I can't believe I'm gonna say this but... I'm starting to consider taking a break from Genshin and just go play Wuwa instead for once 😬
#abbey plays genshin impact#I've been just so uninterested with the whole Natlan region in general#Fontaine was gorgeous and had amazing characters#with unique personalities and all#but Natlan feels so... mid in comparison#it has some good things but it's just not the same#the new patch just arrived and I have no motivation to play it#not for the story nor the new characters#I'm sorry but I'm one of those people who absolutely hates Chasca and Ororon's designs 💀#I'm also not pulling for Mavuika even though I do like her#so yeah idk...#meanwhile Wuwa has Camellya now and she looks so good#plus maybe it's time to give the story a chance#people agree that it got a lot better#and it even won an award for that#I'll think this through but yeah I'm really considering it#playing Wuwa and coming back to Genshin when Furina's rerun comes#I mean man... The best thing about Italy and Europe is that linen just- exists here. I can go buy a shitty cheap 100% linen dress like I would go to Fry's and buy a shitty cheap 100% polyester dress in America. Absolutely revolutionary for my wardrobe. I can't actually buy wardrobe enhancements because I have a carry-on suitcase, but the fact I still have the option is amazing.
#I can't wear polyester because something about my sweat clings to the fibers. I can only wear >60% natural fibers. I've slowly been#weaning all poly out of my wardrobe. The restriction helps a lot preventing impulse buys; but here my impulse buy is only restricted by $$#i am absolutely not crying over the $350 linen women's suit jacket I saw :( UGH it was GORGEOUS and GREEN. I want a linen suit so bad#but honestly it's the kind of thing I should just spend a thousand on and get bespoke I think. It'd look better and feel classier#if you're spending that much money on a thick linen knit in the first place.#Okay tag essay: but can we talk about linen knit fabrics? I've seen so many beautiful linen weaves this weekend I'm losing my mind.#I think there was a kind of Tricot or Bird's Eye knit linen simple-curve dress that blew me away. The amount of work you can do with#two colors and a fashionable knit is insane. Then you wear a jacket over it and the linen is still light enough to wick away sweat but#heavy enough to look fashionable and stay flat. There's really this talented balance of texture that shines in linen. I love linen so much#Anyway! I should've made another post for this but none of these ramblings are important lol#I'm really tired after Anacapri. and dinner. Dinner was kind of dumb. There was confusion about what I wanted. We just wanted#appetizers to share but they gave me a whole plate of octopus. Which I feel bad about eating and don't like the texture after 10 bites.#So I had to give it to dad. I'm relistening to I am in Eskew at the same time as the Silt Verses come out and it's so fun seeing ideas introduced in Eskew resurface in TSV, like I just finished ep. 24 and the way the History Society works is so much like our new scary war saint!!! Obsessed
#i love you authors with frightening ideas coming at them from multiple angles#eskew productions you have my whole heart#both shows are obviously very different from each other but i absolutely love the wet gross meatiness of the horror in both#they're also both quite lonely shows imo#different types of lonely- David (saddest wettest little meow meow ever) is alone in a way Carpenter isn't#but Carpenter is so phenomenally lonely in a way that only seems to ho away when she is by herself#Falkner and Riyo are also pretty lonely people but to me it doesn't run as harsh as David and Carpenter#all this to say I adore these strange worlds and their stranger people and the gorgeous prose they're written in#another David/Carpenter parallel- being so deeply loved by a thing that loves wrongly#I'm trying to remember something i heard in a Jacob Geller video about the way houses love their people but they were not designed to love#and so they are haunted instead#anyway that's Eskew and the Trawllerman#also obsessed with the way Faulkner is fratricidally desperate for the Trawllerman to love him as well#and the way Riyo dismisses Eskew out of hand like she simply does not care for the City bc even though David hates Eskew#he cannot help it- he needs to be a part of Eskew he cannot let it go until the end#I'm insane. anyway#i am in eskew#the silt verses#tsv#i don't think there's an acronym for eskew

God the holidays were… I mean… Weird. I did have fun in places but overall, felt weird. It was very weird. However I did get to see a friend! Stayed till 11.30pm, arrived at 12. It was rather awkward with my mother sat right there, but what can you do. She seems upset that we’re not Together. But I swear! This guy is just me but with a moustache! I got to walk around and point at buildings and go “Did you know that in 17-something-hundred—“ and I had a rapt audience! He showed me how lime kilns worked when we walked by one! I love it!
It was really nice to see a friend and it was so so good to get out of this bloody awful place for a bit. I’m back now but at the very least my brother is in Germany and won’t be back for a few more days, so I’m safe there. But god. What a weird, WEIRD holiday.
