy, it still gets more serious in the second half, but never loses its comedic moments entirely.
Like with Jetman, Kakuranger shows the reality of drafting two civilians to fight a war against the supernatural, with only one of the first three Kakurangers knowing how to fight. That Kakuranger in question, Tsuruhime/Ninja White, is easily one of the best Sentai heroines of all time. Not only was the first female and non-Red to lead a Sentai team, but she was only fifteen years old while the other Kakurangers were in their twenties. Marinette could learn a lot from her, and no, that’s not an insult. Tsuruhime is a complete badass, and a team-up with Ladybug would be the coolest thing ever.
What was I talking about? Oh yeah, watch Kakuranger.
Tumblr media
Kyukyu Sentai GoGoV (1999-2000, 50 Episodes)
The demonic children of the Grand Witch Grandiene begin causing natural disasters to bring destruction to Earth in order to revive their mother. In response, five rescue workers who also happen to be siblings are recruited by their estranged father to become a team dedicated to saving lives from the Psyma Family’s actions.
Did anyone ever watch Rescue Heroes as a kid? Imagine that show, but with the intensity turned up to eleven. This show is epic, with amazing action and some of the coolest giant robots in Sentai history. One of their robots is a giant train armed to the teeth with guns. Even putting aside the action, this show does a great job at highlighting all the dedication rescue workers have to their jobs by showing a lot of rescue scenes in addition to having GoGoV fight the Psyma. It even teaches the audience about firefighters from Japan’s Edo Period. There’s really not a lot of shows that explain what rescue workers were like in the past, which shows just how invested this show is in teaching people about rescue workers.
While this wasn’t the first Sentai series to feature a team of siblings (the first being the aforementioned Fiveman), I think it managed to capture the dynamic best. Family is a key theme of the series, with the healthy relationship between GoGoV contrasting with the more toxic environment the Psyma Family has.
This is easily one of the most action-packed Sentai series ever made. It is literally Fire Force twenty years before that anime premiered, and it is AWESOME.
Tumblr media
Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger (2004-2005, 50 Episodes)
In the not-too-distant future (Next Sunday, A.D.), the universe has come together to the point where Earth has made contact with several intelligent alien civilizations. However, intergalactic arms dealer Agent Abrella starts to help out the extraterrestrial criminals on Earth, called Alienizers, by providing technology and giant robots to them because he enjoys profiting from crime, and dreams of a world without the police. In response the organization Special Police Dekaranger, or S.P.D., brings together a team of officers to apprehend the Alienizers.
You want to see space cops doing space cop stuff? Then this is the show for you. Admittedly, this isn’t the most story-driven show, but is instead carried by its characters, who go through a lot of development. The Dekarangers have one of the best team dynamics in Sentai history. All of them are very likable characters, and it’s a lot of fun to see them interact. But the best character in the show goes to the Dekarangers’ boss, Doggie Kruger/Dekamaster, a dog alien who becomes a Dekaranger himself, labeling himself The Watchdog of Hell. That has to be the coolest title any superhero has ever had. Dekamaster is another one of the greatest Super Sentai characters ever, taking down a hundred goons in his first battle by himself.
I haven’t even gotten to Agent Abrella, one of the coolest Sentai villains of all time. He’s obsessed with profit and chaos, and he’s easily one of the most sadistic main villains compared to his predecessors. He isn’t some evil emperor who wants to rule the world. He just wants to raise hell and make a quick buck from it. He’s also voiced by Ryusei Nakao, the Japanese voice of Frieza from Dragon Ball Z. That’s another appeal of Sentai, the voice talent. A lot of big-name voice actors have voiced characters, like Mao Ichimichi and Kotono Mitsuishi. Hell, the currently ongoing Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger has Yuki Kaji of Attack on Titan fame voicing one of the main characters.
Dekaranger is easily one of the most popular Sentai seasons out there, as it has a lot of additional material. Not only did the Dekarangers get a theatrically released film like many other seasons before it, they teamed up with two separate Sentai teams, some of them cameoed in the anniversary series Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, they got a reunion movie ten years after its finale, four of the Dekarangers guest starred in another Sentai series two years after that, Uchu Sentai Kyuranger, which served as a prologue to a team-up with another Toei hero, Uchuu Kenji Gavan, and then that led into the Dekarangers cameoing in another Kyuranger movie meant to be an epilogue to that series.
youtube
Yeah, this is why I haven’t talked about the Sentai movies in this post. You don’t have to watch any of these unless you really enjoy Dekaranger, which you should at least check out. It’s slow at times, but it’s still a lot of fun.

Engine Sentai Go-Onger (2008-2009, 50 Episodes)
The Banki Clan Gaiark have traveled from their home dimension of Machine World and chosen Earth as their new home, but they have to pollute the planet to serve as an ideal living space for their kind. In response, sentient animal-themed vehicles called the Engines choose five humans to partner up with, the five humans in question becoming the Go-Ongers.
Unlike most of the shows I talked about, Go-Onger is incredibly goofy, and I love it. The characters are all incredibly likable, both the Go-Ongers and the Engines. While Sentai had touched upon the idea of treating the mecha as sentient beings, this was one of the earliest series to actually have their partners talk, leading to some interesting character dynamics. The villains are also really fun to watch. While they’re about as competent as Team Rocket at times, there are moments where you actually feel bad for them, especially towards the end of the series.
It’s also really funny. Granted, comedy is subjective, so you may not find the same things as funny, but there are a lot of funny moments in this show, all helped by the actors giving amazing performances. Go-Onger can get extremely wacky at times, like in Episode 31. I’m not going to say what happens, you should watch it for yourself.
What makes the humor really work unlike the last attempt at a comedy-focused Sentai, Carranger, it didn’t really feel mean-spirited by portraying the heroes as idiots by claiming to be “parodying” Sentai. Yes, the Go-Ongers can be dumb at times, but they still take their jobs seriously when they’re not goofing around. There’s not really much I can say about Go-Onger other than it being a bunch of dumb fun. If you’re in the mood to start off with something more light-hearted, I’d check it out.

Samurai Sentai Shinkenger (2009-2010, 49 Episodes)
For centuries, generations of samurai have waged a war against a race of demons from the underworld called the Gedoshu. After their leader was temporarily sealed away for several years, the Gedoshu begin another invasion of the surface while trying to flood the Sanzu River, which grows through human misery. In response, the current generation of samurai, the Shiba Clan, assemble to fight the Gedoshu as the Shinkengers.
This was actually one of the first Sentai seasons I ever watched, as my first Power Rangers season was Samurai. And yeah, while Samurai is a really bad adaptation, I’m here to judge Shinkenger on its own. Admittedly, there are a lot of qualities that can be chalked up to cultural differences, like the whole honor code samurai have and certain plotlines you’d see in a jidaigeki film. The Shinkengers themselves are all very likable characters, and you can really relate to their struggles of being forced into this war (again, handled a lot better than what’s going on with Marinette). All of them have different responses to their situation. Some of them dedicate themselves to wholeheartedly following their lord (Takeru/Shinken Red) or being more vocal in their hatred of their duties.
The villains are also really interesting. Sure, the big bad is pretty boring, but the side villains are just so twisted they really steal the show. Takeru/ShinkenRed gets a rival who serves as a perfect foil to him, representing the idea of why one fights. Even the concept of the Gedoushu is pretty terrifying. Demons from another world hellbent on causing misery to flood our world with their water, which I must point out, is deadly to humans. They’re not my favorite villain group, but they’re a close second.
There’s also some clever plot twists that happen late into the series that I don’t want to give away. Sure, you might have a hard time getting used to the Japanese culture at first, but Shinkenger is still a great series.

Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger (2011-2012, 51 Episodes)
The Zangyack Empire invades Earth and because of their army reaching across the universe, they become the greatest threat the planet has ever had. In response, the previous thirty-four Sentai teams unite to fight them. They succeed, but the attack they used to wipe out the battle fleet stripped them of their powers. A few years later, a group of space pirates come to Earth in search of “The Greatest Treasure in the Universe”. While the pirates couldn’t care less about stopping the Zangyack, they still have to deal with them while searching for the treasure, which is somehow connected to the previous thirty-four Sentai teams. Also, the pirates form their own Sentai team, the thirty-fifth Sentai team in particular, the Gokaigers, who have the ability to TRANSFORM INTO ANY OF THE PREVIOUS SENTAI TEAMS.
For Super Sentai’s 35th anniversary, Toei wanted to go big this time. While the previous two anniversary seasons only had movies that paid tribute to Sentai as a whole, this was the first season where the anniversary aspect was in the premise alone.
The interesting thing is that the series was changed last-minute, and it was totally for the better. See, in March of 2011, Japan’s Tohoku Region was devastated by an earthquake registering at a 9.1 on the Richter scale. To this day, it was the largest earthquake ever recorded in Japan’s history, and that’s not even getting into the tsunami it caused the same day. What does this have to do with Gokaiger? In response to the tragedy, several tokusatsu stars including Super Sentai alumni took to social media to encourage kids to stay positive, and even asked some of Gokaiger’s showrunners if they could reprise their roles in an episode. Originally, there were going to be some cameos from past Sentai heroes, but it would only be limited to the ones whose powers would upgrade the Gokaigers’ giant robot. After this, there were a lot more cameos from Sentai alumni in the latter half of the series. Out of Gokaiger’s 51 episodes, 24 of them were tributes to past seasons. And that’s not even getting into all of the cameos in the movies too.
This was another one of the first Sentai seasons I ever saw, and it really helped me get into the franchise as a whole. It manages to explain things to people who haven’t seen certain seasons, while paying tributes to said seasons and making clever homages older fans will understand. Admittedly, the show does spoil the endings of the older seasons like Liveman and Jetman, so keep that in mind before starting this one.
Even outside of the tributes, the Gokaigers are some of the most memorable characters Super Sentai’s had in recent years. While they aren’t exactly evil, they start off not really interested in protecting Earth and care more about getting the Greatest Treasure in the Universe. The only reason they fight the Zangyack in the first episode was because their lunch was interrupted. A team of anti-heroes in Super Sentai hasn’t really been done before. Even then, there’s an interesting dynamic where some of the Gokaigers have more of a moral conscience than the others. And as the series goes on, they start to care more about protecting the Earth, even if they don’t admit it.
It’s just a really good show, and even if it isn’t your first, I’d check it out.

Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger (2013-2014, 48 Episodes)
When the alien entity known as Deboss invades Earth during the prehistoric era, another bird-like alien named Torin empowers several dinosaurs into the mighty Zyudenryu to fight off the invading force. After a brutal final battle, Deboss was sealed away, but his army of followers was still growing. In response, Torin started to recruit several humans throughout time into the modern day to become the Kyoryugers.
While Gokaiger was the first Sentai I ever watched, Kyoryuger was the first Sentai I watched every week as it aired, so it has a special place in my heart despite its middling reputation. Yeah, Kyoryuger has been criticized for starting the trend of Red Senshi stealing all the screentime, and while that can easily be applied to later entries like Shuriken Sentai Ninninger and Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger (the latter basically made Red and Gold the only ones to pilot the giant robots while the others watched), I don’t think it's as bad as everyone says it is.
There is just an amazing cast of characters here. It’s the first Sentai to be composed of ten rangers (while Dekaranger also had ten, three of them were just one-offs), and it does a really good job at balancing them all out. Yes, Daigo/Kyoryu Red does get a handful of power-ups and can be the focus at times, but the other characters all have their own distinct personalities and are just a blast to watch. I’d honestly recommend watching a few episodes of this show to get an idea on how to do an ensemble cast. If I end up doing the whole “tokusatsu has better toy tie-ins than Miraculous” thing, expect me to talk about how Kyoryuger introduces its new characters and giant robots.
And then there’s the soundtrack. Oh my God, the soundtrack. Sentai tends to have banger songs for their seasons, and Kyoryuger is no exception. “Vamola! Kyoryuger”, “Solid Bullet”, “Kyoryu Gold! Iza!”, “Yuuki Bakuretsu”, “Chou Shinka! Kyoryu Beat”, “Houkou! Bragigas”, and “Senkou no Brave”. So many of these songs are incredibly catchy, and I haven’t listed all of them. The show has a bit of a music motif, so it makes sense for there to be a lot of insert songs.
The one major flaw I have to point out is that you kind of have to watch the theatrical movie (which is only slightly longer than an average episode), in order to understand some of the plotpoints for the season’s endgame, but other than that, it’s still a really good season to start off on.

Mashin Sentai Kiramager (2020-2021, 45 Episodes)
The Dark Empire Yodonheim attacks the planet Crystalia, with the king’s brother betraying him and siding with the enemy. The kingdom’s princess is sent to Earth to recruit five warriors to fight the Empire. The chosen five all possess “Kiramental”, a way of weaponizing their imagination, which they use to defend the Earth’s radiance.
Precure fans might remember this being the season where Cure Star met the Red to promote the latter’s season (actually referring to Cure Star as his sempai), and I can kind of see why. A lot of fans have jokingly compared this season to Precure because of the gemstone motif and focus on creativity, with Juru/Kiramai Red acting like a Pink Cure according to some of the comments I’ve seen in Sentai discussion forums.
This is the most recent season to finish as of this post, and it’s already gotten a lot of praise in terms of writing, characters, story, and managing all of these during the COVID-19 Pandemic and having to adapt to losing five episodes in the process. The characters are very likable, the Red is one of the better ones in recent years with him being more timid compared to the more hotheaded ones, and the villains are also amazing, and some of the best in recent years. Episodes can range from funny to tragic to just plain awesome in terms of writing, with seemingly innocent filler episodes being the source of major bombshells and plot twists.
Honestly, there’s not much I can really say about this show other than check it out for yourself.
But these are just my recommendations. If you do some research and see a season you like, I’d go for it. If anyone else wants me to do these for Kamen Rider and Ultraman, I’d be happy to.
Sorry this took so long.
