My friend caught on that my special interest character rants have shifted to new characters recently.

I had to inform them that I was indeed cursed by a mutual with a new chronic hyperfixation.

Anyways it takes place in the modern day (so no black water, hallowoods or fort freedom) and Jedidiah, Johannah, Jemimah, and technically Joel all live with Jacob for reasons that I am willing to get into if asked but wont here for length reasons. But long story short, this is a fairly new arrangement, and everyone's still getting adjusted (more actual details under the cut)

The kids all have to start at public school, which is a transition for everyone because before then they were all homeschooled. Joel's a senior, Johannah's a freshman, and Jed's a sophomore , and Jemimah's in 5th grade.

Johannah's always struggled a bit with making friends so when a group of pretty, popular, seemingly nice girls decide that they want to hang out with her, she gets sucked into their friend group ends up becoming essentially a "mean girl." This puts a good bit of tension between her and everyone else, but especially Jed because of how close they were before.

Jedidiah ends up befriending two guys that are in a few of his classes, and he loves his art class and none of his other classes and is lowkey questioning his gender and he's confused because suddenly his sister hates him.

Russel works with a company groundskeeping company, and he mostly does yardwork but his boss is weird and he's always trying to figure out what the heck she's up to because whatever it is, he is CONVINCED that's it's not legal, other than that though, he really like her and the rest of the job so he sticks around. He and Al, like in canon, have been best friends since elementary school. He's also friends with a weird amount of college students for a high school sophmore but nobody questions it because he has older sister

Al, the love of my life, lives with his Zelda. He's really quiet in class and is never seen without his noise cancelling headphones but he carries the school baseball team on his back because he's like a really really good pitcher. He went to the same church as the Wickers when he was a kid, but only Johannah recognizes him and she isn't going to say anything about it.

There's some spooky shit going on too but tbh there's so much in the au that I've either developed too much to put into one post or not enough so I'm leaving ya'll here.
