first & foremost, jason todd is girl dad through and through. the moment he holds her for the first time, he recalibrates everything—speech, sleep, temper, priorities—without even realising he’s doing it.
he won’t dilute language for her sake. no sing-song voice, no “whoops-a-daisy!” crap. he speaks to her like a small, reasonably intelligent civilian. when she babbles near-nonsense in response, he nods seriously:
“interesting take. but you’re still not eating crayons.”
when she starts talking, she parrots him with terrifying accuracy. says “bullshit” in perfect context. he side-eyes you like “that might’ve been you” but it was 100% him. he starts substituting in dumb phrases like “holy fork” and “crud nuggets” which somehow sound even more offensive in his voice.
his gut wrenches every time he sees her hurt. no matter how small the injury, how quick the recovery .
“it’s okay to cry, you know.” “m’ not crying.” she sniffles hard, mouth twitching. he takes a breath, carefully brushing dirt from her elbow with the sleeve of his shirt. “…good. because if you did, i might have to start too.” her bottom lip quivers. then she throws her arms around his neck, sobbing into his shoulder while he holds her.
he gives her choices. always. because no one gave him any. ‘pink cardigan or the baby blue one? park or zoo? sandwiches cut into triangles or squares?’ she doesn’t know why the questions matter—not yet—but she answers anyway. and he always listens. even when she changes her mind five seconds later.
when she gets scared of the monster under her bed, jason grabs a crowbar from the hallway closet, locks himself in her room, and puts on a full performance. loud bangs, snarls, curses, all muffled through the door. she waits outside clutching your hand, wide-eyed. when he opens the door, slightly sweaty:
“we’re clear. monster’s in pieces. bedtime.”
absolutely watches disney movies with her. you once catch him mouthing along to i’ll make a man out of you with perfect accuracy.
her room is stocked full of high quality toys: watercolor paint sets, pop-up books, wooden animal figurines, everything he would’ve killed to touch when he was little.
when she gets sick, even the most minor of colds send jason into a tailspin. not outwardly though; outwardly he’s calm & reassuring—but he looking up symptoms and staying up beside her bed with one hand on her forehead, watching the rise and fall of her breath like it might stop at any second.
if you’re out for the day, he sends you hourly photo updates: her sitting in her booster seat, her eating grapes, her mid-nap with a book across her lap.
insists she learn how to throw a punch and memorize your phone number before she enters kindergarten.
she mirrors his sarcasm & sass too well.
you and jason have developed a “tag-team” parenting style—he picks up on your cues instinctively. if you’re too tired to argue with a picky toddler, he just whips up grilled cheese without a word and makes her think it was your idea.
and if she’s crying—inconsolably so—you both sit beside her and jason lets you do the talking. she always opens up eventually, even if it’s just, “i didn’t wan’ the poor banana to break.” (???)
she looooooves curling into him. a six-o kind of love, paired with matter-of-fact trust. she’ll press her forehead to his cheek while holding her sippy cup. tug at his sleeve when she wants to sit in his lap.
her vocabulary is way beyond her age. not just because of books; she mimics his cadence. jason once commented she was “morally opposed” to cauliflower. days later, she informed the pediatrician she was “philosophically anti-broccoli.” this had you laughing uncontrollably.
bedtime isn’t “lights out,” it’s literature hour! jason reads her stories with perfect enunciation and blunt dignity. she grows up on peter rabbit, winne-the-pooh, madeleine, and eventually segues to aesop’s fables, abridged dickens. the sound of pages turning becomes part of her core memories.
as her vocabulary progresses in a rapid fashion, jason still reads to her every night without fail: brontë. shelley. woolf. austen. he edits on the fly when needed, replacing death with long naps and violence with “stern talking-tos.”
four years of age, your little girl is already quoting jane eyre in front of her classmates.
she wins the spelling bee every year!
she told her entire kindergarten class that her daddy is an actual zombie, which resulted in an email from her teacher, regarding “concerns about her vivid imagination.” jason’s only response is, “technically, that’s not inaccurate.”
she loves all of her uncles, but it’s clear that uncle dick is her favourite. she likes him so much it’s borderline treason. jason pretends to be grumpy about it but secretly finds it endearing how much she adores his brother.
he can’t stand the thought of her going hungry. she’s never missed a meal, but he still packs too much in her lunchbox when it’s his turn. carries snacks in his glove compartment, keeps fruit cut up and ready in the fridge, just in case. he remembers what it felt like to open the fridge and find nothing but condensation. his little girl won’t ever know that.

the late afternoon sun filtered through the blinds in slatted gold, painting the apartment floor in soft stripes of warmth that stretched toward the kitchen. the air was quiet, too quiet, filled only with the faint hum of the fridge and the occasional creak of the wood beneath shifting weight. sunoo leaned against the counter, his posture casual but his expression anything but, the curve of a knowing smile tugging at his lips as he twisted the cap on a water bottle absentmindedly. across the room, jungwon sat curled up on the couch with his legs folded beneath him, his brows slightly furrowed as he glanced between sunoo and jake, sensing something was off. jake hadn’t said much since jungwon walked in—his arms crossed tightly over his chest, eyes unreadable as they lingered on the floor and then flicked up every now and then, like he was holding something back. jungwon couldn’t tell if it was tension or anticipation that made the silence stretch so long, but either way, he felt it crawling up his spine. finally, it was sunoo who broke it, sighing through his nose before speaking in a quiet but steady voice. “i’m just gonna say it—we’re all kind of losing our shit over the same girl.”
the words seemed to echo in the stillness, landing heavier than jungwon expected as he blinked, startled. he didn’t interrupt, didn’t even breathe for a second, just watched sunoo’s fingers trace along the ridge of the bottle like he needed something to do with his hands. “heeseung, jay—almost all of us and now me too,” sunoo continued, his voice softer now, tinged with something close to disbelief. “we’ve all worked with her. and i don’t mean just filmed with her—i mean something’s different. she’s not like the others.” jungwon stayed quiet, the room feeling suddenly too warm as the weight of their obsession unfolded in front of him, more real now than any of the quiet mutterings he’d overheard before. the tension that had been brewing in the background of their group dynamic now made perfect sense—the sidelong glances, the vague references, the sudden drops in conversation when he walked in. sunoo shifted then, the mood lifting slightly as he tilted his head, tone taking on a teasing lilt. “you should check her out, won. the subs have been begging you to collab anyway. might as well see what you’re missing.” something deep in jungwon’s chest stirred at the suggestion—not just curiosity, but something hotter, something restless. “maybe i will,” he muttered, barely above a whisper, before rising to his feet with a determined set to his jaw.
the hallway was cooler, dimmer as he padded quietly toward the room at the end, his heart picking up pace for reasons he didn’t want to name yet. he paused outside ni-ki’s door, knuckles tapping twice before he pushed it open without waiting for a response. the scent of fabric softener and faint cologne hit him first, followed by the soft glow of ni-ki’s laptop screen as he sat at his desk, eyes flicking up to meet jungwon’s with mild surprise. “i think i’m gonna do it,” jungwon said, voice quiet but steady, his fingers curling into the pockets of his hoodie as he leaned against the frame. ni-ki didn’t respond right away—just arched a brow, gaze narrowing slightly as he waited for more. “i want to collab with her,” jungwon clarified, and though he didn’t say your name, they both knew who he meant. “the guys are all hooked and… i want to understand why. i think it’s time i actually start doing this for real.” ni-ki leaned back in his chair slowly, a smirk playing on his lips, but his tone stayed calm. “you sure? that’s not just a toe dip—you’re diving in.” jungwon nodded once, resolve settling behind his nerves. “if anyone’s gonna get me to do it, it’s her.” ni-ki gave a slow shrug and turned back to his screen. “then go for it,” he said simply. “but let me know if she’s really as addictive as they say.”
jungwon lies in bed, the sheets rumpled beneath him, legs slightly tangled as he props his phone just above his chest, the glow from the screen casting a faint shimmer over his features. the room is quiet except for the low hum of his fan, and the soft golden light from his desk lamp spreads across the duvet, flickering every time he shifts his hand or thumb taps against the glass. he’s been thinking about it all day—about the way sunoo leaned back in his chair, half-sighing as he talked about you, about how real his words had felt even when said with a smile. it wasn’t just the teasing tone or the half-jokes about how you had all of them wrapped around your finger—it was something deeper, something that stayed behind long after the conversation ended. jungwon had seen it in their eyes too—that distant dazedness whenever you came up, like you were still in the room even after they left you behind. it haunted him more than it should’ve, the image of someone they all seemed unable to forget, someone they never even described in detail. it felt like they were guarding something, like they wanted to keep you for themselves, and that alone made curiosity bloom hot and anxious in his chest. he didn’t know why it was affecting him this way—but it was, and it wasn’t going away. so he finally gives in, fingers hovering only a second before tapping into his chat with sunoo, typing out the message quick and messy before the nerves could tell him not to.
“hey… what’s her username?”
and before he even locks his phone, his response comes back in a blink.
@babydollxo, just so you know her name is y/n
no hesitation, just the bare name like he’s handing him the last puzzle piece. his thumb hovers for a second before he clicks over to the site, breathing slowly through his nose as he searches the tag, chest already tight with anticipation. and when your page loads, it’s like something in him stills completely—no profile photo, no long description, just two videos and a name that shouldn’t feel this intimate, but already does. he doesn’t even realize he’s started biting his lip until he presses play.
the first video begins slow, barely lit, the frame hazy in a way that looks accidental at first—until he realizes every detail is intentional, curated to feel soft and close and personal. you’re on your back, hand between your thighs, the lighting angled low so that your skin glows in soft gold and pink, every part of you glistening under the faint shimmer of sweat. your voice is quiet but clear, breathy like you’re whispering directly into his ear, like he’s stumbled into something he shouldn’t be seeing, but now that he is, he can’t look away. your hips lift slightly with each circle of your fingers, your thighs trembling, and the camera stays still—clean, unshaken, perfectly steady as if it were made just for his eyes. his hand dips under your waistband without thinking, his fingers wrapping slowly around himself as the pressure builds low in his stomach. he strokes once, twice, syncing with the way your breath catches, matching your pace as you whimper something too soft to catch but loud enough to ruin him. he exhale shakily, eyes glued to the screen, and his hips twitch forward as you arches, moaning for someone that isn’t him—but still somehow feels like it could be. his thumb brushes over the head of his cock and he hisses, teeth gritting as he closes his eyes briefly, trying not to fall apart before he even gets to the second clip.he pauses, heart pounding, fingers slick with precum as he hovers over the next thumbnail, the preview showing just the outline of your thighs and the curve of your stomach. his breath is ragged now, chest rising and falling with a kind of urgency he doesn’t recognize in himself, and for a second he considers stopping—just waiting until tomorrow, until he’s more in control. but he can’t. not when he’s already this far, not when the tension in his body is wound so tight that it hurts to move slowly. he taps the screen again, the second video loading with a flicker, and this time your kneeling—closer to the lens, your eyes still out of frame, but everything else on full display. the way your fingers glide between your legs is slower now, almost teasing, like you know someone new is watching. he swallows hard, gripping himself tighter as your moans rise softly into the silence, echoing off the walls of his room like they were made just for him. his hips jerk into his palm and he bites down on a whimper, heat coiling deep in his stomach as your pace builds again, and he can’t stop the way his hand moves faster—matching yours, chasing the same high.
he can’t help it anymore—he whispers your name, not even realizing it had left his lips until the syllables echo faintly in the space around him, his body tenses and trembles as his orgasm builds fast, urgent, relentless. your voice breaks in the video just as his does in real life, and he fall over the edge with a gasp, head falling back against his pillows, hand still stroking through it as he rides the wave to its end. the screen starts to fade into black, the last frame frozen on the soft part of your lips, swollen and wet with the weight of your pleasure, and he feels dizzy—like he’s just stepped out of something too big for his chest. his breath evens out slowly, chest still rising, and he closes his eyes for a beat, letting the air settle before glancing down at your username again. @babydollxo. it repeats in his mind like a chant, like a craving, and even though he had just finished, his fingers twitch with the urge to open the messages. not for a follow. not even to tip. but to say something.
something that would make you look at him next.
the soft chime of your doorbell slices through the quiet of your apartment, jolting you from the stillness that had settled like dust around you. your laptop hums quietly from the couch, screen still open on a half-finished assignment, but your focus has already scattered as your bare feet move toward the front door with hesitant steps. when you pull it open, expecting maybe a neighbor or a delivery you forgot about, you’re met with an empty hallway—silent, untouched—except for the delicate bouquet resting against the doorframe like a secret left behind. your breath catches in your throat as you crouch to pick it up, fingers brushing over the velvety petals, the soft pastel shades blooming like a painting against the late afternoon light. it smells like warmth and something tender—roses, peonies, tiny sprays of baby’s breath—and nestled between the stems is a folded piece of paper, your name written on it in handwriting you didn’t recognize. you shut the door behind you as you step back inside, setting the bouquet gently on the kitchen counter before slipping your finger under the lip of the note and unfolding it with care.
i didn’t think one night could do this to me. but it did. maybe it was the way you said my name. maybe it was the way you didn’t treat me like i was just another collab—like i was someone worth seeing, worth touching slowly, worth remembering. i’ve watched the video more times than i should admit. not for the content, but because of the way i felt in it. with you. i want to know what’s behind the camera. i want to see you again—really see you. not to film. not to fuck. just to feel whatever this is, for real.
yours truly,
heeseung.
you read it again, slower this time, your chest tightening with every sentence, your hand flattening against the cool counter just to ground yourself, because it’s too much—too beautiful—and you don’t know what to do with it.
you stare at the flowers a moment longer, letting the scent and sentiment soak into your skin, before you’re pulled away by the buzz of your phone from the couch behind you. it vibrates once, sharp and sudden, and you move on autopilot, padding across the room with your heartbeat still fluttering against your ribs, unsure if you want it to be him again or if that would make it worse. but it’s not heeseung. it’s someone new—unexpected. your phone lights up with a new notification from a username that triggers something distant in your memory:
@wonsodirty
you stare at it for a second, blinking slowly as your thumb hovers over the alert, something curling in your stomach—not anxiety exactly, but something heavier, something curious.
wonsodirty: “hey… i’ve been thinking about something. want to collab?”
the words feel weightless and loaded all at once, the kind of casual that masks a storm underneath, and suddenly you're remembering the preview clip you watched when you first joined—him, soft-spoken but intense, his voice low and his eyes dark. you’d forgotten about him in the chaos of everything else, the whirlwind of heeseung, jay, jake, sunghoon and sunoo—but now here he is, quiet and unexpected, slipping into your inbox with a tension that coils low in your spine.
you don’t open the message right away. your fingers linger above your screen as you sink into the couch, the petals of heeseung’s bouquet still within view on the kitchen counter, their colors glowing softly under the golden hour light. it’s too much at once—too many emotions curling around each other, too many paths tugging at your sleeve. you press your phone to your chest for a moment, as if stilling the beat of it might still your thoughts too, but your heart only stutters harder beneath the weight of it. eventually, you unlock the screen and reread jungwon’s message, the simplicity of it making your breath falter in a way you didn’t expect. it’s not forward, not demanding—just thoughtful, tentative, like he’s trying to enter without disturbing something delicate. your thumbs hover over the keyboard as you try to decide how to respond, caught between the memory of his voice in that short preview and the softness you’d always sensed beneath it. finally, your fingers start to move, slow but certain:
“sure… i’d love to. when were you thinking?”
you hit send before you can second-guess it, the air still thick around you, and immediately, three dots bounce on your screen like they’ve been waiting there all along.
his reply comes almost instantly, and you can practically hear his tone in the way he types, every message carefully spaced like he’s trying not to overwhelm you.
wonsodirty: “is tonight okay?”
he asks, then quickly follows upwonsodirty: “if not that’s okay too, i just… want to talk to you. maybe plan something?”
it’s the second message that tugs at you—gentle, unsure, like he’s afraid of getting it wrong. and there’s something about it that makes your chest ache, because it doesn’t feel like someone reaching for content, it feels like someone reaching for connection. you tuck your legs underneath you, blinking at the flowers on the counter again before shifting your gaze back to your phone, your breath catching slightly when you read his next text.
wonsodirty: “i know this is random. but you’ve kind of been stuck in my head lately.”
it echoes too closely to the letter you just read, the one still folded neatly on your counter, and you close your eyes for a second, wondering what the hell the universe is trying to tell you. but when you open them again, you’re typing your address, fingers trembling slightly, a small smile pulling at your lips despite the confusion bubbling underneath.
“come over”
—-
the knock is gentle, barely louder than the hum of your thoughts, but it’s enough to pull you back to the present. your fingers twitch as you smooth the front of your shirt, brushing down fabric that doesn’t really need adjusting, and you let out a quiet breath that feels more like a sigh. your heart beats a little quicker—not out of fear, but something closer to nerves, anticipation folding into curiosity. you cross the room in slow steps, every footfall padded against the floor, and when your hand turns the lock and pulls the door open, everything halts. he’s standing there like he wasn’t prepared to see you, like your face caught him off guard in the most disarming way. his eyes catch the light, wide and almost sparkling, and his mouth parts slightly—no greeting, no hello, just a soft stunned silence that says more than words ever could. “come in,” you say gently, your voice soft with amusement, and his gaze doesn’t shift even as he moves forward, as if he’s still processing the fact that you’re real. the door clicks closed behind him, and you can’t help the quiet giggle that escapes you when he lingers there, stuck in place like he’s forgotten what he’s supposed to do.
he clears his throat awkwardly, the sound small in your cozy living room, and his eyes flick from the couch to the shelves to the soft throw blanket hanging off the side of the armchair. it’s like he’s memorizing everything, like the details of your space matter just as much as the way you looked when you answered the door. “it’s just me for now,” you offer, your voice filling the silence with a kind of casual comfort. “my roommate won’t be here tonight.” he nods, once, then again a little slower, as if your words need time to settle inside him. there’s a flush on his cheeks, barely there but unmistakable, and when his eyes finally return to yours, they hold something fragile. “i’m sorry for the way i’m acting,” he says quietly, almost like it’s embarrassing to admit. “you’re just so… pretty.” the words land soft but heavy, and for a second, neither of you moves—like the air between you has thickened with meaning, like this is the start of something that neither of you can take back.
you feel the compliment land somewhere low in your chest, warm and grounding, like the way sunlight lingers on your skin even after you’ve stepped into the shade. there’s a breathless kind of hush in the room now, not uncomfortable, but charged—like both of you are waiting for the other to move first. “thank you,” you say softly, the corners of your lips tugging upward, and when he offers you the smallest, most earnest smile in return, it makes your heart stutter. “do you wanna sit?” you ask, your hand motioning toward the couch, and he nods a little too quickly, like he’s afraid you might take the offer back. jungwon moves carefully, like he’s trying not to disturb anything, his shoulders stiff with the weight of being in unfamiliar territory—but when he finally settles beside you, he exhales like he can breathe again. there’s a moment of silence as your knee brushes his, just barely, and you see the way his jaw clenches before he dares to glance at you again. “i’m a little nervous,” he admits, voice low, almost apologetic, as he tugs at the hem of his sleeve like it’s a lifeline. “but i wanna do this... with you,” he adds, eyes searching yours, and something inside you softens at how genuine he looks—like there’s no performance, no script, just him wanting to be seen.
you turn to face him fully now, folding one leg beneath you, and rest your hand gently against his arm, grounding him with your touch. “you don’t have to be anything but yourself, jungwon,” you say, and you mean it—it’s in your voice, steady and sure, wrapping around his nerves like a balm. he breathes in deep, then lets it go slowly, his eyes fluttering closed for half a second before he opens them again, this time steadier. “i’ve never done this before,” he confesses, the tips of his ears flushing red, but there’s no shame in it—just honesty, unfiltered and laid bare for you to take or leave. “then we’ll go slow,” you assure him, your thumb brushing gently over his knuckles, and it’s that small touch that finally lets him lean into the moment instead of away from it. you lean in first, bridging the space between you without rushing it, and when your lips meet his, it’s tender and coaxing, like an invitation rather than a command. jungwon responds with the hesitancy of someone unused to being wanted like this, but his hands still find your waist, fingers pressing in as he starts to kiss you back, more sure of it this time.
you pull back just enough to see the soft flush blooming across jungwon’s cheeks, his eyes still heavy-lidded from the kiss, lips parted like he’s chasing the ghost of your mouth. “come with me,” you whisper, fingers curling around his hand as you rise to your feet, and he follows without question, the grip he has on you just tight enough to say he doesn’t want to let go. the hallway is quiet as you guide him toward your bedroom, each step thick with anticipation, the air between your bodies humming with the weight of everything left unsaid. once inside, you release him gently, letting him take in the space while you move toward the dresser and retrieve your small tripod, adjusting the angle to face the bed in soft lighting. he watches you silently, like every motion is a spell, and when you click the record button on, you glance over your shoulder to meet his gaze. “do you trust me?” you ask, voice soft but serious, and jungwon doesn’t hesitate—he nods, stepping closer, eyes steady as he says, “yes. i trust you.” the words settle deep in your chest, something grounding and intimate in the way he gives himself over to the moment without hesitation.
you walk to him slowly, closing the space between your bodies until your fingertips brush along the hem of his shirt, dragging upward with unhurried care as you ease the fabric over his head. his skin is warm beneath your touch, and when your palms glide up his chest, he shivers just slightly, breath hitching as your mouth finds his again—this time deeper, hungrier, filled with something that pulses between your ribs. jungwon kisses like he’s trying to memorize the shape of you, the rhythm, the taste—his hands resting at your hips, not pulling, just holding like he doesn’t want the moment to slip through his fingers. your fingers trail down his sides, nails skimming gently along his waist, and the way he exhales against your lips makes heat curl low in your stomach. you press forward until the backs of his knees hit the edge of the bed, and he sits without protest, eyes locked on yours with something close to awe. “you’re doing so good,” you murmur, brushing his hair back from his face, and his lips part, pupils blown wide as he whispers your name like it’s the only thing anchoring him to earth. you climb onto his lap slowly, knees bracketing his thighs, your lips grazing his as you whisper, “let me take care of you.”
your lips barely leave his for more than a breath before you're pulling him in again, letting the kiss grow slower, deeper, more consuming with every tilt of your head. jungwon trembles under your touch, his hands gripping your waist like you’re the only thing tethering him to earth, his breath hitching every time your tongue brushes against his. you can feel how hard he is through his sweats, the way he jerks faintly every time your body presses a little too close, and it only spurs you on—makes you kiss him harder, hungrier, your fingers threading through the soft hair at the nape of his neck. his hips twitch up into yours without meaning to, and when you moan softly into his mouth, he breaks—his fingers digging into your sides, a stuttered gasp leaving him as he whines your name against your lips. you feel the sudden warmth through the fabric, the way his body jerks again, overwhelmed, as he finishes just from the way you kiss him like he means something. his breath shakes as it catches in his throat, chest heaving as his eyes flutter open slowly, dazed and glassy and full of disbelief. “i’m so sorry,” he whispers, voice cracking with embarrassment, his cheeks flushing a deep, gorgeous red that creeps down his neck. but you only smile, brushing your nose against his and kissing the corner of his mouth like it’s the most natural thing in the world.
“don’t be,” you murmur, voice soft and warm as your hands cradle his jaw, grounding him. “that just means i’m doing something right.” jungwon swallows hard, blinking up at you like he doesn’t know what to do with himself now, but he still doesn’t let go—his hands slide up to your waist again, gripping like he doesn’t want you to move.
his brows twitch like he wants to say something more, maybe apologize again, but you hush him with a gentle kiss to the corner of his mouth, then another along his jaw. your fingers slide down his chest, slow and careful, feeling the way he shivers under your touch as you trail lower, past his stomach, to the waistband of his sweats. “can i?” you ask, your voice barely above a whisper, even though the room feels thick with tension already. he nods immediately, breath catching as he shifts his hips to give you room, his eyes glued to your hands like he can’t believe this is really happening. “i wanna make you feel good,” you murmur, and he swallows so hard it makes his whole throat jump, his body going still as your fingers dip beneath the waistband and tug gently.
he helps you out of your clothes as you help him out of his sweats slowly, letting them slide down his legs until he kicks them off the edge of the bed, his thighs trembling faintly with leftover tension. jungwon’s cock is already sensitive, the head flushed a deep pink and still glistening slightly from the mess he made earlier, and you lean down to kiss his inner thigh first, soft and slow. the sound he makes is quiet—just a shaky little exhale that leaves his lips parted, his head tilted back against the pillow as he watches you with wide eyes. your tongue traces a warm path up his thigh before you press another kiss just beside his length, and he twitches in response, his hand fisting into the sheets. “you don’t have to—” he starts, voice ragged, but you silence him with one look, your fingers wrapping gently around his cock. “i want to,” you say, firm and sure, and then you lower your mouth, letting your tongue flick over the head in one slow, teasing pass that has his hips jerking before he can stop them.
you hum softly as you take him deeper, your hand stroking what your lips can’t reach yet, and jungwon’s entire body tenses beneath you like he’s caught between pleasure and disbelief. “oh my god,” he whispers, his voice breaking on the edges of every syllable, his hand hesitating in the air before it finally lands on your shoulder, gripping softly. he’s trying not to move, trying not to buck into your mouth, but you can feel how hard it is for him to stay still—especially when your lips sink lower, your cheeks hollowing around him. his thighs tighten around your arms, his breath turning into these quiet, whimpering little gasps that make you want to push him even further. you bob your head slowly, keeping the rhythm steady, letting the suction drag heat up his spine with every pass. his fingers tighten against your shoulder, and his voice comes out broken when he breathes, “you feel—fuck, you feel so good.” and you glance up, eyes meeting his, just in time to see the way his lips part wider, completely undone.
jungwon’s hand trembles against your shoulder, fingers flexing like he’s trying to ground himself, to stop the overwhelming heat that’s rushing straight to his gut. you can feel it in the way his hips twitch beneath you, the way his thighs begin to shake as he whispers your name like a secret prayer, caught between panic and bliss. “w-wait,” he breathes, chest heaving as his voice cracks, “fuck, i’m gonna—” but the words never finish because your tongue swirls around the head just right and his whole body jolts like he’s been shocked. you ease up just enough to tease him again, letting your lips ghost over the tip with a hum, and his eyes roll back for a second before he clenches them shut. “i can’t… not like this again,” he stammers, his other hand fumbling to touch your wrist, to signal anything through the haze clouding his mind. “please… can i—can i be inside you?” he asks, the plea barely above a whisper but thick with yearning. you pause, blinking up at him as your hand strokes him gently, and the look on his face is one of pure need—desperate and soft and honest.
you release him with one last kiss just above his base, dragging your lips upward until they reach his stomach, pressing small kisses into his skin as you make your way back up to straddle his waist. jungwon’s hands rise automatically to hold your hips, his fingers splayed wide like he’s scared you’ll disappear if he doesn’t hold on tight enough. you smile down at him, your hair falling over your shoulder as you lean in to kiss him, slower this time, letting him taste himself faintly on your tongue. he moans into your mouth, his grip tightening, and you feel the way his cock twitches again beneath you, brushing against your inner thigh like he’s barely holding it together. “you sure?” you ask gently, your voice brushing against his lips like silk, and he nods so fast it makes your heart squeeze. “i want it,” he whispers, breath shaky, “i want all of it—please.” your fingers trail down his chest, feeling the way it rises and falls beneath your palm, and you shift your hips forward, dragging your folds slowly along his length. jungwon gasps, his hands flying up to cup your face, and you swear he looks at you like you hung the moon.
his cock presses right where you’re wettest, gliding through the slick mess of your arousal like it was made to be there, and he whimpers when you start to grind against him. “god, you feel unreal,” he breathes, like he’s still trying to believe this is happening, like his mind hasn’t caught up with the fact that you’re not just a screen anymore. you reach down between your bodies, guiding him to your entrance, and his eyes widen when the head catches, parting you just barely. “breathe,” you whisper, watching him fall apart beneath you as you sink down, inch by inch, feeling him stretch you open slowly. jungwon lets out a broken moan, his nails digging into your waist, and his brows pinch together like the pleasure’s almost too much. “you’re so tight,” he groans, voice cracking again, “fuck, i don’t wanna cum yet, i wanna feel you.” you cup his cheek, grounding him, and start to rock your hips gently, letting your walls flutter around him with every movement. his lips part again, and his head tips back against the pillows, pure ecstasy painted across his features.
his hands tremble where they grip your hips, the pads of his thumbs stroking slow, reverent circles into your skin as if trying to memorize every inch. jungwon’s chest rises and falls with labored breaths, the softest little whines slipping from his lips each time your hips roll forward and back again. the heat between your bodies grows thick, humid, his hair clinging slightly to his forehead as his eyes flutter open and closed—completely dazed by how good you feel wrapped around him. “you’re… s-so tight,” he stammers, voice barely holding together, “it’s like—like you’re pulling me in more every time, fuck.” your hands press flat to his chest, feeling the wild pace of his heartbeat as you move slower on purpose, watching his brows furrow and mouth fall open in the prettiest kind of agony. his lips form your name again, this time dragged out between moans, and you can’t help but clench around him just to hear the way his breath catches. “god, i’m not gonna last,” he admits, biting down on his lip like it’ll help, even though his body’s already trembling beneath yours. “you feel too good… you’re too perfect, fuck—i’m never gonna forget this.”
you reach up to brush your fingers through his hair, smiling when he leans into your touch like he’s starved for it, his eyes dazed and glossy as they meet yours again. jungwon’s hands slide up to your waist, holding you tighter like he’s scared this will vanish if he doesn’t ground himself to your body. “i dreamed of this,” he whispers suddenly, so soft you almost miss it, “i’d close my eyes and try to imagine what being inside you would feel like… but nothing ever came close.” your heart stutters in your chest, but you keep your pace steady, dragging your hips forward so slowly it has his jaw dropping open with a choked whimper. “i love how you look like this,” he continues, his voice cracking at the edges, “on top of me… taking control… you’re unreal.” you can feel him twitch inside you, every movement of your body pulling another gasp or broken curse from his mouth as he tries so hard to hold on. your fingers curl around his wrists, encouraging him to just feel, to let go of the tension clinging to his limbs. “you’re so beautiful,” he moans, his grip tightening again, “fuck—i’m gonna say it a thousand times if you keep moving like that.”
his compliments pour from him like he’s lost his filter, everything he’s ever thought about you spilling into the space between your bodies with no shame. he keeps his gaze locked on your face as best he can, even when his eyes go heavy-lidded from pleasure, like he doesn’t want to miss a second of the way you ride him. “i’ve never felt anything like this,” he says again, breathless, “i didn’t know it could feel this good.” your hips slow just slightly, enough to grind down harder and deeper, and he gasps, his head tipping back as his thighs twitch beneath you. “please don’t stop,” he begs softly, the words trailing off into a whimper when your nails drag gently down his chest, “you’re driving me insane, but i want more.” you lean over him, lips grazing his jaw, and he turns his head to catch your mouth in a messy, desperate kiss, moaning into it when you roll your hips just right. his cock throbs inside you with every movement, thick and twitching and so achingly full, and you can feel how close he is already—like he’s trying so hard not to fall apart under you too soon.
you pull away from the kiss just enough to see his face, to watch the way his eyes search yours like he’s trying to hold on to reality. jungwon swallows hard, sweat glistening along his neck, his hands sliding up your sides to cup your waist again like he needs the contact to keep breathing. “you’re all i want,” he whispers, almost like he doesn’t mean to say it out loud, “just you… right here, like this.” the admission makes your chest tighten, warmth blooming in your core as you move a little faster, taking him deeper with each thrust of your hips. his moans grow louder, more broken, as his legs spread wider, his toes curling into the sheets like he’s unraveling with every pass of your body over his. “fuck—please,” he pants, his voice pitching higher as he presses his forehead to your shoulder, “please, i’m so close.” you slow again just slightly, dragging it out, and the sound that leaves his mouth is so needy it has your stomach clenching with heat. “you’re gonna be the death of me,” he says between gasps, “but i’d let you ruin me every day if it means i get to feel like this.”
his body jerks beneath you, so sensitive and desperate, his hands now sliding up and down your sides as if grounding himself to the moment will keep him from flying apart. you shift slightly, circling your hips slower, watching the way jungwon’s head tilts back against the pillows, his lips parted in a soft, high moan that sounds like it’s being pulled from the deepest part of him. “please,” he gasps again, his voice trembling, “i’m gonna cum—i can’t—fuck, i’m so close.” but you don’t speed up, not yet, dragging it out just a little longer, watching his pretty face twist with frustration and pleasure so tangled they’re indistinguishable. your fingers stroke down the center of his chest, feeling his heart race under your palm, and he whines—an actual whine—as you tighten around him. “you’re so mean,” he breathes, but there’s no bite to it, only awe and heat and something that sounds dangerously close to love, “but you feel so fucking good, i’d let you do anything to me.” your lips find his again, slow and open-mouthed, your tongue curling against his in a kiss that has his hips jerking helplessly up into yours. he moans into your mouth, his entire body tightening beneath you, and when you finally start to move faster, his hands clamp down on your waist like he’s bracing for impact.
your pace grows steady again, rolling your hips down until you’re grinding into him just right—drawing out every sharp inhale and whimper that escapes his lips as he completely loses himself in you. jungwon’s eyes squeeze shut as his nails dig into your hips, his chest rising and falling so fast you can feel the heat radiating off him in waves. “fuck, fuck—i’m gonna—” he gasps, his words breaking off into a strangled cry as he presses his forehead against your shoulder, hips twitching beneath you. and then it hits him—his body arches, his mouth opens wide in a silent moan, and you feel him pulse deep inside you, thick warmth spreading as he finishes hard, completely undone beneath your touch. “oh my god,” he breathes, voice wrecked and trembling, “you—fuck, you feel like heaven.” his whole body stays tense for a moment before he finally slumps beneath you, chest heaving, skin flushed and damp with sweat. you brush his hair off his forehead gently, smiling when he blinks up at you like he’s still trying to process what just happened. “you ruined me,” he says softly, almost laughing as he says it, but there’s no regret in his voice—only wonder.
he blinks again, chest still rising and falling with shallow breaths, and you watch the way his lashes flutter like he’s on the edge of sleep already. “you didn’t even have to do anything crazy,” he whispers, his voice husky and slow, “just… kissed me. and i was gone.” you giggle under your breath, kissing his cheek before sliding your hand down his chest again, feeling the steady beat of his heart start to slow beneath your fingertips. he gazes up at you like you hung the stars, no trace of embarrassment—just awe, like he still can’t believe you’re real. “you’re amazing,” he says again, and this time it’s quieter, like it’s just for you. “i wanna do everything with you.” you can’t help but lean down again, your mouth brushing his as he sighs softly against your lips, completely soft now but still clinging to you like he never wants this moment to end.
his body is still warm against yours, his cheek resting on your chest as you both lie tangled together beneath the sheets, the room dim and silent except for the slow rhythm of your breaths. jungwon’s lashes flutter every now and then, like he’s drifting but fighting to stay awake, and you feel the rise and fall of his chest settle into something peaceful. your fingers thread lazily through his hair, combing back the soft strands that cling to his forehead, and he hums low in his throat—soothed, comforted, held. “i don’t want this to end,” he whispers suddenly, his voice thick with sleep but laced with something fragile, something real, as his arm curls tighter around your waist. you freeze just a little at the weight of the words, heart squeezing as your hand slows in his hair, your lips parting to respond but no words come out. he doesn't seem to notice your silence, only nuzzles closer, his nose brushing the space just beneath your collarbone before he lets out a breath that sounds like surrender. “you make everything feel calm,” he murmurs, quieter now, like he’s speaking into a dream, “like it’s okay to be soft here.” you press a kiss to the crown of his head, still unable to speak, because there’s something about the way he clings to you—not just with his hands, but with his whole body—that makes you want to hold him even tighter.
his thumb rubs slow circles into your side as his breathing evens out, and you stare up at the ceiling, your own thoughts unraveling like thread with every second that passes. you weren’t supposed to feel this much, not with any of them, and yet here you are—with your heart lodged somewhere between your throat and his sleepy voice echoing in your chest. you shift slightly, enough to tuck the blanket higher over his back, and he stirs only to let out a soft sigh, like your care wraps around him as much as the warmth of the bed. “you’re too good,” he says, almost inaudible now, and your eyes sting at the tenderness in his tone—because you know he means it, every word, every breath. your hand slides down to his back, fingers drawing idle shapes along his spine, and the comfort of it is mutual, grounding, like neither of you want to move or break the spell of this moment. but something inside you aches, because as perfect as this feels, you know it’s not simple—it’s messy and fragile and dangerous, and the more you try to pretend it’s not, the harder it hits. your throat tightens as the weight of it presses into your chest, tears prickling behind your eyes, and you don’t even know who you’re crying for—him, them, or yourself. so you close your eyes and hold him tighter, trying to memorize the feeling of this moment, even if you don’t know how long it will last.

Lost and found 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Part 2 of this storie.
Genre : request, fluff, oneshot
Pairing : Lando Norris x teacher!Y/N
The day after the Monaco Grand Prix, Y/N sat cross-legged on her tiny balcony, sipping lukewarm coffee and grading spelling quizzes from her students.
Her phone buzzed.
Unknown Number: You owe me one, remember? Still waiting for my “thank you” dinner, Miss Y/N.
Her eyebrows lifted.
Y/N: I’m sorry… who is this and how did you get my number?
Three dots blinked back almost instantly.
Unknown Number: A good magician never reveals his secrets. Let’s just say… you left quite an impression.
Y/N: Lando ? How did you get my number? Did Sara give it to you?
Lando : (Contact saved) You left so quickly yesterday, I didn’t get the chance to ask. And no, Sara didn’t give it to me, though I suspect she’d do just about anything to help my case It wasn’t that hard to find you. Monaco’s small. 😌
Y/N stared at her phone, heart doing a weird little skip in her chest.
Y/N: You could’ve just asked like a normal person. I guess I did already say yes to a date... No need to recruit a spy agency.
Lando : Well, Miss Y/N, I didn’t want to miss my shot. Besides, you disappeared into the crowd didn't have time to ask
Y/N: Sorry I ghosted. I had 20 kids to not lost again Which, by the way, went surprisingly okay. No one else wandered off. Not even Ella, and she’s usually one “Look! A butterfly!” away from vanishing.
Lando : Impressive. Gold star for you. ⭐ Also, congrats to me, I guess? For the race? Just wondering if you noticed I, you know… podiumed.
Y/N: Oh wow, did you race yesterday? I had no idea. It’s not like you had your face plastered across every surface within a 3-mile radius. 🙄 But seriously, congrats. That was epic.👏
Lando : Was waiting for you to say that. Thanks 😊 Felt good. Monaco wins always do. But you know what feels better?
Y/N: What? Your lap time? The smell of champagne on fireproof suits?
Lando : Having a date with a cute teacher.
Y/N: Smooth. Very smooth. Fine. I’m free Thursday night. But only if you promise not to bring any stickers.
Lando : Can’t promise that. Might be my signature move.
Thursday night in Monaco felt less like a date and more like something out of a movie. Warm golden streetlights cast long reflections over the marina, and the soft hum of distant music floated from open terraces. Y/N checked her phone for the fourth time, then shook her head and laughed at herself.
This is ridiculous, she thought. It’s just dinner.
But it wasn’t just dinner. It was a date. With Lando Norris. Race winner. Flirtatious chaos incarnate.
She was halfway through mentally rehearsing excuses just in case, when she spotted him.
He was already there, waiting outside the restaurant, dressed in a crisp white shirt and navy trousers, hands tucked into his pockets, curls slightly more tamed than usual.
And smiling at her like he wasn’t used to waiting, but would wait hours if she asked.
“Wow,” he said as she approached. “You’re… georgous. Really elegant tonight.”
She smirked. “You clean up okay too. No McLaren cap tonigh ?”
“I brought one,” he teased, patting his chest. “Emergency use only.,if a kid get lost again”
She rolled her eyes, but her smile betrayed her. “Let’s eat before you start handing them out.”
They were seated on a quiet terrace overlooking the water, the clink of glasses and the murmur of other diners providing just enough cover for nerves.
“So,” she began, folding her napkin, “when you’re not rescuing lost children and stealing phone numbers, how's is tour life like?”
Lando laughed. “Oh, just some light go-karting. On an international scale. No big deal.”
“I think I’ve heard of it,” she said dryly.
After a beat, he asked, “So what made you want to wrangle children for a living? Seems like you could do something far less… chaotic.”
She tilted her head. “Chaos is kind of my thing. Teaching’s exhausting, yeah, but it’s also... deeply rewarding. I love the curiosity, the little victories. And I love showing them something new. After the race, I had ten of them who wanted to do study downforce and tire compounds. Do you know how rare that is in a classroom?”
“Honestly?” he grinned. “Sounds like you’re raising the next generation of engineers.”
“I hope so. Or drivers. Or… I don’t know. Curious, kind humans.”
He watched her for a long second, then said, “You’re good at it, aren’t you?”
“I try,” she said, a little surprised by his tone.
“You are,” he said. “I saw how Sara looked at you. That wasn’t fear or just respect. She trusted you. And that doesn’t happen by accident.”
She felt her cheeks flush. “Careful, Norris. You’re starting to sound like a grown-up.”
He laughed, tilting his head. “Don’t get used to it. I’m usually a menace.”
“I figured,” she said. “Before I first met you, I honestly thought you were just some reckless, childish guy with too much confidence and not enough sense. I get enough of that during class.”
Lando clutched his chest, mock wounded. “Ouch. Harsh.”
“But fair,” she added.
He chuckled. “Okay, fine. You’re not wrong. I am childish sometimes. I like dumb jokes, fast things, and annoying my friends.” He paused, looking at her more seriously. “But tonight? I’m just trying to impress you.”
That stunned her into silence for a second.
She recovered with a soft smile. “Well. Consider me… mildly impressed.”
He grinned, but then she shifted the conversation again.
“You were so good with Sara. Not a lot of people know how to talk to kids. How are you so good at it?”
Something changed in his expression. He leaned back a little, fingers tapping lightly against his glass.
“I think…” he began slowly, “I think I just remember being that kid. The one who was obsessed with cars. Who lived and breathed racing. Who dreamt so big it didn’t even make sense. And if one of the drivers I admired had ever looked at me, really seen me and said something kind or just… paid attention? That would’ve meant everything.”
Y/N stayed quiet, letting him speak.
“So I try to be that guy now,” he said. “The one who makes space for those kids. Especially the little ones who look lost or overwhelmed. I don’t always get it right. But I try.”
She stared at him, moved. “That’s… honestly kind of beautiful.”
He shrugged, like brushing it off made it less vulnerable. “I mean, don’t tell anyone. I’ve got a reputation to uphold.”
“Your secret’s safe with me,” she whispered.
Their eyes met. Something shifted. The conversation slowed, deepened, turned into a soft current pulling them closer.
“So,” he said after a moment, playfully nudging her foot under the table, “how are we doing so far? Am I winning this date?”
She tilted her head, smirking. “You’ve avoided all major red flags. No chewing with your mouth open. No sticker bribes. A surprising amount of introspection.”
He grinned. “I’m saving the chewing-with-mouth-open for date three.”
She laughed, shaking her head. “Date three? Already making plans?”
“Just saying,” he said, leaning closer, his voice a little lower, “if tonight ends with a yes, I’m definitely asking you out again.”
“And what makes you so confident I’ll say yes?”
“Because,” he murmured, eyes warm, “you’re smiling like you already have.”
She stared at him, this sweet, clever, chaotic, unexpectedly deep man and realized… he was right.
“Maybe I am,” she said quietly.
The restaurant’s terrace had long since emptied, the soft clink of cutlery replaced by the hush of late-night Monaco. Lando offered to walk her home before she even had to ask.
They stepped out onto the cobbled street, the glow from storefronts casting gentle halos on the sidewalk.
“So,” she said, wrapping her arms around herself more out of habit than chill, “do you always go full gentleman after a race win?”
Lando glanced sideways at her, hands tucked casually in his pockets. “Nope. This is strictly VIP treatment.”
“Oh? And what exactly did I do to earn such an upgrade?”
He grinned. “Didn’t tackle me when you found out I was famous. That alone deserves flowers.”
She laughed, shaking her head. “I had a kid to chase. Didn’t have time for fangirling.”
“Exactly. You’re terrifyingly efficient. That’s very attractive.”
She smile and the space between them grow thiner, their hands brushing here and there.
They fell into step again, their pace unhurried, as if the night had conspired to slow down just for them.
Her apartment wasn’t far and when they reached her building’s steps, she turned to face him, one foot on the bottom stair.
“Well,” she said softly. “This is me.”
“I figured,” he said, glancing up toward the window with a small, almost boyish smile.
They stood there a moment, the silence between them full but not awkward. A good silence. A “neither of us wants to end this” kind of silence.
He rubbed the back of his neck, looking up at her. “So… I had fun tonight.”
“Me too,” she said, heart ticking faster now that it was just the two of them, the city dim behind them.
“You’re not what I expected,” he added, voice quieter now. “You’re smarter. Sharper. And a lot harder to impress.”
She tilted her head. “Is that a challenge?”
His smile was crooked. “Maybe.”
She took a step down, so they were on the same level now, barely inches apart.
“You’re not what I expected either,” she admitted. “I thought you’d be all ego and reckless charm.”
He held up his hands in mock surrender. “To be fair, that is most of my personality.”
She chuckled. “But tonight you were kind. Thoughtful. Gentle.”
His expression softened, like she’d touched something just under the surface.
“I told you,” he said. “I was trying to impress you.”
“You did,” she said quietly. “You really did.”
The air between them changed, warmer, slower, like the universe had just given them a moment to breathe.
Lando leaned forward slightly, his voice barely above a whisper. “Would it be crazy if I kissed you right now?”
She blinked, heart now firmly lodged somewhere in her throat. “It might be.”
“But would it be wrong?”
Her answer came in the form of her hand reaching up to lightly touch his chest, steady, quiet confirmation.
He didn’t rush. He leaned in slow, his hand brushing gently along her jaw like he was still waiting for a sign to stop.
And when their lips finally met, soft, certain, and warm, the world around them faded entirely.
It wasn’t fireworks or a movie crescendo. It was better.
It was real.
He pulled back first, just slightly, lips still close, breath warm against her skin.
“I’ve been wanting to do that since the paddock,” he murmured.
She smiled, eyes still closed for half a second longer. “And you did good not kissing me in front of one of my student.”
“Noted,” he said. “But I can’t promise anything.”
She laughed, then stepped back, just enough to let the space settle.
“Goodnight, Lando.”
“Goodnight, Y/N.”
He waited until she slipped inside the building, still wearing that small, dreamy smile, then turned, hands in his pockets again, and walked into the Monaco night like the happiest man alive.
A month had passed since that night on the cobbled street outside her apartment, the night he’d kissed her like she was something fragile and electric all at once.
Since then, Lando and Y/N had slipped into something almost like a relationship. Late-night texts turned into coffee the next morning. Long FaceTime calls after his flights blurred into afternoons spent wrapped up on her couch, his head on her lap, her fingers brushing absentmindedly through his curls as they talked about things he didn’t usually let people hear.
He liked this quiet life with her. The slowness. The steadiness.
And though they hadn’t labeled anything, he was sure of what it was becoming.
He was falling for her.
Every time she laughed, every time she told a story about one of her kids with that glowing kind of fondness in her voice, he fell a little harder. It terrified him, in the best way.
Still, doubt crept in around the edges.
Would she really want him? The guy who lived out of suitcases, who flew to different time zones like it was just another grocery run? The one with microphones shoved in his face, rumors written in headlines, and fans who treated privacy like a joke?
Would she want to build something real with him, when her whole life was rooted in structure, patience, and carefully timed snack breaks?
Maybe.
And maybe not.
But today, he was going to find out.
He stood outside the school gate in Monaco, holding a slightly lopsided bouquet of tulips and daisies, the kind that looked somehow perfect for her. No reason, just because. Because she deserved flowers. Because he needed a little courage.
The plan had been simple: she’d told him she was free after class, and he offered to pick her up. But as the bell rang and parents trickled in, she still hadn’t appeared.
Inside, something colorful caught his eye through the half-open door to her classroom.
Ten kids remained.
Not in detention, in full, chaotic, unfiltered enthusiasm. They were gathered around her like she was a celebrity and a saint all at once, waving their drawings in her face with joyful urgency.
“Miss Y/N! Look! I drew your car with rocket boosters!”
“Miss, I made you getting married, look, I draw the dress!”
“I drew a giraffe. I like giraffes.”
Y/N knelt between them, laughing, holding each drawing like it was a museum piece.
“Oh wow, Maxime, that’s a very powerful rocket car. I’m not sure if it’s road-legal, but the shading is amazing.”
“Anna, this… is deeply concerning, but also? Very creative.”
“And Baptiste,” she smiled, holding up the giraffe. “Honestly? That’s the best one of the bunch.”
Lando leaned on the doorframe, still unseen, his heart punching hard against his ribs.
God, she was good at this.
He caught sight of Lara, the little girl from the paddock, now missing a front tooth and holding a drawing of what looked like a very abstract race car.
He smiled.
One day, he’d have to thank her properly.
Then one of the kids spotted him.
“MISS Y/N,” a small voice squealed. “LOOK! HE’S HERE! YOUR BOYFRIEND IS HERE!”
Y/N froze. All heads turned.
Lando straightened from the doorframe, holding the flowers like they might shield him from a stampede.
And it was a stampede.
“Oh my gosh, it’s the papaya driver!”
“Lando! Lando, do you drive to school?”
“Are you rich? How fast can you go? Do you have a yacht?!”
“Why are you here?”
“Can you sign my drawing?”
Amid the chaos, Y/N stood slowly, face bright red, one hand rising instinctively to her temple like she was bracing for impact.
She looked at Lando across the sea of tiny bodies.
He didn’t say anything. He just smiled.
And held out the flowers to her.
Her breath caught.
She took a step, then another, until she reached him. Her fingers closed around the stems.
“Hi,” she said, quiet and slightly breathless.
“Hi,” he replied, grinning like a complete idiot. “These are for you.”
She glanced down at them, then up again, some soft understanding blooming in her expression.
“Thanks,” she said. “They’re… really nice.”
One of the bolder kids shrieked, “IS HE YOUR BOYFRIEND OR WHAT?”
Silence fell.
Y/N looked at Lando.
He didn’t hesitate.
“Well,” he said, not loud enough for all ten kids to hear but she did, his eyes never left hers, “I’d like to be.”
She blinked, startled by the clarity of it.
He stepped closer, speaking now just for her.
“I know I travel a lot. I know my life’s a mess. But when I’m not racing, I want to be here. With you. Because this? Us? It’s the only thing lately that feels like home.”
Her eyes softened. A slow, unshakable smile curved her lips.
“Well,” she said, voice warm and amused. “I guess you are now, my boyfriend I mean.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
Behind them, the kids erupted.
“I KNEW IT!”
“I told you she liked him!”
“Wait, are they gonna kiss now?”
“EW, GROSS!”
Y/N turned, laughing. “Alright, okay, okay! Everyone, backpacks on, we’re leaving! If you behave, maybe he’ll sign your drawing next time!”
The kids squealed in delight.
Lando leaned in as she gently ushered them out the door. “Was that a threat or a promise?”
She turned to him, eyes glittering. “You’ll find out.”
And when the last child finally left and the hallway quieted, he looked at her again, still smiling like he couldn’t believe his luck.
She held the flowers a little tighter, leaned in, and kissed him, quick, certain, unmistakably his.
“That,” she whispered, “was definitely a promise.”
And this time, there were no more questions left to ask.

[ SERIES MASTERLIST ] // [ MAIN MASTERLIST ]
Tumblr media
You like to think of yourself as a reasonable person. You make okay decisions, even though it takes you a few weeks and a thousand debriefs. You can’t buy something off the rack without going through 10-year-old posts on Reddit, and you certainly are very keen with people you let into your life – given your two to three friends.
The point is, while you may be a bit of a klutz, you take your adult life kind of seriously, and especially your relationships.
You were so sure that what happened back at the motel with Jungkook when you were stranded was going to be this whole… one-time-thing. That you both were just horny, stuck in a weird situation, just heat-of-the-moment lapse in judgment, and afterwards he would tell you to forget about it. And if he did, you’d accept it. It might crush you a little bit inside, but you know you’ll be fine to keep going on with your life even though that might have been the best orgasm you’ve had since forever and you’d like to experience it again.
What surprised you the most wasn’t that it happened. It was how you felt the next morning.
There was no regret.
When you opened your eyes – bleary and barely awake because of the little hours you got in – Jungkook wasn’t in bed. He was coming back through the door with a bag of pastries and coffee from what you assumed was the local bakery. He told you everything was handled, his car and your stuff, and you could take your time getting ready. You’d head back once you were set.
You fell asleep again on the ride home. Jungkook walked you to your apartment and bid you a kind smile when you said goodbye.
And nothing happened after. No awkward texts. No slow fade. And you were just so ready for the worst thing to happen. Like him suddenly going MIA on you or something…
But now it’s the day after, and you’re together again in his car after he texted you to ride with him on the way home after work – cramped up in the driver’s seat with you on his lap.
Frantically making out.
“Oh,” you let out a soft moan, carding your fingers through Jungkook’s hair, not even caring about how you’re messing up his hairdo.
A needy, impatient sort of heat builds between you two. His mouth is on yours, hands exploring like he couldn’t decide where to start. Another moan slips out from you he cups the swell of your ass through your trousers, and a rush of frustration bubbles up in your chest.
God, why didn’t you wear a skirt?
“You smell good,” Jungkook murmurs into your neck, kissing a slow trail up to your jaw before groaning as you rock against him, grinding against the growing bulge pressing up through his slacks.
“Y-yeah?” you mumble, tugging at his tie and popping open the first three buttons of his shirt. Your fingers graze his chest, warm and solid and stupidly inviting.
“This is the scent you wore back at the party.” He untucks your blouse from your waistband, his warm hands sending shivers down your spine when they travel across the span of your back.
Yeah. And also the scent you exclusively use for special, big occasions. Because in the true broke girl tradition, there’s always that unreasonably priced perfume you keep in your vanity while you spritz the hell out of the cheap one. You’ve only used it a total of ten times ever since you bought it a month ago, the eleventh time being now… which is just a regular day in the office.
But being in Jungkook’s lap and making out with him in his car is not regular day in the office. So maybe you lucked out on spraying that expensive perfume – totally because it was just there on your vanity, by the way – and not because you were expecting something to happen today.
Totally.
“Uh, yeah,” you shift on his lap. “It was on sale.”
Which is probably information he did not need and a total bald-faced lie.
He hums, kisses dropping down to your sternum, hands getting heavier under your clothes. You take his face in your hands again to press your mouth on him, your moan getting swallowed by his eager reciprocity, both in the movement of his tongue inside your mouth and his erection that’s making you wet your panties as you rock your hips against him.
Jungkook’s fingers trace the cups of your bra. “Can I?” He asks, mouth agape. You don’t even know what he meant, you just nod. A second later and he’s squeezing your breasts in his palms.
“S-so you wanted to drive me home for this?” you arch your brow at him playfully, grinding against his lap and relishing in the warmth of his hands on your chest. God, you wish he’d do something about your bra soon.
Jungkook chuckles, nipping your jaw. “No. I wanted to ask you to come over to my place to have dinner.”
As if that triggered your intestines, your stomach suddenly growls – quite loudly in the confined space of his car and around the quiet parking lot of the building.
Jungkook freezes, staring at you.
You shut your eyes close in embarrassment, groaning. “Ugh, sorry. I haven’t eaten at all today and you mentioning dinner is making me remember that.”
“Oh…”
Jungkook reluctantly watches you as you carefully leave his lap, completely halting your previous activity. He grips your hand as he helps you transfer to the passenger’s seat, looking at you as you put your hair up and tuck your shirt.
He adjusts uncomfortably in his seat, clearing his throat. You can’t help but eye the very obvious outline of his dick in his pants, and it’s very huge, alright, making you grin.
“I hope that’s not gonna be a problem.”
Jungkook takes in the mischief in your eyes and scoffs playfully, shaking his head as he starts the ignition to drive.
Tumblr media
You spend about thirty minutes in the shower – which is definitely not at all your usual routine – but it did the job. You smell like raspberries now, and the outfit you pulled on afterwards looks casual enough for Jungkook not to suspect what’s going on underneath. Just an oversized shirt and pajama pants. Innocent. Normal.
But you have on a lacy pair of white thong… just in case something does happen tonight. At least you’re the least bit prepared…
When you look at your phone, it’s already 10:15pm, and Jungkook told you to be over at his place at 10:20. You check yourself in the mirror one last time and head straight to the kitchen where you grab the plastic container of a batch of choco-chip cookies you baked the second he dropped you off earlier.
You’ve perfected the recipe now, you’re sure of it.
But just as you make a beeline for your door, a sudden warmth gushes between your thighs.
An all too familiar feeling by now.
Oh no.
You dash to the bathroom, tug your pajama pants down, slide off your panties and – yep. There it is. A bright red stain against the flimsy white fabric that went right through the pants.
“Goddamn it,” you mutter, frowning. Of all the nights to get your period, of course it had to be this one.
You had showered. Prepped. Put on the g-string. And you were this close to maybe – possibly – having sex with Jungkook. You hadn’t said anything about it, not outright, but come on. That impulsive make-out session in the car earlier? The way he kept adjusting himself? The tension practically humming between you?
Yeah, something was definitely going to happen.
Well, probably not anymore.
Grumbling, you toss your pants into the laundry and rummage through your cabinet for a pad. You move like you’re trudging through emotional mud, begrudgingly pulling on a clean pair of a less sexier granny panties and fresh bottoms.
So much for that.
It’s not like you had any of this figured out anyway. No “so, what happened” talk, no conversations about the night at the motel or whatever is… happening now. And now your uterus has decided to sabotage you. Amazing.
Still, cookies in hand and spirits only mildly deflated, you head out of your apartment and make your way to Jungkook’s porch.
He opens the door on the second buzz, greeting you with a grin that makes your stomach flip. Even more so when you realize he’s wearing sweatpants. Grey sweatpants. Ugh. This man.
“Hi.”
“Hey, come in,” Jungkook says, eyeing the plastic in your hand. “What’s that?”
“Cookies.” you bring it up to your chest. “I made them real quick so it’s not a lot. But I can assure you it’s better now and you definitely won’t get food poison.”
He chuckles, leading the way to his living area. “You say that as if I got food poisoning the first time.”
“Maybe you did and you just didn’t tell me.”
He shakes his head, still smiling. “You know you didn’t have to bring something, right?”
“Uh-huh.,” you mutter, following him in, “but since you’re making dinner, I thought I could take care of dessert.”
The moment the words leave your mouth, your face scrunch up.
Jungkook pauses just long enough to glance back at you, amused, before shaking his head again with another soft laugh.
What? What did he think you meant by that? Geez…
Tumblr media
Comfortable silence settles between you, the soft clinking of wine glasses and the distant narration of some random BBC documentary filling the space. You teased Jungkook again about his massive TV – said the faces look so big that it’s just kind of funny – but really, it’s kind of cute the way his ears flush red when he gets shy talking about his stuff.
You talk. About work, mostly. Jungkook’s been pulling longer shifts, taking on more than usual. You tell him about your days have been the same lately, just mindless repetition. He compliments the cookies you brought, and after a bit of coaxing, admits the first batch you made for him weeks ago were kind of bad. You laugh and pretend to be offended.
It was nice.
Somehow, you talk about everything and nothing. Not once either of you mentioned the motel. Not the kiss in the parking lot. Not even a vague nod to the tension that’s been following you around like a ghost.
And maybe that’s the problem.
It feels like Jungkook’s waiting for you to jump the gun first. But how the hell are you supposed to do that? How do you casually bring up the fact that he kissed you like he meant it? How exactly are you going to talk about the night you shared a kiss with the man you think you’ve liked for so many weeks now? How are you going to talk about how he made you orgasm to sleep because it was the best you've ever had since and it was so much better than the scenarios you’ve made up in your head? And god, those scenarios didn’t even live up to the very real thing.
You want to bring it up. God, you need to. Not because you’re hopeful that this night would lead to something – but because you just need to know if he would want to do that again sometime.
But something in you is scared that Jungkook will suddenly speak up and tell you the night was a mistake and you both should get over it.
But you also know that kiss in the parking lot must’ve meant something. The way you just jumped at each other like you weren't in a public space and Jungkook not minding one bit must’ve meant that he wanted it too.
That maybe, just like you, he can’t help but notice the thick tension up in the air as you sit on the couch so close to each other, his familiar scent overwhelming your senses, and the way he looks so cozy in his white shirt and… grey sweatpants. Ugh. You swear you weren’t going to pay any attention to it as soon as he opened that door, but how could you not when he just looks way too effortlessly good and you know exactly what it's hiding–
“You want some more?”
Your thoughts are cut short when Jungkook suddenly speaks, looking at your wine glass.
“Uh…” you glance at the clock. “No, I should probably get going. It’s almost 11. I have work tomorrow– we have work tomorrow,” you chuckle awkwardly, glancing at the wall clock across the room.
Just like that, you go back to your shell again, overwhelmed by your anxiety and fear of rejection.
But for a brief second, Jungkook looks disappointed by your response, although he’s quick to wipe that off with a smile.
“Okay. I’ll walk you out.”
Okay. Well maybe you didn’t really want him to say that at all.
Hiding your disappointment this time, you stand up from the seat and let Jungkook talk you into leaving the wine glasses on the coffee table as opposed to bringing it to the kitchen yourself, as Jungkook insisted he’ll take care of it once you leave.
Jungkook’s hand lingers on your lower back as you stand by his door, ready to say goodbye.
“Thanks for the dinner.” you say quietly.
“You’re welcome,” Jungkook smiles. “We can do this again sometime.”
“Sure. Why not?”
“Alright. See you tomorrow, then?”
You halt your steps, lips curling into a half-smile. “That flatters me.”
Jungkook leans on the doorframe, crossing his arms across his chest. “I was hoping so.”
You bite back a grin, nod, turning to leave. But…
“__—”
“Jungkook—”
Your head snaps quickly to his direction, and you both stare at each other in surprise. Jungkook’s gaze melts into a soft look.
“You first.”
“No, you first.”
“___,” he says with a chuckle, coaxing.
You take a deep breath, bracing yourself.
Just take the chance, something in your head tells you.
And you took the bait.
“This is going to sound incredibly stupid,” you start, voice low and hesitant. “but what happened back at the motel — I’m not sure if we’re allowed to talk about that again — but we kind of kissed this afternoon and I… I don’t know what that meant. I guess what I’m trying to say is… I wanna do it again sometime. If you’re willing,” you voice wavers, trying to look into his eyes but the weight of your words crawl deep in your skin it makes you scared to even make eye contact. “But if you’re not, then that’s totally fine. We can forget it happened.”
Silence stretched for a beat too long. Panic starts to rise in your chest – until Jungkook steps forward.
“If I’m willing?” He echoes, blinking like he’s not sure he heard you right.
You nod, wary. “Y-yeah…?”
He steps closer, and your breath catches.
“Do you know how much I’ve thought about you since then?” He takes a tentative touch to your hips, and when you don’t say a thing or make a move to pry him off, Jungkook takes a hold of you to pull you closer, making you gasp quietly. “Everytime I close my eyes, all I can think about is how I’ve held these hips as I licked you, kissed you, and touched you. I’ve never been one to give in to my wants as easy as the way you made me when we walked back to my car this afternoon because all I wanted to do was to have a taste of you again, even though I would’ve liked for us to talk first. That means I can’t have enough,” Jungkook studies your face as he leans down, gaze so full of want, but there’s a certain control under his hold. It makes your breath hitch.
“And you want to know if I’m willing?” Jungkook tacks on, lifting his hand to caress your cheek, gaze dropping from your eyes to your lips. You anticipate his next words, but when he presses you closer – that’s when you feel it. The hard-on he’s sporting under the grey sweatpants you’ve been fantasizing about ever since you walked in on his apartment.
“Oh…” you gasp, reaching for his shoulder as you feel your knees slightly buckling.
Then, Jungkook chuckles, amused. But it’s dark and rich, and his boner is still very much pressing to your stomach.
In the heat of the moment, you stand on your tippy toes and kiss Jungkook.
He seems to be surprised at it first, but his arms slowly make their way around you to hold you as you tighten yours around his neck, letting out a soft moan when his tongue prods in.
You stumble inside, Jungkook walking you back inside his apartment all the while not breaking the kiss, and the next thing you know, he’s kicking off the door shut, hands travelling down to your legs to carry you across his apartment.
You yelp at the sudden way your feet get lifted off the ground, but Jungkook carries you with a certain grace as if you’re nothing but paperweight – hot tongue swirling around your mouth like kissing you was a lifeline.
He lays you down gently on the couch, trailing kisses along your jaw. When you grab at the hem of his shirt, he sits back to quickly rid himself off the material.
You bite on your bottom lip as soon as you see what’s on display. Wide chest, narrow waist, toned abdomen, and sculpted arms with ink. You would’ve liked to admire it more but Jungkook quickly goes back to kissing you after taking off his shirt, hands roaming all over your body as if he can’t quite decide where to put it at all. Then, he kneels in between your spread legs, slowly settling himself down on the floorboards. You watch with half-lidded eyes as his lips leave trail kisses down your neck to your sternum, until his hands slide your top off your stomach, kissing the exposed skin.
Your hands settle on his soft locks, where you admire the way he moves down your body, huge hands splayed on your skin, making you ache in between your legs.
Your eyes blow out as you remember exactly what’s in between your legs.
Fuck.
Before Jungkook can kiss you there, you grab at his shoulders. “Jungkook,”
He looks up quickly, fringe going in different directions, biceps unconsciously flexing at your touch. “Hm?”
Even though it pains you, you tell him, “We can’t tonight…”
“Ah, that’s alright,” He looks up at you in genuine concern. “You’re not feeling okay tonight?”
You shake your head. “No… that’s not it,” You make a face, feeling annoyed all over again. God. Hot sex was on the table. And your period just ruined it. “I got my period. My cycle usually starts at the end of the month.”
Jungkook nods in realization, squeezing your hips in understanding.
“Sorry, then. Should I get you something? I think I may have ice cream in the fridge.” He raises a brow, eyes drifting off to his kitchen.
You take his cheek, grabbing his jaw gently to make him look at you.
“Actually… I was thinking we don’t have to stop.”
His eyes may have lightened up, and Jungkook takes your wrist to press a kiss to the side of your hand.
“Yeah, I don’t really mind as long as you’re comfortable with it. We’ll put on a towel— okay, I can see on your face that’s not what you meant.”
“No…? I was thinking I’ll give you a blowjob instead.”
“Ah…” Jungkook nods again. “Are you sure? Don’t you have cramps?”
You chuckle. “Not yet. It’ll kick in on the second day,” You nudge him with your foot. “Come on up here.”
“You’re sure? We don’t need to do anything, baby,”
Baby. God. That nickname had always been so generic but there’s something about the way it rolls off Jungkook's tongue.
“I’m sure.”
Jungkook gives you one of his million dollar smiles and kisses his way back up until your lips meet again.
“Can I?” You nod when Jungkook tugs at your shirt. With your permission, he slides your top off, hissing at the sight of your bra-cladded chest.
He goes down to lick your nipple through the material, and you grab his hair when you feel him give you a slightly harsh nip. He licks it again, as if offering some sort of silent apology.
When he pulls the cups down, that’s when you push him to the side making him fall to the couch, and you take that time to kneel down this time in between his spread legs.
“Put this on your knees first.” Jungkook hands you the throw pillow on the couch. You take them and fluff them under your knees, and when you finish doing that, you attend to Jungkook’s very taunting grey sweatpants, tugging it off him. He helps you slide the pants off together with his boxers – and you have to fight the urge to take it slow when his hard cock springs free.
You’ve seen it before, have held it – but those moments felt so brief that they almost didn’t feel real. So when you see it up-close, so girthy and standing tall against his abdomen with the angry red tip slightly leaking, your breath gets caught up in your throat.
“Fuck,” Jungkook lets out a low groan when you begin teasing kisses to his thighs.
His gorgeous, thick thighs.
God… you wonder how it would tense up with your feet resting on them as you bounce up and down on his huge cock.
But you watch the way they clench when your lips get nearer to where he aches; watch as they tense under your touch when you place your hands there. And you watch Jungkook – most especially – as he looks down at you with hooded eyes, dark with want, his chest heaving under the tension.
“Is this what you want?” You ask, blinking at him meekly. His mouth opens to speak, but you don’t let him say another word as you let a glob of saliva fall down to the crown of his cock. You adjust your position in between his thighs, getting more comfortable but also pushing your ass out as you wrap your hand around the base.
Jungkook hisses when you twist your hand, gingerly spreading the wetness of your saliva around him. He lets his back fall to the back of the couch with a light thud, and you smirk when you see his abs clench.
“You’re killing me here, __. Don’t tease.”
You give him a non-committal hum. You meant to tease, but touching him like this feels like all your thoughts have suddenly gone to mush, and you’re left with only want – the want to pleasure him, to get him to let out those little huffs and grunts like when you two kissed…
You languidly move your hand around his shaft, humming at the way his tip oozes out more wetness which makes it easier for you to stroke him. You can’t help but watch in fascination as he seems to continue to grow around you. So hard and veiny… almost needy, the way he breathes heavily above you.
“Baby, fuck… you’re so pretty, god—” Jungkook’s words get cut off when you lean down to close your lips around the head, sucking at the softer tip before you take more of his length. “F-fuck…” Jungkook rasps, fingers gathering your hair in a makeshift ponytail when you start bobbing your head up and down.
He feels big. Warm. But you smile to yourself when Jungkook shifts on the couch at the sensation. It felt good to have him squirming like that beneath your touch, to have him keening like this.
Gripping the base, you twist your fingers around the remaining length you couldn’t put in your mouth, jacking him off. From there, you start picking up your pace until Jungkook’s a panting mess. You’ve never pegged him as the type to be so… vocal. But it felt good, and at this point, you just want to see him let go of himself, even as he grips your hair tighter by every second that passes. It didn’t hurt enough to be uncomfortable, the force was just right – and it felt like he’s holding on to every muscle of his to not use too much force on your head by the way you can feel his other hand hovering over your hair.
“Ah, __… baby, shit. Yeah, you’re taking my cock so well– shit…”
You pump him faster, and every now and then, you would suck at the tip gingerly, kiss the veins around his rock hard dick, roam with your tongue, and test the waters and massage his balls. Soft groans escape past his lips, hips arching off the couch.
“Shit— baby, fuck,”
You hum, pleased with that. Your tongue teases the underside of his cock with every downstroke, just to hear him swear. You lick off the glistening juice off the head, lick around the ridge, and tighten your grip around the base, sinking your mouth up and down faster.
“God, your mouth is–aghh– Jesus fuck baby I’m gonna–”
You slurp noisily around his cock as you try to take him deeper – and at one point you actually feel him hitting the back of your throat but you were careful enough to adjust your angle and continue to suck him up and down. Jungkook’s gasps increase in speed and pitch, and you can feel him trying to get you off him when he tries to pull your face away from his lap.
“Baby, you gotta–”
But you don’t even let him finish that thought when you grip his thigh with your other hand, sucking his head that gets him keening again.
“Shit, shit, shit __ I’m going to– f-fuuuck,”
Jungkook shoots his hot cum in your mouth, and you didn’t really expect it to be so… much. The first wave felt heavy, but as his thighs spasm, his dick continues to squirt some more, and you open your mouth to catch them all.
“Fuck.”
You pull back with a wet pop, opening your eyes to meet Jungkook’s stare. Your fingers are still around his length when you lick around your lips, noting the way his eyes darken at the sight of you in front of him like this – kneeling in between his legs and licking his cum.
His chest heaves up and down, and he looks like he was about to say something when you suddenly slack your jaw to present your mouth to him – your mouth that’s now painted white with his cum. He watches you carefully as you close your eyes and swallow.
“Jesus.”
“Didn’t know you were religious like that.” you say as soon as everything’s gone in your mouth, giving him a cheeky smile. It’s a bit salty, not terrible, though you kind of expected that.
When you look at Jungkook, his mouth opens and closes like fish in water. You beat him to it when you rise, crawling up on his chest to press your lips to his.
You realize he might be one of those guys who didn't like it very much when their partners kissed them on the mouth right after giving them a blowjob – but Jungkook only slides his arm around your waist, deepening the kiss, dipping his tongue in your mouth until you’re settled on his lap again.
“You’re a fucking dream.” Jungkook says before kissing you again.
You giggle in his mouth, pushing him away slightly. His eyebrows knit in confusion, but he doesn't really look like he’s processing anything.
“You know I realized something about you,” you plant a sweet kiss on the side of his lips. “You don’t cuss at all, but you do it a lot during sex.”
Jungkook’s expression contorts into a frown, as if that was news to him. “Do I?”
You chuckle. “Yeah.”
“I didn’t know that–” then as if cutting off his own thoughts, he dives in for a kiss again. He pulls away for a second, caressing your cheek and thumbing your jaw before staring at you. “God, you’re gorgeous. Pretty girl.”
“Thanks.”
“I think my brain’s broken right now. I don’t have coherent thoughts.”
That makes you laugh. You pat his chest and notice the way Jungkook reluctantly lets you get off his lap, watching with hooded eyes as you rise to your feet.
“Well, I’ll have to get going. It’s—” you glance at the wall clock. “almost 12.”
Jungkook takes your wrist, and you have to be very brave to not look at his lap because he still hasn’t pulled up his pants yet and his dick is still very much on display. And you weren’t really kidding about having to go because you do have an early day tomorrow.
“Do you really have to go?”
You pout. “I have to.”
He sighs as if that disappointed him. “Okay… let me walk you out.”
Jungkook – finally – pulls his pants up, brushing his fingers through his hair as he rises to his feet. He doesn’t bother putting on his shirt, though, and you don’t comment on it, figuring he’d stay inside anyway.
But when you see him slipping into his slides to follow you out, you press a hand lightly to his bare abdomen and laugh. “Hey, it’s literally, like five steps away. Go back inside.”
He pauses, brows furrowing in slight confusion before glancing down at himself. “Let me just grab my shirt, then—”
That makes you giggle. “Brain still broken?”
“I think so…” he trails off then looks at you. “Hey, come here,” he doesn’t wait for you to do so though, just reaches for you to pull you by the waist, pressing you close to him. He leans down and gives you a slow kiss. You could actually feel air being taken away from you when he pulls away, his smile as gentle as the hand that rubs your back. “Thank you, and good night. See you tomorrow?”
You nod, feeling your cheeks flush.
“Okay. Night. And see you tomorrow.”
With a small wave, you turn toward your apartment, not daring to glance back as you head to the door. But you can feel his gaze on you, watching as you slip inside.
It felt like Jungkook wanted you to stay longer…
But the ache in between your thighs was starting to get uncomfortable, and honestly, you really needed to change your pad.
Because the wetness there? Yeah, it definitely wasn’t just your period.
Tumblr media
“So… is my laptop dying or…?”
“For the third time; no, your laptop is not dying,” Jungkook gives you a playful shake of his head. “It’s just laggy because you watch a lot of porn on it and you turned off your antivirus for some reason.”
You gasp. A dramatic one.
You give Jungkook a scandalous look before sitting down on the couch with him, peeking over what he’s doing on your device. Frankly, you don’t like it when people touch your things – especially your gadgets – because you had a lot of private stuff in them. But thirty minutes ago, your laptop randomly shut down while you had been doing some excel spreadsheets. In a weird coincidence, Jungkook called you the same time it happened. So you told him about it, and he offered to swing by and take a look. He was a tech guy, after all… and anyway, getting it fixed at some shop would have been expensive.
“I don’t watch porn!” you protest, glaring at him.
Jungkook just blinks at you, looking unconvinced. Then he shrugs. “Okay.”
“And what do you mean antivirus? I don’t even know I have one,” you mumble, placing the bowl of freshly cut watermelon on the coffee table. You fold your legs underneath you and inch closer to see what he’s actually doing. He’s been at it for a few minutes now, but all you see are lines of text and windows you can’t even pretend to understand.
“Yes, you do. And you did turn it off,” he says, gesturing at the screen. It’s full of stuff that might as well be in a foreign language. “These are malware. See this? Classic spyware script. You probably clicked on one of those fake play buttons with a hot singles ad or something.”
You give him a baleful look. He snorts.
“You’re not funny. And I watch porn on twitter like a normal person– okay sometimes maybe I do watch on shady websites but why do you even know that? And why are you interested in my porn.”
“You watch porn on twitter?”
“Mostly, yeah.”
“Hm. Interesting,” he nods and turns to the screen again. “Well, I wanna know what you like.”
You almost fall off the sofa. “Like you want me to give you a list of porn accounts?”
Jungkook actually laughs at that. “What? No. I mean, I'm interested in the porn you like.”
Oh.
“Uhm, I don’t particularly like anything,” you say, although maybe you immediately think of those videos where the woman is on the guy’s lap and he fingers her hard in front of the camera – but other than that, not really. You aren’t some freakazoid about porn. Most of the time, you were fine getting off with pure imagination. “I don’t like BDSM though, I think.”
Jungkook nods, but his eyes are not really on you and instead focused on your laptop as he does things. “Hmm.”
Your head snaps in his direction. “What do you mean, hmm?”
Jungkook meets your stare. “What?”
You study his face, narrowing your eyes. But he just looks at you in confusion, although there’s a little smile tugging at his lips. You drop it anyway, reaching for the watermelon cuts on the coffee table and start eating them as you watch whatever magic Jungkook is doing on your device.
“Anyway, I pirate a lot of movies so there’s that.” You thought that would be helpful to share. Those sites do have a lot of those pop-up ads, and you’d really rather endure that than have some big fuckass streaming corporation steal from you every month.
“I know, I’m just teasing about the porn websites,” Jungkook chuckles when you glare at him. “I could share my streaming accounts with you. I think I have everything.”
Your eyes light up almost instantly, but then you manage to catch yourself.
“Uh, no, you don’t really need to do that…”
He hums, goes back to your laptop. You don’t think about it too much when you pick up a watermelon and hover it over his mouth. Jungkook doesn’t hesitate to eat it off your finger, and you don’t  expect the way he sucks the juices off, tongue swirling around your digit while looking into your eyes. It feels like the whole moment took a minute, but in reality it was really only a few seconds, and Jungkook’s back to doing his thing on your laptop.
Oh.
Oh… okay. Well.
You feel the blood rush to your cheeks as you drop your hand to your side, absentmindedly eating your watermelon bites.
Ugh. When will your period end?! Given, it’s only really day two, and you probably have two or three more days to go but ugh…
Your thoughts are interrupted when Jungkook suddenly speaks, rising to his feet.
“All done. I installed a better antivirus, and I logged in my streaming accounts so you don’t get malware again. Also turned off some useless background programs because you had too many running– and I recovered your excel file,” he says, and you give him a grateful smile as you take your laptop and bring it to your chest like it’s your baby. Jungkook chuckles at the sight. “I have to go to the toilet, though. Want to order in and watch something when I’m back?”
“Yeah, sure! Toilet’s over there,” you point to the far right direction of the apartment and watch Jungkook disappear into view to enter the bathroom.
You’re hacking away on your laptop when a phone starts buzzing on the coffee table.
Jungkook’s phone.
You hesitate. You don’t want to knock on the bathroom door just to hand it to him, but you don’t feel right ignoring it either.
The buzzing stops, and you feel relieved for all of one second when it suddenly starts again.
You lean slightly over – not really reaching, just peeking – to see who it is. What if it’s work? What if it’s important? You could tell him about it when he comes back…
The screen lights up with a name: Dad.
You gasp. Just a little.
The bathroom door creaks open behind you and you straighten up like you weren’t doing anything. Jungkook walks out, toweling his hands on his jeans.
“Oh, hey, someone's calling you.”
He gives you a curious look before he crosses the room. You try not to watch too closely as he picks up his phone, but you see it; the way his brows knit together, the way his stance and tone shift when he looks back at you.
“I need to take this real quick” He gestures to the phone. You nod.
He walks far enough that you can’t really make out the conversation, but when you take a peek to look at him, he looks so serious. You’ve only ever seen serious Jungkook when he was at work.
A few seconds later, he returns – apologetic eyes, hand rubbing the back of his neck.
“Hey, I got called into work just now. I’m sorry we can’t have dinner tonight.”
Oh, so you were right! It was a work thing. Still… you wonder why his dad was the one calling.
“No, it’s fine! It must be super important,” you say quickly. “Maybe we can have dinner tomorrow instead?” You say, smiling up at him brightly.
Jungkook breaks into a smile. Then, out of nowhere, he steps closer and leans down to press a kiss to your lips.
You’ve been doing a lot of that lately. Kissing, that is. Just this morning, he drove you to work and you made out before he even started the engine. Then later. After parking, his hands wandered a little too much before you swatted him off, gently reminding him that your breasts were feeling tender from your period.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Then just like that, Jungkook makes his way out of the apartment, and you don’t even know that you’ve been smiling like crazy until the black screen of your laptop catches your silly expression.
Tumblr media
You miss Jungkook.
Okay— well. It’s just been two days, really. Well, more like today is day two. So it’s actually just been a full day. But there were no texts yesterday, and there were certainly no calls either. You haven’t seen him come out of his apartment, and you hate that you’re starting to worry.
You were debating whether to send him a message or not when suddenly, your doorbell rings. You weren’t expecting any visitors, especially not today when it was still so early in the morning and you have to go to work soon! But maybe it was your landlord, complaining about something again…
You groan at that, snatching your bag from the counter, planning to head straight to work after dealing with whoever it is. You slide your shoes on, ready for that condescending landlord tone only to freeze when you open the door.
“Jungkook,” you gasp, acting like you’ve just seen a ghost. And he seems to think so as well, cocking his head to the side at the unusual greeting. “You’re here.” you blurt out.
“Yeah, I went back to my place last night but only for awhile. We launched a system yesterday and something broke in production. QA didn’t catch it, so now we had to roll it—” as if he thought he was sparing you with some boring talk, he cuts himself off and smiles at you instead. “I had to work overtime. I’m sorry I missed dinner last night.”
“Eh, don’t worry. It’s not that serious. I know you're extra busy these days. Anyway, are you on the way to work?” Jungkook nods. “We should go together, then.”
“I was just going to say that.”
You step out of your apartment, and Jungkook waits for you to lock up before you both walk side by side down the stairs. You don’t know why but somehow, having seen him today and walking with him to his car where you’re gonna be riding in together to go to work was giving you a sense of contentment that you missed yesterday. Okay, so maybe this was a thing that was starting to grow on you. And maybe being with Jungkook genuinely makes you feel happy – giddy, for the most part. But it felt silly to have missed him when it was only really a day…
But you didn’t really want to dwell on that. It wasn’t Jungkook’s obligation to drive you to work everyday, and you certainly aren’t entitled to his undivided attention when you know exactly just how hectic his work schedule is. You couldn’t ask him to make time for you, even though you would like that.
“Oh!” Jungkook startles beside you when you suddenly halt. You look at him, wide-eyed. “Jungkook, it’s September first today!”
Jungkook checks his phone, brows furrowed. “Yes…?”
You eye him incredulously. “It’s your birthday!”
At first, the words didn’t seem to register, but Jungkook slowly nods. “Ah yeah, it’s my birthday today.”
“Why do you sound so unexcited?” You pout.
He chuckles, stepping closer to brush away a stray of hair you hadn’t even noticed had fallen across your face.
“Baby, it’s just another day.”
You feeze at the word. It’s the first time he called you that outside of you two… fooling around. It slips naturally from his mouth in that situation, but hearing it in this very non-sexual context was kind of throwing you off-balance – because this moment wasn’t supposed to feel intimate. Not like that, anyway.
Looking away, you say, “Still. You should do something to celebrate. Oh! I think… oh…” your eyes widen at the thought of throwing him a mini-party tonight. Obviously, Jungkook doesn't make a big deal of his birthdays, based on his response. But you thought about baking him a cake. And cookies! He liked the cookies you made last time! And you were practicing cakes these days so maybe it’d be nice to make him a small one. You turn to him with hopeful eyes. “Are you free tonight?”
Jungkook hesitates, but he smiles down at you. “Yeah, I’m free tonight. Why?”
You grin. “You’ll have to come to my place to find out! Oh, it’s gonna be fun. Ugh, I wish we can invite Jimin…”
Tumblr media
You’re honestly proud of yourself for not breaking down when the piping tip you bought turns out to be the wrong one. The blue icing on your apron now looks like abstract art, and there’s enough sugar on your kitchen floor to summon an army of rants.
You just wanted the cake to be perfect. The cookies already were – but the cake, maybe not so much. And it was fine! It tasted fine! But the decorating sucked and at this point you just kind of wish Jungkook would look past the awkward lettering and appreciate the effort behind all these.
You didn’t have much time. He texted you after work that he couldn’t drive you home. He had to stay late, which actually worked out because it gave you the extra time you needed to prepare.
Although for the record, this wasn’t even a real surprise. You just made baked goods. And you cooked some food. And by cook you scratched off the chicken shop’s label and put it in the microwave to heat it up by the time you finished cleaning up your place since Jungkook was gonna be here by 11pm.
Which is why, at 10:40, you rush to the shower.
When you’re done, you step in front of the mirror to check yourself out. You’ve rummaged through your closet and found an old lingerie you don’t remember ever putting on. You remember it as one of those “feel-good” purchases awhile ago.
It’s nothing special, really. Just your usual black lace two-piece. The bra’s light and sheer, made of floral lace with thin straps that sat neatly on your shoulders. There are little pink bows too on them, which kind of made it cute. It didn’t offer much coverage, what with your nipples poking through the fabric – but that seemed to be the point. Meanwhile the panties are just as bold; crotchless, cut daringly open in the center, but softened by the same delicate lace. The set originally had garter straps and thigh-high stockings, but you thought that would be an overkill so you opted out of it.
You cover it up with a casual white dress, spritzing on the La Belle perfume Jungkook always seems to like a little too much.
There, everything’s done. Your period’s gone too, obviously, (day four, thank god) almost as if it knew not to ruin this night for you.
When you head out of your bedroom, you pick your phone up from the kitchen counter to dial Jungkook’s phone.
He usually answers on the first or second ring, but this time, he doesn’t. Wasn’t unusual or anything, given how busy he is… but you do frown when the ringing ends and there’s nothing that comes next but his voicemail.
Your frown deepens. You shift from one foot to the other, glancing at the clock. It’s past eleven now. Fifteen minutes past, to be exact.
Jungkook’s not usually late to things.
You sigh, trudging to one of the chairs in the dining area where you prepared the food and cake for him. You also bought wine and lit up a candle.
You stare at your phone for a solid minute before you pick it up again, deciding to send Jungkook a text.
You [11:16pm]: hey!! are you running late :>
You chose to add the emoticon in the end so the text doesn’t feel too mysterious or broody or serious. Really, you aren’t mad, maybe a little upset now – but maybe Jungkook’s just in the middle of something… what was that again? Someone breaking in production, whatever that meant…
But the clock turns 11:25, and there is still no sign of Jungkook on your phone – and even more so on your door.
You [11:25pm]: are you busy? sorry if im bothering you!
Then on second thought, you added:
You [11:26pm]: oh no pls dont tell me you forgot.. 🙁
Maybe he did forget. You hadn’t reminded him of it when you talked earlier. Did you have to? He said he was free tonight, so you kind of assumed…
You sigh again.
The chicken was turning cold and so was the other food on the table.
You pick up a cookie to nibble on it, thinking of why Jungkook would forget. Or why he wouldn’t text you back or return your call.
At eleven thirty, you stand up from your seat, suddenly feeling so… so silly. Silly about the food. Silly about the cake. Silly about your dress. And most especially, you feel silly about the lingerie that’s hidden underneath.
How silly. To plan all these in expectation of what… Jungkook’s company?
But it was his birthday. And you wanted to throw him a party, thought it would mean something to him, even though it’s not that much. But you did go through a lot of trouble to put this all out… but he also didn’t ask you either. So really, you have no right to feel upset over him not making good on his promise.
Wait, did he promise anything though? No, he didn’t. Not really. He just said he was free tonight. No promises. Maybe his schedule changed again and he needed to work overtime.
You start putting away the food in the fridge, not even having the energy to eat something for dinner. You go back to your room, stripping yourself off and changing into some comfortable pajamas before throwing yourself on the bed.
Still no texts.
It’s 11:42pm when it comes.
You hate how fast your body reaches for your phone to see who it was, lighting up when you see Jungkook (Unit 446) on the caller ID, even more so when you answer it.
“Hey, I got your texts. I’m so sorry, __—”
“It’s fine!” you nibble on your bottom lip as you try to contain your excitement. “Are you coming soon?”
“I– no, ba—” you flinch involuntarily when you hear him cut himself off. You were so sure he was going to call you baby, but he corrected himself quickly. “You remember the thing I mentioned this morning? The rollback didn’t go as planned. I’m working overtime tonight again so I can’t really go…”
“Oh…”
“Did you plan something? It’s just my birthday, __. Maybe we can go somewhere tomorrow?” Jungkook chuckles on the other end of the line, and for the first time it didn’t make you feel giddy or whatever.
You pick on the bed sheet before answering. “Uh, no. It’s not anything big, actually. I just made you some cookies. And ordered some food. But anyway I just ate dinner first because you took so long,” the lie rolls off your tongue easier than you expected. His laugh made you feel shitty. You know he didn’t mean anything by it – but it just made you feel so… so unimportant.
And suddenly, you want to downplay the whole thing. Because clearly, he thinks it’s no big deal.
“Hey, are you upset?” His tone shifts — gentler now.
“Ah, no. Sorry. I’m so tired and sleepy,” you fake a yawn and snuggle on the bed. “Maybe we can talk tomorrow when you’re here?”
Tomorrow is now your least favorite word. You’ve heard it too many times from him lately.
Jungkook doesn’t say anything for a few seconds.
Then you hear him sigh.
“I’m sorry again, I swear I’ll make it up to you.”
“No need to!” you tell him, making sure to say that as cheerfully as possible. Jungkook doesn’t need to. It’s not like you were dating or something for you to be upset over him bailing on you. “Really, it’s fine. Hey, I’m really, really sleepy now. Good night?”
“Okay, sorry. Sleep well, __. Tomorrow, okay?”
You hum, not sure if you believe that. Maybe tomorrow he’s going to have to do overtime again. Maybe tomorrow he won’t be here again.
Whatever.
It wasn’t a big deal.
You end the call, but before you can drop your phone onto the nightstand, you type out one last message.
You [11:45pm]: happy birthday!
Tumblr media
You didn’t get much sleep last night. Not like your body clock has ever been particularly reliable,
This morning, you didn’t really think that much about it when you put the cake in a container and dropped it off at Jungkook’s door on your way down the stairs. You figured you could’ve eaten it, but you made it for him and anyway… it was his birthday and you still think he deserves a cake. He didn’t exactly seem like he was celebrating last night.
You took the bus to work. Nothing unusual, nothing exciting. Just another day dragging your limbs through the same monotonous rhythm. Your brain feels like it’s moving on autopilot by the time you tap your company ID at the building entrance and wait in line for the elevator.
Slipping inside, you wedge yourself into a spare corner, arms crossed as the lift fills and empties floor by floor. Eventually, it’s just you and one other woman left. She steps out when the elevator dings, cradling her phone against her shoulder as she barks something stressed into the line.
Instinctively, you lean forward and press the hold button, stepping onto the side when you take notice of someone going in, only to realize it was Jungkook.
It’s funny, really. Somehow, he only ever seems to appear when he’s the last person you’re ready to see.
“Oh– good morning, Mr. Jeon,” you say, dipping your head in a polite little nod. The words sound awkward even to your own ears, stiff. You’ve never had to think about how to interact with him in the workplace.
Judging by the slight flicker on Jungkook’s face, he thinks it sounds weird too. But he recovers quickly, offering a faint smile as he steps in.
You return his smile, just as polite, and inch a little further to the side – so far that your back nearly presses to the elevator wall, creating an unnecessary gap between you.
The silence is noticeable. Tense, but it’s civil at least. You glance at the floor numbers blinking overhead, half-hoping this ride doesn’t last long.
Then Jungkook shifts in your periphery.
“Hey, about last night—”
The elevator dings.
It’s your floor.
You step out quickly, almost too quickly, heart tapping a little faster than it should.
You don’t look back.
Tumblr media
You didn’t expect to get a text from Jungkook that night.
Jungkook (Unit 446) [9:37pm]: Do you wanna drive home together?
You made a mental note to give him a reply but it’s thirty minutes later that you remembered about it.
You [10:11pm]: hey sorry I just got home
Jungkook (Unit 446) [10:14pm]: Okay Jungkook (Unit 446) [10:14pm]: Please come over tonight? I’m cooking
You [10:16pm]: i'm not sure if I can You [10:17pm]: i’ll try to. I brought home some work :/
He doesn’t give a reply after that.
And maybe that – weirdly – made you irritated. He’d texted first, and he’d asked you over. You gave a soft no, not even a hard one, and he didn’t even try again? Just left it like that?
You sigh and close the lid of your laptop. For once, you hadn’t lied about being busy with work. It was just a few reports you figured you could finish now to make tomorrow lighter and easier. It was nothing really urgent.
But you do feel sort of guilty about it.
Your door buzzes, and you have second thoughts whether or not you ordered dinner.
When you open the door, it felt like deja vu.
“Jungkook.” you say, blinking.
“Are you still working?” He’s in his work clothes, though the sleeves of his button-up are slightly rolled now. It looks like he just got home not long ago.
You glance at the laptop on the coffee table. “No, I just finished…”
“Okay, then I have a question,” Jungkook steps inside, and you unconsciously take a step back at that, looking at him curiously. He watches you carefully. “Are we okay?”
Caught off guard, you stammer when you say, “I– yeah! Sure, why wouldn’t we be?”
He doesn’t say anything for a beat, then, “You seemed a little off this morning. I thought maybe it was about last night.”
You try to wave it off, suddenly nervous about Jungkook being so straight-forward. Usually, men were so emotionally stunted as you are and never faced their problems head-on.
“No, I mean, it’s fine. You were probably so busy. It wasn’t a big deal.”
“But it did kind of matter.”
You exhale, shifting uncomfortably. “Okay, maybe I was a little upset. But it’s not like I’m mad mad.”
“I figured,” Jungkook says, voice soft. “And I get it if you don’t want to hang out tonight, but I still wanted to try. I know I’ve flaked twice now, but I meant what I said, about making it up to you.”
You shift your weight from one foot to the other. “With food?”
He smiles faintly. “With food. Amongst other things.”
That earns a chuckle from you. You’re not over it – unfortunately – but something about the way he’s standing there, almost cautious, makes it hard to keep your walls all the way up.
“So,” he asks gently. “Will you come?”
Taking a deep breath, you unintentionally look down at your socks.
“Only if there’s wine…” you say softly.
Jungkook’s smile spreads. “There’s wine.”
You sigh and start toeing your slippers off. “If it’s terrible, I’m leaving in five minutes.”
“I can live with that.”
Tumblr media
Inside Jungkook’s place, the lights are unusually dim, the apartment warm with the scent of garlic and something buttery. A jazz record plays at the far corner, and you only noticed then that Jungkook owned a vinyl player – which you kind of didn’t expect – you sort of pegged him as the type to not have time to listen to music.
Meanwhile, he goes straight to the kitchen counter, where you watch him by the stove, plating food like a professional. You realized he had been cooking, and that’s why his tie was a little loose and his hair kind of a muss.
You don’t really know what to say, so you try to break the silence with, “Uhm, wow.”
Jungkook glances at you, mouth lifting at the corner. “I try sometimes.”
The obvious faux humility makes you laugh. You know exactly that he knows you’re impressed by the whole thing.
And you haven’t even eaten his food yet.
Walking in slowly to the dining area, your eyes skim over the table where there are real wine glasses, cloth napkins, and a lit candle.
“So what’s the occasion?” You ask, sitting on the chair, watching Jungkook as he heads towards your direction, bringing in the food he was preparing. You smile up at him. “Guilt?”
He chuckles under his breath, and you’re almost glad that the joke lands.
“Maybe. Also I figured you deserve a proper dinner, made by me. Since someone went out of their way to make me one.”
You hum. “Can’t believe you stood me up on your own birthday.”
He brings the plates over and sits across from you. “I cooked,” he says. “Try it before you decide if I’m forgiven.”
You eye the food, a little surprise at how he mustered up a risotto with seared scallops, and of course perfectly plated. Like he’s just so good at everything he does… wait, did Jungkook go to culinary school? You’re starting to think that.
“You know how to make risotto?”
“I know how to do a lot of things,” he meets her gaze.
Yeah, you know that was a hundred percent true…
You take a bite, careful not to let any expression slip while Jungkook watches closely, not really digging in on his own plate.
And as expected, the risotto’s annoyingly good. You didn’t doubt it from Jungkook, though. Being good at cooking was just one of the many qualities that made him so… so whatever.
“Okay, fine. I’m mildly impressed,” you comment, sipping on the wine to hide the small smile tugging at your mouth. Your very expression contradicts your words, and you know Jungkook can see through you.
He leans back in his chair, obviously satisfied. “Mildly?”
“You still missed your birthday dinner. That knocks off some points.”
He gives you a small smile. “I really didn’t expect it to be a birthday dinner, baby.”
You shrug off the nickname by having more bites of the risotto. You wonder if Jungkook was being deliberate when he said that, or if it was just going to be a thing between you now.
“You didn’t ask… and well, I was going to surprise you.” Now you pout at the memories of last night again. “There was chicken.”
Jungkook looks at you in surprise. “You cooked?”
You eye him. “Yeah, I scratched the tapes off the takeout boxes and put it in the microwave.” Jungkook laughs, the crinkles on the sides of his eyes showing. It makes you smile to see him like that. “Well,” you say eventually, “you’ve redeemed yourself a little.”
Jungkook leans in again, riding along, “Only a little?”
“We’ll see if there’s dessert.”
Jungkook smirks, and you both continue to eat.
After awhile, he glances at you. “You’re not mad,” he says, as if treading softly. “But… you were disappointed, right?”
You shake your head. “No. I just—” You see Jungkook raising a brow. “I just thought it’d be nice. I don’t want to make a big deal about it, it was your birthday! Now I feel bad ‘cause it’s like I’m making this all about me.” you chuckle at the realization.
You look at Jungkook when you realize he’s not really laughing with you.
You flinch a little when his hand reaches out to yours. His thumb caresses your knuckles as he tells you softly, “Hey, I know it would’ve been nice. I’m really sorry I missed it.”
“It’s fine…” it’s a good thing Jungkook lets go immediately.
But you find yourself wanting to share with him that you baked him a cake too. About the lingerie… but that felt stupid now. Wait, did he even get the cake you left at his porch this morning?
As if he read your mind, Jungkook suddenly rises up from his chair.
“Wait a second,” he walks past you, disappearing into the kitchen. He opens the fridge and comes back into view with a single slice of cake.
Your cake. The one you made for him.
You stare. “Is that—?”
“You left it outside my door this morning,” he says, placing it on the table. You blink up at him, mouth slightly open. “I thought I’d save it, you know? In case you ever stopped pretending you didn’t care.”
It felt a little pointed, but with the smile on his face you’re not really sure.
“You really don’t play fair.”
“Not trying to.” he says simply with a small smile before sitting again.
“So. Is this your apology routine? Fancy dinner, smooth jazz, and then hoping I forget you bailed?”
He smiles into his own glass of wine. “If I wanted you to forget, I wouldn’t have brought out the cake.”
You raise a brow. “You brought that out to make a point.”
“I did.”
“You’re kind of smug about it.”
“I’m good at making points,” he says, “Especially when someone keeps insisting nothing’s wrong.”
You frown, somehow not really liking the confirmation that he does think you’re making a big deal about this.
“I said I was fine.”
“You keep saying that,” his voice is quieter now, but a little edged. “But you’ve been smiling like it’s your job since you got here. And I know it’s not real.”
You recoil at that, not expecting to be called out. The sudden shift of the atmosphere is palpable as you lean back on the couch.
“What do you want me to say?” you let out a humorless chuckle. “That I was upset? You hurt my feelings?”
Jungkook’s expression changes, but his voice doesn’t falter. “I wanna know how you feel.”
You look away. “Do you want me to admit that maybe I cared more than I should?”
“I didn’t say that.”
“But you mean it.”
He leans forward, "I mean,” he starts, “that it wasn’t nothing. You made me dinner. You planned something for me. That’s not small. And I want you to know that I want to apologize when I make these mistakes.”
You don’t really think it through when you say, “It’s not like we’re together, Jungkook.”
That makes him pause. You can’t find it in you to take it back, because… it was true, right? The whole thing felt like… like you were a couple in a fight. And you aren’t.
“Still not an excuse.” he says after awhile.
You let out a breath, almost a laugh, frustrated. You wish Jungkook hadn’t brought it up, and you wish you aren’t reacting the way you are right now.
“You know, you didn’t seem bothered about it when we talked on the phone.”
“Because I thought you were okay.”
“Well, surprise,” you flash him a tight smile. “Turns out I’m not as chill as I thought.”
His voice lowers. “I never thought you were chill.” You can’t help but glance at him sharply. “I thought you were trying really hard to seem like you didn’t care, because maybe you thought I might not care back.”
That lands harder than it should, and you feel your throat tighten.
“I should go,” you stand up, not wanting to have any more of this conversation. You wish Jungkook would just drop it. You told him, you were upset – but he’s making a big deal about it.
Jungkook stands up too, stepping closer to you. His height looms over you, but his presence feels calm and collected.
“You could,” he says in that deep voice. “But you won’t.”
You take in a sharp breath when he presses until you can feel the heat of his body. You’re confused about the sudden turn of events, but there’s something about Jungkook right now, his voice dropping low, his gaze… almost as if…
“Oh?” you decide to challenge him, not wanting to waver.
“You stayed. And now you’re standing this close,” he says, gaze dropping to your mouth. “Looking like you want me to make you forget why you were upset in the first place.”
You swallow, suddenly feeling heated in that other way.
“A-and if I do?”
One hand brushes past your hip, and you stand there grounded, unconsciously holding your breath.
“Then you let me.”
You kiss him first – not really sure why and how it happened – but you do, on instinct. Wrapping your arms around his neck and pressing your lips to his. It’s fast, and there’s frustration from you bubbling under, heat blooming behind your ribs like a fuse finally lit.
Jungkook kisses you back harder though, catching you on time – always catching you on time – walking you backwards into the living room where he lays you down on the couch, hovering over you.
His voice is rough against your skin when he breaks away to whisper, “Are you still upset?”
Your hands grip his shirt. “I would be if you don’t continue kissing me.”
That makes him smile, murmuring, “You’re a brat.”
“Do you like it?”
He inhales a sharp breath against your jaw, nipping. “I really do.”
In an instant, his hands were around your waist, your back pressed against the back of the sofa. Your breath hitches when his mouth drops to your ear, making your knees weaken slightly.
“Do you– do you kiss everyone you disappoint like this?” you mutter, hands sliding under his shirt where you feel his abs clench.
“No,” he says, lips peppering kisses down your neck, voice low. It sends shivers down your spine and makes your thighs clench together. “Just the ones who microwave chicken for me.”
It earns a chuckle from you – sharp, breathless – and tug the collar of his shirt, starting to undo his buttons until sculpted chest is revealed. You’re about to pull the material off him when Jungkook catches your wrist.
“Still upset?” he asks.
You click your tongue. “Maybe.”
He grins. “Good.”
He kisses you again. Slow this time, like he knows you’d let him now. And you do. Your fingers dig into his shoulder as he deepens it, tongue brushing yours in a way that makes your head fog over. He tastes like wine and smugness… but you find you like it. Jungkook moves in such a way that screams he knows exactly what he’s doing.
His shirt is off in a second, leaving him in his slacks and belt, mouth moving lower over your throat, your collarbone, until they reach your cleavage made easily accessible with the neckline of your camisole. You arch into the touch without much thinking, and when Jungkook whispers against the peak of your nipple if he could take your shirt off, you nod.
“Sorry, this isn’t my proudest bra ever,” you tell him, fingers slipping through his hair.
Jungkook chuckles. “I’m gonna take it off, anyway.”
He lifts you up effortlessly, squeezing your ass as you yelp but helping you wrap your legs around his waist. Before you can say anything, he shuts up with a searing hot kiss, and you let him carry you to the bedroom with ginger steps, like he’d done it a hundred times before in his head. God, you hope he did just like you do.
You don’t know how exactly it happened but your bra is off the moment he lowers you down on the bed, tugging the cups off your chest and letting his hand take reign on one boob while he licks the other one with his hot tongue, swirling it around your nipple that makes you gasp and shift on the bed.
“Oh, Jungkook…”
Crawling over you, you meet his heavy gaze as he asks, “Are you sure about this?”
If the heat in between your thighs is any more indication of how sure you are, he can check. But you tug him down by the waistband of his slacks to tell him, “I’ve been sure.”
“Just checking, because once we start…” he murmurs, gaze dropping on your lips. As if he can’t help it, he closes his mouth around yours. Then his hand slides down, feathery touch causing goosebumps all over your skin. It stops on your inner thigh where you take a sharp breath because he was so close to where you wanted him to be.
“I want you now,” you say, a bit irritated.
He chuckles, dark. Low. He retracts his hand and smirks when you give him a glare.
“I wanna take my time with you, sweetheart. Don’t rush me.”
To prove his point, he kisses you again – hot and passionate, but also aguishly slow like he’s savoring every brush of your tongue and he has all the time in the world for it.
You’re flushed beneath him, breathless as his hands wander all over your body. He nips the skin of your neck, obviously teasing, leaving goosebumps on his trail. When his hand cups the heat in between your legs, your hips unconsciously buck, your grip on his shoulders tightening at the contact.
“I should’ve come to dinner,” he murmurs, kissing the corner of your mouth.
“Y-yeah,” you manage, “you should’ve.”
“I can’t believe I missed this yesterday.”
You gasp when his thumb presses on your mound, feeling like you’ve been electrocuted by the touch. Jungkook seems to take note of your oversensitivity, as he watches you with your mouth hanging slightly open.
“Don’t worry, baby. I plan to make it up to you real good,” he leans back for a second to tug the waistband of your pants, and you don’t hesitate to lift yourself up a little to help him slide it off your legs together with your panties. You bite your bottom lip as you observe him watching the way the material clings to your pussy at the slickness. A smirk tugs at his lips. “I guess I’ve made you wait too long, didn’t I?”
Your reply dissolves into a sharp inhale as he puts two of his fingers in his mouth and wedges them in between your folds, leaning down to plant a kiss on your parted mouth. His fingers move inside you, curling in slow rhythm, his thumb teasing just enough to keep your hips lifting off the bed.
“You’re so soaked, and I haven’t even touched you properly yet,” he slowly slides them out, smirking when you whimper at the loss of contact. He inserts them again, this time taking on a steady pace. His fingers make you feel so full, just like they did back at the motel – and you wouldn’t dare lie to yourself and say you haven’t been looking forward to this again. By the way you can’t keep the soft moans escaping past your lips, Jungkook must’ve known too.
Slick sounds bounce off the wall, and you try to keep it to a minimum by minimizing your moans and pressing the back of your hand to your mouth but Jungkook catches your wrist quickly, as if he knew what you were about to do.
“No, baby, let me hear you,” he says, pinning your hand up against the headboard. “I want to know how much you want this, how much you like my fingers fitting right in your pussy,” he looks down, then unexpectedly, he brings his soaked digits up to your face. Your cheeks flush in embarrassment when you see how wet they are with your juices, whimpering when he inserts them in his mouth with no second thoughts, licking them obscenely. You whimper when he shuts his eyes close, looking intoxicated.
“Shit,” he hisses, “Tastes just as good as I remember it.”
“J-jungkook,” you whine, wanting him to do something already.
“I know,” he smirks, a little smug. “Should I go faster? Is that what you like?”
“Please…” you cry out, holding on to his wrist.
He chuckles darkly and just as when you were about to say something else again, he curls the same fingers in you, but this time he plunges them in and out at a faster pace. At that, you don’t hold back the moans you’ve been keeping trapped in your throat.
Legs tensing, Jungkook continues to fuck you with his fingers, moving like an expert; determined to make you fall apart – and you’re nothing but soft cries, heated, fingers tightening around his wrist as your orgasm creeps up your toes to your spine.
“F-fuck…” you sigh when Jungkook dives in your chest again, nipping and sucking at the flesh you were sure he was going to leave marks. “Feels so good, Koo…”
He hums against your skin, curling his fingers and digging in deep that your thighs shake uncontrollably. But Jungkook’s hold on your hip is firm, not enough to hurt, but enough to keep you from thrashing underneath him at the overwhelming pleasure.
“Yeah? You’re making such a mess on my hand, baby,” he husks out.
“S-sorry.”
He chuckles. “You’re beautiful,” He breaks away from your tits to stare at you. Moving away some of the hair that has gotten on your face, he says, “Are you close?”
“Yes, god, yes. Please, I’m so close…”
You can feel yourself about to reach your climax, so you move your hand to seek relief to your clit. But Jungkook catches you off-guard when he moves further down your body. You let out a lewd moan when he licks along your slit, sucking in your folds – your juices making a wet, spongy sound as he slurps. When he closes his mouth around your clit, you cry out and grab his hair quite harshly.
But Jungkook only hums against your pussy, the vibration only making you drip more. He ravishes your nub with his tongue, quick and steady, and so are his fingers in and out of your pussy.
“Oh my god,” you moan, body convulsing at your impending orgasm, shutting your eyes close and focusing on the way his tongue tugs at your clit. “Kook, I’m coming, fuck, I’m gonna cum—”
He pulls off with a smack only to tell you “in my mouth” before going back to business again. You listen to his small grunts, his hums, and until then, you feel your body spasming when the coil at your stomach breaks.
Jungkook puts his hand on your lower stomach, pressing you down as you wriggle underneath him, thighs shaking at your orgasm. He licks until you’re pulling his head out of your mound. He takes his fingers out of your spongy walls, spreading your wetness instead around your folds, as if calming you down from your high.
“Good, baby, good…” he murmurs, gripping your thighs to steady you. Then he leans down and presses kisses over them.
You let your back relax on the mattress, shutting your eyes close and catching your breath.
You hear a drawer pull open, and when you finally open your eyes, you see Jungkook with a condom pinched in between his fingers.
“I’m not done with you yet,” Jungkook skates his fingers through his hair, and you suddenly got the urge to jump him right then and there when you saw the sheer wetness on his jaw, his sculpted chest and the abdominal muscles that sit perfectly on his stomach, his tattoo sleeve – he looked like an absolute dream then, but you knew you were in for a ride when your eyes cast a look at the erection inside his slacks. Jungkook makes quick work of unbuckling his leather belt, and the way the metal clink with each other scratches a part of your brain that screams want, want, want and maybe Jungkook caught on, because he follows your gaze to the belt, clicking his tongue when he throws the leather away somewhere on the floor.
“Next time, sweet girl,” he says, sounding like he meant it. You can feel your cheeks heating under his gaze and the implication of his words, chest pounding as he unbuttons and unzips his pants together with his boxers.
“I…” You watch in quiet fascination when his rock hard dick slaps against his lower abdomen, biting your lip at the sight. It was just as long and girthy as you remember it.
He hums. “You want to play next time, we’ll do that. But eyes up here first,” Jungkook instructs, and you do look at him when he says so, feeling your legs clamping together at his slightly commanding tone. He tugs your legs to pull you closer to the edge of the bed, and so you lift off the mattress slightly and rest your elbows against the soft sheets. Jungkook smiles at you as he kneels between your spread legs, “You look beautiful like this, baby. Do you know how much I’ve been wanting to do this?” he asks as he rips open the condom, pinching the tip and putting it over his cock in quick succession.
“I’ve been waiting for you…” you say, not really sure what you mean, touching his chest because you can. He’s so warm and so big, and your pussy aches at the thought of him finally entering you.
It felt greedy, to want to cum again when you just did not even a full minute ago.
“I know,” he strokes his cock for good measure, and you let out a soft gasp when he hikes your leg over his hip, nudging your other leg to the side. He inserts a finger in your pussy, hissing at your wetness. “Fuck, you are soaked, baby…”
“Put it in,” You whine, chest heaving up and down as you watch Jungkook with half-lidded eyes. His hand wraps around his dick, strokes it for a moment before gripping near the tip and bringing it closer to your aching heat.
You moan when the first inch of his cock goes in, mouth gaping at the intrusion. Jungkook’s eyebrows knit as he adjusts your leg higher on his hip, pushing deeper.
“Look at me,” he instructs, “You can take it, right, baby? You’re so wet, so pretty…”
“I– yes, yes– shit,” you let out a shaky breath, “you’re s-so big, fuck,”
“You’re taking it so well,” he murmurs, voice low and dripping with honey. He gives a gentle, almost subtle thrust that almost knocks you out of the bed.
“Yes, yes, fuck… give it to me, Kook, I want you so bad…”
“Yeah? I’m gonna move in a sec, angel, play with your tits for me.”
You nod your head and do as told, letting your hands wander all over your body before fondling your breasts, moaning instantly at the pleasure.
“Tell me if it hurts,” is what he says before he slips an arm beneath your waist, holding you up, a shudder escaping past his lips when he slowly pushes more past your tight walls. You choke out a moan, a broken sob coming out of it when he finally bottoms out inside of you.
“Ah…”
He hisses, fingers digging at your waist as he withdraws from your heat and only the tip of his cock is in you, the scene with it sitting on your soaked pussy enough to send him into an overdrive.
“You’re so fucking tight holy fuck,” he seethes, forcefully snapping his hips back into you and finally picking up a pace that makes you whimper and cry out pathetic little moans, mind becoming fuzzy at the thrusts of his cock in your entrance.
Your walls clench at the glide of his cock against you, feeling him falter at the little stunt. But you can’t help it. Your body is on fire as Jungkook lets out a guttural groan, pulling you flush against his cock until the thin hairs around the base of his dick are tickling your skin. Your elbow shake as it loses balance, but Jungkook is quick to catch you just on time, leaning down to hover over your body, but it only makes the angle of his fuck deeper, and maybe he meant to do that too.
Your hands are quick to wrap around his shoulders as you feel the tip of his cock prodding against your cervix like he’s going all out, your hips jumping as he rams back inside.
He repeats the movement like a graceful dancer, thrusts deep and purposeful, pulling out wailing sounds from you you begin to worry if the neighbors could hear. He tucks his head against your neck and presses a kiss on the junction between your neck and shoulder, rocking his hips into you, pistoning into your squelching heat. His body is so close, so warm, sweaty skin gliding against yours.
“Fuck, fucking hell, baby – fuck, you feel so good,” Jungkook growls, finding your mouth and kissing you again. His hips snaps back into you once again, and you both swallow each other’s moans at the contact, letting your bodies rock to the sound of your fucking. His hand is on your chest immediately, squeezing everywhere until it settles on pinching your nipple between his fingers.
“Jungkook– ah, baby— fuckkkkk,” You shudder, feeling your pussy quiver at every snap and every withdrawal, and when he brings his hand to your clit and rubs it in quick circles, you screw your eyes shut, feeling that familiar wave again for the second time that night.
“Jungkook–”
“You’re gonna be a good girl and come for me, sweet girl?” Jungkook rasps out, sweaty forehead coming into view as he jackhammers into your pussy with ease, welcomed by your never-ending slick. You never thought you’d see Jungkook like that, fucking like a crazed caveman, looking like he can’t get enough but also straining himself a bit to not hurt you – because of course he wouldn’t.
“Fuck me harder, Kook, I need it– need you to… need you to—”
“Yeah?” he rocks harder, faster just like you said, and you can honestly start to feel the slight pain on your chest as they bounce at the speed, your hand flying to grab at your chest.
“I’m so close,” you cry out, unconsciously reaching for him and feeling like you’re on edge. Jungkook takes your hand and encloses it around his, thrusting into you once again before whispering against your skin to let go.
As if that was a magic phrase, you feel something inside you snap.
“Good girl, I knew you’d come for me, you always do,” Jungkook slurs. You could feel your cum dribbling out of your pussy, creaming his cock, but Jungkook continues ramming himself past your clenched lips and into your spasming hole, grunting against your skin, mouth leaving random, open-mouthed kisses.
He drills on, and his cock still feels so achingly hard, seemingly not anywhere near completion yet. You’re nearly mush beneath him from your current release, but you push through it as you press your hands to his chest, forceful enough to send him tumbling a little. He’s caught off-guard by that, and you take that to your advantage as you maneuver yourself to push him completely on his back, his cock sliding out of you.
He bounces off the mattress a little, looking at you curiously as you straddle his waist. Your sensitive pussy shudders at the cold of the AC in his room, and you feel like your bones have been liquefied, but you don’t let that deter you from taking ahold of his still, indeed, hard cock and sitting on it.
Jungkook inhales a sharp breath as he watches you bounce on his cock, the head disappearing and appearing in your entrance, like a show he would want to replay over and over again. And you’re determined, stretching your body and leaning back to rest your palms on his thighs for support as you take his dick, switching to a back and forth motion.
“Oh, Jungkook, god – oh my god,” and although it was supposed to be for him – for him to cum – you can honestly feel yourself about to snap again, especially when Jungkook reaches forward to rub your tit, caressing your tattoo underneath with that hungry look in his eyes, and settling on your hips like he’s enjoying the little show you’re putting up for him.
“That’s it baby, bounce on my cock – you’re doing so we…ll,” he encourages, but there’s a slight break to his tone at the end. “Shit, keep going – fuck. I’m so fucking close– you look so good,”
You swallow the saliva trapped in your throat to pick up your pace, feeling lightheaded at the overwhelming feeling of his cock prodding against your cervix everytime you go forth. His dick brushes past your clit everytime you move, and you throw your head back when you feel him starting to thrust upward.
“Are you close again, baby?” Jungkook asks, gripping your hips tight as he meets your ministration. You bite your lip at the question, only whimpering when Jungkook bucks his hips harshly. “Cum for me a third time, pretty girl. Cum with me.”
“Jungkook, I can’t, I’m so sensitive. I–”
“You can, angel. And you will.”
You mewl when Jungkook reaches for your pussy with his other hand, quickly finding your clit to rub against it again, and that pushes you to the edge quickly – orgasm snapping on an instant just like that.
Jungkook’s hips stutter, breath caught in between a curse and your name, like the sound of you undid him completely. It was a sound that you heard three days ago when he came in your mouth.
“Fucking hell,” he hisses, hips faltering at his orgasm. “Shit…”
You drop your body unceremoniously onto him, the exhaustion hitting you all at once.
Wrapping his hands around your body very gently, you feel Jungkook kissing the side of your head, making you shut your eyes close.
“Jesus.” you blurt out, whole body spent.
“Didn’t know you were religious like that…” He says with a chuckle, caressing your hair mindlessly.
You snap your head quickly to look at him at the familiar words, narrowing your eyes. Jungkook only presses a kiss to your shoulder as if that was some sort of apology, and you let it go with a playful shake of your head.
“Do you still feel bad about missing dinner?” You ask with a smile on your face.
He let out a low laugh, and the vibration through his chest feels warm against your skin.
“I’m working on making it up to you.”
“Does it really involve making me cum three times in a single night?” you arch your brow. “I think you’re overcompensating.”
Jungkoo gives you a nonchalant shrug. “Maybe.”
And before you can say anything, he flips you over and kisses you again, which makes you giggle into his mouth.

Tumblr media
chapter summary: You meet Bucky at therapy where Dr. Raynor shares a small office with Dr. Cole. You two slowly connect over mystery books and coffee outings. Until one day you don't show up. word count: 3.4k+ pairing: Bucky Barnes x fem!reader notes: i've mentioned a few times offhandedly that i have depression (and anxiety) and i that i have attempted - i don't want pity or anything, just stating a fact. i started therapy like 4 months ago and have been doing much better! anyways, i got to thinking about how one of the only characters who has been in therapy (in the mcu) is bucky. i guess you could kinda count tony, but he was talking to bruce so idk. anyways, that's how this came along. it was kinda my version of journaling, since i suck at it. please read the warnings/tags! warnings/tags: post tfatws, therapy, allusions to depression, alpine mention!, reader has a dog, mentions/allusions to a suicide attempt, some fluff, two people finding each other through trauma, insomnia, nightmares, slight angst, depressive spiral
Tumblr media
The Brooklyn office is small—four hardback chairs, a scuffed laminate floor, and walls the color of old oatmeal. You’re already there when Bucky shuffles in, early as usual, hood pulled low despite the July heat.
You’re curled over a paperback, thumb smoothing the crease in the spine. He recognizes the look: concentration hiding nerves. He clears his throat, drops into the chair opposite you.
Silence stretches. Tick-tick-tick from the receptionist’s keyboard. Bucky counts each tap like gunshots until— “Chapter’s not great,” you mutter, not looking up. “It’s supposed to be a detective story, but the villain is obvious by page three.”
Bucky blinks. Small talk, right. He hunts for something non-awkward to say. “Maybe the detective’s just slow,” he offers.
That earns a tiny huff of laughter. You glance up, eyes warm but tired. “You ever read mysteries?”
“Not since… a long time.” He swallows. “But I used to like Agatha Christie.”
“Classic.” You close the book, mark your place with a Metro receipt. “I’m Y/N.”
He opens his mouth—hesitates—then sticks out a flesh-and-blood hand. “Bucky.” The metal one stays shoved under his sleeve.
The receptionist calls your name first. You stand, shoot him a quick, encouraging smile. Something inside his rib cage gives a startled twitch.
---
“Still having trouble sleeping?” Dr. Cole asked. She shared an office with Dr. Raynor, you were just lucky to find a therapist close to your place.
You shrugged, “yeah. It’s just insomnia. I did a sleep test, had to put the mask on and sleep with it for 2 nights. Doctor found nothing, so...”
"Let's talk about what happens when you try to sleep," Dr. Cole said, pen poised.
"I stare at the ceiling," you answered. "Count cracks in the paint, listen to Sparky snore, think about—stuff."
"Stuff?"
"Classes, rent, whether my brother’s eating decent food at school—everything that isn't restful."
Dr. Cole nodded. "Nightmares?"
"More like reruns. Same memories on loop." You rubbed your eyes. "They don't even change; they're just… loud."
She clicked her pen. "Medication helping?"
“I guess. Not with the sleep part though. But nothing helps with sleep.”
Dr. Cole tilted her head. “What do you do between the moment you turn off the light and the moment you give up?”
“Phone. Crossword. Sometimes I Google ‘why can’t I sleep’ like it’s gonna give a brand-new answer.”
“Ever try talking instead of scrolling? Out loud, I mean—narrate the day, get it out of your head.”
You snort. “My dog’ll think I’m confessing state secrets.”
“Sparky might surprise you.” Dr. Cole’s smile is small but real. “Okay, homework: pick one night this week, no screens after ten, narrate the day to Sparky, then lights out. Deal?”
“Fine. If she tattles, that’s on you.”
“Noted.” She scribbles, caps the pen. “Same time next week?”
“Wouldn’t miss it.” You stand, tugging your bag onto your shoulder. The chair legs squeak; the sound feels louder than it is.
---
Bucky’s still in the waiting area, elbows on knees, staring at the floor like it owes him money. He glances up when the door clicks shut behind you.
“How’d it go?” he asks, voice low.
“About as fun as a dentist with feelings.” You fish the Metro receipt-bookmark from your book, wave it. “But I got homework.”
“Therapists love homework.” He shifts, pats the chair beside him that you’re about to vacate. “Good luck.”
“You, too.” You nod toward the closed door. “Raynor doesn’t bite, right?”
“She’s thinking about it.” His mouth twitches. “You really hate that book?”
“Detective’s got two brain cells, both fighting for custody. I’m gonna finish it just to spite him.”
“Want a recommendation when you’re done?”
“Only if it’s Christie.” You step backward toward the lobby doors. “I like the classics.”
He lifts two fingers in a mock salute. “Deal.”
The receptionist calls, “Mr. Barnes?”
Bucky pushes up, metal hand still hidden in the sleeve. As he passes, he murmurs, “see you next week, Y/N.”
Your pulse trips over itself. “Next week.”
---
Raynor doesn’t wait for him to sit. “Early again. You practicing small talk in the hallway?”
He drops into the chair. “Maybe.”
“How’s the loneliness doing?”
He thinks of a paperback clutched between your hands and the way your eyes lit when he said Christie. “Less loud.”
“That’s new.” Raynor flips her notepad open. “Let’s talk about it.”
---
A week later you’re back, five minutes early for once. Bucky’s already there—of course—thumb tapping a silent rhythm on his thigh.
“You beat me again,” you say.
“I’m competitive.” He nods to the paperback in your grip. “Finished?”
“Killer was the dog walker. I want my money back.”
He chuckles—actually chuckles. “Brought you this.” From his jacket pocket he produces a scuffed copy of The Murder of Roger Ackroyd.
You take it, thumb the brittle spine. “Vintage.”
“So am I.”
You sit—this time in the chair beside him, not across. Your shoulders almost touch.
Receptionist looks up. “Y/N?”
You rise, clutching the book. “Hold my spot?”
“Always.” He watches you disappear behind the door, heart beating a little less like a war drum. Raynor will call it progress. He’ll call it something quieter: hope.
---
July heat’s worse a week later—New York humidity that sticks to your lungs. You and Bucky leave your sessions at the same time for once, shoulders brushing as the door swings shut.
“Raynor let you out early?” you ask.
“She thinks negative five minutes counts as progress.” He eyes the battered copy of Roger Ackroyd in your hand. “Any good?”
“Ten times smarter than last week’s disaster. Thanks for the rec.” You nudge his elbow. “Coffee? There’s a cart across the street.”
He squints at the sky. “Gonna melt anyway. Sure.”
---
The cart umbrella rattles in the breeze. You order an iced latte and Bucky sticks to plain drip, black.
“Old-man coffee,” you tease.
“Watch it, I’m sensitive.” He sips, winces. “So—you do the Sparky homework?”
“Yeah. She stared at me like I’d grown a second head, then fell asleep halfway through my monologue about rent.”
“Did you sleep any better?”
“Hour, maybe two.” You shrug. “But hey, progress.”
He nods, knocks a knuckle on the paper cup. “Nightmares kept me up. Raynor wants me journaling.”
“Journaling, narrating—therapists love verbs.” You dig in your tote, pull out a slim notebook. “Take mine. Blank pages intimidate me anyway.”
He turns it over. “Purple glitter stars?”
“Judge and I take it back.”
He clutches it to his chest. “No, no—precious now.”
Your laugh bubbles out before you can stop it. A beat passes; his smile lingers. Something warm hangs between you—comfortable, tentative.
“Thanks, Y/N,” he says, tapping the notebook. “For the… sparkly lifeline.”
“Anytime, Barnes.”
You check your phone. “Gotta run—class in fifteen. Same time next week?”
He hesitates, then, “Actually—Raynor’s moving my slot. Thursday, four?”
You scroll your calendar. “I can swing that.” Smile. “I’ll bring a better bookmark.”
He salutes with his coffee. “Deal.”
---
The waiting-room AC’s broken. You fan yourself with your Metro receipt as Bucky strides in, hair damp from a shower that didn’t stick.
“Hey,” you say.
“Hey.” He holds up the notebook—half the pages now filled. “Turns out journaling’s just talking on paper.”
“Therapists everywhere rejoice.”
The receptionist calls his name first this time. He freezes. “Switch with me?”
You shrug. “Fair’s fair. Go.”
He exhales, heads in. As the door shuts, you spot the corner of a page sticking out of the notebook—your name scrawled at the top. Your heart skips and you look away fast.
---
Bucky’s session is short—fifteen minutes. He steps out, cheeks pink.
“You okay?”
“Yeah.” He clears his throat. “Raynor… uh, suggested social exposure therapy.”
“Meaning?”
“Coffee that isn’t from a cart.” He scratches the back of his neck. “With a friend.”
You grin. “I know a place that sells donuts bigger than your hand.”
“Sound dangerous.”
“Live a little, Barnes.”
He offers an arm—the flesh-and-blood one. You loop yours through without overthinking.
“Hope they have purple-glitter donuts,” he mutters.
You snort. “Don’t tempt me.”
Street noise swallows the rest, but the silence between you feels easy, not heavy. Two insomniacs, two notebooks, one slow, stumbling orbit.
And maybe—just maybe—sleep won’t feel so impossible tonight.
---
You push the shop door open, tiny bell chiming. The smell of fried sugar and espresso hits like a hug. Bucky’s already at a corner table, sunglasses perched on his head, studying the menu like it’s classified.
“Morning,” you say, sliding into the seat across.
He looks up, relief softening his shoulders. “Saved you the last maple-bacon monstrosity.”
“You get a medal for that.”
“Working on it.” He nods at your iced coffee. “Still cold-brew loyal?”
“Ride or die.” You sip. “How’s the notebook?”
He pulls the purple-star journal from his jacket, thumb tapping the cover. “Halfway through. Raynor says I’m oversharing—‘but in a good way.’”
“Therapist code for ‘keep going.’”
“Yeah.” He hesitates. “I wrote about… the bridge dream. First time on paper.”
You lean in. “Any lighter?”
“Maybe a gram.” He flicks his gaze to the donut display. “Your turn—sleep narration working?”
“Managed four hours straight on Wednesday.” You raise the coffee in salute. “Progress.”
He grins. “Therapists everywhere rejoice.”
A server comes by to hand off the plates: his chocolate-glazed, your maple-bacon slab.
You rip off a chunk, point it at him. “So—social exposure therapy. How exposed are we aiming?”
“Raynor suggested a museum. Crowds, but no one expects small talk.”
“I’m free Sunday afternoon. Think you can handle the Met?”
He pretends to weigh it. “If they still allow grumpy ex-assassins.”
“Only if they don’t touch the art.”
“No promises.”
---
You both pause at a sarcophagus. Tourists swirl around, soundtrack of camera shutters. Bucky leans close. “Mummies have it figured out. Eternal rest.”
“Jealous?”
“A little.”
You smirk. “Try counting cracks in the ceiling. Works great.”
“Smart-mouth.” He nudges your shoulder. Metal—the sleeve’s rolled up. First time he hasn’t hidden it.
You glance at the vibranium, then meet his eyes. “Cool arm.”
He exhales—some tension you didn’t know was there. “Thanks.”
A kid nearby gasps, whispers to her dad. Bucky stiffens. You step slightly in front of him, blocking the view. “Ignore them. They’re staring at the arm, not you.”
“Same thing.”
You tilt your head. “To me it’s just… part of the package.”
He blinks. “Package, huh?”
“Don’t get cocky, Barnes.”
He chuckles, shoulders loosening. You wander onward, conversation dipping from art to worst cafeteria food, back to sleep tactics.
---
Apartment’s dark except for phone glow. Sparky snores at your feet.
Your screen lights: Bucky Barnes – New Text
“Tried narrating to Alpine. She walked off mid-monologue. Rude cat.” “You asleep?”
You smile, thumbs flying.
“Wide awake, obviously.” “Want to test a theory? Phone call, five minutes max. Talking’s supposed to tire the brain.”
Three dots… then your phone rings.
“Hey,” you whisper.
His voice is low, scratchy. “If this puts you to sleep I’ll be offended.”
“Then be interesting.”
He snorts. “No pressure.”
Minute one: weather complaints. Minute two: misheard song lyrics. Minute three: you yawn.
“Tired?” he asks, softer.
“Keep talking.”
He does—about the Met gift shop, how the snow-globe pyramids looked fake, how he bought one anyway.
“Why?” you mumble.
“For you,” he says. “Figured you could narrate to it when Sparky’s bored.”
Warmth floods your chest. “That’s… weirdly sweet.” There was silence for a few seconds, except his breathing. You blink, heavy-lidded. “Still there?”
“Mm-hmm.”
“Don’t hang up yet.”
“Not planning to.” He pauses. “Sleep, Y/N.”
“Night, Bucky.”
Phone still against your ear, you drift. First dreamless night in months.
Bucky listens to your steady breaths, eyes finally closing. Tomorrow’s problems can wait. Tonight, two insomniacs found quiet on the same line.
---
Dr. Cole taps her pen lightly on the pad. "You seem brighter today."
You shift slightly, feeling oddly caught out. "Actually slept last night. Whole five hours."
She raises an eyebrow, gently amused. "And what changed?"
You consider the phone call, the quiet voice on the other end, and shrug. "I think talking helps more than I realized."
Dr. Cole nods knowingly. "Having someone listen tends to do that."
"Yeah." You pick at your thumbnail. "I might be figuring that out."
"Good," she says simply. "Keep figuring."
---
Bucky’s waiting outside when you finish, leaning against the brick wall in sunglasses and a worn ball cap. He pushes off as soon as you step into the sunlight.
"Stalking now?" you joke, nudging his shoulder.
"Just passing by." He falls into step beside you. "Coffee? I need advice."
"Advice?"
He grimaces. "Raynor wants me attending a group session next week. Apparently, that's my next exposure step."
You glance at him. "Sounds terrifying."
"It is. Hence the advice request."
You smile softly. "I don't do groups, but… you handled crowds at the Met fine."
"That was because of you." He shrugs one shoulder, eyes ahead. "You distract me."
Warmth blooms in your chest. "In a good way?"
"In the best way."
Silence lingers, comfortable this time. The coffee cart is in sight, heat shimmering off pavement.
"Maybe… I could wait outside the group room," you offer quietly. "Just for moral support."
He stops, turns to you, eyes bright behind the lenses. "You'd do that?"
You tilt your head, fighting a smile. "I’d even bring a bad detective book."
"Deal."
---
The hallway smells faintly like industrial cleaner. You’re on a metal folding chair, feet kicked up against the wall, paperback open in your lap, Sparky dozing at your feet.
The group-room door opens. Voices murmur, shoes shuffle. Bucky emerges last, eyes slightly wide, tension in his shoulders. He spots you immediately, relief clear.
You shut the book. "You survived."
"Barely."
"Anyone bite?"
"Only verbally." He nods at Sparky. "She allowed?"
"Emotional support dog," you deadpan. "Completely legit."
He crouches slowly, metal fingers gentle against Sparky’s fur. She yawns, entirely unconcerned. Bucky straightens, a genuine smile tugging at his mouth. "Thanks for waiting."
"Always."
You start walking toward the exit together, his pace matching yours easily. "Was it worth it?" you ask.
He exhales deeply. "Yeah. Sort of. I talked. Once. About nightmares."
"That’s huge."
"Didn’t feel huge."
"It will tomorrow."
He looks sideways at you, hesitant. "Can I… call tonight?"
Your heart thuds softly. "Every night if it helps."
"It does," he says quietly. "It helps a lot."
The sunlight fades gold over the city as you step outside. Bucky pauses, hands in his pockets.
"You know," he says carefully, "I started therapy because the government made me. I stayed because… I thought it was the right thing to do. But now—"
"Now?" you prompt softly.
"Now I'm staying because it led me to you."
You swallow, suddenly shy. "That’s… nice."
He chuckles gently, shaking his head. "Yeah. Nice."
You bump his shoulder. "Don't mock my vocabulary."
"Never." He smiles. "Call you later?"
"Better."
He watches you walk away, heart steadier than it’s been in months.
---
Your phone buzzes on the bathroom counter, vibrating against your toothbrush holder. You squint at the caller ID, toothbrush in your mouth.
Dad.
You spit toothpaste, rinse quickly, and swipe to answer. "Hey, Dad."
"Y/N," he starts, tone already tense. "Got a minute?"
You sigh quietly, gripping the sink. "I have therapy soon. Everything okay?"
He pauses. You hear him clear his throat—never a good sign. "Look, I just got your mail. Bill from the hospital came again."
"Yeah, they keep sending it even though I set up payments—"
"I read it," he interrupts, voice clipped. "You know how it feels to read 'psychiatric hold' on a bill addressed to my kid?"
You close your eyes, jaw tightening. "I didn't ask you to open it."
"You're my kid. Of course I opened it. Y/N, we never talked about it. You just went silent, moved on like nothing happened—"
"I didn't move on."
"Then explain it," he says sharply. "Explain why you'd do something like that. Was it us? Your mom? Me? You never gave us a chance—"
"Dad, please stop."
He doesn’t. "We raised you to be stronger than this, Y/N. What happened to you?"
Your chest aches. Tears sting your eyes, hot and furious. "I have to go."
"Y/N—"
You hang up, tossing the phone onto your bed. You sit down hard, head in your hands, breathing jaggedly until your lungs ache. "Fuck," you whisper, wiping at tears you don't want to fall. "Fuck."
Your phone buzzes again. You don't pick it up.
---
Bucky checks his phone again—fourth time in ten minutes. The receptionist taps at her keyboard, and the clock above ticks louder than usual. Still nothing.
He types out another quick message:
"You close? Saving you a seat."
Five minutes pass as his knee bounces. Another text:
"You okay?"
Raynor opens her office door. "Barnes?"
He stares at your empty chair, then back at her. "Can we reschedule?"
She frowns slightly. "Is something wrong?"
"I gotta check on something." He stands abruptly. "I'll call."
Raynor just nods slowly. "Alright. Call if you need anything."
He’s already out the door.
---
He knocks gently at your apartment door, listening closely. "Y/N?"
No answer.
Bucky knocks again. "Y/N, it's me. You missed therapy. Just checking in."
Silence. Anxiety creeps up his spine, icy and familiar. He tries the handle. Locked.
He pulls out his phone again, sends a text:
"Outside your door. Please open."
Nothing. He leans his forehead against the wood, closing his eyes briefly. "Please," he murmurs.
Then, faintly, your voice comes through: "It's unlocked now."
---
Your apartment’s dark, curtains drawn tight. Sparky is curled on the couch, lifting her head as Bucky steps inside. You’re sitting cross-legged in the corner of the couch, eyes swollen, a blanket draped over your shoulders.
"Hey," he says softly, approaching slowly. "Mind if I sit?"
You shake your head silently, eyes fixed on your hands.
Bucky sits carefully beside you, keeping a cautious distance. "You wanna talk about it?"
You don’t answer. He waits, watching your profile, noticing the tightness in your jaw, the subtle trembling in your hands.
"My dad called," you say finally, voice thick. "He got a bill from the hospital. From… a while ago."
Bucky nods slightly. "Didn’t go well?"
A shaky laugh escapes your throat. "He blamed me. Said… said they raised me stronger. Like I chose to be weak."
Your voice cracks on the last word. Tears spill over, quiet and unstoppable. "I didn’t choose this."
Bucky’s throat tightens. "I know."
"He asked what happened to me," you whisper, voice breaking. "I don't know how to answer that."
He moves closer, gentle and slow. "You don’t have to know right now."
You swallow hard. "I keep trying to be better. Therapy, homework, all the fucking talking—but it’s never enough." You bury your face in your hands, shoulders shaking. "I'm sorry. You shouldn't have to—"
"Hey," he interrupts gently. "Stop apologizing."
You cry harder, trying to hold back sobs that spill through your fingers. He doesn't say anything more—just reaches out slowly, carefully pulling you against him. You tense at first, then melt against his chest. His arms circle you gently but firmly, his hand stroking your back as you tremble.
"You don't have to do this alone," he says softly, his voice steady in your ear. "I promise."
You nod, unable to speak. Sparky whines softly, shifting closer, pressing warmth into your side.
Bucky holds you until the tears slow, until your breathing evens slightly, his grip never loosening.
"You don't have to explain anything," he whispers finally. "Not to him, not to me—not until you're ready."
You sit up slowly, wiping your eyes, embarrassed. "Sorry," you whisper again.
He squeezes your shoulder gently, shaking his head. "No more apologies."
You sniff softly, leaning your head back against the couch. "I missed therapy."
"Cole'll forgive you. I skipped too."
You glance at him, eyes tired but softer. "They’ll kill us both."
"They’ll deal." He smiles gently, brushing a stray tear from your cheek. "You hungry?"
You shake your head slowly. "Not yet."
"Then we'll wait." He leans back beside you, Sparky settling between you both. "We have time."
You let out a breath, lighter now. The ache still lingers in your chest, but it’s quieter, bearable. "Thank you," you whisper.
He looks at you, steady and calm. "Anytime, Y/N."

[start here]
“What do you mean you forgot?!”
Eddie flails his hands wildly.
“I just did!” he yells back.
“What the fuck, Eddie?!”
“Language!” Claudia Henderson pipes up from somewhere in the house. Turns out, she could be just as loud as her son when she wanted, but that’s a given when you have to rise him by yourself.
“Sorry!” Dustin yells back. And then, after a thoughtful frown in his friend’s direction, yells again, not breaking eye contact: “Can Eddie stay the night?!”
“What?!” Eddie hisses through his teeth.
“Sure!” His mom’s answer is immediate. “As long as his uncle knows!”
Ms. Claudia knew he was living with his uncle? How much has their sons shared about him? Has he spilled unknowingly?
“Of course!”
Eddie was for now the only person maintaining a reasonable volume. He turned his whisper-hiss on Dustin again.
“I can’t just impose on your house like that, Henderson!”
“You’re not imposing, mom said it's okay.”
Eddie throws his hands in the air. As always, Dustin was right in the most infuriating way.
“You’ll stay over until you finish the paper.”
“I don’t need babysitting to do my work!”
“You kind of do,” his friend points out, right yet again. “And here you won’t get distracted with your guitar or campaign.”
“Do you think it’s all I do?” Eddie bristles, at which Dustin waves his hand dismissively.
“Or a book, or a nap, or whatever gross shit you ‘almost adults’ get up to.” He makes a face, as apparently talking about jerking off is below him.
“A nap sounds great, to be honest…” he hums thoughtfully, his mind zeroing in on its pick. Dustin huffs.
“Well, write an outline and we can discuss a nap.”
Eddie did not expect being held hostage in Henderson’s house to write a paper, on a weekday night no less, but here he was. He’s been in worse predicaments, that’s for sure, considering this cell had a radio, a soft couch, and snacks. And as much hot tea as he can stomach, though Claudia Henderson might be underestimating his love for a good earl gray blend.
The afternoon goes more or less as usual, he and Dustin do their homework in the boy’s bedroom, and then Eddie gets dragged into a family dinner. But instead of finishing up or going home, he’s being approached by Mrs. Henderson holding a huge bundle of spare bedding.
“Is the couch okay? Steve got the guest bedroom, but if you ask nicely, he’d probably switch with you.”
Eddie is shaking his head before she finishes talking, but Dustin is first actually to speak up.
“Can’t he sleep here?”
His mom frowns.
“This isn’t a sleepover. Your curfew still applies.”
“But!--!”
“No buts! Eddie, sweetie.” She turns to the older boy again. “I’ll leave the bedding on the couch, you can sleep there or talk it out with Steve when he comes back.”
“Thank you.” He smiles at her, knowing he won’t be talking with the guy.
Dustin keeps trying to argue, so she adds:
“Dusty’s curfew is at 10 and don’t let him tell you otherwise.”
“I’ll tuck him in myself, madam.”
“Traitors! Both of you!”
When the outline is done, his belly full of toast and the outside properly dark, Eddie finds himself alone in the living room. Claudia advised him to help himself to the kitchen if he got hungry and not to stay up too late. She also told him Steve had a closing shift that day and always drives his friend home, but should be back soon as well.
Eddie manages to write the beginning of his stupid essay before he hears the keys jingle at the front door. He’s itching to look up and seek out Steve, but only does so when he hears him stop by the doorway. He’s surprised to see him but quickly schools his expression into an easy smile.
“Eddie! Hi!”
“Hi.” Eddie gives him a small wave.
“Staying over?” Steve walks in, eyeing the bedding next to him.
“Yeah.” He nods and points at the notebook in front of him. “Gotta finish an essay for tomorrow.”
“Uh, good luck.” Steve winces. “Want something to eat? Drink?” He points towards the kitchen, where he’s headed. Eddie shakes his head.
“I’m good, thanks.”
He’s written three sentences by the time Steve leaves the kitchen and walks towards the bathroom. The sound of a running shower is incredibly distracting. He can picture a small waterfall, deep in the forest and glistening in the golden green sunbeams. Close by is a clearing, created by countless adventurers stopping by to refresh before continuing their journey. They’d strip naked, men and women alike, fighters and mages, dipping in the chilly water to clean off the dirt of the road, the sweat from fighting off petty criminals. The water would be just deep enough to tease at the curve of his ass, lapping against the skin and mocking any bystanders for their solid form, making them wish they could liquify too and slip over the rippling muscles, trace the dips and—
Bad Eddie!
He blinks so rapidly that he gets dizzy, but the paper in front of him becomes visible again. The shower is still running and he reminds himself he’s not into jocks. He’s not into his friends’ siblings, not into whatever Steve Henderson is, no matter how objectively attractive.
He writes another two sentences by the time the bathroom door opens and he makes a point of not looking up. The smell of coconut walks by and he focuses on the tip of his pen. He hears the fridge door open and the steps reach his spot by the couch again.
“Beer?”
The water still clings to the weary adventurer, dripping from his hair. He has no shame, no place for it in the life he leads, not with a body like that. There’s a towel strewn around his shoulders and he was nice enough to put on underwear. He’s holding two cans of chilled beer, and all Eddie can say is:
“Please.”
He’s not expecting him to sit down next to him, smelling of coconut and damp skin, reddened from hot water and scrubbing it with a towel.
“Cherish it, we’re drinking half of my weekly allowance.”
“You have a beer allowance?” Eddie gapes at him and Steve just nods, like it’s normal.
“I’m not 21 yet but Claudia knows I’ve been drinking already anyway. So as long as I’m doing it safely and out of Dustin’s eyesight, she’s okay with it. We share wine sometimes.”
"That's nice." Eddie smiles, cracking his can open. "Wayne doesn't monitor my alcohol intake, but it's not like I'm partying much. I just drink with him or with my band sometimes." He shrugs and takes a sip. It's a more expensive brand than he's used to but all beer tastes the same to him anyway.
"Wayne is your uncle, right?" Steve asks, lowering his own can.
Eddie suddenly realizes it's nice to be remembered as something more than a freak or a Satanist. He gulps down the bitter liquid.
"Uh, yeah. I live with him. Been since I started middle school."
Steve nods thoughtfully, staring at the wall. For reasons he doesn't dare to name, Eddie wishes his eyes were on him instead.
"Your band is uh, something Coffin? Sorry, I don't remember." He turns towards him and smiles sheepishly and Eddie is taking it all back, take these dark brown eyes away from his face immediately. Steve knows half of his band's name? Be still his traitorous heart!
"Corroded Coffin," he chokes out.
Steve snaps his fingers.
"That's it! You guys were at the talent show a couple of years back, right?"
Be still, be still, be still.
"Yeah," he manages. "I'm surprised you remember."
Steve chuckles, but it's not a pleasant one. Eddie prepares himself to be ripped into shreds. Again. He should be used to that by this point, shouldn't he? But his ego is as easily bruised as it is big.
"How could I not? The biggest disaster Hawkins middle has seen in years."
Eddie winces. It was expected and it still hurt. At least his not-crush could finally go further into the 'not; category.
Bust Steve had to open his stupid mouth again.
"It was stupid, in my opinion. You guys are clearly talented, and the music you play shouldn't matter. Most people don't like metal--hell, I don't like metal." He slaps his hand onto his bare chest, making Eddie nod, because yes, he's listening, he's paying attention, and he is looking at his hairy pecs, thank you. "But it was a talent show, judges should be more objective." He slumps into the back of the couch. "You were great on the guitar, I've never heard anyone play like that. I was surprised you could sing too," he says, rolling his head to the side to look at Eddie, who chuckles nervously.
"Why, do I not look like I have an angelic voice?" he asks, tilting his head.
Steve shakes his head, making a lazy motion against the couch cushion. The closing shift and the beer seem to be getting to him.
"I guess I wasn't expecting you to be so..." He tilts his head to the side and rolls it back, considering his thoughts and how to voice them out. "Multifaceted?" he offers hesitantly like it's not a word he uses often. Eddie can relate. "I had heard the music teacher talk about your ear, how you can pick up any song insanely fast. I know your English essays get praised, and I know you're unafraid to be yourself, against all odds. It's something I couldn't do..." he trails off, suddenly looking sadder than Eddie knew how to deal with. But to his relief, Steve shakes his head to get back on track. "I just wasn't expecting you to have a nice voice like that. In Hellfire, too. It's like you're taking on a completely new persona. It sounds..." He hesitates before his next words." Freeing." He decides, nodding minutely to himself. "Like you can just tap into another dimension, a nice one," he presses for some reason. "And just live it out. Like for a moment, you're becoming a different person."
Eddie considers him. The thoughtful look on his face that he's still not qualified to deal with.
"What's wrong with you?" he asks and he hopes against all hope that it doesn't come off condescending. He's genuinely curious, hell, genuinely worried. What makes someone like Steve--America's poster boy, attractive and athletic--think this way?
Steve rolls his head towards him again and his smile is everything but joyful.
"I'm not sure," he admits. "The adult life is more than I've bargained for, I guess." He shrugs, but Eddie knows it's the easy, dismissive answer. And he feels like he needs to get to the bottom of this, his essay be damned. Happily.
"You live with Ms. Henderson, though. You don't have to be an adult-adult," he points out and waits, hoping he's not prying too much.
"Yeah, but..." Steve seems to be collapsing in on himself. "A lot has happened," he says as much as Eddie knows at this point. "And I've been feeling so small against the world, against the universe..."
Eddie's surprised at the mention of the whole universe, but it's not like he hasn't been thinking about it too, so he nods encouragingly.
"And I'm so grateful that Claudia took me in, I'm so relieved..." He hesitates for a millisecond before his face hardens. "That I don't have to deal with my parents anymore," he finishes with conviction. "But at this point, I don't know who I am. High school doesn't matter, the sports teams don't matter. I didn't get to college, I'm working a shitty job, and not even full-time!" He throws a hand in the air. "Actual high schoolers are taking up all the hours."
Eddie winces.
"You're talking to a super super senior here, I don't think I'm doing much better," he points out.
"But you have the band," Steve counters. "It's fun, you have friends for it and if you do it right, it's a great career path."
"If we do it right."
Steve turns abruptly towards him, eyes wide, before he settles back down with a sigh.
"I believe you can. With your insane guitar skills and all," he offers.
Eddie chuckles.
"Thanks, man. But I'm pretty sure you can figure something out, too. I don't believe your 'sports don't matter' thing, there's a lot of money put into it," he points out, not hiding his disdain but Steve only snorts at his tone. "And you probably could land a role in a hair commercial if you tried. Hell, with your looks you could easily become an actor," he reassures his reluctant night companion.
"So you think all there is to me is my good looks?" Steve asks, rolling his head towards him again, this time pouting.
It kind of is what he said, isn't it?
"Well, no." He straightens up, ready to fix his mistake. Well, maybe not ready, but hoping. "Henderson, uh, Dustin, sings you praises all the time and none of them are about your great hair."
"Good to know a high schooler values me," Steve scoffs, his pout deepening.
"So!" Eddie ignores him. "If you're a good person and a pretty face, that's a whole world opening up for you. Because as sad as it is, people are simple and need pretty things to ogle. It's what sells and you could totally use it."
He looks at Steve again and when the pout doesn't disappear, he realizes he just dug himself a deeper hole, doubling down on relying on looks being Steve's only option. He stares at his bottom lip as if it could somehow pull him out. It moves and he's hoping for some guidance, but all he gets is...
"Should I just become a stripper, then?"
The flash of images is like a bullet to his head. Steve in fishnets and ridiculously high heels, bending on a pole, chest hair sticking to his pecs with sweat and shining with glitter. His lips tinted with lip gloss--
"I mean, um..." Why is Steve's hairy chest right there for him to see? "Who am I to stop you, right?" he offers with a nervous smile. "If it makes you money, it's a job."
"I guess." He shrugs, eyes still on Eddie, but the pout is finally gone, so he can breathe easier. It's been replaced with a thoughtful expression. Steve presses the back of his hand to his arm. "Would you come to watch me?"
"Huh?" Eddie frowns at him, at the hand touching him, a single finger running against the sleeve of his shirt.
"If I was a stripper," Steve clarifies.
Would he?
It's never been something he considered, the environment more fit for sleazy older guys who can't get a girl, or businessmen too busy to bother with one. Or bachelor parties. Would he go to a strip club then, if he was invited? Probably. But would he go for someone specifically? That sounds stalkery. Would he go if it was Gareth?
Gareth would look stupid in fishnets.
But if he asked Eddie, for moral support, would he? Probably. He tries to be a good friend. So he half-nods, half-shrugs.
"If you wanted me to."
"But would you want to?" Steve presses.
"I've never been to a strip club, I don't know." Eddie raises his shoulder in a defensive shrug, kind of lost in the weird turn their conversation has taken.
Even more lost when Steve's hand drops lower, the back of his fingers reaching the hem of his sleeve and touching skin. The light scrape of his fingernails sends a shiver across his bones. He goes lower and lower, tantalizingly slow into the ticklish spot on Eddie's elbow.
"I'd give you a preview before the show, you could judge if it's good enough," he offers instead, hand sliding down to his thigh, resting just above the knee. Squeezing gently.
Eddie doesn't see Steve anymore. Just his big hand wrapped around his leg. There's a tiny mole on his wrist and a light dusting of hair all the way to his fingers.
"Would you want me to strip for you?" Steve presses, snapping his attention back to himself.
His brain is uncharacteristically empty, and It takes him a long while to register, process and understand the heavy gaze Steve's giving him, the fingers digging into the meat of his thigh, the boy next to him leaning in, his eyes dropping to Eddie's lips.
Eddie jumps up.
"What?!"
Steve is up as well, hands out like he's placating a wild animal. Understandably, because Eddie feels like one. He wants to run like a startled gazelle, or drop dead like an opossum. But he's there frozen like a deer caught in car's headlights. Are the doors locked? How much time would he lose looking for the key if it's not in the lock? Maybe he should try the window instead?
"Shhh, please," Steve's hissing in desperation, but Eddie doesn't want to look at him. "I'll leave, I'm sorry. Please forget about it, I'm sorry."
He sounds even worse than Eddie feels, so he risks a glance towards him. His face is pale in the dim-lit living room, eyes widened in panic.
Maybe Eddie has been the car all along.
He knows Steve would flee if he reached out, so he doesn't dare to, slowly shows his open palms again, empty of weapons or judgement.
"Hey, no, it's okay. I don't care about that. You just surprised me." Understatement of the century. Henderson's brother coming onto him? Impossible, abstract, a fever dream. Maybe he did have too much of Ms. Claudia's delicious earl grey. Something must have been in the tea, the school has been trying to tell him not to trust the Brits all along.
"You don't care?" Steve repeats, not looking like he's going to puke at the very least.
Eddie considers his words.
"Not in a 'I'm gonna punch you' way," he offers the best he's got for now. Which even he has to admit, is fucking shit.
Steve finally relaxes, or rather deflates, half turning towards the dark corridor.
"Thanks. Goodnight."
As the stairs creak under his steps, Eddie is still processing. He slumps back down onto the couch and for once is happy to find a distraction from his thoughts in the form of an unfinished essay. The thing gets done in no time but he barely sleeps that night.

Um, yes. Parents allowed their kids to roam freely in the 70's and 80's.
I'm a GenXer born in 1968. I had only one sibling and he is profoundly disabled with autism (basically non-verbal, has lived in a group home since he was 18) so he had a nanny starting when I was about 13 and after that I was more supervised than most of my peers. Nonetheless, ages 7 through 12 I could leave my home in the morning on a day when there was no school and not return until dinner. I had a watch from a very young age.
My parents told me not to leave the island (small residential island near Savannah, GA) and I obeyed them, but if I had disobeyed they wouldn't have known unless something had happened to me. They may or may not have had phone numbers for most of the houses I was likely to walk or bike to, but those were landlines, obviously, and only got answered when both possible and convenient.
These clips on youtube? Are not fake.
youtube
As I once said to a snarly Boomer when my own kids were still fairly small (I have 3 GenZ kids, now all in their 20s): "Nancy, when you were raising children, if something happened people would cry with you and bring you a casserole. Now if something happens, Mommy goes to jail."
Times have CHANGED.
And as @lightandwinged brings up, it is hardly true that children didn't get hurt back then. I was once sexually assaulted while walking home. A friend's little brother touched a spinning ... machine (I wish I could tell you what it was) installed in his backyard and lost the tips of three fingers. I have two friends my own age who grew up elsewhere in the USA who were both, separately, snatched up by a stranger and sexually assaulted.
I was myself once walking home (different story from the first sexual assault, sigh) and realized I was being followed by a car. I went to the first friend's house I could and called my mother to ask her to pick me up so I wouldn't have to risk whatever that driver might have had in mind. I felt lucky she was home to answer the phone.
Younger people will probably have difficulty believing this, but my mother refused to drive less than a mile to come get me, though I explained about the suspicious car. She told me I was making up a story so I wouldn't have to walk home. She called me lazy. She was not abusive. She was generally a good mother. But she was quite sure, on that occasion, that it was infinitely more likely that I was a lazy asshole than a child in any danger from a suspicious stranger.
Luckily my friends' parents were willing to let me hang out for a while, and by the time I felt safe to leave and try walking home again, the car was gone.
So it isn't that kids never got hurt back then. It isn't that kids never got deliberately targeted by bad people and therefore hurt, either. It's just that it was assumed "normal" and "ordinary" and even "correct" that children were given a great deal more freedom and autonomy.
I think it may well be because children are considered more "valuable" now, but in the way of gold or diamonds, unfortunately. Children are a valuable commodity. A valuable product. Not really so much in the way of "all human life is precious" and definitely not in the way of "every child needs every possible opportunity to grow into the most amazing adult they have the potential to become." If it were one of those we'd find ways to balance this equation. Because children do benefit from freedom and the ability to take some risks. They benefit quite a lot.

This is a legitimate and damaging cultural shift for all involved parties and it needs to be addressed.

Note
I need Bruce trying to gentle parent Dick as a child. Like maybe Bruce isn’t exactly a good parent but tries. When Dick starts throwing massive tantrums, he just puts Dick in an empty room for time out. This does not stop Dick as he ends up destroying the room despite nothing being in it. When Dick does something Bruce doesn’t approve of, Bruce just says softly “Don’t do that.” Dick does it again. Like I need him trying and failing. Nothing he does works. Then Dick decides to turn that gentle parenting back on Bruce. No whenever Bruce makes him mad, he puts Bruce in a time-out room. Whenever Bruce is being dumb, he just gives him a pout and says “Don’t do that.” Bruce actually does his best to listen to Dick because he thinks it might foster trust or encourage Dick to follow along when Bruce does it to him. It doesn’t really work. Dick still doesn’t listen and now Bruce is being parented by the child he’s supposed to be raising. The only plus is that it calms down Dick’s more violent urges because instead of destroying shit he just sends Bruce away.
Then Dick gets shot, and something in Bruce snaps. There is no more gentle parenting, no more kind words or soft punishments. He needs to make Dick listen, and if that means hurting him, then so be it. He loses sight of the fact that Dick is still a kid, an incredibly traumatized one at that. He still lets Dick parent him, although he’s more snappy about it. Dick stops being soft with him, too, instead telling him harshly to get to bed, threatening to sic Alfred on him, or screaming in his face about how he’s the worst. Somehow they’ve fallen into this horrible dynamic and neither of them know how to get out of it. Dick blames himself for being such a troubled kid, and though Bruce never says it, Dick knows he blames him too. So Dick leaves.
Eventually, over the years their family grows, but Bruce’s softness never really comes back. He’s meaner, more controlling, even downright cruel at times. And one day when the entire batfam is arguing with him over how unreasonable he is, one them snaps and says “Jesus, B, who turned you into such a fucking asshole?” and before Bruce can even think about it, he responds “Dick did.” He closes his mouth in shock, face going ashen while everyone else freezes. The words cut straight into Dick’s heart. He replies with the only words he can think of at the moment “Don’t do that.” He meant for the words to be cold, confident. Instead they came out soft, chiding and pained. Before anyone can say anything else, Bruce turns on his heel and leaves. They all try to follow him to argue more but then stare, confused, as he walks into an empty room, locking the door behind him. He doesn’t come out for a long time.
🥺 rip out my fucking heart why don’t you, damn.
But now I’m just thinking of the scenario with Bruce saying Dick turned him into an asshole, and the whole room freezes.
Jason didn’t expect an actual answer. Tim and Damian thought Bruce would have just chided Jason for his language. Dick thought a Bruce was just going to keep yelling.
But then the way he says, “Dick did” without even thinking about it, without hesitation, it shocks everyone.
And Dick feels like he wants to cry, because sure, he knew he was a pretty fucked up kid. He was troubled. Traumatized. A problem child. But Bruce for the most part had been so patient when he was little. And when Bruce started being an asshole after Dick got shot, it wasn’t like Dick couldn’t fight right back. It was almost like a game, sometimes. But Dick has always felt so guilty about it, because Bruce had been so soft spoken and patient and nice, and then Dick went and fucked him up. Dick ruined him. It’s all Dick’s fault.
Dick has always had that thought in the back of his mind. But he’s never had any real proof that Bruce felt the same.
Now he does. And Dick’s chest feels hollow as he stares at a horrified looking Bruce.
All Dick can manage to say is a soft, desperate, “Don’t do that,” just like Bruce always tried to use with him, before he started using yelling as his go-to response.
Then Bruce turns without saying anything and walks right into an empty room, and Dick feels like he’s going to throw up. He turns too, towards his bike, and he ignores the way his siblings are calling after him. He turns off his comms and rides home, going way too fast, feeling the wind whip around him, and tears blurring his vision until he blinks them away.
When he gets back to his Blüdhaven apartment, he slides in through the window and doesn’t even change out of his costume before he’s puking in the bathroom.
He silences his phone, turns in his security system, and then spends the next hour sitting under the water in his shower, spacing out until the water goes ice cold and he has to get out. Then he crawls into bed, pulls out Zitka from under the pillows to hug to his chest, and buries his head under his pillows. If he doesn’t pay attention to it, he can pretend he’s not still crying because of the guilt.
He stays like that for a long time, not moving. He falls asleep for a while, wakes up in a panic, rinse and repeat.
He doesn’t know how long it’s been, but the next thing he knows, someone is sitting down on his bed next to him, laying a hesitant hand in his back. And he knows it’s Bruce, and it just makes him feel even worse.
“Go away,” he begs, the words muffled under his pillows.
“I didn’t mean it,” Bruce tries to tell him.
“Yes you did,” Dick says miserably. “And it’s true. I know it’s true, you don’t have to pretend it’s not.”
“It wasn’t you who made me an asshole,” Bruce says. “The situation-”
“Caused by me,” Dick argues.
“You were just a child, Dick.” Bruce sighs.
“A horrible, no good, rotten child!”
“Don’t say that about yourself,” Bruce says firmly. “It’s not true, Dick. I don’t care what anyone says, you were not a rotten child. You were just a little boy. I was the adult, and I should have found other solutions that worked for you.”
Dick doesn’t say anything, but he eventually moves out from under the pillows to curl up with his head in Bruce’s lap. Bruce plays with his hair, and the two of them stay quiet for a long time. Neither of them really knows what to say. They’re both still upset. And they’re both awful at dealing with their feelings.
The sadness and anger and guilt they’re feeling from this fight won’t be resolved. They won’t really talk about it. It won’t be talked about without someone else bringing it up, and that won’t happen for a while.
But for now, Bruce is going to comfort his son. And for now, Dick will let him.

Tumblr media
Zayne:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The clock above the stove ticked softly, its hands inching past midnight.
Zayne ran a tired hand through his slightly tousled hair as he leaned back on the couch. His white shirt was wrinkled, the scent of hospital antiseptic still faint on his skin. The tie had been the first casualty the moment he stepped through the door. Now it lay somewhere near the front shoe rack, forgotten in favor of the warm home. and you.
You’d been waiting. Despite the exhaustion in your bones from days of Constant Wanderer missions, you’d stayed up just for this. For the quiet comfort between you two, For him. The two of you sat side by side now, a half-finished dinner sitting on the table, the sound of some low, peaceful movie playing on the screen, though neither of you were really watching it anymore.
He turned slightly, eyes tracing your profile in the dim living room light. “You’re still in one piece, celebration worthy” he murmured, voice low and warm.
You smiled faintly. “Just barely. Wanderers don’t take breaks.”
“Neither do surgeons” he replied, and his hand brushed against yours.
You shifted closer to him without thinking. It was one of those small, shared silences. The ones filled with so much more than words could express.
Zayne exhaled, pulling his arm around your shoulders, settling you against his side. His head tilted to press a slow kiss to your temple, just the kind of tired affection built from years of choosing each other again and again, even when everything else demanded otherwise.
He kissed you again, this time lingering near your cheekbone, fingertips brushing your arm. Your body eased into his side, melting into the rare comfort.
And then—
SSLLLUUUURP.
You both froze.
Zayne stiffened mid-movement.
Another sluuurp, unmistakably from a juice box, echoed from somewhere in the room.
Very slowly, you turned your head toward the sound.
Standing in the corner of the living room, half in the shadows and completely still, was Elias.
Wide-eyed. Tiny. Hair sticking up in every direction. Holding a grape juice box in one hand and sipping it with all the dramatics of a cartoon villain.
Zayne blinked. “...Elias?”
The six-year-old didn’t move. Didn’t blink. Just sipped.
You sat up straight, heart thumping. “I thought you were asleep!”
“I was…” Elias said flatly, lowering the juice. “Then I heard Dad come home. And i was thirsty, and i couldn't reach the glass cupboard for water...”
Zayne ran a hand down his face, half-laughing in disbelief. “You scared us. You were just standing there.”
Elias took another slow sip, completely unaffected. “I didn’t want to interrupt.”
You squinted. “Interrupt what?”
He looked between you and Zayne, blinked slowly, then stared at the TV like the answer was too obvious to say out loud.
Zayne sighed. “Elias… were you watching us this whole time?”
The boy gave a single nod.
Zayne looked almost horrified. “Why?”
Elias shrugged. “You were...hugging. I didn’t know if I was supposed to say something.”
You stifled a laugh and patted the seat next to you. “Come here, juice ghost.”
He climbed onto the couch, wedging himself firmly between you and Zayne. He leaned slightly against his father, still holding the juice box with both hands like a protective artifact, knowing daddy deary might start nagging on the fact that he drank sugary liquid late at night.
“You should go to bed,” Zayne said softly, glancing down at his son.
“Okay. later” Elias leaned closer into him, almost shyly. “I just wanted to… be here.”
Zayne blinked once, the corner of his mouth twitching. He draped an arm around Elias wordlessly, pulling him in without a fuss.
The three of you sat there in the quiet.
The movie played on.
Rafayel:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The bridge glowed under warm, golden lights strung between its beams like stars, their reflections glittering in the water below. The night air was cool but not cold it was perfect, the breeze was carrying a soft scent of sugar and sea salt from the snack carts lining the cobblestone walkway of the bridge. Tourists bustled everywhere. couples holding hands, kids licking their ice creams, musicians strumming guitars with bright smiles.
Rafayel, always the picture of effortless elegance, walked beside you with a quiet kind of pride. His dark-ish purple hair fell slightly over his brow, ruffled by the sea breeze. A charcoal-grey scarf wrapped loosely around his neck. The edges of his long coat brushed against his boots as he strolled at a relaxed pace, holding a paper cone of roasted chestnuts. Feeding seraphina some.
Your hand was clasped firmly in his. Seraphina skipped ahead of you, her curls bouncing, face sticky from the powdered donuts she’d practically inhaled ten minutes ago. She was wearing the little yellow jacket you picked out for her months ago but never got the chance to give until now.
“Look, look!” Seraphina shouted, rushing toward the side of the bridge. “There’s a boat down there with pink lights!”
Rafayel chuckled, shifting his hand so his fingers laced through yours more tightly. “This place is surreal,” he murmured. “Almost feels like it was painted for us.”
You smiled at that. “Spoken like a man who’s painted enough cities to know.”
He stopped, tugging you just slightly closer to the railing, his voice lowering so only you could hear it. “No painting I’ve ever made could compare to you in this light”
You flushed and rolled your eyes at him, even as your heart fluttered. “You’re embarrassing.”
“I should be. I was gone for two weeks in Paris.” He leaned in slowly, his hand moving to the small of your back. “Missed everything. Especially this face.”
Before you could respond, Rafayel dipped his head and kissed you—soft and sure. Not rushed at all, Just the kind of kiss that said I know you. I love you. I’m home.
You melted into it for a breath or two, your hand settling lightly against his chest.
Then—
“EWWWWWWWW!”
The high-pitched shriek of your daughter cracked through the moment like a bottle dropped on tile.
You broke the kiss, laughing into Rafayel’s coat as Seraphina clutched each of your legs like she was about to faint. Her cheeks were puffed, her eyes wide with theatrical horror.
“I saw that!” she squealed. “Daaaad, that’s so gross! as gross as a legless crab!”
Rafayel grinned, turning toward her with an utterly unrepentant expression. “Your mom’s beautiful. You know I’m allowed little fishy.”
“Not in public!” Seraphina squeaked, stamping her foot. “Other people are looking! They’re gonna think you guys are in love!”
“Oh nooo, what shall we do now?! the seas are going to dry up and its all going to be my faullttt!” he said sarcastically, bending down to pick her up despite her squirming protests.
“Yes daddy! it is, and you two are married. That’s different from being in love!” she protested, though she was giggling as she tried to wriggle out of his arms.
You laughed, watching Rafayel nuzzle his cheek against hers while she let out a muffled scream of mock indignation. “Stop kissing everyone! You’re gonna get me cooties!”
“That’s the risk you take when you travel with artists,” Rafayel said, his eyes flicking to you with a wink. “We’re known for being passionate.”
"no!” Seraphina, now draped like a limp cat in her father’s arms.
“You didn't get that from me,” you teased, pinching her nose lightly.
“No, I get my normal me from you!”
“See?” Rafayel chuckled. “Now she’s turning into a critic. We’re doomed.”
Eventually, Seraphina insisted on walking again—only after Rafayel promised not to kiss anyone for the rest of the bridge walk. She marched forward with her chest puffed and her donut box like a shield, keeping at least a foot of distance in case her parents got weird again.
But every few seconds, you caught her glancing back. Her eyes were squinted suspiciously, sure, but they held something else too.
Joy.
Caleb:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s been a long day, you’ve been working two missions back to back in the new work program that the hunter’s association has established, also thanks to that Caleb had to take some shifts off to take care of your little 7 year old son Noah.
The sun was already setting by the time you trudged up the front porch steps, the weight of your gear dragging at your limbs. Your boots were covered in dust and dirt, Your shoulder throbbed from the recoil of your blaster rifle. Two missions back-to-back was brutal. But eversince your boss had been moved and replaced, the new work program at the Hunter’s Association didn’t exactly ask if you were tired. You were one of the few capable of handling the more grotesque, unpredictable alien creatures that kept breaching containment zones. So, you did what you always did: pushed through.
The scent of grilled cheese and Fried wings wafted through the front door the moment you stepped inside. The lights were warm and soft. Your hearing still rang faintly from the concussive force of earlier explosions, but even so, you caught the faint patter of socks on hardwood before you heard the shout:
“MOM!”
You barely had time to drop your pack before Noah launched himself at you like a guided missile, arms flung wide. He crashed into your legs with all the force his small body could manage, wrapping himself tightly around your waist.
“Whoa—hey, kiddo,” you breathed, crouching down, even though your back screamed in protest. “Easy, I’m still in one piece. I promise!”
Noah sniffled, clearly holding back tears. “You said just one mission.”
“I know,” you said, brushing his messy black hair back. “Got reassigned last minute. You know how it is.”
Caleb’s footsteps came from the kitchen, heavy and precise. “That’s not an excuse” he said, but his voice was quiet.
You looked up at him.
He had the sleeves of his gray undershirt rolled to the his biceps, a dish towel slung over one shoulder. His uniform jacket was draped over a nearby chair. His hair was slightly tousled—clearly Noah had gotten his hands in it earlier, but his eyes, those stormy Purplish pink eyes, locked on yours like you were the only person in the room.
“You’re home,” he said simply.
You nodded. “Mhm”
He didn’t say anything else. He just walked forward, wrapped an arm firmly around your shoulder, and pulled you into him. You let your face fall against his chest. The warmth of him, the strength, the safety, for a few seconds, it melted every ache of your bruises and every ugly image from the day. His hand smoothed down your back, a firm, slow drag. Then you felt him tilt his head down and press a lingering kiss to your temple, right against the place where your skin was still smudged with ash.
You closed your eyes. Sank into it.
And then—
“EWWWWWW!”
Caleb didn’t move. His lips curved against your skin instead.
“Disgusting!” Noah wailed, half-laughing, half-betrayed. “That’s—gross, Daddy!”
You pulled back just enough to glance at your son. He was standing there with both hands over his eyes, fingers spread wide enough to peek through, his nose scrunched like he’d smelled rotten milk.
Caleb smirked. “It’s affection, Noah. You better get used to it.”
“No! You’re not supposed to kiss Mom! She’s a Hunter! She fights monsters, she’s cool, she doesn’t get kissed like that!” Noah flailed his arms dramatically and dropped to the couch like he was dying.
You couldn’t help the laugh that escaped.
“Hunters don’t get affection, huh?” you teased, glancing at Caleb.
“I guess I missed the memo,” Caleb said, brushing your hair off your cheek and leaning in again—purposefully slower this time—to press a quick kiss to your lips.
Noah screamed again. “DADDY STOP! I’M RIGHT HERE!”
“Then stop looking,” Caleb muttered with zero remorse, pulling you even closer.
“I have EYES!”
You chuckled, resting your forehead against Caleb’s. “Come on now, no more, He’s gonna lose it.”
“He’ll survive,” he murmured. Then, quieter, meant only for you: “I missed you.”
You softened. “I missed you too.”
Behind you, Noah was flailing around on the couch again, trying to smother himself with a pillow and declaring that this was “THE WORST DAY OF MY LIFE.”
Caleb rolled his eyes but gave you a final squeeze before letting you go. “Come on Pipsqueak 1 and 2 . Food is still warm.”

A number of these are faked and modified, with effects applied or other processing done.
1. Screaming Piha
Lipaugus vociferans
This was the first one that gave it away. It just seemed…obviously wrong.
This has been trimmed out of a slowed-down clip. Specifically this one, from the San Diego Zoo, which also features the actual call:
youtube
And another example that seems to be legitimate:
youtube
And here's a link to eBird, from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. We'll be hearing a lot from them in this post, because they're a great resource for bird information, especially in the US, but also internationally:
https://ebird.org/species/scrpih1
2. Australian Bustard
Not bustand.
Ardeotis australis
This one seems fairly accurate. Maybe some sort of effect applied — or maybe just poor audio quality. This seems to specifically be part of the mating display. (Start ~1:40, if the video doesn't on its own.)
youtube
youtube
And a CLO link. The last audio in the "top audio" section has a poor quality recording of this call, with the bird quite a distance off:
https://ebird.org/species/ausbus1
3. Common starling
(Sturnus vulgaris — European starling in the US)
Why did they use common names for the rest and not this one? Probably because "common starling" sounds bo-ring, and they want you to watch their doctored-up video.
This one has really obvious reverb applied. And I sure as shit haven't ever heard a starling do that. Though they are sometimes mimics, so it might be copying something. But it's hard to trust with the other effects applied; it's altered at a minimum.
Cornell Lab Or Ornithology is a great place to find out about North American birds (and naturalized nonnative birds like the starling). They have wonderful photo libraries and extensive sound libraries of calls, songs, warning calls, and even juvenile calls. You can hear great examples of the most common sounds starlings make. You should also check out their Merlin app if you want help with bird visual ID and sound ID!
4. Great Potoo or Common Potoo
Nyctibius grandis or Nyctibius griseus
From one end to the other, they've gone from a Latin binomial to not even specifying the full common name. This seems to be a great potoo, based on the patterns, coloration, and eye color (pupils would generally not be all dilated during the day, so we should see the yellow, I think, if it were a common). But I'm no expert on South American birds.
This video seems to be outright faked. And the audio was recorded from a distance, not close up, hence the echoing.
This video clip has been reposted a bunch by different accounts using a first-person descriptor, but this seems to be the original version of this video…and it does NOT make that noise in it:
CLO link for the great potoo (does not make this sound):
https://ebird.org/species/grepot1
And the common potoo. This is actually the call of the common potoo, despite the faked video:
https://ebird.org/species/compot1
5. Superb lyrebird
Menura novaehollandiae
This one doesn't seem to be faked. This fellow is a prolific mimic, so it could make that sound. Or loads of other sounds. (And this is a male, based on those tailfeathers — which are also the source of its common name, because they honestly do resemble the ancient Greek harp-like instrument, the lyre, when displaying.)
Tumblr media
QI had some fun with this one a while back:
youtube
And here's the CLO link, of course. Tons and tons of different calls and recordings — be sure to scroll down to the "top audio" section, where there are over a dozen more recordings! And some do include sounds kind of like this one. This bird is a lot of fun to listen to:
https://ebird.org/species/suplyr1
6. Shoebill
Balaeniceps rex
Yep. They do that.
Though the echo in that room is really exaggerating things. They don't really sound like a machine gun.
youtube
The CLO site has a great recording, as you can hear it vocalizing at the same time as the beak clattering:
https://ebird.org/species/shoebi1
7. Kiwi
(there are five species, and I do not know enough about kiwis to tell you which ones each of these are)
This is a real recording. Though not the only sound a kiwi might make. You can hear some others at the beginning. And they've amped the saturation for some reason.
youtube
Another recording of a different call:
youtube
And one with a mix of calls:
youtube
And more!
youtube
CLO links:
Southern Brown Kiwi — Apteryx australis: https://ebird.org/species/sobkiw1
Okarito Brown Kiwi — Apteryx rowi: https://ebird.org/species/okbkiw1
North Island Brown Kiwi — Apteryx mantelli: https://ebird.org/species/nibkiw1
Little Spotted Kiwi — Apteryx owenii: https://ebird.org/species/liskiw1
Great Spotted Kiwi — Apteryx maxima: https://ebird.org/species/grskiw1
Weird and wonderful compilation of strange bird noises.

★ Leona x Gn!Reader, Reader is Yuu here! Mentions of Grim too but like, BARELY. A little over 1k words!
★ SYNOPSIS: In short, you made realizations about your relationship with Leona that you probably should've had... months ago.
★ A little warning for possible OOC, bad writing, and grammar mistakes, hehe! Regardless, I hope you enjoy :D
Tumblr media
Being sure of yourself was something that you took pride in. That was the case back on Earth and especially the case now that you were thrown into Twisted Wonderland— a place so unfamiliar that you might as well have been considered an alien.
Maybe you already were? You were magicless with a strange fire-hazard for a cat-raccoon thing. Even now as you walked towards the botanical garden, you were carrying Grim. It wasn't hard at that point to take into account the way the other students looked at you. With their scrutinizing eyes and avoidance, you figured that your guess isn't so far off from the general opinion of the public.
You didn't care, though! You're CONFIDENT that you've experienced enough to have already met the worst jerks that this “d!$ney-knockoff house of villains-ahh” college had to offer.
Well,
that is…
…until you met Leona Kingscholar.
The most prickly jerk you ever came to know. A man so VILE that you're on your way to meet up with him in the garden for your regularly scheduled naps.
Honest to whatever God your current world had, as much as you wanted to moan about how long the stick in Leona’s mud of a butt is, he's nooooot… the worst guy ever. Actually, deny it as you might, the prince of the Afterglow Savannah was more of a friend than a jerk to you.
Still a jerk though.
One heck of a comfortable one, at that (much to your dismay). In fact, in recent times, he's quite the substitute for a pillow, if you could say so yourself. And you do! You even insisted on meeting today just to nap because you sleep better when Leona is your pillow.
"Huh?"
You suddenly stop walking, hit with the reality and weight of your own thoughts.
You use... Leona as… a pillow?
You… you use Leona as a pillow…???
You… huh…????
????
‘I DO WHAT NOW???’ You suddenly drop Grim onto the floor in the middle of the hallway, hands flying to your head as a slow, slow, quiet crisis takes over you. It was as if you gained sentience the moment you thought too deeply about your relationship with him.
No, but seriously!? Now that you put more of a conscious effort to evaluate your actions, you realized that you've been so affectionate with Leona! Using him as a pillow, resting on his side, napping with him in the garden and in his bed…!?!? In his bed for goodness’ sake!
How come no one has told you that you do these things!? (Ace and Deuce have mentioned it before.)
Why has no one mentioned how weird it is for you to act that way with Leona!? (Many have mentioned it: Namely the Heartslabyul folks, the first years, and even Grim.)
Is this even legal!? (It is but you were not being rational at that moment.)
“OH MY GOD!?”
So much for being sure of yourself!
Tumblr media
Thinking back to your entire relationship, you wouldn't be able to say when it all started. When did the frightening lion of a beastman stop being so… frightening?
Was it after the Octavinelle fiasco when the subtle touches— lingering and often leaving an explicable amount of warmth in an otherwise tepid patch of skin— started to come about? You never would've thought that you'd say this but forced-proximity does wonders with communication and you did stay in his room for a good while (but you still don't advocate for it…).
Or was it after VDC when the softness held behind each of your gazes when you come across one another reared its worrying head?
Worrying to the point that the once untouchable prince became within reach of your hands, of your heart, and of your mind to be consumed with him, him, and only him.
When did the two of you stop being hesitant but oh so very careful as to avoid any alarm?
When exactly did the sands of your friendship break down into something so… different yet all the same? Like a sandcastle broken by the heavy tides. The foundation may have been broken and yet the material was still, irrevocably, sand.
Who knew a crisis driven by cuddles could induce metaphors?
And metaphors aside, you like the beach, and the sand, and the waves. Very much. It was always so warm to the touch, just like h— Oh.
When did—
“Oi, Herbivore, eyes on me.”
Leona's voice snaps you out of your overactive mind in an instant, as if your entire being knew that its main focus should be the person right in front of you. The person that had your left cheek cupped in his hand that could easily cover your entire face up if he wanted to do so.
But he won't. Especially when you haven't flinched away when you both knew how keen you were with keeping to yourself.
He would've backed off the moment you showed any reluctance. After all, your comfort is his priority. But you haven't shown him the slightest bit of discomfort and he was willing to take the chance to assume that perhaps he wasn't just seeing things when he thought you looked at him in a way no way else had before.
And by the Sevens were the two of you so compatible as similarly, your brain had decided to grow blank with only one thought to entertain it with.
No beastman should ever look that soft.
And yet, he does.
Because of me.
What the hell were you thinking? You weren't even fully conscious when you dragged your body to find his after your little crisis half an hour ago.
You supposed that that was simply another thing you aren't sure of.
“Herbivore, c'mon. Look at me. You can't possibly ignore me when you were the one who insisted on meeting up.” He almost whispers and you could've sworn that your heart had melted faster than anything under the scorching sun.
You almost felt like defying him just to see how far he'll go.
But you look at him anyways— eyes peering right into his viridescent ones that shined so ethereally under the setting sun.
You met this vile, vile man's gaze, growing worried as the sound of birds chirping could've beaten the quiet volume your voice had taken. Still, you spoke, albeit without any thinking,
“Oh, God, I like you.”
And at this point? That was apparently the one thing you were sure of.
Tumblr media
★ END NOTE: hiiii, I REALLY like Leona and SHORT YAP!! I always felt like he'll be the kind of love where you'll suddenly realize that you love him one day. Maybe the realization gets prompted because of how comforting he is, idk 👉👈 anyways!! header by me and stuff :D!

Sweet Temptations
Preview— Patreon Exclusive
Vampire x gn!reader— addiction, blood mention, double penetration (fangs and cock), rough sex, marking
Vampire Addict who’s going through some serious withdrawals right about now. And not just from the copious amounts of blood he’s used to drinking. But mostly from being forced away from you.
He’d been so used to seeing you every day and spendings hours and even days together after that. To suddenly be cut off from you is worse than being thrown outside in the middle of the day to be burned alive from the sun.
Vampire Addict can’t stop pacing his room, nibbling on his nails till he’s picked them off completely. Only for them to magically grow back seconds later and allow him to start the entire process over again. But nothing manages to keep his mind off of you. He’s completely stuck. And not just literally but figuratively too.
He can’t stop thinking about what you’re doing and who you’re doing it with. He had been your biggest supporter at the bar by far. He hogged all of your time and compensated you brilliantly for it.
Now you’re out there, still needing to work and going to other vamps to get it. Something about that sends his veins into a fiery rage… He really needed to feed. Preferably from you or no one at all.
Vampire Addict is seriously considering a hunger strike until his coven allowed him to see you. Though, no, that won’t work. If he’s about to go insane just from a lack of blood, taking it out completely might throw him over the edge.
Then he’d really be fucked and with no possibility of ever seeing you again. That won’t do, it won’t do. He needed to think again and do something about this.
Vampire Addict realized far too late he had come up with the dumbest fucking idea in history (he would know) when he decided to sneak out of his coven during broad daylight. Using nothing beside a dumbass umbrella to block the sun from its deadly rays.
This is a Patreon exclusive fic so you'll only be able to read it there! Check it out if you're interested in reading the entire fic and many more. I have a ton of other exclusive and early access fics that you can read there too!!

AHHH YES OFC OFC!! I love how this is turning into a little series :)
wbk reacting to you getting beaten up by a rival gang .𖥔 ݁ ˖
w/ SUGISHITA KYOTARO, UMEMIYA HAJIME, AND ENDO YAMATO
Tags: mentions of injuries and blood (nothing to graphic), mentions of fighting/violence, angst, hurt/comfort this is part 3!! part 1 (w/ suo, kiryuu, and kaji) and part 2 (w/ sakura, togame, and uryu) are here!!
Tumblr media
SUGISHITA KYOTARO ⋆˙⟡
Sugishita is always draped over you like a blanket and always holding your hand. He purposely orders more food than necessary so that you would never go hungry. He's always lending you his hoodies and jackets if you were out somewhere at night. After all, he would rather freeze to death than let you shiver for even a second.
All that being said, his favorite way to show you he cares is by giving you things. He doesn't give you anything overly expensive or flashy, but small items: smiskis, rings he finds in thrift stores, or tiny ceramic keychains of your favorite foods. You have a whole drawer in your dresser dedicated to the trinkets he gifts you.
One day, he was out with Umemiya and Tsubaki when his eyes zeroed in on a small poster card with artwork from your favorite anime. He froze, causing the older boys to bump into him.
"Sugishita-? Oh," Umemiya grins when he sees what Sugishita is staring at. "You should get it for her."
"Oh, that reminds me!" Tsubaki says, pulling something out of his purse. "I found this bracelet she might like as well. Here, here, take it to her as well."
Sugishita takes Tsubaki's bracelet and nods, before walking over to pick up the poster card. After checking out, he parts with his seniors, heading over to your home. He twirls the bracelet in his hands, watching the charms on the chain catch and reflect the sunlight. A tiny smile graced his face as he imagine holding you hand while it jingled on your wrist.
He gets to your front door and knocks, but he's met with no response. He tries again, but still nothing. She must not be home, he thinks, turning on his heel. However, just as he does, a giant crash sounds from inside your house. Sugishita whips around and starts pounding on your door again, calling out for you.
"[name]? [name]? Are you okay? Are you home?"
The door lock clicks and the door swings open. Sugishita's eyes widen as he takes in your appearance. You have a nasty gash on your forehead and your hands are all scraped. Your ankle is swollen as all hell, he's wondering how you're even upright.
Despite it all though, you still look up at him and with a small smile and a tiny voice you whisper, "Hi, Kyo."
"What the hell happened to you?" he asks, his voice hoarse. He walks inside and instantly picks you up, carrying you to the couch. He lays you down, then rushes into your kitchen, looking for a first aid kit.
"I was walking home," you say sleepily, "and someone . . . jumped me? I was wearing your Furin jacket and they thought maybe I was a student? I don't know. Once they realized they got a girl though they ran away."
"Where?" Sugishita asks, kneeling in front of you and working quick to bandage your hands and head. You shrug and your eyes start to droop but he shakes his head. "Hey. Stay awake. You might be concussed."
You watch him through lidded eyes as he works. When he's done, you grab his hand and lace your fingers. "I came straight home after it happened. I haven't seen a doctor. Can we go?"
He nods and you beam. "Thank you," you say as he moves you onto his back.
Tumblr media
UMEMIYA HAJIME ⋆˙⟡
You gotta keep walking, that's all you really know. Every single muscle in your body is screaming at you to just collapse on the floor and get life over with, but no. If you did that now, you'd be done for. You need a doctor. You need a hug.
Pothos can't be too far from here now. If you could just drag your feet another few blocks you'd get there for sure.
Your side from where you got kicked in hurts and your head is pounding, but finally, the sign comes into view. It's refreshing, and gives you the last little bit of energy you need to make it into the cafe.
"I'm sorry, we're closed- [name]?!" Kotoha cries as she looks over the bar counter. "What the hell?"
"Don't tell Hajime," you say as you collapse onto the tiles, the warmth of the cafe completely draining you of any leftover energy you have.
"Don't tell me what?" a voice calls out from around the corner.
"Shit, hide me!" you whisper shout to Kotoha. She's quick to try and shove you under a table, but not fast enough.
Umemiya shows up a second later, his face bright and cheery. He looks ready to hug you, but then he opens his eyes. His face immediately falls.
"Umemiya-" Kotoha starts, holding her arms up to try and calm him.
"Hajime-" You mirror Kotoha.
"What are you doing on the floor?" he asks, his voice hard as steel. His jaw is tense and you stiffen as he approaches. He helps you up and sets you on the cushioned seats in the booths. He turns to Kotoha and says, "Get the first aid kit."
She rushes off and he turns back to you. His blue eyes are icy as he says, "So what was this about not telling me?"
You sigh and lean forward, resting your head on his shoulder. "I didn't want you to worry."
"Not worry?" he asks incredulously. "You look like someone sent you through a meat grinder!"
You whimper and you feel his frame relax a little. He's trying to become softer for you to be more comfortable and you smile. He's sweet . . .
"Kotoha's back," he whispers, reaching up to pet your head. "Lemme bandage them at least."
"In a minute," you whispers.
Kotoha sets the kit on the table next to you and says, "I'll really quickly make you some food. Y'know, to help you get your strength back."
You nod, but then your body erupts in shivers as exhaustion settles in on you. Umemiya's breath catches as tears touch his neck.
You choke out, "Hajime . . . I was so scared."
He furrows his brow and kisses your temple, where a bruise is beginning to form. "It's okay, you're here now. I'm here now."

ENDO YAMATO ⋆˙⟡
"Hey," Endo growls as he stands at the entrance of the alleyway. "What the hell is this?
The four men who were looming over your body freeze as they hear his voice. You have an arm up over your face, but drop it when you hear Endo talking. You turn your head and see him with Chika too. Oh fuck, these guys are screwed.
"What's it to you?" One of the boys ask, trying to feign bravado. "We're just having a little fun with her."
Endo smirks, but it's void of any humor. He takes a few steps forward, quickly eating up whatever distance is between him and your attackers. Without a second thought, he smashes one of their faces into the wall.
"Hmm? What's it to me?" Endo asks, before tightening his grasp in the boy's hair and punching him. "Not much, right? Only- oh wait! That's my girlfriend."
The boy Endo had a grasp on crumples to the floor, and your boyfriend fixes his gaze on the remaining three. "Now," he says. "Let's have some fun right?"
They scatter like bugs, and Endo at first doesn't seem like he'll give chase. He turns to look down at you, and his smile turns from malicious to loving. He pats your head and says, "Wait here, okay? I'll be back in just a sec~"
You watch as he darts off after the trio. Chika walks up to you and you flinch back. The boy is silent as he picks up the knocked out form of your assailant and drags him out of the alleyway. Chika dumps him on the sidewalk before coming back to your side. He slides down the wall next to you and stares at you, assessing your injuries.
"It's not bad," he says. "Didn't get much 'fun' in before we got here."
"I'm sorry," you whisper, "if it's a bother."
"Endo's the only one bothered. That's why he's off running after them," Chika explains, before opening a bottle of peach juice. He takes a sip and then holds it out to you. "Want some?"
"No thank you."
He nods.
A few minutes later, Endo's back. He's panting slightly, but he has this glint in his eyes that only ever comes out after a fight. His nose is bleeding and his knuckles are scratched, but aside from that he looks completely fine.
"They can run, the little fucks," he says, wiping his nose.
"D-did they hit you?" you ask shakily.
"Nope," he grins, crouching in front of you. "I was running after them and slipped in some trash and crashed against the wall. But I'm fine, don't worry."
Endo looks over at Chika, then back at you. "You don't want Takiishi's juice?"
You shake your head and he chuckles. "Okay, let's get some food then."
He draps his jacket over your shoulders and pulls you into a hug. You close your eyes and sigh as Endo kisses your shoulder, before pulling the jacket on tighter.
"Come on," he whispers. "There's a good bar not too far from here. I'll carry you."

Okay, so I just wanna speak up on my own opinion of Harry Potter.
I was 13 when the first book came out, and I was already a voracious reader beforehand, which might have helped with my opinion. I did buy and read the first book (despite my father's half-hearted protest about the magic element, he was at least smart enough to realize that his daughter would Find A Way if he actually banned the book from her grubby hands), and....I didn't hate it.
Rowling actually had in me a fan up to the Goblet of Fire, at which point she had apparently decided she didn't need to try so hard and her real viewpoints started to leak through. Her protagonist became an absolute git and I began to despise Harry Potter as much as his actual enemies in the books did, though it seemed no one despised him more than the trollop writing him.
Still, though I got tired of certain elements rather quickly (Gryffindor being obviously favored over the other Houses, for example), I have read all the books, all but the last one in softcover and I can tell you honestly that from the Goblet of Fire on I was reading just to finish the story and keep up with friends who were also reading the books, because by then I had largely stopped caring.
Harry's pain became my pleasure unless Umbridge was the cause. I proudly declared myself a Slytherin because Gryffindor was a stained House full of pompous jackdaws like the Potters, and while I hardly thought Snape would have been the better choice, I firmly believed Lily was an idiot for thinking James was worth a blink.
Of course, this was all by design. Rowling made the Slytherins interesting because their views aligned with her own. They were written with far more depth and love because they were her truth. It's certainly been no hardship for me to walk away from all things Potter knowing that. It was part of my childhood, it certainly did leave an impression and her books will doubtless outlive her as have the literary works of other bigots. I can even understand the pain of giving up something you've developed your personality around, but people who love Harry Potter have a choice to make.
They can either denounce it utterly and totally, or they can continue as they're doing and be labeled an ally of a prominent TERF and antisemite. There is no middle ground to be had here. She certainly doesn't see a separation between her works and her. If you enjoy her work, you are supporting her, either directly through giving her money, or indirectly simply by supporting something you know is bigoted and even racist right through the core of it.
There is no toeing the line. There is no saying you are a Slytherin while denouncing the rest. This is black or white. She will not let you sit in the gray. You are either wholly against or wholly for. I'm sorry. Go read Magnus Chase or something instead. Any number of other magical school books. Make your own even like I'm trying to do. You don't need Harry Potter. You can do better than that.
I'm sorry, I don't believe that anyone who has read regularly since childhood would still count Harry Potter as the best book they've ever read.

THE ITCH- J. TODD
day twenty five of the june bug masterlist
pairing: boyfriend! jason x fem! reader
word count: 1k
summary: when you cant stop itching your bug bites, jason does the only thing left he can think of- tying you up.
warnings: this is all fluff but lots of sexual tension, innuendos and flirting, pet names etc
Tumblr media
“You can't scratch bunny or it's just gonna get worse.” Jason scolded you as he sat you down on the bathroom vanity, frown etched on his face.
You didn't care. You had to itch.
You were completely swollen, covered from head to toe in bug bites. They coated your arms and legs, even places you don't even know where possible for them to reach.
You glared at him as he went over to the bathtub, turning the handles as water began to flow. Itching your arms again, nails scratching the skin until blood drew.
You didn't even know how this was fucking possible. You had practically smothered yourself in bug spray, inhaling it for this exact reason- you knew how bad of a reaction you got from those thirsty bloodsuckers.
“I have to itch.”
“If you keep itching I’ll have to tie your hands together.”
You raised an eyebrow, a smirk forming on your lips at the thought. “Sounds kinky.”
He rolled his eyes, running a hand through his hair before adding the oatmeal bath treatment to the running water, an attempt to soothe your wounds.
It was torture, really- being forced to sit and not scratch.
Which is exactly how you ended up in that oatmeal bath with your hands tied together by soft rope.
“I’m gonna kill you.” you grumbled, staring blankly ahead at the wall in front of you as Jason chuckled behind you, dragging a washcloth across your back.
“Kinda hard to do that when you’re tied up, isn’t it?”
“I’m creative, I can find a way. Or multiple. Say Jay, has anyone tried to drown you before?”
He rolled his eyes, scrubbing a bar of soap across your skin, attempting to soothe your bites. You hated that it felt good.
“I’m doing this for you, silly.” he stated, as if he was scolding a five year old for restrictions on the cookie jar.
You huffed. “I can wash myself.”
“I know you can sweetheart. And you can be as mad at me as you want, but you’ll be thanking me later when you aren’t scarred .”
Well, he did have a point there. Still, you tried to flick him with water, though it became difficult with your hands literally tied. When he was satisfied with your soak, he helped you out of the bathtub and began to rub you dry with a soft towel from the linen closet.
It smelt like him.
You tried not to stare at him too much as he knelt down, drying your legs and thighs.
You could get used to this sight more often.
You were the only person Jason Todd had ever knelt too. And you wanted to keep it that way.
“Are you sure this can’t be sexual?” you asked coyly, biting your lip as he looked up, a little gleam in his eye as he lifted your leg up to rest on him, planting a gentle kiss to the skin.
“When you’re not tempted to itch, I’m sure something could be arranged where you’re all tied up for me.” he murmured, his words making your breathing hitch.
“What if I want to scratch you instead?”
His eyebrow raised. “Might be difficult to do so if your body is tied.”
You swallowed. “M-my body?”
He smirked. “I have some tricks up my sleeve.”
Holy fuck he was so hot.
You were so lost in thought you didn’t even realize he had grabbed hydrocortisone and had started applying it to the welts. “Cmon my little prisoner let’s get you to bed.” he cooed, slipping your hand into his, tugging you over to your bedroom.
“How long am I your prisoner?” you asked meekly, clenching your thighs together. He shrugged, back turned to you as he searched for a clean set of pj shorts for you to wear. It appeared tonight there would be no top for you. Which was honestly a blessing in disguise, because of how hot and sticky it was.
“However long I want you to be.”
“So forever?” you asked, lifting your legs one at a time, leaning against him for balance as he slid the fabrics up your legs.
“Something along those lines.” he laughed.
“Ya know, if you’re my prisoner that means I can make you do whatever I want to do.”
You pursed your lips together. “Is that so?”
“That is so.”
“And then what would you have me do?”
The tickle of his breath had you jump as he slipped behind you, tucking your hair onto one shoulder- leaning down to whisper into the other.
“Oh I can think of a lot of things sweetheart. But that’s for another time. For now, you’re going to sleep.”
You grumbled incoherently, letting him guide you over to your bed, the cool, plush sheets feeling nice against your itching skin. “Do I have to sleep like this?” you whined, curling into his chest like a cat as you stretched, feeling the rope began to loosen.
He hadn't tugged it too tightly, an indicator that you could break free at any point. Still, you kept your hands loosely tied as you let him codle you, pulling you in closer as he teased you, planting a kiss on the top of your head as you started to doze off.
He murmured something like a sweet dreams prisoner as he stroked your arm, gently soothing the itch- letting you drift off to sleep.

https://www.tumblr.com/hearts4hughes/786738253259816960/exbf-rafe-is-breaking-me-especially-reader
I hear what this anon is saying
But
I like ex!Rafe 🤷
Ex!Rafe finding out reader’s out with a guy who Rafe sees as a danger to her. Like idk the guy drives his bike without a helmet and Rafe catches reader and this guy going really fast and neither are wearing helmets. So Rafe, rightfully so, loses his shit at how reckless this man is being with reader
Tumblr media
he shouldn’t be checking. it’s pathetic—he knows that. it’s the kind of behavior he’d mock if it belonged to anyone else. but rafe’s thumb moves anyway, thoughtless, practiced. tap, scroll, tap. your profile loads like muscle memory, like something god designed to live under his gaze.
you haven’t blocked him. though, you unfollowed him, obviously. but your account’s still public, and tonight you posted. his heart starts racing faster. he prays it’s a photo of you smiling. maybe candid. something to remind him what you look like happy. instead, it’s a video. some shaky clip from someone else’s story, reshared to yours. it’s short, grainy, barely visible. it’s loud with motion…wind…and you—
on the back of a motorcycle.
your bare arms are wrapped around someone else. someone taller, broader, clad in a leather jacket. he’s helmetless. that’s when rafe realizes that you are too. the speed at which the motorcycle moves, it’s not freedom, it’s a death wish. the kind of recklessness rafe is all too familiar with.
the video clicks off and he watches it again, and again. luckily you forgot to turn your location off. his jaw tightens. breath caught like smoke in his chest. he doesn’t think, just grabs his keys and slides into the porsche like it’s an exhale.
~
you don’t see the headlights at first. you’re smiling too hard, windblown, and dizzy from the ride. everything smells like late june and gasoline, and there’s a part of you that liked pretending you weren’t the kind of girl who used to fall asleep to rafe’s quarterly earnings calls and wake up to his cologne on your sheets.
then he’s there. almost like he never left. he’s pulling up fast, aggressive—like always. his windows are down, engine of the car you used to love purring with a threat. your stomach drops.
“you’ve gotta be fucking kidding me,” rafe says, stepping out of the car like a storm in black sweatpants—gray hoodie, hair wild, eyes darker than you remember. darker than they have any right to be.
the guy on the bike blinks. he looks between the two of you and laughs. “can we help you, bro?”
rafe doesn’t even look at him. his gaze’s locked on you like he’s trying to burn a hole clean through your chest. “get off the bike.”
your heart jumps and your cheeks fill with color. “rafe-“
“now.”
the guy scoffs. “you her dad or something?”
“no,” rafe says flatly. “but i know what her skull looks like on a CT scan. do you?”
the silence that follows his deafening. the guy clears his throat and scratches the back of his neck. you swing your leg off the bike slowly, grounding your heels like it might keep the earth from shaking. “it was just a ride.”
rafe laughs. it’s not a nice sound. “yeah? just a ride on the back of a stranger’s death machine with zero protection while he weaves through traffic like he’s trying to impress you?”
“he’s not a stranger-” you begin. your knees start to buckle, lip quivers.
“you don’t know him,” he snaps. “you don’t know what he drinks, if he takes pills, if he texts while driving,” he inhales deeply. “you don’t know who’s holding your fucking life in their hands and you’re smiling like it’s a goddamn music video.”
you flinch. the guy shifts behind you, arms folding. “hey, man, maybe take it down a-”
rafe rounds on him. “shut the fuck up,” his tone leaves no room for debate. “don’t talk to me. don’t talk to her. don’t look at her.”
you don’t speak. not yet. your teeth dig into the inside of your cheek, adrenaline sharpening everything, the taste of regret already forming behind your tongue.
rafe turns back to you, jaw tight, hands clenched at his sides like he’s resisting the urge to shake sense into you. “what were you thinking?” his voice breaks. not loud, but raw. “you think this proves something? that you’re free? you’re not. you’re just-” he swallows and looks away for half a second. “you’re just lucky i saw it before the morgue did.”
you hate how your throat tightens. how the shame tastes so familiar. how his worry still lives on you like perfume that won’t wash off. “i didn’t mean to scare you.”
“you didn’t scare me,” he lies. then, softer he murmurs, “you gutted me.”
you look down. gravel crunches under your shoes as you shift your weight. “i don’t belong to you anymore, rafe.”
“you never stopped,” he says, almost too quiet. then he opens his passenger door before you can argue. he doesn’t say anything, but the disappointment in his eyes bores through you like a laser. you start to walk forward and the guy behind you scoffs before taking off. tears well in your eyes as you slip onto his leather seat.
the door clicks open as he gets in the driver’s seat. he turns his head, gaze softening now that you’re with him—safe. “if i catch you pulling shit like that again,” he pauses to regain his composure. “i’ll bury whatever asshole you’re with.”
