Sandra Hüller

Sandra Hüller è l’attrice tedesca più celebrata degli ultimi anni.

Talentuosa e intensa, algida e marziale, riesce a trasformare i personaggi che interpreta in figure centrali anche quando non lo sono.

Ha vinto l’Orso d’argento al Festival di Berlino, il Premio César e due European Film Awards come migliore attrice.

Nel 2023 è stata in concorso a Cannes con due film, Anatomia di una caduta, che ha vinto la Palma d’Oro e La zona d’interesse che ha vinto il Grand Prix della Giuria. Non era mai successo prima che le pellicole vincitrici dei due massimi premi avessero la stessa interprete, lei, per l’appunto.

Per Anatomia di una caduta, vincitore del Golden Globe 2024 come Miglior Film Straniero, che le è valso il premio César come Miglior Attrice e il secondo European Film Award, è stata anche candidata al Premio Oscar come miglior attrice protagonista, ai Golden Globe, Critics Choice Award e ai BAFTA. La zona d’interesse le ha portato la seconda candidatura ai BAFTA.

Più volte decretata attrice dell’anno da varie riviste specializzate, è molto apprezzata anche come attrice teatrale.

Nata il 30 aprile 1978 a Suhl, in Turingia, è cresciuta a Friedrichroda durante la Repubblica Democratica Tedesca, in una famiglia di insegnanti.

Ha iniziato a frequentare corsi e laboratori teatrali quando era ancora a scuola.

A 17 anni si è trasferita a Berlino per studiare recitazione, diplomandosi all’Accademia d’arte drammatica Ernst Busch nel 2000.

Ha mosso i suoi primi passi a teatro, prima in compagnie regionali e poi in Svizzera, dove nel 2002 è entrata a far parte della compagnia del Theater Basel.

Nel 2006 ha debuttato al cinema nel ruolo di Michaela Klingler in Requiem di Hans-Christian Schmid, che le ha portato l’Orso d’Argento per la miglior attrice. 

Nel 2008 è stata nel cast di Anonyma – Eine Frau in Berlin di Max Färberböck, a cui sono seguiti Amour fou (2014) di Jessica Hausner e Vi presento Toni Erdmann (2016) di Maren Ade, con cui si è aggiudicata l’European Film Award come miglior attrice.

Dopo essere stata la protagonista del film romantico Un valzer tra gli scaffali di Thomas Stuber (2018), l’anno successivo è stata diretta dalla regista Justine Triet in Sibyl – Labirinti di donna e da Alice Winocour in Proxima, a cui sono seguiti, I’m Your Man (2021) di Maria Schrader e Monaco – Sull’orlo della guerra (2021) di Christian Schwochow, ma soprattutto l’inglese La zona d’interesse di Jonathan Glazer, per il quale è stata candidata a un BAFTA come miglior attrice non protagonista.

Nel 2020 ha anche inciso un disco dal titolo Be Your Own Prince con Daniel Freitag.

Il 2023 è stato l’anno della sua consacrazione internazionale affrontando tre ruoli completamente diversi.

Nel giro di un anno si è presentata sul grande schermo in tre ruoli completamente diversi in Sissi & I, Anatomia di una caduta e La zona d’interesse. Nel primo film, interpreta la contessa Irma a Corfù, che affianca l’imperatrice Sissi e se ne innamora. In Anatomia di una caduta di Justine Triet, vivisezione di un matrimonio in crisi, è una scrittrice di successo in posizione sovrastante rispetto al marito, coinvolta nella sua morte. Ne La zona d’interesse, di Jonathan Glazer, è Hedwig Hensel, l’algida moglie del comandante di Auschwitz Rudolf Höss, che vive con la famiglia accanto al lager, di cui si ha percezione mentre lei cura le piante del proprio giardino, restando ossessivamente concentrata su di sé, sulla propria vita, su un idillio borghese e le relative aspettative, incurante di tutto ciò che le accade attorno.

Sandra Hüller è un’attrice magistrale, con la grande capacità di raccontare tutte le sfumature dei personaggi che affronta e recitare oltre che in tedesco, anche in inglese e francese.

Nonostante i successi internazionali, conduce una vita normale nel suo paese d’origine, esibendosi a teatro e provando a vivere lontano dai riflettori.
