I have a question, what do Earth and Titan think of each other?

Earth: I once gave him a rose and he seemed enamoured by it! It was kinda cute. He said he'd love to have kept it at home when he finally learned how to grow one someday... I hope he does. Titan: Seeing that rose for the first time was an experience... it made me want to work harder at being able to sustain life like his! I hope someday I'll be able to achieve that. Earth is so cool!

He was amazed by that rose so much, that he tried to replicate it from memory with his atmosphere.

Titan is actually a fanboy for Earth! He's always looked up to Earth as a role model. Because of this, sometimes Saturn does invite Earth over for a cup of tea so that they can have a chat. Titan is pretty shy though, compared to the outgoing Earth and Saturn!

It was said there was an ice volcano nicknamed "The Rose" on Titan's surface, now better known as Sotra Patera.

Haven't seen folks talking about this over here, but I'm in love with the detail, so I'm gonna talk about the mythology used in the new Ever Crisis event.

For those confused that Vincent's right arm is weird in his new Odin-bestowed gear, it's because it's based on Týr! Implied occasionally to be one of Odin's sons, Týr placed his right hand into Fenrir's mouth, eventually allowing him to bite it off entirely, so the other gods could bind him—hence the chains.

Fenrir usually represents Cloud in the series, which one could assume doesn't mean anything—except that Sephiroth's Odin-bestowed gear is based on Jörmungandr, the world serpent, who is one of Loki's monster children just like Fenrir.

Taking this into account, Odin appears to have cast Jenova as either Loki or Angrboða—but I'm assuming Loki, for reasons I'll explain in a minute.

So Vincent is cast as one of Odin's sons, one who threw himself into the literal jaws of the beast in order to keep the world safe, and was permanently changed as a result. Týr is also destined to be consumed by Garmr, the hound who guards the gates of Hel, at the end of the world—it should surprise no one to know that generally, Garmr is accepted as the Norse mythological analog of the Greek Cerberus.

Týr's fate comes to call all when Jörmungandr stops biting his own tail and rises up from the sea that covers the world, which will in turn free Loki from his bonds. Sort of like Vincent throwing himself into the fray when Sephiroth rises up from the Lifestream and allows Jenova to wreak havoc against the planet.

The reason I think Loki is the role being given to Jenova is because of Angeal's gear. We haven't gotten a good look at it yet, but the fur ruff leads me to assume he's being cast as one of the handful of canids in Norse mythology: either one half of the pair that is Hati and Sköll, or (more likely) Váli.

Hati or Sköll are probable enough because they're wolves, specifically Loki's grandchildren, making them one generation removed from the source, and they're a set of two—like how Angeal and Genesis are one step removed from Jenova via Gillian, and are a set of two. They chase the moon and the sun, and will consume both at the end of the world. I don't think this is quite right, though, because they're Fenrir's children, and Fenrir is very clearly associated with Cloud elsewhere in the series.

Váli, however, is one of Loki's children who wasn't born a monster. He's mentioned once, is occasionally confused with one of Odin's children, and was turned into a monster wolf before being driven to kill his brother—who also was not born a monster, and whose remains were used to bind their father. This is strikingly analogous to Angeal being brought up as a normal person, discovering that he's actually a monster, and being driven by his own honor to (attempt to) kill Genesis in order to end his Jenova-fueled war against Shinra. This would even explain the horns on Angeal's gear, because Váli is often mistaken for one of Odin's sons of the same name, and Odin also has gold horns.

TLDR: Odin has cast Vincent as his most doomed son (one permanently bound to at least one of Loki's monster children), Sephiroth as one of his weird monster nephews (the one whose return heralds the end of the world), and (hopefully, I'll be disappointed otherwise) Angeal as a different, less weird nephew who almost nobody remembers and turned into a monster at the end of his life for the express purpose of killing someone he loved.

Oh, and Tifa is...some kind of sexily underdressed gijinka version of one of the cats that pull Odin's heavenly counterpart's carriage. For some reason.

Still not sure about the thought process behind that one.

Bio: Determined and perfectionistic, Lobby is always giving it their all in challenges. Moreover, they're prone to bottling their emotions. Don't let that disencourage you, though: Lobby is highly empathetic, as he cares deeply for his friends' wellbeing. They're also good at giving out advice to others.  Originally hailing from unknown lands (the bottom of the sea), he resides in Yoyle City, where he moved in hopes of getting away from their once stressful life. They find the BFDIA contestants in BFDIA 6 -- more specifically, he encounters Team No-Name at the abandoned hotel. Since they haven't seen another being in so long, they decide to tag along with the rest of the cast, though he doesn't partake in the competiton. Later on, they compete in BFB as a part of Beep, then moves to TPOT, where he is in Just Not and then Bagged. Throughout the course of later seasons, Lobby is getting better at expressing himself and voicing their thoughts. He and Nickel are in a queerplatonic relationship! Their best friends are Book and Gelatin, he has a rivalry with Fries, and uh... his relationship with Tennis Ball... is complicated, to say the least (complicated as in. They used to be besties. We all know what TB does to Nickel. And Lobby definitely doesn't like that.)

COOKIE:

If you aren't born with immortality, then there are ways to take it from those who were. However, you must make sure that you don't mess up when doing so. If you do, then you better PRAY that the other party is merciful to you… whoever Cookie messed with wasn't so merciful.

Cookie has been around for at least a century. Years ago, he was cursed to age rapidly, with the only thing that can temporarily reverse his aging being the blood of other pokemon. When Peppy found him he was only a week old, take that information with what you will.

Cookie's name came from the fact that he loved to bake before he was cursed. Now he's far to busy to pick it up as a hobby again.

Luke was the one that gave Cookie his IPad as a gift, much to the dismay of Sara. He likes to watch anything he can find on there along with Puppie (though they stuff they watch is moderated of course). Cookie has never once let go of that IPad.

Cookie is very quick to learn things, but his attention span can be a little short at times. No shame in that!

Cookie has only ever had two fears: death and fires.

DA CHEFF:

Da Cheff has his very own restaurant! However it is impossible to to go there without flying... huh.

Da Cheff can speak in multiple languages, this is good for customers who don't primarily speak english.

The horns on his head can switch between horns and wings, it depends on the day.

Most of his cooking materials was made by Da Cheff himself! Of course, only the best chef needs the best cooking utensils, and only Da Cheff knows how the best utensils should be made. He won't take anything less.

Has horrible eyesight, he needs to keep his glasses on at all times, otherwise he won't be able to see at all.

Very VERY harsh when it comes to critiquing others' cooking. So harsh to the point that everyone agrees that it's best to just let Da Cheff cook for everyone rather than vice versa. Thankfully Da Cheff is more than happy to cook for his friends!

PUPPIE:

Puppie isn't computer-savy, to say the least, however she is really good when it comes to modern phones. She even has one herself!

Wears her raincoat at all times because she doesn't like getting rainwater all over her.

It is unknown why Puppie was alone when the others found her, especially when she comes from a HUGE family of bellibolts, but she doesn't seem to be too upset over that. Or rather she just doesn't dwell too much on it. Who knows?

Her ears and tail are little lights that can float around. She likes placing her ears over her raincoat hood because "she looks like a frog!"

A fan of TONS of different celebrities, from Ariana Grande to Hatsune Miku. Ask her about any of them and you WILL be forced to listen to her ramble on about said celebrity.

Her favorite move, Zap Cannon, is exactly what it says on the tin. Yup, Puppie owns a cannon (well, its more of a rocket launcher than a cannon... but whatever) and knows how to use it. Thanks Pastey.

So, Taco presumably runs out of lemons in episode 14, yeah? But in the finale, multiple lemons come out of her. My thought is that her poor tongue was starting to hurt. If you eat too many lemons/consume to much lemon juice, it hurts your tongue a whole lot (I have experienced this, it sucks)! I like to think she'd just done a bit too much lemon-spitting and needed to give it a bit of a rest so her tongue could heal and be in good shape for the finale (she does use it to grab onto OJ, after all).

I like to think Taco still hung around in the woods a lot even before she'd revealed her actual personality. I can't imagine it being too hard for her to wander off, and the solitude and cover of the forest would mean it's a great place for her to take a break from acting silly and stupid. I think she could keep up an act indefinitely if she wanted to, but since s1 Taco is so high-energy all the time it might be nice for her to have a break.

I also tend to think that, for a lot of s1, Taco was on a sugar-high. Not for the purposes of making herself more hyper like I just mentioned, but because she's more or less on Pickle's diet the entire time. He'd want to get food for his best buddy Taco, and she can't be picky since that would be out of character for someone who regularly eats metal, lemons, and rope. I usually think that, even before he was depressed, Pickle lived on, for the lack of a better term, a hardcore gamer diet. Most snacks and sugary sodas, so that ends up being what Taco eats as well, though it's the opposite of what she'd prefer. In gijinka terms, it might contribute a bit to the baby cheeks she has in s1 and that are gone by the time she shows up again for season 2. She'd probably avoid soda for, like, the rest of her existence after that, she's had more than enough thank you very much, she'll have a nice cup of tea instead.

I like to think that Taco had always seen through what Balloon was trying to do. His own act in season 1. I think of her as almost always, if not always, being able to tell when someone else is lying in addition to her own deception skills, yeah? So while he's stumbling around calling OJ and Bomb stupid and useless while he's trying to get them on his side, she is internally both laughing at his clumsy attempt and face-palming at how bad he is at it.

I think it would be funny if one time, Pickle asked her to throw something into the trash can, and she genuinely had no idea what he was talking about. She'd never admit that it wasn't part of her act, but she did not know what a 'trash can' was. It's a rubbish bin to her! Mephone specifically programmed her British, so I like to think she has to learn the american english terms that the rest of the contestants use through context and prayers.

That being said, gotten back into an oldie of mine I'd never thought I'd revisit: Object Shows!

More specifically: Inanimate insanity

Look I was into this when I was like a preteen and grew out of it then all of a sudden II s2 ep18 dropped. Like hell, I didn't even know that invitational existed (and lowkey still haven't seen it- BUT I KNOW THE LORE, BOT IS MY WEE BABY OK I KNOW THE LORE)

And drawing these gijinkas kinda gave me more flexibility and let me design people again even though I'll admit quite a few ideas are very common in gijinka's used in the fandom

So um I'll see how this goes, I already have the sketches for the other season's cast and will probably post them regardless though.

Let's start with S1's king, the fruitiest lad on the aisle: OJ!

(Btw I think it's HOP rather than HOJP)

I know he's meant to be like a glass of OJ, so theoretically his hair should be more slick/smooth but I decided to go for the flowy juice angle! Something to make his hair look more like flowing liquid.

Orange slice earings! In fact, orange slice accessories everywhere! (it's so marketable srsly don't know why it ain't used more often)

The orange watch was a fun concept ^u^ specially since after getting the hotel, I'd imagine him being a lot more uptight with sh!t and use clocks/watches to keep track of things

TBH, he'd probably also have a pair of rectangular long glass dangly earings to swap out for like the formal events.

Yay! For slacks! Thought they'd look really cute on him and other than Suitcase, wanted to give him something unique rather than just a suit/suitjacket (eg the hosts, Taco)

But oh, look at that he comes with two outfits! Just like a doll...

After two years in the Sonic fandom (for the third time)

Actually, nothing in the past made me leave the sonic fandom, I gust got caught in other fandoms (the first time after Sonic I started to follow Sailor Moon, the second time it was WWE wrestling.

I guess right now this is my most serious time in Sonic fandom :D.

I learned a bit about fans and Sega itself. The worst disservice you do to yourself is being a purist. SoJ purist, SoA purist, Adventure Purist etc...

Yes, I may sound sometimes like a SA2 purist seeing the reaction of those that try to interact with me, I admit that, is my favourite period. But I like to explore and just choose what I like and ignore what I dislike. No close mind otherwise I might miss something that might be not so bad, especially I would not have fun.

(Sonic Boom is pretty stupid but I had a lot of fun by watching it, I found myself laughing).

It may be overall awkward, but I love the facial expressions. And the models look so smooth.

The issue with being a purist is that, I said it previously in other posts, you will end to not appreciate Sonic anymore. Not even what comes from your side. I saw on youtube how it ends. Fukurou Hoseki, Pariah695, they left the fandom because the Sonic they loved was since long gone, or perhaps he was never there. Anyway Sonic was becoming more and more a source of pain for them. I never followed Pariah695 properly but I used to follow Fukorou Hoseki and I was quite there when she left.

Now I hope it not will end the same with two artist that I like and that happen to be purists. One of them unfortunately is leaning on this direction, he complained more about the new Sonic stuffs and his latest works are rather uninspired. Is unfortunate because I love his works, they're so lovely (he is even a fan VA and his voice is great for Sonic).

Conspiracy theories.

A consipacy theory that run among purists see the evil SoA on one side that never respects what SoJ does.

If that was true, why then SoJ and SoA keep working togheter? It was SEGA who hired, as Sonic writer, Penters, Pontac, Graff and ultimately Flynn. And it was SoJ who followed the English VA, who told David Humphrey who Shadow was and how he was supposed to talk and Ryan Drummond's 'Teriaaaaa!' line (The line was also in Japanese).

The mandates were loosened (luckily) exactly because fans hated them.

Sonic is a SEGA mascot/character, is not a single person's character and it changes accordingly to what the majority of fandom likes/except and accordingly to the 'hystorical' period. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. SEGA, or at least Sonic Team tends to listen to fans more than other companies.

The voice of fans.

In the 2000's, fans called Shadow an emo. Official material often describled him as 'clever' 'silent' and 'distressed' but he was, overall a flexible character to work with. Fanarts and meme of Shadow doing self harm or saying openly he wished to die weren't so rare.

Shadow truly ended up to having suicidal though/ideation (although he was pretty much suicidal even before) and to do invisible self harm (having him doing physical self harm would be too much). Original Shadow had his moments, but he looked at life with a hint of hope.

Popularity.

The reason Sonic is not so popular in Japan is because of the design of the character. in Japan, cute/plushy characters are more popular. And also, in Japan human characters are more popular than humanized beasts. In the west and other places the thing is more balanced. I guess the Gijinka trend is a bit linked to this (Not all people that draw gijinkas are Japanese but they seems to have a more Japanese/like tastes. for myself I can say I always disliked the cartoon four fingers hand and prefer the 5 fingers hand even in cartoon characters, but I'm not a fan of gijinkas.

This is what Japaneses mean with 'Furry' or 'Anthro'.

Sonic borrows a lot from early Disney. Well, at least they have 5 fingers in their hand. The blobby fingerless feet come from Mickey Mouse (and I hate them, honestly).

Many purists think Sonic is hated in Japan. That's not true. Is just it doesn't meet average Japanese tastes but the fans are there too. And the fandom is active.

(This was in 2005 and so, but surely the artist is Japanese and did some nice arts. You can find more recent art by Japanese artists on Pinterest)

Chili dogs appeared first in Sonic SatAM (Italy/USA)

Maekawa brought them in Japan because he though it was a nice touch.

My issues with lines comparision

One thing I noticed from fans that compare the lines is that they take a single Japanese line and share. I see a lot of focus on the line alone and not on what is around or where it comes from.

They might be worded differently, but, at least to me, the overall message doesn't change. Perhaps I'm looking at the big picture. I always did when I watched anime, both in Italian and in Japanese.

My question is the likes of: 'What Shadow is trying to say? What he does means?' and not 'How does he say this?'.

Might be my cultural background. It matters.

Southern/Western Europe, (France, Italy, Spain ect...) Asia, Africa and latin America have a higher context culture. North and central Europe (example Switzerland, England, Scandinavia), North America are lower context to they might be more sensitive to changes.

If Ian Flynn is so verbose while Shiro Maekawa is way more subtle, is exactly because of their cultural background. Higher context culture put words in relation to space, what is happening and what happened before. Lover context culture focus especially on words on their own. Don't you think in the first picture you virtually only need what's written in the balloons while in the second picture you start to look more or at least ask for the rest to find clues about what's going on?

Pretty much i'm enjoying Sonic. I don't enjoy everything of course,there are things I like and things (such as the IDW comics) that I dislike. I would also suggest to look at what the fandom does, there are nice stuffs.

I honestly do not worry much about canon/non canon since is something that keeps changing.

General Hcs

They all learned their lesson to not betray Bowser again since they realized even if he knew they completely betrayed him, he still gave them a second chance, and no one else would ever give them that type of mercy. They all loyal fr fr now...and it's mostly because they can't run away from being Jr’s sparring partners for life either. He always tracks them down somehow.

Moving on to the Captains, I wanted to share my names of the them in my AU (because I'm just gonna refer to them with these names for the rest of the post)

The captains are all close enough that they use their real names outside of a professional setting (though Goomba is the only one who always refers to them by their captain names).

Anyways moving on to individual hcs...

Captain Quartet

Real Name: ??? Age: 30 Height: 5'0 Personality: -A very headstrong and determined individual. He has a simplistic outlook on life and does things very straightforwardly once he’s focused on it.  -While he may kinda be an idiot, he’s much more sensible than others would think and he knows when to pull back whenever he knows something is getting out of hand. Facts: -He and Aka have a rivalry going on ‘cause of the captain title. Goomba doesn't like him one bit. -Is red-green colorblind and got Brian and Sergeant Guy mixed up quite a bit which got him harshly scolded by the both of them that they don't look the same at all. Luckily, he's made sure not to make the mistake again since then, but it's still 50/50 if he sees them from behind (not that Goomba would ever admit this).  -His fellow captains realize that they don’t actually know his real name and try to subtly find ways to figure it out to no avail. The one who got the closest was Corey.

Captain Shyguy

Real Name: Brian Age: 31 Height: 5'5 Personality: -A calm and collected individual but is also very sarcastic. -Very blunt and straightforward with his words. He doesn’t care even if it’s someone of higher rank, he will say it if he has to.  -Doesn’t like showing his emotions and can’t act affectionately to save his life, but he has so much love in him.  -He's actually pretty unhinged once you get to know him. Facts: -Can throw a turnip at you with pinpoint accuracy. -Even with his boldness, he's lowkey kind of glad the mind control made Ludwig not remember he threw a turnip at his face. Though Ludwig wonders why a slight irritation in him always appears when he's talking to Brian. -Speaks monotonously and no one can really tell his emotions since he always has his mask on. -Was literally so smitten for Capt. Goomba since the start, but literally cannot show that vulnerability to save his life. Maybe he'll decide to make that exception for him…after when the yearning doesn't work out and it starts to drive him completely insane.

Captain Boo

As years have passed, he has become more confident and can kind of look at people most of the time now as long as they don't actually hold the gaze for longer than 2 seconds. Woohoo! -Can get upset quite easily and becomes very pouty and overdramatic about it. -Acts as the voice of reason amongst the rowdy and reckless youngins of the Captain Squad. It makes him feel old (which he is). Facts: -Used to work for King Boo as his head butler back in his youth. Things didn't end too well between them and was aimless for a while until he decided to join Bowser's army to start a new life (They might or might not be bitter exes too, the other captains never quite found out...yet). -Knows how to get rid of a body apparently.  [Mr. Boosley]: “I served as a head butler for countless years and if I didn’t know how to get rid of a body then what kind of butler am I?” [The rest of the captains]: “A normal one?” [Mr. Boosley]: “A disgraceful one. That’s what.” -Seeing his teammates being "rivals" to the Elite Trio, he's kinda jealous he doesn't have a one. -Boosley wouldn't say this to him out loud, but is quite fond of Corey's jokes/rhymes. He just hopes Corey gets out of his phase of trying to be the funniest person in the room soon.

Captain Koopa

Real Name: Corey Age: 27 Height: 5'8 Personality: -Quite the oddball of a guy, but he’s very friendly to those around him. -He's kinda needy and wants a lot of attention so he tries to be funny all the time. -A pretty mellow person. He usually likes to avoid fighting and solve things with talking. Facts: -Keeps trying to find his schtick but his jokes/rhymes are very lukewarm. He hasn’t found quite the right calling as of yet. -(Not really a hc here I just wanted to draw him in his janitor fit before he became a captain).

-He tries to get the most attention out of Boosley since Goomba and Brian are already their own pair. Unfortunately for Boosley, that makes him the test subject to hear all of Corey’s first-time jokes and rhymes.

-Actually gets along with Corporal Paraplonk pretty well. He thinks his bucket head is pretty stupid though.  -[Paraplonk]: THAT'S WHAT CROSSES THE LINE?!

Elite Trio

Private Goomp

Age: 30 Height: 4'11 Personality: -Very ambitious and always chasing glory for himself. -Pretty simple-minded, like dumber than Captain Goomba. -He's surprisingly more cunning than one would think if he's locked in. Facts: -Likes to think he's the leader of the Elite Trio but the other two don't like listening to him. It just so happens they tend to want to do the same thing and he's the one who speaks the loudest. -Captain Goomba was the first guy in the Koopa Troop he told his plans of rising to the top to. Goomp acts like he hates his ass but Goomba knows that they're both in it for life. In the end, Goomp does see him as a true companion.

Corporal Paraplonk

Age: 32 Height: 5'10 Personality: -A guy who climbs up the social ladder by acting pleasant and kissing up to those who will benefit him. -He seems more mellow as compared to the other two Elite Trio members but actually tends to get annoyed easily. He just bottles up his hate. -He's much meaner normally, as the Elite Trio and the Captains can attest. Facts: -Goomp was the first guy who clocked his true personality. It kinda hurt actually. Sergeant guy was the second. Right at their first meeting no less. -You'd probably have to torture this out of him, but genuinely is grateful to be friends with Goomp and Sergeant since they're equally shitty as he is and probably the first people he's kept it real with. -Used to hate Corey's jokes, but surprisingly, they're starting to rub off on him.

Sergeant Guy

Age: 34 Height: 5'7 Personality: -Very shrewd and sleazy. The last guy you want to trust, he's his own top priority.  -The type of mf to say “okey dokey!” and then beat you up. -Surprisingly, kind of thoughtful to others. Emphasis on kind of. Facts: -Used to be in a gang while growing up. Also got his lip scar before he joined the army. Of course, no one ever really knows that since he keeps his face covered all the time. -Has gray streaks in his hair and it makes people think he's older than he really is. -His eyes glow when he uses magic. Because I said so. -Is Paraplonk's smoking buddy/guy who he complains to when people from the job (usually Bowser or Jr) get on his nerves. Doesn't necessarily like listening to him complaining all the time but wouldn't say no to a free cigarette.

my thing about izaya is that he's so strange and weird and i love that so much. i didn't want to ramble too much in the notes of that poor person's post but i find the way he speaks and the words he chooses so interesting so let me ramble a little bit. this may or may not even be coherent so bear with me here im just going to speak my thoughts.

ok this got really fucking long and all over the 0place so im putting this under a read more sorry.

so i have volume 9 of the novel in both english and japanese. i only have two novels in japanese and that is this one and yuuyake wo. so i'm pretty crazy about this izaya speech analysis shit. anyways i was rereading thru the jp ver the other day just to compare it to the eng and i kinda realized that like.

a lot of people you can separate their speech in either formal and informal speech right? someone like shizuo speaks really informally and uses a lot of rough, dragged-out versions of words and stuff (しゃーねえ vs しょうがない) and then someone like shinra who speaks in a ton of yojijukugo and generally sounds like a nerd emoji gijinka.

izaya on the other hand rly... doesn't fit in either? i mean sure he sounds like another nerd emoji gijinka but it's kinda different. it's not so much the words he speaks but rather the intonation and his tone...

and he has his moments where he speaks pretty seriously and whatnot of course, but in general he just... doesn't sound very human when he speaks? i don't know if that's a conscious effort or not. is it his attempts at distancing himself from his own individual humanity? or is it just because he's a weird guy? i dunno. but it's interesting nonetheless.

one thing i will note though is that despite his somewhat inhuman speech patterns, it's also pretty...dramatic? to the extent where it's really exaggerated but also very cute and charming. (this part is important.)

i think a lot of what makes izaya's speech so weirdly inhuman is because he doesn't really use a lot of slang or similar lingo that people his age would typically use. i know mikado said in the novels that he doesn't really try to fit in with his age group's fashion sense either so it makes sense but still. he's like an old hag it's so funny. and it's because of that that when he says stuff like 'i don't get all hot and heavy over headless women' or whatever he said to celty it's really amusing to me because like... why is the strange man saying this?💀

another example i kinda giggled about on my twitter when i read it it's not even crazy and i sound corny and cheesy and stupid but theres this scene in vol 9 where izaya messages celty for business and hold on let me just put it as a quote.

he sounds so old saying 'video game' like 😭 idk it's just funny cause he barely even knows anything abt games like bro knows nothing im crying

in the jp hes like 「…ゲーム中なのかい？」 and then when celty tries to explain herself he says 「何を言ってるのか、良く解らないんだけど」 and im rly bad at tling parts of sentences and stuff but just know that the way he words it makes it sound like this gif to me

i love both versions i think the original jp makes him sound like hes so lost and confused (hence why pw gif cause lord that man always looks lost LMFAOOOO) and then eng tl just blunt ass "I don't know what you're talking about." makes him sound like full on hag 😭😭😭

first i think it's funny the translation has izaya say fuck here cause he very rarely swears and i did read this one thing about how he only swears when his mask slips so to me this is like genuine bewilderment that he cant even hide LOL. second why is he so excited to hear about 'whatever sexual fetish' shinra has im crying he's so damn nosy . okay but this is not the funniest part let me add that now.

1. shinra is funny as fuck in this scene but also izaya's "Hmm. Can I punch you?" made me havbe a good laugh. in the jp he says 「んー。殴ってもいいのかな？」 which is pretty much the same thing just with the intonation of like 'hmmmmmmmmm should i hit u or not...' sorry like i said im just bad w explaining this stuff. but i felt the need to point it out not cause im one of those annoying ppl who praise the original jp ver and reject translations and localizations i just think it's important for izaya specifically cause i love him and i want to analyze his speech patterns as best as i can.

i was going thru the novel just now for other stuff i wanted to mention and i forgot abt this part but it's so funny.

Type calmly, please.' its not even funny or nothing i just find it so amusinf whenever he talks like that💀 i will say though the english translation kind of makes him sound more weird and inhuman than the original. that line in the original was basically just him telling her she needs to calm down enough to at least type properly LOL. idk if im just being nitpicky cause this is izaya tho so feel free to ignore that. fwiw i like the eng tl bc while it's a different intonation than the original japanese ver i think if he did speak english it would probably sound smth like that anyways.

this too made me laugh like ??? seriously he is really nosy when it comes to people's intimate affairs. in the jp ver he calls them an 'intimate couple' which just is like .. ok bro💀

does anyone else see my vision of izaya getting cucked by celty (does it count as cucking when celtys the one dating shinra) while he looks sad and pathetic and miserable that he never decided to shoot his shot w shinra back in the day

if i were commenting on the actual stuff going on in this scene rn this post would be a lot olonger and even more terribly all over the place so im just gonna focus on how i think it's funny izaya says 'easy, man...' this is like one of the only times his words are somewhat natural and sound like smth you would hear someone else say. in the jp ver it's 「おいおい…」 which is somewhat less out of left field in terms of coming from izaya but still it's pretty surprisingly normal. i have to wonder if in that moment he's too worried about shinra to care about keeping up appearances.

this is just random and me making fun of izaya as usual but why the hell does he weigh himself after his showers💀💀💀 it's cute and endearing and only adds to his strong gap moe but still... it's strange...

speaking of cute things this is from a volume i forget but he says this one phrase a couple of times and it is just both really cute and also kind of idk... saddening. one of the times i can remember he says it is when namie was making fun of him or something and he replies 'Don't tease me. I'm only human.' or something along those lines and it's like . hm. ok.

i think it's cute he says 'dont tease me' a few times cause eughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh (trying to ward off severe brain damaged incoherent thoughts) but 'im only human' is like... are you really? even after you try so hard to escape your own humanity and individual self so much... im going to try and give my thoughts on it here but this is just based off my hc that izaya has bpd so yanno. im basing a lot oif this on my own experiences sorry. i do that a lot. (gestures over to all the posts i make abt fob/mychem fan izaya)

when it comes to just straight up acknowledging his humanity izaya has no problems with this because 'sure, i'm human. isn't that obvious?' is probably something along the lines of what he thinks. it's easy for him to just say that because it's just that. it's just words. it holds no real meaning and shows no true insight into how he actually perceives himself. but when it comes to actually having to come face to face with his own humanity and the fact that yes, he is only human, it's a lot more difficult because now it's out of his control. i wonder also if he has problems with perceiving his own self.

i say this a lot but i truly do believe izaya is so so so beautiful and i love him so much. also i just saw a funny post on twitter so i wanna say this here idk if yall know this but izayas actually a latina hes got chismosavirus❤ ok thats all i have to say sorry for rambling so much
