18. Do any of your stories have alternative versions? (plotlines that you abandoned, AUs of your own work, different characterisations?) Tell us about them.

Thank you for the ask!! I'm going to answer this for fics where I wrote the first draft because some stuff does get moved around/changed/removed when jay writes the first pass and sends it to me because of, for example, annoying canon details like silver being chained to randall in eleanor's office.

so. the answer is sort of.... not really? because I am the planet's slowest and most self indulgent writer, I mostly write like... scenes as opposed to stories. stuff gets cut sometimes, but it's usually like, lines of dialog. I will say that at the end of the gusephant in the room (psych ot3, jules pov) I had written a bit where shawn kisses jules on the head and then leans over to kiss gus the same way and remarks on gus's head oil and also they fence with red vines, but I couldn't quite figure out where the end of it was, so I just ended before that.

but especially for all the black sails stuff, there usually isn't like. room. for stuff to be omitted or changed. I ponder a LOT about characterization before I actually do the writing, and I like to think I have a pretty solid grasp on characters in mind when i write them. Honestly, the most common process is: think a lot, block out dialogue and basic draft, rewrite to include internal monolog and fix flow and stuff. I've no problem cutting something from draft to draft but generally, nothing I write is like. long enough or complicated enough to go through those sort of revisions without scrapping entirely and starting over. (as I said, unless jay is involved; those fics actually have *plot*)
