Only critique I have towards this AU of yours is dark Sonic's characterization, I much prefer the idea that he has complete awareness of the things he's doing, making dark sonic this uncontrollable creature (exaggerating of course, I have no idea how far your dark sonic goes in the uncontrollable spectrum) kind of takes away what makes the form special to me, the idea that in this form sonic knows that what he's doing is the wrong thing but still enjoys it regardless gives a lot more nuance to the form to me instead of just being the basic "Naruto 4 tailed transformation" kind of character, idk how to describe it, it's been a while since I watched that episode, so forgive me if I got a lot of things wrong, I spend more time analyzing sonic himself instead of dark sonic. Dark sonic being basically if sonic let himself be more self-indulgent in everything he does to the point of basically allowing himself to go an a power fantasy and show off how much weaker anyone else actually is in comparison to himself makes the form really stand out from being just fleetway super sonic, but more silent, dark sonic is not uncontrollably attacking everyone on the battlefield, he knows how to focus those negative emotions on one target, he knows what he's doing and that makes him far more compelling than just being another Kurama-like character, cuz no one ever uses a "character that attacks everything and everyone uncontrollably" to it's maximum extent anyways, never get to see character like that maybe killing an ally, they always manage to get the character to stop before anything truly bad happens, no one has the balls to actually kill a character off like that... Oh well, I got off track, anyways don't let me rain on your parade tho, if you really enjoy the way things are right now let them be, hope you manage to tell the story you wanna tell.

I think I did a poorly job describing Dark Sonic's personality in the AU, mostly bc I have drawings that will explain everything better. Sorry for taking too long btw! I decided to take a lil break from drawing since I was overworking myself.

I never said Dark Sonic was not aware of his actions tho, I think I stated that the one who's not fully aware of what is going on is HyperShadow, and that Dark Sonic is fully aware; he has his memories, he knows something is wrong, and he wants to go back to normal. He just simply can't, since HyperShadow has basically stole all his light energy.

Since he can't go back to normal, he is stuck following Shadow around since his presence calms him. Dark Sonic in my AU basically cannot measure his strenght, and lets his depressive emotions take over him. I see Sonic as a creature who is way too powerful but never uses his full potential bc he controls himself, but Dark Sonic is just a form where he can't do that.

Dark Sonic is sad, upset, impulsive, and lost. He is all the emotions Sonic usually hides nor doesn't like about himself, he can't think in a positive way, and he lets his emotions act for him.

AAAAAAH I'm actually so flattered rn like, I don't think I have been asked this before??! I'm just going to take your ask literally, and attempt to explain how I render! Okay okay bear with me, I'm going to try my best to go over what happens behind the scenes🗣🗣Putting my teacher hat on, I hope this makes sense and is helpful!

Okay... we are gonna go ahead and spoil one of the art pieces I'm working on! The first part of it, at least!

First: My idea! This usually happens if I hear a really good song or have a scenario in my head that just needs to be drawn so I don't forget, and then I just throw up a sketch! Doesn't have to be perfect or pretty, just my ideas on where characters should be, or what pose, what facial expressions I'm going for, etc.!

(Facial expressions aside for this one because Sonic looks so goofy on the top left right there lololol)

Next would be finding out what color scheme I want to use for the drawing. So, I throw together some colors and decide if that's the feel I'm looking for! Color can convey alot about a certain mood/tone you're going for in an art piece, so I kinda go with what I think looks good and what will reach the vibe I felt when imagining it! I find myself using warmer colors more often because those colors give me that folk-like, forest fall tone I love! Once you have certain colors you like, just throw them together until it looks good to you and gets you closer to that vibe you want!

Like here, I'm going for a warm, yet tragic, "melancholy" feel? I heard the song "Little Pistol" by Mother Mother again recently, and the whole song felt tragic, yet powerful and meaningful (such a good song, check it out if you would like!). I wanted to convey sonadow like that too! A scenario where Sonic found Shadow instead of Eggman after he fell to earth, where Shadow is surrounded by old trees and long grass; the environment kind of grew around him and embraced him in a gentle kind of way. (I also just really like nature environments with big trees so I tend to project that in my art herherh☝️)

Usually, I do a sketch, then a cleaner lineart sketch above that layer, and then I color. But here, I switched it around and did color under the sketch layer before I cleaned it up. I wanted to make sure the colors were what I wanted them to be! It's really up to the beholder: what colors do you like? Where would they be good in your eyes? And the pen you use to color/draw definitely has a role to play in it too! I use very grainy brushes; brushes that are not too harsh on each other so they mesh nicely. Example! vv

I find it easier to draw when my pens are messier; I feel less restricted and can be more expressive! So, once you have pens you like and colors you enjoy adding, then it's time to start chipping away and molding the art to your vision! A lot of trial and error, that's for sure,,

When I render, it's done using either the brush I used for the grainy lineart, or it's another brush meant for color blending/texture. In this case, it was another brush that blends/creates color! For example, if I put red on orange, it makes brown (sometimes, lol) It doesn't make just one color when I use it, as I aim for all sorts of colors in my art! I go over the sketches and fix anything that looks weird and clean up using colors I already planned out on top of the sketch layer. Like here, I removed the guidelines for Shadow's big head and cleaned up his white fur! I also decided that the grass needed to be more defined, so I went to work there. I also added some blue to his muzzle to create a very faint greenish shading, deciding that it needed something more!

I also don't really have a structure for creating new layers. If I feel like starting a new layer to add more rendering, I do! Some drawings have 5 layers, some have 47!)

So really, it's all about what you like as an artist! More shading, go for it! Some blue here? Yes please! Not enough red here? Let's add some!

Here is the almost finished final product, I changed his ear tuft to make it look neater, added more blue to the orange grass to add depth, some small sketchy lineart for definition, and alot of other colors in different spots to give it that messy, painting-like vibe! I made Shadow's nose smaller, and colored over the Sonic scetch using both the lineart pen I use and color blending brushes!

And that's usually how I render! By going layer by layer on what I feel like I need to add to the drawing, and alot of it is trusting the process! Hopefully all that made some sense, and you can find really good Ibispaintx brush QR codes out there if you aren't vibing with the default pens! I also found drawing to be much more fun when I bought a stylus! Sometimes changing your method/approach makes it more fun and engaging, at least for me!

Have some rants about my fav Sonic ships

Trust me when I say this is not what I intended to do for Valentine's day, but my access to the proper materials for my next big project is currently fairly limited, so instead have this (I didn't think I had so much to say I got a bit carried away 👉👈). This is heavy with aro/ace/aroace discourse because as an aroace myself I cannot help it, and huh, reminder that this is just for fun and everyone's opinions are accepted around here as long as it's respectful :3

Espilver is so wholesome I am willing to temporaly remove the aromantic label I put on both these guys. And when an aroace person is ready to drop this label for a ship you know it has to be good. (They're still both asexual idc tho)

I am prone to shipping Sonic with pretty much everyone (elligible for that at least) while thinking he's the biggest aroace mood ever (but I know I am not alone on that one)

Since I've started posting Sonic fanart, there has not been a SINGLE sonadow ship art, but I still really love this ship. Like it's mostly what got me into Sonic in the first place but I don't want to draw it (honestly I think my mind is just drawn to less popular things, I mean sonadow is already everywhere on my dashboard)

Because (except for espilver) my top ships are sonjet and surgamy, I'm basically shipping your two main hedgehogs who are sometimes implied to have feelings for eachother in a gay relationship with a green person with spiky hair and an attitude, and I thought it was funny because it was NOT on purpose xD

Speaking of sonjet I have like three different timelines existing in my mind with this, because I love the "they never dated but they are definitely exes now"/"they tried smt some time ago it didn't work out" narrative, but also the one where Sonic can be the perfect boyfriend and respond to Jet's needs and issues I imagined for him, and also the one where Jet is a total girlfailure of a man who tries to rizz up someone who has zero clue.

I have thought over and over about Blaze ships and my mind just blocks it. At first I thought it was just Silvaze because I was overprotective of my Silver's orientation (when I first saw it I thought "yeah he's aroace", and I'm not a fan of shipping a guy and a girl just because they interact with eachother and are close). But it's everything. Sonaze? I mean she blushed around him on several occasions, so what? I feel like she's just not used to social interaction. Blazamy? I see the fluff, I see the awesome lesbian couple (and I'm an Utena fan, I gotta love the pink/purple yuri), but it doesn't light up anything in me. Are they any other Blaze ships? Idk, but I can't see her with anyone romantically. Never has a character given me so much aroace vibes that the very forces of nature are preventing me to ship her.

Vectilla activates my brain chemistry like crazy. TF you mean the only "sega-approved" ship is between two grown ass people who are not even part of the main character group? And one is a single mother too? Like it's very simple but it's already a norm breaker in my opinion. Though usually a bunch of male characters have their own personally-crafted love interest, they fall in love for no reason and the love is immediately reciprocal because of course it is (*cough* looking at you ninjago). I think it also work because both Vector and Vanilla have their own things going on, and the romance is just a nice plus. And since Team Chaotix is already the peak of Sonic found family, it's also cool to think about the shenanigans with the children (aka Espio, Cream and Charmy). I am a strong Vectilla shipper and I will make you care about them >:)

It's been a few days since I closed the google form to responses, and I've finally finished consolidating all the information into an easy to read format! The post gets a bit long and there a decent amount of images beyond this point so I've put in a read more, if this information interests you - look below :]

In total the form got 42 responses, including my own. Of these 42 responses, 35 answered every question in the first two sections. Six different characters were mentioned with a headacnon that I missed, but they were only mentioned once.

I made a pie chart for each question. If your answer was a joke answer (there was a few of those, they will get honourable mentions later on - because they were funny) or not able to be easily categorised/summarised they have been defined as "other".

Trivia and Extra Info

Parkour Villian/Clownpierce is the character with the most different species, ranking in with 20 different options - excluding other - and this did make the spreadsheet hell to organise but I dug my own grave with that one

From a statistical perspective (because, yes, I did the math), Evbo's Noob Neighbour is the character with the most agreed upon species - that being Human. The opposite of Clownpierce and saviour of my only shred of sanity left/silly

Cookie God is the only character who doesn't have a single answer as human. (No it's not EMF or House Selling Master, they both had one answer as human sadly)

Seawatt is the only character with a two way draw between species as a final result. Those two species are Sphynx and Human - both having 10 votes or taking up ~23.8% of the pie chart. Sphynx is also my own personal headcanon that I've never actually seen anywhere else prior to this and was the only reason it's listed, so it's nice to see people agree :] even if it might be due to a bias as the option was listed and didn't have to be typed in shhhhhhh

I was originally just going to do this with Mint and Spector, but then idea got too big so I did all of them lol. Here are the relationships Leena has with the main Sonic characters, along with a few OCs:

(sorry in advance for my lack of practice drawing Knuckles and Amy lol)

First up, Sonic the Hedgehog! When they first met, Leena thought Sonic was just an immature, leap-before-you-look kind of person. And while that wasn't exactly wrong, they’ve grown close in a way that only rival siblings could. Their similarities cause them to fight and pick on each other a lot, but when they ever team up, they can do anything.

Silver the Hedgehog is Leena’s best friend—and has been since they met in the broken future Silver managed to change. Silver brought Leena with him when he went back, and she decided to stay because she met so many wonderful people. These two are the type of friends who rarely fight and can tell how the other feels, even if they’re trying to hide it.

Amy Rose and Leena are chill. Not exactly besties, but nowhere near enemies. They don’t do too well when left alone, mostly because Amy’s extreme personality makes Leena uncomfortable.

Knuckles the Enchidna and Leena are also chill. They have a mutual respect for each other but never seek out each other’s company.

Mina the Cat (another one of my OCs, although she’s also partly @maplesyrup3501 ‘s) is basically Leena’s mother/mentor. Mina more or less raised Leena, teaching her everything she knows. Leena looks up to Mina and trusts her completely—even if she sometimes gets a little too enthusiastic about things lol.

Leena sees Mint the Possum (@chickenwaffles17 ‘s OC) almost as an elder sister, even though Leena is actually older than her. Mint had such a strong personality (in a different way than Amy), that Leena was drawn to it. Mint is someone that Leena trusts and is glad to be part of Team Sapphire with her, along with Spector.

Spector (@gotta-go-fast ‘s OC) is so precious and pure to Leena. It’s almost like a Katniss-and-Rue kind of relationship, where Leena often forgets that Spector can actually take care of herself. Leena constantly underestimates her, but she’s been trying to keep in mind that Spector is stronger than she looks.

Leena’s relationship with Shadow the Hedgehog is an awkward one. Leena, for the longest time, liked Shadow. But she’s been trying to blow the feelings off for a few reasons—the two biggest being 1. The fact that Shadow is dating Mint and 2. She knows Shadow wouldn’t ever return the feelings. Leena tries to avoid talking with him because of how embarrassed she still is about her feelings.

Leena and Rouge the Bat get along okay, since Mint is their mutual friend. But like with Knuckles, Rouge isn’t someone Leena seeks out—unless she needed very specific help or information—but they have a similar kind of mutual respect.

Although she has never admitted this to anyone—and most certainly never plans too—Leena does not like Miles “Tails” Prower. She thinks he is annoyingly smart and he makes her feel stupid since he is so much younger than her but could build a robot out of her toaster if he so desired. She hates listening his advice, especially when he’s right—but sometimes she stubbornly refuses to take it. She tries her best to be nice to him, since he is Sonic’s best friend and everyone else loves him—but she doesn’t even have his phone number, not even for an emergency. It, uh, just never came up.

I ship stobotnik and it will show in this. Some of the things posted might get a lil spicy (18+) in relation to Stone, but probably not. For the most part it’s a lot of disheveled Stone but that’s cause he’s going through it.

There will be characters who are minors who are addressed and possibly will be a part of the blog, I will not tolerate inappropriate comments about them.

Will probably redo-this master list at some point, it will cary any arcs that occur.

I have a semblance plans for plot/arcs but will mostly be going where the asks take me. I might take a while to answer as I am someone with a somewhat busy schedule. I am one person alone running this.

Chaos (She/Her or Any)

This is Chaos. Chaos is my oldest Sonic OC so be nice! 😹 The child's drawing behind her was drawn on August 19, 2006 at 10:30 AM. It was drawn on a large foam board. I remember being annoyed that my mother always told me to sign and date my art so I added the time to this drawing out of annoyance. It is not the first drawing of her.

Chaos' tricks do not require Chaos Emeralds to use. That makes her pretty powerful. She is not pictured with her cheap plastic wand here in the new art but they still have it. Chaos can turn ordinary objects into magical ones. I suppose you can say these objects are imbued with chaos energy.

I changed the "doughnut" part of the hat from blue to gold. Chaos used to hide things inside their hat. They can even fit humans inside their hat! The gold "doughnut" is really a Giant Ring, or Dimension Ring. Big Ring? It's one of those. She's probably hiding a Special Stage inside her hat too. The hat itself was also an ordinary object.

It was Dottie, Chaos' best friend, who gifted Chaos these objects. She bought a cheap magician's kit which included a wand and gloves. She also got a wizard hat at the same magic shop. The shoes were either copied, or stolen. Dottie doesn't get that much allowance. Their look was inspired by the Moon Boot. Perhaps she found them in her parents' closet. lol

This is the character that carried around emergency snacks to treat what seemed like hypoglycemia. I got a lot of responses on that one post, surprisingly. I don't have diabetes (there's still time) so I'm not sure how well I could write a character with diabetes. I am seriously considering making Chaos a diabetic character.

If I had to pick a song to introduce Chaos with, it'd be Put It Together (Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo) from Cinderella II: Dreams Come True. I watched it so many times as a kid.

This works both as another “It’s not like I like Knuckles” SonKnux hint, but also as a great moment to show Sonic caring about his friends. As a kid, it brought me up to speed with the situation with Porker and also painted Sonic as someone who checks in on his friends and doesn’t think of Porker as a coward for not being able to carry on working with the Freedom Fighters. The Sonic & Porker friendship has always meant a lot to me and that can probably be pinned back to this issue

Anyway, a seemingly small shock sees Sonic fall off the ledge and if you think dropping StC Sonic into a vat of chaos energy won’t end well for anyone then… you’d be right :) 

This whole page deserves to be shared as it is, because Porker’s breakdown really sells just how dire the situation is. That even a soft-spoken character like him gets frustrated with the robot head. To me as a kid, just Sonic falling off a ledge seemed kinda bad, but this page hammers home that it’s terrifying for reasons I didn’t know about yet

We’ve had a few Super Sonic appearances before now, but I do think this is the first one that truly puts across the scale of his abilities compared to regular Sonic. And also his abilities compared to, well, most other characters in StC

Adding to the previous point: This whole page of Super Sonic wiping out an aircraft full of robots without even noticing just because it happened to be in his flight path

Honestly, after how Sonic treated Amy on the Miracle Planet last time I’m not surprised she’s glad of a break from him

But here it is, the big cliffhanger that got me to come back! I’ve talked about this full page spread a lot in the pinned post and everything I said there holds true. Even looking at this some 28 years later, this still radiates the same raw awesomeness that it did when I first saw it. Super Sonic just bursting through the trees and making a sharp angled turn to come at Amy at such a speed! On the surface, it seemed like Amy had no chance - but she already seemed so cool and capable in this story that I had faith she’d be okay and had to see how that worked out for her next time

You know, if I one day wanted to make some sort of top ten of my favourite moments in Sonic Comics overall, I’d need to reread a lot of stuff from Archie to refresh (as well as properly read the various Sonic manga), but I’m certain that this moment would rank very high, if not take the top spot on that list. Just… glorious!

A World Without Sonic

**disclaimer: i'm not a writer and I did not proofread it lol. this was the idea for my next comic but i got lazy to draw it so i wrote it out instead for now.

Shadow finds himself in the last spot he was in right before the prism shattering, his arms held out and empty where the blue hedgehog once was, feeling disoriented for only a split second.

The cave!

Wasting no time, the black hedgehog dashes away making his way up to his destination. His heart racing wondering if Sonic made it alive and intact. A pit in his stomach grew on his way over, fearing the outcome. Like Schrödinger's cat, unfortunately there was only one way to find out, whether he liked it or not.

He makes his grand appearance at the mouth of the cave, and without thinking calls out

"Sonic!"

"Shadow??"

His heart dropped. At the scene, Eggman and Sonic's friends all staring blankly at him, both parties equally confused. But sonic was nowhere in sight.

This left him no choice.

"Chaos Control!"

and he disappeared just like that, along with the Paradox Prism.

Warping to a secluded location unbeknownst to anyone except himself, he sheltered the prism.

I guess this will have to do for now.

Against his will, he supposed he'd have to be the guardian of this thing for now, not unlike a certain echidna and the master emerald but he knew he couldn't entrust the prism with anyone else other than himself.

Now that the prism was taken care of for now, he could finally think about the burden on his mind.

Sonic...

Did he really not make it ?

He refused to believe that the bundle of blue joy was no longer in existence. He couldn't leave things at that, this warranted further investigation.

He needed answers now.

And he first person that came to mind was...

"I really... don't know who you are talking about?" Tails pondered with a hand to his chin. "Are you sure you're feeling okay, Shadow?"

"The name Sonic doesn't ring a bell? Really? Your blue hedgehog best friend? Try to remember."

"I feel like, it's supposed to be familiar but I don't really know. Nothing comes to mind. Sor-"

"Never mind, then."

Shadow walked away.

"Umm.. okay?" Tails shrugged him off, thought left a little dumbfounded.

On to the next one..

"Hey redhead, where's your blue friend Sonic?"

"What did you call me?!" Knuckles didn't take so kindly to the nicknames and much less being interrupted during his midday nap.

"Where's Sonic?"

"Don't know 'im"

He sighed defeatedly and took his leave.

Tails didn't know. Knuckles didn't know.

Big and Rouge didn't know either.

Of course Sonic isn't going to be anywhere. He's not here. It's like he never existed. And even knowing this was venture was fruitless, he felt the need to ask everyone anyway, as if he was holding out hope for something.

How stupid. This behaviour wasn't like him.

And there was only one last person left, the only person who could possibly understand even a tiny bit how he felt.

"Oh Shadow nice to see you around. You don't normally stroll around so casually, did you need something?" Amy, oh so very cheerful as always.

"Have you seen Sonic?" Shadow was straight to the point.

"Sonic? Ummm.." she gave it some thought. She felt like she was supposed to know who that was and although she didn't, it did make her heart flutter a bit. "Is he your friend?"

"No, he's not my friend, just someone I'm looking for."

"Oh... well I noticed you've been asking and searching around endlessly. He must be someone important to you."

"...Yeah, I guess so." He melancholically looked off into the distance.

The two of them were sitting on a hill with a nice view of the green hill landscape.

"If you don't mind, can you tell me more about Sonic? Who was he? What happened?"

"He... was a hero, your friend.. everyone's friend.." he trailed off.

"..And I couldn't save him."

Tears began to well as he began to recall his last memories of their adventure together. A surge of pain growing in his chest and his suppressed feelings beginning to surface.

Amy turned to Shadow, concern on her face. He was normally never vulnerable with anyone but in this moment, for some reason he felt like he could confide in Amy with this. Even if he couldn't delve into detail.

"He sacrificed himself to save the universe, and now he doesn't exist and no one remembers him... except me." He did his best to hold back his emotions.

She listened to him with sympathy in her eyes.

"A world without Sonic, is not the same world at all. I can't imagine a world without him, and here I am. Here's not here anymore." Brushing away the tears, he turned away to hide his face from her.

Amy wrapped her arms around him and gave him a hug.

"It's okay Shadow. I'm sure it's not your fault.

Knowing you, you probably did everything you could to try to save him. And surely Sonic is thankful for your effort."

He wanted to believe her but his emotions only welled further.

"It wasn't enough... I wasn't enough, and now he's gone. Forever."

She stroked his back, trying to comfort best as she could.

"As long as you remember him in your heart, he exists and lives on in your heart."

At this point , Shadow was basically crying into her shoulders, and although it was extremely embarrassing he couldn't help himself. The tears flowed like rivers, mourning the loss of the only hedgehog he saw as his equal, rival, possibly friend?

How could he live on like this ? First Maria, now Sonic.

His feelings of remorse, hopelessness and sorrow overwhelming him.

When would it end?

Amy's embrace brought him comfort, but oh how he wished he was in Sonic's instead.

He felt his sense of self drifting away until everything became black.

"Shadow?"

"Shadow ?"

Amy's voice tried to reach him but her voice sounding increasingly faint.

"Shadow ?"

A familiar voice...

"Hey you okay?"

"Nngh"

Slowly opening his eyes, he saw emerald green eyes looking down at him and a blur of blue and sunshine.

"S-sonic?" A sudden wave of relief came over him.

He sat up. "You're okay?"

"Of course I am?

He realized he had been sleeping on Sonic's lap? And oh, there was remnants of tears on his face?

"What was that about? Bad dream got ya?" Sonic teased as he layed back against a palm tree, hands behind his head.

Shadow sighed. "Guess you could say that," rubbing the back of his neck.

"I dreamt... you didn't make it back to Green Hill and everyone had forgotten about you. It's like you never existed."

"Oh you missed me so much you started crying in your sleep? Aww-"

Shadow grabbed his face with his hand, squishing his cheeks "Shut it, you." And kissed him.

"I'm just glad you're okay."

And the two resumed their peaceful afternoon by the beachside.

also started playing JoD recentlyyyyy I won't be putting this in the game tags because. very mixed opinions. Still can't say that I love the whole reboot thing, but I am really enjoying the game so far. despite my constant bitchin' lol

anyways damn. I think A-ranking the NiD steam port has made me real fuckin good at this flying business. Either that or this game is, uh, very kind and forgiving in comparison lol. I'm inclined to hope I'm Actually Kind Of Good but like...you don't even get to do bonus laps? which feels kinda weird. fuck that boat level though lmao. C-rank 😔 My WOUNDED PRIDE...I haven't done the Growing Wings analogue for Will yet, only just started Helen's story. A-ranked uh. Splash Garden 2. I've spent maybe only a couple hours so far, didn't check the exact number

also it seemed neat at first but I don't...really...love the mask system? They gave me a rocket mask and I'm not sure I've seen anywhere to even use it...and Suddenly NiGHTS Needs These To Do Stuff, Including Swim, Which Was Something They Used To Be Able To Do No Problem. it feels...really arbitrary. They can turn into a boat and a coaster with rocket boosters in the same game, without those masks!

The exposition-dumping owl muppet's dead, empty eyes continue to haunt me, and I really need him to say less things to me with his horrible beak!!! also the tutorial does not feel good. No real agency, too many stops, you HAVE to suffer it At Least Thrice (both stories + the dreamdrop). I don't love the redesigns, they feel cluttered, and the new bosses and their arenas often feel overwrought, not to mention how many of them feel like a retake of a NiD boss. Between the awkward mocap, too-detailed visuals (texture and design), and incredibly stilted dialogue, it feels real "sonic 06" up in this bitch. Not to mention NiGHTS' characterization just....feels. like a Nicer Sonic. Right down to the awkward Silent Thumbs Up moments. I really don't love that. A lot of the dialogue overall is just exposition or reiterating events rather than...having characters actually interact or learn anything. There's some interesting lines, but it never really cuts deep enough. I do really like some of the third-level designs though!! [to the intonation of "nasa peepo"] nasa Seapo :)

the gameplay itself is solid, and I'm surprised by how varied the minigame levels are. Simple, but they work nicely enough. Flying's pretty smooth since it's the main draw of course, the walking levels are...fine...I just wish they were a little more interesting to actually DO? I do love that the weird little octopus guy lives in utter terror every single moment though. I wonder if I just...never start a link...if those missions will let me just wander around doing stuff forever. either way, I've gotten some decent links going. Getting 180+ does make you feel Pretty Damn Good at the game.

The Nightopian Grass Square Void Dimension is...fascinating. Terrain being influenced by your little guys is neat but getting anything done seems...very time-consuming. also it could've used some like...surroundings, maybe? I'm glad paraloops don't kill nightopians anymore (formal apology to the denizens of Mystic Forest. you were in my flight path.) I'd love to have like an army of Seapo though, I...don't like the wii nightopians very much. I did also get some sort of weird chandelier lamp, kind of looks like the Girania lamps so I think it's maybe from A-ranking that stage? I don't know how I got it. makes me wish I had furniture customization options tho

I think some need to realize localization does not equal bad. I can get behind "he's almost like a fairytale creature in that regard," but AM's "rad dude" contrasts more heavily with Mario at the time, I feel.

Ex of localization: In Splatoon's Salmon Run, Mr Grizz is supposed to be the shady boss of the job you're working. The characteristics of a shady boss differ between cultures. In JP, he is characterized as overly nice and forgiving. In AM, he is characterized as ruthless, unforgiving, and rough, with the occasional compliment to keep you motivated. Either way, both cultures get the idea that something is fishy with this guy.

Bringing it back to Sonic, in both continuities, he is characterized as a carefree do-gooder with an attitude, more or less. He is cool. However, like the Splatoon example, he is given multiple ways to portray this to the right audience.

People have their aesthetic preferences, and it is incredibly convenient that we are able to communicate information across the globe, so we now know of these different interpretations, and can pick which one we like. It'd be one thing if that weren't the case, then I'd understand why people would be upset, because these interps would be gatekept from everyone else.

This one I thought was funnier than the original. It's generalized. (That's the Archie comic font iirc. 🤓)

It reminds me of how many Sonic copycats there were around the mid-late 90s because of how successful of a character he was.

The drawing on the left reminds me of some arcade collection games I played on my Xbox as a kid.

That also reminds me how many people who defend SatAM are 90s kids. This was their first impression, and they love it. I'm the oddball youngin who so happened to prefer this version after typing "Sonic Cartoon" into YouTube in the year 2013, but it makes me wonder how old are these lil petty babies who have nothing better to do than complain about a cartoon animal? (Trust me, you are going to look pathetic regardless of your answer.)

This one took me by surprise! Talk about sabotaging a Sonic story! I don't like this guy too much, but he is occasionally a credible source. I feel like that's the case in more recent times than say at least 10 years ago. This one you can take his word for, as there are mutple pieces of evidence to support this. (Im not your mom, do your own research. The feds wont be after you if you type "SatAM production history" into your search bar.) The first sentence is a full on mood. It felt like Lily Orchard's "Steven Universe is Garbage, Here's Why" video, and 90% of it is them struggling with story comprehension and changing their opinion every 5 minutes.

Anyway, I'm gonna go draw various localized characters, and there's nothing you can do to stop me! >:D

So... I mightve made an eldritch entity of a Sonic oc who's just chilling as a witch's favorite familiar. For context, the sheep witch, Minerva, was made a ways back.

First and foremost, your drawing has improved quite noticeably since the last time you ran a character by me. Good work!

Now, as for the character concepts themselves (I know you mentioned that Minerva was made a while back, but I'll still rank her as well):

For the familiar, I like how you executed all of the body parts of a witch or magic-user while having them disembodied to maintain that sense of something blasphemous or unnatural.

In fact, the more I look at it, the more it gives the impression of 'if someone were given the rights to the NiGHTs IP along with full creative freedom to evolve the monster design'.

For Minerva, right off the bat I commend you for going with a darker color-scheme with her in comparison to the two canon sheep designs we've gotten. Also, with the earring you gave her, she brings up that image of mystic traveling animals (and how their owners will typically give them some manner of jewelry rather than a conventional collar).

The only thing that's making my brain go 'Hm...' with her is the light border on her dress and hat because it's almost giving Christmas-magic rather than witchy-magic, but that's such a minor note compared to the good that is everything else.
