Ok but the craziest thing? Is if Kara shows up.
And it’s MELISSA’S VOICE—
Edit:
Ok but y’all. Actually.
Melissa, Katie, Chyler, Nicole, even f***ing CHRIS WOOD—the PRINCE HIMSELF—were rooting for SC when SG was on.
Can you imagine that conversation?
Melissa would be wary to come back. SG had a great run, but she and Chris have a kid now, and the show ended on a pretty good note. But Chris did Netflix’s new He-Man, which aired shortly after SPOP was over, and all that stuff is loosely connected. Those creative teams are at least gonna be aware of each other, and as good an actor as he is, he would be aware of the lore around SPOP—how connected she was to the original He-Man cartoon, and how SPOP’s popularity is totally how they were able to so easily get a He-Man reboot off the ground.
Imagine, if you will.
The My Adventures of Superman creatives—a whole pack of SPOP and Steven Universe people—approach the CW SG alums on a Zoom call.
“We know Supergirl ended. It was a beautiful, pride-filled show, and you founded an amazing queer fandom to follow it. But it was never allowed its final bloom, regardless of your pushing.”
They produce concept art of queer Kara, her hair a-la Carol Danvers in The Marvels, hands on hips, a determined smirk on her face. Lena stands beside her, smirking back, full maroon business suit and those sparkling green eyes.
“We want to go there. We want to give Kara the Pride she deserves. And we want you to be with us.”
In their group chat:
Melissa: Well?
Chyler: >YOUTUBE - KARA LEANED IN<
Melissa: Heh.
Chyler: >YOUTUBE - KARA AND LENA CONSTANTLY FLIRTING WITH EACH OTHER<
Nicole: RECEIPTS 👏🏼
Chyler: >YOUTUBE - SUPERCORP CRACK<
David: Was there crack on the show? Did I miss crack?
Nicole: You played a detective, lmao
Chyler: >YOUTUBE - LENA BEING HORNY ON MAIN FOR SUPERGIRL<
Katie: Oh gosh—
Chyler: >YOUTUBE - ALEX DANVERS HAVING TO THIRD WHEEL SHIP SUPERCORP FOR THREE MINUTES<
Melissa: So one “yes,” then.
A moment goes by. Chris is grinning. The final nail:
Melissa: Katie?
Katie: …
Katie: “See ya tomorrow, boss.”
Melissa grins wide.
Melissa: “❤️”
AND SIX MONTHS LATER, WE’VE GOT SUPERCORP KISSING ON SCREEN, WHICH OFC THEY WILL AIR THE EPISODE ON EITHER
MAY 13 — 5x13, the episode code for “It’s a Super Life”
JUNE 20 — 6x20, “Kara,” and during Pride Month
OR
JUNE 8
AKA
6x08
WHEN KARA LEANED IN
AKA
“WELCOME BACK, KARA”
EDIT 2 (bc I’m unhinged):
And the episode where they finally kiss on screen is about Kara convincing Clark it’s okay to tell Lois, finally, that he’s Superman. Because A), She’s probably going to figure it out anyway lol, she’s Lois Lane. And a more important B), After a lot of struggle with vulnerability, Kara learned it’s okay to let people in. To let them take care of you. You don’t always have to save the world alone. “El Mayarah, little cus.”
And Lena walks up to her on the balcony where they were chatting, Kara still in her full Supergirl garb.
“Hey, Kara,” she says.
“Hey, yourself.”
“I ordered potstickers.”
“Mmm.”
“Shall we head home?”
Kara looks at her with a look of total peace. “Love to,” she says, and scoops her up. A soft twinkle of one of her theme songs from the CW plays on piano in the score… And Kara kisses her. Simple, but full. Like she’s finally home.
“Good luck, Superman. I’m a text away.”
And Lena and Kara fly off into the Metropolis skyline.
Once she’s gone, Clark texts her.
Clark: A Luthor and a Super.
Kara: 😌 Something like that.
Kara: ❤️
Even if she was in one episode and never again. I cannot explain. The healing that would happen. Inside my fractured, grinch-like heart.
Okay, so My Adventures With Superman was everything I hoped it would be and more! Clark is a fun, charming, earnest himbo. Lois is a driven, confident reporter with a knack for finding a story and not really thinking of the trouble it'll get her into. And Jimmie is an eager conspiracy theorist who's ready to uncover the truth with his friends.
I honestly love this version of the main trio. They're funny, energetic, and lively and they go together well. And most of the background characters are fun so far. Perry is fantastic as their perpetually tired and fed up with their bs boss. This Ma Kent is FANTASTIC. And this version of Livewire is an interesting (and hot) take on the character.
And I love how immediately into each other Lois and Clark are. Their obvious crushes on each other is refreshing and done really well, leading to a lot of cute moments just in the first two episodes.
So okay, when I watched this, my first thought, after just "holy shit this is great!" was that WOW, for a completely straight show, it just kind of feels gay. Like, it has a very queer vibe to it. Somehow, despite Lois and Clark being a het relationship it kind of feels sapphic as hell in the way it's done. And I'm sorry, but this version of Livewire was designed for lesbians:
So I looked at the credits, and yep, it made sense.
The show was developed by Jake Wyatt, who worked in the animation department for the Duck Tales reboot and Steven Universe. Josie Campbell is the co-producer, who was a writer and story editor on She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. The first episode was directed by Jen Bennett, who directed 17 SPOP episodes, including Princess Prom, Promise, and Save the Cat. And the second episode was directed by Diana Huh, who was a co-director and storyboard artist on SPOP, and a storyboard artist on the Duck Tales Reboot, Infinity Train, and DC Superhero Girls.
My point is that there are a number of SPOP alum working on this show and it shows because somehow, someway, this silly little (so far) completely het show about one of the oldest superheroes and America's boy scout, feels fresh and gay as hell.
And who knows, maybe there'll actually be some queer content down the line. I mean, Kara is supposed to show up at some point. 😏 A girl can dream, can't she?*
My Adventures With Superman feel fun, fresh, and very anime-inspired and I 100% recommend checking it out. It airs on Adult Swim and HBO Max, and the first episode is free to watch on Adult Swim's Youtube page.
Also, I want you all to know that I worked really hard to make this a decently coherent post and not just a lot of squealing about how great this show is and how adorable fucking Clark and Lois are.
*For real, if, against all odds, this show was somehow the show that pulled off Supercorp, I would LOSE. MY. MIND. I know, there is a 0.0002% chance of that happening, but again, a girl can DrEaM!
#bc OFC the SPOP and SU ppl would acquaint themselves with such details#I am FERAL#🥹#is it possible to write a fanfiction about contract negotiations?#because I think I just did#y’all remember that episode with the text 🥹#this is my first actual published attempt at fanfiction#so please be kind#I would die#simply DIE#and the show about America’s Boy Scout#would become my favorite super media after#wandavision#ofc#superman#clark kent#my adventures with superman#lois lane#kal el#clois#jimmie olsen#martha kent#ma kent#pa kent#supercorp#Kara Danvers#Lena Luthor#spop#she ra netflix#steven universe

Distant.

Author’s Note: Here is another installment of Baby Mama. EJ is brand new and so is this situationationship. Enjoy, sleazies!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Erik leaned against the railing of the VIP section - staring down at the pulsing crowd as lights danced across the darkness. He felt the heavy bass in his chest as the DJ played yet another crowd pleaser. The Hennessy tasted bitter and warm as he sipped slowly. His eyes trailed a petite brunette with radiant skin. Her curls were tight and kinky, like yours, and his breath caught in his throat as his mind drifted to you, home alone, with his newborn son.
Erik swallowed the rest of his liquor, relishing in the burn. He had done everything short of beg and plead to keep you from moving out, but you were adamant you needed your own space - distance was the word you kept repeating. How the fuck can you be distant from the father of your child? He gestured to the waitress for another drink - destined to drown the want for you in a sea of liquor and nameless pussy.
He slid into the booth - his arm resting on the shoulder of a third wheel, her friends wrapped up in his, and smiled - his golds peeking through his sly smile. He offered a shot to the stranger as he reached for his phone vibrating in his pocket. Your picture lit up his screen - your bright eyes melting his resolve even in a picture.
ej needs diapers :(
Erik was clear that any need EJ had would be taken care of, and he meant that shit - even if he was in the club, trying to score some new pussy and a number. Pushing the heavy glass onto the table, Erik stood, shouting over the trap music - “Aye, I’m out.” He dapped his friends, leaving his true purpose unsaid as he left the third wheel pouting in the leather booth.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Oh, my bad,” Erik pulled his cart to the side allowing the Karen to pass as he studied the shelf of diapers. His eyes scanned for the teal label and white lettering - grabbing two boxes of two different sizes and sliding them under the cart with ease.
Erik pushed the cart slowly through the aisle - searching for familiar labels he had seen at your apartment. You had only texted him for diapers, but what if you had forgotten other stuff? Grabbing diaper cream, body wash, and two packs of wipes, Erik pushed the cart through Target, one of few shoppers in this twilight hour.
Walking into the grocery section, he couldn’t help himself as he grabbed your favorite snacks and drinks. You hadn’t asked for anything, but did you have groceries? He didn’t know. You had been bringing EJ over for visits and hadn’t invited Erik to your new apartment yet. It had stung that you hadn’t opened your space to him, but he respected your wishes for distance - whatever the fuck that meant.
As he approached the check out, the display of fresh flowers caught his eye. He never bought a bitch flowers before, but you weren’t a bitch. He grabbed a bouquet of pink roses, laying them gently on the filled cart, and walked towards the check out.
Approaching self-checkout, Erik grumbled, “Why the fuck do I have to scan my own shit if I don’t work here?”
The lone cashier approached wearing a tired smile, “Late night shopping for the family?” Her smile was sickeningly sweet as she started scanning Erik’s groceries, taking over the self-checkout.
His nose scrunched at the invasive question, “Yeah, something like that.” He shoved his hands deep in his pockets as the cashier attempted small talk. Erik wasn’t listening as she droned about how her husband would never do the family’s shopping and he must be a special breed. “If your man isn’t willing to get what you need, you need a new man.” Erik scoffed, swiping his card absentmindedly, ignoring the three digit amount of his impulsive shopping trip.
Leaving the receipt and a speechless cashier, he pushed his cart to the exit, texting you as he walked into the parking lot.
be there in fifteen. open the door.
—————————————————————-
He rode in silence to your apartment - an out of the way complex off a side street in the cut. He offered to pay for your bills and you refused - determined to earn it on your own. He offered his apartment to you and you refused. He offered to rent a house for you and EJ and you refused. You refused his gifts and money, instead asking for quality time - his attention was the most expensive gift he could afford.
You had fallen into the role so effortlessly - EJ shifting to the center of your universe and Erik falling into rotation - pulling at you like the moon to the waves as he tried to find his place in the new family. The complex was nearly deserted - your shiny SUV sitting oddly in front of the modest townhome. Buying you a new car was the deal breaker - Erik declaring his son wouldn’t ride around in a metal death trap and he gifted you a small SUV the day after you came home from the hospital.
Backing into the space, he opened the hatch, his muscular arms carrying the bags of groceries with ease. He left the flowers and diapers - saving those for the final trip and turned, jogging up the cement steps to your walkway. Tapping the door with his shoe, he heard you shifting inside, mumbling to yourself as you cracked the door.
“Shit, Erik. You scared me.” You opened the door, eyes wide, as he stepped into the small foyer, arms laden with groceries. “What is all this?” You tip-toed after him as he walked into the galley kitchen, dropping the groceries wordlessly and heading back to his truck as you started to unpack the bounty of items.
Your eyes gleamed as you found your favorite snacks. He even remembered favorite flavors - making sure all your yogurt was mixed berry and your Oreos were golden.
“Here. These are for you.” Erik stacked the diaper boxes in the hall as he held the flowers extended towards you. “I thought, you know, you’d like the pink ones.” His gaze fell to the almost unpacked groceries. “I hope I got all your favorites. I ain’t know if you had food or not. I just…” His voice trailed off as your arms wrapped around his waist - your soft frame melting into his.
He felt your body shake with soft cries as he held you close. The tenderness of the moment overwhelming you as you cried into his shirt - the gesture of flowers and your favorite snacks bringing you to tears. Being home alone and taking care of EJ alone took its toll and left a tired and weary stranger in its place.
“You okay, little mama?” Erik’s heavy hand rubbed your back as your tears dried against his shirt. You nuzzled into him - letting his security wrap you up and piece you back together with each tight squeeze. Erik felt your arms tighten around him as he shifted to the couch, pulling you into a sitting embrace. As you sank in his lap, your head nuzzled into his neck and your breathing slowed as he continued to caress you softly.
“Thank you.” Your appreciation was no more than a whisper, spoken into his neck as you shifted in his lap. “It’s been so tough. I’ve felt so alone.” Your confession was painful, but necessary. Your friends had drifted into the shadows and your family had visited, but couldn’t stay. Erik was all you had, despite his flaws.
“Aye, you never have to say thank you. You’re mine. He’s mine. I take care of mine.” He pulled your full bottom lip, watching it bounce under the weight of his thick thumb. “You don’t always have to be so hard. It’s okay to want me.” The pad of his thumb slid over the apple of your cheek. “It’s okay to need me.” The air felt heavy as your head fell against his shoulder - words left strangled in throats as EJ’s soft cries echoed through the apartment.

Since we witnessed Avalon and Daniel fighting a lot can we have a cute lil first date with them👉👈
Of course you can! 🥰 And a lil themed title stripe with faceclaims to set the qtvtp mood...
Warnings: Bit of spice but nothing too detailed
Avalon clutched her phone to her ear, sitting in her car in the parking lot behind Bluestone Lane after her shift. The line rang once…twice…she rechecked the number that was scribbled on the receipt in her hand. She felt like a fool. What was she trying to gain from this? The line rang a third time. She shifted nervously in her seat and nearly gasped when the ringing stopped a voice came through the line,
“Hello?”
Avalon hesitated.
“Hello?” he tried again.
“H-Hi.” Avalon spit out. She mentally cringed at the wavering of her voice. “Is this…” she glanced back down at the receipt as if she hadn’t read it enough times to perfectly well know his name, “Daniel?”
There was a small shuffle through the phone as she could almost hear him smile, “Avalon.”
“Yeah.” she exhaled in near relief.
“Part of me wasn’t expecting you to call.”
“Why’s that?”
“I dunno. You didn’t seem like the type to take much bullshit.”
“I don’t.”
“Well I’ll thank my lucky stars you gave me a shot then.”
There was a pause and Avalon bit her lip to hide from no one the smile that was starting to form itself on her face. She pressed her hand to her cheek and rested her elbow on the window ledge of her car.
Daniel shuffled around through the phone before continuing, braking their momentary silence, “Would you like to go out with me this weekend?”
Avalon wasn’t sure what she had expected him to say when she called him but his question had her heart fluttering with nervousness. Despite this, she played it cool, “Where would you take me?”
Daniel chuckled, “Does Santa Monica sound good?”
“The Pier?” Avalon squinted out the car window in the afternoon sun, “Alright.”
“Good. Text me your address and I’ll pick you up on Saturday. 6?”
“6 is fine.”
June 17, 2017
Here
Avalon stared down at the simple word on her phone screen. Four simple letters that she had no clue would honestly change the course of her life from that point onwards. She stood in front of her full length mirror in her living room and eyed her soft reddish brown dress, suddenly very unsure about her choice in outfit – she had already changed three times that evening and it seemed four wasn’t the lucky number.
But she had no time to go change again because Daniel was already there to pick her up – even if he was a few minutes late. She grabbed her purse and her keys and hurried out of the door and down the hall, trying to ignore the nervous butterflies that were filling her stomach.
He was stood outside her apartment complex, leaning against a shiny white Tesla in jeans and a patterned button up covered by a burgundy jacket. She could see him eyeing her up as she exited the building and approached him, her cheeks dusting a little pink under her gentle makeup and she discreetly held her arms in front of herself. She wished she didn’t wear a dress.
“Hi.” she said softly.
“Hi.” Daniel replied, eyes lingering on her as she fell to a stop a few small paces away.
“I didn’t know if this was appropriate to wear but…it’s warm tonight so…” Avalon faded out nervously.
“No,” Daniel shut her nerves down quickly, “You look amazing.”
Avalon could only blush lightly and thank him, and then once more when he opened the door for her. She eyed the interior of the car when he closed the door and walked around to the other side and she took that moment to take a deep breath. She had been on a good amount of dates in her lifetime – all twenty-one years of it – and yet this one made her feel like a shy little girl again. It wasn’t shallow enough to be his obvious money that intimidated her and it maybe wasn’t necessarily his attractiveness, but there was something about him that had those butterflies fluttering excitedly and nervously inside her.
Daniel climbed in the drivers side and started the car. He directed a question to her as he pulled away from the curb, “Did you eat already?”
“Just something small.” Avalon said.
“You’ll make it to the pier then?”
“Yes. I think I’ll survive.” Avalon giggled.
Daniel smiled and she caught it, glancing at him as he stared out the windshield as he drove them through the downtown streets of Los Angeles. The sun was still up but getting lower on the horizon and it sent sparkles of light across the ocean as they approached the beaches. They were quiet for a moment.
“You are older than eighteen, right?” Daniel asked to break the silence.
“Yeah. I’m twenty-one. Twenty-two in December.” Avalon assured him easily.
“Good…nice. I turned twenty-two in April.”
Avalon eyed him for a moment as he drove, “You’re only twenty-two?”
“What, do I look old or something?” he chuckled.
“No,” Avalon answered quickly as she eyed the Tesla logo between his hands on the steering wheel, “You just…seem to have a lot of money for someone so young. $100 tip isn’t something to be brushed off.”
“Well I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.” Daniel shrugged. “My best friend and I had the right connections out of university last year and right away our record company has been catching like wildfire. It’s incredible. I’m truly blessed. Just bought this beaut of a car last month; bit of a late birthday gift to myself.”
“That’s…amazing. I’m just a waitress.” Avalon chuckled lightly.
“No dream job on the horizon?” he asked.
Avalon shrugged, “Not really. I volunteer at the kids club by the beach sometimes but nothing in life seems to be calling to me…at least not yet.”
“That’s okay too. You have lots of time.”
Daniel parked the car by the beach, navigating through the crowds that were making their way down the boardwalk towards the brightly lit pier. The sky was painted a light orange as evening was falling and the day was ending but their night was only just beginning. Daniel and Avalon got out of the car and he locked it behind them as they made their way to the pier.
“So are you from LA?” he asked.
“Oregon originally.” Avalon answered.
“Really? Me too. Whereabouts?”
“Bit outside Salem…just east. You?”
“My family bounced across the river between Portland and Vancouver a bit. Couldn’t seem to decide between Oregon and Washington but I was born in Oregon.”
“Small world.” Avalon chuckled lightly. She eyed him beside her for a moment as they walked. He was taller than her by a few inches and the angle she was at had the sun casting a warm glow over his face. She looked away again, turning to the boardwalk they walked along, “Work brought you here then?”
“Yep. University of Washington grad just like my brothers but life had higher hopes for me than it did them.”
“They’re not here?”
“My eldest brother moved to Nashville for real estate and my second brother is in LA too…trying his luck with acting.”
“Acting.” Avalon breathed.
“Yeah.” Daniel chuckled lightly. “Bit of a stretch but he’d never hear me say that.”
“Of course not.” Avalon smiled softly.
They approached the ticket booth and Daniel ordered them a roll of tickets paid in cash with a slide of a $50 bill. Avalon had her hands resting nervously on her purse as she watched him pay without second guessing…she hated when people bought things for her…she always felt far too much of a burden.
Daniel seemed to sense her hesitation when he turned back to her with the roll of faire tickets in his hand, “I asked you out. I pay.”
Avalon only smiled lightly and nodded. He set his hand on the small of her back – barely ghosting her body – to lead her farther onto the pier and under the large sign that read Pacific Park. She shivered at his simple touch but his hand was gone before it could even be processed. With the sun setting, the neon lights of the fair began to turn on and soon the pier was lively with nightlife of families and young adults alike running between rides and arcade games.
At this time in the world, Daniel’s career was new so he could still generally go through public life ‘unnoticed’ which made the night that much more special. He didn’t have to worry about publicity or work and he just had fun. It was easy to have fun with Avalon, especially when she was screaming on the roller coaster at the top of her lungs. She was carefree and genuine and pretty and Daniel couldn’t help but realize he might be falling for her already.
After a few rides, they shared a funnel cake on a bench over looking the beach and the ocean as the sun finally dipped below the horizon. They sat side by side as they chatted and ate, nearly so close that their thighs were touching. They talked about growing up and their jobs and their favourite things from films to family vacations.
“Do you snowboard?” Daniel asked through a mouthful of funnel cake.
Avalon giggled at the way it morphed his voice and then shook her head, “No. Never.”
“Never?” Daniel gaped at her. They both moved in for another piece and their plastic forks bumped. “Well then, I’ll just have to take you snowboarding one weekend.”
Avalon smiled bashfully as he obviously was already thinking about seeing her again, “That would be fun.”
When their snack was done, the sun was completely set and the night sky was polluted with city lights and the neon stripes that filled the pier. Life was still bustling around them as strangers made the most of the fair and Santa Monica was filled with lively screams and noises of games and rides. Daniel and Avalon walked side by side through the fair and she stopped when he did.
He glanced at the game booth he stopped beside and sent her a cheeky smile, “Is it cliché for me to win you a bear?”
“Disgustingly cliché.” Avalon agreed.
“Let me do it anyway?”
“Of course.” she stepped up beside him. “Let’s see that arm, Daniel.”
He handed the clerk two of their dwindling roll of tickets in exchange for three balls. The objective was to knock down the three horses each at varying distances from the player and if you got all three, you won the largest prize.
Avalon watched intently as Daniel picked up one of the balls and tossed it in the air as if to get a feeling for it. He glanced at her, sent her a cocky smirk, and then aimed and threw it to one of the targets. Clear miss.
“Goddamn.” Daniel mumbled.
Avalon laughed lightly and leaned forward on the wooden counter ledge as he picked up another ball. She watched him lick his lips and then narrow his light eyes in concentration and he threw the second. Miss.
“What the fuck.” Daniel grumbled, grabbing the last one. His cheeks were slightly pink in embarrassment. He missed the last one too by only an inch or so. “Oh come on.”
Avalon hid her laughter behind her hands.
Daniel looked to the clerk who was retrieving the balls, “How much for the bear?”
“They’re not for sale.” the man said with an amused smirk.
“Please?” Daniel nearly begged. “I just want a bear to impress this pretty girl. Do me a solid, bro.”
“Should have better aim then, dude.” the clerk retorted. He fished around behind the counter and set a rubber duck with a little sailors hat on the surface, “Best I can give you is this.”
“Oh, great.” Daniel said sarcastically. “A pity prize.”
“Don’t be such a sore loser. My turn.” Avalon nudged him to the side. She handed over her two tickets and got three balls in return.
Daniel was left shocked as she hit every horse down and was passed one of the large teddy bears off the shelf.
“Thank you!” Avalon said to the clerk as she struggled to hold the bear that was almost the size of her. She turned to look at Daniel behind the bear as they started walking away, “Here. I won you the bear you wanted so badly.”
“What the hell? How did you do that?” Daniel gaped, helping her to hold the bear up off the ground.
“I played softball for a few years.” she said proudly.
“Damn.” Daniel tisked.
“Don’t be jealous. You got a cute duckie.” Avalon nudged him.
Daniel frowned down at the rubber duck in his hand.
Their last stop was the ferris wheel and after a bit of a lineup they were buckled into their seats with the huge teddy bear tucked between them. They fell into natural silence for a bit as the wheel spun them around slowly and at the top they could see a lot of Los Angeles lit up through the night. Daniel stared at her for a while as she looked out across the city and when he finally turned to admire the ocean, she stared at him. He must have been one of – if not the – most handsome men she had ever seen.
When the ride was over and their tickets were all used up, they headed back up the pier towards the parking lot by the beach. As they walked away from the fair the lights faded a little and Daniel glanced at her and her light fabric dress she wore.
“Are you cold?” he asked, breaking their quiet.
Avalon looked over at him but she couldn’t answer before he was shrugging off his jacket and draping it over her shoulders. She smiled softly and thanked him with a whisper.
They continued in peaceful silence and Daniel glanced down between them to her hand that wasn’t holding her bear. He discreetly reached out to brush his fingers over hers just to hear her gasp under her breath in surprise. They didn’t speak as they walked slowly and he slid his hand into hers, carefully lacing their fingers together as if he were treading in dangerous waters. But Avalon only looked up at him and smiled sweetly, holding his hand nice and snugly. He made her heart race.
They soon reached the car and he unlocked it so she could tuck the bear into the backseat. He stood a few paces away to just watch her, how she set the stuffed animal in the seat to make it look like it was actually sitting and buckled in. He was falling for her. He had never fallen for anyone and, gosh, it was only the first date.
Avalon closed the door and turned to smile at him, “He’s all buckled in.”
“Good.” Daniel whispered gently in reply.
He stepped closer as she opened the passenger door and he cautiously grabbed her arm to stop her. Her little gasp filled the space between them as he turned her around and gently leaned her back against the side of his car. The parking lot was quiet and they both took a second to stare at each other, standing so close they could feel each other’s body heat.
She could see the lights from the near distant pier reflecting in his eyes. He could see the stars in hers. His eyes focused on her face, down her nose, her neck, and lingered on her collarbones and curves of her breasts that pushed up the material of her soft brown dress. His jacket that was draped around her shoulder was slightly big on her.
Daniel spoke in a whisper, “Can I kis-”
She finished his question for him as she set her hand on his chest and leaned up to push her lips on his. They both froze for a moment in time, unmoving, still except for the light ocean breeze that ruffled their hair. Daniel’s hands finally moved to her cheeks, locking her lips with his in a soft kiss as they breathed in time together. They shared long lingering kisses, lips meeting and parting slowly in the nighttime air to the faint waves of the ocean on the shore.
Avalon’s arms slid around his shoulders and she tilted her head slightly to kiss him deeper, welcoming the flick of his tongue against hers with a small inhale. Their kisses were careful and still slightly hesitant but only growing deeper with time as tongues pushed gently against each other between mostly closed mouthed kisses.
Daniel moved his hands from her face down to her hips and gently led her back, breaking their kiss. They still stayed close as their noses brushed and lungs breathed in the sea air together as if they had known each other far longer than merely two days. He sighed lightly and left a few more soft kisses to her lips and she could feel his lashes brushing her cheeks when he moved and she inhaled the woodsy smell of his cologne as her eyes stayed closed a moment longer.
“Wanna come over?”
His words fell between them like a simple breath, holding the status of their early-stage relationship in its grasp. With eyes still closed, Avalon bit back a little smile and nodded gently, sliding her hands from around his neck to his shoulders.
“Yeah?” Daniel clarified.
“Yeah.” she whispered, pushing another kiss to his lips.
Both of them barely remembered getting in the car or driving out of the parking lot and the ride through the city streets was perfectly peacefully silent. They both had little smiles on their faces and Avalon was looking out the side window holding the little rubber duck in her hands on her lap, her lips tingling from where he had kissed her. He somehow managed to take her breath away so easily.
Daniel’s head was spinning. He was twenty-two, he had experiences with girls, but there was something about Avalon that was the first one to make him nervous. It felt so easy at Bluestone. He flirted, he sent his sweet smile, and got her number, but once he got to know her, it all felt so…real. He pulled up to a red light and coasted a stop. The roads were almost empty and the streetlamps that lined the sidewalks cast shadows and light across the interior of the expensive car. They made her dark eyes sparkle to the point where he reached over to set his finger on the side of her face and turned her to face him as he leaned in for another kiss. He couldn’t get enough of her.
Avalon smiled softly into it, gladly kissing him back, letting her eyes close and her senses to be captivated by him. She was already addicted. The light turned green and they barely even noticed until the car behind them honked. They shared nervous little chuckles as they continued through LA and towards Daniel’s house.
He surprisingly didn’t live in a mansion – Avalon had expected one for some reason – but Daniel pulled up into the driveway of a white-painted single storey house in the neighbourhood just out of downtown. It was nice. They both got out, not speaking a word as he plugged in his car and then led her up to the front porch. The teddy bear was left in the backseat.
The moment they were inside and the front door was closed, their lips found each other again like instinct. It was a mess of kicking off shoes and him leading her down the hallway to his room all while trying to stay connected by their mouths ungracefully. Avalon barely had a chance to even take in the sleek white and black accents of his bedroom before he was pushing off his jacket from her shoulders and she was working on the buttons on his shirt.
The rubber duck that was still tucked in her hand was haphazardly set on his side table as they fell onto his king size bed in a mess of sheets, limbs, and fiery kisses.
When their cravings had been filled and the sweat of the evening warmed their skin, they laid side by side under the white sheets, chests rising and falling in perfect time. Daniel had his arm around her shoulders and Avalon had hers resting against his bare chest, both of them laying in perfect silence as they wrapped their minds around the evening.
“I don’t sleep with guys on the first date.” she whispered.
Daniel shifted slightly to look her in the eye, “Was that…”
“No. It wasn’t my first time.” Avalon finished for him. “But I…I’ve just never…I’ve never slept with someone so quickly.”
“Is that a problem?” Daniel asked quietly, brushing her tangled blonde hair back from her face.
She propped herself up on her one arm and smiled softly and shook her head, “Not with you.”
Daniel swiped his thumb over her bottom lip, “Well…I don’t ever like women as much as I like you.”
Avalon’s cheeks flushed pinker than they already were and she leaned down to kiss him once.
“Stay the night?” he asked through a soft breath, dusting his lips across her cheek until shivers slunk down her arms.
Avalon smiled happily and nodded, resting her head down against his chest. Daniel pet her hair back and kissed the top of her head and she fell asleep to the sound of his heartbeat. The first night of the rest of their lives.

Second chapter up now on AO3, or read on below!
“Pizza delivery for one Kagome Higurashi!” The bright grin on the wolf demon’s face immediately fell when he saw who opened the door. “Oh, it’s you mutt. Ain’t you got a home of your own to go to? Or is the salary Myouga the flea’s paying you so miniscule that you’ve been reduced to couch surfing?” He chuckled at his own joke. Inuyasha did not join in.
“Hand over the pizza and fuck off”, he said pleasantly, holding out one clawed hand expectantly.
“I didn’t see your name on the delivery order”, said Kouga, making a show of checking the receipt then trying to peer into the apartment behind Inuyasha’s broad shoulders. “Nope, no mention of a mutt named Inuyasha. Only Kagome. For all I know, you’re a freeloader trying to steal Kagome’s hard earned dinner.”
“Yeah, she’s eatin’ three pizzas and a serve of garlic knots all by herself. Even though she’s the size of a wet kitten. Hand it over wolf.”
The stalemate continued, Inuyasha continuing to block Kouga’s view, and Kouga refusing to hand over the pizzas. Finally Inuyasha rolled his eyes and hollered for Kagome, who appeared in a pair of soft blue flannelette pyjamas and fluffy slippers, drying her damp hair with a towel.
“Oh wow Kouga, that was really fast! I didn’t expect you to deliver it in person!” she said, her blue eyes lighting up at the stack of cardboard pizza boxes he was carrying.
“You’re my favourite customer Kagome – I’m always going to deliver your pizza in person.” Kagome laughed a little uncomfortably.
“Aw, that’s sweet. Um, let me just get my wallet so I can give you a tip.”
“I’ll give him a tip”, Inuyasha grumbled, stepping aside so Kagome could pay Kouga. “You should wash behind your ears more often wolf, you stink.”
“Inuyasha!”
Kagome’s elbow caught him in the ribs, making him grunt. She pulled out a crisp ten dollar note to pass to Kouga and squeaked in surprise when his much larger hand wrapped around hers.
“Forget the tip. I’m finishing up work in an hour or so. How about I come back and take you out for a drink?”
Kagome smiled kindly at him, valiantly trying to tug her hand free, and failing dismally.
“Ah, um, Kouga, that’s very kind and thanks for the offer, but as you can see” she said, glancing down at her pyjamas and slippers, “I’m not going anywhere else tonight. I know it’s Friday, but it’s been a tough week at work. All I want to do is sit on the sofa, eat my pizza and just relax.”
“So, tomorrow then?” Kagome’s smile slipped a little, and she did her best to ignore the rumbling growl beginning from her inuhanyou friend looming protectively behind her.
“Um, I have plans. For the entire weekend”, she added quickly when it looked like Kouga was going to inquire about Sunday. Kouga sighed in obvious disappointment and then placed a lingering kiss on Kagome’s knuckles, before taking the money out of her hand and handing over the pizzas.
“Another time then mon chéri. Enjoy your meal!” Inuyasha slammed the door on him.
“What did I say to you about encouraging him?!” grumbled Inuyasha, taking the pizzas out of her hands and carrying them over to the coffee table. He dropped himself onto the sofa and flipped back the lid of the first one, making a disgusted face. “Yuck. Mushrooms. This one’s yours.”
“It wouldn’t kill you to eat a vegetable occasionally you know”, said Kagome, sitting down next to him, continuing to dry her hair. “And in what way was I encouraging Kouga? I told him no. I tell him no every time he asks.”
“That was a no?” he snorted. “You called him sweet and batted your eyelashes at ‘im. He’s gonna take that as a yes.” He flipped open another pizza box and breathed in the fragrant smell of pepperoni and cheese. “Kouga’s a wolf youkai Kagome. You need to be firm with him, or he’s gonna walk all over you. Say somethin’ more like ‘stop asking me out, because I wouldn’t date you if you were the last demon on Earth’. That should do for starters. And if that doesn’t work, lemme punch him a coupla times. Or at least start orderin’ pizza from somewhere else.”
“But that’s so mean!” said Kagome in an aghast voice. “Kouga is actually a nice guy! When I first moved in here, he told me where all the good coffee places were. Besides, his pizza shop is in the bottom of the building, I’m not going to order from anywhere else!” She hung her towel over the back of the sofa, now her hair was as dry as it was going to get. “He means well, he just comes on a little strong sometimes. And I’m not going to let you punch anyone!” Inuyasha rolled his eyes.
“Whoops Kittycat, your small town roots are showin’ again.”
“Hey! I don’t want to hurt his feelings, and that’s because I’m a nice person, not because of where I grew up!” she said, punching him as hard as she could on his bicep. Inuyasha barely moved, but looked at her pointedly.
“Nice, huh?” She crossed her arms and huffed at him and he sniggered. “What’s the current population of Wrightwood Kagome? I bet it ain’t even 5000, am I right?” He grinned at her when she rolled her eyes. “That’s what I thought.”
“I did live in San Diego for six months before I moved here”, she pointed out primly, reaching for a garlic knot. Inuyasha snorted, then folded his slice of pepperoni pizza in half and took a huge bite.
“Ah, that hits the spot”, he said indistinctly around his mouthful. “He may be a stinky wolf bastard, but he knows how to make a good pizza.” He wound a piece of stretched out mozzarella around his finger and slurped it into his mouth.
“Charming.”
“Hey, I’m all charm.” Kagome rolled her eyes, reaching for her own slice, then let her hand drop with a sigh.
Inuyasha glanced up, trying to read her scent. She was a lot calmer now, after her shower. A good thing too. For some reason, Kagome feeling upset made him twitchy, like he needed to do something to fix whatever had caused it. He supposed it was her size and personality. She was so little and so nice – it was no wonder he felt protective of her.
The four of them had settled into a regular routine in the three months she’d been living with Sango. Beer and chili dogs on Friday nights. Occasional trivia nights, with a stroll to the best pretzel cart in Queens on the way home. Regular card games at Miroku’s. She’d fit into their little friendship group like she’d always been there. And with Sango and Miroku’s current ‘friends with benefits’ arrangement, he and Kagome were left to hang out together more often than not, which was fine by him. At least he wasn’t playing third wheel anymore.
She was cute and funny, easy on the eye. Kind, with an infectious smile and bright blue eyes. But surprisingly, also kinda sarcastic, which made him laugh. And she’d stood up for him when someone had said something with a racist undertone while they were out at the pub. He’d grown a thick skin over the years, and was so used to tuning it out, he’d hardly even noticed it. But Kagome had, and she was a sight to behold. A tiny spitting ball of fury. He’d had to carry her bodily out of the bar, needing to remove her from the situation before her comments started an all out brawl.
“Inuyasha? Um, thanks again for walking home with me tonight”, she said softly. “You really didn’t have to.”
“Sure I did”, he answered, bumping against her shoulder. “If some creepy bastard’s following you, calling me is the first thing you should do.”
“So I should always call you? Not Miroku?” she teased.
“What’s he gonna do? Put the moves on them by flooring them with his boyish charm? Flirt them into submission?”. Kagome giggled, then sighed.
“I don’t know that he was following me, really. But he kept up with me, even when I walked faster, and I just got that feeling, y’know? That something bad was going to happen.”
Inuyasha nodded. Her voice on the other end of the phone as he’d answered had been a dead give away.
He hadn’t been expecting to hear from her tonight – Sango was visiting her brother and was away for the weekend, and Kagome had been working late nights all week, so she’d texted him and Miroku and cancelled their usual Friday night drinks. Miroku had opted out also, and he’d been sitting on his sofa with a beer, watching Netflix, and scrolling through his Facebook feed, phone in his hand. And then she’d called.
“Hey Inuyasha?” There was an edge to her voice he didn’t like. She sounded panicked.
“Kagome? What’s up?”
She was panting a little now, and he could hear her hurried footsteps on the pavement, and the jingling of keys, which meant she was probably carrying them in her hand. Kagome never did that, because she had them on a long lanyard secured to the buckle on her bag strap so she could always find them easily. He knew from Sango that was something girls were taught to do if they were feeling threatened.
“Sorry, I’m going to be a little late!” He sat up straight on the sofa, ears alert as he looked around for his wallet and keys, then shoved them in his pockets. Something was definitely up.
“Is everything okay? You said you were goin’ straight home tonight after work.”
“Yeah, I got held up at the office, and then missed my train. But I’m almost at Veteran’s Park, the one near Jackson Mill Road, so I should be there pretty soon.”
“Kagome… is someone followin’ you?”
“Uh huh!” He could tell she was aiming for a bright happy tone, but was failing miserably. Shit. The thought of anyone mugging her or worse made his gut twist.
“Keep talkin’ to me”, he said firmly, shrugging on his jacket and shoving his feet into his work boots. “I’ll be right there. Keep walkin’ and stay under the streetlights okay? Try and move towards people if you can. I’ll find you.”
“Sure thing! I’m really looking forward to seeing you!”
“I’m headin’ out the door, I should be there five minutes, tops.”
He’d sprinted, keeping his mobile on speaker so he could hear her talking aimlessly about random stuff, the tone of her voice getting more and more nervous. He caused a few angry yells as he dashed past people, but he didn’t care. Kagome was his friend, and she needed him. He slowed his pace to a slow jog as he rounded the corner to the park, easily locating her by scent. She was terrified. He’d walked straight up to her and embraced her in a tight hug. He could hear her heart hammering in her chest, her hands shaking as she wrapped them around his waist.
“Inuyasha…”
Inuyasha could smell the bastard, loitering in the background, the stink of the other man’s lust making him want to hurl. He glared in the direction the scent was coming from, pushing back a snarl. He could go after him, confront him, but he didn’t want to scare Kagome any more than she already was, so he put his arm around her shoulders, leading her away. But he knew that guy's scent now. And if they should happen to cross paths again, it wouldn’t be his fault if the fucker tripped and fell directly into his fist.
“Nice to see you Kittycat. Thanks for callin’ me to tell me you were going to be late. I appreciate it.”
She’d pressed herself into his side, still shaking, and he’d done everything he could to soothe her during the ten minute walk back to her apartment. Making jokes, asking about her work, inviting himself to dinner, because he could tell she was still feeling nervous. He was so glad that she’d called him, and more than a little flattered.
“I’ll always come when you call. What are friends for right? Besides, you bought me pizza. That’s more than enough payment for jogging a coupla blocks and walking back to your place.”
“You probably think I’m ridiculous”, she sighed. “He probably wasn’t following me at all. I think it’s just because it was so much later than I usually walk back from the station, and it’s the first night I’ve been here alone, with Sango visiting her family.”
Inuyasha thought for a moment about confirming her suspicion that she was being followed. But he didn’t want to frighten her even more. Part of Kagome’s charm was her openness, her excitement about finally living her dream here in NYC. He didn’t want to spoil that for her. But unfortunately, part of living in a city was learning to move about it safely, and being more aware of your surroundings. Because there were always random assholes who wanted to take what you had. He could help her with that.
“If you’re ever late again like that, call me. I’ll be happy to walk with you from the station, even if I’m workin’. Myouga wouldn’t care if I had to leave the shop for a while to walk with you – he thinks the sun shines out of your cute little ass. And ya know, if you’re still feeling worried, I can sleep here on the couch.”
“Inuyasha, I can’t ask you to do that!” Kagome said, glancing down at his long legs and then the length of the sofa, one Sango had purchased from Ikea. “You’re way too tall, your back would be wrecked by morning. I will be fine, I promise!”
He studied her closely. Her words said she was fine, but her scent, and her expression, said she wanted him to stay. He could do that for her. It wasn’t like he had any other plans on a Friday night. Besides, if he left now, he’d just be worried about her, wondering if she was sleeping or not.
He made a show of stretching himself out, twisting around to throw his legs up on the sofa and crossing his ankles in her lap, then reached for another piece of pizza.
“Ooh, yeah, this sofa is pretty comfy. I don’t think I could be bothered to go home now. Besides, you can make me breakfast. I happen to know you’ve got bacon in the freezer.”
Kagome sighed. “You’re still eating dinner and you’re already thinking about breakfast?”
“Bacon is a serious business Kagome.”
Kagome leaned forward over his legs to grab herself a slice of pizza, which flopped downwards, losing a good portion of the topping as it slid off onto the cardboard box below it. He laughed at the pout on her face.
“Okay, you should know this if you’re gonna be a full time resident of NYC. You gotta fold your pizza. Like this, see?” he said, reaching for another slice for himself and folding it in half lengthwise. He took a big bite. “You get twice as much in a mouthful, and the topping don’t slide off.”
“You should open your mouth a little more when you chew dog boy, I didn’t get to see everything in there that time.”
“You think you’re funny don’tcha?” he smiled. The nervousness in her had settled, and she was back to her normal self. Everything was okay now.
“Yeah, I do actually.” She patted him on his ankle absentmindedly as she reached for another garlic knot. “You’re a good friend Inu.”
“Right back atcha, Kittycat.”

Got it Bad (Part 1)
Summary: After weeks of not seeing each other, you and your best friend, Bucky, are finally reunited. (i suck at summaries I am so sorry lolol)
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader
Word Count: approx. 1,000
Warnings: bad writing, angst (?)
A/N: this is the first thing I’ve written in like 2 years. constructive criticism and feedback are greatly appreciated. let me know if you guys want a part 2 or if you’d like to be added to my tag list!!
You were sitting quietly in the corner of your favorite coffee shop, reading your favorite book. You had finally had time to yourself after having two full weeks of missions. You’d been going to this cafe since you were a little girl. It’s familiarity gave you a sense of comfort. You and your closest friend, Bucky, had agreed to meet here at 5:00pm sharp. It was 6:15.
Just as you were about to take out your phone and shoot him a text, you heard the bell hanging over the door ring signalling that someone had entered the shop. You glanced up and the person you had been waiting for finally arrived.
“You’re late.” You said, standing up to greet your friend. You crossed your arms over your chest and shifted your weight to one foot. Bucky saw past your angry façade and stepped forward to give you a tight hug. This is the first time you had seen him in a while since he was sent to London on a separate mission.
“How’ve you been, doll? It’s been almost a month since we’ve talked face to face.” He sat down looking through the menu placed in front of him. You took this time to admire his features. You had always thought Bucky was incredibly handsome. The moment Steve introduced you to him, you were mesmerized by his steel blue eyes and his perfect, dark hair. You never voiced your opinion, though. It would be a bit inappropriate seeing as you worked together and you didn’t want to jeopardize your friendship. You didn’t realize you were staring until Bucky spoke up again.
“Are you okay, Y/N?” He said with concern written all over his face. You quickly shook out of your daze before replying. “Yeah, I was just… thinking.”
“About what?” He put the menu down and gave you his full attention. You were caught off guard by his question and had to make up an answer on the fly.
“I was thinking about how much I missed my best friend.” You said giving him a cheesy smile. He just chuckled and shook his head. “I missed you too, doll. I was thinking, since we haven’t hung out in a while, why don’t we we visit the carnival, tomorrow? It’s in town for one more week and it’ll give us some time to catch up.” He asked with a hopeful look on his face.
You gave him a look of approval. “You’ve got yourself a deal, Barnes.” He just smiled excitedly at you.
While Bucky was ordering his beverage, you decided to go to the restroom to freshen up. While you were washing your hands, one idea kept replaying in your mind. Maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to pursue a relationship with Bucky. You both already knew so much about each other so you wouldn’t have to go through that awkward “getting to know you” phase. You got along great. You were two peas in a pod. All you had to do was see if Bucky possessed any romantic feelings toward you and everything would fall into place.
You quickly dried your hands and exited the restroom. You were about to go back to your booth, when you saw the shop manager, Margot, sitting in your spot. You and Margot were good friends seeing as you were a frequent customer. She was a nice girl. She and Bucky were laughing and seemed to be having a good time. You didn’t want to interrupt so you quietly walked over to the table to grab your coffee so you could wait for Bucky. Unfortunately, you were unable to slip away unnoticed.
“Oh, Y/N! How are you? I didn’t even see you come in.” Margot smiled at you with her perfectly straight teeth. She was one of the prettiest girls you had ever seen in your life. She was also one of the kindest. When she wasn’t busy running the coffee shop, she was busy donating to local homeless shelters or reading to underprivileged kids.
“Hello, Margot. It’s great to see you, but I’ve got to get going. Buck, I’ll be waiting outside. Have a good night, Margot”
Bucky didn’t acknowledge you but you knew he heard you. You stood right beside the welcome sign by the door. You played multiple games on your phone to try to help pass the time. You even resorted to digging through your purse to throw out all of your old receipts. By the time Bucky finally exited the shop, your bag was about a half pound lighter.
“Took you long enough.” You said jokingly to your friend. He let out a light laugh. “I’m sorry, Y/N. We were in the middle of a hilarious story about her little brother getting a fishbowl stuck on his head. I didn’t realize the time.”
“Yeah, yeah. Apology accepted. Let’s just head back to the tower.”
You were in your sleeping quarters getting ready. Tonight was the night that you and Bucky agreed to go to the carnival. Your hair was styled to your liking and your makeup was perfect. You wore a stylish pair of distressed boyfriend jeans with a cute halter top and comfortable shoes. You looked as if you tried, but not too hard. Once you were satisfied with your look, you made your way down the hall to Bucky’s room. You gently knocked on his door and waited for permission to enter. A couple seconds later. The door flew open to reveal Bucky. He wore a neatly pressed suit jacket, shirt, and black dress pants. To top it off, he donned Italian leather loafers. Confusion was written all over your face.
“Um, Buck… don’t you think you’re just a tad bit overdressed for the carnival?” Just as the sentence left my lips, his eyes widened in shock.
“Oh my gosh, Y/N. I am so sorry. I completely forgot that we were supposed to go to the carnival tonight. Margot called and invited me to the theatre tonight.”
Ouch, that stung. You thought to yourself. You felt your heart break just a little bit. You couldn’t help but feel disappointed. Two hours of getting ready were wasted and now you had nowhere to go.
“No. It’s okay, Buck. Go out and have fun. I’ll be fine.” You said, trying to avoid eye contact in fear that your eyes would reveal your true emotions. He placed his hands on your shoulders. “Are you sure? I could always try to get you a ticket to the show.”
“I’d rather not be the third wheel. I promise I’ll be okay. Enjoy your night.” You said, offering a small smile. He gave you a quick hug before walking towards the exit. “You’re the best Y/N. I’ll make this up to you, I swear. Bye doll.” And then the door shut behind him.
It was that exact moment that you realized something. Bucky Barnes was actually going on a date. With a girl that wasn’t you. You weren’t completely sure how that made you feel. But, you did know one thing.
You had officially been placed in the friendzone.

Leningrad- Chapter 1
Life moves on and so should we. -Spencer Johnson
The pavement slipped by beneath his feet as he trudged towards the snow-dusted red awning on the busy New York street. Blaring snaps of hip-hop music faded in and out as cars pushed through the slush and mud coating the roads. It was bitterly, bitingly, cold but he was only marginally aware of the numb feeling creeping from the tip of his nose to the rest of his face until he turned under the awning and a stifling heat rushed through him.
Inside, the humidity that restaurants get when they're overcrowded during the winter engulfed the newcomer but he didn't make any moves to remove his winter clothes. After glancing towards the right corner of the room he pulled his scarf tighter around his face and hunched down in his coat, as if he was preparing to once more step out into the wind. Instead, he started moving purposefully through the restaurant, towards the lighted signs proclaiming the entrances to the restrooms and the kitchens, respectively.
As he passed the doors to the kitchen and turned down the hall to the men's room he observed that the cash station for the wait staff was currently occupied by two young women in ill-fitting white collared shirts. They were not who he was looking for. He ducked into the bathroom, checked that he was alone, and waited.
Through the crack between the door hinge and its frame he could hear the two waitresses complaining about the lack of tips their tables had been getting that day. He peered through the infinitesimal gap and saw them print their receipts and begin to retreat back towards the main dining room. Then, as he had hoped, he heard a faint greeting as they passed another waitress on her way to the cash station.
"Hi Anya."
"Hey guys."
Another waitress in the same unflattering uniform approached the cash station and began to enter the necessary information to run the customer's credit card. The man quietly exited the restroom and reached into his large fur-lined overcoat, pulling a small hand gun from an inside pocket. Angling his body so his back faced the entrance to the hall, he carefully placed the gun against the girl's waist.
"Anya," he spoke in a low, calmly controlled voice. "Will you please walk with me to that fire exit?”

“Oh, Penelope, this is exactly what we needed. Thank you,” Kate sighed as she snuggled down into her seaweed wrap.
“Of course! My crime fighting beauties deserve their beauty rest. And I really needed some tension released.”
“Fight with Sam?” JJ asked sympathetically, taking a sip of her white wine.
“No, but it might turn into one soon if he doesn’t learn a few more facts about the female anatomy.” Penelope huffed.
“Ooh, that bad?” JJ asked.
“I don’t think I’m asking for anything out of the realm of possibility! Google can tell him plenty if he bothers to look.”
“And have you tried telling him any of these tips yourself?” Kate laughed.
“Not in… so many words,” Penelope’s face noticeably reddened in acknowledgement of her embarrassment. “But he seemed so confident going into…” she waved her hands randomly in front of her to fill in the words she didn’t want to say. “I don’t want to make him question everything else about his life he thinks he’s good at!” The girls giggled at Penelope’s flustered explanation.
“Pen, if you don’t want to die of sexual frustration you’re gonna have to tell him. I would think you taking charge wouldn’t be too out of the ordinary for him.” JJ wiggled her eyebrows at Penelope, taking another long drink of her wine. Penelope huffed in amusement.
“I had to have the same conversation with Chris when we started dating. He was only briefly mortified before he applied himself very enthusiastically to righting that wrong.” Kate shared, grabbing her own wine. “Totally worth it.”
The girls all giggled and continued to chat and sip at their drinks as they enjoyed the much needed relaxation, cocooned in their respective body treatment wraps. The bubbly atmosphere popped when three text tones rang out in near concurrence.
“Well, this was fun while it lasted,” JJ sighed.
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Spencer walked into the conference room with his large mug of coffee and plopped himself into the swivel chair at the table, spinning a complete three-sixty before he settled his drink next to the file in front of him, pushing his curly hair back out of his eyes.
"Reid, man, you have got to get a haircut," Morgan laughed.
"Really?" Reid self-consciously ran his hands through his, admittedly unruly, hair again. "I kind of liked it like this…" His voice trailed off as he anxiously thought back to the last time he'd had an awful haircut and had caught some of the students at the academy laughing about it as he passed them on his way up to the lectern. No one had done that lately, he thought maybe he had rectified the situation.
"Don't listen to him Spence," JJ cut in. "I think it looks good like this."
"Seriously JJ?" Morgan scoffed good-naturedly. His ribbing tone made it obvious he wasn't taking the whole situation too seriously, he just wanted to wind Reid up.
"Oh yeah! Skinny guy, curly hair, forgot to shave; that look's hot right now." JJ and the team cracked up as Spencer blushed but also looked shyly pleased with himself.
"You said it sister," Garcia piped up as she hurried into the conference room with her unicorn mug and her personal clicking device. "Unfortunately, I am here to give you a look at something much less pretty. We have a missing girl."
Garcia positioned herself by the screen and brought up two photos of young, blue-eyed, mousy haired girls. They were severely unattractive license photos but Spencer could tell the girls would have been pretty under normal circumstances. The next pictures Garcia brought up were even more unattractive.
"Three weeks ago in the lovely but crime filled city of New York," Garcia started, "our girl on the left, Lina Mills, was found in her apartment, shot once execution-style in the back of the head. Police connected her murder to that of our first victim, Katerina Russo. She was found in her apartment about six months ago, same thing one shot to the back of the head." Garcia grimaced and quickly looked away from the very high definition photos of the girls staring into space with blood running down into their eyes.
Morgan was flicking through more of the crime scene pictures on his tablet while she was talking. "These girls weren't killed in their apartments, there's not enough blood."
"You're right," Rossi mused, "he has to have a secondary location where he kills them. But why bring them back to their own apartments? That seems unnecessarily risky."
"It's very risky," Reid added, "It looks like these girls were missing for at least a week before they were killed according to the police reports. There would have been enhanced surveillance around their homes but he still got their bodies back in without anyone stopping him.”
“Both girls also show evidence of torture and starvation according to the ME reports. That must be why he’s keeping them so long. It’s about the time he spends torturing them, not how he kills them.” Kate volunteered.
"Was there any evidence of sexual assault?" JJ asked mutedly as she scanned through the reports on her own tablet.
"No there wasn’t," Hotch answered as he strode into the room, simultaneously hanging up his cell phone. "I just got off with the NYPD confirming our invite in. They called us about this girl," he pointed at the screen as Garcia brought up a third picture of a young, pretty girl with light brown hair and blue eyes, just like the previous victims.
"Her name is Anya Hamlin, she's 18, just started at NYU. Her boss reported her missing when she disappeared half way through her waitressing shift this afternoon."
"How do they know this girl was taken by the same unsub?" Morgan put in.
"Anya and the last victim, Lina, took a few classes together at NYU. She was one of the girls they interviewed when Lina went missing.” Hotch grimaced.
"Okay so this guys is definitely working on a specific target list then, going after girls in the same group," Rossi spoke up. "Did they have any connection to the first victim?"
Garcia answered, "not that NYPD has found but I'm digging into it right now sir."
"Alright, well, keep us updated on the plane Garcia. Wheels up in 20 everyone.”

Nicky/Ovi ficlet based on this
Nicklas Backstrom is the region’s go-to patissier for all your wedding cake needs, but only if you know where to look. Their little Swedish bakery café is nestled in a very suburban-y, non-bougie part of town, but Nicky isn’t short of celebrities sneaking into his shop for consultations (because Nicky did that now—wedding cake consultations, it’s a nightmare). They’re elegant, delicate, just on the right side of not too sweet, unique, and most of all, they’re coveted. Which also meant that Nicky’s time is very expensive. He used to like making wedding cakes, he really did, but a man can only stand to make so many wedding cakes before he starts to get bitter about the dating space and how it feels like everyone in the universe is getting married and popping out babies (no gender reveal cakes; Nicky refuses, especially after this elderly Southern grandmother requested a cake must incorporate the imagery of a fondant-made gun— “Guns or Glitter? I just kept thinking about it in the car,” she’d said proudly, like the idea had come to her in a dream. “Wouldn’t that be so adorable?” “No,” Nicky had said. “It’s tacky and strange. Please leave my shop or order something else.”) when Nicky is frosting cake after cake after endless cake.
“Maybe it’s your attitude, you ever think about that?” Patric Hornqvist—who insists that he goes by ‘Horny,’ even when Nicky tells him that it’s freaking out customers—says. “And the brows. Angry all the time. Like you want to shove someone’s remains into a cake. It’s just your entire face, really.”
“This is my normal face,” Nicky says. “Can’t you go bother Carl?”
“Hags is at a hockey game with his boyfriend,” Horny singsongs. “The Canadian.”
“Isn’t Phil American?”
“I don’t know,” Horny says thoughtfully.
The Caps are playing the Pens today, Nicky knows, because Carl begged him to take over his evening shift so he can surprise his boyfriend with hockey tickets—they’re both die-hard Pens fans, while Nicky just shrugged like he didn’t care either way. He’s fonder of Ovechkin, but it’s a dangerous thing for a man to say that in Pittsburgh. Whatever.
To spite Carl, because he’s left him alone with Horny for nearly the entire day (Carl literally always takes Horny out on his dates—Horny loves third-wheeling for them), he tweets at him during his break, over a cup of coffee. Nicky @ NicklasB19 @C_Hags why can’t I find a guy like this???? 😩 😩 😩 😩 😩 Attached is a photo of Ovi looking…well…like a cross between a James Bond-ish model and the villain from a James Bond movie. It’s a good photo though, and Nicky wouldn’t hesitate to climb him if given the opportunity.
“Ovechkin looks like my grandpa but not blond,” Horny says, craning his neck to look over Nicky’s shoulder. “And maybe more teeth but that’s not saying much.”
“Leave me alone.”
About three hours later, there’s a reply from an account he doesn’t recognize. The icon is a photo of Ovi posing in a celly, triumphant, but it’s an unverified account. A fan twitter, most likely.
Sasha @ lucky8sasha – replying to @NicklasB19 hey Nicky @ NicklasB19 – replying to @lucky8sasha no
Sasha @ lucky8sasha – replying to @NicklasB19 im literally the guy in the pic Right. Of course he is. Nicky sets down his phone. Then it buzzes again.
DM from @lucky8sasha u make cake? In cute café with funy name?
Nicky’s bio said ‘baker,’ but then he remembered that a few months ago he posted a photo of Carl, Horny, and himself standing in front of Swede and Savory (photo courtesy of Phil). This Sasha guy is stalking his twitter.
Nicky: What do you want Sasha: a donut mostly. Lots of chocolate on top. Sasha: maybe meet u)))) u very beautiful Nicky: sorry I don’t date 14 year old boys who run fansites Sasha takes a while to respond. Then:
Sasha: I come to u before game? U busy? Nicky: I will throw a donut at you if you come within 10 feet of me Sasha: (((((( Sasha: im not 14. Im 31
Nicky considers this. Then Hags yells at him front inside the kitchen to come help, and Nicky forgets about Sasha the 14 year old.
-
Nicky’s putting new cupcakes into the display case when someone clears their throat.
“How can I help—” He trails off. “—you.”
“You not throw donut yet,” Alexander Ovechkin says, delighted.
“I…” Where did all the oxygen go? “I’m—is this a prank? Did Hags put you up to this?”
“Who’s Hags?” Ovi looks genuinely confused. It shouldn’t be as adorable as it is.
“There’s no—” He cranes his neck behind Ovi, squinting. “No cameras or—”
“Nope, just me,” Ovi says. “I’m not lie when I say I want donut. Sneak out before practice.”
Nicky blinks, then rings him up. Horny also chose then to come out from the kitchen, whisking away at a blend of lemon cream.
“Hey, Nicky, can you take over for a sec—oh my God.” Horny’s mouth drops open, but he recomposes himself quickly. “It’s a 50% extra charge for you in this establishment,” he says.
Ovi laughs, taking the donut from Nicky’s hands. “I leave shitty Yelp review then.”
“Shut up, no it’s not,” Nicky says, passing Ovi a pen and his receipt. “Sign, please.”
“Your name really Nicky?” Ovi asks, beaming. “Pretty name.”
“It’s a name,” Nicky says, trying to school his expression and praying that he doesn’t look as red as his cheeks feel. “Thanks.”
“You watch my game tonight, I score for you,” Ovi says. “For Nicky, who save me with donut. Lucky donut.”
Nicky grins. “Get out of here.”
Ovi’s returning smile is gap-toothed and it’s not charming, Nicky, it’s not. He repeats again, “You watch game.”
“I will,” Nicky says.
As Ovi leaves, Nicky finally looks down at the receipt, and noticed that Ovi left an $80 tip for a two dollar donut. "Wait, what the—Ovi—”
But Ovi had already darted out of the store.
“He left his fucking phone number, too,” Horny comments, studying the receipt. “Looks like we all got what we wanted today.”
“Shut up, Patric.”
-
(“Ovi, I noticed you were pointing at the cameras after you scored that phenomenal goal. Care to share what that was about?”
“Just having great day. Had donut before game. Got a text for a date.”
“A date—”
“No more questions.”)
#dumb nicky/ovi ficlet#its SILLY but i am also sad and sappy#probbaly ooc but hey its rpf#swede and savory was completely honeycombhenry's idea

MEME / ACCEPTING.
poppy and ben:
her legs on his lap while she’s coaching him in call of duty.
them looking at each other if they’re in the hall at the same time. that awkward air that encapsulates the doorstep of the two apartments if they’re not talking at that point in time.
quadruple texts and emojis. read receipts.
“fuck you then, bye.” [ two minutes later ] “hey,”
people on poppy’s social media thinking they’re dating before they even actually are. they announce it, people every where are confused because, “i thought ... you already ... were ... ?”
poppy and ben and joey:
fanart on the refrigerator.
selfies of the three of them, taken by ben. initially supposed to be him in the mirror, but poppy inserts herself under his arm, and joey comes up behind him with a hand on his back, their smile lighting up the space above ben’s shoulder.
poppy and joey pouting when ben goes back to his own apartment.
joey inserting themselves into poppy and ben’s relationship without feeling like a third wheel.
ben and poppy having to explain a lot of things to joey and subsequently spending the next twenty or so minutes with rapid fire questions on that same subject.

Summary
1. Trade In Your Cell Phone and Put $475 in Your Pocket
Buyback Boss is who I continue to use whenever we upgrade to a new phone because they guarantee the most money for your phone and they send same-day payments via check or PayPal.
If you have an old phone in a drawer somewhere, why not sell it today and get paid ASAP? Think of that old phone as cash sitting in your drawer that you need right now.
You can also downgrade to last year’s model (often getting the phone for a few dollars with a new contract) and sell your current phone for up to $475. Here’s a screenshot I snapped of the latest offer I received on my current used phone (iPhone X) in good condition.
2. Get Money Sent to Your PayPal For Your Opinion
Survey Junkie is a great place to start because cash can be deposited into your PayPal account, or you can get paid out via Amazon or Target gift cards for simply giving you opinion online.
We also have a full list of all different types of survey companies who are looking to pay people for their opinions on different products and brands. You can see the full list of the top survey companies here.
Our Top Pick: Survey Junkie has been around since 2005 and is the most trusted in the survey industry with a Trustpilot Rating of 4.4/5.
You can start making money today by checking out Survey Junkie here.
3. Deliver Food, Drinks and Groceries to People
Have you heard of Postmates?
Postmates is a service where people can order food, drinks and groceries and have them available for delivery or pickup. The people who provide that service and get paid, are people just like yourself.
Postmates states that experienced couriers can earn up to $25 an hour and work on their own hours.
However, if you only want to deliver groceries to people, then you should also sign up for Instacart.
Instacart pays people quickly to deliver groceries from grocery store to their clients doorstep. Currently, people working with Instacart are making anywhere from $50 – $1,000 per month as a side hustle.
4. Become an Uber Driver
Uber is a great option if you have a car and like interacting with people. There are two additional reasons to consider driving for Uber:
Flexible hours
Weekly pay
Signup incentive for new drivers
Another reason to consider Uber is for their schedule flexibility; you drive when you have time and aren’t beholden to a specific shift or having to be available at least X hours a week.
You can find more information here to determine if driving with Uber is right for you.
5. Deliver for Uber Eats
Uber Eats allows you earn on your own schedule by delivering food from restaurants to people.
The best thing about Uber Eats is you get to choose your wheels based on the city you live in. Depending on your city, you can deliver for Uber Eats via your car, bike or scooter. Just turn on the app in the morning before work, when you get home, or whenever you have some extra time to make money on your terms.
Also, the driver qualifications are less stringent for Uber Eats. In case you don’t meet the age and vehicle requirements to be a full-fledged Uber driver, you can be an Uber Eats driver until then.
6. Become an Airbnb Host
Become and Airbnb Host and you can start making really good income each month. There are many of benefits to being a homeowner, including the option to rent out your unused rooms for cash. But, by becoming an Airbnb host, travelers stay in your spare bedroom, basement, or second house.
Real estate is one time-tested approach to earning passive income and Airbnb can be less stressful than being a full-time landlord or trying to fix and flip houses for a profit. And, you get to interact with visitors coming from all corners of the world!
7. Get Paid to Play Games
Yes, you can actually get paid to play games.
Mistplay is one of the very best places to get started.
The reason is online game creators need to have their games tested by real people before they launch it out to the market.
For testing out their games on you mobile device, apps like Mistplay will pay via credits. These credits can then be cashed out in the form of different gift cards, including Visa or Amazon gift cards.
We also put together a full list of places that will pay you to play games here.
8. Save Money and Make Money with the Honey App
The Honey App will search every online coupon for you and apply the best promo code at your checkout for free. This is the first way to save money.
Also, for every 2 people you refer to Honey, they will pay you $10 in the form of popular gift cards like Amazon, Walmart and Target.
By reducing how much you spend, you won’t have to earn as much money from these side hustles. Honey makes it easy to save money when you shop online by automatically applying every known discount code to your order when you checkout.
If you shop at Amazon, Honey also compares the prices of third-party sellers to the current Amazon price to quickly spot the lowest price so you pay less for the exact same product.
With no additional effort, Honey saves you money on products you are going to purchase regardless. Now, make sure you put your savings to good use!
Read the Honey App review to discover Peach’s triple savings online shopping trick.
9. Complete Mini-Online Tasks
Swagbucks is the best place to start when for getting paid to complete tasks such as reading emails, surfing the web, playing games, shopping online and using mobile apps to name a few.
BONUS: One thing I really like about Swagbucks is the option to donate to one of the many charities they work with.
Our Top Pick: The most widely known company is Swagbucks, with a Trust Pilot Rating of 4.3/5..
With Swagbucks, you earn swagbucks that can be redeemed for cash via your PayPal or through gift cards to places like Walmart, Amazon, Express, or even Bass Pro Shops.
10. Trim Automatically Gets Rid of Your “Gray Charges”
Ask Trim makes it easy to “work smarter and not harder.” For free, Trim monitors your spending, account balances, and can even reduce your monthly bill amount in the following categories:
Cable, cell phone, and internet
Car insurance
Unwanted subscriptions
With a single text message or Facebook Messenger request, Trim works on your behalf to find discounts on your current monthly bills or cancel the services–streaming plans including Hulu and Spotify, insurance, and gym membership– you no longer use but are still paying for.
You will realize the savings the next time you get ready to pay your bills and realize there’s more money in your bank account than usual; and you never lifted a finger.
Read our full Trim Review to learn about all of Trim’s benefits to save you money.
11. Get a quick $10 with Ebates (now called Rakuten)
Ebates sends you cash via PayPal for shopping online or in stories at places you already normally shop.
Let’s be clear, unnecessary shopping is one of the last activities you need to do if you need to get money fast, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be a smart shopper for those unavoidable purchases. My wife and I shop with Ebates and get up to 40% cash back on nearly every online purchase.
Ebates cashback arrives once a quarter via PayPal or mailed check and you can get a bonus by referring your friends to shop with Ebates too. Using Ebates is like getting paid to shop.
Also, you can get a free $10 when you create an account with eBates today.
12. Become a TaskRabbit
There are people who need simple tasks completed but simply don’t have the time. Whether it’s putting together furniture from iKea, delivering a dresser across town, or trimming some overgrown bushes in the backyard – people will hire you.
Here are the top three places to find work using your phone:
TaskRabbit
OfferUp
Facebook Marketplace
Simply create a bio about yourself and then start looking for the task requests to pour in. I personally can tell you I utilize one of these three apps a week to find someone to do tasks for me!
13. Freelance Online with Fiverr
Freelancing online with Fiverr is another great way to make money online. With Fiverr, you use your talents online without performing manual labor. Here are some of the possible gigs you can perform:
Writing blog posts
Graphic design
Website design
Creating YouTube videos
Translation
Proofreading
Voice Over
Jingles, sound effects, and songs
Similar to Fiverr, Upwork is another great platform for aspiring freelancers.
I have been freelancing online for the past two years and it’s been an excellent source of supplemental income because you can truly work from anywhere in the world with an internet connection and get paid.
14. Sell Locally on Craigslist
Bulky items aren’t cost-effective to sell online because they cost too much to ship. When that’s the case, sell locally with Craigslist or another app to sell locally. We periodically sell our unwanted items during the year and pocket 100% profit because it’s free to sell on these apps.
Beyond Craigslist, there are also dozens of other similar websites where you can sell your stuff locally as well.
15. Scan Grocery Receipts and Get $10
Earlier we told you ways to make money delivering through places like Postmates, Instacart and Uber Eats. However, there is still other money to be made by simply scanning grocery receipts.
Scanning grocery receipts for money is a real thing and there are over 20 apps that allow you to get started. While some are better than others, we recommend starting with the most popular receipts scanning app, Ibotta.
Our Top Pick: We like Ibotta because you can redeem digital offers plus your regular coupons for many food items at most supermarkets and even discount stores like Walmart and Target, and you also get a $10 sign-up bonus. When your rewards balance reaches $20, you can request PayPal payment or a gift card.
16. Picking Up Dog Poop
You can also make money picking up dog poop when you don’t have the time to walk dogs or pet sit. Why? Because it only takes a few minutes to clean up a backyard compared to keeping a pet for several hours.
One man operates a full-time business picking up dog poop for a premium in the Phoenix area. You can scroll down to #70 on this side hustle list to see a video of how he turned dog poop into a full-time income.
17. Cancel Your Cable TV Subscription
The average household cable TV bill is over $120 a month and most people only watch 20 of the 100s of channels to choose from. We dumped our cable years ago and use services like Hulu for our favorite shows with SlingTV for a total of $26/month (and no contracts).
By cutting the cord, you instantly save $100 a month on cable TV by streaming live and on-demand programming over your high-speed internet. Sling TV can be watch with any flat screen TV, computer, or mobile device.
BONUS: If you’re a fan of the 90’s TGIF shows like me, Hulu now offers Full House, Family Matters, Step by Step, Perfect Strangers and Hangin with Mr. Cooper.
18. Switch to a Health Sharing Plan
You may not realize it, but health insurance is one of the largest monthly expenses. Switching to an affordable health sharing plan saves my family 75% in health insurance premiums compared to traditional health insurance. Honestly, it’s probably one of the best financial moves we made when I became self-employed.
Our Top Pick: There are many great health sharing options, but our favorite is Medi-Share because of the affordability AND their own MDLive program: a FREE add on that gives you 24/7 access to a doctor visit via your smartphone, which saves you time and money on co-pays!
19. Refinance Your Debt
High interest rates on unsecured debt like credit cards will cause you to pay thousands of dollars more than the original amount borrowed.
Our Top Pick: Credible is the company we recommend because they tell you right away what your new rates will be. Unlike some other personal loan companies, Credible does not have any origination or application fees, and they make it simple to get started with only one form to fill out which should only take about 2 minutes. They also have a Trustpilot Rating of 9.5/10.
Instead of paying 15% – 24% interest rates on your credit cards, you may be able to lower your interest rate down to 4.99%!
Not a bad way to spend 2 minutes at all if it can save you thousands of dollars in interest to the bank.
20. Rent Out Your Car
If you don’t drive your car every day or have the time to be an Uber driver, you can make some extra cash by renting your car on Turo. You can earn approximately $541 a month ($6,501 a year) when your car is worth $20,000 and it’s borrowed 15 days a month. This income can easily cover your monthly insurance premium and car payment.
Considering most cars are depreciating assets that lose value every day and cost money to maintain, renting your car on Turo is one of the very few ways your car can actually make money for you.
You will receive payment within five days after a rental period ends.
21. Sell Unwanted Gift Cards
Sometimes, you don’t have to work to make money because you already have it in unwanted gift cards. Instead of letting your gift cards collect dust, sell them on Gift Card Granny.
You can sell your unused and partially used gift cards quickly with three different selling options:
Sell It Now
Name Your Price
Trade In
Gift Card Granny finds the best price on the top gift card marketplaces and you get paid almost instantly when a sale is made.
I have sold several gift cards online almost always within 24 hours of posting and payment is sent via PayPal within three business days. Selling gift cards is one of the quickest ways to get money fast because of the quick turnaround.
22. Sell Unused Clothing
As your fashion tastes change or your children grow older, you might find yourself with a closet full of clothes you’ll never wear again. While you can sell them at a yard sale or local consignment shop, you might also consider selling online at thredUP for men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing.
For designer clothing you wish to keep but don’t plan to wear in the near future, Rent the Runway lets you rent your high-end articles for up to one month at a time.
Finally, my wife has also had success selling on eBay and Poshmark. To increase the odds of selling your items, make sure to take plenty of pictures and consider wearing them or putting them on a mannequin so the buyer can visualize how the item fits.
23. Sell Your Old Books
You can also make a quick buck by selling your used books and textbooks that you’ll no longer read. Selling our old books is another way we boost our income each year and you can start with these three sites:
Amazon Marketplace
Cash4Books
Bookscouter (Textbooks only)
Selling is easy as you only have to enter the ISBN to receive an instant quote from Cash4Books and Bookscouter. If you like the price, you ship the books for free using their prepaid shipping label and you will be paid via PayPal once your shipment arrives and is processed.
I recommend using Bookscouter for selling your textbooks as they compare the prices of 42 buyback vendors in a single search; saving you time while finding the best buyer.
24. Sell Movies, Music, and Video Games
You can also make some extra cash by selling your old DVDs, CDs, and video games with Bonavendi. With their app, you can scan barcodes and compare the prices of 28 companies including Amazon and Best Buy.
25. Sell Old Electronics
Decluttr can be the most efficient app to sell your old electronics, smartphone, and tech gadgets. The Decluttr app scans item barcodes and you receive next-day payments via PayPal and direct deposit once Decluttr receives your shipment. College students can also receive a 10% bonus payment to earn a little extra cash.
26. Sell Used Furniture
Did you recently upgrade your living room or dining room set? If there’s still some life in your old furniture collection, get a few bucks for it. Craigslist or letgo can be your best friend to attract college students and young couples that only need something affordable, but Trove Market is another option for more valuable pieces.
27. Sell Your Car
Another way to raise cash quickly is to sell a car you no longer need. Even if you need to sell your fancy ride and drive a clunker instead, how else can you access $10,000+ instantly.
I sold my $20,000 sports car and now drive a very reliable $4,000 vehicle instead. Although I don’t turn as many heads as before, the $16,000 in cash proceeds was split between our savings and an extra house payment.
28. Have a Yard Sale
Decluttering helps you discover a small fortune sitting underneath your roof. The only problem is that you must sell your stuff to get cash. Having a yard sale is one of the quickest ways to sell most of your items in a weekend.
Coordinating your yard sale with your neighborhood sale is a good idea, but you should also post your sale on:
Craigslist
Facebook Marketplace
Your local newspaper
29. Donate Plasma
There’s a perpetual demand for plasma to treat rare, chronic diseases and you can make $400 each month by donating plasma. Two places to begin advertising your pet sitting and dog walking services are Care and Rover.

34. Shovel Snow
You can also make money during the winter shoveling driveways and sidewalks. By owning a truck and plow, you can earn more keeping parking lots clean. Because snow removal is more labor-intensive than mowing a lawn, you can earn more per property than mowing (I did at least).
35. Clean Gutters and Rake Leaves
In the fall, you can also rake leaves and clean gutters before winter sets in. Once again, these are simple tasks that most homeowners simple don’t enjoy doing and offer a decent income if you enjoy working outside.
36. Pressure Wash Houses
Most houses need to be pressure washed every two or three years to maintain that “new” look. Many homeowners either don’t own a pressure washer or don’t have the time to keep their siding clean. You can advertise your services online or simply start knocking on doors to get your first clients.
37. Paint Houses
If you own a paint sprayer, can smoothly roll paint, or know how to seamlessly cut in wall edges, painting houses is another possibility. This is one task most homeowners won’t attempt on their own, especially if they aren’t a skilled painter or they are preparing to sell their house and want a professional-quality job.
38. Become a Handyman
Property management is a huge business beyond yard work, you can use your hands to help your neighbors with various home tasks with Takl or TaskRabbit including:
Home improvement
Mounting and installing new household devices
Furniture assembly
Moving and packing
39. Collect Scrap Metal
You or your family and friends might have a garage full of old household appliances. Maybe you have acquired a small scrap metal collection from your other side hustle opportunities. Regardless of how you (legally) collect your scrap, taking your ferrous and non-ferrous metal to a local scrap yard will yield an instant payment.
Some of the best ferrous and non-ferrous metals to collect are:
Aluminum
Brass
Copper
Steel
You will get the best price by bringing a single, large load compared to many small loads–even if they’re the same weight. Scrap yards have an easier time selling larger quantities to buyers and reward you with a volume bonus for making their job easier.
40. Deliver Newspapers
Newspaper routes are a steady part-time income stream if you can work in the early morning hours before your regular job or classes. If there are multiple newspaper in your town, you can also apply for a route that might deliver only a few days per week–instead of all seven– if you can’t commit to delivering papers every day of the week.
41. Deliver Phone Books
A one-time, seasonal hustle is delivering phone books five days a week. You need to be at least 18-years-old and have a driver’s license to participate. PDC is one of the largest delivery companies and they might be looking for delivery people like you.
42. Cut Firewood
Many people still heat their houses with wood in the winter or need wood for summer camping trips, but they don’t have access to their own firewood source. Or, they don’t have the time to cut their own wood. Cutting and delivering firewood is another in-demand income stream.
Summary
It doesn’t matter if you want to pursue a side hustle, sell some of your belongings, or cut spending, there are multiple ways to get money fast. We all have different skills and schedules so you pick the ideas that work best for you. No matter which ideas you pick, you can’t go wrong because you’re improving your financial situation.

Summary
Maybe this is something you or your friends did in college for some extra “weekend money.” You must be at least 110 pounds, at least 18-years-old in most states to donate and free of certain illnesses.

*Exactly 20 minutes later Kihyun opens the door to a smiling Heechul in head to toe red.*
“You look like the Kool Aid man post gastric bypass,” Kihyun said.
“And you look like a bitch who’s been through some things,” Heechul said sweeping into the room. “Red is my color. Well, all colors are my color. But blood doesn’t show up as well on red. And black is only for funerals and weddings. Now, where at the victims?”
*They walk into the kitchen. Heechul sits at the table while Kihyun cooks.*
“Shownu is upstairs, Wonho is on the way and there won’t be any blood. What did you stop to get?”
“Red wine and popcorn! I always snack on these when I watch my dramas.”
“This is not a drama, this is my life!”
“Yes darling, it is. It is your drama filled life, and I need a salty snack to enjoy while I watch this live and in color.”
“Why are you even here?”
“For the receipts, silly. First hand accounts are so much juicier than second hand. And you know, I don’t like anything second hand.”
“Bitch, get out!”
*DingDong*
“Ooop! Showtime!
“Jagi! Who’s that?” Shownu yells coming downstairs. “Oh, hey Heechul. You staying for dinner too?”
“Uh huh,” Heechul says from behind his wine glass. “I know whatever gets served is going to be juicy.”
*Shownu goes to answer the door*
“I hate you, so much,” Kihyun hisses to the grinning man.
“I know, yet you still keep coming back to me. You know you love me,” he blows a kiss to Kihyun.
A stunned Shownu walks back into the kitchen, “I didn’t know Wonho was coming over too.”
“WONHO! How’ve you been? I heard you’ve been a very busy boy,” Heechul grins eating popcorn.
“I invited him yeobo, I think we all need to talk.” Kihyun said setting the table.
“Talk? About what jagiya,” Shownu asked his voice cracking.
“I really think I should go,” Wonho says backing up.
“Oh no you don’t! I don’t like being the third wheel, you come sit by me,” Heechul pulled him over to the seat next to him. “Want some popcorn, maybe some wine? You’re looking a little pale, babyboy?”
Shownu starts coughing and Heechul’s smile just grows.
“You know what. {Bleep} it. I’m just gonna say it,” Kihyun says throwing his dishrag onto the counter. “I know you’re {bleep}ing Wonho.”
“Oop! It’s starting, it’s starting!” *Heechul grabs a handful of popcorn.*
“But you don’t know I’m {bleep}ing him too. Yeah, the slut’s been playing us both.”
“Wait, I wasn’t playing anyone beautiful. If anything, I was the one being used here.”
*Heechul pours himself another glass of wine*
“Oh, you haven’t been used yet babyboy,” Shownu said with a scowl on his face.
“Oh, well. That’s my cue. I will see you three later. KiKi love you, it was fun. Shownu, pleasure as always. Wonho, good luck.”
*Heechul downs his glass of wine, puts on his ‘haterblockers,’ wraps his coat around his shoulders in a flourish and leaves.*

*Scene: Jeonghan and Heechul sitting at a table in a restaurant*

Art Supplies and Paper: Chapter 3
Can be found on AO3 and MTT
Pam lead him to the pencil cases and suggested one that had a lock, he picked one with a cute pattern, she admired that he knew exactly the kind of pattern his niece would like. She quickly grabbed a couple different sized paint brushes and a pencil sharpener on the way to the paper aisle.
“Picking paper is the second most complicated step in this process, there are many sizes and weight options.” she said, “I know, I sell paper for a living.” He replied dryly, “But my company only sells copier paper, nothing special.” He continued as she picked out a large pad, and a smaller size for on the go drawing, and some watercolor paper blank cards that his niece could draw on.
“I think that’s all you might need.”
“Okay”
“I’ll ring you up.”
She carried the basket of items to the front and starts to scan the items. She hadn’t really had the chance to look at him before. God, he was cute, his slightly shaggy hair falling over his forehead, his shy smile. He handed her his credit card when she was done scanning and announced the total. She took it from him, swiped it, and while she waited for the receipt to print she glanced at the name, James D. Halpert, it suited him. “Thanks for coming in today, James. Hope your niece likes the gift!” Pam said. “Thanks for your help, Pamela. I think she will!” As she watched him leave the store, she had a feeling that would not be the last time they would meet.
While she was on her lunch break, Pam received a text:
To: Pam Beesly
From: Kelly Kapoor
Hey! Ryan and I are going out to a bar tonight, and you should totally come along, I already have a cute top for you to wear!
To:Kelly Kapoor
From: Pam Beesly
I don’t really want to be a third-wheel. I’ll enjoy a quiet night at home, with a glass of wine and catching up on tv shows. You guys go out and have fun.
To: Pam Beesly
From: Kelly Kapoor
You neeeeed to get out Pam. I’ll help you find a cute guy. You haven't dated anyone since you broke it off with Roy, for no reason!
To:Kelly Kapoor
From:Pam Beesly
I had plenty of very valid reasons to break it off with Roy. Anyway we are not talking about this again. And I guess you are right, I’ll come with you guys.
To:Pam Beesly
From: Kelly Kapoor
OMG! Yayayayayay!
The rest of the workday was pretty boring and mundane. When Pam arrived at home, Kelly was in her room waiting to help her get ready for their night out. Kelly shoved a blouse, that was actually, quite surprisingly, Pam’s style, into Pam’s arms then immediately went to the closet to find one of Pam’s pencil skirts. Once she was dressed Kelly helped her put on just a bit of make-up and tame her hair.
Ryan came to pick up the two ladies and the trio headed to Poor Richard’s Pub. While they sat in their booth, Pam heard stories of Ryan’s days at Business school and weird stories from the customer service desk and helpline. Then the dreaded question came, from Ryan, “So, anything interesting happen at the store today, Pam?” She thought to herself, “I could just lie, how would they know if I met some cute guy I will never meet again today?”
“Pam?” Kelly said with some insistence, “She’s hesitating, something totally happened! What happened?”
“Oh, sorry. I'm just tired. Nothing happened today, I swear.”
Just as she finished speaking the pub door opened, and a group of people walked in. “Omg!” she thought, “It’s him.” she whispered quietly.

Microsoft 365 is the smartest place to store your content
In the modern workplace, rising expectations to innovate and improve productivity are putting pressure on employees to do more in less time. The world’s most successful organizations are addressing this by adopting new ways of working that leverage Microsoft 365 with OneDrive and SharePoint to manage and collaborate on content.
Today, we are announcing upcoming capabilities that, along with our recent investments, combine the power of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning with content stored in OneDrive and SharePoint to help you be more productive, make more informed decisions, and keep more secure.
Be more productive
A key to being productive is leveraging existing content so you’re not reinventing the wheel. Historically this has been challenging due to the exponential growth of digital content, particularly with image, video, and audio files. Until now, these rich file types have been cumbersome to manage and painful to sift through to find what you need, when you need it.
Video and audio transcription—Beginning later this year, automated transcription services will be natively available for video and audio files in OneDrive and SharePoint using the same AI technology available in Microsoft Stream. While viewing a video or listening to an audio file, a full transcript (improving both accessibility and search) will show directly in our industry-leading viewer, which supports over 320 different file types. This will help you utilize your personal video and audio assets, as well as collaborate with others to produce your best work.
Once you’re ready to make a video broadly available across the organization, you can upload and publish to Microsoft Stream. You’ll continue to get transcription services plus other AI driven capabilities, including in-video face detection and automatic captions. Importantly, your audio and video content never leaves the Microsoft Cloud; it is not passed through potentially costly and insecure third-party services.
Searching audio, video, and images—Announced last September, we are unlocking the value of photos and images stored in OneDrive and SharePoint. Using native, secure AI, we determine where photos were taken, recognize objects, and extract text in photos. This recognition and text extraction allows you to search for images as easily as you search for documents. For example, you could search a folder of scanned receipts for the receipt that mentions “sushi.” Video and audio files also become fully searchable thanks to the transcription services described earlier.
Intelligent files recommendations—Later this year, we’ll introduce a new files view to OneDrive and the Office.com home page to recommend relevant files to you. Suggested files are based on the intelligence of the Microsoft Graph and its understanding of how you work, who you work with, and activity on content shared with you across Microsoft 365. This deep understanding of user behavior and relationships among coworkers is unique to Microsoft 365 and continues to be enriched as you collaborate on content in OneDrive and SharePoint.
AI also makes it easier to create new documents by reusing existing content. The Tap feature in Word 2016 and Outlook 2016 intelligently recommends content stored in OneDrive and SharePoint by understanding the context of what you are working on. This allows you to leverage and repurpose a paragraph, table, graphic, chart, or more from another file while working on a new document or email.
Make more informed decisions
OneDrive and SharePoint make your life easier thanks to innovative AI that helps you make more informed decisions while working with content.
File insights—Earlier this year, we rolled out an updated file card, providing access statistics for any file stored in OneDrive and SharePoint. This allows you to see who has looked at the file and what they have been doing, and it helps you decide your next action. Later this year, we’ll bring these valuable file statistics directly into the native Office application experience.
Additionally, we’ll introduce additional insights to the file card with “Inside look,” giving you important information at a glance—including time to read and key points from the document, so you can choose to dive in deeper or save it for later.
Intelligent sharing—Later this year, you’ll have the option to easily share relevant content with meeting attendees. For instance, if you just presented a PowerPoint presentation, you’ll be prompted to share it with the other attendees once the meeting is over. In the OneDrive mobile app, we’ll automatically prompt you to share photos taken during the same meeting, perhaps of a whiteboard where you brainstormed new ideas with your colleagues—all based on your Outlook calendar. This type of real-world intelligence allows you to quickly keep everyone informed and move on to your next task and is exclusively available when you store your content in OneDrive and SharePoint.
Data insights—Earlier this year at the SharePoint Virtual Summit, we showed you how you could immediately enrich your OneDrive and SharePoint content with intelligence by leveraging the flexibility of Microsoft Flow and the power of Azure Cognitive Services. Since these services are powered by Microsoft Azure, you can get sentiment analysis, key word extraction, and even custom image recognition—all while keeping your content secure in the Microsoft Cloud and away from potentially costly and insecure third-party services. Additionally, you can use information provided by these cognitive services to set up custom workflows to organize images, trigger notifications, or invoke more extensive business processes directly in OneDrive and SharePoint with deep integration to Microsoft Flow.
Keep more secure
When your files are stored in OneDrive and SharePoint, AI also helps to protect your content, keep you compliant, and thwart malicious attacks.
OneDrive files restore—Earlier this year, we released OneDrive files restore including integration with Windows Defender Antivirus to protect you from ransomware attacks by identifying breaches and guiding you through remediation and file recovery. With a full 30 days of file history and sophisticated machine learning to help us spot potential attacks early, OneDrive gives you peace of mind for every file you store. Best of all, moving your files to OneDrive has never been easier thanks to Known Folder Move.
Intelligent compliance—In addition to being able to apply native data loss prevention (DLP) policies and conduct native eDiscovery searches on textual content stored in OneDrive and SharePoint, with the innovations discussed above, we’re making it even easier to use these key compliance capabilities with audio, video, and images later this year. Soon you’ll be able to leverage the text extracted from photos and audio/video transcriptions to automatically apply these policies and protect this content.
Get started
As you can see, by leveraging Microsoft’s industry-leading investments in AI we have made OneDrive and SharePoint in Microsoft 365 the smartest place to store your content. In fact, Microsoft is recognized as a leader by Gartner in both their Content Collaboration Platforms Magic Quadrant and Content Services Platforms Magic Quadrant reports, as well as Forrester in both their cloud and hybrid Forrester Wave: Enterprise File Sync and Share Platforms Q4 2017 reports.
You can start realizing these benefits and more by moving your content to OneDrive and SharePoint today, just as Fortune 500 customers MGM Resorts International, Walmart, Johnson Controls International, and Textron are doing. You’ll automatically get more value as we continue to invest in these and other new AI capabilities to help you achieve more.
Microsoft has a bold vision to transform content collaboration for the modern workplace inclusive of files, dynamic web sites and portals, streaming video, AI, and mixed reality, while reducing costs and improving compliance and security. Be sure to join us at Microsoft Ignite from September 24–28, 2018 in Orlando, Florida, or on-demand, where we’ll continue to unveil how AI will accelerate content collaboration in the modern workplace.
