carter wasn't good at communicating but he was good at showing someone how he felt and he was trying to do that with her. "c'mon, baby," he started, his nose nudging her jaw from behind, "didn't you miss me?"

“-i don’t know why you won’t just stay the night.” carter had managed to get himself in a relationship but the thing about it was, no matter how long the two of them seemed to be seeing each other, the other never seemed to want to open up. “just tell me. do you have someone waiting for you at home? am i just a fling? what is it?” he was afraid the truth would ultimately break his heart but he hoped that it was something less serious. nerves, maybe? that could be it, right? reaching for the other’s hand, “i just want one night...”

carter always missed her. she was what he looked forward to at the end of each day. he pressed his face into her neck, enjoying her sent. that was until she admitted she'd ordered food without getting him any and then he pulled away with a playful gasp. "how could you? i can't believe you didn't get me anything. i'm heart broken." though, the fact that she'd missed him made up for the 'betrayal'. he sighed, "i know, babygirl. i didn't want to leave you this mornin' but i had to go to work. we can always make up for lost time though."

After hearing that he missed her too Jolene felt herself relax a little more into him. "As you should," she teased finally turning her head to kiss his cheek. At the question of what she did while he was gone she knew she couldn't lie to him. "Honestly nothing fun. Took on a couple more cases to fill my time while you were gone. I did though order some food for myself and it felt so good not to share." She laughed before turning to face him with a pout on her lips. "But the bed was far too empty while you were gone, going to bed and waking up were not my favorite."

carter had a lot on his mind, especially once he found out that what he had with her wasn't real. he been holding it in, keeping it to himself until he couldn't do it anymore. "alright, just stop," he started, his eyes finally shifting to look at her, "i found out about your little plan. you made him jealous. so, why the hell are you still keepin' me around?"

he noddded slowly, "yeah, i...have to admit. i really didn't expect you to show up but i'm glad you did." his hand shifted to lay on top of hers as she sat across from him. he was bad at all of this but he was going what he could to make things right. well, everything except apologizing. "anyways, i thought it was time the two of us went out on a date anyways. it's been a while."

esme was pretty close to just ignoring carter's texts and simply ditching on the date. the two going around in circles was enough for esme to want to run away from it all, but she knew that wouldn't help anything. she greeted him, having a hard time making eye contact before sitting down. "you're lucky i made it, because i was this close to not giving you the time of the day." / @blindspct

carter had no idea how he'd managed to get so lucky to have a girl like her in his life and even so, he did what he could to keep her happy. that included treating her out to a night light this after he started a ridiculous fight right before the two of them had to go to work. "you look beautiful, baby." he breathed out and it wasn't to butter her up. it was the honest truth. "yeah, well," he paused, lifting his shoulders up in a shrug, "sometimes you deserve to be treated. take this as an apology for this morning."

one perk of working as the assistant to a highly sought-after marketing agent? you always looked magazine-ready. today was no exception. even with the stupidity of this morning's argument, setareh was dressed to the nines, and the flood of stares in her direction were practically an expectation met perfectly. maybe this was what made her all the more of a crowd puller — confident in her strides and stoic in her expression — as she slipped onto the plush cushion across carter. "well... this place isn't cheap." she may have been a bit of a brat, sure, but even she wasn't so stupid as to be so wasteful. she tilted her chin up. "what's going on?"

a small sigh left his lips, his arms squeezing her a little tighter. "come on, baby," he cooed and kissed at her cheek. "you know i missed you." carter was a little bit clingy and pretty good at expressing his feelings, so that wasn't a big deal to him. "oh, yeah? and what did you do while i was gone, huh? anything fun?" he asked, wiggling his eyebrows.

Although Jolene did miss him she wasn't about to give into him too easily. "Maybe you should start by you missed me first, you'll get a better answer that way." She replied slightly rolling her eyes at him as she tried to pull away from his embrace. "Plus I found ways to entertain myself while you were gone." All of it was work related but she wouldn't tell him that.
